Chapter 29: To Resist the Pull.

SO! Two big things I wanna share with you all today!

Firstly! The Drabbke series is up!! I've uploaded the first three chapters and it's under the name Wynial Short Stories! You can check it out in my stories on my profile if you'd like! I'm happy with how the first three came out, and will be working on the next few in the coming weeks!

The second thing! Is that I decided to reread my own story, as believed it or not, I haven't done in a good year or so ;0; And DANG! The spell errors! The random sentences or words that make no sense?! The random inaccurate plot points?? How did you people read this stuff lmao!

So I've taken it upon myself to see if I can fix some of the really bad bits and the inaccurate parts of the story, like in chapter 3 I said Kenzo was dead when Genki took over? I meant retired! Like damn son. So yes! I thought I'd go through and fix up the chapters? I've changed some sentences that make no sense, and even added in a few that weren't there, but need or felt like they should of been?

I didn't want to completely rewrite it, as it is nice to see how much I've improved over the years ;v; But I at least wanted to make it accurate, readable and up to date!

SO! If a chapter has the word, EDITED, at the top of it, it means I've gone through and hopefully fixed it up! I'm going to go through a few, maybe all idk?? So keep an eye out for that I guess teehee!

With all that out of the way! Enjoy this chapter and thank you again for reading! :000

This is based on the 2k12 series.

Chapter 29

Hopping down toward the lake's bank, the child made sure to alway check after each stone step for his three turtle companions, plodding along behind him unfazed.

And at the very last step, the boy leapt forwards, landing victoriously on the multi coloured pebbles with a yell. "We made it!!"

As he jumped, he managed to tuck his boat back into his arms just before it fell to the ground, and let out a relived breath as his mahogany eyes looked over the familiar and tranquil scenery.

The endless dark blue lake, the deep colour reflected off the night sky itself, and lit up by the stars and many lanterns of the fisherman still in the open water.

All around him, the forest covered the mountain sides breathed out, sending gushes of cold wintery wind over the wide open space. Bushes filled with berries and flowers lined the pebbled shore, aswell as leaves from the dying trees.

On the top of the mountains, leading to the city of Osaka many miles away, japanese orange lilies sprung out of the ground, making a field of orange flood their way. And behind the boy, hidden amongst the trees leading to the village, a few red spider lilies popped up from the shrubs and tree roots.

A small chirp sounded, as one of the turtles stopped beside him.

The boy peered down, and chuckled at the turtle as it tapped it's little arm against his shoe.

The bigger two turtles didn't stop however, and with great sped for a creature so small, ran staright passed the boy and plunged themselves into the water. Where beady black eyes then re-emerged to watch him from the deep blue.

The boy nodded in understanding, and held his boat high above his head for all to see. "Let's do this!" He shouted, showing off his gap-toothed grin.

Warm orange and blue colours stretched across the late spring sky, cooling the evening that had brought a heat to the city of New York.

The doors to an Antonio's pizzeria were flung open as three teenagers made their way out.

The scruffy boy of the group retrieved his bike chained by the side of the restaurant, and rejoined the two girls as they made their way down the alley.

The goth of the group patted her full stomach with an unamused frown, making sure to stick closely to the redhead. "I know they claimed that pizza was gluten free, but I definitely tasted gluten."

The hockey fiend rolled his eyes for the millionth time that evening, speeding up slightly to get to April's other side. "Thanks for hanging out with us, Irma. We really needed a chaperone." Casey said with pure sarcasm in his tone, not holding back his strong feelings on the other girls company.

Irma just smiled back, an unreadable and expressionless smile. "Anything I can do to help."

At this point, the redhead turned to the boy with an apologetic look, running a hand over her arm. "I guess I should of told you she was joining us, huh?"

Casey didn't agree with her, even though they both knew she should of said beforehand. Especially with his thoughts on the goth, and his very strong preference to stay away from her. "I'm guessing that's why the other two didn't come?" He quipped, jealous of the lucky two that didn't have to put up with Irma.

"They couldn't get out of training, you know that." April whispered quietly to him, facing away from the girl at her side. "And Irma was being... persistent, so I couldn't reschedule."

"Yeah, not creeptastic at all." Casey commented sending a look to the girl with his walnut coloured eyes.

But Irma was quick to stop, and swirl round to face the two of them with a groan.

"Do you blame me?" Irma scoffed, having been overhearing the last part of their hushed conversation. "It's either you, or that boyfriend of hers and his sister that have her hostage! What's a girl supposed to do to actually hang out with her bestfriend?" With a sour pout, she placed both hands on her hips, and glared the boy's way.

April was about to apologise for her recent absences, when all of a sudden, a small brown rat emerged from out of the garbage. Stopping and checking over the humans staring at it.

"Yah!" Casey screamed, horrified, startling the poor rodent away. "What the..."

I can't believe someone as big as you is afraid of a little rat." Irma grinned, enjoying the hard stare Casey sent her way.

A few seconds later, a shabby and unkempt tabby cat sprung out from the garbage can, hissing as it's rodent prey got away.

When the feline saw her meal had left, she seated herself politely, not minding the humans company, and began to groom her dirty orange paws.

"And I can't believe that rat was afraid of this adorable little kitty!" Gushed April as she reached out a hand to scratch the cat's chin. And once the tabby started up her contented purrs, April scooped her up, and began to snuggle the affectionate kitty close. "Aw!"

"I mean, rats are relatively harmless." The bespectacled girl spoke up, pushing said glasses further up her nose. "They also share many similarities to humans, which is why they're used in scientific experiments."

Casey glared in annoyance at the goth girl. To his ears, her voice was like nails on a chalkboard, a constant noise that never ceased. "Does she ever shut up?" He muttered to April.

But the redhead wasn't paying attention. She was too busy pampering the sweet cat. That was when she realized, "Little kitty doesn't have any tags..." She said sympathetically, she then turnt to Casey, a determined look on her face. "We can't just leave her here."

Irma's hands were quick to shoot up, shaking as April look to her with a pondering expression. "Don't look at me. I'm more of a rat person." She remarked, sending a glance to the alley behind her. She swore she had heard something moving just now...

"Catch you later, Irma."

At April's call, Irma completely forgot about the feeling of being watched, and swirled round hurriedly to see the redhead perched on the back of Casey's bike, kitty in hand, and hockey enthusiasts eager to leave. "Got to find this kitty a home."

"Sure. Ditch me again..." The gothic girl waved nonchalantly, but dropped her act when she noticed the two already biking down the street.

She tutted, and began to track back through the alleyway they had come from, unaware of red beady eyes watching her from the side... sneaking ever closer.

"One of these days, I'm gonna find out where you are always running off to, and then I'll-"

"AHH-!" Her scream faded fast, as the creature pounced, and silenced her.

