Comment Corner:

Genocide54: Aaaand I'm gone again lmao.

Gamermisogi: And another one three months after lmao. I'm implying that it might not be their first one, but most certainly it's the first time I'm writing it. Gods it was actually hard to make Mei lose considering the cards that she has and the engine that Machina's can do. True for Ruri too, even if I'm limiting her pool of cards to only Arc-V cards, Lyriluscs can still OTK very easily in a 4k LP format. Maaaybe not all of those guys, but I did imply some of them : ) Welp, here's the lore dump chapter lmao.

UrAniki: Well you know, when the Lyrilusc player just draws their OTK tool.

XelaZagity: Kek doubt. Well, well, well, you've caught me. It took three whole months to write because I need to learn the intricacies of the Reptiles! Lmao jk. The Gate Guardian stuff is neat, but as expected it is a deck of bricks. My current deck with a lot of soft garnets are Galaxy, since they came to MD recently and I'm playing them instead of purely.

Rovdek97: Thanks for reading! Here's the next one!

yann0406: Welp, here's the next one.

Nitesabes: I'll include them… eventually. Certainly doesn't help that Yuya and Yuzu is a whole dimension away, barring of course Yuto and Ruri who are their dimensional counterpart, but they don't get much screentime in comparison so… yeah. And to be fair, as I've stated before, Yuuna has not watched Arc-V. But she'll still have that kind of effect when she meets the main protagonist don't worry.

Pjo crossovers: Kek ye. Still not really sure how I'm going to make the Obelisk Force stronger honestly, so I'm open for suggestions other than them just, you know, running random floodgates. And man, writing those would be annoying. Also true, so I'm really just planning on her selling generic cards that aren't Numbers, god knows there's a lot of those.

Misaka Phenex: Well, here's a longer one. It's the thing that someone came up with so… I take no credit for that.

Akira Himura: Very funny, both the dance and the image of Kaiju-ing Z-Arc. Here's the lore dump chapter, lots of lore, much wow. Still far from them meeting though lmao.

A Synchron Fan: Will have to work more on that front I guess, a lot of background stuff that's for sure. Lmao very true. It's actually pretty fun writing them, so I wrote some more here. Yeah, I'm really just building with every Level 1 extender that was released at the time, Jester Confit included, and even thought about normal summoning Sonic Chick because its a Level 1 Winged Beast lmao. Buuut, Assembled Nightingale is just really good in a 4k LP format, so it basically carries. Thanks~! It's very late but here's the next chapter~!

Anon: Oh no that's the FTK combo, we're not touching that anytime soon. And story progression! Actual lore time.

Kingobots: It was a bit hard writing Mei to lose since the modern Machina cards are great in a low powered format, but Assembled Nightingale did the trick. Kek was mostly thinking about Ancient Gear Hunting Hound for the most part, but that also works. Welp though luck we're not seeing her duel again lmao, definitely cuz I'm still not sure what 'rogue' deck I'm going to make her play, no sir. Bunch of background stuff happening in the Fusion Dimension. Again, only limiting the 'normal people' card pool to actual cards for the Arc-V era, Celeste Wagtail and Beryl Canary was released far after that soo… Well my friend, you've just given me an idea for a whole chapter lmao. M good, but was on the holiday and a bunch of IRL stuff came in and burnout and all that, that and I'm planning a lot more stuff in between this and the actual WDC. Ah that was an event of all time, I just played LabSpright lmao.

King Atem: Oh yea, that's a definite. She probably won't lmao.

Rukia Inowe: o7

demonic hellfire: I mean, I'll probably just not give her the Tyrant Neptune. Not that I'm not entertaining the thought of giving her Independent Nightingale, she'll get it for sure, just not the FTK variant of the deck. Also yes, background Fusion Dimension stuff.

Shadow Guest: Oh yeah that would be annoying to write. Very slow chapter, but glad that you enjoyed it! Here's the next one.

Sagiri678: o7

HereICome: Can't think of the other series much but I very much like the final Yusaku vs AI duel. Definitely not because AI's voiced by Sakurai Takahiro.

Peridoto980: yes.

Shinichi Phoenix: Like Vrains. No like ZEXAL, much, still enjoyed it.

Tank Rusher: Well yeah, of ocurse I do.

Sally Arcorn: Man that's a lot of stuff.

Guest01: o7

SonicxAmy777: Thanks! Here's the next one.

Uncle Right: Thanks for reading!

Peter Kim: Well, not all of it, but enough stuff for now.

blackberry1773: I mean, I guess it would be funny for an Omake or something. So a big maybe if I have the time.

Guest: I mean, it's not the Branded that we all know now since it was only the early cards without the Despia cards but I did write her using it so… yeah. Maybe. But will definitely have her play Tear just a bit eventually.

Pyro777: Ah yes, the typical long Pyro reply. Thanks! Had fun writing it other than the uh, burnout that happened after I finished it. Typical 'Final Boss who only does evil for the greater good' vibe then, great. Just make them not afraid of her I guess, or making them believe that they can beat her. Well, that again, but this time with some of the better cards! Well a lot and nothing at all, it'll affect some characters that's actually plot relevant, but otherwise its a background thing that I'll probably just explain more in Omakes or side story things. Did have fun writing that : ) Typical yugioh protagonist not even winded after what was more or less a tournament run. But yeah, that's an important part for the XYZ Dimension, they use solid vision yes, but on the lowest possible setting, nothing close to the level of Standard, let alone Fusion. The place is peaceful like that, that's why this whole Numbers thing being actually dangerous is a shock, let alone the invasion. A good lot of things, but not all of them. Well, you can just read the chapter and find out : ) Thanks for all the insight as usual! Here's the next one~!

Evo-Force

When she opened her eyes, the sight that she saw was one that was familiar, a sight that she had not seen for quite some time.

She looked up towards a plain wooden door, one that closed the room that was sparsely decorated, only being filled with the barest necessities of a cupboard filled with clothes, a handful of hangers for clothes, and wooden bed frames and their respective mattresses.

She knew this place. How could she not? She lived on this exact bed in this exact room for years ever since she was reborn into this universe that runs around card games. She could remember the room top to bottom even having gone away for weeks.

It was the orphanage of the Fusion Dimension, or more correctly the Academy island orphanage. It was her home that was a whole dimension away. A home that she was separated from due to that man's actions.

The wooden door creaks as it slowly opens, and her view trailed towards the blonde nun that emerged. "Yuuna? You said there was something that you wanted to talk about?" The figure of Sister Claire said, her voice nostalgic and distant.

Her body wouldn't move, she figured that in a split second, as if it would then she would be flying to the other side of the room to give her caretaker, her mother in all but blood a crushing hug, and yet all that 'she' did was open her mouth, yet made no noise as 'she' does.

It was clear to her, at that very moment, that this was not reality (no matter how much she wanted it to be). But merely a memory, a fragment of her life that was replaying itself in her mind.

Sister Claire, or a figment of her memory of her, raised an eyebrow before she nodded in understanding. "Oh, you're waiting for Mei then. I'm sure that she'll be back quite soon." And sure enough the blonde haired nun inched closer to the room as the purple haired girl then barged in.

"Yuuna! I'm here!" The purple haired girl declared with a bright smile, and immediately passed Sister Claire as she leapt into her arms, yet she felt nothing as the purple jacket wearing girl then crashed onto her, the smaller girl snuggling close.

A twinge of pain ached in her heart, the memory that was replaying in front of her was certainly one that was certainly memorable, something that she should remember. It was an important moment of this new life of her's, a moment where she revealed her secret towards her family.

And yet…

"Fufu, I guess you are." She had said at the time, and her body had patted the smaller girl's head, she could even feel a small smile growing on her face, a sense of happiness bubbling inside her chest.

And yet…

"I guess it's time then." She murmured as she closed her eyes, raising her head and opening them as her eyes met Sister Claire's. "There's something that I need to tell you two." She said, glancing down at Mei as well. "Something important."

And yet… she forgot about it. A memory of how she revealed her secrets, her System, a gift from God of all things, though she omitted that last part considering how blasphemous that is to say to a nun of all things… but it was still a deep secret that she was willing to share to them, her family.

So how exactly did she forget about it?

She opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling of her apartment, her entire body feeling sore as she stood up and stumbled, a feeling of disorientation coursing through her body. She lightly rubbed her eyes as her blurry vision slowly subsided.

As soon as her vision returned to normal, she checked her surroundings, and immediately noticed the sleeping forms of her friends. Allen snored loudly as he was sprawled on the floor, somehow having gotten out from the now dishevelled futon, Sayaka and Myu still sleeping peacefully in the bed.

And she turned her head slightly to see Anna slumped and snoring lightly slumped on the small desk that she had, one of her spare red jackets finding use as it had been draped over the cherry haired girl to keep her from getting cold.

A moment passed, then another, and she closed her eyes as she took a deep breath and exhaled as quietly as she could to not wake any of them up.

She was here, in the apartment that she managed to scrape and rent thanks to the landlord's kindness and by spending a good chunk of DP that she's had.

She was in the XYZ Dimension, with the friends that she's made here, away from her family and her home.

… she needed to clear her head. Maybe a glass of water would do.

As silently as she could, she started to walk towards the sink, taking an empty glass and silently thanking that the modern commodities that this city had. Though it only made sense that a futuristic city like Heartland where flying bikes exists that they'd have freely accessible clear water.

She remembered from back Before that that wasn't the case for some places, and the less well treated area of Academy Island also-

Her mind focused on the sound of water slowly filling the glass, thoughts empty as she refused to think back towards that place, towards her home, and instead chose to… live in the moment.

… she chooses to marvel at the sheer difference that this dimension had to her world from Before as she turned the faucet off, slowly taking sips of water. Disregarding the blatantly futuristic technology that was Solid Vision, the other modern inventions that this world had was as amazing, though that as expected considering she was in Heartland City of all places.

It was a point for the 'story' to usually take place in the most advanced place of the world, and she could attest that Heartland City fits the bill.

She looked out of the window, seeing the sun still barely peeking over the horizon, at least she thought so as the outside wasn't as bright as early mornings would be considering her view was taken by tall brightly coloured buildings. The giant wall looming over the horizon, standing even taller than those buildings.

She… didn't really know why that thing exists, nor did she really bother noticing it when she first came here, what with her mind being focused on… other important things, but that thing does ring alarm bells on her head.

The separation between Heartland City proper and the outside was a strange thing, though it at least wasn't as bad as she remembered the separation between Domino City and Satellite was in 5Ds, and she didn't quite remember if there was even anything notable that the giant wall caused, though the fact that it even existed is a testament of their ingenuity.

Then again the same could essentially be said for all of the worlds in this set of stories isn't it? She didn't watch Arc-V nor the series that came after it, Vrains or something like that, but she was sure that both took place in places or cities that are advanced, far beyond what was real from the world Before. The last one has some themes about A.I. or something if she remembered correctly.

"But that doesn't matter now, does it." She muttered, placing the now empty glass back onto the sink.

Reminiscing on those 'stories' won't matter. There isn't any merit in doing so. She should've been using this time to try and farm DP in her Duel Space. That's what she's been doing the entire night, she should-

"I need some fresh air." She decided, silencing her wandering thoughts as the room was filled by the sound of droplets of water slowly dripping from the now turned off faucet, and silently slipped away from her apartment room and closing the door behind her.

The hallway was silent, the other residents still sleeping most likely, and was thus filled with the sound of her boot lightly meeting the floor, again and again.

She focused on the noise, she tried, but even so her mind wandered as she took on the now regular sights around her.

She saw the many doors of the apartment building, her neighbours that she's never bothered to acquaint with, not when she had better, more important, things to do, and saw the small yet simple lock that they had.

And she started thinking of simply how amazing the duel disk was. They certainly were multi-purposed weren't they? The landlord just had to basically show her this dimension's equivalent of a QR code and then suddenly her own duel disk now acted as a key to her room, though she did still give her a physical key, something that she had lent to Anna during the time when she was sick.

There's of course the fact that they both acted as a phone and a wallet, something that she also remembered being possible in the world Before with the march of modernization and appearance of electrical money and all that.

The most outstanding part would of course be the miniature holographic projectors that they house, one could even say that that's even the most important feature that they have. It was what allowed them to manifest both the duel blade and the projections for the fields when a duel occurs.

That a small hand held machine that's a size larger than the average phone from the world Before was capable of creating something that was only thought possible in sci-fi stories and, well, anime, was certainly mind boggling. Even now, years later, she still couldn't truly comprehend the possibility that this small device had.

The same device that would bring untold amounts of pain and suffering thanks to that man and his plans. He's already used the technology to create tools to brainwash people and-

A small sound snapped her out of her thoughts, and from the corner of her eyes she saw an egg-shaped figure round from the corner.

The wheeled robot moved towards her direction slowly, and she shuffled away as she let it move past her, cleaning the path that she had walked from and picking any trash that it found on it's way.

"Right, those things exist don't they." She'd only seen some of them, but she had seen robots, actually mechanical egg-shaped robots of all things, roaming around to clean the streets and what not.

Wasn't there a character who was a robot in the setting for ZEXAL? Though that bit of information might not matter considering that this world was different-

No, looking back on that won't matter. She's already piled as much information as she could all while she was grinding in her Duel Space. There wasn't any use in wallowing in the past, not when there's still so much to do.

The past can't be changed, and though she knows what would happen, what should happen, she can change it. Maybe not completely, she doubt that she could completely stopped the invasion from happening from the start, she was at fault for not doing her best when she was at the Fusion Dimension, her fault when she was too immersed in being a child again, her fault when she didn't notice what that man was doing to Serena, her fault for not being strong enough to stop him, for not being fast enough to-

But she can still change it. She can give it her all to save as many people as possible, to stop that man's plan, whatever it is, from completion. For the sake of others and for her own selfish revenge.

"One step at a time." She muttered as she reached the apartment's front door, giving a slight nod to the robot that was acting as a security guard as she raised her head and looked forwards.

"One step at a time."

