Hunting for Hawlucha
The next day, Lincoln was in the Naranja Academy's Entrance Hall, reading through books on the different kinds of Pokemon, to find one he believed that Ronnie Anne would like; his sisters that were in Paldea, along with Nemona, Arven, and Penny all walk into the area and see him.
"Hey, Lincoln!" said Lana as she runs over to her brother and hugs him.
"Hi, Lana." Lincoln replied.
"What are you up to?" asked Leni.
"Seeing if there's a Pokemon that Ronnie Anne would like." said Lincoln.
"Have you found any?" asked Lynn.
"Not so far." said Lincoln. He then feels a pair of arms drape over his chest, making him look and blush when he sees Nemona.
"Morning, Lincoln." said Nemona as she nuzzles his cheek.
"H-Hi, Nemona." Lincoln responds, making his sisters giggle.
"Lincoln better hope that Iono doesn't find out about this." said Lynn with a grin.
"What are you up to?" Nemona asked the white-haired Loud.
"I'm trying to find a Pokemon that a friend of mine back home would want." said Lincoln.
"When are you going to send those Pokemon you got for your pageant friends over to your home back in America?" asked Nemona.
"Maybe this afternoon." said Lincoln. "My sisters back home have school, and I want to make sure that Lola is home before I do."
"That sounds reasonable." said Penny.
Lincoln turns the page of the book he was currently reading and sees a Pokemon that he felt Ronnie Anne would like.
"This is perfect!" said Lincoln.
"What did you find?" asked Lynn. She and everyone else look at the page that Lincoln stopped at to see a bipedal, birdlike Pokemon with a bluish-green, masklike marking on its face, reddish orange arms with wings attached to them, white torso and legs, with yellow, birdlike feet.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lana. Lincoln looks through his Rotom Phone until he finds the file he was looking for.
"Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokemon. Its elegant finishing moves—performed by nimbly leaping around using its wings—are polished in the forest where it was born and raised." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"That is so cool!" said Lynn.
"Ronnie Anne loves Lucha Libre!" said Lincoln. "I know she'll like this Pokemon!"
"Where are they located?" asked Penny. Lincoln looks at a map of known locations for Hawlucha.
"Looks like the closest one is in an area south of Los Platos where they are usually found." said Lincoln.
"Gonna go look for one?" asked Lucy.
"Of course." said Lincoln. "I'm guessing Ronnie Anne is feeling a little left out not having a Pokemon of her own."
"No time like the present, bro." said Lynn.
"You got that right." said Lincoln.
They all grab some provisions for the short journey and exit the academy; but before they leave Mesagoza, Lincoln stops by a dry cleaner to have Iono's jacket cleaned after yesterday's incident involving Coral. Soon, the group was making their way over to the area to look for a Hawlucha.
They arrive in South Province Area Four; they then split into groups and start looking around.
With Lincoln and Nemona, they were checking out a part of the area when a thought enters Lincoln's head; he takes out his Rotom Phone and does a quick swap.
"What are you doing?" asked Nemona.
"Doing an exchange." said Lincoln.
"For what?" asked Nemona.
"I'm swapping Monferno for Okidogi." said Lincoln.
"That guy?!" Nemona replied. "Why would you want a member of the Loser Three with you?!"
"I just believe in second chances." said Lincoln.
"I believe that; considering you gave your sisters one after what they did to you." said Nemona.
"And Okidogi can't start making up for the trouble he caused if he's stuck in storage." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, that's true." said Nemona. She then grabs Lincoln and kisses him on the cheek, making him blush.
"W-What was that for?" asked Lincoln.
"For being a nice guy; and for being a little cute." said Nemona with a smirk. After Lincoln shakes his head to get the cobwebs out, they both look around and soon see a Tera Den.
"What do you think's in there?" asked Lincoln.
"Wanna check it out?" asked Nemona.
"I have time for a quick look." said Lincoln. He then crawls into the Tera Den, followed by Nemona, and soon enter the crystallized cavern where they see a small crystallized Pokemon with a white upper body, green lower body, long ears coming out the side of its head, a garland made of pollen on its head, holding a red flower; it also had a bunch of crystal flowers on its head.
"It's a Flabebe." said Nemona. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone, and points it at the Pokemon.