Down in the dojo, the teenagers were preparing themselves for their evening training. They had all warmed up, ready for what their sensei would throw at them, but nothing could have prepared them for the lesson their he had proposed.

Leonardo, the unlucky victim of Splinter's training, shuffled unsurly on his feet, rubbing a tentative hand over his arm and watching his sensei. "I don't know, Master Splinter. This doesn't seem fair?"

"I assure you," Master Splinter said calmly, perking his ears up as he wrapped a white blindfold over his eyes. "It is not."

Even the others, kneeling at the side, gave the Ninja Master doubtful looks.

As his Father smiled, gesturing for him to attack, Leo put his issues aside and drew his katana. He charged, being as silent as possible on his large feet, and went to slash where his master stood. But like a blur of brown and maroon, Splinter disappeared from in front of him, and manifested at his side.

The others had fun watching the older turtle miss, laughing as he had to collect himself and realise Splinter had moved.

"Oh, man!" Mikey cried out, holding back a belly of laughter.

"A swing and a miss!" Raph called tauntingly.

When Leonardo got up from the floor, there was no irritation seen on his face, only the determination to learn from the lesson that his Father was teaching him.

The leader began to circle round, katana drawn close. His Father, mimicked this circle, perfectly in sync.

Ears perked upright listening to the tightening hands on the hilt, each step and breath his son took. "Blind fighting is more than honing your other senses. It is about perception and giving the illusion of control."

Leonardo leapt up, slicing horizontally, but Splinter bent himself backwards, avoiding the blade. He went to attack again, twirling with his sword while his Father dodge in a mesmerising dance. Each simple step to the side, was a calculated move.

"You may think you have the upper hand in the situation," Splinter said, dodging once again until he was able to seize his son's wrist. "You do not."

A punch and kick to the shell and legs, followed by a jab under his arm froze the blue-clad turtle, and he dropped to the floor wincing as a result. Momentarily dazed as his sensei claimed his katana from the floor.

More loud laughter erupted from the sidelines. While Miwa and Donatello tried to hold back their laughing fits, Mikey and Raph went all out.

"Looks like someone needs a shower!" Mikey cried, holding his sides from the wave of giggles.

"How's that floor tasting, Lame-enardo?" Raphael joked.

All four soon received a soild one handed whack across their heads, "Ow?!" They yelled, rubbing their heads as their master stood behind them with a smirk.

"It is not hard to sense loudmouths." Splinter remarked. But suddenly, a forceful thumping spread across his temple, moving all throughout his head like a vine wrapping around his mind. Pulling him into a strange and cold darkness.

He groaned, and held his head with one paw, cringing as this pull took hold, and he lost his grip on his mind.

His warm, human like amber eyes, vanished as he blinked, shifting to a pure, glowing red, like that of an albino rat.

"You, Hamatos!" Splinter addressed the four teens before him harshly, making them all flinch at his tone, and turn to watch him in unease.

Without warning, he rose Leo's katana above their heads, and fully intended on bringing it down onto them. "You will fall!-"

What could not be seen from the outside, was Splinter managing to take hold of his own mind again. Seeing his children in danger, he fought the darkness with more resolve, and pulled himself back. Where he now stood, faltering before his children, with a blade above them.

He all but threw the sword away, as if the very thought of the weapon caused him great harm. He dropped to his knees, and began to pant heavily. Which spurred the teens to rush to his side.

"Master Splinter, are you all right?" Leonardo asked, his own distress was mimicked by his sister and brothers.

But Splinter did not know how to answer them, much less face them. The image of his children's stunned faces was embedded in him. "I am sorry, my children." He managed out, which only caused more worry for the teens. "This is... Something is wrong..." He trailed off, something that was highly unusual for the well spoken master.

"Father?" Miwa asked with growing concern, crouching beside him and resting both hands on his shoulders.

He placed a paw over one of her hands, reassuring her of his wellbeing. But even he didn't feel reassured. "I must meditate. We will continue this training another time." With this, he got up, and turned himself away from his family.

Seeing that their sensei would not speak to them anymore, the teenagers decided to give him the space he wanted, and backed out of the Dojo.

"Yo, did you see that? Sensei gave me the crazy eyes!" Mikey exclaimed, whispering loudly to his siblings.

They all missed the way Splinter's ears dropped in guilt.

With training called off early, the Hamatos all went to the kitchen for dinner. The two humans of the group didn't even care to change out of their maroon shozuku's, considering they didn't even get to do any proper training.

However, the thought of eating was the last thing on any of their minds. Their concern for their sensei's strange behaviour was growing, but he had requested time alone. So they obeyed respectfully, and instead, went off in separate ways.

Donatello decided to get in a few more hours of lab work before nightfall, and quickly found himself getting back into the rhythm of mixing the chemicals in their beakers.

Usually, Metalhead would assist with this process, but the turtle-robot was currently missing an arm. And a more pressing issue, was that he had sustained some damage, physically and internally, from when the Kraang were firing at him last week. He was currently in a sleep mode, recharging and updating his systems, while Donnie fixed up a new hand.

But Donnie wasn't completely alone in the lab, for Michelangelo, wanting to spend time with his little bro, decided to help out with the retro-mutagen experiments.

And he would of been helping too, if the help needed for this particular test was demolishing seven scoops of neapolitan ice cream within five minutes.

The light green turtle perched himself on top of the desk connected to Donnie's, watching and munching as his brother worked to pour some sort of pink liquid into the mutagen he was working on.

And just as Donnie began to pour the liquid in, Mikey spoke up from between licks of chocolate. "So I wonder what got into Master Splin- Aah!!" He burst out screaming, alarming Donnie so much, that he almost spilt the pink liquid onto the floor.

"Aah! Brain freeze!" Mikey cried, clutching his head as a rain of strawberry fell around the beaker of mutagen.

Donnie groaned in annoyance at the state of his desk. "Mikey! You're making a mess!" He spun round on his chair with a sigh, and went to grab another liquid to add into the pink. "Keep your ice cream away from my experiment!"

"Sorry, D!" Mikey said apologetically.

To which Donnie just sighed, shaking his head, "Don't you have that 'top secret project' of yours to work on?"

"Psstt! Yeah!" The turtle grinned, "It's almost I'll have you know. And it's going to be awesome!" Just as Mikey said this, a lone drop of ice cream fell from his cone, and into the mutagen.

Mikey gasped in horror as the jar began to overflow with a weird brownish froth, leaking over the other side of the desk.

"If you say so..." Donnie said distracted, spinning back around to add the chemicals. However, as he went to do this, his view was blocked by a plastron.

Mikey laid across the desk, winking and slurping his melting ice cream with a face that screamed his innocent was all a ruse.

Donatello was immediately suspicious, but before he could confront the turtle, the garage doors on the opposite side of the lab flew up, and April appeared round the corner. A sly smile on her face, as her hands remained behind her back.