"I know that this is a bit.. Strange honestly, to ask a nun of all things but… do you believe in spirits?" That was how she started the talk, asking a strange question right off of he bat and meeting a strange gaze from both Sister Claire and Mei.

Aah this is making her feel very self conscious now, it's… embarrassing. She hasn't felt something like this in a long time now, she's pretty sure the last time she felt something like this was at the start of her reincarnation when she had no control of her body… Truly, a dark part of being fully reborn and reincarnated with your mind 'intact'.

Though she couldn't muse on that thought for long as Sister Claire spoke, a thoughtful look on her face as she frowned slightly with a hand under her chest while the other positioned perpendicularly to place her chin on the back of her hand. "Spirits?" She asked.

"Spirits." She nodded, confirming her question as she sat on the foot of her bed with Mei beside her, the smaller purple haired girl tilting her head in confusion, not understanding it for some reason.

The blonde nun frowned as she narrowed her eyes. "Do you mean something like evil spirits? Fiends and demons and the like?"

"Well that's… not exactly wrong but not right at the same time." She answered back with a shake of her head. Well Fiends were a Type and all, so they technically do count don't they? Even if she's sure that Sister Claire's definition of Fiends are totally different than the one that she was talking of.

And the term evil spirits isn't wrong either considering that some of them are actually malevolent. At least

"Umm, is it… g-ghost then?" Said the girl beside her, inching slightly closer as she pinched the hem of her shirt, a hint of fear apparent on her face.

She gave Mei a smile as she patted her head. "No, no, it's nothing like that." She said with a small shake of her head, trying to assure her that this was not the case. "It's… well, as I said, it's hard to explain, but please bear with me alright."

She ceased fidgeting as she closed her eyes, taking another deep breath and began talking. "The kind of spirit that I'm speaking about is… card spirits, of sorts." She said curtly, attempting to talk about the topic.

"Card… spirits?" Sister Claire said, a look of utter confusion on her face, clearly having not expected for her to talk about this kind of topic off all things. The same could be said for Mei as the purple haired girl tilted her head in confusion once more next to her.

"It does sound like quite the topic doesn't it?" She said with a giggle, thinking to herself of the sheer absurdity of the topic of card spirits in a world that was basically ruled by card games… though whether that made it sound more or less believable, she didn't know.

"Yes. That certainly does sound like a topic to talk about." The blonde nun said with a sigh, walking to the room's shared desk and pulling out its chair and hefting to next to her bed, taking a seat before she urged her to continue.

"And how does this… card spirits… explain that earlier question? On how you seem to have cards that no one has seen before?" Sister Claire asked, with Mei looking up towards her with a dozen questions seemingly in her mind.

"So it's not normal?" The purple haired girl asked with a tilt of her head, and their caretaker giggled as she shook her head to answer her question.

"No, no it is certainly not." The blonde nun said with a small smile, giving the small girl a pat on her head that made her squirm. "You've certainly gotten used to Yuuna here pulling cards from spirits apparently haven't you? No Mei, people doing something like what Yuuna has been doing is most certainly not normal."

"When you put it like that Claire nee-san, you're making it sound as if I'm some sort of rare creature…" She said dryly with a straight face, a response that made Sister Claire giggle, though she hid it as she placed a hand over her mouth.

"Why, there certainly is only one person that I've known so far that has wanted to talk about 'card spirits', so I would count you as a rare person Yuuna." The nun said with light cheer, a small smile on her face.

"But that's good right? Being rare." Mei said beside her, "Rare cards are great so being rare should be good right?" And she could only respond to the purple haired girl's somewhat childish and pure view and smiled wryly.

"In this situation, I guess it is." She said with a soft giggle of her own, shaking her head lightly at Mei's antics before straightening her features and speaking once more. "But I guess this one is a bit different from being just 'rare'." She said.

"Card spirits, or just spirits for the sake of simplicity, are… well, spiritual manifestations of dueling cards, their duel spirits so to say." She started, raising her right hand in front of her with her palms outstretched.

And making a card appear from out of nowhere.

The reaction that she received was quite what she had expected, with Mei letting out a gasp as she held both of her hands on her mouth with wide eyes, and Sister Claire's eyes going as wide as dinner plates, shock apparent on both of their faces.

Though this was undoubtedly a serious moment, especially for her, she couldn't help but enjoy looking at both Sister Claire and Mei's surprised looks, and handed the card, being one of the prizes from the quest that she got from winning the tournament a few days ago towards Mei. The purple haired girl fumbling the card in her hand before inspecting it in detail.

And she did it again, snapping her fingers and making another card appear. Giving it to Mei again before she flicked her wrist to manifest another one, and then continued to speak. "They're basically in every card, though some manifest stronger than others."

She remembered from the top of her head a few cases from the 'story' where a spirit that resided in a card manifested, though most of the cases were 'evil' and malicious spirits who wanted to cause harm to others, those were more memorable for her compared to the handful of actually helpful and 'good' spirits.

"In my case, I can make contracts and exchange with certain spirits and have them manifest as cards like that one, or the other ones that I have." She said, horridly simplifying the Shop system in a way that could be believed by Mei and Sister Claire.

"They usually ask me to do something specific or exchange with something of equal value, DP most of the time really. I'm basically a walking spiritual card printer of sorts." She said with a bright smile, ignoring the implications that she could have to the card economy.

"That explains where you get all those cards." Mei muttered aloud as she played with the cards that was still in her hand.

"But… there are a lot of cards in this world, and most of them have copies." Sister Claire spoke, having regained her bearings after a few moments of staring at the cards that were now in Mei's hands in silence. "Does that do… anything, if they have spirits in them?"

She took a moment to think before she spoke again, internally cursing herself for using spiritual shenanigans as a cover story for her God given ability, even if she wasn't that knowledgeable in that topic.

"That certainly is true." She said, trying to hide the nervousness with a chuckle, though a tick that she's quite sure Sister Claire would notice, and continued. "I'm not quite sure about the details regarding that, but the card's spirits would be more receptive and active depending on the duelist."

She raised a finger as she started to list an example. "It's an affinity sort of thing, I'm pretty sure. Because it works both ways. Some duelists are attracted to some decks more than others, and others the opposite."

That said she gestured towards Mei who was now looking up towards her, her attention taken away from the cards in her hand. "For example, Mei is more inclined to Machine-type decks, even after I had given her the chance to change into something else."

"That's not just something that you give away easily…" Sister Claire said with a long tired sigh, but she pretended not to hear and continued anyway.

"And you're also inclined more with Spellcasters aren't you Claire nee-san?" She asked the blonde nun, who stopped for a second at her question, and placed a hand under her chin as she thought.

"That's…" She trailed off, seemingly lost in thought as she looked down. "I never thought about it before. Playing them just felt… right."

"Un. The same for me too." Said Mei, the purple haired girl beside her nodding as well as she also agreed.

And wasn't she glad that they actually believed that, because everything that she had just said was something that she came up with on the spot.

Sure she based it on the fact that almost every people that she's seen in the 'story', well important 'characters' anyway, uses an archetype of cards or a deck with a theme, something that started around after GX if her hazy memory remembered correctly, but it was all pure conjecture with what amounted to zero solid evidence.

"But that isn't much of a proof is it?" The blonde nun said, the edge of her lips creasing downwards ever so slightly to form a frown. "You say that some people are more… drawn to some decks, but that's not really much evidence. Most of the time that's circumstantial."

Saying so, the nun then motioned towards herself. "My Magician Girl deck is the deck that I use because it's the one deck that I own. The same could be said for most duelists, most of them only have one deck and one deck alone."

She continued as she waved towards the two of them. "If anything, everyone really works with what card they have and what cards they get. You say that Mei's more drawn to Machine-type decks, but you're only saying that because that's all that she's been able to use."

"Well there certainly is some truth in that." She said with a nod and a chuckle, again trying to hide the nervousness that she had as she closed her eyes, her mind rapidly thinking of an appropriate believable answer.

"Duel spirits dwell in the cards, whether Mei's actual inclination for Machine-type decks and the fact that she's only had Machine-type cards to play with so far is a coincidence or… fate, isn't really something that I know." She said with a shrug.

"That's… something to hear. Fate huh…" Mei said as she trailed off, and again, she shrugged.

"Not really much that I can tell you about, it's not like I can understand how the spirits works." She said with full sincerity. "If anything the most important thing that they actually do is that the more connected a duelist is to their deck, or I guess 'the spirit of their cards', the higher the chances of them actually responding."

"... and what do you mean by 'actually responding'?" The blonde nun asked her with a raised eyebrow, and she answered back with what she remembered.

"Hm, like your deck somehow responding to your calls? You know, drawing the cards that you need when you're in a pinch or something like that." She finished, ending once again with another shrug.

Both the purple haired girl and the blonde nun proceeded to stare at her blankly, and both then let out a long sigh. "That's… not a small thing to gloss over Yuuna." Sister Claire said as she stared at her slowly growing grin.

"Yuuna…" Mei followed, sending a glare her way.

"Oh, a tidbit that I should also add, I guess." She said as she remembered, snapping her fingers to attract the attention of the two before her.

"This isn't that important, but there are cases where spirits actually go wild, so to say. Where they manifest themselves in the world one way or another and actually do something on the real world."

"Wait wait wait wait wait, hold up just one minute." Allen said, waving his hands in front of him. "Is this like, a joke or something?" The brown haired boy said, having a thoroughly confused expression.

The five of them, them being of course herself, Anna, Allen, Myu, and Sayaka, were all still in her apartment. All of them having finished the light breakfast that she had bought at the nearest Heartland Convenience Store chain, and having started their 'interrogation' on her as the brown haired boy had put it.

She sighed, this having been not the first time that Allen had interrupted her explanation. "What part of it do you think is a joke now?" She said, starting to slowly but surely grow annoyed at his antics of cutting in during her explanations.

"Uh, everything?!" The boy said as waved his hands towards her, irritation clear on his features. "We're supposed to believe that cards have spirits "

"Well how're we supposed to believe that she's not the one that's been giving them all those cards!"

She… expected this kind of reaction. Denial and suspicion was most certainly one of the many possible reactions that she could have gotten, and realistically it was the most obvious response that she would get.

There were always people that wouldn't believe in the supernatural, even if they've been shown proof of it's existence, though she's only shown them her 'trick' of taking cards out from her Inventory, nothing of the sort that was blatantly spiritual related really.

And it was honestly fair for Allen to suspect that she had something to do with the appearance of the Numbers, especially when she didn't know whether or not her existence in this dimension was the cause of the shift in the 'story' that made them appear.

With her and her Utopia cards being the first 'Numbers' that he had seen, it was also believable for him to believe that she could possibly be the cause of this whole mess. That Numbers Hunter seemed to believe that her cards were the same after all.

"I'll say this just once, but the Number cards that I have are different." She said with her eyes closed, flicking her wrist once more and taking out one of the many forms of Utopia that weren't that important to her, and throwing them to someone who would actually see the difference between them.

That being of course the ever observant Sayaka, who yelped as she tried to catch the card, fumbling a few times before finally managing to grasp it.

The glasses wearing girl briefly skimmed through the monster card's text, taking a few moments before her eyes widening behind her glasses as she saw the difference between the cards that they had dueled against.

"Huh? That part isn't…" The lilac haired girl muttered as she skimmed the effect of the cards once more, finding the missing part of the card text that the other 'Numbers' had.

"What is it? So they're really different?" Myu asked as she inched closer to the glasses wearing girl, and soon enough the others followed suit, with Anna inching closer to see from the girl's shoulder while Allen still sat with his arms crossed, though he kept sending glasses towards the three.

"The part where it can't be destroyed by battle with monsters other than Numbers isn't there." The lilac haired girl said, pointing out the difference between the Number cards that she had seen and the one in her hand.

"What? Just that?" The brown haired boy said with a scoff, keeping his arms crossed as he sent his glare her way. "So what? That doesn't make much of a difference."

"That means that the Numbers card that she has and the one that Shark had is different!" Myu shouted at the brown haired boy with a frown, visibly annoyed at the attitude that he has had throughout the entirety of the morning.

"As I said, the cards that I have are different from the one that he has. And all the other Numbers monsters that are most likely running around right now." She said as she looked out of the window.

"Wait, wait, wait, hold up, what do you mean other Numbers?" Anna interjected, raising her hand and turning everyone's attention towards her. She sighed, and pointed towards the card in Sayaka's hand that they were all gathering around.

"They are called 'Numbers' for a reason after all, and as far as I can tell there's around 99 of them roaming around possessing people." She stopped. "Or well, overwhelming their emotions at the very least. Making them do something that they won't and messing with their inhibitors."

"Mess up their inhibitors? What do you mean?" Sayaka asked as she held the card close in her hands, a sense of worry and dread filling her heart.

"Well in a sense, it makes people do what they normally wouldn't do." She said, simplifying what she thinks the case of being 'Numbers possessed' is. "Most likely their negative emotions, making them more violent or prone to violence. Though of course, there are exceptions."

"Exceptions like you huh." Allen spat out as he kept glaring at her, clearly still distrusting her after her most recent reveal.

"No, I'm not a part of the 'exception'." She said, shaking her head and ignoring Allen's scathing remark. "I'm an outlier, after all the Numbers monsters that I'm using are different from the one that they are. The exceptions that I'm speaking about are people with the mental fortitude to keep their emotions in check."

Then stopped again as she placed a hand on her chin and thought. "Well, either that or having some other special circumstances behind them. Either that or being stupidly stubborn to the point that something like that won't matter."

"That's extremely specific." The cherry haired girl drolled out as she rolled her eyes, a drop of sweat falling from her head before she let out a sigh. "But still… Allen is right on some account."

"Yeah!" The brown haired boy shouted as he turned to his sister, only for her to smack the top of his head.

"On the fact that it's unbelievable." She stated, giving her brother a harsh stare before breaking eye contact with him to look towards her. "I mean honestly, card spirits possessing people? Making cards out of nothing? That's crazy."

The cherry haired girl shook her head as she sighed once again, scratching the back of her head. "But well, there's proof, yeah? From Shark's lackeys going wild, Shark himself, then we have you just… being you." She said, gesturing towards her.

