Roommate

Minutes earlier, ? POV

SNAP! I deigned to turn around, only to see the demon behind me, a mountain of green; the creature rampages through the forest with speed unbecoming something of its size, its onyx pupils focused only on me, with thoughts filled solely with malicious intent. Leaping over a log, I risk another look, only for the large lump of wood to simply shatter before the monster's might.

Almost in a snarl, it revealed its maw of dagger-like fangs, even while I ran, my focus was split between ensuring my escape and watching my pursuer's snarling visage, as its jaws slowly and methodically begin to pry open. Not even five seconds pass before my brows shot up in surprise and I redoubled my evasive actions. "Tyrani….TARRR" The monster bellowed, sending a blinding flash of light which erupted at my paws, resulting in an explosion which took me off the ground, sending me through one, two, three trees, ending with a rough impact on the fourth, displacing any air left in my pain filled body. My left shoulder jutted out at an awkward angle, coupled with the sharp lance of pain piercing my right leg, I knew my fate was sealed.

My knowledge of the outcome did NOT mean I was going to accept it. As the beast approaches me in steady, even steps, an almost jovial look on its scaly muzzle. Rapidly, my mind formulated a multitude of plans, only for them to be subsequently discarded.

Silent was the night after the roar of the Tyranitar's hyper beam and in the world of quiet did I hear it. My ear snapped to the sound, water, the sound of a waterfall could be heard from my left and I was supplied with a plan, it was risqué but when compared to the certain doom of staying, the slim chance of escape it provided was easily taken.

A surge of energy to my paw and a flash of light were the only warnings the beast received as I launched my attack, not looking long enough to see it collide with its head or witness it shrug it off as if it were nothing, because it wasn't meant to hurt, it was meant to distract. With the copious amounts of adrenalin in my system numbing the pain, I leapt off the tree, snapping the branch with the sheer force applied to it and barreled over the edge of the waterfall. The sliver of hope growing ever so slightly at the large lake below, a sigh escaped my muzzle as I fell into the void.

Back to present, Jackson POV

Imbedding my spear into the packed dirt of my campsite, I made a mad dash to the lake, dodging and weaving the various tree roots and rocks that litter the pathway as if it was day, and with my enhanced vision, it basically was. Sure, everything was darker, but I could still make out the shape and even some details of objects up to about thirty feet ahead of me, but any further and things begin to get blurry.

'Another person, this can be good if they're from my world, dimension, universe whatever' I leaped over a patch of shrubbery, grabbing onto an overhanging branch to swing across the gap, landing in a low roll 'they might have some more information on what exactly is going on and if it's someone from here, I need to be cautious… we might not speak the same language, but if I play my cards right, I may be able to get some information out of them' I ended up vaulting a rather large bolder that obstructed the path, landing with a slight tumble, not noticing the uneven ground 'and in both scenarios, I end up with someone to talk too, I'm one for solitude and quiet but even I'll go insane if I'm alone for too long' ….SPLASH!….. 'That's if they survived that fall' I cynically thought to myself, increasing my pace.

Skidding to a stop at the water's edge, I gazed into the abyss, the silhouette descending into the inky void. I grit my teeth, small trickles of blood running down my maw, curtesy of my fangs, before jumping into the water; not bothering to remove my boots or cargoes. As I dived into the endless sea of black, my sole focus being the rapidly descending silhouette, reaching forth I made to grab its hand, missing by an inch. With a surge of force I made another attempt grabbing the appendage, flipping and reversing my course to the surface. Breaching with a sharp intake of breath, I began making my way to shore, careful to keep my charge's head above the water.

