This is Part III of the Summer Games Special. Last time, Darkblood finally made his move after Brainiac collected Metropolis and captured Spyro, Cynder, and Superman, setting various members of The Empire off on different missions. Namely sending Brother Eye, Black Manta, and the Ex Machina Twins to the Batcave to gather information, specifically including anything on the Phantom Zone Projector, and then sending his wives: Enchantress, Killer Frost, and Raven; to Kahndaq to secure the Rock of Eternity before Brainiac can. But before Brother Eye went off, Darkblood had him verify how Black Manta came to the information that Spyro, Cynder, and Superman were captured. Manta claimed he got it from Brother Eye, only for the supercomputer to confirm that Manta was lying. It seems he's on to Blaze's mole. Now, how will the other factions react to Darkblood being on the move? Read on to discover...
(Our scene resumes aboard the Skull Ship, where Brainiac is seated on his throne, processing data while Grodd works on their next plan of action. But suddenly, Brainiac sits bolt upright, it seems something has not gone unnoticed.)
Gorilla Grodd: (Having noticed Brainiac's sudden motion) Brainiac? Is everything alright?
Brainiac: Something is trying to gain access to my files. And is proceeding farther than my countermeasures would ordinarily allow.
Gorilla Grodd: (Stunned by this) Impossible!
Brainiac: I had thought so as well. It seems the dragon element is at play. And it matches the purple one running loose in the ship right now.
Gorilla Grodd: (Knowing exactly who he's talking about) Him, then.
Brainiac: It becomes more critical than ever now that the Purple Dragon be captured.
Gorilla Grodd: But... what do we do about the whole hacking thing?
Brainiac: If my calculations are correct and my file distribution up to date, they only recovered what I wanted them to see. As to the system invader, they should be dealt with swiftly...
(As Brainiac makes that ominous comment, the scene transitions to Legion HQ, where Blaze, Belial Aether, and Batman are meeting to discuss their next moves, now that they've got the Regime onboard with stopping Brainiac. We join the meeting already in progress.)
Belial Aether: We've certainly got a lot of manpower to throw at the problem. But we still don't have one critical thing. What's our plan?
Batman: We need to have people keeping an eye on any Regime members we send into action.
Blaze: Trust me, Bruce. I've got that planned out. At least one operative from each of our factions will be on them any time they go into the field. Right now, I'm still trying to figure out what we need to do.
(As Blaze makes that remark, Batman's alarms go off)
Belial Aether: What's the noise about?
Batman: System breach in the Batcave.
Blaze: Is somebody trying to hack the system?
Batman: Apparently, but the system's not registering anything out of place on the network. (Thinks it over) That can only mean one thing...
Blaze: Brother Eye.
Batman: Exactly, Darkblood sent him back into the system. And that's not all.
Belial Aether: What else is going on?
Batman: Brother Eye's holding on to data from Brainiac's system.
Belial Aether: Wait, that thing got past Brainiac's firewall?
Blaze: It looks like it. (Realizes something) This could be just what we need to get past Brainiac's shields!
Batman: Where are you going with this, Blaze?
Blaze: If we can cleanse Brother Eye of Darkblood's influence, we stand a chance of getting at the data he recovered from Brainiac's systems. If the data in question is what I think it is, Darkblood was looking for a way to get past the shields, just like we are. We'll need every techie we can throw at this. I'll get Blitz on the line. Better send Twirl with her.
Belial Aether: Donatello might be a good addition to that team.
Batman: You'll need one of Brother Eye's authorized users to get at the data.
Blaze: Right. I doubt Ollie or Dinah have access. Is Selina available?
Batman: She should be.
Blaze: Send her.
Batman: Not alone. Dinah will keep her in check.
Blaze: And we're not getting her without Ollie. We just need one more person. And I know just who.
(With that, Blaze punches in a communications link to Kahndaq, and gets Cyborg on the line)
Cyborg: (Seeing who it is) Oh, Blaze. It's you. If you're looking for Diana, she's... busy.
Blaze: Actually Vic, I was looking for you.
Cyborg: Come again?
Blaze: We need your technological expertise on a mission. Brother Eye's back home and we need to clear Darkblood from it's files.
Cyborg: Say no more. I'll let Diana know what's going on then meet you all in Gotham.
Blaze: Good call.
(And with that, Cyborg hangs up.)
Belial Aether: We sure we can trust that guy? He was one of the Regime's most fanatical after all.
Blaze: For once I'm counting on Bruce to have a countermeasure.
Batman: Brother Eye does for certain. If we can get it back, we can get it too.
Blaze: Good. Let's get this op moving. If Darkblood is half the strategist that Drago was, we're not going to have much time to act on this opportunity.
Batman: Agreed.
Belial Aether: Meeting adjourned for now then.
(And with that plan made, and Blaze calling in Blitz and Twirl for action, the scene ends for today)
This concludes Part III of the Summer Games Special. For the Finale, head on over to Ashes of Midnight. So, our first op with four factions is about to get underway. But will the team of Cyborg, Blitz, and Donatello be enough to cleanse Brother Eye of evil? Or will something more... untoward happen instead? Well, my answer is the same as always. Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
