Chapter 4
Finding your ghost power.
In the many worlds of the afterlife, there was one above the others, it was above high in the sky, over the Soul Society. However, so high up you wouldn't be able to see it. This place was met for royalty as this was a flying kingdom. The Soul King Palace consists of several layers, with one layer suspended above the other. The lowest level consists of many buildings of the same style as that of Seireitei. From this, a large stairway leads upwards to a wide and flat expanse, with both areas at the base and top of these stairs being lined by rows of huge, circular pillars. Floating above are five discs with numerous buildings on each, while suspended higher still is a large cylindrical structure that has a conical top and bottom.
The main entrance into the palace is the surface path which consists of a long paneled path suspended in the air, leading to the inner portion of the Palace itself. Though in the cylindrical structure the Soul King, in his crystal structure missing his limbs, suspended with black chains, its strange four pupil eyes forced a prison to hold all reality. The Soul King is the most powerful being robbed of all heart, mind, and soul. Though in some strange way alive. In this room was another man who watched over.
He sat across the room.
Ichibē is a large and broad individual with a bald head, red eyes, bushy eyebrows, and a long black beard. He wears the standard shihakushō beneath a white, long-sleeved Haori decorated with the Royal Guard's emblem. The top of his uniform is open enough to expose his hairy chest. Around his neck, he wears a large set of red prayer beads and a pair of single-toothed tengu geta.
This was Ichibē, a member of the loyal guard and man who named everything in Soul Society. This being was in charge of this god. Sometimes he would watch for intruders but it was impossible to reach the soul places without any special aways. So there wasn't much to do. However, Ichibē had felt something off a couple of days ago but the spiritual energy of all the realms was fine and not out of balance. So the question was, what had happened?
Ichibē eyes widened as the soul king's body moved, more so its eyes. Ichibē had been a servant to the soul king since the beginning of the world. He knew every expression his lord would make due to serving him for many years and Ichibē knew that was anger. It was only once that Soul King showed anger and to that horrible realm. Ichibē remembered before hell, before anything, that world was always there. Ichibē tried to give it a name but his power was nothing compared to the infinite, so it demanded the green realm not to mention that wretched realm that caused so many souls to be abominations. Realms that had so many strange things, real monsters, wish-making fairies, and even bizarre talking sea life.
Ichibē stood up and walked out of the door of the place and gazed out into the sky. It would take a while for him to arrive at the soul society. He sat down and began to ponder. Perhaps it was nothing but a simple muscle spasm. No, he had to make sure in a couple weeks or so he would visit his Social Security and make sure his suspicions were put to rest. He strokes his beard and remembers all those horrible times. When fighting against ghosts.
"Hmph I remember when you nearly conquered everything, Pariah Dark, but those days are gone, the realm of green Is locked away, no spiritual pressure in the world could break that door," Ichibē said musing over days long past. Ichibē wondered about one subject that crept into his mind.
"I wonder if cloakwork still watches us," Ichibē said, laying his fist on his cheek. Then gave a soft laugh. "Who am I kidding, you always watch us, old man!"
In one house someone is sleeping alone in his white bed on a bamboo floor. Was Kensei getting excessive medical care as a large man?
Over the soul reaper was a large muscular man, wearing glasses, and a white T-shirt, blue pants tied around with an apron. He wore square-rimmed glasses and had very strangely styled his facial and regular hair. His hands were glowing with a green light as his hands hovered above the injury. Trying his best to heal the Kensei.
Hachi, Lisa, Hiyori, Mashiro, Rose, Love, Shinji, and Mashiro waited outside all of them showing a grim face but Mashiro had the worst one of them all. Her eyes showed no life and her fist was so tight that her knuckles became bone white.
"What the hell are we even doing, we should hunt the guy who did this to Kensei!" Hiyori yelled to the group. The other remains quiet. Shinji glanced at Mashiro who sat at the far end of the room. She was quiet and didn't want to speak. Many of them felt a sense of dread.
"Don't be an idiot!" Shinji said. "We don't even know what that thing was, we're not risking to take down some freak show, we can't risk Aizen knowing about us!" Shinji said. The other understood but Mashiro held her knees closer.
"I'm sorry guys, you would have had him, if I didn't mean to mess up," Mashiro said in a broken voice. Lisa walked over to Mashiro and gave a deep hug.
