Glittering Cave
Lincoln and his friends look down a path going through Glittering Cave.
"What do you think we'll find here?" asked Serena.
"Don't know; I'm hoping to find at least one fossil." replied Lincoln. He then looks at what appeared to be glowing green moss on the cave wall. "What's this stuff?"
"I think that's Luminous Moss." said Trevor.
"At least this stuff is lighting up the cave so we can see what it's like inside it." replied Shauna.
"I hope we don't get lost in here." said Serena.
"We just have to be sure to stick together." said Lincoln. The group begins walking through the cave, looking around. As they do, a spherical Pokemon with light blue fur, batwings, and a snout with a heart-shaped nostril swoops past them, making the group stop and Shauna jumping close to Lincoln and grabbing his shoulders; she and Lincoln look at each other's eyes before Shauna lets him go and they look away, blushing.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he pulls out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Woobat, the Bat Pokemon. Its habitat is dark forests and caves. It emits ultrasonic waves from its nose to learn about its surroundings." said Lincoln's pokedex. The Woobat swoops at them, but they jump out of the way, dodging it.
"I don't think it likes us being here." said Shauna.
"We have every right to be here." replied Lincoln. He looks at the Woobat as it hovered in front of them; it reminded him of Fangs, his sister, Lucy's pet bat. Lincoln shakes his head and pulls out a pokeball. "We can't look for fossils with that Woobat after us; Bagon, go!" He throws Bagon's pokeball and releases him.
"Bagon, use Leer!" said Lincoln. Bagon glared at Woobat and his eyes glowed red; Woobat's defense weakens. The Woobat flaps its wings and releases a gust of wind from them; it hits Bagon, damaging him.
"That looked like Gust." said Serena.
"Bagon, use Bite!" said Lincoln. Bagon leaps at Woobat and bites it, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to its defense being weakened, and making Woobat flinch. "Now use Headbutt!" Bagon charges at Woobat and rams his head against it, knocking it to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Woobat; it hits Woobat and it gets sucked into the pokeball. After it wiggled around for a few seconds, it clicked.
"Yes; I caught a Woobat!" said Lincoln.
"Way to go, Lincoln." said Tierno. Woobat's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and looks up Woobat's information.
"This says Woobat's a girl, she knows Confusion, Odor Sleuth, Gust, Assurance, and Heart Stamp; she has the Klutz ability which prevents her from receiving any effect of any item she's holding." said Lincoln.
Moments later, the group was looking around rocks in the cave.
"You guys find anything?" asked Tierno.
"Not yet." replied Lincoln.
"I hope we find a fossil; it would be incredible to have a prehistoric Pokemon." said Trevor. "I'm telling you, the technology to revive fossils is remarkable."
'Lisa would think that too.' Lincoln thinks to himself. As the group continued looking around, Trevor sees a bipedal, light brown, dinosaur-like Pokemon wearing a skull on its head, sitting on a rock while clubbing the ground with a bone. Trevor takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Cubone, the Lonely Pokemon. It wears the skull of its dead mother on its head. When it becomes lonesome, it is said to cry loudly." said Trevor's pokedex. The Cubone, hearing Trevor's pokedex, jumps off the rock, and faces Trevor, going into a battle stance.
"I think it wants to battle, Trevor." said Lincoln.
"I was hoping for a fossil, but I guess a new Pokemon's just as good." said Trevor before pulling out a pokeball. "Pansage, go!" He throws his Pansage's pokeball, and releases him. "Okay, Simisage, use Leer!" Pansage glares at Cubone and his eyes glow, weakening Cubone's defense. The Cubone glares at Pansage back and its eyes glowed, weakening Pansage's defense.
"I think Cubone used Leer right back." said Lincoln.
"Simisage, use Vine Whip!" said Trevor. Two green vines come out of Pansage's back and they strike Cubone, dealing moresuper effective damage then it normally would have due to its defense being weakened by Leer. The Cubone charges at Pansage and hits him with its bone, damaging him.