Crawling onto the rocky shore, I stood on my hands and knees, taking greedy breaths. Looking to my side, I practically heard my mind shatter, laying before me on the loose stones that litter the lakeside, was a unearthly creature; two large tufted ears protruded from the top of its head, coupled with the short muzzle exposing the creature's canine heritage, its coat a beautiful shade of royal blue with accents of black over its body, making a mask over its eyes while completely covering its legs and paws, the only exception to this is the dirty blonde fur covering its center, giving it the impression of wearing a vest, speaking of cosmetics, the creature had three distinct spikes that seem to glisten in the moon light, those being located just above the wrist on either forelimb and one protruding from its chest, with its base partially covered with the sheer volume of chest fluff which seems to hold mass despite being soaked.

A sight so alien, yet I instantly knew what the creature was "A-a L-Lucario?" the words seem to break me from my stupor, as my once shattered mind began placing all the pieces together 'That fucking bird and the mutated carp, those were Pokémon and the weird ass fruits, those were berries… that hallucination …. Was that Gerit-' a low gurgle brought me out of my thoughts as I looked over to the unconscious Lucario, the unconscious Lucario that was underwater for a solid three minutes "SHIT! Come on stay with me here!" I yelled before lacing my fingers and placing them just above where I think its diaphragm is, before I began compressions. After a minute it was clear just compressions would not cut it as I placed my left hand over its cold nose and planted my lips on its and breathed out with as much force as I could muster, determined to displace the water within its lungs. This was repeated for fifteen exhausting minutes before the Lucario's eyes shot open and attempted to turn over. Falling on my ass, arms trembling at my side from the abuse placed upon them, I watched as the creature before me hacked up easily two liters worth of water before promptly falling back to the earth, the steady rise and fall of its chest being the only indication of its current state.

I carefully regarded the unconscious creature before me, noticing a myriad of cuts and bruises lining its form, grimacing slightly at the seemingly dislocated shoulder. With a heavy sigh, I return to my feet, lumbering over to the slumbering jackal before slipping one hand under its legs and the other was wrapped around its back "come on big guy, I can't exactly leave you out here" I whispered soothingly as I slowly made my way back to camp, as to not aggravate any of 'his' injuries.

Back at camp, I rested the Jackal Pokémon on my makeshift bed and took a few steps back. With only the flickering amber light of the campfire to illuminate the small cave, I took a moment to properly observe the Pokémon, he was muscular but not obscenely so, almost elegant in a way, yet well-toned, if the developed abdominals imprinted in his fur were anything to go by. Then there was his forelimb, I grimaced slightly, positioning myself over his side, I placed one hand on his shoulder and the other on the offending limb, then with sickening crack, I slipped the bone into its socket.

My next course of action would have been to bandage the various gashes and cuts on the jackal's body, but I have no potions, I don't even have standard medical supplies. Then a thought struck me, rushing over to my cloak, I retrieved three of the blue berries 'if I remember correctly, these should have healing properties and seeing as he's unconscious he'd die from blood loss before he can eat them….. Well, hope this works' grabbing my spear, shirt and half a coconut shell, I headed to the lake.

As I knelt down at the lakeshore, scooping some water into the shell before placing the berries into it, crushing them into a fine paste with the use of a smooth stone. I then proceeded to slice bits of the shirt to create makeshift bandages, rinsing them in the lake 'I would prefer to boil them before use, but I can't exactly get water to boil without a pot'.

I knelt next the sleeping jackal and began the process of applying ointment and bandaging his various injuries. It was after bandaging a particularly large gash on his inner thigh, I made a harrowing discovery …. His tool is missing, the key item is not in its proper place, his jewels have been stolen as it were, my mental meltdown was stopped with a simple thought 'Riiiiiight most Pokémon don't wear clothes, do they… so everything must be internal for Lucarioes so as to not give everyone a show' I foolishly attempted to rationalize, quickly moving on, I made my way to his core, passing my fingers thoroughly through the impossibly soft fur and toned yet supple muscle in an attempt to find any injuries that might be hidden beneath. As I made my way to the spike at his chest, fingers approaching the mound of fluff, a moment passed and I froze, all colour draining from my visage at a rapid pace, leaving my once tanned face paler than the full moon above. When I processed the sensation in my hands, instead of the coiled yet soft muscle that covered the rest of the creature's form, my hands now grasped something different, it was soft, impossibly so yet the supple flesh had a sense of form, moving back into place with l slight jiggle as I relaxed my grip "rio" my hand immediately shot up, eyes snapping to the jackal's, only to see he-HER fast asleep 'Oh thank God she's out, because if she wasn't, I would be SO DEAD!' shaking my head, I stopped myself before I can fall back into that rabbit hole and refocused my attention to the task at hand.

