Welcome to the next chapter of The Twin Dragons, but before starting. Let us answer some reviews:
The5reds: I know, but I felt that it would be easier for them to remain with Issei.
Clarent excalibur: I know, but I feel that Xenovia would fit better with Issei in this certain situation and I'm planning on adding Asia with Kazuki.
Guest: I apologize, but Xenovia will still be with Issei, while I'm switching Asia over to Kazuki.
Encounter with a Nun
It has been several days since his Issei was introduced into his new life as a devil and since then he went all around town delivering leaflets to potential clients. Now, it was after school in the Occult Research Club with Issei who had just become a recent member after being turned into a devil. During his debut as a devil, Issei had done his first contract to assist Koneko who at the time has two contacts at once.
Inside the Occult Research Club, Issei was apologetically sitting in front of Rias, as a result of failing to complete his research. His crimson-haired king sat in front of him looking a little mad about the fact, a servant of hers failed. On the sidelines, Kiba was wearing a bitter smile, Koneko wore the same emotionless look on her face and Akeno just laughed lightly.
"Something like this has never happened before."
Kiba had pointed out as Rias let out a bit of a sigh.
"…Ise."
Rias spoke for the first time as Issei leaned up head up in a prepared manner.
"Yes!"
Issei shouted out loud almost like a soldier who was called by their general.
"You talked with the client about manga, and what happened after that? What about the contract?"
"…it became invalid. So, we ended up battle playing a certain manga until morning," he replied sounding almost like a child being scolded by their parent. "I-I know that as a high school boy I should be embarrassed no, as a professional Devil, I should be also embarrassed! I-I'm regretting it! I'm very sorry!"
"…After the contract, we ask the client to fill in the questionnaire on the leaflet we gave them. We ask the client, 'How was your contract with a Devil?'. The questionnaire which is filled appears in this leaflet, but…"
Rias said more gently as she pulled out the leaflet, which belonged to his first client Morisawa.
Issei looked at the leaflets' questionnaire.
[It was fun. It was my first time having a good time like this. I'd like to meet with Ise-kun again. I hope I can make a good contract with him next time.]
"This is the first time I've received feedback like this. I wasn't sure what to do at first. That's why I put on a weird face because I didn't know how to react to this. Especially, this…."
Rias pointed at the other portion that reads:
[PS: It's blasphemous that you have a little brother that says that One Piece is better than Dragon Ball. If it wasn't for Dragon Ball, then there wouldn't even be One Piece.]
Upon hearing that last message, Issei began tearing up as if he heard something that gave him a feeling of relief and appreciation.
"Seriously, Morisawa-san. I wasn't able to do anything for you and still…. And suck it, Kazuki!"
Issei said that last part as an unsound insult towards his little brother.
"For devils like us, the most important thing is that we make contacts with humans who summon us, then we just complete their request. That's how we lived for a long time. …I didn't know how to react when I first read this. It is the first time that I've heard about a devil failing the contract, yet still, receive a good response like this."
Rias stated as she looked at the questionnaire with an expression that looked almost happy and not mad.
"You might become the number one Devil for such unexpected things," Rias added as she smiled at Issei. "But, please do remember the basics. Once you make a contract with the clients, you grant their wish, then receive the payment. Okay?"
"This place should be alright."
Kazuki said to himself as he stood in a forested area within Kuoh where no one comes around, thus making it the perfect place for him to practice.
"It should be the last day for him passing out leaflets, there also hasn't been that many incidents like before."
Kazuki pointed out to himself as he picked up the bokken, a wooden sword that he had received from their club adviser. He had also finished reading most of the spells that were written in the journal, which he was delivered to him by Raynare from Azazel. Speaking of which, Raynare has some business to take care of and wasn't able to watch him practice as promised.
"Now that I think about, this is one of the times where she wasn't with me."
Since meeting with Raynare, this was possibly one of the only times where she hadn't been around him. But, he didn't dwell on it since it must have been important. Desiring to just focus on his practice, for now, Kazuki held the bokken in his hands as he stood in a prepared stance.
"Okay, first reinforcement."
Kazuki said quietly as he tightened his grip on the bokken, then he had cast a spell on himself meant to raised his physical abilities. He could almost immediately tell the difference between now and before as he felt a lot stronger compared to before. To test that out, he directed his attention towards a tree that was a fair distance away from him. Having taken a prepared stance, then rushed forward striking the tree causing a greater impact that resounded across the entire place, while causing a notable dent.
"Whoa, this is more effective than I thought."
He examined the dent that he had made with reinforcement magic to enhance his strength, but Kazuki didn't let it go to his head since there were people who could do this better without it. Kazuki crossed his arms in a far more thinking manner trying to come up with a solution.
[What are you thinking about?]
"I know that I won't be able to take on that fallen angel that I ran into with this alone, based on what Raynare said he is a lot stronger than the ones who attacked Nii-san. I was able to gain the upper hand against him by using Divine Dividing to blindside him, but that won't against him a second time."
[If you were to practice with Divine Dividing, then you should be able to fly fast enough to where that fallen angel wouldn't be able to keep up with it.]
