Welcome back to The Injustice Wars! Last time, Darkblood and a few of his followers followed up on a lead that Brother Eye recovered from one of Batman's files, leading the Empire to a secret Regime laboratory where T.O. Morrow and William Magnus, the creators of Red Tornado and the Metal Men respectively, were forced to build their greatest creations, a pair of assassin androids known only as Deus and Diabolus Ex Machina. Darkblood, with the aid of Raven and Doctor Fate, activated the two androids, who almost immediately swore loyalty to him as a means to pay off the debt they owed him for activating them. So, aside from a member or two from the actual Injustice Universe, the Empire is complete. But there's still a few more characters to introduce. So, what awaits ahead? Read on to discover...

(Our scene picks up back in Blaze's quarters at Legion HQ, where she is once again writing an entry in her journal, chronicling the exciting events of the past few days. The entry reads as such:)

"Five years. We've been back in this universe for half a decade now. Brainiac has conspicuously laid low since we started on this, likely taking his time to observe and compute what new data has been added to the equation since our last confrontation with him. Aside from a few attacks by his robots and still occupying Metropolis, he has to be making a move pretty soon. But that's not the best thing about the last year. As much as I can't believe I'm saying this, we've got a way to bring Drago back. After a meeting with Dick Grayson, he gave us a list of 13 things we needed to restore Drago from Darkblood. Big problem with this list though, we've got no idea what most of these items are. I mean, we've got answers for three of them. We need Hawkgirl's Mace, a sample of the Speed Force, and a Green Lantern Ring. And we're pretty sure some of the others are Black Adam's magic and Aquaman's Trident, now in the hands of the Regime and Empire respectively, and we're guessing the so called 'Blood of Olympus' has to relate to Diana in some way. The rest though? No real clue at all. I can only hope we figure it out before long, because..."

(But before Blaze can finish that entry, the room is rocked by some sort of seismic attack. Realizing this could only mean danger, Blaze rushes into the conference room, where representatives of the Legion, Republic and Insurgency have gathered to see what the heck that was)

Blaze: Anybody forecasting an earthquake?

Supergirl: It wasn't an earthquake. It's Brainiac.

Belial Aether: The guy in the giant floating skull I'd bet.

Batman: Kara, what's he up to?

Supergirl: The last time I felt a vibration like this was when Kandor was collected. I can only assume that means he's about to strike.

Blaze: Guess he finally decided on a strategy after the last few years upset everything.

Flash: So now what do we do?

Blaze: What we always do, Barry. Confront the problem head on. Next stop Metropolis. (Flares her wings) Meet you there!

(And with no hesitation, Blaze takes off in the direction of Metropolis, with Supergirl hot on her heels, Flash dashing out the door after them, and Green Lantern forming a bubble around the rest of the group with his ring to follow in their footsteps. Meanwhile, our scene transitions back into the Skull Ship, a place we haven't seen in a long time, where Brainiac has summoned Grodd)

Gorilla Grodd: You summoned me, Brainiac?

Brainiac: My analysis of the many changes of the last few years of conflict has finally concluded. I am statistically certain that I have our next move planned and ready to strike.

Gorilla Grodd: What remains of the Society is at your command.

Brainiac: And who exactly still remains in your alliance?

Gorilla Grodd: Pretty much just Cheetah and myself.

Brainiac: With a 12th Level Intellect backing you up, that should be sufficient. Cheetah will lead the first wave. Today, we take Metropolis.

(But as Brainiac prepares to make his move, the scene transitions to a location just outside Metropolis, where a column of light has just shot down from the sky, depositing a figure clad in black samurai style armor, with a black-bladed Katana at his side and a massive black gemstone in the center of his chest.)

?: (Looks out on the location he's found himself in) So this is where Vermillion has fled to. (Pulls his Katana from his belt and unsheathes it) I swear on the soil of Homeworld, he will not escape me again, or I am not a Gem of honor.

(This mysterious samurai like figure now spots the city of Metropolis, with Brainiac's Skull Ship hanging in the air above it)

Black Diamond: Undoubtedly one of Vermillion's allies in this world. (Sighs) I fear for this world if he has an ally in it. No matter. (Sheathes his sword) However many friends Vermillion may have in this world. They will not escape Black Diamond.

(Black Diamond opens what appears to be a wormhole in front of him, and he steps through it, heading in the direction of Metropolis apparently, as our scene ends for today)

And that looks like a good place to end for today. At last, another character from the original Fighter Packs makes his debut. The secret Tenth Character: Black Diamond! I'll be honest, I've been looking forward to adding this guy for a long time. Mostly because I've never honestly worked with him before. I've worked with a sort of successor character to him, in Purple Diamond back in Age of Miracles, but never Black Diamond himself. So much raw opportunity here, and I'm loving it! So we'll see more of him in the coming chapters. How exactly? Tune in next time to maybe start finding out! Same time... same channel!