"It's not your fault you were angry and that thing was covered in Kensei blood," Lisa said trying to comfort her friend. Love decided to speak up in a cool manner.
"So we just gonna ignore the elephant in the room, We all know that wasn't a human soul," Love said.
"Those freaky green eyes and how dead the guy looked, soothing up I couldn't even feel any spiritual pressure emanating off that thing," Lisa said fixing her glasses. Hiyori had a stern face.
"Do you think it was made by Azien?" She spoke quietly, yet everyone had their attention on her.
"I doubt it," Kisuke said as he opened the sliding door. All eyes were on him as his hat shadowed his eyes. He tapped his cane on the ground in a thinking manner. This had to be the first time they saw Kisuke so puzzled. Mashiro had to ask if her captain was alright.
"Kisuke, how is Kensei doing," Mashiro asked. He waved his hand in a relaxed way.
"In a couple of days he should make a full recovery, If that hole was any closer to any internal organs, he would been pushing flowers," Kisuke said wanting to make sure not to scare anybody. Mashiro was relaxed but her fist was balled. No matter how many times she tried, that image of the person who did this to Kensei kept popping in her mind, those glowing green eyes angered her.
"If this was Aizen's work I would know it, not to mention the lack of spiritual pressure is a dead giveaway to something else," Kisuke said in a serious tone of voice. He pulled a small vile from his pocket, inside it was the glowing goo from the battle site. All their eyes narrowed at the strange substance.
"What is it," Hachi asked.
"I don't know, I'll be doing some research tonight on it. However it keeps moving," Kisuke said looking at the vile he couldn't help but laugh at what he saw tonight. Seeing this strange person whose name was allegedly called himself Keigo. "In a long time, I feel spooked,"
Shinji stood up and walked over to the doorway. Kisuke stopped him with his cane and glanced at him.
"And where do you think you're going, trying to find our spooky friend, we could've had a nice conversation if somebody didn't try to attack him," Kisuke said In a joking manner as he rolled his shoulders in a relaxed manner.
"I was trying to find that Thing! before it does more harm," Shinji said. Kisuke then pulled out a phone book and handed it to Vizard. Hiyori narrowed her eyes at Kisuke and was confused.
"What is this?" Shinji said.
"Yeah, what's the big idea? Are you calling us stupid you bum," Hiyori called out in anger. Kisuke pulled out a white fan and covered his face.
"This thing told us its name, if you want to find him look through the book, anyone got a problem with that," Kisuke said in an amused tone of voice. The Vizard couldn't argue with his logic, she grudgingly most of them began to scratch through the yellow pages. All except one who held her fist tight and stared at it. Mashiro Held her fist tight and gritted her teeth.
"You better pray I don't find you because I'm gonna turn your bones into dust when I'm through with you," Mashiro thought as she slowly stood and gave a heated stare out of the window.
Keigo barely got any sleep last night, still fixed on his own mistakes. He crumbled all day I was searching on his computer for any answers. Ghosts from all religions but nothing showed an answer to his problem. He looked at all news sources, a chat room full of alleged ghost hunters, and dark websites. The only thing that came close was an old incident report. In New York 1984 in June the document said that New York City was overrun by the dead and the city was saved by a group called the Ghostbusters. Keigo watched some of the commercials from this group. Keigo pinched the bridge of his nose in anger, this was some elaborate hoax to make money. Keigo held his head in defeat.
"Whatever do I hit a brick wall, I can't go back to that Vlad guy, he'll probably think I'm nuts. What can I do at this point?" Keigo asked out loud to himself. The sad teen was so lost in his thoughts, that he didn't hear his sister enter his room.
"Wow look at you, did you even get any sleep last night?" Mizuho asked as she stood with her hand on the door frame. Keigo slowly turned to her sister, showing his restless face.
"That's what you get when you play video games all night," Asano rolled her eyes and walked out.
Keigo rubbed his face and tried to get ready but he looked down at his hands and wondered what his next action would be.
"Maybe I should see what I'm capable of before I go all gun-ho," Keigo said as he stood and got ready for his day, his research into all the supernatural did lead to one place an abandoned temple, outside of town, Keigo thought he could visit and knew it was damn well out of the way, not to mention the big rumor about the area being haunted. Rumors of a Rokurokubi, a long-neck woman that tricks people.
