Welcome to the next chapter of The Twin Dragons, but before starting. Let us answer some reviews:
altajir95: Thanks. Everyone did manage to hold back Kokabiel until Kazuki arrived in a manner that you'd expect from the hero. His revealing that and his reasons for wanting a war was the biggest mistake he's ever made, triggering Kazuki to unlock Balance Breaker and being brutalized. Yes, this was the reveal of Vali's sacred gear and dragon. Those two ended up going on their date, resulting in them later spending a romantic time together. And thanks as always.
The chosen one: Thanks for all that. Kazuki is going down good development since he was able to attain Balance Breaker against Kokabiel. And as his destined rival and older brother, Issei is going to come in right behind him. I did want to show more about their relationship since those two spent so much time in separate countries for so long. I thought this would be the best moment for them since their feelings for one another have been building up since childhood. That's going to be something as the two purest people from their group ended up losing their V-cards first. And that's quite the comment.
The5Reds: It was sure was a surprise for everyone based on the reviews. I thought that it would be the best moment for him.
Weslyschraepen: it would be awkward if Irina ended up becoming pregnant, but their parents wouldn't be mad about that since they've been pushing it so far.
Streetlife34: Thanks. I'm happy to hear that you liked the fight, and Kazuki unlocking Balance Breaker in the middle of it too. I got the idea since it went along with where the Heavenly Dragons came from too, in addition to the powers seeming to match him the most. Well, Asia and Irina are one of my favorite female characters in DxD, as well as since that seemed like the perfect moment for them.
Guest: That would be awkward.
Guest 2: It would be hilarious if that happened since it would ruin it for that scumbag.
Guest 3: I do have an idea of what's going to happen when Issei uses Juggernaut Drive during that battle against the Khaos Brigade and Diodora. But, thanks for the suggestion.
Darth Simp: I can see that as being something for Ophis to do to pass the time, more so if protecting him is a part of it. And if something did happen to him, then she wouldn't be happy about it. Well, I have a lot of things planned for the Twin Dragons.
That one guy: Thanks, I do love how things are going to the rewrite compared to the original. There are a lot of people who love the relationship between Kazuki and Asia. She is one of my favorite characters, so I put a lot of effort into making sure those moments are the best. I could see Kazuki doing that for his older brother, more so since he would be able to tell there's something wrong with him more so than the other girls.
Asia best girl: I do love how I wrote their relationship since Asia is one of the best girls. I am planning on her becoming an angel, and that sounds like an interesting idea.
Guest 4: I never want to see an Outrage Ophis since that might annihilate the planet when all she tried to do was eliminate one person.
Guest 5: I'm happy to hear that you like the rewrite and the relationship between Kazuki and Asia. And I did think about that idea once but decide to leave it as is.
Infinite Guest: Thanks. I do love the relationship that I did for Kazuki and Asia, as well as Irina. I have an idea of how Kazuki is going to be presented in the Oppai Dragon show. But, there could be embarrassing nicknames for him and those involved.
Guest 6: I'm glad to hear that you're liking both stories. I think that he would end up proposing to them at some point first.
Guest 7: Yes, that could be something that Ophis would expect from him.
MCRasengan: Thanks. It's good to hear that you like the rewrite.
Guest 8: That would be hilarious, more so since none of them will be able to make her leave if she appeared. It would be an interesting thing for Xenovia to ask Irina when she found out about it. Well, I think the same since after Irina, Asia has more of a connection to Kazuki. You would expect something of that nature from Gabriel since despite being older than most, she still maintains an innocence, which is comparable to Asia. I think that both of those suggestions might work out.
The Aftermath
It has been quite some time since the Excalibur and Kokabiel incident, within that time, Kazuki was able to spend more time with Irina, often accompanied by Asia too. It still surprised him how quickly those two became friends, of course, it could be possible due to their similar personalities. There were also moments where Mariah would hang out with them too, which allowed him to get to know her more too.
But, that made it more difficult for them to say goodbye to Irina again, however, it wasn't as sad as last time as he could see her again.
"Uh, Kazuki-san. Are you sad about Irina-chan leaving?"
Asia asked as she turned her head towards him.
"Yea, the last time she left, you looked like a wreck for a while."
Issei added after her.
Kazuki, Asia, and Issei were heading in the direction of the Occult Research Club room, having been called there for an important update. It became a regular occurrence for them despite not being members of the club. Instead of her looking jealous about it, Asia looked worried about him, not wanting to see the person she cared for sad.
"A little bit," Kazuki admitted but smiled. "But, not as sad as I was all that time ago, since I couldn't see Iri-chan for a long time until now. This time, I can teleport there and see her when I want to."
"That's good. I don't think that I could return to the Church again after all this time."
Asia looked sad after saying those words, causing him to look concerned for her.
He knew that Asia was happy in her new life with him and his parents, and was even able to make lots of friends, which was something she always wanted to do. But, she was raised in the Church and spent most of her time in their facilities offering her prayers to God. Although the truth about God's death was revealed to them, it doesn't change the fact that she grew up with and still maintains those beliefs.
"A Church, huh," Kazuki said before an idea entered his head, then smiled and placed a hand right on her head, catching her attention. "I think I got an idea that you might like Asia-chan."
"An idea?"
Asia asked, tilting her head cutely.
"That's a surprise for later."
Kazuki replied cryptically.
"Eh, are you thinking about something perverted?!"
"I don't want to hear that from you of all people!"
Kazuki added glaring at his older brother, who glared right back at him.
"But, seriously are you fine about it?"
Issei asked again, befitting an older brother worried about his younger brother.
"Yea, I'm fine."
