Bloodlust Returns
Kron had mixed feelings about what was happening.
He looked at the boat about to leave.
On the one hand the annoying woman that got in his way was escaping.
The Saiyan looked at the two who came out of nowhere.
One a man with a green mohawk and beard. Wearing a green chest plate and brown cape.
The other was a woman with auburn colored with a silver streak through it, with navy blue clothes and nettings.
On the other hand, these two were empowered by Soul Dust, meaning these two are as strong as Slate. As strong as Maidens.
While Cinder couldn't muster anything interesting despite being an actual Maiden, these two should be so he can't be too upset.
He eyed the boat getting away.
Still, he shouldn't just let them get away, not after the grief she's put him through.
Kron immediately fired a red Ki ball, not at the two in front of him but at the fleeting boat.
It wasn't too strong, but it should be strong enough to damage the boat enough to break the hull and maybe sink it.
Just as it was about to reach the boat, a grey glass surface appeared in front of where the blast would hit.
Kron looked confused as the grey light barrier took the blast and the Red Ki ball was sent back to him.
The Saiyan looked surprised and jumped out of the way as the blast hit the ground.
"Wasn't that" Before he could finish his thought could finish the man jumped behind him with his mace raised.
Kron immediately turned and sidestepped as the mace hit the ground creating a crack where he struck.
Bertilak turned, angry that he missed.
"Hehehe" Kron laughed and glanced at the boat. It was leaving at a good speed but he was sure that he can catch up before they got too far after dealing with these two. "Fine, I can catch up to that boat."
The Saiyan threw a punch toward Bertilak's face.
Bertilak was struck in the face and stumbled from the blow.
But Kron immediately looked at his face, irritated by something. He felt like he punched heated steel.
The green-haired man turned and swung his mace again, it seemed to glow hot.
Kron ducked underneath the strike, and another. He was already starting to sweat.
Not from overexerting himself but from heat, in fact his body seemed to be covered in waves of air, like what people would see if they went to a desert.
Must be one of his Semblances.
Kron jumped as the man swung down with his mace.
And the Saiyan threw a straight punch aiming for his face.
And just as he did another grey barrier that protected the ship appeared.
"Huh?" He said as the barrier glowed and fired a grey light and struck his chest, with the same amount of force as his punch.
Kron was pushed back and couldn't help but think that was familiar.
Bertilak smiled as he swung his mace upward and struck across his face.
The impact forced his head to turn, and his cheek had a burn mark on it.
As Kron was struck his eyes widened, surprised by that strike. It had a large amount of force and it felt extremely hot. It was strong, stronger than anything Winter or Slate had thrown at him.
The strike sent him rolling away.
Just then he stopped mid-air, but it was against his will, he felt himself being lifted by something he couldn't see.
He floated and glanced over at Carmine who had her hand aimed at him. So, she has the same as Glynda's Semblance.
Trapped in the telekinetic grip, Bertilak rans holding up his mace high, it turned red from the temperature.
But Kron used more of his strength to fight against the telekinesis and punched Bertilak across the face before the mace could hit him.
Carmine was surprised that he was still able to move even while restrained.
The Saiyan then aimed his hand and at Bertilak but then immediately changed his hand's aim and fired at Carmine.
She's been making those grey barriers; he should deal with her first.
With quick speed a grey barrier showed up in front of her.
Kron was freed and sees that his Ki blast hit another barrier. And the red ball of energy fired back at him.
He swayed his head as it destroyed a crate behind him.
The Saiyan looked at her strangely, he remembered those barriers she's been casting. Also she caught his feint really easily, she was faster than a Maiden from what he's seen.
Just then a wall of flame rose from the ground towards him.
He floated as the fire caught beneath him and looked at Bertilak who aimed his hand.
A fire-based Semblance clearly. That explained the heat.
Bertilak scowled as he walked forward, he glowed red showing he was activating a Semblance. He ran forward attempting to swing his mace.
Kron glanced at Carmine who seemed focused on him, no doubt waiting to protect Slate with another barrier.
He smiled and fired a Ki blast over at Carmine again while Bertilak was running at him from the front.
Predictably Carmine put up another barrier.
And the Saiyan turned to see Bertilak already in front of him.
Carmine's barrier fired the blast back towards the Saiyan.
Kron jumped up as Bertilak went for another swing only to be hit by his Ki blast that she used her Semblance to fire back at him.
"Bertilak!" She shouted shocked at how she was duped into attacking her partner.
Bertilak growled as he looked up.
Kron had swung an axe kick down on top of the brute's head forcing his head down.
He then quickly grabbed the staggered brute's arm, he felt his hands singe from grabbing him because of his heat.
With a growl, he tossed Bertilak away and towards Carmine.
Carmine was too slow to react as the brute was swung to her and the two hit a shipping container behind them.
Kron chuckled as he saw that he put them both on their backs.
Carmine groaned as her partner stood up.
The Saiyan looked at Bertilak and examined a burn mark on his hand.
"Let's see, a fire Semblance from the brute." He then looked at the redhead. "And you, telekinesis, and" He remembered those grey barriers. "Mirror Force, you have Slate's Semblance."
The woman rubbed her head and looked at him.
"Slate?" Carmine asked looking at him. "I don't know that name, but Mirror Force is the name of my Semblance, I didn't kill him in case you're wondering."
"I don't care if you did or didn't, I never really liked him." He replied. "He was an idiot that always hid behind his Mirror Force like it was the only card he had to play." Even in their last fight, he did enjoy it but it was so ridiculous how he did not only rely on his own Semblance but two others instead of actual skill.
Kron continued as he chuckled.
"We only just started and already I see that you're both stronger than a Maiden." He admitted. Both have shown greater strength and speed than what he's seen from Winter. "But you should know, I'm quite a bit stronger than a Maiden myself."
While he was talking Carmine whispered to Bertilak.
"Bertilak, I know you hate it, but we need to resort to our combo."
Bertilak growled, he may have gotten used to working with Carmine, but he never liked working her. And he hated their new combo even more. But this kid he was strong, even against his enhancements.
"Fine, do it!" The heat around him dissipated.
Carmine placed a hand on Bertilak, and a white glow surrounded them both.
Bertilak and Carmine's eyes glowed white.
Kron eyed the boat getting further away from him, hopefully he can have some fun before he really needs to capture that weakling.
The Saiyan ran forward at a greater speed than a Maiden with a fist cocked back.
And Bertilak ran forward to his eyes glowed white, and his body looked red using his Semblances.
Kron's eyes widened as Bertilak was already in front of him. He had matched his speed.
He quickly acted and thrust his chop hand forward towards his neck.
And a small Mirror Force Barrier appeared before his hand.
It fired back the same amount of force forcing his hand to recoil.
Bertilak then swung his chained mace across at greater speed then he should.
Kron was struck across the face, and he burned again from the strike and stumbled back.
The brute then rose his mace and struck his arm down.
The iron ball of the mace hit the ground and encased the ground in fire.
Bertilak looked up to see Kron readying an axe kick.
He yelled as he slammed his leg down.
And again, a Mirror barrier appear.
"Really?" She's even worse than Slate.
Like before the Mirror Barrier fired back the same amount of force on his foot and sent him spinning away.
Bertilak, chuckled as he watched, then his body glowed, and his entire body was no longer just encased in mere heatwaves. Now he was in a cloak of fire, yet his hood and clothing weren't affected.
He then ran forward even faster than before.
Kron stopped mid-air and sees Bertilak again appear in front of him.
The Saiyan was confused, did he just get faster?
With a laugh the brute threw his left punch across the face.
Kron felt the fire-encased punch, burning and blood left his mouth. More than usual.
The Saiyan then jumped back as the brute tried to slam his mace downward.
Before was stronger than a Maiden, now though he's gone even further. And when he tries to attack back a Mirror Barrier appears, that girl, she's assisting him from a distance.
He quickly glanced around for his support and tries to sniff the air.
But before he could find a scent Bertilak was already on him.
