"So what do you think Pikachu, pretty impressive right?" Ash asks as they wander through the Academy.
"Pika Pika!"
Ash had thought the Pokémon school in Alola was impressive but this made Alola's school look like a raggedy shack by contrast.
Coming through its main hallway Ash stepped back out into the harsh sunlight.
This is definitely the part that would take the most adjustment the dry heat of Paldea felt like it was baking him where he stood.
"Dam the Alola weather has been treating me too well"
"Pika Pi" Pikachu sighed alongside him also uncomfortable from the heat.
Perhaps because the heat was getting to his head he failed to notice the Pokémon in the grass.
"Sprig" a small cat Pokémon rubbed against Ash's leg.
"Oh hello there" Ash smiled "You must be a Sprigatito" Ash pulled out the Pokedex to read up on the Paldean starter.
"Sprigatito the grass cat Pokémon, The sweet scent its body gives off mesmerizes those around it. The scent grows stronger when this Pokémon is in the sun"
The sunny weather did seem to have an effect on Sprigatito since Ash could smell a pleasant, flowery scent in the air.
"Don't you have an owner or something?"
"Spriga" Sprigatito troughed around him trying to avoid the question.
Ash could tell the Sprigatito did in fact have an owner. But since said owner wasn't around the best he could do was keep an eye on it until he could find them.
Ash and Pikachu kept walking with Sprigatito trotting behind them.
"Why don't we get something to eat Pikachu?"
"Pika!"
"All right I'll be right back. Pikachu you keep an eye on Sprigatito"
Ash quickly jogged off to get something from the cafeteria.
But when he got back there was no Sprigatito, just a very flustered Pikachu.
"Pikachu what happened!"
Pikachu gestured that Sprigatito had somehow vanished well he was looking.
Suddenly the flowery scent he had smelt before was invading his nose again.
He turned around and Sprigatito was sitting on the table, a piece of meat from the sandwich dangling in her mouth.
"What the! How did you get behind us? Pikachu was watching the whole time"
"Sprig" Sprigatito meowed innocently chewing on the salami.
"Ask Ketchum is that really you!" from the door Ash had come through, a streak of black and green sprinted across the courtyard towards Ash.
"I'm Nemona nice to meet you!"
"Oh nice to me you"
Ash was used to getting recognized in public, but it was the girl's enthusiasm that surprised Ash.
"I'm head of the student council Klavell sent me to come get you, you have no idea how exciting it is to see the best battler in the world in the flesh"
Nemona looked at Sprigatito with a disapproving look.
"Oh, so that's where you ran off to?"
"You know Sprigatito?"
"Oh yes we had an odd number of students this year and this was the odd one out. This is the 3rd time today she's run off"
Sprigatito walked over with a downtrodden expression and stood beside Nemona.
"Well I'll talk to you later I've got to this little trouble home but Clavell said he wants to see you later"
Nemona ran off with Sprigatito leaving Ash and Pikachu to enjoy their food in peace.

"Hello I'm here to see Clavell" Ash knocked on the door.
"Come in"
Clavell was sitting at his desk with a single Pokeball on it.
"Hello you wanted to see me"
"Yes I just wanted to discuss some things about you're stay here"
"First off I'd like to thank you again for choosing our institution it is an incredible honor"
"Oh of course it's no problem"
"I'm sure you know what you're stay here entails"
"Yup teaching the students about Pokémon Battles being a responsible role model and setting a good example"
"Yes all that but there was something else I wanted to discuss with you and that's Team Star"
"Team Star? You have an evil team here in the Paldea Region"
"No not evil there" Clavell paused for a moment "Their students that have been acting rebellious. Cutting class, disrupting campus life, vandalism, and probably things that I don't know about"
Ash sighed with relief. With his long history of getting involved with evil teams with goals of world domination, a group of rebellious kids wasn't all that scary.
"We've tried disciplinary measures but they've been totally ineffective" Clavell sighed "If anything it seems to have made them more determined"
"So do you want me to do something about it?"
"No, I don't want to use force on them but the only option I have is expulsion and that's the last thing I want so I was wondering if you could talk to them"
"You want me?"
"Yes you're much closer in age to them and I think you'd be much better at dissecting their minds"
To be honest, Ash wouldn't say he was great at the mental aspects of people his skills were in battling and Pokémon not psychology.
But if this was what Clavell wanted he might as well give it a go.
"You got it Clavell I'll try my best"
"Thank you. Now there's one more thing I want to give you" Clavell grabbed the Pokeball sitting on his desk.
Out popped Sprigatito who curled herself around Ash's feet.
"Nemona told me you had a run-in with Sprigatito earlier today. Since we haven't found her a trainer yet I thought I'd offer her to you"
"Me?" Sprigatitos ears pricked up at the idea.
"If you want to no worries if you don't"
"Oh no worries I'd love to take Sprigatito as my first Pokémon and I think Sprigatito likes the idea too"
"Sprigatito!" Sprigatito purred in approval.
"Well it's settled then" Clavell returned Sprigatito to its Pokeball and gave it to Ash.