"I'll take that as a compliment." She replied with a hint of amusement as Anna continued.

"Point is." The cherry haired girl said. "That this uh, wild Numbers I guess we'll call em', are bad news. Especially if they make people go crazy like you said, and can even do something like what happened yesterday." She said, eyeing the trio who sat, all of whom winced at the mention of yesterday's debacle.

"And we all know how bad those can get." Anna growled, her fist clenching as images of what Shark had done to her little brother and their friends, and then imagining that those Numbers cards are out there and making people go wild just like him.

"I-I've heard that Shark-san has been more… wild recently…" Sayaka muttered, mostly to herself, but everyone clearly heard it.

She hummed as she closed her eyes, thinking of what the glasses wearing girl had just said. "Then that might be the reason, though I've never personally met him before to know these changes that you said." She agreed with a nod, accepting what the girl said as she had never even met the boy in question, having only 'read' and 'seen' him from 'before'.

"I-it's just rumours Yuuna-san." The lilac haired girl started as she fixed the position of her glasses. "From the start Shark-san has always been… confrontational." Allen snorted at the accusation. "But recently there's been rumours about him just randomly dueling someone and then… stealing their cards." She said with a hint of sadness in her tone.

And wasn't that an offence in this world of card games. What he did was basically this 'peaceful' anime world's equivalent of a mugging, daylight robbery in fact. Though she doubts that someone like him would even be caught by this world's equivalent of police enforcers since they too use that same card games to capture 'criminals' like him.

As the words left Sayaka's mouth and she digested them, she raised an eyebrow. "But that didn't happen to the two of you, right?" She said, turning to both Allen and Myu, with the silver haired girl nodding silently while the brown haired boy clicked his tongue and looked away.

"Bet he just didn't have the time to do it." He grumbled. "Since Nee-san came and stopped him from doing that and all." That got the cherry haired girl's attention as she then began to frown, but she interjected as she shook her head.

"That might not be the case." She said as she gestured to Anna. "While it's true that she might have stopped him from doing something like that, it's also possible that he wasn't planning on doing the same thing to the both of you."

Before anyone could interrupt her, she turned towards Myu and asked. "How many Numbers monsters did he have again?"

"Um, there was the one that was used against me, number 17 I believe? Leviathan Dragon." The lilac haired girl started with a raised hand, naming the card that was used against her by one of Shark's lackeys that stole said card.

"There was one that can attack directly that I duelled against. Nightmare Shark I think." The twin tailed silver haired girl said, remembering the monster that her opponent used, and both she and Sayaka then turned to Allen.

"Tch, mine was just a large one with 3000 attack. Acid Golem of something whatever." He said.

"Then there's also the one that he used in his duel." Myu said with a small frown marring her features. "Shark Drake. And then the evolved white version of it."

She closed her eyes as she scrolled through the list of the monsters that the three had named. 17, 47, 30, along with 32 and C 32, they were certainly a handful of Numbers monsters. "So 4 as far as we know, not counting the Shark Drake's Chaos variant that he also got his hands on." She said with a nod.

"Him attacking others and taking their cards might be how he got them." She said, drawing everyone's full attention towards herself. "I said earlier that having them makes people more violent and volatile right? I'm quite sure that this is one of the reasons."

"Reasons?" Anna said, her eyebrow crunching as she sent her gaze towards her. "What do you mean, reasons?"

"It's like a system of some sort." She began. "It makes them more confrontational, more prone to violence, and I guess more aggressive in dueling… and attracting them to other people with Numbers." She finished.

Though the last part was a conjecture, seeing as somehow the Numbers itself was spread wide, she doesn't have a doubt that it was also an internal mechanism of some sort that made them attracted to one another, be it in search of combat or in search of an owner who suited it better she doesn't know. Again, spirit shenanigans were in no way her forte.

But Anna seemed to get what she meant as her eyes went wide, "Wait so you're saying that the cards that he took from the guys he beat-"

"Are most likely those Number cards that he now had. Four isn't a small number, and I don't doubt that that number would grow too." She said with a nod cutting the cherry haired girl's sentence, seeing that she had come to the same conclusion.

Internally, she knew that his plethora of cards would grow. After all the number of Water Numbers monster was quite numerous, especially ones that she 'knew' was supposed to be in his repertoire. 71: Rebarian Shark, 73: Abyss Splash and it's Chaos variant Abyss Supra, along with the over hundreds, though their existence was in question since her own 'mission' only counted the hundred.

"Darn it…" The cherry haired girl growled through gritted teeth, clenching her fist as rage oozes in her veins. "So it's not just Shark, but everyone who has these damned cards too!" She shouted and glared towards her, to which she could only nod.

"Most likely, yes." She said sadly, and a grim silence befell the room. One that was broken as she let out a sigh, turning and looking towards the door. "I'll try to keep my ears out for rumours about them if any. That way we could get more information about them."

"'We'?" Anna said after a moment, blinking towards her as she let out a sigh again.

"As much as I want to solve this whole mess on my own," the affronted look on the girl's face already told her of a whole other problem that that'll bring on her, "Heartland City is a bit too large for me to run around on my own."

With another sigh, she turned and looked towards Anna with a knowing smirk. "And I doubt that you'll just sit pretty while all of this is happening in your backyard would you?"

A small blush overtook the cherry haired girl before she puffed her chest. "O-ofcourse I won't!" She said aloud, before sending a glare towards her. "This isn't just your problem you know! This goes for all of us too! So we'll do everything that we can to help!"

"Again, Yuuna, that isn't something small that you can just gloss over." Sister Claire groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose as she shook her head in quiet frustrations. "You can't just, tell someone that some spirits can just go berserk and possibly possess people and just not elaborate."

"Yeah! That's, that's not something that you can' just not tell about!" Mei added on, agreeing and nodding at Sister Claire's own statement.

She giggled at the duo's reaction, knowing full well that it was something that she had expected to see out of the two of them as soon as the words left her lips. "Ah well, sorry about that. Though there's not much that I can actually talk about this topic though."

"Really?" The blonde nun said suspiciously with a raised eyebrow. "Are you going to really say an extremely open ended statement with radical implications like that and basically leave it at that?" She asked her tiredly, more or less figuring that she wouldn't elaborate further than what she had already.

"As much as I'm connected to all this 'spirit stuff'," which in actuality, is very much not at all, "I'm not an expert on it. At most I'm like a merchant, or a travel agent of sorts that lets them get a way to manifest in this world through cards." She said as she flicked her hand and pulled out another card from her inventory, and flicked it towards Sister Claire.

The blonde haired nun let out a long suffering sigh as she handedly caught the thrown card deftly with one hand. "And you really shouldn't be throwing cards like that. Especially after what you just told us about them." She chided.

"Haha, sorry, it's a bit of a habit though." She laughed good naturedly as she the blonde nun let out another sigh, tiredly taking a glance at the card that she had just gotten her hands on and raised an eyebrow, but not commenting on the card that she had received.

"But well… that's that about me, I suppose." She said with a small smile, one that slowly morphed into a frown. "Now to the actually important part I guess."

"How was none of those things you just talked about not important." Sister Claire groaned, and though she giggled a bit at her reaction, she shook her head as she got back to being serious.

"I- well, I guess it's something that the spirits told me, but…" She hesitated, holding the words even as they were at the tip of her tongue.

So far, the two of them had been accepting. Not calling anything that she had said to be lies and trusting every word that came out from her mouth.

Her will was slowly withering, the bravado that she had put up faltering as her mind questioned on whether or not she should continue speaking of this.

Logically speaking, in a world like this, one that stands on the 'laws' of 'anime', especially in a 'children's show' like Yu-Gi-Oh, there stands one law that was absolute.

It was that the heroes would always win, and live happily ever after.

So in truth, there really wasn't a need for her to tell Mei and Sister Claire of what she 'knew' the Academia was doing behind closed doors, though she had an inkling that Sister Claire already knows something about it, but was there even a need to burden them with the knowledge?

Whatever crisis there is, no matter if she had already 'undertaken' the quest to try and stop the Professor's attempts to invade the XYZ Dimension and commit atrocities, there was really no need to drag the two who she considered family into this mess when the 'hero', the 'protagonist' would surely fix all the problems.

There really wasn't a need to tell them, to burden them with the knowledge. For all intents and purposes, the changes that they could bring should they know about the future happenings of the world was infinitely small, and they might not even be positive.

After all, as much as she hates to admit it, compared to the 'protagonist' and their allies, both Sister Claire, Mei, and possibly even herself barring her status as a reincarnator, are merely side characters in the 'narrative'.

And the only people who could truly alter the story of this world are the protagonist and their friends, side characters like them could really only change the happenings in the background, things that won't matter in the long run, the main narrative.

She even doubts that she herself is capable of changing the 'story' of the world. Because although she fits several 'tropes', being a reincarnator, having a name that starts with Yu of all things, and possessing a 'system', and having a 'mission' that would change a large part of the 'plot', the creeping doubt still exists in the back of her mind.

But… even knowing all of that… even knowing all of this… a small part of her wishes to still tell them. Because even if they don't matter in the cosmic scale of the world, they all still deserve to know the truth of what will happen in the future.

Her silence was however broken by the blonde nun who spoke first. "If you don't want to talk about it then you don't have to." She said, and her head snapped to her in an instant, watching the woman whose eyes were closed.

"I can tell that there's still something that you want to talk about, undoubtedly something as groundbreaking as all these spirit things that you spoke about, but if you don't want to talk about it it's fine."

She briefly turned towards Mei, and the purple haired girl had a thoughtful look on her face, brows scrunched for a brief few moments before she hastily shook her head. "Yeah! It's fine if you don't want to tell us Yuuna! I'm still really racking my head on all this spirit stuff too!"

Instead of reassuring her like what she believed they thought it would, the words that came from the two of them only twist her heart even further.

So she closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.

And decided to tell them.

She told them of the fate of the world, of what the 'spirits' warned her about the Professor, knowledge of the different dimensions and different summoning methods, little though they might be, she told them all of the knowledge of the 'story' that she had, masking them as information given by the spirits.

"That's as far as I know about… the invasion." She said, finished with explaining the glimpse of the XYZ Dimension invasion that still stuck with her all these years, and watched the horrified looks of Mei and the grim face of Sister Claire.

"That's… that's horrible…" The purple haired girl said, her face as pale as a sheet of paper, the blood drained from her face at the horrors that she had spoken. "The Professor would-would he really do something like that?"

"..." SIster Claire stayed silent, the grim look on her face growing fiercer as she balled her hand into fists.

And her response to their reaction was quite simple. Baffled. "You… believe all this?" She spoke quietly at first, but then slowly gained a hint of confidence back. "The two of you would just… believe everything that I just said? Even though they're completely insane and-"

"Of course."

"Yeah!"

The response that she received was instant, not a single second passed for thought as the answers were given. "That's… this is all unbelievable you know." She said slowly, her head hung low.

"That's true." Sister Claire agreed with a nod.

"I'm talking about actual spirits here, you know? You said it yourself that the implications that they give are mind boggling. They don't even make sense."

"Well yeah, that's true." Mei answered this time, "But that would kind of explain the uh, you know." She said, gesturing towards her, and that elicited a snort from her.

"And you believe all the things that I said about the Professor? About the Academia?" This time there was a pause, before a sigh came out from the blonde nun.

"That's… I've always had an inkling that that man was up to something." She began, her head turned towards the window, looking over it and towards the man-made island looming over the horizon.

"There is a reason why I stayed here, rather than just go out into the world after I left the Academia." The nun said wistfully, receiving a small gasp from the purple haired girl beside her.

"You were part of the Academia Claire nee-san?!" She shouted as she jumped from her seat, a mixture of emotions clearly seen through her features. The adoration that she had and the horrific tales that she learnt the institution would do clashing against one another in her head.

"Yes, but that's not important right now. Whatever they're going to do… if it's even a fraction of as bad as you say it might be…" The blonde nun shook her head and sighed, a scowl growing full force on her face. "Tsk! Damn it!

In a rare occasion, the blonde nun cursed, showing the full extent of her rage before she closed her eyes. Taking a moment to calm herself down as she took a deep long breath while both Mei and herself watched in trepidation.

"As much as I want the two of you to pull out from the Academia now that we know this, doing that now would be highly suspicious. No doubt that'll alert them of something if we don't give them a good enough reason." The sister said with a grumble.

"And I don't think that we'd do that anyway." She muttered aloud, gaining the sister's attention. "Or well, for me at least. The spirits gave me the mission. The least I could do is try and do whatever I can to stop him."

"T-then I'm going to go too!" Mei shouted as she raised her hand high. "If Yuuna's going to do secret spy stuff then I'm going too!" With determination, the girl shouted so, willing to come with her to the Academia in order to help her.

"Mei…" She looked towards the purple haired girl, who in response gave her a confident grin and a thumbs up, eliciting a chuckle out from her.

"You two…" The blonde nun trailed off before she walked towards them silently, and both Mei and herself kept silent, waiting for a response from the sister, whether it be anger at them still insisting on going or a reprimand of some sort.

Instead the woman lowered herself and pulled the two of them into a hug.

And the rest of that memory faded into the deepest recess of her mind.

"Well you can do whatever you want." She said, "Quite honestly, this whole mess shouldn't have even concerned you all but…"

"We're all already dragged into it anyway, yeah?" Anna said with a determined look on her face, tilting her head towards the three who were sitting down. "Since Shark's lackeys tried to attack them, and then dragged us into it."

"Technically, yes." She said with a sigh, placing a hand on her temple as she shook her head. "I'd warn you all to keep away and not to dig deeper, but you'd probably do the opposite."

"Damn straight!" The cherry haired girl shouted with a grin.

And with after letting out a long sigh, a small smile bloomed. "Then I guess it can't be helped. You can do whatever you want." One that lasted for only a brief second before she turned serious once more. "But be sure to be careful. We don't know what's going to happen out there."