Kazuki replied again as Issei accepted that response from him.
Just then, both of them soon entered the club room, where Rias and the others were waiting for them to hear the important update. And that answer was received without needing a response as soon as Kazuki and Asia walked inside of the room. Both stared shocked and confused after noticing the person, no two people sitting inside their club room casually.
"Hey, Sekiryuutei, Hakuryuukou, Asia."
"Hello, Kazuki-san, Asia-chan, Ise-san."
Kazuki, Asia, and Issei were greeted by Xenovia and Mariah.
Both of them weren't dressed in their usual clothing, instead of their school's female uniform without their shoulder cape on. Although Kazuki could see that Mariah was wearing black shorts underneath her skirt, which isn't at all surprising considering she wouldn't wear the skintight combat outfit. It all meant that Mariah was a rather modest woman when it came to what she wore.
Kazuki wasn't surprised seeing Mariah there since she couldn't return to the Church knowing that God's dead, but a bigger surprise was Xenovia's presence. Inside the room were, of course, the other members of the Occult Research Club.
"Wh…why, are you here!?"
Issei asked stunned to see both of them.
"Xenovia-san, Mariah-san? What're you doing there?"
Asia uttered shocked seeing them there.
However, the biggest surprise came as black wings, devil wings came out of Xenovia's back, causing a shocked look to appear on their face.
"After finding out about the death of God, I became a Devil as a self-abandonment. I was able to be reincarnated using Rias Gremory's last Knight piece. And I was also placed in this school. So from now on, I'm a second-year student and also a member of the Occult Research Club. Let's get along, Ise-kun, Kazu-chan."
""Hahahahaha!""
Kazuki and Mariah burst up from laughter after hearing Xenovia's attempt at mimicking Irina, which sounded a bit bad after hearing it for the first time. Not thinking anything of it and just believing that she managed to make them laugh didn't bother Xenovia much.
"…Don't make such a cute sound with a serious voice."
Issei criticized giving her a blank look, causing Xenovia to cross her arms as she looked to be contemplating.
"I copied Irina, but it looks like it's not easy."
"But reincarnating!? Buchou. Is it all right to use such a valuable piece?"
Issei asked looking at Rias, who was sitting behind her desk, with Akeno standing beside her watching as everything occurred right in front of her.
"Of course, having a swordswoman who is a wielder of Durandal makes it the perfect two-swordsmen alongside Yuuto," Rias replied happily, loving the fact that she was able to get a new Knight from this incident. Having one of the legendary holy swords would be a great asset to the peerage, which is something that none of the others in the peerage could deny. "I did offer Mariah a spot too, but she rejected it."
"While it would be fun being on the same peerage as my older brother. I didn't feel like becoming a devil."
Mariah said, which showed that her faith was still strong despite knowing God was dead.
"But, I became a devil now, and I can't go back now," Xenovia said as she started thinking about various things on the topic. "No, maybe this was the right thing for me to do. Hmmm, but since God, if dead, my life up until now has been pointless. But, serving under a devil who was once my enemy, more so the sister of Lucifer….."
Xenovia seemed to have continued to contemplate her decision at that moment.
"Ha, it is quite ironic that the girl who talked so much about Asia-san here ended up becoming a devil herself," a teasing voice could be heard coming from Mariah as she glanced over at Xenovia wearing a smirk. "Oh, I wonder what Griselda would think if she ever found out about this."
"D-Don't bring G-Griselda into this. I-If she f-finds out about this, she'll kill me!"
Xenovia started reacting in a manner that didn't suit her at all based on her previous interactions with them from before. Seeing her reaction caused Mariah to let a laugh escape from her mouth, causing them all to believe that whoever this Griselda is, she has some impact on her.
"What about Irina?"
Issei asked as Xenovia and Mariah looked a little bit complicated after hearing that.
"Irina returned to headquarters with Balba's corpse, the four Excaliburs cores, and our Excaliburs. As long as the cores remain intact, then it would be possible to recreate the Excaliburs again. So, we completed our missions, but Irina ended up returning alone."
Xenovia replied as she explained the situation in a serious tone.
"So, what about Durandal and Almace?"
"I returned Excalibur Destruction since another owner could be found. But, Durandal and Almace are the special exceptions since most artificial users are unable to use them," Xenovia explained before mentioning something. After I mentioned God's death, the officials became silent and I was excommunicated soon after. I can see what the Hakuryuukou meant from before. I became an outsider and charged as a heretic. Even a Durandal wielder will be cut off and removed in a situation like this. It was the same with Asia Argento."
Hearing those words from her mouth, Asia felt bad for her despite all the things that Xenovia had previously said to her the first time they met. It was something that Kazuki could see on her face.
"I told you that you should have said something else. But, you never listen to me."
"What about you Mariah?"
Kazuki asked turning his attention toward her.
"Well, I said that after my older twin brother had been turned into a devil. I felt as if I couldn't continue my mission as an Exorcist, and left as a sign of atonement."
Mariah replied a little bit dramatically, causing Yuuto and Kazuki, as well as the others in the room, to give her an odd look on their face.
"That sounds a bit dramatic don't you think, Mariah?"
Yuuto pointed out wryly.
"That's the point~"
Mariah replied cutely as she gave her brother a thumbs up while sticking out her tongue.
"Irina was the luckiest among us," Xenovia pointed out after Mariah. "Because she was wounded, she wasn't on the battlefield and ended up not hearing about the truth. She has a stronger belief that I do, and likely even more than Mariah does. If she found out about God, then I wouldn't be able to tell what would happen to her."