He swung his mace across aiming for his head.
And the Saiyan ducked underneath, he looked up to see the burning brute opening his mouth.
Bertilak released a breath of fire.
Kron was ensnared in flames, his cloak caught on fire, and he actually screamed.
This fire, it burned more than any Maiden that used fire on him than he can remember.
Bertilak then kicked the burning Saiyan down with his foot surrounded in flame and pressed the Saiyan down.
"Hahahaha! Die monkey!"
The brute swung his mace across his foe's face.
It forced the mask off his face and to crack, revealing a bruised Kron's face.
Bertilak didn't stop there and swung his mace across his face again which was still on fire.
And it forced him to turn again, Bertilak did it one more time and made the Saiyan spit more blood.
Kron looked surprised, the pain he was feeling it was some of the worst he's felt in a while. The strength, the speed, it was rising, and his flames were burning harder.
The level of strength he used against the Maidens was useless, he never thought he'd face this kind of strength now.
Bertilak then lifted his boot off of him and grabbed the boy's neck, his cape was still on fire and his face was covered in his own blood.
The brute then let go and swung his fire covered mace into his chest and sent him skidding until he hit a shipping container.
"Hahahaha!" Bertilak laughed as he looked at the fire covered container. "This power, all the suffering, the pain I had to endure it was all worth it, I didn't think the Scourge would be this easy!"
He looked towards the shipping container where he hit Kron.
"Red!" He yelled his partner's nickname. "I think he's done, he's surely just a burned corpse now!" He said admiring the fire he caused.
Near the docks
Blake looked at the fire with widened eyes. Kron was strong, so strong that Ozpin had to agree to his terms. He thought for certain that he'd be strong enough to handle anything.
It was what she feared that gave him the potential to be dangerous, but also what she thought would give her a chance to help him.
"Blake!" The Schnee Heiress shook her teammate. "Listen, I'm going to call Ozpin, but I don't know if help will reach in time, what do you want to do?"
The Cat Faunus turned to Weiss and looked at where Kron was knocked into covered in fire and bleeding profusely.
"Weiss, you can stay and wait for Ozpin to send someone, I'm going to see if there's anything I can do!" She said as she jumped down the building.
As she did the heiress looked to where she jumped.
"Blake!" She sighed annoyingly. "I thought Ruby was a dolt!" She made the call to Beacon while jumping down Glyph to Glyph to chase after Blake.
She had made it next to Blake who was hiding a distance away from the fight, she hadn't been noticed.
"Blake don't do anything rash!"
The Cat Faunus turned to Weiss.
"You don't have to help, just wait for Ozpin to send help, I'll go in and see if I can sneak Kron away."
"Don't you dare!" Weiss said. "You've seen the fight if he's struggling what do you think we can do?!"
Blake shook the heiress was right, there's no way she can go in and get Kron out undetected. But if she doesn't Kron could die, and these two. These two were strong enough to fight him, then what happens to Vale?
The Cat Faunus was about to go against her teammate's wishes and try to get closer but she stopped when she noticed something.
Bertilak was annoyed that his partner was refusing to come out of her hiding spot but looked at the spot he knocked the Scourge of Anima into.
Kron had stood up, his head was down, his cloak was missing and his tight top had holes all across and a hole on his black pants.
He was shaking and making a noise that was hard to hear.
Bertilak chuckled seeing him in this state.
"Hah! Pathetic monkey!" The Crown member yelled. "Look at you, you were so proud of your power and look at you now, crying."
The Saiyan said nothing, continued to shake and kept making that noise that Bertilak assumes to be crying.
"Hmm, fine, since I'm a civil human, I'll give you a chance, surrender, and" He stopped when his foe was getting louder.
"hehe" Kron let out a chuckle and it progressed into a full-blown laugh. "Hahahahahaha!" He lifted his head up showing blood down his right eye small burn marks on his face and a large smile.
Bertilak looked confused at the situation and glared.
"You must've lost whatever mind you had."
Kron stopped laughing and just kept smiling. "Lost it? No, I'm fine. More than fine, you, you and your partner are better than I thought, I mean look at me!" He lifted his arms to his sides. "No full team of huntsman had done this to me, not even the Ace Operatives, and no Maiden has either! This is great, you two are great hahaha!"
Bertilak growled.
'Um, Bertilak, I think he might have lost it.'
The brute silently agreed.
The Saiyan took a breath and let it out. He smiled and looked at Bertilak. "I thought to do this I would have to wait Three." He brought one arm to his side. "Long." He brought his other one up. "Months." He smiled as he took his fighting stance, his right fist forward and his left chopping hand pulled back.
Bertilak looked unimpressed and asked.
"Three months for what?"
Kron smiled.
"Full power, I'm going to use full power starting now, you've earned it."
Bertilak scoffed hearing that and rolled his eyes.
"Hahaha, oh monkey, clearly you still think this is some kind of game." He brought his mace up and looked at him with a savage smile. "Come, let me show you what happens when you lose."
Kron kept his smile he didn't care about his insults.
No more, he didn't have to restrain himself. He could let loose right here.
He just hopes Bertilak, or technically, he and Carmine last longer than Winter did when he last did this.
Kron dashed forward as fast as he could.
Bertilak's eyes widened as now Kron appeared right in front of him.
The Saiyan slammed his fist aiming for his stomach.
Panicked, the green-haired man rose a hand and quickly caught it in his fire-covered hand.
Bertilak cringed when he caught it, he felt the bone in his palm crack.
Kron looked up at him and smiled.
"Oh, you caught my punch good!" He said satisfied. "But looks like your partner couldn't react in time to use Mirror Force!"
The brute opened his mouth and stored more fire.
Kron decided to use the same technique he used the last time he went all out.
He punched Bertilak in the stomach making the brute keel over and release fire out his mouth safely without harming him. He then forced the Crown member up in the air with the same punch.
Kron then flew up even further and punched him in the stomach sending him higher in the sky.
The Saiyan dashed up with his knee out and hit Bertilak up the chin making him look up.
Bertilak felt the blood leave his lip and yelled.
"Carmine! You see this right?! Why ar-"
Just then he sees Kron flowing down with his fists aimed downward, he couldn't help but see a manticore in his paws with claws aimed at its prey.
"Manticore Massacre!"
Kron then slammed both his fists connecting to Bertilak's stomach and pushed down his stomach and slammed him to the ground shaking the docks from the amount of force he put it.
Bertilak coughed up some blood from the impact.
Once that was done, Kron backflipped and landed on a shipping container, and crossed his arms. The last time he did this Winter couldn't get up.
Blake was shocked to see how this played out. One minute he looked worse for wear now he had his opponent on the ropes.
This was full power. She couldn't even see him move!
Relief filled her seeing that he was ok, but also fear. Fear that if she failed to steer him in the right direction of the kind of damage he could do.
Weiss had been shaking as she sees Kron able to still move at greater speeds than anything she's seen.
She remembered how the Scourge was said to ambush Winter and escape Atlas after a failed robbery at the museum.
But seeing this, she wondered if this was true.
And if Yang could ever surpass power like this.
"Blake, just how strong is he?"
The Cat Faunus didn't know, and she was worried to find out.
And what he'll do with this kind of power.
With effort, the brute yelled and grew more flames.
He wasn't beaten yet.
Kron chuckled; he cracked his knuckles.
"Oh good, last time I did that at full power my opponent was out like a light." He said remembering Winter. "Please, try to last longer ok! I haven't fought all out in too long!"
Bertilak heard that and yelled enraged, his fire grew larger.
Kron smiled as he felt the heat from him, he was sweating from it and getting more fatigued. But he was fine with that, it made for a more interesting fight. Not to mention the Mirror Force his partner's casting wherever she is.
"You wretched monkey! I am not your playmate! I am going to burn and smash you to pieces.
Bertilak swung his chained mace across.
And Kron with full speed swayed his upper body back and once the mace missed, he slammed his head forward against Bertilak's head forcing his head back.