"Hey, guys! What's up?" She asked playfully, making her way into the lab.

"April!" Donnie chimed with a gap-toothed grin, which brought an even bigger smile to the redhead. That was until April's current company stepped round the corner.

"And... Casey?" Donnie added almost dully.

"Donatello." Said Casey with the same expression.

Seeing the weird tension between the two, April stepped forwards and coughed for attention from the three boys. "I came to see if you guys could look after... this!" She then pulled out the stray cat, it's slinky lower body was floppy as it stayed contently in her hands.

With wide baby blue eyes, Mikey locked onto the cat, forgetting everything else in the world instantly.

He dropped his ice cream onto the other desk and ran forwards at light breaking speed.

"Aaw! Look at you!" Mikey exclaims in pure adoration, seizing the cat from April's hands and jiggling the feline in his hands like an accordion. "Coochie woochie woo!" As he cooed over the kitty, she began to purr quiet loudly, clearly frilled with the turtle.

Seeing the kitty was in good hands, April decided to leave Mikey be and assist her stressed looking boyfriend out. "You need any help here, goggles?" She smirked, pulling said item further up his head so she could see his eyes better.

"A-actually, yeah that'd be great!" Donnie flushed, the nickname having caught him off guard. He brushed a hand over his neck, past his shoulder length hair.

"Of course, I can see that Mikey is... stressing you out a little?" April interpreted this as his source of stress, but knew Mikey probably didn't mean any harm.

Donnie was about to mention Splinter's weird behaviour in training, but decided to leave it for now. Sensei said he wanted alone time, and April was stubborn when it came to helping others. Even Splinter.

"You could say that... But he means well." Donnie reassured her as the two glanced at Mikey spinning around with the kitty.

Then, Donnie remembered there was a fourth person in the room, and a new source of stress in his precious lab. He shot only a look to the boy in the doorway. "You on the other hand-"

"Relax!" Casey said with a shrug, strolling ideally into the lab with his hands pocketed. "I won't mess with your experiment or whatever."

The scruffy teens walnut eyes then landed on the vehicles parked outside of the lab on the railway. A project he had seen only once, before being shooed away by Donnie.

Casey had quickly learnt that Donnie was very possessive of his 'Inventions'. But that didn't stop him from trying to get his hands on them. "What I am gunna do, is have a look at the Go-Karts!" He started to make his way toward them, wiggling his fingers with a manic grin.

"For the last time! It's a patrol buggy!" Donnie snapped, pointing at the boy to stop. "And don't touch them! They're still not ready yet." Which wasn't exactly a lie.

Donnie had started the patrol buggies a week ago now after Mikey had mentioned how cool it'd be to just 'drive around the city during patrols', and the idea stuck. The orange-clad turtle helped with a few of the design choices, and even Leo and Miwa had added their own opinions.

When Donnie had asked Raph if he'd like to add anything, he simple gruffed out how a motorcycle would of been cool.

After the initial design stage was over, the young genius got to work, but recently, it felt as if his mind had just been busy with other things. He chalked it all up to the retro-mutagen. Which was quickly taking up all his thoughts, and even his sleeping hours.

Sometimes, his family would catch him drifting off at meals because he would be thinking of new formulas and equations, and no matter how much he tried to relax, or take a break or meditate with Splinter's help, he couldn't focus on anything else...

"Donnie! Can we keep her?" Mikey pleaded from the desk where he set the cat down to wonder. Said Kitty was currently licking up the melted ice cream, while Mikey was fighting hard not to melt from the cuteness overload.

"You know, Master Splinter is a rat?" Donnie felt the need to point out the obvious, even if his brother remained oblivious to that point, shrugging him off and going back to watching the Kitty.

"Yeah, what if that cat goes nuts and attacks him?" Casey smirked, finding the idea somehow amusing. "She could feed off his body for months!"

Donnie and April stared at him for a moment, before the girl shook her head with a sigh.

"You know, there is something seriously wrong with you..." Donnie commented dryly.

A pained cat meow had Mikey pivoting on the spot. He stopped dead, and felt the colour leave his face when he saw that the cat was licking up the frothy mutagen he had dropped ice cream into earlier.

He gasped in terror as the cat's eyes and mouth began to glow mutagen green, and the feline started meowing louder. "No, no, no, no, no, no!!"

But there was nothing he could do, as the poor Kitty let out a distorted yowl she started to actually melt. Her flesh and fur soon changed into a liquid substance, even her bones, to the point that she could no longer hold herself up.

The cat dropped onto the desk with a soft thud. And became no more then a puddle of pink, brown and white.

Tears welled up in his eyes, and Mikey could only stare in pure disbelief at what he'd just caused. He lowered his head, and slammed it against the desk. "What have I done?!" He cried in despair, wrapping his arms over his scaly head.

"Meow?"

Michelangelo heard the sound and instantly shot up, gapping as the puddle of ice cream reformed before his eyes, shifting to form a tail, two droopy arms with tiny paws, and a cat like head. Where a ginger cat once stood, now a pile of frozen goodness sat.

The Kitty's orange stripey pelt, was now a swirl of neapolitan ice cream. Vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. Her once big green eyes, were now small and beady chocolate chips.

The jiggly ice cream cat flopped it's head to one side, and meowed at Mikey once again. But he was currently stuck in a mixture of emotions. Relief, awe, fear, but mainly shock.

"Everything okay, Mikey?"

April's voice drifted over from where Donnie was currently blocking the garage exit from Casey, who was trying to find a way past the Ninja without getting flipped over. Again.

With flushed freckled cheeks, he swirled round to face her and the others, trying his best to keep a calm and relaxed face the whole time. "Yeah, yeah, it's cold. I mean cool. Everything's cool." He said, failing miserably to secretly hide the cat meowing behind him. "Cool like ice cream. Ice cream's cold."

He chuckled awkwardly, feeling beads of sweat run down his face as Donnie stares, narrowing his already slanted eyes on him.

However, before his brother could ask him any questions, he turnt on the spot, scopping up as much of the ice cream cat as he could before running away from the scene of the crime.

Leaving Don, April and Casey bewildered by his strange antics.

Just before Donnie could excuse himself to chase down the shady turtle though, he caught sight of the frothing mutagen on his desk, leaking all over the floor. "Aah! My experiment!!"

As the two science savvy teens ran to stop the overflowing mutagen, Casey slunk his way towards a nearby tool box and swiped a few items, before sneaking off to the buggies with a grin.

Back in the Dojo, light was now barely shining through the grates above the tree, leaving the room with a dim light as Splinter tried to meditate.

He sat in front of the small cupboard shrine. Glancing over the many photos of his wife, and even her wedding ring beside incense and candles. He focused on the picture of his daughter when she was a baby in his Shen's arms. How he wished to see Shen smile like that again...