"Alright! Then first order of business is-"

"You all going home." She said, cutting whatever it was that Anna was going to say as her head snapped towards her. She raised an eyebrow, "You do remember that you basically did an impromptu 'sleepover' to disguise what happened yesterday right? No doubt that your parents are going to be worried about you all by now."

"Oh crap you're right! Mom's gonna kill me!" The cannon-carrying girl shouted, her hand snapping out towards her brown haired brother before she dashed and opened the window. "Alrightwe'regoingseeyouguyslater!" She rushed out hastily much to Allen's distress, throwing the small purse still on her person, and it growing larger into her signature transportation and jumping on to it and blasted off to God knows where.

The three of them could only stand dumbfounded as the girl went off and jumped off of her apartment, which was on the third floor without hesitation all while having Allen in one hand, and disappeared in the span of less than a minute.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them again to watch the still dumbfounded other two girls. "You two should also probably go home. Just… don't jump off of the window please? And take some of these before you go too."

"I can't believe this…"

"What's wrong Allen?" Sayaka asked, inching closer to her childhood friend as she looked at him with worry clear in her eyes. One that he responded with a click of his tongue as he turned his head away.

"I mean seriously, you're all just believing all of this Numbers crap." He grumbled, glaring at them as the three of them kept walking. A few hours had already passed since their hectic morning discussion with Yuuna, and after they showed their respective parents they were fine, they met up at one of the parks to simply hang out.

"Well… there were evidence, no matter how much you tried to disprove it." She said with closed eyes, remembering once more the powers that Shark used to bring them down, along with of course Yuuna's own supernatural abilities.

"I know but still… this is all just too much." The brown haired boy said with gritted teeth, hanging his head down. Both she and Sayaka shared a glance, before the lilac haired girl inched closer to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry Allen, it'll be fine." She said, trying to reassure the brown haired boy, her hand moving down to hold his hand. "Honestly, I'm also worried. All this mess about Numbers and supernatural things is… overwhelming for myself too honestly, I know how you feel."

The girl closed her eyes as she thought. "I-honestly all these things about supernatural abilities, spirits, these Number cards, they're all unbelievable. It's like one of the plots of those shows that you always dragged me to watch when we were still kids."

And she opened her eyes once again, her blue eyes meeting Allen's own teal ones. "But we know it's real. We've seen it. You've-you've felt it." She gripped the brown haired boy's hand tighter, her head hung down.

"I-when I saw that both you and Myu-what Shark did to the two of you… I-I was scared. I was really scared." Her voice grew quieter and quieter, the lilac haired girl was shaking in fear from just remembering.

She herself winced, remembering how she had lost consciousness as soon as their shared Life Points hit zero at Shark's final attack, and began inching closer to the lilac haired girl as she placed a hand over the girl's shoulder. "Sayaka…" She called out the girl's name, who shook her head and lifted her head once again.

"Thinking about you, about anyone fighting against someone with an ability like that, that can do something like that, to hurt people if they even duel-it's… it's scary." She spoke again. "I don't want you fighting against someone like that. I don't want anyone fighting against someone like that."

She took a deep breath, and continued once more, this time with a saddened smile on her face. "But Anna-san's determined to help Yuuna-san. And Yuuna-san even intended to do this with or without our help."

Then the glasses wearing girl showed a look of determination. "Because of that I-I'm going to help too. Even if it's scary, even if it's dangerous, if I can do this and help others from this, then I'm going to help. I'm still not sure what exactly it is we're going to do to try and help, but we're definitely going to help."

She nodded too, also feeling extremely worried at the whole thing that is supposedly happening in this city, in her home. But knowing that at least Yuuna was doing something, that they're going to do something was

"Tch, I know about that already… geez! How annoying!" He grumbled, then shouted, ruffling and messing with his already messy brown hair all the while. "Fine! We'll just do that then! We'll push through all this supernatural Number nonsense head on!" He shouted, raising a fist high with his eyes burning in determination.

And seeing their friend back to his usual self brought a smile to their face. Seeing him of all people being down and uncharacteristically down was heart wrenching, and how he had been acting was starting to get on her nerves to be quite honest.

If Sayaka hadn't been the one to give him her pep talk she would've quite literally tried to snap him out of his slump. With a more physical method rather than Sayaka's own choice of words.

"Then I know exactly where we should go!" The brown haired boy roared out, walking ahead. She and Sayaka briefly shared a glance once more before coming to follow him.

"And…where…exactly…are we…" She said between huff as she gasped for air, with Sayaka slowly trailing behind her as she looked towards the barely winded brown haired boy with disdain clear in her eyes.

One that he ignored as he simply pointed towards the building that was apparently their destination a wooden dojo in the middle of nowhere. "We're going there of course!" He said with a grin.

"And where exactly is here." She said as she glared at him, hoping to get some sort of explanation from the boy while Sayaka slowly climbed up behind them.

"It's a training dojo. Duh." The brown haired boy said simply, looking at her with a face as he looked at her like she was stupid. Something that quite irritated her. "Getting beat by Shark got me thinking. Even with all these new cards that Yuuna gave us, we still couldn't beat him, so what we should do is train to get stronger!"

Then he pointed towards the wooden dojo. "So we're going to train here! I heard that the old man here is pretty strong, so we can just challenge him and get better at dueling!"

"I guess that's one way to try and get stronger…" She trailed off, letting out a sigh as she tuned and saw Sayaka finally getting to the top of the mountain, heaving for breath as she slumped towards the paved ground.

"We'll, I guess since we're here we just have to try it." She said, letting out a sigh as she helped the lilac haired girl stand up, earning a thanks from her before they made their way inside the dojo.

And the inside of the building was… different than what she had imagined, not that she even had an image to think of it. What with the place being filled with wooden statues of various monsters, all of which were cut cleanly in half, sliced diagonally with their other halves left in the ground. Otherwise, the place was empty.

"Who goes there." A voice resounded throughout the room, and they all jumped, looking all around the dojo to find the source of the voice, and finding it to be a man standing right in the middle of the room, in a sitting position with his back turned behind them.

"Wha-he wasn't there before?!" She yelped as she took a step back, and the man slowly stood up, the tall young man clothed in black and purple clothes resembling a ninja rising to his full height as he stared down at them with his teal eyes.

"I shall only ask once more, who dares trespass into my dojo." He spoke once again, his gaze boring holes towards them.

"Your dojo? So you're the owner of this place?" Allen asked as he stood in front of them, before speaking again. "Wait a minute, you're not an old man. What gives?! Where's the old guy that we're supposed to challenge! The dojo master or whatever?!"

"I am the grandmaster of this dojo!" He roared, waving his right arm forwards, glaring at them furiously as he scowled. "Roku is gone! I have bested him and thus I am now the master of the Duel Sanctuary!"

"Um… I… see." Sayaka spoke behind them, nodding at the young man's words. "Then um, might I ask where Roku-san is? We're here to look for train-"

"You. You're searching for that man!?" The black haired spat out, his eyes narrowing. "No… you must be his students, his remaining ones yes… one that seeks to destroy me!" He shouted, waving his arms out.

"What?! No! We're just-"

"Then for the sake of the Duel Sanctuary, for opposing I, the new grandmaster, I shall destroy you!" He roared out, waving his hand forwards as two other people clothed the same way as him in black and purple colours came behind him, their face obscured entirely by their mask.

But what was more importantly, was the shining mark that shone at the back of his hand.

"Wha-that mark!" Sayaka gasped behind them.

"That's the same as the one that those guys had!" She shouted, cursing under her breath as she glared at Allen. "Of course the place that you take us has to have someone that's being possessed by those things!"

"Hey! It's not my fault that none of you gave a better option!" Allen whined, a scowl clear on his face.

"You didn't even explain where we were going idiot! Gods!" She shouted in annoyance, before shaking her head and stepping forwards. "I'll do it. I'll duel against him while you two take care of the other two."

"...you sure?" The brown haired boy said after a moment of pause, a frown of worry clear on his face.

"Don't worry about me. I can handle myself." She said with a huff. "Besides," She said with a small smile. "I also wanted to try out the new cards that Yuuna gave me too."

"Tch, just don't lose alright." The brown haired boy said, turning around and activating his duel disk before running out of the dojo following their chosen opponents. Both him and Sayaka prepare themselves for their own duels while she faces off against the so-called grandmaster ninja of this dojo.

"So you have prepared yourself then." The black and cyan haired ninja declared from his seated position, and the silver haired twin tailed girl nodded her head.

"Yeah." She curtly responded, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath before activating her pink duel disk and bracing her left arm ahead of her.

"Then face your doom!" He roared as he jumped, spinning in the air before landing gracefully with his duel disk already active, the dark purple duel blade facing towards her as the man faced off against her menacingly.

And so the duel began.

""DUEL!""

Kaze Yamikawa: 4000 LP

Myu: 4000 LP

"I shall go first, and forgo drawing." The Number holder declared, taking the first turn that she would have preferred for herself with her style of dueling. Though as the challenger she couldn't really refute his choice of going first.

"I shall begin by summoning Upstart Golden Ninja!" He said, placing a card in between his index finger and middle finger, and flamboyantly threw it into his duel disk, then the purple and golden garbed ninja then appeared with a burst of smoke, materialising onto the field.

Upstart Golden Ninja - Light/Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 500/1800

"A ninja… I guess it's a deck that fits your theme huh." She noted as she mumbled aloud, watching the monster with wary eyes. A monster with a low attack points like that being summoned could really only mean one thing…

"Then I shall activate Upstart Golden Ninja's ability!" The acting ninja grandmaster declared aloud as he flicked his hand towards the monster. "Once per turn, I can send one Trap from my hand to the graveyard, in order to special summon one Level 4 or lower 'Ninja' monster from my deck in face-up defence position, or in face-down defence position!"

Then with a flick of his wrist, a card came into his hand, revealing one of the remaining four cards in his hand that he would send as cost for the monster's effect activation. "I shall send the Continuous Trap, Ninjitsu Art of Freezing to the graveyard, to special summon from my deck, Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo!"

And with its cost paid, the man then quickly took out a card straight from his deck and played it onto his duel disk, the dark grey and red garbed ninja then appeared in the same manner as the upstart before him, in a puff of smoke the ninja made his way onto the field in face-up defence position.

Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo - Dark/Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 1800/1000

"And then Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo shall activate his effect!" The man declared. "When Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo is flip or special summoned, I can add one 'Ninja' monster from my deck to my hand, except another 'Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo'!"

Done with explaining the monster's effect when it was special summoned, something to note as it does have the ability to miss timing, the black and blue haired ninja then proceeded to add a monster from his deck to his hand.

"I shall add Aqua Armor Ninja from my deck to my hand!" So he said, revealing the card that depicted the red clothed ninja before shuffling the now four cards in his hand. "Then I shall use the Level 4 Upstart Golden Ninja, and the Level 4 Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo, and overlay them!"

With the declaration the two warriors let out their battle cries as they turned into shining pillars of yellow and purple light as a giant vortex appeared in the middle of the dojo. "I shall form an overlay network with these two monsters, XYZ Summon!" he shouted, raising his right hand towards the air as the two pillars criss crossed one another, and entered the vortex, resulting in an explosion of light.

"Appear! Blade Armor Ninja!" And descending from the pillar of light was a heavily armoured warrior, one who stood calmly with both arms crossed in front of him and a pair of katanas strapped on his back, two glowing green orbs orbiting the XYZ Monster.

Blade Armor Ninja - Wind/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 4/Effect: 2200/1000 OV: 2

And she raised an eyebrow at the XYZ Monster that her opponent had summoned, her eyes moving from the monster from its armored helmet to its toes. "It's… not a Number monster?" She muttered as her eyebrows furrowed.

"Then that means that he couldn't summon it or… he's hiding it until the right time comes." She concluded, noting that the man had added a different monster earlier, and wondered if that card was what he would use to summon his noted Number monster.

"And I shall activate its effect." So the man declared, raising his right hand slowly as his hand still formed that typical ninja hand sign. "Once per turn, Blade Armor Ninja allows me to detach one of its material in order to grant a 'Ninja' monster I control the ability to attack twice this turn."

Finished with explaining his XYZ Monster's effect calmly, the man then lowered his hand to point towards his singular monster. "I shall target Blade Armor Ninja, and allow him to attack twice."

The armoured warrior brandished both of its blades briefly, its body shining with a green aura as it took one of its own XYZ Materials in order to activate its effect.

Blade Armor Ninja - Wind/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 4/Effect: 2200/1000 OV: 1

"Huh? Why did you… and it's on the first turn to…" She muttered aloud, confusion clear in her face before she shook her head rapidly, narrowing her eyes seriously as she glanced at the cards that still remained in his hand.

No, there's definitely something that he has in his hand that does something. There has to be a reason why he did what he did, she'll have to play carefully around what he has planned then.

"However, I am not finished just yet!" So the black and blue haired ninja declared, taking out one more card in his hand. "For I shall activate the Continuous Spell, Ninjitsu Art Notebook!" He shouted, placing the card on his purple duel blade, and its holographic projection shining.

"Then I shall activate its effect! Once per turn, Ninjitsu Art Notebook allows me to send one 'Ninja' monster from my hand to the graveyard, in order to set one 'Ninjitsu Art' Spell or Trap Card directly from my deck, except 'Ninjitsu Art Notebook'!" So he said, explaining the Continuous Spell's effect.

And revealed the card that he would send, that being none other than the one card that he had added just earlier. "I shall send Aqua Armor Ninja from my hand into my graveyard, to set directly to my deck Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing!" He said, revealing the card directly from his deck before placing it onto his spell and trap zone.

"Then I shall set another card face-down. And I shall end my turn." So the ninja grandmaster said, ending his turn with an XYZ Monster, two cards set in his spell and trap zone along with a Continuous Spell, and a single card left in his hand.

"Then I'll start my turn! I draw!" She declared aloud, drawing her card for turn as she then started her turn with six cards in her hand. Briefly taking a glance at the new card that she had drawn, slightly wishing that it had been in her hand earlier, then thought back on the plan that had formed as soon as she had seen her starting hand and saw that it had not changed.

