A Rockin' Gym Battle
After travelling up Route 8, Lincoln and his friends have finally arrived in Cyllage City where Lincoln plans on winning his next gym badge.
"We're finally here." said Lincoln. The group went to the Cyllage City PokeMart where Lincoln sold the Star Piece he found. He used some of the money to buy some pokeballs and potions; the group then exited the PokeMart.
"Are you going to challenge the gym, Lincoln?" asked Tierno.
"Not yet; I want to get my Pokemon treated." replied Lincoln.
"And I want to grab something to eat." said Trevor. "I'm a little hungry since I didn't have a chance to eat that sandwich since that jerk kicked sand into it."
"Still thought his sand pun was lame." said Lincoln. "Okay, after I drop my Pokemon off, we'll grab something to eat."
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Trevor. Shauna smiles at Lincoln for his thoughtfulness.
After finding a Pokemon Center, the group went inside and Lincoln gives his Pokemon to the nurse; after that, the group went to the cafeteria to grab something to eat while they wait for Lincoln's Pokemon's treatment to be done. Minutes later, the group were sitting at a table, eating sandwiches.
"So, Lincoln; any idea what Pokemon you're going to use against Grant?" asked Serena.
"Since Grant uses rock type Pokemon, Panpour, Lucario, and Floette are my best choices." said Lincoln.
"I'm sure you'll do great, Lincoln." said Shauna, making Lincoln smile at her in response.
Moments later, after the group finished eating, Lincoln picked up his Pokemon from the nurse and the group exits the Pokemon Center.
Minutes later, after asking someone for directions, they find themselves standing in front of an opening leading into a mountain.
"This is where the gym is?" asked Shauna, looking up at the mountain.
"Must be." replied Serena.
"Come on; let's go inside." said Lincoln. He and his friends went through the opening; once inside, they find themselves in a massive opening with a tall, rock climbing wall in the middle of it.
"Whoa." said Shauna, as she looked up at the rock climbing wall.
"That's...tall." said Tierno, looking up at the rock climbing wall.
"Hello, everyone." the group hears someone call down to them; they look up to see Grant, waving to them from atop the rock climbing wall.
"Hey, Grant." said Lincoln.
"Are you here for your gym battle?" asked Grant.
"You bet; I've been training hard for it." replied Lincoln.
"That's good to hear; you can either climb up the wall or take that elevator over there." said Grant, pointing down at the side of the rock climbing wall to an elevator that was built into the side of the rock climbing wall. Taking a deep breath, Lincoln walks to the rock climbing wall and begins climbing up.
"Be careful, Lincoln." said Shauna. Lincoln nods to her before he continued to climb up the wall. The rest of the group walked to the elevator and went inside it; it begins going up. A minute later, Lincoln reaches the top of the rock climbing wall just as the rest of the group exited the elevator.
"How was the climb, Lincoln?" asked Tierno.
"It was...awesome!" replied Lincoln.
"I'm glad you enjoyed the climb, Lincoln." said Grant. "I hope you enjoy our gym battle no matter what."
"I will." replied Lincoln. Seconds later, Lincoln and Grant were standing on opposite sides of the battle arena while his friends stood behind a guard rail, watching; a man stood on one side of the arena.
"This is an official gym battle between Grant the Gym Leader, and Lincoln Loud the challenger." said the man. "Each trainer will use two Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer with Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Lincoln and Grant each pull out a pokeball.
"Amaura, go!" said Grant, throwing a pokeball and releasing an Amaura.
"Go, Panpour!" said Lincoln, throwing Panpour's pokeball and releasing him. "Panpour, use Scald!" Panpour releases a stream of steaming water from his mouth and it hits Amaura and hits it, dealing super effective damage; fire surrounds its body.
"Amaura's burned; Scald has the chance of burning an opponent." said Trevor.
"Amaura, Thunder Wave!" said Grant. Amaura releases rings of yellow electricity from its mouth onto Panpour; he twitches as static surrounds his body.
"Panpour's paralyzed." said Serena. Amaura flinches in pain from its burn.
"Panpour, try using Water Gun!" said Lincoln. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Panpour from attacking.
"Amaura, Take Down!" said Grant. Amaura charges at Panpour while a light blue aura surrounds its body. "My Amaura has the Refrigerate ability which not only powers up his normal type attacks, but they become ice type." Amaura rams Panpour, but not dealing much damage, knocking him back. Amarua flinches in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down.
"Good thing burn weakens the attack strength of the Pokemon with it." said Tierno. Amaura flinches in pain from his burn.
"Panpour, try using Water Gun!" said Lincoln. Panpour fights through his paralysis and sprays a stream of water at Amaura, hitting him, and dealing super effective damage.
"Amaura, Rock Tomb!" said Grant. Multiple gray rocks form above Amaura and he launches them at Panpour and they hit him, dealing damage, and lowering his speed. Amaura flinches in pain from his burn.
"Panpour, use Scald!" said Lincoln. Panpour fights through his paralysis and releases another stream of steaming water from his mouth and it hits Amaura, dealing super effective damage, and knocking him out.
