Small beams of sunlight peered through the dim room.

It was rather early in the morning, 4:30am.

The perfect time for the usually bespectacled beauty's favored activity to start the day.

Mii Konori, the aforementioned beauty, sat to the side of the bed.

She raised her arms up, and began to stretch her back, arms and legs, stopping when she felt a slight crack.

She sighed as she got up, and performed brief stretching exercises.

Switching on the lights of the bathroom, she discarded her sleeping garments, tossed them into the nearby laundry basket, and stepped in the shower.

Her drowsiness gradually faded as she felt the warm water envelop her body.

After caressing her hair she grabbed the shampoo from the rack on her side, and applied it unto her crown, the fragrant smell making her smile briefly.

She placed the shampoo back to its original place before grabbing the bottle of body wash.

She then squeezed a good amount of body wash to her hands, and applied it to her bare skin.

Time had been kind to the young beauty; it was only a few years ago that her petite frame grew tremendously.

She had a figure most girls would kill for, a bountiful chest, a slender yet toned waist, wide hips, plump thighs.

Konori could only sigh though, as the pain in her lower back subsided a little bit.

Ever since she grew Konori spent a considerable amount of work building up her upper back strength; still she had to deal with the chronic lower back pain as much as she tried.

Konori inwardly cursed the heavy mounds attached to her chest as she carefully rubbed the wash under her breasts.

Considerable time and attention was required to clean such an endowed body; it can start to sweat quite a bit under the breasts for example, thus making the area down there smell quite a lot over long periods of time. Hence the careful rubbing of body soap under her breasts.

After rinsing the entirety of her body under the shower she grabbed the showerhose on the side.

Adjusting the intensity of the sprayer, she carefully rinsed away all the remaining soap under her breasts.

Slight ticklish sensations from her chest made Konori squirm and giggle, but she was done quickly.

Grabbing the towel as she left the shower the alert on her phone rang.

Quickly wiping her hands she grabbed the phone to check her messages, if any.

It was an alert for her early morning jog.

4:50am.

Konori smiled. She still had time.

-

She was very careful to close the door behind her, seeing as the bed above her still hasn't stirred.

Going down to the balcony of the raised dormitory she tied the jacket around her hips, and began her morning jog.

The streets of District 7 were very quiet at dawn; the absence of students walking and chattering around, the ambience of the dimly lit world at dawn, and the presence of some convenience stores along the way for nightly travelers, made it perfect for jogging.

While there was nothing that prohibited anyone from jogging this early in the morning most don't seem to do so, as Konori only passed by a couple joggers as she continued her regular path.

Luckily, her dorm is in one of the safer areas of the district, so she wasn't worried by being attacked.

And if she were to be, woe betide to them.

Konori stopped her jogging, briefly pacing back and forth to catch her breath.

She checked the time on her watch.

5:10.

50 minutes until she's out for the office. Konori let out a heavy sigh, feeling her heartbeat slow down.

Konori took a moment to check her surroundings. It was peaceful out here, quiet as all can be.

The gentle wind rustling some of the trees nearby.

The slight droning sounds of the windmill a few meters away from her.

Konori could remember the days back then,

before Judgement,

before Academy City.

Back in her hometown she would use to walk around the street early in the day, alongside her old friends.

'Wonder how they're doing right now,' Konori thought with a chuckle.

Then her stomach began to grumble.

"All this running made me hungry, I can't believe it hasn't been that long," Konori said as she checked the watch again; 3 minutes had passed.

Luckily a convenience store was nearby.

As the automatic doors opened she was greeted by the sight of the cashier, currently expressionlessly reading on his phone.

"Excuse me?"

"Drinks are on the back, sandwiches right behind you," Konori looked to see that was case, "We've run out of smoothies but we're on it right away ma'am."

"No smoothies thanks." Konori said as she went to the back of the store.

Searching the coolers for something to drink she found her favorite.

"Score! And she said they don't sell these elsewhere." Konori grinned.

Looking over the aisle to check out the snacks they have she took out a chocolate energy bar.

Konori knocked on the counter a couple times.

The cashier dropped his phone to look up at her.

And stared.

Up to her face.

Then to her chest.

Then down.

She cleared her throat, which snapped him out of his trance.

Beep.

Beep.

"That'll be 120 yen, miss."

"Thanks," Konori replied.

Konori sat down on a table in front of the store and ate her breakfast.

'Might need a heavy meal afterwards,' Konori thought as she dropped the empty wrapper unto the table.

Reaching to her side she grabbed the milk carton.

Opening it up she placed the open spout of it to her lips.