He looked at the photograph of Miwa as a toddler, proudly showing off her mutant baby brother's to the camera her Father held. All three turtles were smaller then a regular baby, with big cheeks and beady eyes. A warm feeling of nostalgia grow as his mind focused on the last photo.

A photograph from Christmas last year. Of himself, and Mr O'Neil. April and all his children. Which included his newest son, all sat round the living area with party hats and smiles.

Breathing in deep while performing hand movements to encourage a sense of peace in his mind, He focused his mind only on his family to keep him grounded.

Then, red eyes flashed into his vision, hypnotic, blood shot and desperate.

Splinter furrowed his brows as he forced the image away, changing his focus back to his children. But then, the face appeared. It's dry and wrinkled green skin, clinging too tightly to the skeleton it covered.

"No..." Splinter tried harder to rid himself of the figure from his past, but nothing seemed to work.

Then, the face smiled, a creepy and disturbed smile. His decaying teeth barely touched, and his lips, were practically non existent.

Like that of a possessive child, winning back his unfairly given prize, the red eyed man laughed deeply into Splinter's mind, pulling him downward with his echo, into the darkness.

"No! I defeated you. You were gone!" Splinter yelled out to the endless cold void, before running on all fours deeper in, trying to find an escape from his own mind.

"I am never gone." The familiar voice reassured him sickly, his red eyes lingered over the trapped rat. "I live, because you live."

Splinter stopped, feeling the pulling in his mind become stronger, harder to ignore... "Get out of my mind!" He demanded, gripping the sides of his head.

Then, he felt a pull from his chest.

He looked down, to see his maroon coloured aura flickering within him. But then, it was ripped out, put on display in this dark hell where it shifted itself into Splinter's truest self...

The human was strange to see at first, and Splinter felt a pang of sadness hit him when the human man formed before him.

Hamato Yoshi, a maroon painted ghost of a past Splinter once knew, looked into his eyes, meeting the same stunned amber.

"I'm even deeper than your mind." The voice revealed, showing Yoshi his aura. "I'm inside your very soul."

Before either the rat or man could break eye contact, a bandaged up hand tore it's way through the void's ground. Boney, pale fingers wrapped around the aura, sealing away all that was left of the rat master's humanity. "You will give everything to your King! Your Rat King!"

Refocusing his mind, Splinter forced his hands forwards in a circle gesture, trying to hold together his fraying mind. "No! You have no control over me!" He stated firmly, pushing the invading presence from his mind.

"I have, what I came for..." The voice spoke, before a forceful surge of chi pushed him from Splinter's being.

Hearing his own heavy pants, Splinter opened his eyes to see he was still holding his hands outward. Towards his many pictures of his family. Of his own human self.

He felt the voice already trying to tap back into his mind, like an intrusive thought that would not leave.

The stoic man felt the weight of the situation on his shoulders, and he grabbed at his muzzle and winced. He was losing to this monster, he could feel his humanity slip further away each time... And his family would pay the price if he were to fully lose control. Again...

Taking in a few deep breaths, he resigned himself to meditate for the rest of the night. He had to get control over this, even if it exhausted him physically and mentally.

He would not harm his children again.

A fast paced shuffle could be heard as Michelangelo ran to the kitchen, all but throwing the freezer doors open and placing the dripping ice cream cat inside.

The kitty purred, taking an immediate liking to her new box shaped house.

"Don't worry, my little friend." Mikey said with a sweet voice, soothing the cat as she made her self at home. "This will keep you from melting. Until I use my scientific genius to figure something out." He said with a promising smile, and the cat licked her new owner on his nose, leaving a little ice cream behind.

Mikey licked it off with a delighted smile, and a little happy dance. "You taste so good, my little ice cream Kitty!" The freckled turtle then licked her nose back, and hugged himself when she purred, he was half tempted to lick her little strawberry cheeks, when...

"Mikey?"

In just a few milliseconds, Mikey spun round and slammed the door of the freezer with such force that it shook. He clasped the fridge behind his back, and shrunk his head slightly into his shell at the shock.

His siblings and friends were around the table, and all eyes were on him. His brother's stood in shock, while Miwa and April stared in stunned confusion. Casey on the other hand, nodded with a smug grin.

Grains of rice fell over Mikey's head as the bag on top of the fridge fell from the shaking. He didn't know why they had all suddenly appeared, maybe for a late dinner? But what was most important right now, was that they had caught him!

The best thing he thought he could do was just tell them the truth, especially before they came up with their own accusations.

So, taking in a stuttering breath, Mikey tried to speak his truth. Which ended up being him, lying through his teeth. "Uh, I didn't do it! I swear I never touched it! And-"

"What are you babbling about?" Raph snapped at the rambling turtle.

Mikey blinked, and realised his lie wasn't entirely up yet. He had to play it cool now. No suspicious movements. "N-nothing?" He grinned nervously, rubbing his head before changing the subject. "When did you guys get here?"

"Long enough to see you doing... whatever the heck that was?" Miwa commented in disgust, gesturing to the turtle with a dumb grin on his face. "We came here for dinner, but-"

Before anything more could be said, the curtains to the kitchen shifted aside, and Splinter walked slowly in.

He weighed heavily down against his cane, and looked exhausted beyond belief, in fact, his worn appearance alone had the teens instantly concerned.

As he made his way in, he grunted lowly, a hand holding his head while the other supported his weight. "Need ice... for my head." He made it to the freezer, and reached for the door. "And... possibly a Cheesicle..."

Terror rushed at Mikey as his Father reached upwards, and he practically threw himself back at the door.

"You can't do that!" Mikey said fear-stricken, slamming the half opened door closed, "No, Sensei!"

"No?" Splinter questioned his son in a dangerous tone, one that left everybody standing in panic. "You tell me... NO!?" His amber eyes changed into albino red, and he screamed out, clutching his head and crumbling to the floor in pain.

But now, his mind was gone.

The rat struck out, sending Mikey rolling into the cupboards and began crawling around on all fours, hissing and chasing after the orange-clad turtle as he ran for his life.

The other teens had to duck as Splinter ran around the small room, whipping his tail around and snarling like an animal as he chased his son.

Casey tried to make a getaway, but as Splinter passed by him again, he hid under the table, trembling in fear.

"No!" Miwa cried out as she and the other elder teens ran after Splinter. But her cry was not from fear, but desperation, "Not again!"

"Again?!" Donnie and Casey yelled in unison, before the older had to take cover under the table again.

"This is not helping my whole rat thing!" Casey whined, pulling a wrench he found beside him close to his chest, as Splinter slunk past him.

The rat managed to trip Mikey up, where the smaller mutant then he hurriedly scooted towards the fridge, staring up into his Father's red eyes in fear.