Keigo walked down with a black hoodie and hands in his pockets. As he walked down, seeing the television was on, Mizuho was watching the television, eating her breakfast. Keigo was about to walk out the door. Then the channel switched to the news. It was the local news channel showing pictures of the destroyed city block, transitioning to the carnage. Keigo felt a chill down his spine and his hand clenched harder. Mizuho had read the text that slid across the screen while the news anchor discussed what happened.
"Hey, Keigo did you hear about this, apparently a gas line blew up and-," Mizuho stopped when she noticed Keigo was already out the door. Mizuho raised her eyebrow.
"Huh, what's he in a hurry for?" Mizuho said.
Keigo ran to that rumored abandoned temple as fast as he could. His legs kept working but he felt so tired he must run a mile but was lost of breath. Keigo, taking an opportunity, rushes into an alleyway and leans back on a wall.
"This is getting me nowhere. It will probably be dusk when I get there." Keigo said. Then his hair overshadowed his eyes.
"I guess I can see how far I can run," Keigo said out loud as he looked around to make sure he was alone. The empty space and lack of voices proved to be confirmation of that. He stood with a straight and strong stance closing his eyes and allowing himself to relax.
"I'm going ghost," Keigo whispered his battle cry. In truth wasn't sure if it was the command or the emotion that was able to let him transform, though when he spoke those words, I felt a confidence boost that he could do it like a child, declaring himself as a superhero it would make him believe in the impossible. Then two familiar rings of light transform him into a ghost. He of course was still in a black hoodie but his clothes underneath turned into that black and white jumpsuit.
Keigo glanced down at himself, now showing that signature smile he always wears. Keigo took a deep breath and pulled his hoodie over his head. Making sure no one saw his face. Not to mention those wackos with swords, he didn't wanna encounter them again. Especially since that green-haired one tried to kill him.
The young teenage ghost slowly walked out of the alleyway. Keigo started to build up his steps and jog at a steady pace.
Though Keigo felt that he wasn't even breaking a sweat he decided to push himself further. It was then Keigo realized the speed he was picking up. This was new for him, being fast. The people he ran by glanced at him. Keigo laughed at this ghost form, he felt so much spirit in his vain he could have reached for the stars.
"I'll be there in no time," Keigo thought with a smile.
Keigo took each step with great haste when he was in this form. Some spirits with their chains glanced at the strange boy, thinking of how free that person was.
Keigo still kept his goal in mind that he was going to defeat Striker, no matter what.
"Well, if my knowledge of manga has taught me anything I guess this is my training arc… THAT'S SO COOL!"
After an hour Keigo was there at the Red Gate. A Torii is commonly found in a Shinto shrine. There was a large gray stone courtyard in front of his nature, overtaking a very moss and vines, wrapping around every brick and step. The house shrine collapsed from the inside as the roof was inside.
Keigo glanced behind himself seeing how much ground he covered. It only took him half an hour to get here. And in the distance, he could see the town.
Keigo gave a cocky smile and proudly shrugged his shoulders like he accomplished something new.
"I guess I'm faster than I thought," Keigo said with a laugh. He walked into the courtyard and began to think about many things he could have done. Using striker as a base reference. He wanted to see if could do those green energy blasts. Keigo aimed for a rock holding out his palm and tried letting out an Ectoplasm blast.
Keigo tried to blast his hand and relaxed, he stood there for a couple of minutes, then realized he was floating a foot above the ground
"I guess shooting is not my strong suit," Keigo said out loud. He moved his legs and while floating in the air found it was so easy to do. He quickly wanted to stop and landed back on his feet.
Keigo had a mischievous smile as he kicked his feet, he jumped in the air and wanted to float, then like magic, Keigo was floating. He moved around but made sure he wasn't above the tree line not wanting to be seen. He lapped around the courtyard. Keigo immediately noticed how fast he was moving. It was like his body weighed nothing.
Keigo brought his attention toward the narrow woods ahead. "*Sniff* Couldn't hurt to try," Keigo said as he slowly flew into the woods. He wanted to see how fast he was so he picked the pace. Keigo thought it was pushing the gas into a car, you only need to push the pedal a little to move very fast. Keigo looked behind himself to how far he was from the shrine but could see his legs were gone, his lower section was now gone, replaced with a wispy tail that he would see from old cartoon shows depicting ghosts. Keigo had only one thing to say.