She sighed in joy, placing the carton to her side.

"When it comes to milk, it's gotta be Musashino."

Happy memories played across her mind, simple times.

The times before things got worse.

Konori shook off the bad memories, and grabbed both the empty wrapper and half-drank carton, before leaving the park to go home.

It was 5:35.

-

Getting there she saw Kuroko and Uiharu. Hard at work as always. Judgement officers were expected to work as early as possible. Konori didn't consider herself strict enough to enforce a policy for tardiness however. As long as they show up it's fine. But she would be stern if they shirk responsibilities.

Konori found her desk. Going over to sit she saw the massive pile of paperwork on the desk.

Konori could only sigh.

"Yep, we'll be here a while."

Checking through all of the files was a nightmare. Apparently there was an attack just a few blocks away. Those few blocks away would reach to District 19.

Konori had to wonder how much she had missed through that time.

" 'Scratch marks similar to a tiger's claw marks", "five men critically wounded", "strands of webbing found", what the hell did I miss last night?" Konori asked to no one.

"Not much actually Chief. Apart from that it's the sameold stuff, students past curfew, delinquents, I get called in, rinse and repeat." Kuroko answered.

"Any news from AntiSkill? Are they taking us off this case or not?"

"Still on it, until further notice. They don't know if the Spider-Man's responsible for the attack on the Blightyards, so we're still on the lookout for him."

"Well that's just great. First we got some vigilante going around beating up people, and now the possibility of him going rogue? What a great way to start an already tedious day," Konori was frustrated.

Ever since the Vigilante's appearance the Head of Judgement had called on them to bring him in for questioning.

It would've been easy, had Kuroko suddenly taken cold feet.

The Scuffle from a few weeks ago had apparently changed Kuroko's view towards him. His involvement was a great boon to the forces sent there, and he also saved her junior from certain harm.

However some of the people involved in said Scuffle gave reports to their Head regarding "insubordination and lack of discipline".

Konori reprimanded Kuroko that day, but it seemed she underestimated her junior's stubbornness.

If she had her way Kuroko might've walked over to the main office and confront the Head themselves. Konori didn't want that heat, so she told her never to discuss anything regarding the Vigilante to anyone.

Konori wanted to take this guy in. It was Judgement' job after all, to keep up the peace.

But frankly, she thought that AntiSkill would've done a better job at doing this than them, considering that her branch's manpower is currently down to three, occasional help from outside Judgement notwithstanding. AntiSkill should've been the ones currently tracking him down, not them.

When she asked this Yomikawa had said, "Unless he starts killing, or operates beyond District 7 you girls will be fine," with an apologetic smile.

Konori only sighed, of course they had to deal with this guy by themselves.

Then the Judgement alert pops up. Springing into action Kuroko shifts out of the office, presumably to where trouble was.

Uiharu clicked the keys on her keyboard as she starts to direct the teleporter.

Konori wished she had her milk on the ready right now.

A minute later, Kuroko popped back into the office. Her uniform tattered but no worse for wear.

"So, what's it about? Some petty argument between friends, thugs harassing students?"

"The latter. Although there were a couple instances of the former on the way here." Kuroko replied to Konori's question.

"Alright, start with the first, as always," Konori leaned into her chair, as Kuroko took the small notebook out her skirt.

"Well, apparently these two girls were going out the alleyways, looking for a shortcut. Local mall, if I remember."

"Aren't there maps placed around every corner of the district? They could've saved us a whole lot of trouble if anyone bothered to read."

"If that was the case Konori-senpai, then we'd be out of a job," Uiharu said.

"We rarely get paid anyway, so. You were saying?"

"Continuing on, the two students go to a dead end, which I found them on. And when I got there, I saw a bunch of delinquents, spread out all over the alley."

"I reckon it's our dear old friend I guess who's behind this."

"Actually they said it wasn't him. The Red Man didn't save them." Kuroko said.

This got Konori's attention. Not only were her hands occupied with the Vigilante, now she had to deal with another one.

'Give me a break,' Konori moaned inside her head.

"The witnesses said he was a tall guy, with scraggly hair, and a large spider tattoo on his back. Or apparently it was, they didn't see clearly as he was wearing a wife beater-"

"Spider... tattoo?" Konori repeated those words.

"Yeah, he just took off his jacket before going ham on those thugs."

"What are the odds of someone like that hanging around the streets?" Uiharu chimed in.

"Forget that, what's the point of removing their jacket if they're going to leave identifiable traits to us?" Kuroko said

"A jacket will just restrict one's movement when fighting so him removing his jacket would be the proper course of action."