"Flabebe, the Single Bloom Pokemon. This Pokémon can draw forth the power hidden within blooming wild flowers. It is particularly fond of red flowers." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I'll bet Lola pageant friends would love this Pokemon also." said Lincoln.
"Gonna try catching it?" asked Nemona.
"As long as I'm here and also helping Mr. Jacq complete the pokedex." said Lincoln. He takes out an Ultra Ball and tosses it, releasing Okidogi; he looks around with a confused look on his face.
"Okidogi!" said Lincoln, drawing the Pokemon's attention to him. "Today you start atoning for what you did to Ogerpon years ago; what you did was wrong, and you should be ashamed of yourself!" Okidogi looks away with regret on his face. "I don't know what made you do what you did years ago, but you are going to make up for what you did!"
"Wow, you're really laying into Okidogi, Lincoln." said Nemona with a small laugh.
"Just letting him know that I won't tolerate him causing trouble from now on." said Lincoln. He directs Okidogi's attention to the Flabebe, and he gets ready for battle.
"Judging by the flowers on Flabebe's head, her Tera Form is grass." said Nemona.
"How can you tell Flabebe's a girl?" asked Lincoln.
"All Flabebes are girls." said Nemona.
"Oh." said Lincoln. "Okay, Okidogi, use Poison Fang!" Okidogi bares his fangs as poison drips from them before he runs at the Flabebe and bites down on her, dealing super effective damage; the Flabebe responds by releasing vines from her body that strike Okidogi, not doing much damage to him. "Okidogi, use Force Palm!" Okidogi rushes forward and thrusts his palm into Flabebe, shattering her Tera Form.
"Catch her, Lincoln!" said Nemona. Lincoln quickly takes a pokeball out of his backpack and tosses it at the Flabebe, with the pokeball becomes covered in a crystal coating, and hits her before sucking her in; after the crystal layer breaks, the pokeball shakes once before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Flabebe!" said Lincoln. After the Tera Den disappears, and Flabebe's pokeball is sent to storage; Lincoln looks up his new Flabebe's information on his Rotom Phone. "My new Flabebe's a girl like you said she was, she knows Vine Whip, Tackle, Fairy Wind, Safeguard, and Tearful Look; she also has the Flower Veil ability which protects all grass type Pokemon with her from status conditions.
"Good work, Lincoln!" said Nemona as she hugs the white-haired Loud. Lincoln looks over at Okidogi as he was looking back at him and Nemona.
"Good work, Okidogi." said Lincoln, making Okidogi smile a bit.
"Let's keep looking." said Nemona before she grabs Lincoln's hand and starts pulling him along.
At another part of South Province Area Four, Leni and Arven were looking around.
"Any sign of a Hawlucha yet, Arven?" asked Leni.
"Not yet." replied Arven. 'As long as I get to spend time with you, Leni; I don't care how long we have to look.' They suddenly see a Tera Den nearby.
"Maybe there's a Hawlucha in there." said Leni. She and Arven walk to the Tera Den and entered it; they found themselves facing a crystallized, fishlike Pokemon that was black on the top half and light blue on the bottom, and had a crystal water fountain on top. Leni takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Finneon, the Wing Fish Pokemon. The line running down its side can store sunlight. It shines vividly at night." said Leni's Rotom Phone.
"Not a Hawlucha, but it's so pretty; I'm catching it." said Leni.
"The water fountain on top indicates that its Tera Form is a water type." said Arven. Leni takes out a pokeball.
"Smoliv, like, come out." said Leni as she tosses Smoliv's pokeball and releases her. "Smoliv, use Razor Leaf!" Smoliv releases leaves from her body and they hit Finneon, dealing super effective damage. The Finneon fires a beam of multicolored energy out of its mouth at Smoliv and hits her, damaging her.
"Smoliv, like, use Absorb!" said Leni. Smoliv releases a beam of red energy from the top of her head and it hits Finneon, dealing super effective damage, and healing her wounds. Finneon's Tera Form shatters and it collapses. Leni takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Finneon while it crystallized, hitting Finneon, and sucking it in; it wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yay; Finneon's mine."
"Good work, Leni." said Arven. The Tera Den vanishes and Leni and Arven find themselves back in South Province Area Four. Leni looks up Finneon's information on her Rotom Phone.