"MY LEGS," Keigo yelled, the young half-ghost forgot the most important rule about flying: never take your eyes off your path. Keigo smacked into a tree breaking right through it. Keigo then hit the next tree and fell down heading into a multitude of branches, then finally to the ground, with a loud thud of dirt. Keigo let out a painful growl as he stared up into the sky.
"That's normal for ghosts, don't forget OW!" Keigo let out a yelp of pain as laid there. Keigo quickly got up and felt okay. There was no significant damage to him and all his bones were in place. He quickly got up and had a smile on his face.
" I was flying that fast and crashed pretty hard…and I'm fine maybe, I'm more durable than I think," Keigo thought. It's just tightened and determined thinking of the possibilities.
"Well, I don't fall for things twice, let's hit it again," Keigo said as he jumped in the air and floated. Keigo noticed the more he used his powers, the easier it was for him to understand them. While floating he began to think about forming his legs into that wisp form. Keigo couldn't help but laugh at what happened. He floated around and found that his wisp bottom made it easier for him to move while in the air.
"Let's see how fast I can move," He zoomed through the forest, weaving through the trees a second time the wind corners became too sharp and he reached a tree dead on. Keigo relaxed and thought to turn in changeable, and like a reflex, he became ethereal and passed and fazed through the trees. Keigo's excitement built up as he began, repeating the process over and over again. Keigo kept flying and felt a burning passion build up inside of him. This was amazing. He felt free but He glanced up at the sky. Then his curious nature got the better of him, and he shot right up to the sky. All Keigo thought was to fly more to push himself. He had power and he needed to push himself.
Keigo kept soaring higher, not looking down only up, to that great blue sky and a sea of white fluffy clouds. Keigo wanted to see what was on the other side of those could. What person wouldn't want to see or reach this high in the sky? He was a Caress right now dangerously he needed to see how far he could go.
He was rocketing through the sky with an astounding speed. Keigo felt the wind on his face and hair. In a matter of seconds, he broke through that cloudy sea. When he reached the other side Keigo stopped moving, still floating in the sky. He glanced down feeling his stomach drop and his heart race. Could see he was miles in the air. No fear enters his mind, only the idea of new heights but in the past, he never thought he could reach.
He looked ahead to see the beauty of the horizon, while the bright shining sun shone upon this world. Keigo, an average human teenager in a strange turn of events, was blessed with ghostly powers. Keigo knew this wasn't the right thing, this wasn't the natural order, but at the same time, he couldn't even give a damn he jumped through the clouds like a salmon upstream doing a loop de loops, flying around without a care in the world. The young ghost knew one thing: he was free.
"WOO! HOO!" Keigo let out as he was flying like there was no tomorrow.
Keigo let out a stiff laugh and one reckless idea. He wondered how fast he could fly down. He shot down like a missile and spun while plummeting to the ground. It was amazing he was on edge and he didn't want to come down, then his acceleration reduced as he landed on the courtyard. His feet scattered across the stone floor, but he slowly pulled himself together and stuck the landing.
"This is awesome!" Keigo said with excitement. "Maybe I can beat Striker!"
"Getting a little ahead of ourselves, aren't we," A voice called out to Keigo. Keigo was so caught up in the excitement of knowing he could fly. Then Keigo felt a Sudden. She'll watch over him as a whisper, cold leaked from his mouth.
He answered the unknown voice.
"I don't, I just have this feeling and I-," Keigo stopped mid-sentence as quickly looked around, trying to see who was there.
"Hello, who's there," Keigo called out.
"That's strange, never seen an ability like that, a little whisper of cold from your maw like a radar," The voice said again. Keigo was on guard his ghost senses was only activated when he met Striker and oddly Vlad but he just thought that was strange.
"Turn around kid," The voice called out. Keigo a pun around and narrowed his eyes to see nothing but the shrine. Then he only needed to focus a little to see an invisible outline. It was his ghost eyes that could pick on this stranger but due to strangers' transparency, Keigo couldn't really make out any facial details.
"Who are you?" Keigo asked as we got into a fighting stance. The figure stood up and slowly walked down the steps of the shrine.