After all, the newer cards that Yuuna had given her had changed how her deck works drastically, and though she still wasn't quite used to how they work since she's only gotten them a few days ago, she's sure that she can still use them to 'break the board' that her opponent had built, that being of course an XYZ Monster, along with two unknown set cards in his spell and trap zone.

"I will start by activating the Spell, Evo-Diversity!" She declared, playing the Spell card on her duel blade, and the green Spell card's holographic projection then shone in front of her. "This Spell allows me to add one 'Evoltile' or 'Evolsaur' monster from my deck to my hand!" So she said, explaining the spell which she could only activate once per turn effect was.

And quickly perusing her deck, and looking back at the cards in her hand, she decided the card that she would add, and revealed it. "I will add Evoltile Megachirella from my deck to my hand!" She said, revealing the Evoltile monster that she added to her hand.

"And I will normal summon it!" Then proceeded to immediately play the card she had just added, the small yet ferocious winged reptile monster appearing before here, hissing towards the XYZ Monster that stood tall on her opponent's side of the field.

Evoltile Megachirella - Fire/Reptile/Level 1/Effect: 0/0

"Hm, a monster with zero attack and defence I see." Her opponent mused as he looked down towards her. "So it would seem that that is one which possesses a hidden ability is it? But it is of no matter." He said, confident at his ability to weather whatever it was that she would throw at him.

Her mouth twitched slightly, growing a bit irritated at his annoying behaviour. Well she'll show him! She didn't train with everyone just to lose here before the World Duel Carnival even began! "I'll activate Megachirella's effect!" She shouted aloud as she swiped her hand towards her one monster.

"Megachirella lets me tribute one Reptile monster, then discard one card, to special summon one Level six or lower Fire Dinosaur monster from my deck!" She said, explaining the monster's on field effect before paying for its cost.

"I will tribute Megachirella, and discard from my hand Evolsaur Lios!" She said, paying the cost, and seeing as her opponent did not respond with any of the cards he had on his field, the monster's effect resolved.

"I will special summon Evolsaur Vulcano from my deck in defence position!" She shouted, placing the card immediately from her deck into her duel blade, and the projection of the winged blue vulcanodon appeared, its long neck arching down to fit the dojo as it growled towards her opponent.

Evolsaur Vulcano - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1200/1000

"Then Evolsaur Vulcano's effect!" She immediately declared, activating the effect of the monster she had special summoned. "If Evolsaur Vulcano is special summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster, I can target one 'Evolsaur' monster in my graveyard, and special summon that target, but it cannot declare an attack!

Done with explaining the monster's effect, she chose the one and only legal target for the monster's effect, that being none other than one of the newer cards that Yuuna had given her through that spiritual connection that she had.

"I will summon Evolsaur Lios from my graveyard!" She declared, summoning the monster from her graveyard in attack position, and the winged dark blue dinosaur flew onto the field, roaring loudly as its red gills expanded as it bared its fangs towards her opponent.

Evolsaur Lios - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1600/400

"Then Lios' effect activates!" She said, activating her newly summoned monster's effect on its summon. "If this card is normal or special summoned, I can set either an 'Evolutionary Bridge' or 'Evo-Singularity' from my deck." She said, explaining its effect.

Then showed the card that she would set immediately onto her field. "I will set the Trap, Evo-Singularity from my deck directly onto my field!" She declared, placing the Trap Card directly onto the field, the set card briefly being flipped face-up to show to her opponent, before it was then set face-down and disappearing into particles right behind her monster on her spell and trap zone.

"Then Lios' other effect!" She declared again, waving her hand outwards as the four winged dinosaur soared once again. "During my Main Phase, if I control this card that was normal summoned, or special summoned by the effect of a Fire monster, I can send one Fire Reptile or Dinosaur monster from my deck to the graveyard!"

And she then did just that, taking a card from her deck that fits the criteria that she would send to the graveyard and revealing it to her opponent's. "I will send the Level 6 Evolsaur Terias from my deck to the graveyard!" So she said, then she sent the card to her duel disk's graveyard slot.

"But that's not all!" She continued, "Because then I can make two monsters on the field become the same Type and Level as that monster that's sent to the graveyard!" She declared aloud, fully explaining the monster's effect.

"Oho? So your card can change the Level of your monsters then." The man hummed, his head held high. "Hmph, a monster that has quite the plethora of effects it would seem."

"I'll target both my Level 4 Evolsaur Vulcano and Evolsaur Lios, and change their Levels to match Evolsaur Terias in my graveyard!" She declared, and the two monsters on her field then roared, both monsters briefly glowed with a piercing re aura as their Levels increased.

Evolsaur Vulcano - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 6/Effect: 1200/1000

Evolsaur Lios - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 6/Effect: 1600/400

"So it is two Level 6 monsters is it?" The purple clad man noted aloud, noting the two monsters that she had gathered on the field with the same Level. "So you do have some skill to back up your words then."

Her eye twitched annoyingly, but she continued disregarding his words. "Then I will take the now Level 6 Evolsaur Vulcano, and my now Level 6 Evolsaur Lios, and overlay the two of them!" She declared aloud as she raised her right hand up, the two monsters whose name she declared then roared as they shone and turned into glowing red pillars of lights that circled one another.

"With these two monsters, I will construct an overlay network! XYZ Summon!" She declared as she raised her hand high, and once more, the two shining pillars crossed one another as they then entered the shining vortex, and exploded into a flash of light.

"Evolve! Evolzar Lars!" She shouted aloud, and the pillar of light slowly dissipated as a new monster appeared, and a wicked black winged gigantic monster surrounded by blue flames graced onto the field, the horned monster letting out a roar that shook the dojo as two blazing red orbs orbited the monster.

Evolzar Lars - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 6/Effect: 2500/1000 OV: 2

It was amazing, she thought. How just a single card would allow her to basically access her entire pool of XYZ Monsters, limited though it might be especially since she would only accept so much of Yuuna's generosity.

Lios letting her change the Level of her monsters', or any monsters on the field for that matter, gave her leeway to summon one of the XYZ monsters that she had thought would be impossible to summon, or at least incredibly difficult to, Evolzar Solda. All while getting extra plays since it sets Evolutionary Bridge or Evo-Singularity directly from her deck so she doesn't need to draw them.

But in a situation like this, where her opponent has two cards on his spell and trap zone, one of course being the Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing that he set directly from his deck with Ninjitsu Art Notebook and the other being a complete unknown, Lars was the better option for a Rank 6 XYZ with the ability to overpower the monster on her opponent's side of the field.

"Now battle!" And she immediately went to the Battle Phase as soon as her summon was successful, waving her hand out towards her monster whose attack was higher than her opponent's. "I will attack our Blade Armor Ninja! Go! Lars!"

The gigantic winged dragon roared, spreading its wings wide as it raised one of its large claws and bringing it down towards the bladed warrior,

Yet her opponent was unperturbed. A small smirk made its way onto his face as he closed his eyes. And he scoffed. "I had thought that you would have more skill behind you with how confident you had been to challenge me, but it seems I had expected too much out of you, girl."

She blinked, "Huh-?"

"I shall activate the Continuous Trap, Call of the Haunted!" The ninja declared, sending his right hand forward as he made one of those hand signs, flipping up one of the two set cards on his side of the field face-up.

"This card allows me to special summon a monster from my graveyard in attack position!" The man declared, and with a swift draw, took out one of the monster cards in his graveyard and revealed it to her.

"I shall target Grandmaster Ninja Hanzo!" He declared, showing the monster card that he would revive.

"That's-!" The monster that he had used for an XYZ Summon on his first turn, then detached for the monster's effect, even if it essentially did nothing. "So you planned on doing something like this from the start!"

That monster allowed him to add another Ninja monster from his deck to his hand as soon as it is special summoned, which means that he could possibly get one that could start his turn just like Upstart Golden Ninja earlier.

And there was no way that she could let him do that. "Then I will activate Lars' effect!" She declared loudly, waving her hand outwards towards the gigantic black dragon on her side of the field.

"When you activates a card or effect, I can detach 2 materials from this card, or just one material if all this card's materials are Reptile and or Dinosaur, then target one face-up card you control, and negate its effects until the end of this turn!"

A look of surprise passed through her opponent's face, and she pointed her hand towards the card that he was just activating. "I will detach one material as all of Lars' XYZ materials are Dinosaurs, to target your Continuous Trap, Call of the Haunted, and negate its effects until the end of this turn!"

The giant winged dragon briefly halted its attack as it spread its wings, taking in one of its own overlay units to pay for its effect activation.

Evolzar Lars - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 6/Effect: 2500/1000 OV: 1

And the gigantic Fire Dragon then gathered a plume of blue fire on its claws before it threw them towards the flipped up Continuous Trap, her opponent held up both of his hands as the ball of flame crashed onto his Continuous Trap, and remained burning as it negated its effect until the end of this turn, making its effect to resummon Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo onto the field to fail.

"Didn't think that I didn't know that you had something on your sleeves did you?" She huffed proudly with a tinge of pride, quite happy at seeing that her opponent was not looking at her seriously, realising that she was a threat. "The attack continues! Lars!"

Again, the giant black dragon roared, raising its sharp claws as it flew and threw an attack towards the twin blade wielding ninja once more.

"Don't get ahead of yourself girl! I shall activate the effect of Aqua Armor Ninja in my graveyard!" He declared with a shout. "When an opponent's monster declares an attack, Aqua Armor Ninja can banish itself from the graveyard in order to negate that attack!"

With a splash the blue coloured warrior then arrived onto the field, his hands moving faster than her eyes could see as he then shot a torrent of water towards her draconic monster. Negating its attack and protecting his monster.

"Ugh. Since Lars can only negate the effect of face-up cards on the field there isn't anything that I could do." She grumbled, the black dragon returning to her side with its one remaining overlay unit still orbiting around the monster.

Checking the other four cards in her hand and finding that she couldn't do anything else, she proceeded to pass her turn. "Then I will end my turn." She said, ending her turn with one material remaining on her XYZ Monster, a set card that Lios set earlier on her combo line, and four cards remaining in her hand.

And with the turn ending, the blue flames that surrounded her opponent's Continuous Trap faded, its effects no longer negated and it now stayed on the field. Though the card does nothing on the field.

"Then I shall began my turn. I draw!" Kaze declared, placing his hand on his duel disk and drawing a card from the top of his deck, beginning his turn with two cards.

"On the Draw Phase, I'll activate the Trap, Evo-Singularity!" She shouted aloud, raising her right hand upwards and flipping the Trap Card that was set with Lios' effect face-up, and its holographic projection shone brightly in front of her.

"This card lets me target one 'Evoltile' and one 'Evolsaur' monster in my graveyard, special summon one 'Evolzar' XYZ Monster from my Extra Deck, and if I do, I attach those two monsters to it as XYZ Materials!" She explained the trap card's effect, and took the two cards that fit the criteria from her graveyard.

"I will target Evoltile Megachirella and Evolsaur Terias in my graveyard! And I'll special summon from my Extra Deck, Evolzar Dolkka!" She brought her hand down as the Trap Card shone brighter, this time with a glowing red glow as flames began to appear, and from it another dragonic monster then appeared, its white wings spread wide as it roared and floated slightly above the ground next to its larger darker counterpart.

Evolzar Dolkka - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2300/1700 OV: 0

"And then I will attach both Evoltile Megachirella and Evolsaur Terias from my graveyard to Dolkka!" She continued as she pushed her hand forwards, and both reptile and dinosaur briefly appeared onto the field beside the giant dragon, before turning into shining bright red orbs that flew around and orbited the XYZ Monster.

Evolzar Dolkka - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2300/1700 OV: 2

"Tch, another one!" Her opponent clicked his tongue in annoyance and narrowed his eyes, showing hints of emotion that was hidden from the start of the duel before schooling his features. "But it is of no matter!" He shouted aloud full of confidence.

"I shall normal summon a second Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo!" He declared loudly, performing another hand sign before placing the card onto his duel disk, and the monster in question then appeared onto the field with a puff of smoke and letting out its battle cry.

Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo - Dark/Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 1800/1000

"Then Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo's effect shall activate!" He declared as his hand waved forwards, forming another one of those hand signs whose meaning she doesn't understand. "When Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo is normal summoned, I can add one 'Ninjitsu Art' card from my deck to my hand!"

"So it has a different effect if it's normal or special summoned!?" She said with a hint of amazement, she hadn't seen a monster that had a different effect whether they're normal or special summoned before. Most of the cards that they all have does either one or just both of them after all.

"But that won't work!" She declared, waving her arm towards the white dragon before her. "Because I will activate Dolkka's effect! When another monster's effect is activated, as a Quick Effect, I can detach one material from this card to negate the activation, and destroy that monster!"

The white dragonic XYZ Monster roared as it took one of its overlay units, using it to pay for its effect activation.

Evolzar Dolkka - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2300/1700 OV: 1

Then flames gathered and slipped out from its sharp fangs, and a torrent of burning flames was shot towards the dark clad ninja to negate its effect and destroy it.

"Kh! Then I shall activate the effect of my own card, The Continuous Trap, Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing, and activate its effect!" The black and purple clad ninja declared loudly, flipping the set card that he had set directly from the deck through the effect of Ninjitsu Art Notebook two turns prior.

"Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing allows me to tribute one 'Ninja' monster to target one monster that you control, and banish that target! And locking you of the zone that the monster was in!" The man declared, explaining the effects of his Continuous Trap, and waving his hand forwards again.

"I shall tribute Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo, to target and banish that XYZ Monster of yours!" So he declared, and the grandmaster disappeared from the field with Kaze pointing towards Lars, intending or either removing it or forcing her to activate its effects.

She groaned, an additional perk that the Rank 6 monsters that she currently has was that they have an additional effect while they have XYZ Materials, like how Solda can't be destroyed by card effects, and in this scenario, Lars' inability to be targeted by her opponent's card effects.

Or more specifically, her opponent's monster effects. Meaning that it bypasses that protection completely. If she allows this Continuous Trap's effect to resolve, then she'll lose her XYZ Monster and its material.