"This says Finneon's a girl, she knows Pound, Water Gun, Rain Dance, Psybeam, Water Pulse, and Gust." said Leni. "She has the Storm Drain ability which draws water type attacks to her, but they don't hurt her, but raises her special attack strength instead." Leni sees several Tiny Mushrooms and berries on the ground and picks them up.
"Let's keep looking." sadi Arven. Leni wraps an arm around Arven's, making him blush, and they continued searching.
With Lynn, Lana, and Lucy; they were all searching another part of South Province Area Four.
"Do you see one yet?" asked Lucy.
"Not yet." said Lynn. They then spot a Tera Den nearby.
"What's in there?" asked Lana.
"Maybe a Hawlucha?" suggested Lucy.
"Let's go check it out." said Lynn. The three go over to the Tera Den and head inside it. They enter the crystal cavern and see a crystallized, humanoid, bipedal Pokemon with a whitish-gray onion-shaped head with curved ears, plus whitish-gray wrists, feet, and lower body; along with light blue upper body, arms, hands, and feet. On its head was a crystallized purple skull and crossbones.
"What's that?" asked Lana as she takes her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Meditite, the Meditate Pokemon. It never skips its daily yoga training. It heightens its inner strength through meditation." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"This says it's part fighting and part psychic type." said Lana.
"Well, if it's part fighting, then I want it." said Lynn. "And since it's part psychic, it should be able to handle psychic type attacks better than if it wasn't."
"And those skull and crossbones mean that its Tera Form is poison type." said Lucy. Lynn throws a pokeball, letting out her Pawniard.
"We'll help out." said Lana as she lets out her Grimer while Lucy lets out her Gastly.
"Pawniard, use Metal Claw!" said Lynn. Her Pawniard's leaps at the Meditite, and slashes it with her blade hands.
"Grimer, use Mud Shot!" said Lana. Her Grimer launches a large glob of mud at the Meditite, dealing super effective damage, and lowering its speed.
"Gastly, use Lick." said Lucy. Her Gastly's tongue extends and licks the Pawniard. Meditite runs at Pawniard and strikes her with the palm of its hand, dealing super effective damage; she starts twitching.
"That must've been Force Palm!" said Lynn.
"How do you know?" asked Lucy.
"I like learning about fighting type moves." said Lynn. "Anyway, it could cause paralysis."
"Try attacking." said Lucy.
"Pawniard, use Scratch!" said Lynn. Her Pawniard tries to move, but paralysis stops it.
"Grimer, use Mud Shot again!" said Lana. Grimer launches another glob of mud at Meditite; its eyes glint, and it dodges the attack. The Meditite fires a beam of psychic energy from its hands, hitting Grimer, dealing super effective damage.
"This Pokemon's tough." said Lucy.
"Makes we want it more." said Lynn.
"Gastly, use Payback!" said Lucy. Her Gastly releases dark streams of energy from its body; Meditite braces itself and takes the attack before its eyes glow blue, making a similar-colored aura appear around Gastly and slams her into the ground, dealing super effective damage.
"You can do it, Pawniard!" cheered Lynn. The morale support from her trainer gives Pawniard the strength to break free of paralysis.
"How did you do that, Lynn?" asked Lana.
"Something I learned in Ms. Dendra's Battle Studies class." said Lynn with a smile. "Pawniard! End this with Assurance!" Her Pawniard runs at the Meditite and thrusts its blade hands into it, doing enough damage to shatter its Tera Form. Lynn takes an empty pokeball from her pocket, winds up, and throws it with incredible force at the Meditite as a crystal layer forms over it; the pokeball hits Meditite and sucks it in before the crystal layer shatters, and the pokeball clicks.
"You dit it, Lynn!" said Lana. As the Tera Den disappears, and Meditite's pokeball goes to storage, Lynn looks up her new Pokemon's information on her Rotom Phone.
"My Meditite's a guy, he knows Confusion, Work Up, Detect, Endure, Feint, Force Palm, Psybeam, Low Sweep, Psych Up, and Fake Out; he has the Pure Power ability that doubles his attack power." said Lynn.
"That sounds like your kind of ability." said Lucy.