Hearing that caring tone from Xenovia was surprising for them, which made them believe that she did think of her as a close friend. And that comment was something that Mariah could agree with too.
"Yea, Iri-chan wouldn't have been able to mentally handle the truth and would likely be out of it for a long time. It would have been hard for her to adjust to that," Mariah added after Xenovia. "But, it was a little sad seeing her off instead of leaving with her."
"I noticed that both of you were crying the entire time, while hugging," Xenovia pointed out much to Mariah's embarrassment. "She was disappointed that I became a devil. I couldn't tell her the reason why, so it was an awkward farewell for us. We've been partners for a long time, so it's weird thinking that we might be enemies the next time we meet."
There was some silence in the room after that was brought up, but the silence was cut short as Rias revealed a piece of information to them.
"Due to the seriousness of the situation, the Church has made contact with the Underworld. To be more precise, the Maou about this incident. They said, 'We would like to make contact with you because of the clear dishonest actions of the fallen angels, even though we feel unsatisfactory about this', Rias said noting that the Church, who treated them as enemies in the past came in contact with them. "They also apologized about Balba because of the mistake of letting him escape in the past."
"Well, at least the Church apologized on that account."
Kazuki uttered, not knowing how to feel about that, and he's not even on the Underworld's side technically.
"But this school is truly terrifying. Because there's another sister of Maou attending this school."
Xenovia said after a sigh escape from her mouth, recalling her reaction to hearing that Rias and Sona were both the younger sisters as one of the four Maou.
"The truth about what happened during the Excalibur Incident has been sent to Heaven and the Underworld by the Governor-General, Azazel. Raynare sent her report about what happened with Kokabiel, who was the cause of the incident in the first place. As Raynare said the other Grigori leaders didn't know about the incident and the actions of their fellow leaders. Because he tried breaking the tension between the factions and attempting to start another war, Kokabiel was is now frozen in Cocytus for eternity."
Rias explained the situation to everyone, who agreed with what happened.
Those who knew about Cocytus knew that Kokabiel wouldn't be coming back again since that was the lowest part of the Underworld, where the most terrible and dangerous people go.
"Though it ended due to the intervention of the Wendish Dragon, the situation ended up being stopped by one of their own."
At the mention of that, Issei and Kazuki had thought to that moment, where Vali came in and dominated Kokabiel donned armor similar to their Scale Mail. Based on the name and how both their Dragon partners acted, there's a connection between the three dragons.
"Soon enough, there is going to be a meeting between the representatives from the three Factions. There seem to be something that Azazel wants to talk about to us all. Raynare, who temporarily returned to Grigori afterward said that I was an apology for the incident. But, I thought that it's suspicious that he would apologize."
Rias said wondering what the Governor-General of the Fallen Angels was thinking.
"Azazel isn't the kind of person you're thinking about. He might be weird, but it's not like he wants a war."
Kazuki ended bringing that up, not that he was defending Azazel much, but he felt that he needed to mention that part since the Governor-General has been helping him. Knowing that Kazuki did have some history with Azazel did end up clearing some tension, but people like Rias and Akeno didn't know what to think.
"Well, either way, we were all invited to that meeting too. All of us have to give our reports about what happened during the incident since we were all involved."
Rias revealed.
"Are you serious!?"
Issei asked surprised as Kazuki turned his attention toward him.
"You know, you don't need to scream when you're surprised about something all the time?"
Kazuki pointed out as Issei glared straight at him, and a question came to his mind.
"…The Wendish Dragon belongs to Grigori, right?"
Issei asked that question, being more directed at Xenovia, who already warned them about that.
"That's right. The Church has heard that Azazel has been gathering Sacred Gear users for a long time, the most notable being those who have Longinus. I don't know what he has been thinking, but that is something that has worried the Church. The Wendish Dragon is among their top fighters, being ranked as the fourth or fifth strongest among them including the Grigori leaders. At this point, he is stronger than you two, the current Sekiryuutei and Hakuryuukou."
Xenovia explained as Issei was worried since even with the great power that Vali showed, he was still the fourth or fifth strongest among their group. It was true that Kazuki likely could have defeated Kokabiel if he hadn't been interrupted like that, but the others could sense that Vali was superior in strength.
"…That's right. There is also something that I need to apologize for too," Xenovia said standing up from her seat, then started approaching Asia. "I must apologize to Asia Argento for things that I said before. Since God is dead, then his love and help didn't too. No, even then, I said things that I shouldn't have. I'm sorry, Asia Argento. So, hit me much as you want."
Xenovia bowed her head in front of Asia, who looked surprised about the fact that she would even allow her to hit her as a means of making amends. As expected, in response to those words, Asia waved her hands right in front of her, not wanting to do that.
"…No, I don't intend to do something like that, Xenovia-san. I love my current lifestyle. Even though I'm unable to return to the Church, I was able to meet someone…," Asia said blushing as her eyes went to Kazuki, who knew the meaning of those words. "…people important to me. I was able to gain this happiness because I was kicked out of the Church. I am happy because of the place that I was able to call home and the people I met here."
Xenovia was surprised about those words as Asia smiled cheerfully and brightly at her like the Virgin Mary.
"I wouldn't try convincing her," Kazuki added as he placed his hand on Asia's head as she blushed. "Asia-chan is not the kind of person who'd hold a grudge over something like that, let alone slapping someone for it. After all of the things that we've been through. I think that even I can let it go at least this once. Also, call me Kazuki instead of the Hakuryuukou."
Hearing the comments from both Asia and Kazuki, both of whom she directed her hostility toward at one point is forgiving her, caused Xenovia to give a faint smile.