Just as he was about to pounce, Leonardo seized hold of Splinter's head and neck, and dropped him down onto the table. "Help him!" He cried desperately as Miwa and Raph quickly grabbed hold of his arms and legs. April too, ran forwards and held his tail still, which he tried to whip at the teenagers.

After a moment of hesitation, Donnie also made for the rat, grabbing an arm and pinning him with the others.

"Father!" Miwa yelled loudly over her Father's feral snarls, "Modotte kite kudasai! 'Please come back!'"

But even with all the teens pinning him down, Splinter was able to fling them all off, where he stood on the table, revelling in his fallen enemies.

"I've got what I came for!" Splinter spoke in a distorted voice that didn't sound like his own, one that was haunting for his children to hear. "Soon New York! And the world, will be mine!" The rat clasped his hands together, and blinked away the red from his eyes, where he collapsed to the table in exhaustion.

"Father!" Miwa cried, and all the other teens joined her in helping Splinter sit upright.

"Sensei, are you okay?" Leo questioned, checking over him for injuries.

"What happened?" April asked, unsurly.

With worry clear in his voice, Splinter faced his scared children and their friends. "The Rat King... has returned."

The older teens stiffened at his words, knowing their old foes ways, their Father, as well as themselves, were in danger.

"Um?" Donnie spoke up, wearing a clearly puzzled expression. "Can someone please explain what the heck just happened?" He snapped, "Who's the Rat King?"

"Why did he try to eat me!?" Casey also chimed in, pointing to his face and holding back the urge to scream.

Raph shook his head, and answered gruffly, "He's some creep in a halloween costume that controls all the rats in the city. Including-" He stopped himself, and glanced regretfully to his Father.

"Don't you two remember that whole rat infestation last year?" Leo asked confused, "You were in the city when it happened?"

Casey shuddered at the memory from his spot near the exit, he and his equally as scared Dad had camped out in the house for days, and his sister still made fun of them both to this day.

"Uhh..." Donatello thought back, and remembered a night that Bradford had barged into his lab, covered with scratches and tiny bites marks. He had apparently been calling him all day, but he hadn't realised. He was too occupied with his latest invention, which at the time, had been Metalhead.

Bradford gave him an ear full for not paying attention to the time, being overly dramatic about how he had to wade his way through a flood of rats just to get to the headquarters.

But Donnie had thought he was just exaggerating the already rat filled streets.

The brunet realised with flushed cheeks, that he had apparently missed an entire mass infestation of rats in the city. And had no clue about until almost a half a year later.

"Uh... sort of?" Donnie answered sheepishly, rubbing a hand over his neck.

Leonardo exhaled, and continued on. "Either way, he took control of every rat, and made them do his bidding. So that he could take over the world."

"He took over Father's mind last time." Miwa said darkly, holding her Father's paw close to her chest for comfort. "And made him almost kill-" She stopped herself, for his sake. "The Rat King, almost killed Leo."

"And now... He's back?" Donnie asked rhetorically. This was definitely a bad situation for them all to be in.

"It would appear so." Splinter said grimly to himself, getting off the table with his children's help, and making his way into the living area for air.

"Great!" Casey whined sarcastically, "Absolutely fantastic..."

Up on the surface, night had finally fallen. Bringing with it, a threat that moved in numbers through the shadowy city.

A lone white rat hissed as a women walked past him, before making after the pipes at the side of an apartment.

He scurried upward and made it to the roof, where he was joined by many other rats also converging at the billboard overlooking the city.

Cloaked in a long black rode, with a large circle brimmed hat to match, a man stood atop the roof, revelling in his rat minions praise.

The pale bandaged man stared off into the city, but not through his own eyes. The white rat perched upon his shoulder, chittering to itself was his source of sight. He had to look through those beady red eyes to see, for his own experiment months ago had left him blind.

"Go forth, my rat warriors! You know what you must do." The Rat King ordered, holding his boney hand out to the city, "Attack!"

Acting immediately to their king's order, beastly rats creatures burst out from the sewers all over the city, shrieking and chasing after unsuspecting humans.

But these were no ordinaryrats. They were clearly mutants of some kind. From their noses to their tails, they probably measured about ten or fifteen feet. They had large hunched backs with black, matted fur. Scaly long tails, and claws that could shatter bricks. And deformed, wrinkled faces with big and sharp, orange teeth.

Their rampage on the city didn't relent, even as a storm blow in, drowning out the evil cackles of the Rat King. He watched with pleasure as his mutant army dragged screaming humans into the dark sewers he and his rats were subjected too.

They destroyed all they came into contact with, cars, buildings and parks alike. And ended up kidnapping over fifteen people within the first few minutes of being on the surface.

"Look at it, Aristotle." The Rat King said to his favourite rat, a repulsive smile spread across his face as the white rat chirped happily. "Such beautiful chaos. I can see it through every pair of rodent eyes. Soon, this world will belong to our rat brethren... With me as King!" He laughed into the mayhem filled streets, watching through one of his giant rats eyes as it clamped down onto a man's leg, making him cry out in pain.

Back in the sewers, the teens and their master watched on in shock as giant rats flooded the news channels, one cameracrew in particular, even had the guts to walk right up to one and film in front of it.

"This is Joan Grody reporting live from Bleecker street, where giant rats have emerged from the sewers." A middle-aged woman with blond hair explained. Her cameraman made sure to get the rat in beside her. "These revolting rodents are snatching people away on this edition of Grody to the Max-!"

Just as she finished her segment, the rat from behind her pounced, pinning her to the floor, and chomping down on the camera. The feed went dead, and soon, all the other channels reporting on the situation were the same.

"Giant rats?" Casey shuddered in fear, dropping onto the couch with a pale, emotionless face. "Giant... rats..."

April, seeing his distress, came up from behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Maybe you should sit this one out, Casey?" She suggested, and the taller teen definitely didn't fight her on that.

"We could really use your help, Sensei." Leo turned to his master with hope, "Last time you took that creep down with one punch!"

His Father closed his eyes in deep thought, while also pushing down the pulling feeling once again. "Last time was different, Leonardo." He sighed, flattening his ears. He couldn't seem to rid his face of the fear he felt internally. "The Rat King has grown too powerful. I do not fear for myself, but for what he could... force, me to do."

Miwa came up to him and held his paw in her hands, "Father, please..." She started, but the rat released himself from her hold, and went back to the dojo. He slid all the doors closed, and hoped, that by isolating himself, he would keep his children safe.

A cackle echoed out into the rain as the Rat King watched through his giant rat's eyes.

"The human species is coming to an end!" He smirked, the rat he was currently observing was playing a morbid game of tug of war with another rat. But the two did not stop, even when the screaming man they were slowly tearing apart stopped moving. "It is time to advance the next phase of evolution. Rodents shall rule!"

Suddenly, the two rats dropped their 'toy', and sniffed at the air. They then turnt all their focus to the street before them.

