Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, Blaze and company found their way into Hell and had a little encounter with the native wildlife, namely Sin Eaters. Of course Batman was targeted by the creatures, and Blaze found herself under fire as well, but strangely, so did Zatanna, with a vision of Doctor Light. Clearly she's got secrets, a very familiar secret for those who know. But for now, the mission remains: rescue Dick Grayson from Hell. And now, the confrontation finally begins. So, how's that going to go? Read on to discover...
(Our scene resumes in the center of the City of Dis, where Dick Grayson is strapped to some sort of altar in what looks like the city square, clearly in a lot of pain. Thankfully, Blaze and company arrive pretty quickly)
Batman: Dick!
Dick Grayson: (Seeing Batman and company) Bruce! Blaze! Good to see you could make it!
Blaze: Hang on, we're coming to get you out of there!
(Just as Blaze and her team rush down and prepare to get Dick Grayson out of his confines, Darkblood, Enchantress, and Adonis Donnaiolo arrive)
Darkblood: Just as I suspected, here to rescue the Deadman.
Enchantress: They won't get far.
(With that, Enchantress casts a barrier over Dick Grayson's prison)
Enchantress: You want him? You'll have to go through us.
Blaze: (Cracking her neck) Gladly.
(With no hesitation, Blaze rushes into battle, skipping Darkblood and going straight for Enchantress, leaving Belial Aether, Batman, Zatanna, and John Constantine to deal with Darkblood and Adonis Donnaiolo)
John Constantine: Really, Blaze? Leaving us with the big guns?
Zatanna: We can take them.
Darkblood: (As Dark Aether flows through him) No. No you can't.
(And now the battle is on. Batman, Belial Aether, and the magicians do their best against Darkblood, and thankfully with the aid of the son of Anubis, the battle is pretty evenly matched. Blaze meanwhile is in a straight up cat fight with Enchantress, but strangely Blaze doesn't seem to be planning any fatal blows, just bobbing and weaving around Enchantress' magic. Eventually, Enchantress gets fed up with this)
Enchantress: Quit with the dodging and fight me genuinely, damn it!
Blaze: I'm not trying to fight you. I'm trying to stall you.
(Only at this point does Enchantress realize what Blaze has done, she's tricked her into almost exhausting her magic, at least enough that the dome around Dick Grayson goes down. While Enchantress is distracted by this thought, Blaze kicks her in the face, knocking her out long enough for Blaze to free Dick Grayson from his bonds)
Dick Grayson: Thanks.
Blaze: No worries. (Looks back towards Darkblood) Looks like we should give the others a hand.
Dick Grayson: Then let's.
(Dick Grayson leaps back into John Constantine's body and rejoins the battle as Blaze pounces on Darkblood from behind)
Darkblood: (With a perverse growl) I never would've suspected you could be so forceful...
Blaze: Don't even go there, you pervert.
Adonis Donnaiolo: Unhand him!
(Adonis Donnaiolo summons a small bolt of fire, and casts it at Blaze, though it doesn't do much beyond distract her long enough for Darkblood to throw her off. Blaze is about to start the fight all over again, but Belial Aether stops her)
Belial Aether: We have what we came for, let's get out of here before this gets worse!
Dick Grayson: I'm with Belial on this one!
Blaze: In all honesty, probably a good move, I haven't quite recovered from the last battle. Z, if you would?
Zatanna: Gladly. Teg Su Tuo Fo Ereh!
(Her spell cast, Zatanna and the rest of Blaze's team vanish from the City of Dis, leaving the three villains to stew in their failure)
Enchantress: (Finally regaining consciousness) Well that was embarrassing.
Adonis Donnaiolo: Your unconsciousness spared you seeing my shame. For this failure, I will take the blame.
Darkblood: Well, just don't renege on that offer and we'll be fine. Otherwise, all you need is a little training. And trust me. (Cracks his knuckles) That I can provide. (To Enchantress) Get us out of here.
(Dejectedly, Enchantress heeds her orders and casts a veil of her sickly green magic, transporting the trio back to the Nameless City. Meanwhile, we resume at Legion HQ, where Blaze is talking with Dick Grayson, still in John Constantine's body)
Dick Grayson: Thanks again for the rescue.
Blaze: No worries. It's the least we could do.
Dick Grayson: (Seeing right through her) Look, I know all this has been tough, and you're putting up one hell of a facade. But hear me out, you're doing great. And we will get Dragnarok back to normal.
Blaze: (Seeing she's been seen through, then with a sigh) I really hope you're right.
Dick Grayson: I know I am. (Puts a hand on her shoulder) Don't worry.
Blaze: When will we see you again?
Dick Grayson: I'll be around.
(And with that, Dick Grayson exits John Constantine's body, fading back to Nanda Parbat)
John Constantine: That never ceases to feel strange.
Blaze: I'll take your word for that.
John Constantine: Well, I've done my part, at least for now. (Opens a portal back to wherever he came from as he lights a cigarette) This will be the last time you hear from me.
Blaze: We'll see how long that lasts. If Etrigan told me anything about you, it's that you never stay out of the game for long, Hellblazer.
John Constantine: (Having not heard that nickname in a long time) Heh. Maybe...
(And with that, John Constantine leaves, seemingly for good, as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for today. So, at last we bid farewell to John Constantine. Or do we? Only time will tell. Admittedly, there wasn't much to tell with this one. Just needed to get the final battle in Hell out of the way so I can work on the complete list of things Blaze will need to bring Dragnarok back from Darkblood. The full list, next time. So be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