"Hm you seem new to this, I don't see ghosts who are excited to fly when they first die, I might as well make an introduction," The person finally revealed their presence. enveloped in a green flash of light now in real form. The ghost wore early Western clothing, that was beaten up, gray dress pants, and a white button-up shirt. On top of his head was a gray fedora. The ghost had short black hair, gray pale skin, and bright green eyes. He was slim and had a sharp chin. Keigo noticed the strange ghost hips that hung from his side were swords. On his left was a Wakizashi, a short katana blade, and on his right was an Odachi, a longer blade. The handles were tied in black and the scabbards were a bright red. With goldfish edge to the side.
"Well who am I, that hard I went by many titles and a retainer for someone important, My name is Yankii but you can tell me WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU doing ON MY SHRINE!" This ghost yelled out, being ticked off by Keigo. The young half-ghost backpedaled so much that he tripped over his own footing, and landed on his butt.
"Uh sorry, I didn't mean to intrude. I thought this place was abandoned," Keigo said, holding his arms up. Yankii narrowed his eyes and pointed a finger at Keigo.
"Listen, newbie, you just don't go around haunting somebody else's place, this is my shrine built for me, not you get it!" Yankii said.
"I was just trying to train. I thought this place was abandoned!" Keigo said, making his case. "I'm sorry didn't mean to upset you,"
Yankii had a plain look on his face and slowly reached out his hand. Offering his hand to help Keigo up. The young teen did so and gripped Yankii's hand feeling how cold it was. Then without warning was yanked to his feet, Yankii held Keigo's hand with an iron grip getting an eye on the young teen.
"What are you-," Keigo was cut off by Yankii.
"You seem pretty fresh to all this, When did you die?" Yankii asked. Keigo let out a nervous laugh and lied through his teeth.
"A couple of days ago, why do you ask?" Keigo said.
"Just curious," Yankii asked.
"Uh, it's funny people say there is a Rokurokubi in this area but it's just you, Eh," Keigo said. Yankii tilted his head at the answer. Then Keigo's eyes widened at Yankii's neck as it started to stretch and hover above Keigo. The young teen was a couple of feet away but somehow Yankii stretched it with ease.
"That's crazy, their no long-neck woman around here, But… Long neck man, I say theirs only one in the area."
Keigo froze with fear and felt like letting out a scream. Yankii's neck whipped back to normal as he smiled at the freaked-out Keigo.
"That's crazy!" Keigo said as his teeth chatted. Yankii was surprised at the Keigo's reaction.
Yankii still had a suspicious face but let go of the teen's hand. Keigo was glad but felt something crawl on his hand. Looking down at his palm he saw a stink bug. Then a cloud of stink blasted his face. Keigo let out a harsh cough as he waved the air around him. Yankii laughed at Keigo so hard he held his gut. Keigo had fallen for the childish prank. However, Yankii laughed a bit too hard and started to choke and grab his chest.
"Oh, that's hurt, It was worth it!" Yankii said regaining his composure.
"What the heck!" Keigo yelled glaring at Yankii.
"Relax kid I'm just pulling you're chain, I just got out of the ghost zone I just wanted a bit of fun," Yankii said as he walked to the shrine steps and sat down. "So you're pretty lucky right? Just died a couple of days ago and now you're right back in the world of the living, so what's this about Striker?"
Keigo was surprised at what this Yankii said. "You know Striker?" Keigo asked.
Yankii cleaned his ears with his pinky finger and flicked some green smile on the ground. "Tall baseball player doesn't stop talking about his glory days, yeah I know him, the question is why do you want to fight him,"
Keigo gulped he didn't want to tell anything or reveal any information that could risk him beating Striker. Keigo then thought deeply about what Ichigo would do in a situation like this. Keigo immediately put on a tough guy face and puffed out his chest.
"Just got to teach that punk some manners, what's it to you," Keigo said in a fake deep voice.
"Well, mostly two reasons why you're not gonna win, answer one you don't know how most of your powers work because you're fresh around the ears," Yankii stopped to pick something out of his teeth. "And two the most important thing is I think you have no idea how to fight,"
"Oh yeah, what makes you the expert!" Keigo yelled. Yankii had a naughty smile on his face and stood up grabbed his short sword and slowly pulled it out. Then he slashed slowly slashed it to his left, making a thin green wave in the tree only to dissipate in a matter of seconds.