"You're right, I heard that the flight speed of Divine Dividing should be able to reach a speed that can surpass that of the natural flight speed belonging to the three races. If I also touch him, then I can also siphon off his power bit by bit until I can take him down, but…."
[But, what?]
"I don't feel that I could call that an actual victory by just siphoning off his power. I want to be able to take out that guy in a different manner and not just because I didn't up weaken him to that level."
[You're an odd one, but if you achieve balance breaker then it'll feel as if an entire realm of strength will begin to open up for you.]
Kazuki had also heard about a "Balance Breaker" before from Sona, who stated that it was the ultimate form for a sacred gear, which could break the balance of the world.
"You're right, but before that, I'll need to get myself stronger. If it wasn't for the fact that Divine Dividing can release the excess power that is absorbed, then my body wouldn't be able to endure all of it for long."
[Hahaha, you're among one of my only hosts who thought this far ahead. Most of them would've just did whatever possible to gain more power no matter the cost, even using that Jugg…never mind.]
Albion stopped as if he were close to saying something that he didn't want to, catching Kazuki's attention.
"What were you about to say?"
[….]
Albion remained silent not answering Kazuki's question, causing the latter to let out a sigh.
"You know, you can't always go silent like this."
Kazuki said as he scratched his head, then he held the bokken in his hands against another idea in mind for the wielding his sword. This time, a bluish-white light started to cover the entire wooden sword, this was another spell that can reinforce objects with magic. As he was preparing to strike the tree using another strike, but a sudden noise stopped him from moving forward.
"Nyaaa."
It was the sound of a cat that caught his attention, causing him to turn in that specific direction. What had come in his line of sight was a black cat that remained sitting near his school backpack.
"Huh? Oh, where did you come from?"
Kazuki questioned as he stopped training for a moment and proceeded to walk in its direction.
He soon knelt with his hand making gentle contact with the top of its head while smiling gently as the black cat nuzzled against his hand.
"Aren't we affectionate? So are you a good little girl?"
Kazuki had made a guess of the cat's gender based on the level of affection that "she" was showing.
"Nyaaa~"
He took that affection as a "Yes" causing him to let out a gentle laugh.
After a while, Kazuki just took a seat on the ground with the black cat jumping onto his lap almost right away the moment that he sat down. Another laugh soon escaped from his mouth, as he lifted his hand into the air as he started to breathe outward as if attempting to summon something. His hand soon started to give off a faint bluish-white glow, soon enough a shining orb appeared hovering above his hand.
It was a pure magic aura, which he recently learned how to do using the journal as a reference, as well as what he experienced in his meeting with Sona. Kazuki has also practiced this many times inside of his bedroom in the middle of the night.
"Ah, I'm thinking about how to become stronger."
Kazuki said as he tried moving around the magical orb without touching it, albeit it started to twitch around before it started to move away from his hand a little bit. Though it didn't go as far before it vanished as light particles in the air until it vanished from sight. After the magic orb vanished, he started to stare at his hands as if he began to judge himself and tightened his fist as much as he could.
"To keep a promise I made with someone I care about. I continued to join different clubs in school, which involve practicing martial arts," he said honestly as the cat seemed to listen. "But, then I started first-year at Kuoh Academy and it was at that moment, I was immediately opened to an entirely different realm of possibilities after finding out that I had a Longinus. But, despite all that, I still haven't become strong enough yet."
"Nyaaa?"
"Well, I can't become discouraged. I've been planning on trying different methods to overcome a certain issue."
Kazuki continued talking to the cat as if he were talking to an actual person since there were a lot of things that he needed to get prepared. It was the same thing that would have caused him to lose against Gadreel if he didn't decide to retreat after failing to kill Kazuki. To ensure that he doesn't end up dying, to ensure that he can defeat anyone and everyone, to ensure that he can protect everyone.
"I need to get stronger."
He declared to himself.
As if understanding those words, the black cat leaned down on his lap as if enjoying the comfort provided by his lap. Noticing this, Kazuki smiled and rubbed the top of the cat's head. He continued the spent more time there up until the moment that he had to return home so that he didn't worry his parent.
On the next day, Kazuki stepped into the classroom and noticed that his older brother was lying his head on top of his head. It looked as if he were mentally exhausted as his eyes looked almost dead. He couldn't see either of his friends, Motohama or Matsuda in the classroom yet. Neither could he see Raynare in the classroom this time either, but none of her teachers questioned it, causing him to believe that she used magic to hypnotize them into not questioning it or informed them beforehand.
"I wonder what's wrong with him. He should've already gotten used to being in sunlight."
Kazuki wondered as he waved towards the female students who called out his name.
"Did something happen?"
It was the first question that came out of his mouth after taking a seat at his desk, then turned toward his more or less depressed older brother. Without lifting his head towards him, Issei just turned his head so that he could look at him.
"I met a nightmare the other day."
"I swear if the next words out of your mouth is a flat-chested girl, then I'll…."
"Not it wasn't that!"