"And considering our mystery guy in red... but if that's the case how come no webbing at the scene?"

"Maybe he wanted to save some for next time? Who knows?"

"...Chief? You doing good?" Kuroko snapped her fingers in front of Konori, which took the bespectacled woman out of her momentary trance. "Still with us? What do you suppose we do?"

"Is he related to... this Spider-Man vigilante?"

"No not really. We didn't find any weblike substance around the area."

"I see. Then we have nothing to worry about."

"Uh what?"

"Return to your desk Kuroko. Rest for a while, we've got a long day ahead."

"Okay," replied the young officer as she walked to her desk.

'Of all the times,' Konori thought.

How long was it now? A few years ago she had left them, forged her own path, following that day. She was certain those days were behind her.

And now. 'Could it be?'

Something inside her stirred.

She had to get to the bottom of this.

However a call from a concerned citizen might put a damper on that plan. She answered the call quicker than Kuroko, and hearing the citizen's words made Konori widen her eyes in terror.

"What is it?"

"Gang fight, Seventh Mist. Gather all available officers for backup Uiharu, we're on the way there."

"Wait WHAT!?" Kuroko exclaimed. "What do you mean, gang war!? This just happened too fast!"

"Look Kuroko I know you have a lot of questions right now, but we need to go now. Time's a wasting."

"O-Okay," Kuroko said, still processing over the news.

Uiharu quickly went to work as the two officers teleported out of the office.

-

This was a shit-show.

Normally these battle would be done in secluded areas, where there are less chances of interference from Judgement and AntiSkill.

But this. This was unusual. And frightening to see.

The thousands, upon thousands, of thugs fighting it out in the open, caused Konori's heart to drop.

Glass were shattered, tables and chairs were overturned, and Kuroko worked constantly, teleporting innocents out of the violence while dealing with some of the thugs heading her way.

And Konori? She was steadily increasing the number of arrests in her record, quickly disarming, disabling and incapacitating anyone in her way.

Her power, Level 3 Clairvoyance, wasn't useful in a combat sense, hence her combat skills. Honed for 5 years thanks to Yomikawa's help she was a force to be reckoned with in battle.

There were limits however, to the types of people she could handle. And already was she starting to feel it.

Konori quickly looked behind her as a larger man ran towards her, pipe above him prepared to strike her. She lifted her leg up, and fired a kick to his solar plexus, knocking him out instantly.

Turning to her right she found herself in the crosshairs of a single charging thug, fist raised for another attack. Konori moves her head aside, sending the fist to attack air before turning her back towards his torso, and grabbing his arm uses the momentum of the attack to throw him to the ground.

Dazed, the thug was quickly knocked out by the Clairvoyant with a single kick to the chin.

Unfortunately she finds her arms trapped in a bear hug from behind, seeing in front of her a thug with a raised bat over her head. Only to meet Kuroko's feet planted into his cheek at high speeds, before her junior grabbed the bat and teleported away.

Konori used her attacker's shock to her advantage, sending a brutal headbutt to his nose, before pulling his ear towards her.

The pain of both his squashed nose and his ear pulled proved too much for the thug as he quickly let go but before he could grab his nose he felt a sharp palm strike to his chin, knocking him out instantly.

Konori and Kuroko continued fighting for more than 5 minutes. It seems that there were similar attacks in other parts of the district, and even those outside the district, as Uiharu earlier stated the others have had their hands full.

Konori lamented their current misfortune as he swings her elbow towards another thug's face.

"I'm running out of needles, I don't know how long I can keep this up!" She heard Kuroko yell over the earphone. Konori couldn't see her amidst the chaos surrounding her, but she could tell she was out of breath and is most likely perched somewhere away from the battle.

"Where are you Senpai!? I'll go get you out there now!"

"I don't know, I can barely see where I am," Konori yells while casually twisting her attacker's wrist, "Do what you can to make sure there are no civilian casualties! Disregard me and focus on rescuing civilians!"

"I can't do that, you'll get devoured by this horde! Where-"

"That's an order from your commanding officer, Kuroko Shirai! Do you hear me!" Konori found it difficult to talk and fight, countering an attack with a palm strike.

"...Yes Maam! But I'll comw back for you I promise!"

"I said-" Konori started to yell, but a sharp impact to the back of her head stopped her.

She didn't know whether it was intentional, or one of the thugs struck her while in the midst of battle. Konori's vision blurred, het surrounding starting to disappear. The sounds were beginning to fade away.