The Saiyan threw a punch into the brute's stomach forcing him to keel over.
"Gah!" Bertilak looked into the boy's eyes. He can see the hunger for battle, for war, he was loving this and wanted more of it.
Kron then threw another punch, but a Mirror barrier appeared this time.
Once his fist contacted it, the barrier cracked.
The Saiyan wasn't disappointed, it was stronger than Slate's even with Soul Dust.
It blasted the force back at him.
Kron was struck by the force of his own punch and forced his head to rear back.
Bertilak roared as he tried to slam down his mace on top of the boy.
But before he could Kron slammed his head forward once again slamming his head into the Mirror Barrier, except this time it couldn't absorb the impact and broke on contact.
Shattering it and hitting Bertilak's skull again making him rear back again.
"Ahhh!" The fire-cloaked warrior screamed from the force of the pain.
Kron then swept the kick brute making him fall on his back.
Bertilak screamed his shin was kicked and he fell. The forces of his attack were stronger than ever, he wasn't bluffing! The heat from his Semblance it's still affecting him but it doesn't seem to affect him at all! He even took a Mirror Force to his face and still fought back!
The brute then found himself being lifted.
Kron lifted him by his leg, ignoring the fire, and tossed him.
Bertilak hit through two shipping containers getting them coated in flames.
The Saiyan's smile started to falter, he wondered if that was it. He hoped it wasn't.
And Bertilak yelled as he stood up covered in even more fire.
"You wretched disgusting monkey! I will burn you to ash!"
Kron smiled again, he was still up and running!
"That's what I love to hear!" Kron yelled running forward at the quickest speed.
Bertilak followed suit and ran forward.
This time though at Kron's side, two sais were closing in on him.
Kron was at a striking distance and threw the first punch.
A sai struck into his hand forcing it down with the blade embedded into his skin.
The Saiyan looked at it, guessing that the woman was behind that.
Bertilak threw a fire-encased punch across the boy's face forcing his head to turn, he then swung his mace across.
Only for Kron to throw a spear hand into Bertilak's throat making him gag and stumble back ruining his strike,
The Saiyan then threw a punch into his gut with his left hand, then an uppercut with his right, then he jumped and spun kick across his face making him stumble to the right.
Kron then kicked forward towards his chest sending him rolling away into a scaffolding.
Bertilak hit through an iron beam and yelled.
As he stood up, he pressed his earpiece.
"Carmine! What are you doing? Why aren't you producing the barriers!"
"Bertilak, he's too fast I can't keep up!"
The brute growled and noticed that Kron was now in front of him.
Kron looked up at him with a bored expression.
"I'm sorry, is the fun already over?"
Bertilak roared as his entire body was further into flames, he could feel his strength growing and tossed his mace again.
Kron was struck across the face and still smiled.
"Good"
The Saiyan jumped as the brute tried to kick his chest, he landed behind the brute and kicked into his back.
Bertilak staggered from the strike, turned around, and released fire from his mouth.
Kron jumped as the fire only hit the air and he tossed a Ki blast at him.
The Brute watched in fear, but then a Mirror Barrier showed, absorbed the blast, and redirected it back at Kron.
He was unable to block, and the blast hit him dead on.
Bertilak sees his opening and slammed his mace on the ground, sending a trail of fire Kron's way.
The Saiyan recovered from his blast and sees the fire spreading towards him.
With a smile, the Saiyan took the flames and again was covered in flames.
Bertilak chuckled and laughed seeing the fire consume him, these abilities, these extra Semblance he and Carmine received.
He remembered being told that these Soul Dust crystals they received were upgraded, making them some of the strongest on the planet, stronger than any Huntsman.
The brute glanced towards a shipping container where Carmine was hiding in.
Her Semblances were a huge blessing, making their teamwork more dangerous than ever.
Carmine's Semblances:
Original Semblances-Telekinesis, she's able to pick up objects with her mind, originally, she can only use her abilities to create sandstorms and her Sais. Now enhanced with Soul Dust, she's able to pick up larger objects.
Extra Semblance- Mirror Force: Slate's Semblance, able to create a wall of light in front of the user's body that fires reflect whatever force thrown at the barrier to where it was sent. (Note: Combined with Telekinesis allows the user to create Mirror Barriers anywhere within the Telekinesis's reach)
Extra Semblance- Vision Spread: She's able to see through the eyes of anyone she chooses. (Note: This allows her to use her Mirror Force in front of whoever she's assisting.)
Bertilak chuckled, while he wasn't fond of Carmine, he had to admit, she always had her uses, and even more now.
And with his well-mixed Semblances, he was a more effective fighter than anyone!
Bertilak's Semblances:
Original Semblance- Heat Generation: His body can produce heat in waves, making whoever's near him go through heat as if they were in the deserts of Sanus.
Extra Semblance- Focused Flame: He's able to focus the temperature of anything and create flames, including his own body temperature. (Note: Combined with Heat Generation allows him a never ending supply of heat.)
Extra Semblance – Fervor: He's able to get stronger and faster from the heat he feels (Note combined with heat generation allows him to not need any outside sources.)
His two extra Semblances were handpicked by Jax himself the leader of the Crown. He wasn't sure if working for Salem was wise, but it ended up granting him quite the benefits that were worth selling out to.
Now to use it to end the monkey!
He ran towards Kron who was covered in fire and seemingly couldn't move from the burns.
Once the brute was up close, he swung his mace toward the Scourge of Anima. Yes! He will be the one to put the Scourge of Anima down!
The fire-encased mace hit Kron's face.
Bertilak then slammed his left fist at Kron making his head turn the other side.
He then opened his mouth to release another stream of fire.
With this, he will be reduced to ash!
But just as he did, Kron jumped and kicked across his face.
Bertilak was sent and crashed into some boxes.
He grunted as he glared at the stubborn boy who managed to kick him.
And already Kron who still had some small flames licking over his tight top revealing his scar on the left side of his chest.
And he was still wearing the same smile on his face, he was still enjoying this.
He wasn't bothered by the flames at all!
Bertilak roared as he swung his mace again.
"Stop! Smiling!"
Kron caught the mace by its chain and held it in front of his face.
Bertilak yelled but smiled as he pulled the trigger of his mace.
A gunshot hit Kron on the forehead making him look up.
He smiled again thinking he won but frowned when he looked down at him.
Kron frowned at him, the gunshot didn't hurt, he was just disappointed. Disappointed that his opponent would use a gun. That means he's desperate.
He pulled the mace by it's chain and swung a kick to his side.
A mirror Barrier showed where he was kicking.
Which made the brute smile but then he frowned at the sight.
This time Kron's kick was strong enough to break through the barrier and strike into Bertilak's side. He can still feel the heat from his skin but that didn't matter to him.
Bertilak screamed as the kick sent him rolling away and slamming through a shipping container.
Inside the container Bertilak was knocked into, Carmine was standing inside and she looked at her partner.
"Bertilak?" She covered her mouth. Was this a coincidence?
Behind her she heard a noise.
No, he couldn't have known where she was. Not this entire time!
She looked over her shoulder slowly and her heart nearly stopped at the sight.
Kron looked at her with a bored expression.
"Hi, sorry to barge in." He said to her with a smile.
Carmine startled turned around and aimed her hands at him.
Kron immediately felt a pressure on his body no doubt her telekinesis.
He started walking affected but not enough to keep him from moving.
Carmine lifted one hand and swung down.
Her two Sais she sent at him earlier pierced through the top and tried to strike his shoulder.
But Kron was quicker and appeared in front of her and kicked into her stomach while her sais hit the ground where he stood.
Carmine yelled as she was sent out of the container.
Kron glanced at Bertilak, he was unconscious no doubt his Aura broke. He's going to suffer the withdrawal of the Soul Dust any second now. He remembered how he shattered Slate's Aura, and he ended up losing his mind, un able to do a thing.
Too bad he was stronger than him to.