This time, Issei did stand up in his desk slamming his hands on top of his desk causing the attention of the other students in the classroom.
"Yesterday night, I met a creature in the form of an enormous muscular male dressed in a Gothic Lolita outfit."
"…."
In response to that answer, Kazuki blinked his eyes several times unable to say anything.
"…wow, I have no way to respond to that."
Kazuki stated as he was genuinely stunned without a single comeback entering his head.
As if a wave of depression started to radiate from his brother's entire body causing some of the student sitting nearby him to back away from him. If it wasn't for the fact that Issei didn't have the demonic power or knowledge to do something like that, then Kazuki would've believed it was magic.
"…he wanted to become a magical girl, then we ended up watching the entire series of Magical Girl Milky Spiral 7 Alternative."
Kazuki watched as his brother slouched onto his desk as he started to shutter at the mention of this person, there wasn't a single ounce of conversation in the classroom. Even the female students who would usually make their usual remarks about Issei or his friends didn't speak a single word. Not knowing what else to do, Kazuki just held out his hand and proceeded to pat his older brother on his back.
"….there, there. I'm almost positive that you won't be running into anymore…weird clients like that in the future," unable to say anything else, Kazuki just soothed his brother. "Who am I trying to kid? Knowing his luck, then he'll continue running into people like that, then it's possible that he may need a therapist."
"Don't try and lie to me. Knowing my luck, I'll continue running into people like that, then I'll need a therapist."
Issei repeated everything that had entered Kazuki's mind word for word.
"You know, it's things like this that cause people to think we're too close."
Kazuki pointed out as he continued to comfort his brother who just seemed to be getting worse by the moment.
"I don't know what I'm going to do, this is the second time that I failed at a request. I can't face buchou like this."
"Well, it would help if you reminded yourself to receive the payment after the request is completed."
"But, I always get sidetracked with the weirdness of my clients, then end up doing whatever they want."
"Well, would it help if I were to go along with you to your clients and remind you?"
Kazuki suggested causing some hope to spark up within the eyes of his brother.
"You'll do that for me?!"
"I mean, Kendo Club isn't that long and if you text me the address, then I could come and assist you in finishing a request or two. There isn't a rule that says that someone can't help you."
"Thank you're that best little brother that I could ask for," Issei proclaimed releasing an energetic presence. "And I'm sorry that I told you to suck it."
"When did you say that?"
Kazuki questioned as he glanced at his older brother with serious eyes.
"…I'm just kidding."
Issei replied as he sat back in his desk with an "innocent" look as he directed his attention toward the front of the classroom despite the teacher not even being in class yet. Issei just continued to ignore the looks that his brother was giving him from the sidelines as if he were trying to burn a hole in the side of his head. Most of the students in the room looked at them as the brothers did their usual routine.
"Yo, Ise!"
"Hmm, what's this?"
Both Matsuda and Motohama walked into the room with Aika trailing behind them noticing the air between both of the brothers.
"Hey, Kazuki did you hear about Yuuma-chan?"
Aika questioned letting a slight chuckle escape from her mouth.
After her introduction into the class as "Yuuma Amano", Raynare was the closest to Aika aside from Kazuki himself. He had even heard about the two of them going out on the weekends as friends.
"Ah, yea. Yuuma-san said she was having familial issues and said that she couldn't come to school for a while."
"Oh, I see. Weirdly, she just left without saying anything, even our teacher didn't mention anything after I had asked him. I would be a shame if she missed anything important."
Aika replied with a slight hint of suspicion about the situation, but there was a genuine concern in her voice.
"Though, I did tell her something interesting."
"What was that?"
"I said that if you two ever started dating, then she would have a blast enjoying your 'large equipment'."
Aika answered with a perverted glint in her eyes and it didn't take him long to realize what she was talking about causing his face to become redder. A lot of the girls who were in the classroom also begun to blush up a storm in almost unison as a certain image entered their head.
"Oi, would you stop talking about my little brother like that?"
"I don't know what you're getting heated about. I guess that there is one more thing that you have in common."
Aika added as she starting dragging her eyes downwards toward the waist of the brother causing them to cover themselves with their hands.
""No one asked for that!""
Both Issei and Kazuki shouted in unison with their faces a similar shade of red.
"Oh, you're right," Aika said as she gave a perverted smirk as her eyes drifted towards the girls in the classroom. "Alright ladies, who want to know the full measurements of your Kazuki Hyoudou?"
[…Ohhhh.]
All the girls in the classroom started to make the same sound as they drifted closer and closer towards Aika with a deep blush painting their faces.
"I hang around you guys too much!"
Kazuki exclaimed in an annoyed manner as he glanced towards his usual group of four people…all of them are a perverted person in their of right bordering on sexual harassment.
After school ended, Kazuki went to his usual Kendo Club meetings, but all the student left earlier than usual after doing their normal practice matches. And at the moment, he was sitting on a wooden bench at a familiar park, he used to play together with his older brother as children. Kazuki sat at the bench covering his face using his hand as he stared into the blue sky above him.