So she did what she had to do. "I'll chain Lars' effect! I'll detach its last material to negate the effect of Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing until the end of the turn!" She declared loudly, and the black dragon complied as it chomped on its last material.

Evolzar Lars - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 6/Effect: 2500/1000 OV: 0

And with Kaze having no further cards other cards to play of his own, the chain resolves backwards as it does. The black dragon firing a ball of blue flames towards the recently activated Continuous Trap Card and negating its effect for the turn, and in turn its effects failed to resolve.

Next was of course Dolkka's effect in response to Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo's normal summon effect, and though the monster no longer remained on the field as it was tributed as cost for the effect activation of Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing, unlike Lars who can only negate face-up cards on the field, Dolkka negates monster effects from anywhere, Hanzo's effect was then negated, with none of Kaze's effects on the chain managing to resolve their effects.

"How impudent!" The black and blue haired ninja growled, seething as both of his effects did nothing, along with having used his normal summon for the turn. "Do not get cocky girl! I activate the Spell, Magic Planter!"

With a swift move, he placed the Spell card on his duel blade, and the card's holographic projection appeared and shone. "This Spell allows me to send one face-up Continuous Trap that I control to the graveyard to draw two cards!"

Kaze then pushed his right hand forwards, towards one of the cards on his spell and trap zone. "I shall send the Continuous Trap, Call of the Haunted to the graveyard, to draw two cards!"

And he does just that, after all with her having used both of Lars' materials and Dolkka being only able to negate monster effects, she could only watch as her opponent sent the useless Continuous Trap and drew two new cards from his deck.

Then grinned. "I shall activate another Spell! Armor Ninjitsu Art of Revival!" he shouted aloud, activating one of the two cards that he had just drawn. "Armor Ninjitsu Art of Revival allows me to target one 'Ninja' monster in my graveyard, and special summon that target! Be reborn! Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo!"

The spell resolved, and once more the black clad ninja appeared onto the field, the puff of smoke that signalled his entrance disappearing.

Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo - Dark/Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 1800/1000

"And once more Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo's effect activates! As it is special summoned, I can add one 'Ninja' monster other than itself from my deck into my hand!" Kaze declared, this time activating the monster's effect upon its special summon.

"Kuh, Dolkka's effect! I'll negate Hanzo's effect and destroy it!" She declared loudly in response, and the bipedal white dragon absorbed its last overlay material to activate its effects once more on the same turn.

Evolzar Dolkka - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2300/1700 OV: 0

And Dolkka then fired its breath once more, this time incinerating the black clad ninja as it negated its effects and destroying it, leaving Kaze with his XYZ Monster as the last remaining monster once again.

"Kukuku, so it seems that all of your monsters have used up their effects." The black and light blue haired ninja facing her grinned ominously, and she frowned as she assessed the field once more.

"So?" She asked. "Even if they can't activate their effects, their attacks are still higher than your monster!" She said, and both bipedal black and white dragons on her field let out their respective roars.

"But that is only for now, girl! For I activate the Equip Spell, Fuhma Shuriken!" He said loudly, revealing the last card that he had drawn from Magic Planter, and placing it onto the field. "Fuhma Shuriken can only be equipped to a 'Ninja' monster, and it allows that monster to gain 700 points of attack!"

And with a grin, the self appointed grandmaster waved his hand towards the one monster on his side of the field. "And I shall equip Blade Armor Ninja with it! Granting it an additional 700 points of attack!"

And in the armored warrior's hand appeared a pair of giant four bladed shurikens. The armored ninja took it in his hands and deftly spun it, before stopping it as he took it as his main weapon, the XYZ Monster's attack points rising by 700 points.

Blade Armor Ninja - Wind/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 4/Effect: 2900/1000 OV: 1

"Then Blade Armor Ninja's effect!" He declared. "I will detach its last material, to target itself and allow it to attack twice this turn!" And the armored warrior then spun its newly acquired weapon, slicing through its one remaining overlay material as its effects then activated, allowing itself to attack twice this turn.

Blade Armor Ninja - Wind/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 4/Effect: 2900/1000 OV: 0

"Battle!" The black and purple clad ninja declared with a wave of his hand. "Blade Armor Ninja shall attack your Evolzar Lars!" And the armored warrior obeyed its summoner's command, brandishing its weapon before disappearing from sight.

And then appearing right beside her black dragonic XYZ Monster, dealing multiple slashes with its Fuhma Shurikens, and Lars let out a cry of pain as it exploded. "Kya!" She shrieked as she winced and held her hands in front of her, protecting herself from the resolving clash of solid holograms.

Myu: 3600 LP

"And Blade Armor Ninja shall attack once again! It shall slice down your Evolzar Dolkka!" And the armored XYZ Monster leapt back towards its master's side gracefully, once again flashing with incredible speeds before appearing before the white XYZ Monster.

Then threw the gigantic shurikens, the thrown weapons cleaving the dragonic XYZ Monster in half and exploding. "Kuh!" She winced as sparks danced across her duel disk, the titular chime of her Life Points being reduced ringing on her ears.

Myu: 3100 LP

"Then I shall end my turn." Her opponent said with closed eyes, ending his turn having cleared her board, though also emptying what resources he had. His field being that of an XYZ Monster without overlay materials that was equipped with an equip cards, two face-up cards on his spell and trap zone, and no cards left in his hand.

"Then it's my turn!" She shouted, placing her hand over her deck as she began her turn. "I'll draw!" And drew her card for turn, starting off with five cards on her hand to start off her second turn of the game.

Briefly browsing through the cards that she had, a plan began to form, and she nodded her head as she decided on her next few moves, that of course being trying to destroy the XYZ Monster and its Equip Spell that it had.

Or uh, that but backwards because she didn't really have anything that removes monsters from the field. Her deck was built to prevent her opponent from making plays, or at least that's how Yuuna described her deck as, not interacting with what her opponent does and stopping them in their tracks before they do so.

And with her limited pool of XYZ Monsters, "I will start by normal summoning Evoltile Pholis!" She declared aloud, placing the card onto her duel blade, and the alligator-like reptile then materialised before her, letting out a shriek as it spread its small wings as wide as it can, slamming its tail to the ground as it appeared onto the field.

Evoltile Pholis - Fire/Reptile/Level 2/Effect: 900/300

"And then I will activate its effect!" She declared aloud as she waved towards the monster she had summoned. "If this card is normal or special summoned, I can special summon one 'Evoltile' monster from my hand or graveyard in face-down defence position!" She said, explaining the monster's on summon effect and revealing a card in her hand.

"I will special summon Evoltile Najasho from my hand in defence position!" And she then placed the monster card onto her duel blade, the small winged snake-like reptile briefly flashing and hissing at her opponent before being flipping face-down, resting on her side of the field beside Pholis.

"Then Pholis' other effect!" She declared again, waving towards the reptile in question. "During my main phase, I can set one 'Evo-Force' or 'Evo-Instant' directly from my deck!"

And her opponent narrowed his eyes at the effect's description. "A card that sets directly to the field again. So they have some similarities with one another then." The ninja murmured, finding similarities between Pholis' and Lios' effects.

Well, Yuuna did mention that they are the more 'recent' additions to their 'archetype', whatever those words would mean, and said that they were 'stronger'. Spirit shenanigans she was sure, at least that's what the older girl had said.

She shook her head as she took out a card from her deck, revealing the card that she was going to set directly onto her field with Pholis' third effect. "I will set the Spell, Evo-Force, directly to my field!"

Then the spell card briefly appeared on her field, before being set face-down onto her spell and trap zone. "And I will activate it!" And then immediately being flipped face-up, ithe card's holographic projection shining as it was activated on the field.

"Evo-Force lets me tribute one 'Evoltile' monster to special summon one 'Evolsaur' monster from my deck, and it's treated as if it was special summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster!" She said, explaining the Spell card's effect.

And waved her hand forwards to reveal what monster she would tribute for cost to activate its effects. "I will tribute the face-down Evoltile Najasho, to special summon directly from my deck a second Evolsaur Lios!"

With the effect resolving, a card appeared from her deck slot, and she took it to reveal the second copy of the winged Dinosaur monster, and she placed it on her duel disk for the monster to materialise on her field with a roar as it arrived in attack position.

Evolsaur Lios - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1600/400

"Then I will trigger the effect of Evoltile Najasho! And chain the effect of Evolsaur Lios!" She declared aloud, chaining the effect of both of her monsters. "With Lios' on summon effect, this time I'll set an Evolutionary Bridge directly from my deck!"

And she did just that, placing the Trap Card directly from her deck onto the field. It's holographic projection briefly being flipped face-up to be revealed to her opponent before returning to being set face-down.

"And then Najasho's effect!" She continued resolving the two card chain, going to resolve the effect of the reptile monster that was now in her graveyard. "If Evoltile Najasho on the field is tributed, I can special summon one 'Evolsaur' monster from my deck!"

With a quick glance and a press of a button on her duel disk's screen, once again a card appeared from her deck slot, and she revealed her target to her opponent. "I will special summon Evolsaur Diplo straight from my deck in attack positon!"

The dinosaur monster then made its way onto the field with a flash of light, appearing with a roar as it arched its long neck down to glare at its opponent, slamming its large tail down to intimidate the giant shuriken wielding warrior.

Evolsaur Diplo - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1600/400

"And then Diplo's effect activates!" She declared again, this time with a smile as her plan was coming to fruition. "When this card is special summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster, I target one Spell or Trap Card that you control, and destroy it!"

Then she raised and brought her hand down, pointing towards the one card that was currently finding use on her opponent's spell and trap zone. "I will destroy your Fuhma Shuriken!" She shouted, and the long necked dinosaur complied to her orders, slamming its large head down towards the bladed weapons destroying it.

And with its weapons now gone, the armored ninja's offensive prowess lessened, its attack points returning back to what it originally was, an attack number that was more manageable for her.

Blade Armor Ninja - Wind/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 4/Effect: 2200/1000 OV: 0

"Tch! Then the effect of Fuhma Shuriken shall activate!" Kaze declared with a click of his tongue, his right hand forming another hand seal as he waved his hand outwards. "When it is sent from the field into the graveyard, Fuhma Shuriken will inflict 700 damage to my opponent!"

And in front of her opponent a small dark void-like hole appeared, and from it shot a pair of small shurikens aimed towards her, going past through her wall of monsters and hitting her directly. "Kya!"

Myu: 2400 LP

"Kuh! But that's fine!" She said, waving her arms out as she focused back onto the game from that hiccup that she hadn't expected, intending to continue with her line of combo, which was essentially a replay of her first turn. "I'll activate Evolsaur Lios-"

And received a small error message on her duel disk.

"Wha-!?" She yelped with a slight jolt as she stared at the duel disk on her hand, reading the small pop up as her eyes went wide. It was a relatively small pop up that lit up on her duel disk's screen, listing the reason for the error.

It was essentially a small misplay on her part, showing that it couldn't activate the effect that she wanted to activate as its condition wasn't met. "Condition not met…? What do-?" And her eyes went wide as she hurriedly re-read the card text for Lios.

"Kukuku, it seems that you're having some trouble there, girl." Her opponent mocked, a smug smirk over his face as he stared at her panicking self.

"Gunununu, it's fine!" She shouted aloud with gritted teeth. It was a set back for sure, she wanted to send an Evoltile Westlo from her deck to the graveyard and chose not to modulate her monster's Levels, essentially Foolish Burial-ing a monster that was going to be the target for her Evolutionary Bridge that she had just set, essentially getting a battle protection for her XYZ Monster all while also plusing in the process.

But the second effect of Lios, the one that does exactly that, needed her to have it either be normal summoned, or special summoned by the effect of a Fire Monster, something that it was not as it was special summoned by the effect of Evo-Force unlike Diplo beside it.

"I mixed the both of them up-!" She muttered to herself in frustration, and grit her teeth to continue with her turn regardless of the confidence that her opponent seemed to have gained at seeing her mess up her combo.

She raised her hand high and shouted. "I will take the Level 4 Evolsaur Lios and the Level 4 Evolsaur Diplo, and overlay them!" And the two dinosaurs roared as they glowed and became red pillars of light.

And once again, a vortex of black and gold appeared between her and her opponent. "With these two monsters, I will create an overlay network! XYZ Summon!" And the two pillars of light flew and crossed one another before falling into the vortex, creating a bright explosion of light.

"Evolve! Evolzar Laggia!" And she brought her hand down and the explosion of light subsided, from it came her third XYZ Monster of the game, one that was properly summoned at that, and the white six winged dragon then let out its roar as spirals of flames erupted from it, the monster floated down slowly in front of her as it readied itself to face her opponent.

Evolzar Laggia - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 2

"And battle!" She declared once more, waving her right hand forwards towards her monsters. "I will attack your Blade Armored Ninja with Evolzar Laggia!" And with that, the two XYZ Monster clashed.

With its Equip Spell being destroyed, the armored ninja returned to its original weapons of dual katanas, and leapt towards her XYZ Monster, who readied itself for the clash as it spread its wings wide, gathering a spiral of fire around itself.

And that spiral of fire grew strong enough to repel the armored ninja's twin blades, leaving it wide open for a strike from the six winged white dragon, a direct breath of fire being shot with zero distance immediately incinerating the armoured XYZ Monster.

"Kh!" Her opponent grunted as he received the small amount of residue damage from the clash, but kept his ground as he sent a glare her way.

Kaze Yamikawa: 3800 LP

"And then I'll attack directly with Evoltile Philos!" She shouted, and the small alligator-like monster shrieked and rushed towards her opponent, slamming its head towards her opponent's abdomen.

"Guagh!" He recoiled, taking a step back and falling to his knees as he held his stomach, the titular chime of Life Points being reduced playing on his duel disk as the direct attack hits.

Kaze Yamikawa: 2900 LP

"You-!" Her opponent growled as he raised his head from his position to sent a withering glare towards her, one that sent a shiver down her spine before she gathered her wits and glared back.