As I finished bandaging her injuries, I made my way to the now pile of embers, I began feeding the ebbing flame broken branches, as I breathe new life into the dying light, sitting on a nearby log, embracing the heat it provided on my wet, cold form, simply staring at the heavens, finally allowing my mind to wander 'Ok I think I know what happened …. I... died and somehow ended-up here, but I'm a kid again and my body's different, I'm stronger and probably faster, I have better vision and hearing, even sharper instincts' a low snarl escaped as my thoughts continued 'Its like someone took my body, adjusted the settings and dumped me here and speaking of here, I don't even know where here is! Am I in a different world that just has beings that resemble Pokémon or am I actually in their world? If so, is it the anime or the games, some combination of the both? HECK-WHICH REGION AM I IN?!' I simply sat, my mind throwing questions at me that I can't even begin to answer…..I didn't get much sleep that night.

Around six am, Lucario's POV

"Luuccarrioo" I groaned as I was rudely awakened by a stray ray of light, which snuck past the canopy only to GO INTO MY PUTAINS YEUX! I began to move my aching body which only served to increase my discomfort, as the memories of the previous night came rushing back. With a start, I jolted up into a seated position, crimson eyes wide and at attention. Calming down slightly, I noticed I was laid atop a bed in a small cave, a roaring fire sits a few meters outside its entrance with four fish roasting in its heat. 'Something must have found me' my musings were short as I closed my eyes, intent on focusing in on my surroundings, until… A bright spark makes itself known in the sea of darkness, from that one spark, spawns countless more, the trees, the earth and the various types of Pokémon that roam the land, all possessing these sparks of varying intensity, ranging from crackling embers to a roaring bonfire. As I was looking for the creature that might have assisted me, a wisp of purple flickered into view, I stopped my search and focused on the foreign light.

The light moved closer to the campsite, its pale, lavender visage bellowed and flicked with life, sometimes leaping into an inferno before simmering down to a steady burn, with streaks of black ebbing off the ghostly flame, like soot. I snapped my eyes open, determined to meet the owner of the ghastly aura.

Stopping at the mouth of the cave is a dark bipedal silhouette, the bright morning rays causing a contrast in light which hides the creature's features in a vail of shadow, its only visible features of note being its glowing, violet eyes and spear strapped to its back.

The creature casually walked into the cave, judging by the pace of its stride and where its vision is focused, that being past the berries that lay in a handwoven basket and at the ground near its feet, it hadn't noticed my awakened state. Then within a moment, its head snaps to mine and its aura surges. I brace for the impending attack, raising my right paw to minimize the damage, only for no attack to come. Looking back at the strange creature, I began to notice the details of its previously obstructed form, he appeared to be a male human, he seems to be around eight centimeters taller than myself and sports a fairly muscular build, He possesses long, slick, black hair ending at his shoulders, the ends of which seem to have yet to dry, the human's mouth was set in a warm smile, no teeth showing except for a singular canine which clings to his lower lip, moving further down, his chest is bare, further validating my previous assumptions, he wears a pair of dark blue pants stuffed in some black laced boots.

"So, you're awake," the human spoke in a rather deep but caring tone of voice. He made to come closer, but a low growl stopped him in his tracks 'He might have pulled me out the lake but he's still a human, they're naturally untrustworthy, not to mention his aura, its… alien, completely foreign to anything I've ever seen, it feels unnatural and then there's his eyes, those bright, violet eyes that seem to bore a hole through me, they make instincts flair in an all too familiar way. Fear. His body grows in size, doubling then tripling before a lunge, rows of deadly razers entrapped within his maw snap around my throat.