"I swear, I need to find around the group to hang out with. Since starting as a first-year, I was just hanging around all four of the most of the time whenever I'm not at Kendo Club. And I usually just hung out with Raynare for most of the time."
Kazuki complained to himself after realizing that fact, before asking himself a question.
"But, where did Raynare go? She just stopped coming to school a couple of days ago without saying anything."
His mind just started to wander off to all the times that they had been around one another, then he started to go to the time that he met her as "Yuuma Amano".
"I wouldn't have guessed that she was a fallen angel, but she did help me a lot in the past couple of days. I guess that I'm feeling a little lonely now without…."
His mind begun to wander off to the times she hugged his arm or gotten closer to him, with his mind recalling the incredibly soft sensation that came from her….
"Wh-What am I thinking about?!"
Kazuki questioned as he suddenly sat himself up causing the object around his neck to float in front of his face. It was a silver cross that he would normally keep wrapped around his neck. As his eyes drifted towards it, a sudden memory came into his mind.
"What're the chances that I'll…?"
"Hawaau!"
Kazuki stopped as he heard the sound of a young girl letting out a notably cute sound, but then he looked up and noticed that she had fallen on the ground. But, he also noticed what she was dressed in.
"…a nun? And what a clumsy way to fall."
Kazuki had caught just a slight glance about what happened, and it seemed as if she had her arms spread out open before falling to the ground. That also reminded him about what happened in the past. Not wanting to leave her on the ground like that, Kazuki stood up and started to walk in her direction.
"Excuse me, are you alright?"
Kazuki questioned as he arrived in front of her holding out his hand so that he can assist her in standing up, but he had done so in English.
"Auu. Why do I keep on tripping over…," hearing that part caused him to let out a slight laugh. "I'm sorry. Thank you very much~."
Based on her and speech, she sounds as if she were from another country, but that was obvious enough for him to tell based on her clothing. There wasn't an issue for him to understand her, as he learned how to speak and interpret the English language, as well as others. As soon as he touched her hand, Kazuki realized how soft that it was and as soon as she stood to her feet, there was a sudden gust of wind that caught her veil caused him to catch it out of reflex.
"Here's your…veil."
Kazuki was immediately taken aback and captivated by the girl he was staring at.
Her blonde hair seemed almost golden as it shined in the sunlight, extending past her shoulders and reaching her waist, green eyes looked almost like emeralds or a deep never-ending forest. There was also a silver cross wrapped around her neck. Her innocent and cute expression also seemed to steal his heart.
"A-An angel, that's the only description that I can give."
There was no other description that he could give the blonde beauty standing in front of him. Noticing the look he was giving him the blonde nun called out to the unnamed person.
"Ah. S-Sorry. Umm…."
Hearing her call out to him caused Kazuki to realize their situation.
"I-I'm sorry about that. Here's your veil."
Kazuki apologized as he handed the blonde nun her veil, which she took with a bright smile that seems to almost steal his heart for a second time.
"Ah, thank you."
"So are you traveling?"
Kazuki asked the obvious question as he noticed the traveling bag that she was carrying around her.
"No, that's not it. I was appointed to the Church in this town…. You must be a resident of this town. It's a pleasure to meet you."
She greeted him before noticing the silver cross that was wrapped around his neck.
"Ah, are you a believer of god as well?"
She questioned with stars basically in her eyes.
Thump.
"How many times is she going to steal my heart," Kazuki questioned as he nodded his head with a nervous smile on his face. "Ah, yes. Since I was I, child, I always prayed with a childhood friend of mine and even attended the same church together."
Kazuki replied honestly bringing out memories from the past that caused him to falter a bit.
"Ah, this must be due to the grace of God. We're ever conversing with one another."
She said with one of the brightest smiles that he had ever seen while holding her hands together and prayed.
"I have been in trouble since I got here. Ummm…I can't speak Japanese that well…. I was lost and other people couldn't understand what I was saying…. But, it seems that you're able to understand me well."
"Well, I took some extra classes in school that taught different languages."
As Kazuki talked with the unnamed nun, his mind drifted off to one Christian church that was on Kuoh, but that one had been abandoned around the same time "that" person left. Over the years, he had gone back and forth to that church and it just became abandoned due to no one taking care of it.
"I guess that they're starting to rebuild the church again," Kazuki had surmised since she was here and she didn't seem like the kind of person to lie. "I think I know the church that you're talking about. I'm not doing much anything today, so I can show you the way. But, I may end up needing to lose to finish some…business."
The "business" that Kazuki was referring to was practicing the natural and flight abilities of Divine Dividing.
"Y-You do! T-Thank you~! This is all thanks to God!"
She replied in a truly happy tone as she held the cross in her hands.
Kazuki couldn't help but smile at the happiness that the girl was displaying in front of him, but there was another scream, this time from a young boy that caught their attention.
"Uwaaaaaah!"
It came from a young child with his mother sitting near him trying to calm down her son.
"Are you alright Yosh-kun?"