"So, you, me, Mariah, and Kazuki are the only Christians that have found about God's death. I won't be able to say anything about divine punishment anymore now. I, who was a holy sword user who had been admired and at one point held in high regards became a heretic. I can't forget about how their eyes and attitudes changed when they saw me."
"Well, like Asia-chan here, you can find something else to live for. Right, Xenovia?"
Mariah said as she stood beside Xenovia smiling.
"Right," Xenovia nodded her head, then started heading in the direction of the door. "Then, I'll be leaving now. I told Rias Gremory this, but there are still a lot of things that I need to know before transferring to this school."
"Uuumm," Asia called out stopping Xenovia from leaving the room as she turned around to face her. "On the next weekend, I'm going to go out to play with everyone. Would you also like to join, Xenovia-san?"
"Next time then," Xenovia said before making a bitter smile. "This time I'm not interested. Except…."
"Except?"
"Can you take me around the school next time?"
Xenovia asked wearing a smile on her face.
"Yes!"
Asia replied wearing a bright smile.
Compared to the first time that they met Xenovia, she was now calmer and gave off an awkward feeling as if she didn't know how to interact with others.
"I will swear it in the name of my Durandal that I will act as a Knight under Rias Gremory," Xenovia stated before turning her attention over towards Kiba. "I also would like to have a battle with the Holy-Demonic Sword owner as well at some point."
"Alright. I won't lose next time."
Kiba declared smiling at Xenovia confidently.
"I hope that everyone will forgive Xenovia for whatever she does. She can be a little bit awkward when it comes to figuring out what normal people do."
Mariah brought up causing Xenovia to look a little bit flustered at her comment as she started walking outside the club room. Seeing that everything regarding the stolen Excalibur and Kokabiel was resolved, all of them returned to their regular lives.
"Now. Since everyone has returned, let's start the club activity again!"
[YES!]
Everyone aside from Kazuki, Asia, and Mariah, who weren't members of the Occult Research Club.
"Mariah, what about you? Is there anything that you need to handle before starting school here?"
"Hmm, likely some things, but I finished most of them some time ago. I wonder what the students' reaction would be after finding out that Isaiah and I are twins."
"I can see you're thinking up something dramatic."
Kazuki said noticing ideas seemed to be entering Mariah's head as plainly seen on her face.
Afterward, Kazuki went to perform his club activities with Asia joining him at the Kendo Club, while Mariah went to finish all her preparations to enroll in Kuoh Academy.
The next morning, Xenovia and Maria had become official students at Kuoh Academy; the latter joining the same classroom as Issei, Kazuki, Asia, and Raynare; and the former joining the same classroom as Kiba. And as soon as both of the new twins were seen walking through the halls.
"Ehhhhh?!"
"Kiba-kyun has as twin sister?!"
"She looks as beautiful a princess. It goes along with our princess."
Those were some of the comments that Kiba and Mariah could see as they walked down the halls, the older twin started feeling a little embarrassed from all the comments. If it was a normal situation, then he would just laugh it all off. This time, it was different since Kiba was walking side by side with his younger sister, with who he reunited and felt as if it was a dream.
Since the moment, the two of them had dreams about being able to experience things such as this whenever the two talked. But, now that, was happening right here and now all because the most hated thing in his life returned, which brought back the closest person to him.
"It's kinda ironic when I think about it. Both the most hatred and loved things came back to my life."
Most of the students could tell that Kiba's smiles this time looked happier and gentle compared to all the times he smiled around them. It didn't take them long to arrive inside his classroom, as the students all looked surprised in finding Mariah standing beside Kiba.
"Eh, am I dreaming, because it looks as if there is a female Yuuto?"
"No, I think that I'm seeing a girl who looks like Kiba-kun."
"Is she his twin or something?"
Several discussions were going on around the classroom after the students noticed the similarities that were between Kiba and Mariah.
"Alright, everyone settles down. Would you like to introduce yourself?"
"Thanks, sensei."
Mariah said as she noticed that Kiba started heading over toward his seat, while stood in front of the entire class as the students stared at her with interest.
"Hello, everyone. My name is, Mariah Beaumont. I'm happy to meet all of you," Mariah said giving a gentle smile as she noticed the confusion from the students. "I'm sure that you all have noticed that I look a lot like Isa…Kiba-niichan. So, if there are any questions that you want to know. I would be happy to answer them."
Once she said that there were immediately several students raising their hands and begging to be called upon to asked the question on their mind.
"Alright, I think that I'll go with you."
Mariah said as she pointed at the girl in the first row.
"How come you and Kiba-kun have two different names?"
"Oh, there's a rational reason for that."
Mariah replied as Kiba sighed a bit.
"Here we go."
He thought and smiled wryly, knowing the words that would come out of her mouth next.
"Well, it's quite the tale. My brother and I grew up in an orphanage but were adopted by two different families, so we were separated for a long time. I took on the surname Beaumont from the people who raised me and my dear brother took on the name his adopted family had," Mariah answered in a dramatic tone. "It was such a long time that we spent separated from one another, but through a twist of fate, we reunited here. And I'm happy that I was able to reunite with my older brother again."
[Uuuuu! We feel so sorry for you, Mari-chan!]
Immediately, Mariah received support and sympathy from the students in front of them, most of them had tears in their eyes. It was such a tearful tale for them to hear, twin siblings, being separated from one another and coming back together in a twist of fate. Although it was a little bit far from the actual truth, it was enough to convince the students and matched Kiba's story for the school.
"Mariah sure does love dramatics, and the fact that she can convince people this well makes it as if she can be an actress."