"Amaura is unable to battle. Panpour wins the match." said the official.
"Great job, Panpour." said Lincoln.
"That was awesome, Lincoln!" cheered Tierno.
"You're doing great." said Shauna. Grant returns Amaura to his pokeball.
"You fought well, Amaura." said Grant. He puts Amaura's pokeball away and pulls out another. "You're doing well so far, Lincoln, but let's see how you do against my final Pokemon; Tyrunt, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases a bipedal, brown, dinosaur-like Pokemon with a gray lower jaw and belly. Shauna takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Tyrunt, the Royal Heir Pokemon. This Pokémon was restored from a fossil. If something happens that it doesn't like, it throws a tantrum and runs wild." said Shauna's pokedex.
"You still want to battle, Panpour?" asked Lincoln; Panpour nods in response.
"Tyrunt, use Bite!" said Grant. Tyrunt charges at Panpour and bites him, dealing damage, and making him flinch. "My Tyrunt has the Strong Jaw ability, which powers up his biting type attacks. Okay, Tyrunt, now use Stomp!" Tyrunt jumps up and goes down towards Panpour and stomps down on him with his feet, damaging him; as Panpour struggled to stay on its feet, a blue aura surrounds him
"Panpour's Torrent abililty; Panpour, use Scald!" said Lincoln. Panpour fights through his paralysis and sprays a stream of steaming water at Tyrunt, hitting him, and dealing damage.
"Tyrunt, use Tackle!" said Grant. Tyrunt charges at Panpour and rams him, knocking him to the ground, unconscious.
"Panpour is unable to battle. Tyrunt wins the match." said the official.
"Don't worry, Lincoln; you can still turn this around." said Serena.
"You can do it!" said Trevor. Lincoln nods before returning Panpour to his pokeball.
"You were amazing, Panpour." said Lincoln. He puts Panpour's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Lucario!" He throws Lucario's pokeball and releases him. "Lucario, Swords Dance!" Lucario closes his eyes and meditates; glowing blue swords circle him and cross together. Lucario glows red and his attack strength increases.
"Tyrunt, use Stomp!" said Grant. Tyrunt jumps at Lucario and stomps down on him with his feet, but not dealing much damage to him.
"Lucario, Power-Up Punch!" said Lincoln. Lucario charges at Tyrunt while an orange aura surrounded his paw and he punches Tyrunt with it, dealing super effective damage; energy begins surging through Lucario.
"Tyrunt, use Bite!" said Grant. Tyrunt charges at Lucario and bites him, dealing moderate damage due to his Strong Jaw ability, and making Lucario flinch; he suddenly begins surging with energy.
"You just activated Lucario's Steadfast ability; causing him to flinch increases his speed." said Lincoln.
"All right Tyrunt, use Rock Tomb!" said Grant. Gray rocks form above Tyrunt and he launches them at Lucario, not dealing much damage, but lowers his speed.
"Lucario, Force Palm!" said Lincoln. Lucario charges at Tyrunt while his paw turned light blue and he strikes Tyrunt with it, dealing super effective damage; Tyrunt begins to twitch as static surrounds his body.
"Tyrunt's paralyzed." said Tierno.
"Tyrunt, use Stomp!" said Grant. Tyrunt was able to fight through his paralysis and jumps towards Lucario; Tyrunt stomps down on Lucario with its feet, but not dealing much damage.
"Lucario, Counter!" said Lincoln. Lucario's paw becomes surrounded by an orange aura and he punches Tyrunt across the face with it, dealing super effective damage; Tyrunt gets sent flying and lands near Grant's feet with swirly eyes.
"Tyrunt is unable to battle. Lucario wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lincoln Loud!" said the official.
"We did it!" cheered Lincoln, jumping up and spinning around while raising a fist.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Tierno.
"You did great!" said Serena.
"I knew he could do it." said Shauna. Grant returns Tyrunt to his pokeball.
"You were incredible, Tyrunt." said Grant. He puts Tyrunt's pokeball away and walks over to Lincoln. "You did an excellent job raising your Pokemon, Lincoln."
"Thanks, Grant; that battle was amazing." said Lincoln, making Grant smile in response. Grant reaches into his pocket and pulls out a badge that resembled a rock climbing wall.
"For your victory here, I present you with the Cliff Badge." said Grant.
"Thanks, Grant." said Lincoln as he takes the badge, along with pokedollars. "Yes; I won the Cliff Badge!" Lincoln's friends jumped over the railing they were behind and runs over to Lincoln; they enveloped him in a group hug.
"Congratulations, Lincoln." said Trevor.
"You won your second badge." said Serena; Lincoln laughs with joy.
Later that night, at the Cyllage City Pokemon Center; Shauna and Serena were sleeping in a room they were sharing. In a room, Lincoln, Tierno, and Trevor were sharing, Tierno and Trevor were sleeping; Lincoln was awaking, looking at his badge case which held his Bug Badge and his newly won Cliff Badge, smiling. He puts his badge case in his backpack that was on the floor near his bed and he lays down; minutes later, he fell asleep.