The child now named "Yosh-kun" seemed to have skinned his knee having fallen on the ground causing Kazuki to recall a similar incident occurring with him. He soon unconsciously started to walk towards the young boy and his mother with the blonde-haired nun following him. Kazuki who was the first person to make it arrived in front of the mother with a trustful smile on his face as he pulled out medical bandages from his backpack.
"It's alright, I've had similar injuries like this in the past too. It soon reached the point where I started carrying these around with me."
Kazuki explained with a generous smile to the mother and son as he wrapped up the boy's skinned knee.
"He's right. Boys shouldn't cry with a minor injury like this."
The blonde-haired nun added as she patted the child on top of his head with an angel-like smile and placed her hand on top of the wound on his knees.
Soon enough, both Kazuki and the mother were confused about the green orb that appeared in the palms of her hand. Though for Kazuki it was out of shock about the situation, while the mother was just dumbfounded about it. He first thought that it was magic, but then he had head from Sona that magic that can heal injuries are rare even for an upper-class magician.
"Could it be a sacred gear?"
Kazuki questioned as "Yosh-kun" felt the pain from his wound vanish as if it wasn't there.
"Here, your wounds are healed. The pain should be gone now."
She said with a cheerful smile as the boy stood up on his feet completely fine, but before he could say one word, his mother had taken him by his hand and pulled him towards her. At that moment, the mother had given the nun a cold look that seemed to cause the nun to shutter as if she were reliving a nightmare as her heart seemed to stop for a moment.
Noticing that look caused a reflexive reaction from Kazuki who protectively stood in front of her as the blonde nun looked almost surprised by his actions.
"I don't know what she did to Yosh-kun, but…."
"It was a simple magic trick," Kazuki lied knowing that the mother was acting irrationally. "Besides, I don't think that is the kind of reaction that one should get after helping your child."
"…."
The mother remained silent after hearing that from Kazuki but then began to walk away holding her son's hand, who continued to look back towards them.
"Thank you, Onee-chan and Nii-chan!"
"Yosh-kun," called out as he cheerfully waved his hand towards them as he walked off with his mother, but the blonde nun didn't seem to understand him.
"He said, 'Thank you, big sister and brother'."
Kazuki translated for her causing the blonde nun to smile brightly with renewed cheerfulness.
"…That power…."
"Yes, it's the power to heal. It's a wonderful power that God gave me."
It was a sacred gear, but there was something that caused her to become saddened, especially after that mother had given her that look. Kazuki thought about telling her about his sacred gear, but he didn't want to tell her that at the moment considering what happened. In response to the look of distress that was on her face, he had reached his hand out and patted her on top of her head.
"You didn't do anything wrong."
For some reason hearing that from him caused a bright smile to form on the face of the blonde nun.
"I'm fine," she said in a soft tone before recalling the look that the mother had given her. "…those eyes. Even in a country like this, they are no different from…."
Kazuki could hear that the nun had said something, but it was so low that he couldn't hear properly.
Both Kazuki and the unnamed blonde nun continued to head in the direction of the church, which she was meant to be assigned to. As soon as he stood in front of it, it seems the same as always, none of the windows were at all properly cleaned, though some things seemed intact. Seeing the church in front of them caused some memories to resurface in his head, but that thought stopped after hearing the ecstatic sound coming from the blonde nun.
"Yes, this is the place! I'm so glad."
She exclaimed as she held her hands together.
As she was excited about her arrival to the church, Kazuki reached into his pocket to pull out his phone and later noticed the current time.
"It's not that late, but I'll have to use as much time as I can," Kazuki thought as he stared at the nun. "So, I guess that I'll see you some other time."
"Please wait!"
He had heard a sudden shout from the blonde nun who held onto his hand for a moment, causing Kazuki to turn his attention towards her.
"I would like to make you some tea as gratitude for bringing me here…."
She seemed troubled about his sudden attempt at leaving and it almost compelled him to remain here, but there was a lot of things that he needed to practice for the future.
"I'd love to stay here, but there is something that I need to do."
"…but that's…."
Seeing her trouble and sad look caused him to falter causing him to almost want to remain here with her, but he wasn't able to predict what would happen in the future and wanted to make proper preparations.
"I forgot to tell you this before," Kazuki said as he placed his hand on top of her causing her cheek to turn a slight shade of red. "My name is Kazuki Hyoudou, but you can just call me Kazuki."
"My name is Asia Argento! Please call me Asia!"
"Since I can't join you for tea," he said as he reached into his backpack and pulled out a pen and paper, then the nun now named Asia stared at him in confusion as he wrote down something. "Here's my cellphone number, and if there's anything that you need or if you want to talk, then you can give me a call."
After receiving the phone number from Kazuki, Asia stared at him in almost disbelief as she could practically feel the tears starting to well up in the corners of her eyes.
"Okay, Kazuki-san."
Asia had replied utilizing the proper Japanese honorifics, meaning that she had learned a bit about the countries' language, then she continued to happily wave his hands at Kazuki who returned the wave. Kazuki continued to walk further and further away from the church until he couldn't see it anymore.
"If Asia-san doesn't know that much Japanese, then I think that I should at least teach it to her."