"You got that right!" said Lynn. "I'll put him on my team." She takes her Rotom Phone and uses it to swap her Cyclizar for her new Meditite.
Clyde and Penny were at another part of South Province Area Four, facing a quadrupedal, light blue Pokemon with a short trunk. Clyde points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Phanpy, the Long Nose Pokemon. This Pokémon lives and nests on a riverbank. After playing in the mud, it won't be able to settle down unless it washes its body." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Not a Hawlucha, but I'll catch it anyway." said Clyde, pulling a pokeball from his waist. "Let's go, Quaxquaval!" He throws Quaxquaval's pokeball and releases him. "Quaxquaval, use Aqua Cutter!" Quaxquaval's hand becomes surrounded by water; he leaps at Phanpy and slashes it with his hand, dealing super effective damage. The Phanpy stomps the ground with its front legs, creating a shockwave that hits Quaxquaval, dealing damage.
"Quaxquaval, Water Pulse!" said Clyde. Quaxquaval forms a ball of blue water betwen his hands and launches it at Phanpy, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; Phanpy falls to the ground. Clyde takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Phanpy, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled until it clicked. "Yes; Phanpy is mine."
"Good work, Clyde." said Penny. Phanpy's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Clyde looks up Phanpy's information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says Phanpy's a girl, she knows Tackle, Growl, Defense Curl, Flail, Rollout, Bulldoze, and Endure; she has the Pickup ability which has the chance of her finding items after battle." said Clyde.
Later, everyone meets up at a clearing where Arven makes everyone, along with their Pokemon, a picnic lunch.
"You're, totes, a good cook, Arven." said Leni.
"Thanks, Leni." said Arven with a blush. Lincoln takes a couple sandwiches and hands them to Okidogi.
"Can't believe you put him on your team." said Lynn.
"Like I said to Nemona, he can't start making up for what he did if he's in storage." said Lincoln.
"I guess so." said Lynn. As everyone ate, something leaps out of some tall grass, and lands on a rock nearby; when the group got a good look, they see it was the Pokemon that Lincoln was looking for.
"A Hawlucha!" said Lincoln.
"What's it doing here?" asked Lana. The Hawlucha looks at everyone's food and drools a bit.
"It must be hungry." said Lucy. Lincoln decides to make a couple sandwiches from some of Arven's ingredients and sets them down close to Hawlucha; it looks at the offerings with a hungry look on its face before it grabs and eats them.
"Must've REALLY been hungry." said Lana. Lincoln grabs some more ingredients from his backpack and makes the Hawlucha a few more sandwiches which it gladly accepts.
"Wouldn't it be easy to capture if it's hungry?" asked Lynn.
"Would you do a spar against someone who's too weak to defend themselves?" asked Lincoln.
"No way; there'd be no sport in it!" said Lynn before her eyes widen when she sees what Lincoln was getting at.
"I want to earn the right to capture it." said Lincoln before he waves Toxel over to him; she waddles over and stares at the Hawlucha.
"Smart move." said Nemona. "Toxel is resistant to fighting and flying type moves."
"Toxel, use Nuzzle!" said Lincoln. His Toxel moves over to the Hawlucha and nuzzles its leg with her cheek, causing static electricity to go into it, dealing super effective damage; the Hawlucha responds by striking her with one of its wings, not doing much damage to her.
"Isn't Nuzzle supposed to cause paralysis also?" asked Clyde.
"Hawlucha must have the Limber ability." said Lincoln. "It prevents the Pokemon with it from getting paralyzed."
"That's handy." said Penny.
"Toxel, use Tearful Look!" said Lincoln. His Toxel looks at the Hawlucha with watery eyes, making it feel guilty and lowering its attack strength; the Hawlucha runs at Toxel and rams her, dealing damage, but not as much thanks to it being weakened. "Toxel, use Acid!" Toxel releases a spray of acid from her mouth that hits Hawlucha, damaging it; the Hawlucha responds by flying up and swooping down at Toxel, striking her.
"Totes, mean." said Leni.
"Pokemon do have to defend themselves sometimes." said Clyde.
"Toxel, use Nuzzle one more time!" said Lincoln. Toxel moves at Hawlucha and nuzzles it one more time, shocking it, and dealing super effective damage; the Hawlucha drops to one knee.