Her efforts to stay up were foiled as she was shoved to ground, and found herself straddled by a lean-looking delinquent, grasping her neck with her hands

She quickly rose her arms to try and loosen his grip but the gradual loss of consciousness sapped her strength.

Slowly but surely he would kill her. She was trapped.

She was going to die today.

Then the weight pinning her torso down had disappeared so quickly, as the thug's head was blown back by an unseen force. Konori, confused and slightly delirious, could only string a single word of "Kuroko?" before she found herself teleported away.

"Konori-senpai, are you okay!? Can you hear me!? Senpai!?"

"Uh, w-what...?" Konori weakly replied to her junior's words. The itch in her throat made Konori cough violently.

"Hey, we nearly got you out there before you lost consciousness. It's honestly a miracle he showed in the nick of time." Kuroko said, handing her superior bottled water.

Konori grabbed the bottle, drinking it contents slowly as to not choke. She turned around, seeing so many terrified civilians.

"Where are we?"

"The second floor. We're lucky the battle is down there, but it's rather unexpected to see no one here but some civilians. I managed to save as many as I could. But a couple of them were hit the worst," Kuroko said as she glanced to three currently attended-to victims, one a middle-aged man in a suit, and two of them a couple of college-aged students.

"It's a good thing this area's safe." Konori agreed.

Now the best she could do would be to wait for AntiSkill to deal with the-

"Wait, who's down there dealing with them!?" Konori was quick to get up but Kuroko stopped her from injuring herself.

"Don't worry, he's got this."

"He? What are you... Oh, you've gotta be kidding me," Konori sighed in frustration.

With Kuroko's help she and several of the rescued civilians peered down the ground floor, watching the battle take place.

And while there were a couple thugs wearing red, one particular man wearing red stood out.

Every movement he made wasn't efficient; he either ducked too low or too far. His fighting style was rough, inelegant and straightforward, much like a brawler.

But he was strong.

When he threw a larger man 2x his size towards a group of SkillOuts she could hear the people beside her cheer.

He was fast. Too fast, in fact, it appeared he had teleported at one point while fighting.

She saw him block an attack headed to his face, knock them out, backhand an approaching SkillOut, sweep another's legs, and deliver an uppercut to another SkillOut, all without missing a beat.

And then, the fabled power he possessed.

He jumped over a large group of SkillOuts, and with a flick of his wrists covered them all in a thick cocoon of webbing.

And it was this action he did, which momentarily stopped the fighting. All of them turned to the currently cocooned thugs on the ground, then to the red-wearing man.

Shock turned to confusion, to terror as some of them ran away from the battle.

The rest, however were emboldened from the battle enough to charge the lone man.

But it was fruitless as he dodged, ducked, and countered every single one of them.

Hearing reports and stories about the Red Man's combat prowess made her highly skeptical. She knew one other man who could take on hordes of SkillOuts by his lonesome with his bare hands, but he was always careful not to leave his back open, as it would create a weak spot that others can exploit.

Konori's head pounded in pain as she remembered her rookie mistake.

But now... Konori thought those reports were grossly downplaying his actions.

"Woah." Konori found herself saying.

Distant sirens from outside rang, which snapped all of the thugs, and the Red Man himself out of battle.

Very quickly did they run away to the exit, forcing Kuroko to teleport after them.

Konori glanced to her side as Kuroko vanished.

And when she looked down to the ground he was gone as well.

-

"How many fingers am I holding up?"

"Two."

"Give me a second."

"Aww, bright."

"Sorry dear, it'll just a moment. Alright, you have quite the concussion there. It's a good thing your partner managed to get you out there before things got any worse..."

Konori stopped focusing to the medic to look at the situation around her.

After AntiSkill came on the scene everyone was taken care of, the wounded and terrified treated, the SkillOuts arrested, and her and Kuroko told them of the events that went down.

"They aren't usually this brazen enough to attack at day, something's up. One way or another we need to monitor the situation even further.

Thanks for your help Konori-san." Yomikawa said to Konori.

With a nod she left the two officers to rest.

"...the stragglers, what happened to them?"

"Caught a few of them, and the others, well you can thank the Red Man- or should I say Spider-Man- for that."

"Just great. The Head's gonna hate this, even more now thanks to this mess." Konori groaned.

"I'll get him to join us, one way or another," Kuroko sounded driven.

Konori only nodded, suppressing the urge to roll her eyes.

"That... guy with the spider tattoo," Kuroko then started. "You don't think..."

"...I don't know, that's a bit of a stretch if you ask me."

"I know. But..."

"If there's a chance?"

"..."

"...Konori-san?"

"Forget it. Let's just go back."