"What?" Their King questioned, looking through another giant rat's eyes to see a attached four car patrol buggy speeding off down the road, with... a turtle on a skateboard holding a rope attached to the vehicle. And on his head? A ridiculously large block of cheese.

Without hesitation, the mutated rats scampered after them. Or more accurately, the cheese.

Mikey screamed as the gigantic rats tried to chomp and clamp down on him, always being just short as he jumped and swerved away. "Why do I have to wear the cheese??"

"We have to lead them away from the people!" Raph shouted back from his cart in the front, "And you're awesome at being bait!"

The four cars shook as they hit a pothole, and Donnie's gloved hands clung a little tighter to the side of his seat. "Let's just hope these buggies hold together!" He muttered uncomfortably in the back.

April laughed at her boyfriend's joke, but when she saw his dead serious face, she too gripped a little tighter to the inactive wheel. "Oh... your not joking."

Behind them, the ever-growing horde of rats ensued. Like a wave of tattered black fur, threatening drown them if they stopped.

And accompanying them closely after, Casey Jones was swerving about the road on his bike. Miwa was also one the back of the bike, chucking shurikens at the rats while Jones pedalled for his life.

"This is the worst thing ever!!" Casey all but cried through his pants.

"Just ride, Hockey boy!" Miwa snapped, chucking another shuriken at a rat, and hitting it dead in the eye. But that didn't seem to deter them. "Their gaining on us!"

"I thought I was staying behind!" Casey shot back moodily to the maroon clad kunoichi.

Miwa smirked, and lowered her hood a little to block the rain from running her mascara. "Where's the fun in that?" She quipped only for both of them to scream as another rat decided to try and launch itself at them.

"Waaah!" Mikey cried as a rat managed to rip a piece of cheese off his head, causing him to swerve uncontrollably. "Faster, faster, FASTER!!"

"Uh oh!" Donnie called, and pointed towards a blockade of flipped cars in front. With three large rats snarling at them as they approached.

Luckily, backup arrived just in time, as Leonardo floored the Shellraiser from a connecting street, plowing through the cars and rats, and clearing the way for his siblings. "Sorry I'm late!" He apologised over the phone, and continued pushing through the surge of rats.

The Dojo was eerily quiet. Yet, still peaceful despite the chaos happening above.

The smell of long dead incense hung in the air, while a lone mutant rat, sitting still below a flourishing tree, seemed just as calm from an outside perspective.

But inside, what he saw was anything but calm.

"Revel in the madness, my brother." The Rat King's tempting voice called out, showing a vision of giant rats running about the streets, attacking all who got in their way.

Their red controlled eyes, left a filter like view over their world, creating a more unsettling sight to the havoc they wreaked.

But Splinter realised, this was not the views of one of those beasts... as the creature he watched downed a man, and slashed at him with familiar paws, it looked to the shop window beside it, showing his own face, twisted in a guttural snarl.

"There is room for you in my new world..."

"NO!!" Splinter yelled in alarm, gripping his aching head to try and pull himself out of the darkness. It felt like heavy chains, and hooks had pieced his very being, and were forcing him below the void.

But he would not become one of his minions. He would not lose himself to this monster... "Get out of my head!"

"It doesn't matter." The Rat King hummed, a sense of satisfaction was clear in his demented voice. "You already belong to me. You just don't know it yet..."

Screaming continued as Michelangelo had a few to many close calls with the gnashing jaws. And it only got worse as the rats somehow started to gain momentum.

"Aah! They're gonna get me!" Mikey cried out in fear.

Donatello decided they had baited enough rats after them, and pulled Mikey back to the buggies by the rope. Tugging him by the shell and seating him beside him.

Unfortunately for the two of them, their moment of relief never came, as an enormous rat decided to try one last time, and lunged for the cheese.

The teens screamed as it ended up landing on top of the buggies, forcing Mikey and Donnie to shove themselves to the side so they weren't crushed under the beast as it thrashed and shrieked about on their cars.

But the added weight was slowing them down, and Raph was struggling to steer with a giant rat head occasionally snapping at him. "Mikey! Drop the cheese you idiot!" He yelled.

Raphael turnt last minute into a side street, hoping to knock off the rat, which refused to give up the cheese that easily. Only for it to get smacked upside the head by a trash ball, curtesy of the Shellraiser.

But by shooting down the rat off the buggies, Leo left himself open to attack. And the rats were fast to swarm over the truck, pushing and biting at the vehicle, trying to get the turtle favoured prize inside.

"A little help here, guys!?" Leo yelled as the Shellraiser was suddenly tilted sideways. He held onto the wheel and seat, and watched helplessly as the vehicle slammed against the pavement horizontally. Leaving him trapped with multiple rats scratching at the doors.

Though he could not see it, Leo then heard the unmistakable sounds of explosions from outside, as well as the pained screeches from the giant rats.

Casey and Miwa rode by, drawing the rats away from the Shellraiser. While the kunoichi threw a few of her exploding shurikens at the mutated rats, which she managed to finally convince Donnie to give her for emergency use only.

They sped away for a few minutes, drawing the rats with them. And each time one of the rodents got ballsy, and made an attempt to jump them, they were greeted with a face full of explosives.

That was until Miwa reached for another one, only to find her pocket empty. She hurried into the other pocket for a regular shuriken, only to find that they too were gone.

Panic-stricken, she looked at the horde chasing after them, then back to the boy barely holding it together at the wheel. "Uh, this thing got any tricks?" She asked impatiently.

Looking back, Casey saw the gaining rats and fought through his fear. "A few!" He yelled, pressing a button underneath his handle.

A compartment below Miwa's feet opened up, and hundreds of marbles skidded along the road, tripping up the rats scurrying after them.

"Nice!" Miwa grinned at the downed rats, only to see the ones now blocking the way ahead. "Look out-"

"Hold on!" Casey called, racing faster ahead and starting up his other weapons, a deodorant can attached to the handle of his bike, and a few fireworks by the front wheel.

He reached into his pocket, pulling free a lighter and holding it in front of the can, creating a makeshift flamethrower that scared the rats away, shrieking.

Once the path was clear, and the only rodents left were far infront, he set his lighter on the fireworks, which screamed after the rats, burning and terrifying them enough that they scampered away to the manhole covers.

"Yeah!" The vigilante exclaimed, "No rat messes with Casey Jones!"

"Alright! Way to go, Puck-brain!" Miwa cheered, shaking his shoulders in victory. "I didn't think you could handle that!"

"Neither did I!" Casey laughed through obvious fear, which made the girl also snicker. "Ya know, we make a pretty good team-"

A sudden stampeding rat tackled right into the bike, knocking both the teens flying into a alleyway nearby.

Miwa managed to roll herself to a stop, only to see the mutated rat grab hold of Casey's wrist in it's mouth, and drag him further into the alleyway.