The Saiyan walked out of the container. First, he'll make sure the same happens to that woman and then he'll follow that boat. He remembered Cinder's disgusting scent.
Kron disappeared leaving behind Bertilak's body.
As he did, the brute's fingers show some movement, and his green aura glowed slightly.
(-)-
Carmine held her stomach in pain as she started getting up, she was told that this Soul Dust would increase her power to beyond anything she could do on her own.
While she did believe that she was shocked beyond belief that this boy, Kron could force them into a corner like this. She thought that he would be difficult but, this much.
Kron appeared not far from her.
Carmine flinched as she stumbled back.
The Saiyan aimed his hand forward and fired a Ki ball.
The red head immediately rose her hand to create a Mirror Barrier not far from her.
Before his blasts would deflect while cracking.
But the grey barrier cracked and broke through it.
Carmine screamed as she was sent back from the explosion. The girl grunted as she tried to get up as Kron walked forward.
"Ok, you made your point!" She yelled as she got back. "Please, you can catch Cinder just stop!"
The Saiyan frowned hearing that.
"You gave up, boring." He shrugged. "Sorry, but I made the mistake letting Tyrian go and he caused my plans to be ruined, I'm not making the same mistake here." He walked forward.
Carmine yelled as she put her hands forward.
The two Sais that were left behind were swung from behind aiming for his back.
Both had pierced into his back.
Carmine smiled she could tell that she landed her strike, but her jaw dropped when he casually moved his arms.
Kron grabbed the small blades from his back and pulled them out. He looked at them to see small drops of blood.
"Even with your Aura drained, you still had the strength to make me bleed." He noted as he looked at the Sais.
The woman yelled as she thrust her hands forward forcing as much force as her telekinesis as possible.
And Kron grinned as he felt pushed but walked forward effected by it but it didn't serve to slow him down.
"Stay away!" Carmine yelled.
The Saiyan frowned at her screaming for mercy as he got closer and closer.
It was fun while it lasted, at least it was fun while it lasted.
(-)-(-)-
Bertilak's body glowed green, then red, and yellow.
"Ugh" He got up and unlike Slate or Hazel he wasn't suffering the symptoms of the Soul Dust and his Aura recharged normally.
He walked out of the container while walking out. He sees the Scourge beating Carmine senseless.
Damn it, head-to-head she was useless.
If he interferes, he'll be dead, retreating would be best.
He wanted to take the monkey down, but he knew better.
"Damn it" He couldn't bring himself to escape, he's never run from a fight, especially a Faunus!
He turned and grudgingly thought of the escape route.
But he glanced at something, something unexpected.
He smiled, it was a gamble, but he knew it was their best chance.
(-)-(-)-
Blake and Weiss watched as the 'fight' between Kron and the woman continued.
"It looks like it's over." The heiress noted. "Blake maybe we should go, I'm not sure he'll be in the mood to talk."
The Cat Faunus wanted to argue but she didn't see the problem. It may have looked dicey, but he pulled through.
He really does seem to be the strongest around.
"Maybe your right, ok Weiss, we can go I'm sorry for dragging you here." She can talk to Kron later.
Weiss shook her head and the duo turned around.
"Oh no stay" A voice said behind them.
The duo froze in their tracks, it was a male voice, and it wasn't Kron.
It was the green haired man he was fighting covered in blood and bruises.
They turned around and Blake was grabbed by the throat.
Weiss tried to stop the brute, but the man merely back handed the girl.
"Ugh" The heiress's blood leaked out her mouth.
Blake couldn't move as she looked into the green haired man's eyes.
"Let's go have a word with him." He said smirking.
The Cat Faunus struggled but couldn't break his hold.
What had she done?
(-)-
Kron punched Carmine in the stomach, her red Aura shattered, and she fell unconscious.
The Saiyan looked at her and shrugged.
He turned towards the boat that was far in the horizon, it got far away but not far enough for him not to see.
"Time to die Cinder." He floated and was about to race towards the witch.
"Scourge! I'm still here!"
Kron stopped and chuckled, so the Soul Dust hadn't reduced Bertilak to a vegetable. Guess he'll be more fun for later.
"Give me a minute, and I'll-"He stopped mid-sentence.
Unsurprisingly Bertilak was standing there.
What was unexpected was what or rather who he was holding.
In both hands he was holding the Schnee, and the other was Blake.
Kron froze with widened eyes, he didn't move and focused on Blake who was shaking in the brute's grip.
Bertilak smiled, his reaction was perfect he was right to catch these. He cares for one of these two.
The brute slammed his hand down with the Schnee heiress on her stomach. He then put his boot on her back.
"Gah!" Weiss yelled in pain as she felt the man stomp on her.
"Weiss!" Blake yelled as she shook in his grip but couldn't do a thing.
"Silence!" The man yelled and looked up at the Scourge. "Scourge! It's in your best interest to leave that boat be! Right?!"
Kron heard that and bared his teeth. He aimed his hand out prepping a Ki blast.
"Ah ah!" He squeezed his grip.
Blake cried out in pain.
The Saiyan flinched at that, he stopped, hearing that scream. That pained scream. It was strange but seeing her in pain gave him a feeling he didn't understand. It made him angry and for some reason it hurt seeing her this way.
Like how it hurt when he betrayed Kali.
Bertilak cackled at the boy.
"Alright! First off put the hand away, or I'll set her on fire! And I doubt she'd be able to resist my flames like you can!"
Kron growled and looked at Blake in his hand.
"Why are you here?! You idiot!" He yelled towards Kali's daughter.
Blake had one eye opened and focused on Kron.
"I-I'm sorry Kron I"
Suddenly Bertilak glowed green generating heat.
"Aaah!" She yelled in pain as his hand felt like hot iron.
Kron sees that and has a glare that many would run from. "Stop it now!"
"I make the demands!" Bertilak yelled back as he looked at the girl in his hand. "You do not talk, you do not chase the boat, and you do not attack! Understand?!"
The Saiyan shook in rage, his instincts were screaming at him to beat down this weakling. To show him that he was lower on the food chain than he is! He can get to him before he does anything to Blake and if she does end up hurt it's her fault for getting here!
Instead, he decided to try to convince him that he didn't have the time.
"Bertilak, you should know something about Soul Dust." Kron began eyeing Blake; he doesn't see her hurting. "It has a nasty side effect; you'll lose your mind." He remembered Slate how he seemed to have multiple personalities only to become a drooling mess.
The Crown member cackled.
"You haven't noticed, have you? The Soul Dust we were given doesn't have that weakness!" He cackled. "The idiot you fought had a weaker variant of it!"
Kron squeezed his fists, that explained why he didn't just lose his mind after shattering his Aura. Not to mention his Aura wasn't depleting that quickly and he had to resort to going all out.
No doubt this was a stronger version of what Slate had.
"Now, then you best listen to what I say." Bertilak held up Blake and smiled. "Understand?"
The girl looked worried up at Kron, she glanced down at Weiss as well who had Bertilak's boot on her back more for him than herself. She endangered both her teammate and Kron, she couldn't be more ashamed.
"Got it?!" Bertilak asked while shaking the Cat Faunus.
He was about to attack but then he stopped. Memories of when they were children popped up, she was annoying how she would run behind Kali whenever he said anything she didn't like. She was annoying, so why should he save her? He also remembered that day on the beach where she was amazed by his ability to make shapes with Ki.
Then at their reunion, she didn't try to attack him. She heard him out, she wanted to hear his side to the story of what happened.
The one day where they were getting along, was also the last day he had at the Belladonna household. Where he experienced the human's idea of 'family'.
No doubt about it, like with Kali, he formed an attachment with Blake.
Any Saiyan worth their salt would scoff at such weakness.
They would fight anyway regardless of who was in danger.
Kron tried to just charge at Bertilak and risk Blake, but he stopped.
To his shame, he couldn't bring himself to.
Bertilak sees his silence as compliance, and he smiled.
"Alright, now come to the ground." He said to him while holding up Blake.