"You don't have a scary face," Yankii said kicking a small stone at Keigo like a child who was
"I have my scary face!" Keigo braked. Then made a silly face while pulling on his cheeks and trying to act like a big Oni. Yankii shook his head in disapproval.
"No Like this!," Yankii said, then in an instant the area around Keigo froze as the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He was on edge but he didn't know why, he glanced at Yankii only to fall to his knees as the ghost's face was shaking violently, and Keigo could only see a blur. The blurry face began to form green eyes and a sharp haunting maw that screamed at Keigo.
The young teen felt sick and wanted to pass out, he felt pressure push him down to the ground as his face was mashed into the stone floor. He couldn't look up as it was fear holding him down. No grand power or divine will push Keigo down to the cold floor but pure fear is put into real form. Now crushing Keigo. Yankii walked over to Keigo his face still distorted.
"Still want to take on Striker now?" Yankii asked mockingly. Keigo shut his eyes, lord knows he wanted to say yes but he couldn't. He had to beat Striker and stop him. Keigo did the only thing he could do, that was try to stand up. Keigo felt his arm being pinned to the ground by that fear but he pushed through it even though his limp left they were going to rip off his body. Yankii could see Keigo wasn't giving up, this caused him to raise his brow.
"Why do you want to fight Striker?" Yankii's voice became deep and unsettling. Keigo could feel a dark chill run up his spine but didn't look up as he kept trying to push himself off the ground. Tears leaked from his eyes. This was the first time Keigo felt like he was going to die. However in the end it was still his duty to put an end to what he started.
"Because I opened that stupid portal and left him out," Keigo said in a choked-out scream. The young ghost felt sadness and the pain was being let out. Feeling the weight of his action for a long time, he kept pushing down this shame. When he let the monster out, so many things were happening to him. "He got out and, and - and a lot of people got hurt," Keigo started to feel his eyes water. Then his mind flashed back to when Kensei was impaled and how all those strange people only saw a monster.
"He's gonna destroy the town and it's all my fault, it's my fault!" Keigo said. Then Keigo felt the fear disappear and that weight is gone. Then a swift hand gripped his black hoodie, yanking him off the floor and face to face with Yankii who was normal.
"Then wipe away that sad look off your face because you got to start training now!" Yankii yelled as he pushed back at Keigo. Making the teen stumble back to his feet making some space between the two. Keigo was shocked to see that Yankii's face was normal. In a quick flash, Yankii drew his sword and slashed it to his left. A sharp wave of ghost energy slashed across a grove of trees, slicing them in half and the other grove behind them clearing an area. When the trees fell it left a bit of sunshine in. Covering the two ghosts in a heavenly light.
Then Yankii pointed his blade at Keigo and narrowed his eyes at the young half-ghost.
"Let us do battle," Yankii said. "Or are you too scared!'
Keigo relented and held his fist up, it was the first in his life that he wanted to fight someone he was shaking but he wanted to see what would happen if he tried. Keigo let out a battle cry, zoomed at Yankii, and tried to throw a punch at his face. Yankii took the punch to his face and stood there unfazed. Kegio fist wedged itself into Yankii's check.
Keigo took a nervous gulp as Yankii grabbed his arm, slowly pulling it away from his. Now fully dead eyeing Keigo. There was a moment of silence as Yankii glanced at Keigo with confusion. He spat some green smile. To Yankii's surprise, Keigo did know how to throw a punch.
"You do know how to throw a punch, not bad how you learn?" Yankii asked. Keigo sighed in defeat.
"My sister beats me up almost every day," Keigo answered. Yankii couldn't help but laugh.
"Hey, you got to understand combat somehow, Oh you might not want to get this close to your opponent without a backup plan because they could do something like this!" Yankii then grabbed Keigo's arm and lifted the young teen above his head with only one arm. Then slammed Keigo right back down to the stone surface. Keigo gulped and quickly turned his body intangible, fazing through the floor and in the dirt.
Keigo flew out and made some distance between himself and Yankii. The long-neck ghost clapped his hands seeing Keigo use his abilities.
"Nice reaction time but you could work on the landing a bit more, it's funny, dead for only a couple of days and you already got the hang of things, tell how's your ghost rays?"
"Ghost what?" Keigo asked who was completely confused by the question.