"Simisage, Fury Swipes!" said Trevor. Simisage charges at Cubone and claws it repeatedly, dealing damage, and knocking Cubone to the ground. Trevor takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Cubone; it hits Cubone and sucks it in. The pokeball wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yes; Cubone is mine."
"Way to go, Trevor." said Tierno. Trevor looks up his new Cubone's information on his pokedex.
"My new Cubone's a girl, she knows Growl, Tail Whip, Bone Club, Headbutt, and Leer." said Trevor. "She has the Lightning Rod ability which draws electric type moves to her; normally, Pokemon that have that ability that absorbs electric attacks get their special attack power increased, but since Cubone's a ground type, she won't get the boost."
"At least Cubone won't be lonely." said Shauna.
"Come on, let's keep looking around." said Lincoln. Trevor returns Pansage to his poekball and the group continued looking around the cave.
While they looked, Lincoln took the time to train his Pokemon to prepare for his gym battle at the Cyllage City Gym.
His Bagon learned Ember, his Braixen got stronger, his Panpour learned Scald, his Dunsparce learned Take Down, his Lucario learned Metal Sound, and his Floette learned Magical Leaf.
Lincoln's friends also trained their Pokemon; Shauna and her Bulbasaur were facing a tired Onix that had leafy vines wrapped around it.
"Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!" said Shauna. Two green vines come out from below Bulbasaur's bulb and they hit Onix, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out. "Way to go, Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur smiles at Shauna before she begins to glow.
"Whoa; Bulbasaur's evolving." said Lincoln. Everyone watches as Bulbasaur began to grow; when she stopped glowing, she was bigger, and the bulb has bloomed into a big pink bud. Shauna takes out her pokedex and points it at her newly-evolved Bulbasaur.
"Ivysaur, the Seed Pokemon, and the evolved form of Bulbasaur. There is a plant bulb on its back. When it absorbs nutrients, the bulb is said to blossom into a large flower." said Shauna's pokedex.
"Congratulations, Shauna." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." replied Shauna.
Moments later, the group were sitting in a large area of Glittering Cave, eating sandwiches.
"Good thing I made sandwiches for us before we came to this cave." said Serena.
"Yeah; I was starting to get hungry." said Tierno. They also watched Trevor's new Cubone interacting with the group's Pokemon, looking happily.
"Cubone looks like he's having a good time." said Lincoln.
"Now that she's part of the group, she'll never be lonely." said Shauna. Lincoln reaches for his water canteen that was on the cave floor; as he does, he sees something partly buried. Lincoln begins digging around it and pulls it out what appeared to be a rock with a claw on it.
"Well, I'll be." the group hears someone nearby say. They look to see a man in a lab coat, walking over to them. "You just found a Claw Fossil, young man."
"I did?" asked Lincoln, looking at the fossil in his hand.
"Yes; are you aware the fossil lab in Ambrette Town is capable of reviving fossils?" asked the man.
"Yeah; in fact, we came to this cave to find some." said Lincoln.
"I hope to find a fossil myself soon; I'm going to keep looking." said the man. He then begins walking down a path in the cave. After the group finished eating, they returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"Now that we found a fossil, let's go to the fossil lab so I can get this fossil revived." said Lincoln.
"Sure, Lincoln." said Shauna. The group packed their stuff and begin walking down the cave. As they walked, a Pokemon that looked like a crescent moon floats in front of them. Serena takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Lunatone, the Meteorite Pokemon. Because it turns active on nights of the full moon, it is said to have some link to the lunar phases." said Serena's pokedex. Serena pulls out a pokeball.
Lincoln looks down in sadness since the first part of Lunatone's name reminds him of his musical sister.
"I'm catching this one; Frogadier, go!" said Serena, throwing Frogadier's pokeball and releases it. "Frogadier, use Water Pulse!" Frogadier forms a ball of water between its hands and it launches it at Lunatone, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage. The Lunatone's eyes glowed blue; Frogadier gets lifted up and slammed into a cave wall, receiving damage.