[…hmmm.]
"What Albion, are you starting to feel suspicious of her?"
Kazuki questioned as Albion would normally speak up whenever there was something important that he wanted to inform him about. But Kazuki would be surprised if that would be the case as Asia seemed to be the definition of innocent and Albion answered.
[No, there is something odd about that nun. I have been feeling the presence of other dangerous beings around you on one occasion of the other. I'm sure that you haven't noticed since you haven't yet trained in being able to sense the presence of others yet.]
"Could you tell who they were?"
Kazuki questioned becoming a little worried after hearing that.
[Well, most of them have just been normal humans.]
"Normal humans, then I could be stray exorcists?"
He had guessed since he heard that there were some exorcists from the church who strayed and as a result went to fallen angels to receive protection due to leaving god.
"Well, I thought that I just had to be concerned with just fallen angels," he thought as he placed a hand under his chin in a thinking position. "I know, I have to consider that other humans will also become enemies."
"Well, at least you'll have my help in dealing with them."
A sudden familiar voice reached his ears causing him to immediately turn in the direction of that person.
As soon as he faced that person, it was, in fact, Raynare who waved her hand in his direction with a single on her face.
"Hey, Kazuki-kun~"
"Raynare, where have you been? You just vanished out of nowhere."
"Oh~ was Kazuki-kun worried about me?"
Raynare questioned in a sultry tone causing a slight reaction from Kazuki who stiffened a bit.
"I-It's not that, I-I'm just saying that you disappeared without saying anything."
"It's nothing, I was just finishing a quest from Azazel-sama."
"What was the request?"
"Um, something that we may need to worry about in the future."
Raynare replied as she pushed a stray strand of hair that appeared in front of her face.
"Well, since you're here could you assist me with something?"
"Hmm?"
After hearing his request, Raynare made a slight sound that displayed her interest in it.
It was nighttime and in the Occult Research Club, Issei was standing in front of Rias, who sat behind her desk in a professional fashion and a serious expression on her face.
"Don't ever go near a church."
Those were the first words that left her mouth as Issei had stared at her with a raised brow due to how confused he was about it.
"For us, devils, the church is enemy territory. Doing something as simple as stepping into one could result in a rift between the devils and god. Angels who serve God will always be on the lookout and it wouldn't be strange for an angel to strike you with a spear of light."
Though it was confusing for him at first, it was a basic thing to tell a new devil and Rias wanted to ensure that he wouldn't get himself into a dangerous situation like that.
"Don't get involved with anyone from the church. The most notable being the Exorcists their power is supported due to the prayer of god, this is especially true to exorcists who have sacred gears. These factors will be the same as standing on the boundary of death, Ise."
Issei could tell that Rias was being serious, but there was something else in her eyes, which displayed concern.
"Y-Yes."
"You were able to avoid death as a human after being resurrected as a devil. But, devils that are exorcised will be terminated without a trace. There is nothing left and you feel nothing. Do you know how serious that is?"
It didn't take Issei long to realize that Rias was just being concerned for him after being killed once, then attacked a second time by a fallen angel after being turned into a devil. For the members of her peerage who have known her for much longer could also tell that was her intentions.
"Ara ara, did you finish lecturing him?"
Akeno suddenly questioned after appearing behind him without making a single presence, causing Issei to let out a sudden scream, "Owaa" as he turned to face his upperclassmen. Rias could tell that Akeno was more serious compared to before and question.
"Did something happen Akeno?"
"We received an order for a hunt from the Arch Duke."
Upon hearing that from Akeno, both Kiba and Koneko, as well as Rias made a serious expression on their face, but Issei just looked more confused about it.
"Alright, let's head out."
[Right, Buchou.]
Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko all replied seriously.
"Ise, it's time to see how devils fight."
All the members of the Occult Research Club were heading in the direction of an unused building outside Kuoh, in that time, Rias had explained the concept of "Stray Devils". Though there are several reasons, however, after a human is reincarnated into a devil, they attain power much greater than when they were humans. There are some cases when a servant either kills or betray their master for their interest and will begin to wreak havoc in various locations. And if found, the stray would be eliminated by either their master or others.
As soon all of them entered the building, even Issei could sense the killing intent within the air causing both of his legs to shake in response to it.
"…smells like blood."
Those were the first words that came from Koneko as she covered her nose with her uniform.
"Ise, as I said before this can be a good chance for me to explain the traits of servants."
Rias said as she continued to walk down the abandoned hallway the moonlight seeped through all of the broken windows giving a more ominous feel. She later started to explain the history of the devils' forces who all died in a big war that occurred between the Three Factions along with the pure-blood devils. Afterward, it was decided that the current pure-blood devils should be in command of a small group using the system of chess in the human world as a reference, creating the Evil Piece System.
"This system was made in the past few hundred years, and this unexpectedly became popular among Devils with a peerage."
"Popular?"
Issei questioned.
"They started to compete with each other. As a result, high-class devils began a game similar to chess using the servant devils known as the Rating Game. This game soon became popular among devils and now there are even tournaments for it. The strength of their Pieces and also how strong they are at the game affects the devils' social position and their peerage."