"Catch it, Lincoln!" said Lana. Lincoln nods before he takes an empty pokeball from his backpack and throws it at the Hawlucha, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Hawlucha!" said Lincoln.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Lynn.
"That was great!" said Clyde. Hawlucha's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and uses it to look up his Hawlucha's information.
"This says Hawlucha's male, he knows Tackle, Hone Claws, Wing Attack, Detect, Aerial Ace, Encore, and Feather Dance; and I was right about him having the Limber ability" said Lincoln.
The group returns to Mesagoza to hang out the rest of the day. Seeing it was after three o' clock, Lincoln calls his family in Royal Woods.
"Hi, sweetie." said Rita.
"How are you kiddos doing?" asked Lynn Sr.
"We're doing awesome!" said Lana. The Loud siblings, who were in Paldea, tell their family in Royal Woods, about everything they learned and experienced today.
"Is Lola there?" asked Lincoln; Lynn Sr was shoved out of the way by Lola.
"Here I am, Linky." said Lola.
"I'm sending three Pokemon over for your pageant friends." said Lincoln. "And I also found a couple pearls that I plan on sending over to you."
"Thanks, Linky!" said Lola. Lincoln then uses his Rotom Phone to send Happiny, Jigglypuff, and Flabebe over to the Loud house.
"Is Lori there also?" asked Lincoln. The screen moves until it shows Lori's face.
"What's up, Lincoln?" asked Lori.
"I caught a Pokemon for Ronnie Anne." said Lincoln.
"She's, literally, been waiting for you to do that." said Lori.
"I'm sending it over." said Lincoln. "Could you bring it over to her?"
"Sure, twerp." said Lori. Lincoln then uses his Rotom Phone to send Hawlucha over to the Loud house.
"Tell her he's called a Hawlucha." said Lincoln. After he tells Lori all the facts about Hawlucha, they all talk for a bit more before ending the call.
"Wanna just hang out for the rest of the day?" asked Nemona.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "I think we did enough for today." Nemona hooks one of her arms around one of Lincoln's, while Leni does the same thing with Arven, and Penny, reluctantly, does the same with Clyde, making both her and him blush.
As the group heads walks through the city, a drone was watching them, mainly focused on Lincoln.
Just outside Mesagoza, Coral was watching everything the drone was watching on her Rotom Phone, with her eyes focused on Lincoln.
"Hope to see you again, cutie." said Coral before she glares at Nemona. "And that hussy better let go of you!"
"What are you doing, Coral?" asked Sidian from nearby.
"N-Nothing!" said Coral as she hastily puts her Rotom Phone away.
Later that afternoon in Royal Woods at the Santiago residence; Lori was walking over to the front door; when she reaches it, she knocks and waits a few seconds before it opens, showing Bobby.
"Hey, babe." said Bobby.
"Hi, Boo Boo Bear." replied Lori. She then sees Volbeat; she takes out her Illumise's pokeball and tosses it, releasing her. The two bug Pokemon fly to each other and hug while Lori and Bobby do the same; seconds later, they break the hug. "Is Ronnie Anne here?"
"Hey, Nie Nie!" said Bobby. Seconds later, Ronnie Anne walks into the living room.
"I told you not to call me that." said Ronnie Anne. Lori reaches into her pocket and pulls out a pokeball.
"Hey, Ronnie Anne; Lincoln sent you a Pokemon." said Lori, holding the pokeball towards Ronnie Anne.
"About time!" replied Ronnie Anne as she takes the pokeball and tosses it, releasing Hawlucha; he began doing poses.
"This is called a Hawlucha; he's known as the Wrestling Pokemon." said Lori. Ronnie Anne looks in amazement at Hawlucha as he continued doing poses.
"This is so COOL!" said Ronnie Anne. Lori tells Ronnie Anne about Hawlucha's moves and Limber ability. Ronnie Anne runs to Hawlucha and begins doing poses with him, then they began flexing their arms hard while clenching their teeth until a loud fart causes them to stop; Ronnie Anne, Bobby, and the Pokemon there turned towards Lori.
"It was my shoe!" exclaimed Lori.
Lincoln has found and captured a Hawlucha for Ronnie Anne. What other Pokemon will he and the others meet as their Paldea adventure continues?