Then, with a start, I was back, staring at empty space. Looking to my side knelt the human, his hand on my right shoulder, he spoke before I can shrug him off "Hey, you okay? you were pretty banged up after the fall and I tried my best but I'm no professional so I might have missed some injuries" he spoke in a calming, even tone while his aura showed nothing but a jumbled mess of flairs and dips as if speaking in a completely different language. Looking down, I finally seemed to have noticed the myriad of grey cloth strips wrapped around various parts of my body.

At that illustrious and inopportune moment, my body decided to make its hunger known via a loud rumble, in a flash my face began to heat, the sensation traveling to the tips of my ears. I quickly turned away from the human in an attempt to save face, my embarrassment only grew as a chuckle slipped past his lips "yea makes sense you're hungry, you did lose a lot of blood" he mumbled as he moved over to the crackling flame, returning with four roasted fish, balanced on two Nanab berry leaves. The purple eyed human placed one of the makeshift plates of fish before me and gestured to the basket of berries he was carrying earlier "Don't worry about the food, this forest has a unreasonable amount of resources" I simply leveled him with an incredulous stare 'I'm not eating this, you could have drugged it' in response, he simply returned my flat look "Do you honestly think I went through the trouble of dragging your furry ass out of that lake and take care of your injuries, just to poison you….Not to mention you're a steel type you can't GET POISONED" as he makes his final point I simply turn my head to him…..because he's completely right, but I can't let HIM know that, I'll lose my integrity as a female! My 'caretaker' simply rolled his eyes then promptly switched our meals. As we ate, well, we meaning me, the human finished the fish and he mostly stared at me as I ate, not in a malicious way, but something more akin to interested or amused, me still being unable to make ANY sense of his aura, I must make do with simply reading his facial features and guessing. All my speculations were readily and promptly forgotten as I discovered he had tomato berries, I quickly moved my left paw to snatch up the red fruit, only to recoil slightly as the joint protested the movement. Most Lucario don't like the spicy fruit, added onto the fact they rarely grow in this part of the forest and they're a pretty rare sight, not to mention I prefer the bitter spice over the all-encompassing sweet or sour the other berries provide, especially when paired with some meat. That being said, I quickly switched to my right and began to partake in the humans offered provisions.

The violet eyed male's lips quirked down ever so slightly, to the point of if it weren't to me specifically looking for a change, I wouldn't have noticed it. Before rising to his feet and exiting the cave, his departure was quickly followed by the distinct sound of cloth tearing. Making his return a few moments later, the human approached as I finished my fill of the assortment of food. "Would you let me make a sling for your arm, I slipped it back into the socket but it would be sore for a while still and the sling would help until it's fully healed" He said gesturing to my left forelimb and then to a long piece of thick black cloth, his aura pulsed in steady even bursts which I chose to classify as concerned if his softened and slightly downcast expression was anything to go by.

Reluctantly, I nodded my head, indicating my approval to the human. A few moments later and my limb was slung to my side in a hammock of cloth, after which he began checking my bandages. I was tempted to shrug him off and care to the wounds myself 'No need to be further indebted to a human, I've already shown more than enough weakness as is' but a unexpectedly firm grip settling on my thigh and the stabbing protest dissuaded that course of action. Finally he takes a step back wiping the sweat off his brow "*sigh* Really you're a little juggernaut aren't you…. Those would have taken a human a couple months to fully recover from everything, but at the rate you're going, you'll be fine in a week, maybe a week and a half". My chest puffed slightly at the compliment before the rest of his words began to register 'wait A WEEK. No- I can't stay away for that long, I NEED to make it back, if not for anything else than to report the Tyranitar encroaching in our territory.' Before I can voice my protest the world blurred and gravity took over, the last thing I could recall is being held and gently lowered back onto the improvised bed and a low chuckle. "Seems like you finally used up that burst of energy, rest up, you'll need it".