Kron growled as he slowly descended and landed on the ground. He looked at Blake who had a look on her face. Such an idiot girl! What was the point of following him? How did she do it?!
Weiss watched as the Scourge obeyed, she was surprised at how he was doing this.
As the Saiyan stood on the ground he glared at Bertilak, no doubt imagining all the painful ways to end him.
"Next" He glanced at Carmine behind the boy, he needed him. "Pass my partner to me, gently."
Kron turned to the woman, he is contemplating using her as a hostage to release Blake. But it was too risky, he might be willing to let her die to kill him.
Best to go along with it.
The Saiyan grabbed the woman by the hand and tossed her gently at Bertilak's side.
The brute looked at his unconscious and turned back to the Scourge. It was time to cremate him.
"Good, now hands to your side, where I can see them."
Kron did so and held out his hands. He glanced at them and at him, trying to figure out something he can do about this.
Without endangering Blake.
"Good" Bertilak aimed his right hand forward. "Now hold still and let me blast you as I please!"
Blake's eyes widened and she shook. This wasn't supposed to happen! She thought she was being careful! If only she didn't get so close! She thought he needed help for a moment.
Bertilak released fire blasts from his palm.
Kron stood and watched his fireballs get closer and scoffed.
The fire surrounded the Saiyan, and he didn't cry out in pain.
But Bertilak didn't care, he was more than happy to set him ablaze.
"No!" She tried to escape the brute's hand. "Stop!"
The brute ignored her and continued to blast fire at him. Yes! He was going to do it, he was going to end the Scourge of Anima. He'll have done not only the Crown a service but all of Vacuo, and the world!
Bertilak kept firing fire balls at the 'Monkey Faunus' and put his hand at the side and looked at all the smoke.
The brute laughed.
"Pathetic! All the power in the world and fails to do what needs to be done like a true warrior!"
Blake had a look of distraught on her face, that fire. It was more fire than any Fire Dust had produced!
Weiss who was struggling beneath Bertilak's boot and looked at the smoke. All that fighting and still he could produce those kinds of flames. And the Scourge, Kron, he took them. All for Blake, she was right there must be more to him.
Bertilak put his hand down and glanced at the woman.
"Sorry for your pet monkey! But there comes a time where you need to put your animal down." He didn't see through Blake's small disguise.
The woman glared and tried to break free from his grip but couldn't. Why did she have to follow Kron? Why did she put Weiss and Kron in danger?!
She looked at the smoke and watched it clear fearing that she would see a burnt corpse now.
Once the smoke cleared a shadow figure was standing and once it cleared.
Kron was standing covered in burnt marks, small flames were over his body and half his right pant leg was gone.
Bertilak's eyes widened. "What you're still standing?!"
The Saiyan still had the same glare even though he looked like he was affected by the flames. And he was, they hurt him, and he might not be able to take much more.
"I'll give you this" Bertilak smiled. "I have never seen anyone take as much flame as you, fine how about a round two." He aimed his hand ready to release more flames.
Kron glanced a bit to the side, his right indexed finger lifted and down. He then turned towards Bertilak.
"Before we do that, can I say something?" The Saiyan asked.
Bertilak was annoyed and thought of raising his temperature to burn the girl again, but he refrained from doing so.
He was in a winning position, there was nothing he can do anyway.
"Talk."
Kron kept his glare and focused on Bertilak.
"You shouldn't be disappointed in having weak flames."
The brute eyed Blake thinking of hurting her again.
But the Saiyan spoke before he could do anything. "I've learned that even the weakest attack, can lead to victory!" He lifted his right index finger.
Behind Bertilak a white Ki ball hit the back of his skull.
"Gah!"
In that moment, the brute let go of Blake.
Kron immediately dashed forward and appeared in front of the brute.
Bertilak looked panicked and yelled throwing a fist.
But the Saiyan punched his face straight into his face and sent him flying backward.
The brute screamed as the force of the punch forced him through boxes, iron bars, and a shipping container.
Blake grabbed the back of her neck from the pain and looked at Kron who punched her captor.
Weiss on the ground stood up and grunted. She looked at Kron, he not only took damage for Blake, but he had saved her. And herself as well.
The Cat Faunus looked at Kron who didn't turn to them, instead, he grabbed the woman the guy told him to pass to his side.
Blake couldn't help but be relieved at herself and Weiss for being saved. And Kron, he was attacked for her sake. Her mother was right! There really is more to him!
"Kron, th-"
"Shut it!" Kron interrupted her in an angry tone.
It made the Cat Faunus flinched, he was angry, angry that she was captured and took damage for her sake. She looked saddened and held her arm.
Weiss would have said something but the anger in his tone kept her from doing so, she didn't know how to respond.
"You, Discount Winter." He said without turning.
Anger filled her and she wanted to scream at him but kept her mouth shut given the nature of the situation.
"Watch the idiot, keep her from doing anything stupid." He said angrily. "Freeze her and drag her if you have to." He demanded.
Before anyone could talk further, Kron vanished from sight.
Blake looked at where he was, she had mixed emotions. She was elated to see how much Kron cared about her and her family. After he refused to see her mother, she was starting to doubt that he felt THAT much care for them.
But seeing him take those flames for her proved her mother right.
If only she wasn't stupid enough to get captured and used as a hostage.
"Blake!"
She turned to Weiss who had a worried look on her face.
"Come one, we should listen to him." She never thought she'd say that.
Blake looked at where Kron was and felt guilty. He let himself get hurt because of her.
She turned and walked with Weiss away from the docks.
But she smiled happy to see that Kron wasn't the monster most feared him as.
"Students!"
The duo stopped and turned to see who was there.
To their relief, it was a familiar blonde teacher in a blouse and purple cape.
"Professor Goodwitch!"
The blonde professor looked at her students with a stern face.
"Please, inform me of the situation."
(-)-(-)-
Bertilak groaned as he stood up holding his jaw.
He was so close, if he had more times that brat would have been burnt to ash!
Who did that? Who fired at him from the back?
Just as he thought that Kron appeared in front of him holding Carmine in his hand.
"You!" The brute backed up as the person they meant to protect Salem's protégé from appeared. He backed up seeing the monster. "Who helped you! Who attacked me from behind?!"
The Saiyan still floating lifted his hand. "No one, it was me, you should have kept a closer eye on my fingers." He explained. "All that fire you blasted me made a huge smoke screen, I fired a small energy blast with Guided Swarm and positioned it not far behind you, just by lifting my finger I pulled it towards you." He smiled thinking of how he moved his finger slowly and slowly behind him.
Bertilak merely growled in response wondering what other abilities did this animal have?
Once Kron landed on the ground his eyes shifted at Carmine as he tossed her on the ground. Usually, he wouldn't dream of doing this, but thinking of Blake being stupid enough to be captured again.
The Saiyan lifted his foot and stomped on the woman's legs.
Bertilak looked surprised.
Carmine woke up screaming. "Ahhhh!"
Kron felt disgusted! He didn't care about the woman; she can die for all he cares. But his Saiyan blood was highly displeased with attacking a foe when their unconscious instead of in battle.
But he couldn't risk it, he didn't want to deal with another stupid situation like that again.
The brute glared at him.
"Ha! Of course, an animal like you would resort to attacking someone while unconscious."
Kron growled; he began to feel even more self-loathing than he did already. Self-loathing for allowing himself to be attacked to save someone weak. And for attacking someone who couldn't fight back.
Carmine stopped screaming and lost consciousness again from the shock.
He eyed the man with a glare.
"After finding out that your Soul Dust doesn't have the same problem as what Slate used, I can't have your partner resorting to the same pathetic, weak, tactic."
Bertilak chuckled and held up his mace.
"Pathetic, you let yourself open for someone useless." He said to him.
Kron said nothing as he walked towards him with a murderous glare.
The brute laughed; this was over for the Scourge. He can pretend to have strength all he wants; the reality is he knows that he's at the end of his rope. No one can deal with all the flames he sent to him and still be at full strength.