Kiba said laughing lightly about how Mariah was able to convince the students here and even the teacher, who's at the brink of tears too.
"M-Mariah, I think that you should sit beside your brother."
"Thanks, sensei."
Mariah replied as she walked over to sit beside her brother, who was still surprised about how quickly she was able to earn the favor of the students. Noticing his expression, she turned towards Kiba and gave him a cheerful smile, showing that she was looking forward to what would happen next. In response to this, Kiba smiled look as the students started calming down and the teacher started the class lesson.
At around the same time, inside the classroom, where Issei, Kazuki, Asia, and Raynare were, the students were still going about their own business. All the usual girls such as Asia, Aika, Katase, and Murayama were gathered around Raynare, who had her head laying on her desk exhausted.
"Uh, Yuuma-san, are you alright?"
Asia asked worriedly, finding it odd for her to be this tired.
"I'm fine, Asia-chan, I just didn't get a lot of sleep at home."
Raynare replied as she kept her head on the table.
"It must have been something, I haven't heard from you in a couple of days."
Aika said as she sat on the desk beside her.
"Sorry about that, I had a bit of a family situation and couldn't get in contact with anyone until now," Raynare said, going with the cover story, which was drawn out by Azazel himself. "My father is a CEO of a certain business and ended up exhausting himself. So, I had to leave and watch over him for a bit."
"Is that so," Aika asked as she fixed the position of her legs as she stared at Raynare. "Well, I hope that your dad is doing fine, Yuuma-chan. But, it looks as if we've received some interesting new foreign transfer students."
"Yea and one of them is Kiba-kyun's younger twin sister."
"I was so surprised to see them walking together in the halls."
Katase and Murayama replied still surprised after seeing Kiba and Mariah together.
"Hmmm, well it looks like our school now has two more twins. I wonder if that means that the oldest one is also a pervert deep down like a certain one we know."
Aika said smirking deviously as she stared over towards Issei, who seemed to have heard her.
"Oh, like I want to hear that from you!"
Issei said standing up from his seat, then glared over towards Aika.
"Huh, I am not a pervert. I am simply a deep and passionate lover certain male specimen."
Aika replied, but that in itself sounded perverted, which was something that everyone aside from Asia was able to agree with.
"Students settle down, and get into your seats," their teacher entered the room as the students all started getting in their seats, and caught their attention. "I'm sure that most of you are aware of this already, but we have a new transfer student enrolling into school. And one of them will be entering this class with the rest of you. So, please, I want all of you to get along with her."
[Yes!]
All the students replied, the males being more interested, since most of them knew that it would be a female, and that enticed their teenage curiosities. But, Issei, Kazuki, Asia, and Raynare already knew who this new transfer student would be.
"You can come in now."
Hearing the teacher's comment, caused the student to enter the classroom, and resulted in all the male students' attention being drawn towards them.
It was Xenovia who ended up standing in front of all the students, looking a bit awkward since it was the first time that she was in a situation like this. But, it didn't look as if she was registering the fact that the male students were looking at her figure, the most notable being the duo of the Perverted Trio.
"Damn, she has a great body."
Matsuda said smiling after simply looking at Xenovia's body.
"B87-W58-H88," Motohama said as he was adjusting his classes. "Such good proportions."
"Matsuda-kun, Motohama-kun, if there's another outburst like that, I'll have to have another discussion with both of you after school again," hearing that comment from their teacher caused them to become silent. "Please could you introduce yourself to the class?"
"…," Xenovia nodded her head, then started speaking to the students, who would be her classmates now. "Hello, my name is Xenovia, no last name. I don't have much experience in conversing with others since I've never really gone to school before. But, I hope that I could get to know everyone and learn."
Xenovia was speaking more in an awkward and almost shy manner catching the attention of the students who all found it endearing.
"Don't worry, Xenovia, we'll be your friends!"
Murayama called out.
"Yes, we'll teach you anything that you need to know!"
Katase added after her, causing Xenovia to almost smile at the support that she was receiving from the students in front of her.
"There's no way that someone as impassive as Xenovia thought about that on her own."
Raynare thought as she gave a blank stare.
"Mariah coached Xenovia on what to say to others."
Kazuki thought something that even Issei was able to guess too.
"Well, then Xenovia, I hope that you'll be able to adjust well to school life. And if there's anything that you need to know, talk to your fellow students or some to a teacher like me."
"Thank you."
Receiving those helpful words from her teacher, Xenovia nodded her head and started heading in the direction of an unused desk. It was close enough to Issei, making it possible for her to converse with them without needing to raise her voice much.
"How does it feel being a first-time student?"
Issei asked leaning near her.
"I didn't think that would be this unnerving and uncomfortable," Xenovia said as she leaned forward and began to speak in a low enough tone where no one could hear her. "It was easier fighting against things like vampires and devils…no offense."
"Well, you're a devil too," Issei pointed out, almost reminding Xenovia about that point, while staring at her with a weird expression too. "But, the first day of school can be hard on anyone. So, if there's anything that you need do as the teacher said and come to one of us. I mean, we're on the same peerage too, so we would end up needing to support each other. Right?"
"Right?"
Xenovia gave a faint smile after hearing that comment from Issei, then looked to see a saintly smile from Asia.
She couldn't believe what was happening at this moment. She, a former warrior from the Church who fought and wielded two legendary holy swords was attending the same class as the people she previously antagonized. There was no sense of hostility from them despite all the things she said to them, and they were even supporting her. It felt as if the things she was going to experience here would end up being something she'd end up enjoying.