"Frogadier, use Lick!" said Serena. Frogadier leaps at Lunatone and licks it, dealing super effective damage; Luantone begins to twitch.
"Lunatone's paralyzed." said Trevor. Serena takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Lunatone, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled until it clicked.
"Yes; Lunatone is mine." said Serena. She takes out her pokedex and looks up Lunatone's information. "My Lunatone knows Tackle, Harden, Confusion, Hypnosis, Rock Throw, and Psywave; it has the Levitate ability which makes it immune to ground type moves."
"Good job, Serena. " said Shauna. After Serena returns Frogadier to its pokeball, the group continued walking until they were out of Glittering Cave. They climbed onto the Rhyhorns that were waiting for them and continued riding towards Ambrette Town. As they do, Tierno spots what appeared to be a pale yellow stone with the image of a flame in it, sticking out of a legde wall; he grabs it and pulls it out.
"Whoa; a Fire Stone." said Tierno. "I can use this to evolve Pansear." When the group reach the end of the path, they jump off the Rhyhorns. Tierno pulls out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing Pansear; Tierno holds out the Fire Stone towards Pansear.
"How would like to evolve, Pansear?" asked Tierno. Pansear smiles and nods; Tierno touches Pansear with the Fire Stone and he begins to glow. Pansear begins to grow; when he stoppped glowing, he was not only bigger, he had tufts of red fur on his head that resembled flames, his arms were red, he had white fluff around his shoulders that resembled smoke, and his tail was fluffy, making it resemble a flame. Tierno takes out his pokedex and points it at his newly-evolved Pansear.
"Simisear, the Ember Pokemon, and the evolved form of Pansear. A flame burns inside its body. It scatters embers from its head and tail to sear its opponents." said Tierno's pokedex.
"This is so cool!" said Tierno.
"Congratulations, Tierno." said Trevor. After Tierno returns Simisear to his pokeball, the group begin walking back to Ambrette Town.
Moments later at the Ambrette Town Fossil Lab, Lincoln holds out the Claw Fossil towards the scientist that was there.
"You actually found a fossil." said the scientist in amazement.
"You bet; can you get it revived, please." replied Lincoln.
"Absolutely." said the scientist. He takes Lincoln's Claw Fossil and takes it to another room and shuts the door behind them. They see flashes of light coming from below the door; seconds later, the door opens and the scientist walks out.
"Is it done?" asked Lincoln. The scientist nods before turning towards the room the fossil restoration was done and motions to something; a grayish-green, shrimplike Pokemon with four white appendages with red tips on each side of its body, and a pair of large claws, crawls out of the room. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Anorith, the Old Shrimp Pokemon. It is a kind of Pokémon progenitor. It uses its extending claws to catch prey hiding among rocks on the seafloor." said Lincoln's pokedex. The scientist holds a pokeball out to Lincoln.
"I have already taken the liberty of putting your Anorith in a pokeball." said the scientist.
"Thank you, sir." replied Lincoln, taking the pokeball. He walks to Anorith and kneels close to it. "I hope you and I become good friends, Anorith." Anorith jumps up and down, happily.
"I think Anorith hopes to be good friends with you too, Lincoln." replied Shauna. Lincoln returns Anorith to its pokeball; it vanishes and gets transported to storage. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and looks up Anorith's information on it.
"This says Anorith's a boy, he knows Scratch, Harden, Mud Sport, Water Gun, and Metal Claw." said Lincoln. "He has the Battle Armor abiilty which prevents him from receiving critical damage."
"It's getting late; you think we can continue on to Cyllage City tomorrow?" asked Serena.
"Sure." replied Lincoln. The group leaves the fossil lab and walk to the Ambrette Town Pokemon Center. Shauna decides to use the Pokemon Center's PC to exchange her Bunnelby for her Mienfoo. The group then gives a nurse their Pokemon to get them treated; they then head to the cafeteria where they had dinner.
Lincoln has found a fossil in Glittering Cave and obtained a prehistoric Pokemon. What else will Lincoln and his friends find as their Kalos adventure continues?
