Izuku takes advantage of the few minutes left before Aizawa enters the classroom to take a few last minute notes. He's currently writing in his free writing notebook where he writes quick notes of things to write more seriously on, or as Uraraka oh-so-caring calls it "the crack notebook."
He's quickly pulled out of his thoughts by his teacher walking into class, almost shredding his book with how fast he shoved it back in his bag. He's fine with Aizawa knowing about his "hero analysis for the future" books but god forbid he sees this one. It would be a train wreck mixed with a torture session and that is something he never wants to experience.
"Good job quieting down so fast, you've sped up by .7 seconds since the start of the year" Aizawa slides out of his sleeping bag still standing, something that would be awkward and embarrassing for anyone else but he somehow does it intimidatingly. "Today we will be working on your analysis skills, as you guys almost collectively failed the pop quiz on Monday"
"Aww Aizawa sensei come on! We didn't do that bad! Plus what is Midoriya going to do this whole time he's already a genius!" Mina is slunched over in her chair with an accusatory finger up in the air. A few other students yell out an agreement.
"Shut up" Aizawa turns his quirk on and immediately the whole class settles down, although not without a few pouts. "Midoriya will be helping with this today." What "I'm sure you all have received some help from him in the past, but today he will not only be working on his own analysis but talking you through how he does it. Midoriya come up here" WHAT? This has to be some sort of punishment, he's probably still mad about the bones.
"Uh Um, yes Aizawa sensei" shit shit shit "is there something you had in mind specifically for me to do" his teacher just shrugs and gestures in a way to say 'it's up to you.'
"Ohh Deku you should show them the crack notebook!! That could help us learn how to filter what analysis is useful and what to focus on! Also it'll be fun to see your train of thought!" Uraraka calls out from her desk, her grin is uncomfortably mischievous.
"Oh?" Aizawa raises his eyebrow "yes, why don't you tell us all about this 'crack notebook' I'm sure it'll be... entertaining at least" I'm dropping out to become a villain.
"Oh! Oh, okay yeah okay Uh sure" Izuku manages to stutter out some form of agreement. Bakugou snorts at this. He knows full well what the "crack notebook" is and exactly how this is going to go. Shit.
He grabs both notebooks and starts up to the front of the class. Aizawa moves to a seat towards the back of the class to watch as this goes down.
"So I have this notebook that I put notes in" duh "essentially if I have a thought that I can't fully pursue I write it down in there for later on when I can give it more attention. It also helps with keeping my notes organized and concise. Uraraka calls it the crack notebook because it is, admittedly a bit chaotic." Izuku gains some form of confidence at the lack of jests from his classmates, faces into full of encouragement and excitement.
"Um, I guess I can start with a few notes I have already sort of gone through. So one that I really want to actually experiment with is Amajiki senpais quirk." Oh god he'll regret this won't he "so as we know his quirk is Manifest which enables him to be able to, well, manifest physical characteristics of anything he's eaten. He often uses this by eating takoyaki and using octopus tentacles as both offense and capture. Alternatively, he eats clams for offense and defense. This is stuff that I would have written in my main notebooks" okay this is getting a bit easier, the whole class looks almost raptured in his speech. "So, theoretically, he could consume" big gulp, here comes the train wreck "a person, in some way, and gain their quirk" and there it is. The whole class almost immediately starts yelling.
"Ah I understand why you call it the crack notebook now" he actually has no idea who said that.
"I love this class" Jiro maybe?
"MIDORIYA! It is unbefitting a future hero to be considering cannibalism in such a manner!!" Definitely Iida.
"Midoriya, you're not really condoning cannibalism right...?" Ah that's Sero.
"Yeah man that's so not manly" yeah that's Kirishima
"What no of course I'm not condoning cannibalism!!" Izuku hands fly back and forth trying to regain control of the discussion so he can explain himself. "I'm not saying he should actually eat someone in the same way he would eat animal meat!!!"
"RAW???" Can be heard screamed from somewhere, he suspects it's Kaminari.
"Problem child please get on with this, you're supposed to be showing them your notebooks not talking about cannibalism" Izuku sincerely hopes his teacher regrets having him do this.
"Sorry Aizawa sensei!!" One more glance at his notebook and a deep breath. "Okay so we don't actually know what he has to consume in order to manifest, it could have to be definitive meat, but it could all be as simple as some blood or maybe even some hair follicles. So my theory is if he consumes a part of a person he could potentially manifest their quirk. It would likely only work with mutant quirks like Ojiros tail if it would even work in the first place." The class is silent for a second before
"Midoriya I'm sorry but I don't think I want to give Amajiki senpai any of my blood..." Ojiros voice breaks through the silence
"No no!! You don't have to I'm so sorry that was just an example of a mutant type quirk you don't have to at all!!" He is starting to regret ever letting anyone see his notebooks.
Aizawa can be seen in the back texting someone on his phone, Izuku decides not to think about that. His grin is far too terrifying to question. No regrets then.
"So the point of this is that, from this one thought that would ordinarily be thrown away immediately, for obvious reasons, led me to more important questions like how exactly his quirk works more than just surface level. Like what type of tissue works and if it's strictly for animal characteristics. Although humans are animals its not guaranteed what characteristics he would get from eating a human it's unknown if he will get something from that specific specimen or if it's just a generalized..." he goes off on a mutter storm and starts writing more in his more book.
"Okay I think that might be enough for today Midoriya, thank you. For the rest of the day you all can split into partners and try to think of alternate ways to use their quirk that they maybe haven't considered. Sometimes the more absurd the better." Aizawa dismissed Izuku back to his seat, not before handing him a note that says to head to gym gamma after school for a special training session. 'Oh this better be what I think it is' is the only thought that doesn't have something to do about whether or not Amajiki can manifest plants.