"Aw, I see the confusion allows me to demonstrate," Yankii said as he pulled out his sword and pointed it at Keigo. Then in a flash of green light, a concussive blast hit Keigo in the chest. Sending them falling down the long staircase that reaches down the hill behind him.
The fight mood immediately took a turn into an awkward silence as Keigo fell down in a cataclysmic tumble. Yankii paused and winced at the action.
"That looks like it hurts," Yankii said.
Currently at the bottom of the stairs, Keigo wobbly got up and put his hands on his back.
"Oh man that hurt," Keigo said. The young teen was slowly reading his actions and felt like now was the chance for him to run and never come back. Though he wouldn't, he wasn't gonna let anyone push him around anymore. This was his time to change, and finally prove himself in fighting delinquency, but he was sure going to make this guy Sorry.
Keigo flew in the air and landed back at the shrine courtyard, his fist ready to take this battle even further. Yankii was standing there, nonchalantly as if nothing had happened, but he did have a smile on his face when he saw the young half-ghost return and his sword was back in its scabbard.
"Oh not bad for endurance, look at yourself, you barely have a scratch on yourself colored me impressed, you got to listen to me. I have a crazy deal for you," Yankii said. Unfortunately, his words fell deaf on young Keigo's ears. Keigo was so hard set on beating Yankii that he charged wildly at him. He shot toward the Yankii like a torpedo. Yankii for the first time actually dodged the attack by jumping over Keigo.
Keigo didn't have any time and maneuvered right back at Yankii. Keigo threw both his fists, trying to punch Yankii, Keigo threw his fist at Yankii who caught it in his hand. Though there was a small shock wave. Yankii, I've taken a mental note of that.
"Interesting, his much stronger than normal ghosts, dang the kids got the tools but no experience," Yankii thought. He could feel the rage within the half-ghost, as it was like a burning inferno. It was scary if put in the wrong place. Keigo then threw his other fist but was sadly caught by Yankii again. The two were forced to the ground as they were now gridlocked. This strength match was becoming more intense as their heads even butted each other. comparable to two Rams who would not give up until the other yielded. Keigo had a fierce grin, while Yankii had an excited smile.
"You and I are in a stalemate, so give up I may not have that much combat experience or strength, but I can tell you for sure that I can take a beat down more than you can!" Keigo yelled with great pride. Yankii felt like he was holding back two giant hands.
"Damn, this kid really is underestimating himself, but this is far from a stalemate," Yankii thought. Then with all their strength, Keigo forgot one long detail about Yankii that was going to be sourly reminded. Yankii shot his neck back as it stretched back a mile away, his head stayed in place like someone was holding a slingshot that was ready to go off. Yankii smiled at Keigo as he gripped the young teen's hands. Keigo couldn't pull away and tried to become intangible but Yankii did the same. Still holding his grip.
"I'm sorry to say this kid but when a ghost goes intangible other ghosts that go intangible are able to touch them, if you were going to sorely rely on that tactic and I'm sorry to say you would have a wound it up in a casket before you threw the first punch," Yankii said then he gave a sly wink. "Nighty, nighty kid maybe a nap will take the edge off you,"
Keigo witnessed as Yankii's head bulleted towards him. Keigo was headbutted so hard he lost consciousness the moment Yankii's cranium hit his own. Keigo's eyes rolled back into his head as his back hit the floor. Yankii's head hovered over Keigo and checked to see if he was really knocked out.
"Aw Geez sorry about that but you really need to calm down," Yankii's eyes widened as a bright white light blinded him. He glanced down to see not a ghost but a young teenage boy pass out on the ground. Yankii's neck slicked back to normal as he had a shocked face.
"Shit!" Yankii said.
Keigo's eyes slowly opened seeing the sky had now been an Orange Dawn he felt his whole body ache and shake. He had put everything he had into a fight and the cold hard truth was he failed. Keigo couldn't bear it and felt tears run down his face. He put his hands over his eyes.
"I-i- I failed!" Keigo said. He was in a world of darkness and in this world, there was no light of him being a great warrior to stop what he had created.
"You're really putting too much doubt on yourself," Yankii's voice said. Keigo glanced down to see Yankii sitting by the end of Keigo's feet, staring off into the sunset. There was a pipe hanging from his mouth as he lazily smoked.