Rias explained, then went onto say that she hadn't reached a certain age where she could participate in the Rating Game yet. After hearing about the different pieces, Issei asked a sudden question.
"Buchou, what are my role and traits? And white piece am I?"
"Ise, you are…?"
Before Rias could answer there was a sudden chill that ran across them as the intent to kill has become stronger than before, meaning that the threat was approaching them.
"I can smell something disgusting, but I can also smell something delicious. Is it sweet? Or is it sour?"
A low threatening voice made it to their ears.
"Stray Devil Viser. We are here to eliminate you."
"Ketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketaketa…."
Upon hearing that declaration from Rias, Viser let out a creepier laugh that echoed around them causing an even greater chill within the room. From the shadow, a topless woman came from the shadows floating in the air with two spears in her hands, no it was something more peculiar. Along with Viser continuing to approach them, there were large footsteps that were approaching them. What had come into view was the bottom of a gigantic beast lower half and the woman's upper half was attached to it measuring to five-meter tall. This was a stray devil.
"Leaving your master's side and rampaged as you please deserve death. And so, in the name of the Duke Gremory, I will gladly eliminate you!"
"You are cunning for a little girrrrrrl! I will rip your body, and color it in red just like your haaaaaaair!"
"Yuuto."
"Yes!"
In response to Rias' call, Yuuto placed his hand on the European sword on his side, then he sprinted towards the monstrous stray at a speed that Issei could barely follow.
"Ise, I will continue from the lecture beforehand."
"Yuuto is a Knight. Those who become a knight gain increased speed," Rias explained as his speed increased to where he vanished from sight. "Yuuto's greatest weapon is swords."
Yuuto stopped in front of Viser with his hand on the European sword sheathed at his side and unsheathed it causing the moonlight to reflect on the blade.
"Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
At the same time that Yuuto vanished, both the arms of Viser were sliced off along with the spears in her hands, causing blood to spew out from the wound. Issei looked astonished by what he had just witnessed.
"This is the specialty of Yuuto," Rias replied to Issei's surprised look. "Speed unable to follow with your eyes and the sword skill of a professional…these two combined makes Yuuto the fastest Knight."
Yuuto later reappeared near them using his enhanced speed, at the same time, Koneko started to walk towards Viser cracking her knuckles.
"Next Koneko is a Rook. Those who become a rook gains…."
"Damn inseeeeeeeeect!"
STOMP!
Enormous feet of the monster stopped on Koneko causing her petite figure to almost vanish and a reaction of shock from Issei who seemed prepared to jump in, but Rias held her hand out. Soon enough the enormous foot of Viser was being lifted and revealed Koneko holding it up.
"Those who become rook gains absolute strength and high defense. It's impossible for a devil of that caliber to stomp on Koneko."
"…fly."
Koneko spoke in her usual low and emotionless tone as she flung Viser into the air, following up with that display, she jumped into the air and punched Viser in the stomach launching her higher. Issei instead now became more stunned about the feat and recalled the words of his first client who said that Koneko had extreme strength. And it caused fear to well up within him.
"Lastly, Akeno."
"Yes, Buchou. Ara ara, what should I do?"
Akeno who remained by the side of Rias questioned in her usual tone while beginning to walk in the direction of the fallen Viser.
"Akeno is the Queen. She is the strongest one after me, the King. Akeno is the unbeatable Vice-President of our club who has all the traits of a Knight, Rook, and Bishop.
"Akeno is a [Queen]. She's the one who is the strongest after me. She is the unbeatable Vice-president of our club who has all the traits of [Pawn], [Knight], [Bishop], and [Rook].
"Guuuuuu…!"
The monstrous Viser looked towards Akeno who made a fearless almost frightening look.
"Ara ara seems like you still have some energy left in you. Then how about this?"
Akeno pointed her finger towards the skies, afterward, a thundercloud started to form and the clouds sparkled as a bolt of lightning came shooting downward on top of Viser.
"Gagagagagagagagagagagagaaa!"
The entire body of Viser came burned and smoking as lightning covered her almost completely.
"Ara ara looks like you still have some energy in you. Looks like you can take more."
"Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
Another bolt of lightning came down hitting the monster who sounded as if she were already starting to due, but a creepy smile formed on Akeno's face sending a chill down Issei's spine. It seemed that she was almost enjoying herself a little too much.
"Akeno excels at attacks using demonic-powers," Rias explained as she made a wryly smile. "Those who turned into a Bishop gains enhanced magic power and added to that, Akeno excels in using the natural elements such as lightning, ice, and fire. And most of all, she is the ultimate sadist."
Rias confessed caused another chill to run down Issei's spine as he heard Akeno had continued to laugh as she electrocuted Viser using lightning.
"Usually, she's very kind, but once the battle starts, she won't stop until she calms down."
"…Uuu, I'm scared of Akeno-san."
"You don't have to be afraid, Ise. Akeno is very kind to comrades, so it's not a problem. She even said that you were cute. Next time, get spoiled by her. She will hug you kindly."