Their classes continued from there, with both Mariah and Xenovia receiving attention from their fellow students, a common thing when it came to foreign students. But, more so than the former, the latter was able to give them an assortment of casual conversations without concerns. Although, even the awkward response from Xenovia got a lot of attention from the female students.
"Wow, that was a fun first day. Never thought that I'd ever get to experience going to school like a normal girl."
Those were the first words to come from Mariah as she was walking with Kazuki, Asia, and Raynare somewhere else. Although, Mariah and the other two could have guessed the location since it was a place that all the three of them have been to beforehand. Once school ended, Kazuki, who didn't have club activities since their club adviser told the others that Kendo Club was canceled today.
He and the others wondered what was going on since it wasn't like Kaito to call off club activities this often, and it caused some concerns for them. Due to that, Kazuki was able to share the idea that came to mind at one point following the Kokabiel Incident.
"Yea, I can see that. I also heard from Yuuto-kun that you left quite the impression on your classmates."
Kazuki noted as he turned in her direction.
"Well, I think that's what happens when your long-lost twin enrolls into your school. There's also the dramatic little tale that I told to the entire classroom."
"I can tell that you like dramas, don't you?"
"Not like, I love drama programs," Mariah noted, holding her hands together squealing a little. "There's always an interesting drama program no matter where I go. One, where you're unable to be with the one you love. Another where you're nearing the end of your life and want that one last chance to achieve your dreams."
Kazuki could see that she was right when she said that she loved drama programs as there were signs her eyes were sparkling. Hearing that one from Mariah caused Raynare to come up beside her with a good deal of interest in her eyes.
"Did you see that one when the man…?"
"…cheating on his wife with her sister, then had the nerve of attempting to snap at her for questioning her."
Mariah finished, sounding annoyed about whatever program she was talking to about now, stirring up Raynare's attention more.
"I know right, he was such a scumbag attempting to place all the blame on her. She was such a kind and caring wife and mother to his children, but all he did was place blame on her for things that weren't her fault."
"Such a terrible man."
"That sounds horrible."
As Kazuki kept walking, he couldn't help staring at the three women (Asia agreeing despite not knowing because she found that wrong). He wasn't able to get involved in the conversation and simply listened in as all three of the young women talked about drama programs.
"Well, this is something that we can talk about later. I never thought that I'd be able to share gentle conversations like this with an Exorcist before. Most of the rogues at Grigori are just unlikeable people," Raynare said finding this as a relief and nice change of pace. "But, I'm sure that we're all wondering the same thing here, right?"
"Right."
Mariah said as she stopped walking, then turned around to face Kazuki after arriving at their destination.
"Kazuki-san, what're we doing back at this Church?"
Mariah asked pointing at the Church, which Maria, Irina, and Xenovia had previously resided within and used as a base for the mission. It was an old church that hasn't been used in a long time and was previously used as the rogue Fallen Angels' base who tried stealing their Sacred Gears.
"We're going to fix it up as good as new."
Kazuki replied, confusing them.
"I'm sorry, but why?"
Raynare asked confused.
"I went to this place once before when I was a kid with Iri-chan, and it was a good place that was filled with what you would expect from a Church. I met a lot of good people here who taught me a lot of things that made me the kind of person I am now. Once Iri-chan and her parents left, no one used it anymore and soon became a den for people to abuse and destroy what it originally stood for," Kazuki said as he stood right in front of the old Church standing before him. "And besides…."
"Besides?"
Raynare asked again tilting her head.
"Neither Asia-chan nor Mariah can return to the Church and be brought up in the Church. So, I thought that it'd be a good idea for them to have a place where they can freely pray."
Hearing that comment from Kazuki caused both Asia's and Mariah's hearts to speed up a bit due to the seniority of his words. It was a way for them to find a place where they would be able to comfortably go and pray since both of them weren't in the Church anymore. Seeing Kazuki showing them this kind of kindness caused a brilliant smile to appear on Asia's face as she felt herself wrapping her arms around his waist.
"That sounds like an amazing idea, Kazuki-san! I think that it would be fun fixing up the Church together!"
Asia said smiling and feeling grateful for his idea about rebuilding the Church.
"I must say that does sound like a great idea," Mariah said, turning her face from him in an attempt to hide all the embarrassment that could be seen on her face. "I did hear from Iri-chan that she was sad to see how this Church turned out after all this time. And I can certainly see a lot of things that could be fixed and improved on."
"Don't you think that it's ironic for a fallen angel to assist in rebuilding a Church?"
Raynare asked, finding the idea for a former angel who was banished from Heaven to help rebuild a Church.
"That's what I don't get?"
Kazuki asked back as he stared at her.
"What?"
"How did you 'fall' in the first place?"
"H-Huh?"
Raynare looked surprised and almost flustered after hearing that question from him, causing Mariah to stare right at her with a curious look.
"You're nice, you have helped me a lot since the first time we met. I think that you haven't done that since you've been almost as innocent as anyone else. And…."
"S-Stop, stop stop stop, I get it," Raynare said flustered about the compliment and comment about that thing. "I-I fell for something embarrassing to mention to other people! S-So, I don't want to talk about it to anyone! I'll help, but please don't ask me that."
"A-Alright, I won't mention it again."
Kazuki said surprised about the mention of that alone was enough to cause her this much embarrassment, but it only made him more curious about it.
"I was wondering something too."
Mariah brought up turning her attention towards Kazuki, causing him to realize it whatever she wondering about had something to do with him.
"What's that?"
Kazuki asked curiously.
"What did you and Iri-chan do during or after your date?"
Mariah asked causing him to blush at that comment.
"Uh, why?"