Bertilak swung with his mace.
Only for Kron to punch into his stomach.
The brute coughed and was sent up and landed on his back.
"Wh-what?" He was shocked that he was still this strong after all the damage he delivered.
Kron stopped and held a hand up to his side. "It's over for you."
Bertilak's eyes widened as he got up and backed away. "You're bluffing you don't kill anymore."
The Saiyan focused red Ki around his right arm.
"Usually, I let people alive to fight me again later." A red mass of Ki surrounded his arm. "Too bad, killing someone as strong as you is kind of a waste."
The brute backed away; fear started to appear.
"What?! No! Listen, I, I was only following orders!" He yelled backing away and gripping his stomach. "They would have killed me if I failed!"
Kron's right arm was covered in a red Ursa Claw shape.
"Then you were at a lose-lose situation." Kron glared at Bertilak, with more wrath in it than anyone since his fight with Raven.
Since he found out about Kali caring for him, he felt the need to be more selective with who he kills than he used to.
Raven was of course at the top for obvious reasons.
Then the Branwen Tribe until they sold her out.
And now Cinder since she got in his way.
He thought of seeing Blake in pain.
No doubt this weakling has made the list.
Kron cocked back his Ki claw ready to strike.
Bertilak roared as he ran forward. "Liar! Your bluffing!" He roared wrapping his chained mace in flames and swung with all his might.
Kron watched as the man he hated ran at him; he couldn't blame him for saying he was bluffing. he did go soft after all, he had to admit that.
But not soft enough to forgive what he did with Blake.
Kron thrust his Ki claw out and yelled.
"Ursa Claw!"
The Saiyan trusted his technique and slammed his clawed hand at Bertilak's chest.
It went straight into Bertilak's green chest plate and through his chest.
Kron's Ursa Claw even cut through the back of Bertilak, covering his arm in blood.
Bertilak was shocked as he looked down to see Kron's arm in his chest.
"N-no!" The green haired man coughed blood.
Mercilessly, the Saiyan pulled back his Ursa claw and let it fade away. He looked up at the brute who focused on his chest.
"Sorry if it wasn't quick, my last kill was a few months ago." He remembered the four Branwen Tribe members he killed. Kron waved his hand to force some of the blood off his arm. He then walked beside Bertilak who kneeled and coughed blood.
Time to focus on what he came for, he'll remember Carmine after this. He flew up not even looking back at the dying Bertilak.
Bertilak fell to his side and coughed more blood. All the pain he went through for these extra Semblances. Was for nothing.
The brute's vision went blank remembering the red claw that pierced his chest.
And for the first time in months, Kron had gone back to his roots and taken another life.
Kron flew over the ocean, he sniffed the air, he can still detect Cinder's scent.
He sees a boat in the distance, the same boat that sped off.
Kron landed on the boat and forced himself in the door.
He sniffed the air, she…. was here.
The Saiyan walked out onto the boat and sniffed the air.
She's traveling by air.
Kron floated and was about to follow the scent that was almost untraceable now.
But then Kron felt something he hadn't felt in a long time.
He growled and turned around.
The bitch had gotten away.
He dashed back to where he came from.
Glynda had listened to her students; she was relieved to hear that the Scourge had only attracted two of Salem's men.
She had seen the Scourge of Anima, or rather Kron fly over the ocean. Chasing after this Cinder woman no doubt.
But she kept her focus on her students in case anymore enemies that he missed showed themselves.
"Thank you for all the information and I am sorry that I have not shown up sooner."
Weiss and Blake shook their heads.
"Think nothing of it, thank you for coming for us Professor Goodwitch." The heiress said and Blake nodded grateful for it all.
Glynda was ready to send the duo back to campus, but she stopped when she sees someone flying closer to the docks.
Her students also turned and see something that surprised them.
Kron was flying, more like floating and slowly descended and landed just at the edge of the docks.
Glynda looked at the Scourge and was surprised at what she saw. His clothes, he was missing his top, his cloak and mask. He looked worse for wear, covered in bruises and burns.
Blake walked forward and Weiss did follow close behind.
The Cat Faunus sees Kron standing close to the edge of the docks. And she can see that he was trembling a bit. She stopped as she was a few feet behind him.
She thought of how he yelled at her to shut it. But she shook off the fear and spoke.
"Kron? Are you ok?" She asked as Weiss stopped not far behind the disguised Faunus.
The Saiyan turned around and frown his right arm was covered in blood.
Blake's eyes widened at the arm and looked up to see his face.
Weiss felt on guard seeing the blood and instinctively put a hand on her blade.
Kron can see the fear in Blake's eyes. He wondered if that was the face her mother made when she found out who he was.
For whatever reason he thought he should give some explanation. "He would have told others my connection with you." He said to her in a blank tone.
Blake remembered how Adam would always have an excuse for the murders he committed. But the ones he committed were against humans who were no real threat to him. And not long ago the human she presumed that he had killed was using her to threaten him.
She wanted to understand but she was subconsciously comparing him with Adam and how he killed without any sign of regret.
Kron looked back at her and said nothing, he then turned to see someone else walking behind her and the Schnee.
Ozpin's lackey, Glynda walked closer to him and glanced at her students. And her eyes set on him.
The Saiyan can tell what she was thinking, first he might as well tell her something.
He pointed his thumb to his left.
"You'll find Soul Dust users over there, a woman with broken legs." He explained. "And a man with green hair, he's dead and that Cinder woman." He paused. "She got away." He said annoyed.
Blake watched how he casually said he killed the man. But she remembered how he used her as a hostage. He must have felt he had no choice.
But she couldn't help but think, was she just making an excuse for him?
Kron glanced at Blake's reaction, good, she wasn't comfortable, maybe she'll take the hint. He glanced at Glynda who seemed to glare.
Glynda looked at him and examined him and down. "Dead? I thought you wouldn't resort to that."
The Saiyan shrugged his shoulders.
"He didn't give me much choice, if he escaped either me or your prison, he'd spread word of my weakness."
Blake heard that and looked away at that. She had a hard time looking at him with his arm covered in blood. He halted his kills, she knows that, but he did it again, to protect her and her mother.
Yes, it's not like Adam's unjustified kills.
Glynda was silent as she looked at Kron up and down. She sees slight trembling, signs that he was fighting to stay standing. He was vulnerable.
Kron looked at Blake and spoke.
"You, stay out of the way from now on." Kron demanded her. "I doubt the next weakling will be as idiotic as that one was."
Blake heard that, she was stupid for allowing herself to be captured. She shouldn't have gotten closer.
"Your right, I'm sorry Kron, and thank you." She said still unable to look at him with all that blood.
Kron didn't reply and started walking away with his hands in his pockets. He hadn't felt like this since he was kid, he needed to get home and rest now.
Glynda watched him walk and looked at her students. She thought of the whole situation, how Ozpin had accepted the Scourge's conditions. He had protected their students and had handed them some important pieces of Salem's.
But she thought of the condition for all this protection. A fight with Yang and Raven. She had no care for Raven, but their student Yang. Ozpin had learned the basics of his power.
He isn't required for this anymore.
She watched Kron walk and sees him struggling.
The Scourge of Anima was vulnerable.
Glynda looked at her students and spoke.
"Please return to campus."
Before they could reply Goodwitch walked forward towards Kron.
The Saiyan grunted as he walked, the burns hurt quite a bit. He'll need to remember to be more careful now that he has a weakness.
He managed to walk away from the docks and kept his walk towards his home.
His nose picked up a familiar scent, not Blake's, or Discount Winter's.
He glanced over his shoulder.
And sees that it was Glynda again, following him.
"Need something?"
Glynda stopped and turned to see her students weren't around. Good, without them, she can do what is needed.
"I merely want to discuss something with you."
Kron can tell that she didn't want to discuss. If he refused, she'd likely be a problem, he'll go along with it.
"Go on"
Glynda can see that her students hadn't left, first she'll have to address some concerns.