"Listen your ghost human thing, I don't know what you are but you shouldn't be focusing on all the bad, especially at your age," Yankii said. Keigo took a nervous gulp. Someone had found out what he was, and now that person didn't look like he cared.
"You saw me, I'm human," Keigo said in shock. Yankii let a big puff from his mouth as he took in a big sigh.
"You're a person and a good one from what I've heard and seen from you," Yankii admitted. Keigo was shocked this seemed like it was over but what now? What was the half-ghost to do? Keigo slowly sat up and watched the sunset as tears leaked from his eyes.
"I'm too weak to fight anyone I-," Keigo was cut off by a swift chop on top of his head. "OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR!"
"YOU'RE ACTING STUPIED!" Yankii yelled. Snapping at Kegio the teen wince. Yankii took a big sigh and pinched his nose. Though it was replaced with a smile.
"You want to fight ghosts like Striker and protect the town, well you got to learn first so I'm gonna lend you a hand got it," Yankii said as Keigo was confused and lost at what was happening in front of him.
"What,' Keigo said in a quiet shock. Yankii stood up and stretched.
"Listen I'll be your master and help you to be stronger so you can knock some sense into that dumbass," Yankii said then offered a hand to Keigo. The young teen took the hand and was hoisted up on his feet.
"Why?" Keigo asked.
"Because if you're taking full responsibility for opening the ghost portal. Then I owe you a debt, All I wanted to do in my afterlife was rest by my shrine, but I was trapped in the ghost zone, Keigo you helped me even unknowingly I still have to pay this debt, So I will teach you all I know to become a great ghost"
Keigo's eyes were full of hope and joy, it was like a call for him to keep going. The young teen bowed and showed his respect towards Yankii. Though Yankii began to walk towards his shrine. Leaving Keigo still bowing.
"Uh, what! Shouldn't we like begin training!" Keigo asked. Yankii kept walking with his hands in his pocket.
"Well do it tomorrow I'm too tired," Yankii said. Keigo was ticked off and balled his fist. "WHAT THE HECK YOU BUM!"
Yankii glared over his shoulder making Keigo shake in fear. "Hey~," Yankii said with a mean growl. Then his face turned into a calm doppy expression.
"Can you pick up some booze I haven't had a drink in a while," Yankii asked nonchalantly. Keigo gawked at what the man had just asked.
"I'm underage you jerk! I can't buy that stuff!" Keigo yelled as he stopped his foot in anger.
"Well theirs your first lesson ghost are sneaky, steal me some booze! Just get or no training." Yankii yelled making some reason. Keigo walked off in anger down the steps. Yankii couldn't help but laugh at the young man and sat down at his shrine.
"Well this is going to be interesting," Yankii said. "Though that damn kid knows how to throw a punch my check is still sore heh heh heh," Yankii laughed in amusement.
"Hey, things are finally kicking up,"
Keigo was walking in anger, thinking about the events that happened today being beaten up, knocked out, and finding a teacher. Then it dawned on him what had just happened and conspired he had found a teacher willing to teach him how to use his ghost powers.
Keigo raised his hands in the air and shouted at the top of his lungs.
"This is the best thing ever!"
Striker glared at the city from his baseball field and narrowed his eyes at the town. There was something off about it in his eyes. The ghost zone never had any of these hollows, soul reapers of Soul society. It all seemed crazy and things weren't adding up. There of course were doors in the ghost zone that led to strange places but never like this.
He needed time and a strategy to take this town down, right now he had one tactic that he was working on. It was taking him a while to learn. ectoplasm, if trained and used for many years, could be manipulated to do anything. striker knowing he was a ghost, and full of that energy could use it to his extent. Striker knew he was capable of hardening, that echo energy into extremely durable material.
The ghost walked to the edge of a destroyed forest like a life had been ripped out of it. Striker got into a pitcher stance and held it for a moment as a giant ball of glowing green energy formed in his hand. He smiled
Feeling the intoxicating energy. Then he threw the ball so hard. He broke the sound barrier and tunneled through the forest, making a vortex of air ripping the surrounding trees from the roots.
The ball had struck a Hill and completely obliterated it. Making a small green mushroom cloud as a face laughed as it dissipated through the air.
Striker smiled as he rolled his shoulders and admired his work.
"As soon as I get my soul ball ready, tough guys like the dude with the knife and swords are going to be chump change, then no one will forget my name,"