The hockey fiend tried to punch the beast to release him, but it's grip only tightened, leaving Casey to frantically slap the rat to let go.

"Casey!" Miwa yelled, charging after the retreating black mass of fur.

The buggie shot past their alleyway, and luckily for them, April noticed them both with a gasp. "Miwa and Casey! Guys, turn the kart around!" But just as she called this, Donnie pointed to the rooftops above with a shout, where several rats were waiting to jump them.

"Let's split up!" Raphael ordered and gripped the release lever on his kart.

Donnie's mahogany eyes went wide in panic, and he rapidly slapped the older turtle's shell to stop him. "No! No!! Their not ready yet!-"

The lever was pulled, and the four karts separated, veering off into different directions. April, Mikey and Donnie all had to grab hold of their wheels as their karts went into manual mode. And thankfully, they managed to all stay clear of the rodents dive bombing off the roof.

"Huh?" Donnie stared in shock at the working steering wheels on his own kart, as well as the others passing by. "I could of sworn I hadn't fixed that yet..."

As Raph and Mikey zoomed away to get after Leo, still trapped in the fallen Shellraiser with oversized rodents trying to break in, Donnie and April made after the mutant rat currently dragging Casey away.

On a rooftop far in the distance, the Rat King called out, "Caligula, come to me!" On his order, one of the oversized rats scurried up the building, and awaited patiently as his King jumped onto his back, using him as a mount.

"Come, my brothers!" The pale man commanded, seeing through the eyes of his many minions. "Claudius, Nero, Commodus... the rest of you! Back to the lair! We have enough humans."

On cue, all the giant rats, and even the ordinary ones using themselves as eyes for their master, scampered away into the many manholes.

Which also included, the one holding onto Casey. Miwa rushed after him as the rat gained sped. "Casey!"

The punk teen fought harder against the mutant, punching it's wrinkled face excessively, "Agh!? Let go of me, you freaking rodent-" His words were cut off as the giant rodent gave him a powerful shove straight into the manhole, before then trying to wiggle itself in afterwards.

"Oh no you don't!" Miwa snapped, bolting forwards and pulling at it's unnaturally large tail. She tugged, but the sheer weight of the rat alone left it unmovable.

Just as her grip on the scaly limb started to fail, the tail whipped around her, wrapping tightly over her waist. "Get off of me!!" She yelled out, feeling the creature crushing her stomach.

"Mi! Casey!" April screamed from the alleyways entrance.

"April!-" Miwa had only a few seconds to see April and Donnie racing towards them, before the mass of rat managed to squeeze it's way into the hole, dragging her and Casey into the darkness along with it.

"No!" April cried, as she and Donnie stopped above the now silent sewer.

"Oh no..." Donnie said while giving the manhole a fearful look. He offered April a comforting shoulder to cry one as the girl broke down.

When Casey awoke, the first thing he registered was a constant throbbing in the back of his head.

He remembered being dropped down the manhole, and hitting his head against the wet sewer floor.

But, where was he know?

His eyes flickered uncomfortably at the blaring white light, and the repulsive smell of sewage and dry rot.

"Hey, are you okay? Mister?"

The familiar voice had his eyes widening in horror, and he couldn't help the yell that escaped him. "Aah! Oh, great!" Of all the people to come face to face with after a concussion, this bespectacled one was the worst. Maybe even worse then being abducted by giant mutant rats.

Remembering that he was in his vigilante gear, Casey cleared his throat, and made his voice a little deeper while also hiding his brooklyn accent. "Uh, I'm fine, Miss."

"Psst!" The scruffy teen wheeled around in his cage, catching sight of the kunoichi in a cage of her own above him.

Casey went to shout her name, relived that she was ok, but held his tongue due to also noticing all the other cages around them filled with civilians. "Uh, any of you guys know where are we?" He spoke to the two girls near him, and adjusted his mask to make sure it completely covered his face.

Miwa raised a brow and scanned over the unfortunately familiar place. It was the same lair the Rat King had used before, the same place her poor father was mind controlled, almost killing them all in the process.

This place, was like some sort of abandoned building. It had destroyed floors and stories, random stairs and doorways that lead nowhere. And strange giant ventilation fans all around the floor. But, it was hidden deep underground, in the furthest parts of the sewers.

Miwa and her brother's used to secretly leave the lair and dare each other to come here as young teens, claiming it was haunted by ghosts. And the theory wouldn't be all that far off.

The place looked haunted, in it's broken down and rotted state. And it's overall aura was completely off putting.

Answering in a hushed tone, Miwa grimaced as she looked to the ledge her father once stood on, holding a katana to Leo's throat. "Not somewhere good, that's for sure."

"The sewers." Irma replied, gesturing to themselves and all the other cages, "We're prisoners of the Rat King."

Before Casey could respond with a snappy reply, a wave of chittering and squeaks was heard below them on the floor. A flood of rodents rushed up the sides of the crumbling bricks, and gathered around a room with no walls, revealing a weird makeshift lab.

And moving towards the edge of the room, was that bandaged, cloaked figure. His rotted, toothy smile was all the caged people could see from under his low tilted hat.

"Welcome, esteemed guests." He formal greeted his captives, even holding his hands out in a peaceful manner. "There's no need to fear. I will not hurt you. That I promise."

"Let us out of here, you freak!" Casey barked out deeply, shaking the bars in his cage in frustration.

"All in good time." The Rat King soothed, the white rat he had come to love, scurried up his back, and perched himself on his shoulder. Allowing his King to see his prizes, and his minions.

"These were simple, ordinary rats." The deformed man began, stroking one of the oversized rats that had come closer to his master. "Until I transformed them. With my special mutagenic growth serum. But these were not the soldiers I was looking for."

Casey and Miwa sent each other narrowed stares, before going back to the man, now holding a syringe filled with a light turquoise liquid.

"I have just unlocked the secrets of the ultimate army." He slapped a hand on a chalkboard filled with unintelligible scribbles, and beamed proudly. Even with bandages covering his eyes, one could imagine the demented and fanatic look in them. "Rat people!"

"And you, my friends, will become that army!" As he declared this, and eruption of noise filled the once silent area. The Rat King's disturbed laugh, echoing loudly, and celebratory squeals and chirps from the rats, ordinary and mutated. And the horrified screams and cries of the many captives calling for help or mercy.

Irma even passed out into Casey's arms, who himself, looked paler and on the verge of fainting.

Miwa felt panic starting to get the better of her as the cries, and screams and laugher all clashed together in a distorted noise.

But she held her focus, and refused to give up just yet, "Not on my watch!" She thought aloud through gritted her teeth. She then dug through her ponytail and pulled out a hairpin, trying to pick at her lock, and not just sit around pretty and wait to be rescued.

Back in the lair, the situation was not much better.