"Then I'll set a card and end my turn!" She declared aloud, placing one card from her hand on her spell and trap zone and then ending her turn, ending with an XYZ Monster in Laggia and the monster that she had normal summoned for her turn, Philos. Along with two cards in her backrow, one being the Evolutionary Bridge that she set directly from her deck and one that she set from her hand, and two cards still remaining in her hand.

"You-insolent girl!" Her opponent roared as he stood up, his right hand still holding his abdomen as he kept his death glare towards her, an eerie feeling bubbling in her chest. "It is my turn! I draw!" he shouted, taking off a card straight from the top of his deck as he quickly regained his bearings and drew for turn.

"I shall activate the effect of Ninjitsu Art Notebook!" He declared, revealing the card he had just drawn for his turn. "I shall discard the Aqua Armor Ninja in my hand to set one 'Ninjitsu Art' directly from my deck!"

And she clicked her tongue as she could do nothing at this juncture. After all, Laggia's effect only allows her to negate summons or the activation of a Spell or Trap Card, and her opponent activating the effect of that already face-up Continuous Spell of his however falls out of that category.

Which meant that her opponent was free to do as he pleased, and he certainly did that. The black and purple clad duelist took out a card directly from the top of his deck and placed it onto the field, of course he first revealed the card that he had set directly. "I shall set directly from my deck, Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy!"

The card was then shown, its holographic projection briefly appearing before him before once again being set face-down onto the field. "And I shall activate it!" Only for it to be flipped face-up immediately, the card now shining as it was activated.

"Should I control a 'Ninjitsu Art' card, Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy allows me to destroy as many other 'Ninjitsu Art' I control as possible, then draw 2 cards!" The black and light blue haired ninja shouted, explaining the Spell card's effect.

"Another draw spell!?" She hissed, realising that she couldn't exactly let this card resolve, especially with the simplified gamestate that she had managed to get into and the amount of cards that he currently hand.

"Then I'll respond with Laggia's effect!" She shouted, pushing her hand forwards towards her XYZ Monster. "When a monster or monsters would be normal or special summoned, or a Spell or Trap card is activated, as a Quick Effect, I can detach two materials from this card to negate the summon or activation, and if I do, destroy it!"

Finished with explaining the XYZ Monster's effects, she raised her hand high towards her one XYZ Monster. "I will do just that, to negate the activation of Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy, and destroy it!"

With that command, the six winged white dragon roared, its wings flapping and spreading wide as a spiral of fire appeared around it, taking the two orbiting red orbs that was around it as it activated its effects.

Evolzar Laggia - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 0

Then the chain resolves, the spiral of fire around Laggia gathering and shooting towards the activated Spell Card, crashing and negating its activation, before it then destroys it. Sending it to the graveyard.

"Tch! So it negates as well!" Kaze clicked his tongue as his glare shifted towards her XYZ Monster, before a small smirk formed on his face. "But no matter! Without any overlay materials on it, that monster is useless! I will end my turn!"

Then chooses to pass his turn as he has no other cards to play, ending his turn with no monsters on his field and to face-up cards on his spell and trap zone, no cards left remaining in his hand.

"Then it's my turn! I draw!" She shouted, taking the top card of her deck and drawing it for turn, getting back to three cards in hand to start off her turn. And immediately frowning at the card that she had just drawn.

She really only played two cards like this in her deck. Two 'bricks' or 'Garnets' as Yuuna described them, cards that she doesn't want to draw. Those being the two Level 6 Evolsaur monsters, a copy each of Terias and Elias, both targets that she would send to the graveyard for the effect of Lios' Level modulating effect.

And it certainly is annoying to have drawn them, since it meant that it was a draw that she couldn't really use, and she now couldn't properly summon the last remaining XYZ Monster in her Extra Deck, or at all. She really should have ran more than a single copy of Evo-Singularity.

That and drawing Elias is far worse than drawing Terias. The latter would've at least been a decent monster to tribute summon. Elias is just a relatively large defensive card, something that she doesn't really need in her current situation.

"I'll activate the effect of Evoltile Philos!" She declared aloud, waving her hand towards the alligator-like reptile monster. "I'll set another copy of Evo-Force from my deck to my field!" She declared, placing the Spell Card directly from her deck into her field.

"And I'll activate it!" She shouted, flipping the Spell Card face-up and activating its effect. "I'll tribute one 'Evoltile' monster to special summon one 'Evolsaur' monster from my deck and treat it as if it was special summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster!" Sge declared, once more explaining the Spell Card's effect.

"I will tribute Evoltile Pholis, to special summon the third copy of Evolsaur Lios!" So she said, taking and immediately placing the card straight from her deck onto her duel blade, the small alligator-like reptile being tributed and turning into motes of light as the winged blue dinosaur appeared onto the field, the last copy of Evolsaur Lios getting onto the field.

Evolsaur Lios - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1600/400

"And then I'll activate Lios' effect!" She declared aloud, activating the monster's effect. "Since it was special summoned, I will set a second Evolutionary Bridge!" So she said, placing the second copy of the battle trap from her deck directly to her field, still chiding herself for not running multiples of the other Trap Card that it could've set.

"Battle!" And then immediately moving towards the Battle Phase, knowing that she sadly wouldn't be able to deal lethal damage to her opponent with the monsters that she had on field, due to the draw that he had on his previous turn being Aqua Armor Ninja that could negate one of her attacks.

"I will attack you directly with Evolzar Laggia!" She shouted as she waved her right hand forwards, the six winged dragon roaring as it gathered up its power once more, spirals of flames spinning around it.

"Hmph! Then I shall activate the graveyard effect of Aqua Armor Ninja!" Her black and purple clad opponent countered, moving his hand into another of those hand seals. "I shall banish it from my graveyard in order to negate that attack!"

With the card then being banished, its effects proceeded to activate. The blue armoured ninja appeared on the field for the second time as it shot a torrent of water, neutralising Laggia's attack.

"Then I'll attack directly with Lios!" She said, sending her second monster to attack directly, and the winged dinosaur complied to her order with a roar.

"Kuh!" Her opponent grunted as he withstood the attack of the blue scaled dinosaur, his Life Points going down as the direct attack landed.

Kaze Yamikawa: 1300 LP

"Hmm…" She grumbled as she saw her opponent's Life Points reducing, but nowhere close to closing the game. If she had gotten an actual normal summon then she could've done it, but considering the cards in her hand…

"I will set a monster face-down." She said as she moved towards her Main Phase 2, and setting one of the cards on her hand face-down on her monster zone. "And I will end my turn."

Then proceeded to pass with a field of an XYZ Monster without materials and a monster whose on field she couldn't even activate, and two of the same trap cards on her spell and trap zone, and two cards left in her hand, one of them being an unplayable unknown to her opponent.

"Khh! There shall be no way that I will lose!" Her opponent growled, and the feeling of unease that was in her chest grew stronger, and she unconsciously took a step away from her opponent.

The self proclaimed grandmaster kept his glare on her as he placed his hand on top of his duel disk. "My turn! I shall draw!" He roared as a she saw something flare from his hand, and he started his turn with one card in his hand.

"I will activate the Spell, Magic Planter!" He shouted, revealing and immediately activating the card that he had drawn, that being the second copy of the draw spell that he had used several turns prior. "I shall send Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing in order to draw 2 cards!"

"That draw spell again!?" She gulped with wide eyes, then clicked her tongue with annoyance at the stroke of luck her opponent has been having the past few turns. "So he didn't only draw the one that card would let him survive and access his engine, but the next draw after that was also a draw spell?!"

With her Laggia not having any materials to negate the Spell Card's activation, Magic Planter then resolved having already sent the Continuous trap in question earlier for cost, and allowing Kaze to draw two cards.

And the man then grinned as he saw the cards that he had drawn. "As you control a monster and I do not, I can special summon Earth Armor Ninja from my hand!" Placing the monster card on his duel blade, the brown and yellow armoured ninja then appeared from the ground below, poised to protect its master as it readied its weapon in attack position.

Earth Armor Ninja - Earth/Warrior/Level 5/Effect: 1600/1200

"Then I shall normal summon Fire Armor Ninja from my hand!" And continuing by playing the other card that he had drawn from the top of his deck. With a burst of flames, the red armoured warrior made it onto the field right beside its earth counterpart.

Fire Armor Ninja - Fire/Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 1700/1000

"Two monsters!" She growled as she saw her opponent played the two cards that they had drawn, and noticed their Level difference. "But he wouldn't play them without reason, if anything he would've summoned Earth Armor Ninja in defence if he wanted to play defensively. Which means-"

"Flame Armor Ninja shall activate his effect!" Her black and light blue haired opponent declared, his grin morphing into a crazed smile. "When this card is summoned, I can target one 'Ninja' monster that I control and increase its Level by one!"

"So he's going for an XYZ Summon!" She shouted, deducing on what he's going to do next, which only seemed to make her opponent smile even wider.

"I shall raise Fire Armor Ninja's Level, and make it the same as Earth Armor Ninja!" Her opponent shouted as loud as he could, and the red clad ninja then glowed as his Level was raised by one, making it the same as its earthen counterpart.

Fire Armor Ninja - Fire/Warrior/Level 5/Effect: 1700/1000

"Behold, girl! I will devour both your light and your hope!" He then shouted, moving his right hand forward towards the two monsters that stood on his side of the field. "I shall overlay the Level 5 Earth Armor Ninja, along with the Level 5 Fire Armor Ninja!"

And the two warriors of the shadows then let out their war cry as they turned into brown and red pillars of light, and in front of her opponent a large black and golden vortex manifested. "I shall once more, construct an overlay network with these two monsters, XYZ Summon!"

The two pillars of light then entered the galactical vortex, and created an explosion of light, far greater than any previous XYZ Summons had made in this duel. "Appear! Number 12!" Kaze shouted, his now shining right hand outwards reaching towards the sky as his left kept steady with the duel disk attached to it.

And came a gigantic crimson fuma shuriken, one that spun slowly as it seemed to morph in its entirety, its form extending and changing to take form of a gigantic red clad warrior, a burning crimson mane flowing from the monster's head.

"Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja!" And said monster then brandished its blade, holding it in a reverse grip as two brown orbs orbited around the newly summoned XYZ Monster, the number '12' on the left side of its chest shining, just as it does on the back of her opponent's hand.

Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja - Earth/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 5/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 2

And she was immediately on guard, a bead of sweat pouring from the side of her face as she faced the monster that her opponent had summoned. "Number 12…" She muttered, noting the number that the monster represented, and wondered what effect that it even had.

"Battle!" Only for her opponent to not even bother activating it as he went immediately to the Battle Phase, waving his right hand outwards with a maniacal grin. "I shal attack your Evolzar Laggia with Crimson Armor Ninja! Moon Shadow Crimson Slice!"

And the crimson armoured XYZ Monster brandished its blade, leaping towards her own XYZ Monster in order to cut it down. Though its attack points was the same as Laggia, she knew that it would survive the battle, the Number's Clause protecting it from being destroyed by battle other than with Number monsters.

"Then I'll activate my Trap, Evolutionary Bridge!" She shouted, flipping up one of the two Trap Cards that she had set on her side of the field. "When a monster that I controlled is targeted for an attack, I can target one 'Evoltile' monster in my graveyard, special summon that target, then switch the attack target to that monster and conduct damage calculation!"

And proceeded to take out a card from her graveyard that she would summon and switch as the target for the battle. "I will special summon from my graveyard Evoltile Pholis in defence position!"

With that the winged alligator once more returned onto the field, summoned in defence position to take the hit for her XYZ Monster, letting out a shriek as it was summoned onto the field.

Evoltile Pholis - Fire/Reptile/Level 2/Effect: 900/300

The burning crimson blade that was supposed to meet the six winged dragon then switched its target towards the newly summoned alligator, immediately going to the damage calculation without allowing her opponent to respond.

"Then Pholis' effect!" She shouted, waving her hand outwards. "If a monster that I control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, I can tribute one Reptile or Dinosaur monster that I control instead!"

Explaining the monster's first continuous effect, she then pointed towards the face-down monster that she had summoned in her previous turn. "I will tribute the face-down Evoltile Najasho to prevent Evoltile Pholis from being destroyed by battle!"

With that the monster was then tributed, turning into a red mist that enveloped the winged Pholis, and protecting it from being cut down by Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja's blade.

"Tch." Her opponent clicked his tongue as his XYZ Monster leapt back to his side, standing imposingly against the many monsters on her field.

But this wasn't the end of the Battle Phase. "Then the effect of Evoltile Pholis, and Evoltile Najasho in my graveyard!" She declared, chaining and activating the effects of the two monsters.

"Since Evoltile Najasho was tributed, I can special summon one 'Evolsaur', monster from my deck! I will special summon Evolsaur Cerato from my deck in attack position!" She declared, and summoned the bipedal dinosaur onto her field, the monster in question roaring as it made its way to the field.

Evolsaur Cerato - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1900/1400

"And then since Evoltile Pholis is special summoned, I can special summon one 'Evoltile' monster from my hand or graveyard in face-down defence position!" She declared, activating the monster's on summon effect and choosing its target.

Revealing the monster card to her opponent she spoke, "I will special summon one of the two Evoltile Najasho in my graveyard and special summon it in face-down defence position!" And the monster then briefly appeared on her field, hissing towards her opponent before being flipped face-down, filling the last spot of her monster zone.

"Then as Cerato is special summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster, it gains 200 points of attack." She said, declaring the mandatory effect of her recently summoned monster as it glowed a bright red, its attack increasing by 200 points.

Evolsaur Cerato - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 2100/1400

"Tch! There's even more-!" Her opponent growled, eyes becoming slits as he glared towards her. "I shall end my turn here! Know that there is no way for you to defeat me and my Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja!" He boldly declared, and the monster in question yelled its battle cry as he ended his turn, a single card face-up on his spell and trap zone and no cards remaining in his hand.

"Then it's my turn once more! I'll draw!" She declared, drawing a card for the start of her turn, and beginning with three cards in hand. Seeing the cards in her hand, she began racking her brain, thinking of a way to defeat the Number monster before her with the cards in her hand.

She didn't even know its effects, which was a problem on its own, but she would no doubt find it soon enough.