"Well, I was curious about what you two did during and after your date. And Iri-chan shared what had happened during the date, but got all flustered after I asked about what happened afterward," Mariah said before noticing the same expression that Irina had given her on Kazuki's face. "Yea, kinda like that look you're giving me now."
"U-Uh, w-well, we kinda talked for a bit and…you know, kissed."
Kazuki replied turning his attention from her, not wanting to mention anything besides that.
Noticing that expression caused Mariah to smile as she leaned in closer and closer to him without letting the next couple of words becoming known to the others.
"I think that someone else happened. Possibly something that you don't want to mention to anyone."
"I think that we should get started on the first couple of things, while we still have sunlight," Kazuki started walking forward awkwardly as the three girls looked at him. "I already read up on what we need to do when it comes to restoring a building. So, let's get started."
"Something happened after that date."
Mariah thought as she smiled at him.
"Yea, those two did something."
Raynare even shared the same thought as Mariah.
Asia looked at their reactions, tilting her head to the side curiously, but she was glad that she was able to do a thing such as cleaning up this Church. It would be a good thing for this Church to be restored and it meant that she would have a place where she could pray. From there, the four began clearing all the various broken idols and benches from the inside of the building. It was the first start of what needed to be done to bring it back to its former glory.
Having finished that first start, the four went into town to get some food to eat, of course, Kazuki ended up being the one paying for the entire group. But, that wasn't something he minded at all, more so, since he learned from his parents that as a man, he should be the one responsible for that.
The weekend soon arrived as the new arrivals to Kuoh Academy starting acclimating more and more to their new surroundings. As planned, it was the time that the others such as Issei, Kazuki, Asia, Raynare, Kiryuu, Matsuda, and Motohama. All of them were also joined by Kiba, Koneko, and Mariah. Xenovia, who did want to come felt a little bad, but she promised to join at another point. There was also Saji who wanted to come too, but he was still being punished for going against Sona's orders.
The first thing that their group did was play several rounds of bowling for four hours at first, the ones scoring the most were those who received more training. Kiryuu, Motohama, and Matsuda were surprised about the amount of stamina Kazuki and the others had. But, the duo of the Perverted Trio looked a little too interested and focused on Mariah as she was taking her turn bowling.
It was at times silenced as Kiba, who noticed the entire thing gave them a glare neither of them would've thought would come from him. Kuoh Academy' Prince, who was more known for giving gentle smiles and comments were giving them glares that looked as if he would slice them up. An odd thought for the duo, who didn't know that he's a sword-wielding Knight.
[Let's grasp it~ Dragon ball~]
Issei was standing in front of the group of nine people watching as he sang one of the theme songs from Dragon Ball. His singing, of course, was subpar seeing as none of them were professionals at singing.
""Yo! Dragon ball idiot!""
Both his so-called friends, Motohama and Matsuda were booing him as Issei continued singing.
"Oi, idiots. I'd like to see you two singing a song together!"
Issei said interrupted from singing and glared at them.
Others like Kiba, Asia, and Mariah started laughing at the interaction between them as they continued to enjoy their small outing. Koneko, who wasn't going to be singing at all, was sitting down eating the pizza and ice cream that their group ordered. People like Kiba and Mariah were simply sitting down drinking the coffee they ordered elegantly one would expect from a prince and princess.
Outside their appearance, the two seemed to share the same tastes in coffee, making it more apparent that they were related. Kiryuu was preoccupied with finding a song for her to sing on the selection device in her hands, then the next person to sing was chosen. Issei passed the mic to Asia, who looked stunned and embarrassed about being chosen to sing in front of everyone.
"…uhhh."
Asia was groaning as she was holding the mic in her hands, her entire body was shaking at the idea of doing this in front of them all.
"S-Should, I s-start singing h-hymns."
Asia suggested as she was thinking about what to sing, but was stopped.
"No!"
"…no."
"I don't think so."
Issei shouted.
Koneko raised her voice a bit.
Three of them were devils, so hearing a hymn being sung in front of them would cause serious headaches, which could be worse than hearing simple accidental prayers.
Kiba politely declined, forming an X with his arms.
"T-Then, w-what am I supposed to sing?"
Asia asked cutely unable to find out what she was going to sing.
"I think there's a good song here somewhere."
Kazuki replied as he got the selection device from Aika, then started going through all the song selections, most of which came from different anime. After finding one, he pressed the button as the lyrics started being displayed on the screen close to her. Turning her head around, Asia started singing the song that Kazuki had picked out for her to sing nervously at first.
[N-Now r-raise your h-hands up higher~! S-Sing about your dreams~!]
Seeing that she was starting shakily at first, Asia started receiving words of encouragement from her friends in the gentlest manner possible.
"Come on, you can do it, Asia-chan!"
"Break out of that adorable shells of yours!"
"…you can do it."
"Do your best, Asia-san."
Kazuki, Mariah, Koneko, and Kiba all started cheering her on as Asia started feeling more confidence beginning to build up within her chest. It was then that she smiled and putting more effort and confidence into singing.
[Always stand up~! Raise your unbreakable flag~! We've made it past so many walls to get here~! Now let's head for the future~! Hands up~!]
Asia started smiling as she sang the song with more confidence without pausing as she held out her hands with a beautiful voice, which made the song sound better.
"Wait, is this from One Piece?!"
Issei asked as he glanced over towards his mother.
"Yea, it's the sixteenth opening, 'Hands Up!'. I thought that it would fit Asia-chan."
"What's with you and One Piece? The characters from Dragon Ball are stronger."
"Well, the characters from One Piece are more creative. And the opening themes are better."
Kazuki replied as he looked forward without taking the words coming from his brother as serious to him, causing him to send a serious glare at him. Seeing the interactions between them, caused Aika to glance over toward the second twins.