"I know the details between you and Ozpin's agreement." She said to him. "And so far you have lived up to your end."
The Saiyan knew where this was going and didn't like how she was pretending to be civil.
"And?"
Professor Goodwitch thought of what to say.
"At the end of this deal, Miss Xiao Long is to live, regardless if Raven appears or not correct?"
Kron's trembling was starting to get more visible, standing at this state was a huge exercise for him.
"Yes" He meant it, he had no desire or reason to kill Yang. Not like before when he didn't know her.
Glynda decided to ask the important question.
"What reason do I have to believe that you will keep your end of the deal at that point?" She asked as she held up her riding crop. "Is there any guarantee that you will not put an end her?"
Kron scoffed at that and spoke.
"I invested so much time into training her instead of just knocking her out to lure that old hag." The Saiyan explained. "The whole reason I am making her stronger is because there aren't enough opponents strong enough to entertain me. Weather Raven shows up or not, I want Yang, the only other Ki user to live to get stronger and fight me when she's ready. Otherwise, I'd have to settle for weaklings, like you."
He couldn't help but say that given what she was about to do.
Glynda listened to his reasoning, it made sense, especially lined up with Ozpin's analysis on him. She can see why Ozpin was confident about his agreement with him.
The professor sighed. "I'm sorry, but that's still leaving her fate to chance..."
Kron tensed up hearing that.
He still wasn't on their side, in three months Yang will likely not be strong enough to he'd eventually grow into a threat if he continues to gain power.
Now? Now was their best chance to stop him, to protect the world from a power perhaps greater than Salem's.
"I only want to protect my students, I am sorry, but I cannot trust you." She rose her riding crop in a unique combat stance.
Kron looked at her and chuckled.
"Ozpin's orders?"
"It doesn't matter does it?"
The Saiyan turned completely to face her.
"It does, because I warned Ozpin if he double-crosses me, he'll be joining Raven." He said to her and brought his hands out of his pockets. "But I'll find out soon enough." He rose his arms and took his fighting stance but grimaced in pain as he did.
Kron wasn't the smartest, but he wasn't an idiot, he knew the situation. Using his full power, relying on his Ki to protect himself from Bertilak's flames, his Ursa Claw, and chasing that damn witch!
For the first time since he was a child, he had used all his Ki. He was empty and unlike Aura it can't recharge at the same rate without rest.
His legs felt like jelly, his arms felt like weights, he was drenched in sweat from the flames and his burns felt like he got out of the oven.
If this fight happens. He will die.
Oh well, guess he'll see if he can take this teacher with him!
Kron started to take a step forward intent to make the first move.
"Stop!"
The Saiyan glanced to his left.
And Glynda cursed as she sees her students running towards them.
Damn it, the one time she needed her students to leave.
Blake came to Kron's side while Weiss watched her go.
"Professor Goodwitch!" The Cat Faunus yelled. "What are you doing?"
The professor sighed and had spoken. "Please, Miss Belladonna, Miss Schnee leave now."
Blake looked back at Kron who was in his fighting stance, but she can see how he's struggling to stand. She turned back to her and spoke.
"Professor, please, stop this." Blake pleaded.
"I'm sorry but I can't." Professor Goodwitch replied. "You have to understand, Miss Xiao Long and many more lives are at stake."
Blake thought of that before, she remembered how he said he wouldn't kill Yang however this end. She wasn't sure if she believed that and seeing him covered in blood didn't help. But even so, she protected her, took damage for her.
He's like this, because of her.
And he's in danger right now because of her.
She turned back to Professor Goodwitch and shouted.
"Professor, please! I trust him, Ozpin trusts me! I know he'll keep his word!" She said to her. "He protected himself, he's like of this because of me!"
Kron growled as Blake talked, angry at himself for being vulnerable and her thinking she needed charity!
Professor Goodwitch can see the look in Blake's eyes, she wasn't going to back down no matter what she said.
"Professor Goodwitch"
She glanced toward the snow-haired girl.
"With all due respect, he protected two students today and was allowing the enemy to injure him to keep us safe." She paused still remembering how badly her sister was hurt, she glanced at the 'Monkey Faunus', he took a beating for her, likely mainly for Blake but she's alive because of him. She had to accept that.
"I do not believe that it is right to do this without a trial at least, you can't just do something so barbaric after he had done nothing but live up to his end of the agreement." Weiss reasoned and saw Blake smile at her grateful for helping her.
Glynda hated this; she didn't want to do this. But this was likely going to be there only chance. She was thinking of what happens after this deal.
And knew it'd be pointless to discuss with them.
"Children, leave, now." She warned her Aura was getting ready to attack.
"I won't!" Blake yelled and even put a hand on her weapon. "Stop this, pl-"
"Shut up Blake!"
The girl in black was startled and turn to see Kron, who didn't seem grateful for this at all. If anything he was angry.
"I- I just told you." He started struggling with his words. "Stay, out of my way."
Blake glared and turned to him.
"Look at yourself! You can barely stand."
He growled in response but was shaking. He didn't care, this was his fight, he didn't need anyone to bail him out.
"Just let us talk to her we can-" She stopped as she glowed purple and was lifted up.
Weiss looked in panic and was also lifted the ground.
Kron looked at Glynda who was lifting them up with her Semblance.
The woman closed her eyes and waved her riding crop.
Rocks were lifted off the ground and surrounded the two. It formed into a small rocky cage.
"No! Stop this!" Blake yelled trapped along with Weiss.
He was going to die! She could barely move and couldn't do a thing. She was going to die.
All because of her!
Glynda used her Semblance to put the two students to side and set her sights on Kron.
Despite the situation Kron chuckled, he didn't know if he can get out of this, but he'll be damned if he doesn't try.
"Ready?" Kron asked, feeling something, he hadn't felt in a long time. Fear, he was afraid, was he going to die like this?
Before he could learn all of Remnant's history?
Before seeing Yang grow to her full potential?
Before his final death match with Raven?
So much work, all for nothing.
These were not his only regret as an image of Kali came to his mind.
He felt a strange hurt again thinking of her.
Kron hid his fear, his regret, and yelled.
If he was going to die, he was going to take this teacher with him!
He used what little energy he had and ran towards her.
"No!" Blake yelled as she kept trying to escape the cage.
Glynda watched him running towards her, he was slow, slower than any usual huntsman. This was it, it was time to put an end to one of their biggest threats, it had to be done for all of mank-"
"Stand down Glynda!"
She stopped her train of thought hearing that voice.
Kron also found himself stopping and glaring at whoever was butting in.
Standing there with a cane in hand was Ozpin, looking calmly though with a frown on his face. He looked at Kron seeing that the state he was in, he never thought he'd see that look on him. Exhaustion, a desperate need to rest that he is hiding, badly.
And he turned his gaze towards the two students trapped in rock, and he glanced over at the woman he trusted with sending to aid from Weiss's call.
Finally, he looked at his associate, Glynda standing clearly ready to fight.
"Professor Goodwitch" He said calmly. "Please, stop all this." He said in a calmer tone.
Glynda glared and looked at Kron. Now she was far stronger than Ozpin, she can finish Kron here and now.
"Glynda," He said in a soothing voice. "Please, enough, I promise, we would all be better for it if he lives, if you kill him, it will only give Her an advantage."
That sentence seemed to have affected the huntress and she closed her eyes. She wanted to do this now, to protect her students. But if Ozpin is this incessant on it, then she knows there's some truth to what he's saying.
She merely waved her riding crop as the rocks surrounding the students fell releasing them from their prison.
Blake and Weiss were released unharmed.
Goodwitch glanced over at Ozpin not able to look at her students in the eye.
The headmaster didn't glare at her, he merely looked at her as if to silently tell her, that they will speak later. He then looked at Kron who was now unable to hide his exhaustion.
"I apologize, Professor Goodwitch had been against our arrangement, I will make sure she doesn't try anything like that again."
Kron didn't look relieved, to his shame, he truly was. Glynda could have killed him, and he was angry at himself for feeling that way.