Though she possibly found one way to defeat it with the cards that she had, it was hampered by her not meeting the conditions. She clicked her tongue as she perused her graveyard, in search of something that she might have forgotten.

And found something she did. Her hand hovering over her duel disk's screen as she hastily read the card's effect description, finding it perfect for the situation she was in, and the cards that she had in her hand.

Then silently cursed herself for not having read it earlier, knowing that if she had then she wouldn't even be in this situation in the first place.

"I will activate the effect of Evoltile Megachirella in my graveyard!" She shouted, waving her hand forwards as she activated the monster's graveyard effect. "I can banish Evoltile Megachirella from my graveyard, to target one Dragon XYZ Monster that I control with no material, and attach up to two Reptile and or Dinosaur monsters with different names from my hand and or graveyard ro that monster as material!"

Then she revealed the cards that she would attach, one being from her graveyard and the other in her hand. "I will target Evolzar Laggia, and attach the second Evoltile Najasho in my graveyard, and the Evolsaur Elias from my hand!"

With her opponent keeping silent and not chaining any effects of his own, the monster's graveyard effect resolves, and the two cards turned into glowing red glows that surrounded her six winged XYZ Monster, and two glowing red orbs began orbiting it once more.

Evolzar Laggia - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 2

If she hadn't forgotten this effect of Megachirella a turn earlier, then she would have already walked away from this duel, especially since this current board state all started because he activated a draw spell of all things. But she would scold herself about that later, she needed to continue with her turn.

Though as much as she wants to keep those materials on her XYZ Monster to have its effect to negate summons, spells and traps active, she has to sacrifice it for something else. "From my hand, I will activate the Spell, Generation Force!" She shouted aloud, placing the Spell Card on her duel blade and having its holographic projection shining in front of her.

"If I control an XYZ Monster, I can add one 'XYZ' card from my deck to my hand!" She declared, explained the Spell Card's simple effect and quickly scrolling through her duel disk's screen to confirm what she had read.

"I will add the Spell, XYZ Energy from my deck to my hand!" She said as she revealed the Spell in question, adding it and shuffling her hand. "And I will activate it!" Then immediately activating the card in question.

"XYZ Energy allows me to detach one XYZ Material that I control to target one face-up monster that my opponent controls, and destroy it!" She declared, explaining the Spell Card's effect as she waved her hand forwards.

"I will detach one material from Evolzar Laggia, to target and destroy your Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja!" She said, and the six winged dragon flapped its wings as one of the red orbs that orbited it was absorbed into the holographic projection of the Spell Card.

Evolzar Laggia - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 1

"Then I shall activate the effect of Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja!" Her opponent shouted in response, clapping his palms together and forming another of his hand seals. "Once per turn, during either player's turn, I can detach one XYZ material from this card; this turn, face-up 'Ninja' monsters that I control cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects!"

"That's-!"

Finished with explaining its effects, the crimson armoured warrior then raised its blade, slicing one of the two materials that orbited it, granting it protection from effect destruction and even added more battle protection than the one that it already had.

Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja - Earth/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 5/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 1

With that the chain continued to resolve, the Spell Card that had taken her XYZ Monster's material shooting a bolt of energy towards Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja, only for a glowing red aura to emit from the monster, protecting it from the Spell Card's effect.

"Kuh-!" She grunted, seeing that her plan failed, having not managed to destroy the Number XYZ Monster before her and taking Laggia's ability to activate its effect.

"Whatever action you take is futile!" Her opponent roared with a wide grin. "Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja is invincible! There is no way that you can defeat my Number Monster!" He boldly declared, assured of his own victory now that he had his signature XYZ Monster on his field

She ignored him, thinking back on the plays that she had done. It wasn't for nothing, and her opponent's monster was certainly not invincible as he declared. Since she now knows what her opponent's monster does exactly, and knowing that, she could plan around it. Find a way to defeat it.

It used one of its materials to give all 'Ninja' monsters immunity to destruction, be it effect or battle, but it can only be used once more. She was sure that she has other ways to force it to use its effect, or if she were to chain two in the same chain-

With a plan slowly forming in her mind, she had no choice but to board up and stand defensively, knowing full well that with the cards she currently has, she had no way of outing the monster in front of her much to her chagrin.

"I will switch Evolsaur Lios, Evolsaur Cerato, and Evolzar Laggia to defence position." She said, changing all three cards sideways as their holographic counterparts moved in suit and changing into a defensive formation. "And I will end my turn."

Then proceeded to pass her turn over to her opponent, ending with a board filled with monsters in defence position, a singular Trap Card set in her spell and trap zone, and two cards still remaining in her hand, a plan in her mind to destroy her opponent's problematic monster.

"Kukuku, it seems there truly is nothing you can do but tremble in fear, girl! I shall begin my turn! I draw!" Kaze said, his confidence growing stronger as he saw her play defensively and drew a card for turn, starting his turn with one card now in hand.

"Battle!" And then immediately moving onto the Battle Phase without any sort of hesitation. "I shall attack your Evolzar Laggia with Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja! Moon Shadow Crimson Slice!" And the armoured warrior prepared its strike once more.

"Evoltile Pholis' effect!" She declared as the two XYZ monsters came close enough, the blade wielding armoured warrior hefting its weapon as the six winged dragon attempted to protect itself with its wings. "I'll prevent Laggia from being destroyed by tributing one Reptile or Dinosaur monster that I control!"

She thought, for a brief second, on what exactly she should tribute for her plan to work, and made her decision. "I will tribute Evolsaur Cerato to protect Evolzar Laggia!" She declared, and the orange dinosaur then disappeared into red clusters of light that surrounded her XYZ Monster, protecting it from the blade of the crimson armoured warrior.

"Hmph." Her opponent scoffed, but a hint of a smirk could still be seen from his face. "No matter. Whatever monsters you summon in defence position will be no match for my Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja! I shall set one card, and end my turn!" Then with that proceeded to end his turn. His board now has an additional card in spell and trap zone.

"Then it's my turn again! I draw!" She shouted, taking the card from the top of her deck and placing it in her hand. And she couldn't help but grin. Her plan was coming together, now all that she needed to do was to simply execute it.

"I will normal summon a second Evolsaur Megachirella!" Placing the monster card on her one free monster zone, and the second copy of the winged reptile monster made it onto the field with a loud shriek.

Evoltile Megachirella - Fire/Reptile/Level 1/Effect: 0/0

"And I will immediately activate Megachirella's effect!" She shouted aloud as she swiped her hand towards her one monster.

"Megachirella lets me tribute one Reptile monster, then discard one card, to special summon one Level six or lower Fire Dinosaur monster from my deck!" She said, once again explaining the monster's on effect on field.

"I will tribute Megachirella, and discard from my hand the Trap, Survival's End!" She said, paying the cost, and seeing as her opponent did not respond with that set card of his, the effect resolved.

"I will special summon a second Evolsaur Cerato!" She declared aloud, summoning a second copy of the orange dinosaur straight from her deck in attack position, the monster roaring as it hit the field.

Evolsaur Cerato - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 1900/1400

"Then Cerato's effect! It gains 200 additional attack from being summoned by an Evoltile monster!" She declared as she waved her hand forwards, the monster glowing with a red glow as its attack rose.

Evolsaur Cerato - Fire/Dinosaur/Level 4/Effect: 2100/1400

"Hmph, did you perhaps lose your mind, girl?" Her opponent said with a mocking smile as he gestured towards his XYZ Monster who stood menacingly ahead of him. "No matter what monster you summon, Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects! There is simply nothing you can do against it!"

"I wonder about that." She muttered, snapping back against him as she glared back in defiance, before proceeding to play the other cards in her hand. "I will activate a second Generation Force!"

Placing the card on her duel blade and making its holographic projection appear on the field, she proceeded to forgo the explanation for the Spell that she had just activated a turn ago. "And with its effect I will add a second XYZ Energy!"

Revealing the card that she added, she proceeded to shuffle her hand, and immediately continued with her line of play as she placed the card once again on her duel blade. "And I will activate it! Detaching one material from Evolzar Laggia to target and destroy your Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja!"

The newly activated Spell Card then shone, taking the last remaining XYZ Material from the dragonic monster and using it in order to destroy her opponent's Ace Monster.

Evolzar Laggia - Fire/XYZ/Dragon/Rank 4/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 0

"Foolish girl! Did you learn nothing from the turn prior!" Kaze roared as he waved his hand outwards. "I shall activate the effect of Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja! Detaching one material to grant all 'Ninja' monsters that I control the ability to be indestructible by battle and card effects!"

With that declaration, he too, detaching the last overlay material from his XYZ Monster, the two of them creating the exact same chain of effects that they had activated on her previous turn.

Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja - Earth/XYZ/Warrior/Rank 5/Effect: 2400/1000 OV: 0

But the only difference being the one card that she had in her graveyard. "Then I'll activate the effect of Survival's End in my graveyard!" She shouted, waving her hand outwards and the holographic projection of the Trap Card briefly appeared.

"I can banish this card from my graveyard to target one monster that I control and one card that you control, and destroy them!" She shouted, explaining the Trap Card's graveyard effect and banishing it as cost.

"I will target Evolsaur Lios and Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja, and destroy them!" She declared aloud, targeting the two monsters on the field as the third card in the chain link of effects.

"What!?" Her opponent shouted with his eyes wide in shock, and the chain began to resolve backwards.

The one first to resolve was of course the last card in the chain, that being of course the Trap Card that was now in her banished zone. "Now both monsters are destroyed!" She shouted, and both the blue scaled winged dinosaur and the crimson armoured ninja were destroyed, both monsters exploding and turning into golden particles that faded into the air.

"No!" Her opponent shouted as he held up both of his hands in front of him, protecting himself from the brunt of the explosion of the solid hologram, but couldn't hold his ground, with his flying off and hitting the wall of the dojo. "Guagh!"

And as he growled and started to stand back up, the chain continued to resolve. The second card to resolve was of course the effect of Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja, then the effect of XYZ Energy which resolved without effect.

"Impossible!" Her opponent shouted as he stood on one knee, a deep scowl on his face as he glared at her.

"How can Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja be destroyed!? It should be indestructible by battle and card effects!" He shouted, rage clear in his features as he seemed to not understand what had just happened.

"That effect only applies after it resolves." She said calmly, "And since Survival's End's effect was chained to that effect, that means that Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja's effect hasn't taken effect yet!" She said, explaining the simple explanation on how chains resolves.

"Now I will switch Evolzar Laggia and my first Evolsaur Cerato to attack position." She said, switching the two monsters back to attack position, before stopping for a brief moment to remember the cards that she had, in hand, field, and also in her graveyard, and thought on what she was forgetting.

Then remembered it as soon as she surveyed the field once more, seeing the card that was set face-down in her opponent's field and remembering what she should do that she had forgotten turns prior. "Then I will activate the graveyard effect of Evoltile Megachirella once again!" She declared.

"I will banish it from my graveyard to target one Dragon XYZ Monster that I control without material and attach two Reptile and or Dinosaur monsters with different names from my hand and or graveyard!" And with a wave of her hand she does so, declaring the targets that she would attach.

"I will target Evolzar Laggia, and attach my other Evoltile Najasho and Evolsaur Lios from my graveyard!" She declared, and the glowing silhouette of the reptile and dinosaur monster briefly appeared on her side of the field, before both turned into glowing red orbs that spun around the six winged XYZ Monster.

"Battle!" She declared, waving her hand forwards towards her opponent whose field was barren of monsters. "Evolzar Laggia will attack you directly!" She shouted, and the six winged dragon complied with a roar, spreading its wings as wide as it could, intending to finish the game with this attack.

"Tch! I shall activate the Trap, Ninja Smoke Ball!" Her opponent shouted loudly as he raised his hand, flipping up the last set card that he had drawn previously. "During my opponent's Battle Phase, Ninja Smoke Ball allows me to end the Battle Phase!"

"You seriously drew into something like that!? Fine! Then I will activate Laggia's effect!" She shouted back as she waved her hand towards the six winged white dragon on her side of the field. "I will detach two materials from it, to negate that Trap Card's activation and destroy it!"

The dragonic XYZ Monster roared as flames erupted around it following the beat of its wings, devouring the two overlay materials that she had attached on it just in case and shooting forth towards the Trap Card.

And then negating its activation, the flipped up Trap Card briefly losing its colour before it cracks and broke apart in pieces, turning into glittering motes of light that briefly blinded her opponent.

As soon as he opened his eyes he was met with the large visage of Laggia, its claw arched back and ready to strike.

And strike it did.

"GUAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Her opponent screamed as the direct attack hit, reducing what Life Points that he still had left, and thanks to the mass that the solid hologram held, throwing him back several feet until he hit the wooden wall of the dojo behind him, slumping down as the titular melody of his Life Points reaching zero played throughout the room.

She let out a long sigh of relief as the adrenalin left her body, and she also slumped as soon as the duel ended. "I won!" She shouted with relief as she threw both arms into the air, then falling backwards down to the wooden floor with a large satisfied smile.

"That was… harder than I expected." She said with a huff, closing her eyes as she basked in her victory over a Numbers holder, her second victory against someone like that in fact, the first one of course being one of Shark's lackeys, who used a vague monster whom she couldn't even remember, but was sure that it was water related.

"But… it wasn't that hard." She muttered as she opened her eyes and sat herself upright, seeing her opponent still slumped on the wall, unmoving, having somehow fallen unconscious from the final blow of the duel.

"I should… probably check if he's okay." Although Yuuna did mention the backlash from an 'unstable' Numbers user being virtually harmless, other than of course the harm that they cause to themselves and others, but other than that they should be fine.

But just in case, she walked close to the unconscious duelist and saw that he really was just unconscious, other than that he was relatively fine, disregarding how he was possessed by a card spirit of all thngs. And that his deck had fallen out from his deck holder. Or more specifically, a few cards fell out as his duel disk was deactivated.

They were the few cards that he played during the duel, but the one that drew her attention the most was, of course, the XYZ Monster card that now laid on the floor.

Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja.

She… really doesn't know what she should do at this point.