Despite hearing the hugging part from Rias, Issei still felt a bit of fear as Viser was burned almost beyond natural recognition.
"Ufufufufufufufu. How much of my lightning can you take? Right, monster-san? You still can't die yet, okay? The one who finishes you off will be my master. Ohohohohohohoho!"
Akeno said as she stopped shocking Viser, then Rias stepped forward and stood in front of the fallen stray.
"Any last words?"
"Kill me."
"Then disappear."
Hearing those words were all that Rias needed to hear as she held out her hands causing a gigantic black mass of demonic power to appear in her hands and launched it towards Viser. It soon engulfed her and caused her to vanish from existence leaving nothing left. After confirming that, Rias let out a slight sigh and turns toward the other Occult Research Club members.
"It's over. Good work everyone."
Upon hearing that, all of them returned to their usual causal state.
Issei stared at everyone and realized how strong that all of them were causing him to want to desire to aim high as a devil. Though after hearing about all the pieces caused him to ask one question that Rias still haven't answered him.
"Buchou, there is still a thing that you didn't tell me."
"What is it?"
"My Piece…more like, what is my role as a servant."
Issei had heard about all the pieces that Kiba, Akeno, and Koneko had caused him to think about one more evil piece that wasn't explained by Rias.
"Ise, you are a Pawn."
Hearing that from her despite the smile that adorned her face caused a frown to appear on his face.
"I'm the lowest."
At around the same time, Kazuki had walked into his bedroom with a towel drying his wet brown hair making it a little more unkempt them before. After practicing with Raynare for almost the entire body, he returned home later that night and took a shower, while Issei continued with his business with the Occult Research Club. Resting on his dresser was the silver cross that had been wrapped around his neck at most times, aside from the time he kept it inside of his shirt at school.
"Well, I'm getting more used to Divine Dividing. Though without actual combat experience, I won't be able to train using Divide and I don't want to use Raynare as a test subject for that."
Kazuki started to converse with himself as this was one of the times when Albion wouldn't speak.
"I wonder if there's something that I can do aside from just halving power," he added. "I wonder if…."
BEEP BEEP BEEP
A sudden noise came from his cellphone and went to pick it up with a sigh.
"Hmm, who could be calling me at this hour," Kazuki questioned as he reached his hand out to pick it up. "It can either be Sona-senpai or Nii-san. …Hello."
"…ummm, is this Kazuki-san?"
It wasn't his brother or Sona, but it was instead Asia who nervously asked that question.
"Huh, Asia-san?"
"Ah, yes! I'm sorry for calling at this hour, but…," Asia had started further showing how nervous she was. "It is the first time that I've talked to someone like this. I wasn't doing much in the church now and I got a little too excited and just wanted to talk. But, I realize that it much be late and you wouldn't want to talk."
"I don't mind Asia," Kazuki replied with a genuine smile. "I'm interested to hear more about you?"
"Really?!"
Asia replied in a manner, which caused Kazuki to visualize the adorable expression that she was making.
"Ah, yes. Of course," Kazuki replied causing great happiness to well up within the blonde nun. "How are things at the church since you entered."
"…ah," Asia paused for a moment causing him to become a bit worried. "Ah, don't worry, everyone in the church has been quite kind to me. …Everything here is in disorder, but I'm sure that we shall fix things up in no time."
Kazuki could tell that Asia wasn't the kind of person to lie to anyone, but there was something about her tone that sounded exactly like that. Asia sounded almost sad as she was talking about the church, though she was happy after seeing it for the first time.
"Hey, Asia-san," Kazuki suddenly said in a calm tone. "Do you want me to talk more about Japan? I mean, if you remain here, then I may as well teach you a little bit about the culture. That's if you don't mind me talking a lot."
"N-No, that's quite alright. I'm interested in Japan, I don't know much about the language or culture. I was told to arrive here suddenly and didn't have time to learn much."
"Well, since I can't teach you much about the language over the phone. Then I guess that I could talk about the culture for now."
"That would be great."
Asia replied gratefully about the chance to learn about Japan, which caused Kazuki himself to also smile about how happy she seemed.
"Alright, first…."
After that both Kazuki continued to talk about Japanese culture over the phone, the latter was invested into every single word that came out of his mouth. To where both of them had lost track of time despite being late at night.
A/N: And there goes chapter four of The Twin Dragons, well this chapter was the official introduction of our favorite blonde nun. For The Twin Dragons, Asia will be paired with Kazuki since I feel that she would be a better match with him and that I wanted to at least one where Asia is apart of the OC's harem. Before that Kazuki started to make some progress in being able to use magic, as well as improve his skills for a potential fight and encountered a black cat (I'm sure everyone knows who it is). Near the end, Kazuki and Asia already started to build on their relationship with one another.
And as for the harems, there are finalized.
I hope that you liked the chapter, until next time.
Issei's Harem: Rias, Akeno, Koneko, Xenovia, Ravel, Lucia, Tsubasa, Kiyome, Elmenhilde, Roygun, Aika, Yasaka, Ingvild.