"So, you didn't give the order?"
"No" Ozpin shook his head. "I assure you Kron, I intend to honor our agreement, so long as you do as well, you will fight Yang, and if she fails you will fight Raven. Just as we agreed."
The Saiyan was surprised to hear him say that. He had half a thought that he would say that, he was expecting him to take advantage of his wounded state and send Glynda at him.
"Fine whatever," Kron said as he turned ready to head home only to start falling.
He was seeing the pavement get closer and closer but stopped, but not on his own.
Kron turned his head and sees who caught him.
It was Blake helping him up, she looked at him with worry.
"Grr" The Saiyan still wasn't grateful just insulted. "Let me go." He said in a tired voice.
"Shut up" The Cat Faunus responded.
Seeing this Ozpin decided to ask something.
"Miss Belladonna, Miss Schnee"
The two turned to her with Blake still helping Kron up over her shoulder.
"Take Kron home, make sure he get's the rest he needs."
Weiss nodded and walked closer to help Blake with the load.
Blake looked over at Goodwitch and glared at her. She tried to kill someone who would have been her adopted brother after he saved her. She would make sure to remember that.
"Let me go" Kron said much quieter this time.
"No" The Cat Faunus said as she walked forward.
"Shut your mouth fool."
The Saiyan turned to see Weiss had said that.
Weiss crossed her arms and glared.
"Look at you, you can't do anything on your own right now." The heiress scolded. "You heard Ozpin, were not going to refuse him, you should thank him for this, and saving your life."
Kron growled and tried to move but he lacked the strength, he couldn't even push Blake away. He was too fatigued, too exhausted.
"Listen to her." Blake lectured making him stare at her. "We're helping you home, just like you helped us so shut it."
The Saiyan growled.
"I don't need help." His vision started to turn blank. "I, I don't…need…. anyone."
He lost consciousness as Blake still held him up.
Ozpin watched and couldn't help but smile. Even on the verge of consciousness, he was willing to fight. Truly a terrifying opponent.
One he hoped to turn against Salem.
And one he'll need to make sure knows he isn't their enemy.
He'll need to make sure Ironwood never finds out about this.
After all, just imagine the reaction he'd make knowing they had a chance to end him only to let it pass for a deal later down the line.
Ozpin has made many mistakes, more than any man, woman, or child.
He hoped to all, that this wasn't one of them.
Kron had saved both Weiss and Blake from Bertilak. And has shown the price of using the Belladonna family against him.
And Ozpin has stopped Glynda from ending Kron once and for all.
Why? And was it the wisest decision?
Find out next time on One's Own Path!
So remember even though Kron isn't the murder happy monster he used to be, he can still be triggered to go back to his roots and murder if he's pushed. Don't ever push the Blake or Kali button with him.
And we got to see Kron fight all out against Carmine and Bertilak, which was impressive, sadly Bertilak had to resort to hostages. And now he's dead.
This was the first time Kron was seen vulnerable, it was the best chance they had to finish him. And Ozpin refused.
Despite what some of u thought with Ch 45, Ozpin does want the deal to happen accordingly, he's got too much to gain not to. The next chapter will explain exactly why but I'm sure you guys know already.
At any rate, hope u guys enjoyed and look forward to the next.
Review Responses.
Saiyanwarrior22: Great to hear, hope u enjoyed this chapter to!
ZamasuAutonous22: Lol glad u enjoyed the beatdown. Don't worry I think you'll like Raven and Kron's rematch. So the regular Soul Dust brings you up to Maiden level, what these two used is ripened and a greater dose so their above Maiden level. And Salem might find away to upgrade Soul Dust even further.
Kron is spoiled by a constant wining streak. It's why he has little defense and gets hit by opponents weaker than him. So yeah Kron still has room for improvement.
And not gonna lie, I didn't think of that. I was only remembering how Shallot and Goku had heightened senses of smell, maybe their sense of smell is greater? Didn't really think of that.
epantoja521: Yep and one of them is put down permanently.
keybladelight: Perhaps we'll see.
ThatSaiyaGuy: Glad u liked it lol. Intersting call but that begs the question. If that's the case then why wouldn't Ozpin use it on Salem? In classic DB, it costed the user their life. And Ozpin always reincarnates so if it only costs that? Why wouldn't he use it on Salem and just lock her pot away? Is that really what it does or is there a price for it that even Ozpin wouldn't pay
Have fun thinking about it. I'll remember to credit you if your right.
And you were basically right, good job, maybe it didn't come out as u expected but I say it counts were in the right ballpark.
So Kron has gone all out before, back against Winter at the end, and she was completely helpless when he did, Bertalic with his Ripened Soul Dust lasted way longer even though he couldn't do much against him.
As for them interfering well they were thinking about it, but they were found and used as hostages. Poor girls at least Kron wasn't willing to let them get hurt.
As for Eclipse, don't worry we'll be seeing him again soon and we'll be seeing him fight Kron before the end of this arc. He needs to level up a bit first.
Your predictions on Yang, maybe, she's not the type to stay down for long. We'll see i think you'll like it.
Also thank u for letting me know lol really sorry about the errors you keep seeing, I think I might need to find a new way to write to avoid those mistakes I hope u at least can spot less of them here.
Ozpin did warn Kron that Roman will betray him if it suits him. Remember his last words were he will lie, cheat, and survive. He only teamed up with Kron because like in canon Cinder wouldn't tell Roman enough about her plan and Kron might've guaranteed his death. So he decided to make a deal with him, and now, he might have the means to betray him if he ever needs to. Let's hope he doesn't try it in front of Kron, you already saw what happens when you press the Kali and Blake button.
Lol, maybe one day Kron would resort to that, if u piss him off enough.
And thank u will but I still would like to try.
Eddyg125: She got closer when she didn't need to, you called it lol
ca409: If I did that, wouldn't all the non Ki users and non Maidens be unable to be strong enough to be relevant? Seems like in RWBY canon Aura users can't match or surpass Salem. Because if they could, Ozpin should know about it and it'd make him look really dumb if all along he or any Aura user could surpass Salem with Aura. And if they can't even surpass her then they wouldn't survive when it's time for space. Also the only way to get magic is to be a Maiden, and Maidens would only last long in space because of the Shrines I created in my story, in canon they would be too weak to do anything. And even my shrines would keep the Maidens limited. So I get why u think that, it just makes the issue that it turns non Maidens and non Ki users into canon fodder, even worse than the humans in dbz. Anyone can learn Ki if they had effective training.
Gamerlover78: Either of them would be overkill, Raditz would be enough.
Shadow-Proclamation8: I can see Kron trying to do it, I'm sure Ozpin has tried but maybe Kron could do it when he gets enough power.
Lelouch of Zero: Thank you i appreciate it.
And glad you enjoyed the Cinder 'Fight' lol.
Well Kron got to fight all out, sadly one of them pulled a cheap move. But at least he got to fight all out!
Ruenion: Cinder was counting on her bodyguards to either be enough to kill him or enough to distract him. Which she was right about.
sarmadsadiq95: Is it ever? Lol.
We'll see the fate of Raven, I hope you'll like it.
Kamencolin: Hope it was a good read and yep, it's just how his species would act like with Vegeta did with Bulma the first few years. Also lol I'll admit I watched Dovahkin vs Chosen Undead before writing the chapter.
WarmasterXI: Kron's a lot more selective of who he kills these days. Sadly they managed to get away all because of a cheap hostage move. But they'll get there's at some point.
And you maybe right about that, Salem doesn't expect to take care of Kron anytime soon, not that she's complaining.
Ok so on Wednesday, I'll let you know if I'll be able to post the chapter with a guest Review with my name, I hope I'll be able to but I'm going to spending time with my long time friend everyday so I hope u guys can understand.
Which I'm sure you do, u guys r cool with it whenever I say I can't add.
Anyway hope u guys enjoyed the chapter.
Have an awesome day! :)
