Finizen
Early the next morning, Lincoln wakes up and stretches his arms, waking Clyde up in the process.
"Morning, Clyde." said Lincoln.
"Morning, buddy." said Clyde as he rubs some sleep out of his eyes. "What are you doing up already?"
"I'm gonna go for a morning jog." said Lincoln. "I wanna make sure I get a good amount of exercise so Ms. Dendra doesn't put us through her usual workout regime."
"Good idea." said Clyde. "Where are you going to run to?" Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and pulls up a map of the area they were in.
"There's a small beach near Levinica." said Lincoln. "I'm gonna jog there and back; that should be a good enough workout for now."
"Okay, Lincoln." said Clyde. Lincoln steps out of the tent, stretches his arms and legs a bit, puts his Pokemon's pokeballs on his waist, plus some empty ones into one of his pockets, then starts running towards his destination.
As he runs, he looks around at all the Pokemon in the area. He sees some Deerling eating some grass, a herd of some black, bull-like Pokemon (Tauros) stampeding across the open area, a bunch of Cyclizars he makes a mental note to catch later on for Luna, Lynn Jr, and Lana after breakfast; and some Hoppips floating in the morning breeze.
"Paldea is so awesome." Lincoln says to himself as he jogs. Twenty minutes later, he arrives at the beach and looks around a bit. He breathes in the sea air and lets out a relaxed sigh.
Meanwhile, with Clyde, he steps out of the tent and starts getting some cooking utensils out of his backpack to start making breakfast when he notices a Tera Den nearby.
"I guess I can spare the time to check it out before Lincoln gets back." said Clyde. He puts his Pokemon's pokeballs on his waist, puts an empty pokeball in his pocket, and enters the Tera Den. Inside he finds a bluish-green, pine cone-like Pokemon; on its head was a bunch of crystal balloons; Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Pineco, the Bagworm Pokemon. It likes to make its shell thicker by adding layers of tree bark. The additional weight doesn't bother it." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Judging by the balloons on it, its Tera Type is probably flying." said Clyde. He takes out his Naclstack's pokeball and releases her from it. "Okay, Naclstack; use Rock Throw!" Naclstack pulls some rocks from the ground, and throws them at the Pineco, doing super effective damage to it; it responds by spinning around and slamming into Naclstack, not doing a lot of damage. "Now use Smack Down!" Naclstack grabs another rock, runs over to the Pineco, hops above it, and slams the rock down onto it, making it plummet to the cavern floor, hard, causing its Tera Form to dispel. Clyde takes out an empty pokeball, and throws it at the Pineco, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Pineco!" said Clyde. He soon finds himself back out in East Province Area One, with the Tera Den disappearing, leaving behind some berries, and a bag of Stardust. As Pineco's pokeball disappears, Clyde looks up its information on his Rotom Phone. "This says that you're a girl, you know Tackle, Protect, Self-Destruct which I won't use, Bug Bite, Take Down, Rapid Spin, and Rollout; she has the Sturdy ability which helps her handle any move that can take her out in one hit if she's at full stamina."
Back with Lincoln, he was just sitting in the sand near the water, resting up from his jog, when something leaps out of the water and splashes back into it, getting some on him.
"What was that?" asked Lincoln as he shakes his shirt to get some water off it; he then sees a light blue, dolphinlike Pokemon, swimming around in front of him. Out of curiosity, he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Finizen, the Dolphin Pokemon. It likes playing with others of its kind using the water ring on its tail. It uses ultrasonic waves to sense the emotions of other living creatures." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"What's the idea splashing me like that?" Lincoln asked the Finizen; it responds by doing a backflip, causing its tail fin to whip some more water at him. Seeing that he was pretty much already soaked, Lincoln gets into the water and starts splashing the Finizen right back; after a minute, he stopped being upset and was starting to enjoy himself; the Finizen seemed like it was laughing with delight as it splashed Lincoln right back.
About two minutes later, the two got a little tired and decided they had enough; Lincoln steps out of the sea.
"I may be soaking wet right now, but I had fun with you, Finizen." said Lincoln, making the Pokemon chatter with glee. "I'm guessing that you enjoyed yourself, too?" The Finizen responds by nodding its head up and down.
As Lincoln starts to walk back to his and Clyde's campsite, he hears something come out of the water behind him; he looks and sees, to his surprise, the Finizen swimming through the air.
"How are you doing that?" asked Lincoln. He then notices the ring of water around the Finizen's tail glowing as it moved towards him. "So, your water ring lets you travel through the air, huh?" When Finizen reaches Lincoln, it starts to nuzzle his chest, and looks up at him with puppy dog eyes.
"You want to come with me?" Lincoln asked the Finizen, making it do a backflip in the air, and chatter with glee, making him laugh. He takes out an empty pokeball from his pocket and tosses it at the Finizen who taps it, making it enlarge, and balancing it on his nose before pushes it up above him, taps the button on it, making it open up and suck Finizen in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking. After the pokeball disappears to storage, he uses his Rotom Phone to swap his new Pokemon for his Cyclizar.
"Welcome to the team, Finizen." said Lincoln. After that, Lincoln starts jogging back to where he and Clyde had camp set up.
When he arrives back at the campsite, Clyde already had breakfast ready.
"Hi, Clyde." said Lincoln as he reaches him, getting his attention.
"Hey, bu..." Clyde started to say before noticing that Lincoln was wet. "What happened to you?" Lincoln smiles as he takes out his new Finizen's pokeball and lets it out.
"Meet Finizen; my newest Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"He looks so cool." said Clyde. He then tells Lincoln about how he caught Pineco in a Tera Den and tells him about his moves and ability. Remembering that he didn't look up his new Finizen, he takes out his Rotom Phone and looks up its information.
"My new Finizen is a boy, he knows Supersonic, Water Gun, Astonish, Focus Energy, and Aqua Jet; he has the Water Veil ability which makes him immune to the burn status condition." said Lincoln.
"That could help in our next Team Star battle." said Clyde.
"I want to train him on the way there." said Lincoln.
"Good idea, buddy." said Clyde. The two and their Pokemon, including Finizen, all then started to have breakfast. Once they've finished eating and cleaned their dishes; they packed up their campsite and start walking in the direction of the next Team Star base, according to Clyde's map.
Along the way, Lincoln gets his Finizen some training to help prepare for the upcoming battle; Finizen learned Double Hit, and Dive.
Half an hour later, they reached a path going by a small plateau that had a large Team Star flag on it.
"We must be almost there." said Lincoln.
"You ready for this, buddy?" asked Clyde.
"As I'll ever be." said Lincoln. "How about you?"
"As ready as I'll ever be, also." said Clyde.
"Then let's do this." said Lincoln.