"This is so much fun. I never got the chance to come to karaoke bars like this."
"Well, I'll be sure that you'll be able to experience things like this."
Aika looked as Mariah and Kiba were acting like genuine siblings, Issei and Kazuki, on the other hand, looked as if the two were preparing for a battle.
"Just shut up and listen to Asia-chan!"
"Just admit that One Piece isn't better than Dragon Ball!"
"There's no chance that I'm ever going to admit that!"
Both Kazuki and Issei pressed their foreheads against each other, sparks starting flying between them.
"Huh, I guess there are different kinds of twins in the world."
Aika stated, shrugging her shoulders, and simply listened as Asia continued singing to the best of her abilities, which was more than anyone so far.
"I guess that Kazuki-kun and Ise-kun are just destined to be out each other's throats."
Raynare said as she ate the pizza from off the plate in front of her, smiling as to herself as she ate it.
"Well, I can see that someone is interested in a certain twin boy."
Aika said smiling deviously and perversely at Raynare who seemed flustered.
"And I can see someone having something in common with a perverted older twin."
Raynare countered back as Aika also seemed flustered about that.
"T-There's no way that perverted idiot would be a match for me!"
Aika replied without much actual strength behind her words, while Raynare returned the devious smile that she previously sent her.
The entire group continued enjoying the time spent singing various songs and switching from person to person. It could be seen that there was the chance that either Rias or Akeno, likely both was sending photos to Issei on his cellphone based on the fact he gained a nosebleed. After that, Issei left to clean the nosebleed and Kazuki left to use the bathroom too.
"Hah, Buchou, and Akeno-san are just too beautiful for words."
"You're mind is always in the gutter, Nii-san."
"You didn't see how their oppai looked in those swimsuits."
"Shouldn't you be more focused on other things?"
"If you don't focus on admiring the beauty of oppai, then you'll remain a virgin forever," Issei said before wrapping his arm around Kazuki's shoulder smirking. "Don't worry, if you follow my advice, then you won't remain a virgin."
"Right."
At that last part, Kazuki glanced to the side awkwardly unable to give another response aside from that.
He didn't have the heart to tell his older brother that he had Irina had sex, but that wasn't his business in the first place. And if he did end up mentioning that to Issei of all people, then it wouldn't result in anything good at all. It could lead to the silent treatment for a bit.
"But, is that a bad thing, though," Kazuki said thinking about the prospect of not hearing his older brother's comments for some time, but sighed. "I think that I'm too used to it at this point."
"Ah, Kazuki-kun, Ise-kun."
Both of them turned to see that Kiba was leaning against the wall beside the entrance leading right inside of the male's bathroom, where a big seat was. It looked as if he was waiting for them to leave the bathroom rather than entering himself.
"Oh. Did something happen?"
Issei asked, realizing the same thing as Kazuki.
"Yea, something did happen."
Kiba said as he was looking down at the ground smiling.
Noticing that Kiba wanted to talk about something, both Issei and Kazuki stood a seat on both sides of the Knight, sitting there in silence for some time.
"I have so much that I want to thank both of you for that I can't even count," Kiba started as he was looking at his opened hand. "Even though I tried pushing you all away, you two were the main people who still came after me no matter how dangerous it could get."
"Don't be weird. Normally, you help your friends, and besides, we're still members of the same peerage," a smirk formed on Issei's face as those words left his mouth. "And besides, your comrades from the past said they wanted you to live more than anything. Buchou, and the others also already forgave you for what happened too. So, it doesn't matter anymore. Just don't forget that no matter what happens, you're a Knight of the Gremory. As our group's sole Pawn, I won't forgive you for not performing your role."
"Ise-kun."
Kiba felt like smiling after hearing those words.
"Nii-san might be a pervert, but he can give some good advice from time to time," Kazuki said nonchalantly, but it caused Issei to glare at him lightly. "But, he's right. I planned on getting involved anyways since it endangered all the people living here, including our parents. Besides, if a friend is in trouble, then I'm going to help no matter if it does end up being dangerous. And you were able to reunite with your younger sister, so you have the chance to be an older brother to her again. So, try not to g off the deep end again."
"Kazuki-kun."
"Oi, don't call out our names with tears in your eyes. It's weird."
Issei said as he stared straight at Kiba wearing a deadpan look.
Neither of them thought about it much, but it was notable that the three of them were the closest to one another in comparison to others. Of course, Issei still had Matsuda and Motohama, but compared to them, there were a lot of things that he couldn't share with them.
"Well, let's go back and sing a song together that'll beat out everyone else."
"I don't think that's necessary, Nii-san. I don't think that anyone here can compete with the song that Asia-chan and Mariah sang. And I don't feel like singing a Dragon Ball song."
"It's not a Dragon Ball song this song! Just follow me lead here!"
"I think that the last time that I did that, it didn't turn out so well."
"Hahaha, I think that I should start looking more into what the two of you like."
As all three of them shared that moment, a certain glasses-wearing girl was watching them, while taking photos of the entire situation. Afterward, the three young men returned to their group and continued enjoying their outing. However, as soon as Issei, Kazuki, and Kiba entered school, there was a rumor stirred up at school about the three of them being in a relationship. And it didn't take them long to realize that Aika was behind the entire thing.
A/N: And there goes the next chapter of The Twin Dragons, well, this chapter showed more about what's happening following the Kokabiel Incident and being the start of the next volume. It looks as if Kazuki is heading a restoration of the old Church in town for the benefit of Asia and Mariah who aren't able to go back to the Church.