Splinter came out of the Dojo to warn his children of the visions he had seen, only to see his beloved daughter, as well as the young hockey player missing.

The brother's and April explained what happened, and the old rat master had to take a seat on the couch once he had heard that Miwa was in the hands of that monster.

"The Rat King peered into my mind to see what makes me unique." Splinter explained tiredly to his remaining children, a heavy hand rested on his muzzle the entire time. "With that knowledge, he will create an army of rat people..."

"We've got to stop him, Sensei." Leonardo declared, hoping to rally his father on their side. "Save Miwa and Casey! Father, we need you!-"

"I told you, he is too powerful!" His sensei answered tetchily back, ears dropping in defeat. "Even for me..."

"But, Master Splinter!" The leader persisted, taking a stand in front of the seated rat with a heart full of determination. "If there's one time we could use your help, it's now."

"Enough!" Splinter snapped exhaustedly, he stood up, towering easily over his fern green son, and snatched up his cane from beisde the couch. "I will not put you all in danger again!" With his last words firm, leaving no room for argument, the ninjas hung their heads respectfully, and watched as their sensei made to the Dojo once more.

But before he could leave...

"We believe in you, Sensei!" April shot up from her seat, making Splinter stop dead in his tracks. "We need your help! And so do Miwa and Casey!"

The ninja master's ears flattened against his head, and he let out a weary sigh. The thought of his daughter with that monster made his blood run cold, but also fueled a rage so intense he swore he could feel it's heat inside.

Splinter knew what the Rat King was planning to do, he was going to mutate her, and all the other people he captured into mindless mutated creatures.

But to go and save her? He'd risk being to close to him. Close enough for him to take full control. And he wasn't sure if he could stop himself if it happened again...

He released a long breath, and without another word, went to shut himself away in the Dojo.

Once their Sensei was out of sight, Leonardo resigned to a quiet exhale himself before addressing the rest of the group. "Gear up guys. Let's go save the others!"

The teens nodded respectively, and moved out to grab their weapons.

As they did this, Mikey managed to slink into the kitchen, where he opened the fridge with a look of pure seriousness in his baby blue eyes. "Are you ready for the most dangerous, crucial mission of your life?"

The ice cream cat purred, flopping her neck around to and fro, and dripping strawberry and vanilla all over the cold box she called home.

"Meow!"

"Aw, Kitty!" Mikey cooed sweetly to his pet, before getting serious again and pulling out a cooler. "Then let's do this!"

TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT

Casey Jones shuffled around in his cage, shoving the still unconscious Irma to one side as he tried getting a better look around. He tried to be quiet, as not to draw the demented man working away in his lab, or his giant mutant rat freaks attention.

Above him, Miwa was still picking away at her cage's lock, but her efforts were not being rewarded with freedom. She started to growl, and become frustrated at the weird lock. No matter how much she tried, the hairpin wouldn't fit. As she once again jabbed it inwards, her fingers slipped and her hairpin fell to the floor with a soft clattering, not even alerting the rats surrounding the floor.

"Kusō! 'Dammit!'" She whispered angrily, throwing herself backwards against the metal bars. She was out of luck. Even with her tantō still on her, the hilt of the blade wouldn't fit through the thin metal bars.

"It was a good try, Sweetheart." Casey commended with a sigh. It seemed sitting and waiting was all they could do.

"I told you not to call me that." Miwa hissed at him with narrow eyes, before throwing her hands up. "Ugh! What the heck is taking them so long!"

"Not one for being the damsel in distress huh?" Casey smirked at her salty attitude.

She snickered humourlessly, and sunk to the floor of her cage. Having no other choice but to wait. She then sent him a joking look, "Nah, it's more your thing. Puck-brain."

Across from them in the cramped, makeshift lab, a squeaking could be heard from the Rat King's shoulder. And the white rat perched there seemed pleased with his master's work.

"That's right, Aristotle." The decaying man praised, holding up the syringe from earlier with a pleased, toothy grin. "Every time one of my rat people bites a human, they will infect them, causing the mutation to spread, and spread, until every human being in this wretched world transforms into one of us!"

The white rat then leant closer to his ear, squeaking to him. "What's that you say?" The man asks confused. "The serum's not perfected?"

He clenched his jaw together at his rat's judgment, "What do you mean?" As he says this, the rat on his shoulder turns around. And the man does the same.

A large scaled rat tail slithers behind the desks in the corner, and as the Rat King approaches his most recent experiment, he saw the grotesque monstrosity gawking back at him.

It looked like a melted pile of multiple rats all formed together as one hauntingly deformed creature. With bones breaking free from it's too many limbs, having tried to shift with the mutagen, only to fail. It's face, a horrid mix of a man's with a painfully twisted snout, held little to no emotion, and it's hard, raspy breathes, forced themselves out from punctured lungs.

"C-cheeseeee. G-give meeee cheeseeee..." It's distorted pleads hung ominously in the air, whilst it's King simply looked over him with a look of displeasure. With another harsh breath, all sounds stopped entirely from the ghastly mutant.

With a completely unfazed shrug, the bandaged man walked away from the deceased freak in the corner, "Well, not every experiment can be a success." He commented, before marvelling at the syringe in his hand. "But this new serum, will work. Perhaps we should test it."

As he says this, Aristotle's red eyes leer towards the kunoichi in the cage, and he chitters to his master.

"You're right, Aristotle. She is the perfect test subject!" He agreed with a sinister cackle, "No one better, then Splinter's own daughter..."

Miwa was about to let off a flood of foul words to the man as he turned away from her, but stopped when she overheard a soft hushed voice from the floors above.

"There they are!"

From where she, Casey and the other humans were, they couldn't see past the first level above, much less the four others. But she caught sight of Mikey's green face peering over the edge, and giving her a silent thumbs up before disappearing back.

"Took them long enough." Miwa mumbled thankfully.

"They're alive!" April quietly celebrated, seeing her friends as well as the other human captives still in one piece. She then also noticed a familiar person with Casey. "And... Irma?"

"Is that Irma?" Mikey asked in surprise, scanning over the goth girl both Donnie and Miwa got the creeps about. He let of a raspberry, and playfully shoved his human brother. "She doesn't look that bad!"

"That's because she's unconscious." Donnie pointed out matter of factly.

"We can't let the people see us, April." Leo informed her from the back of the group. "You have to free 'em."

"Maybe get Miwa and Casey out first?" Raph snorted as he caught sight of his sister's peeved off face staring daggers at him from below. "Before Mi gets real annoyed."

April nodded her understanding and slipped quietly down the broken platfroms, onwards to the floor below where a lever was waiting.

As the four brother's got ready to go, Leonardo felt a paw lay gently on his shoulder. And he turnt to see his Father behind him, a prepared look on his worn out face. "Sensei?"

The other's turnt at Leo's words, and all smiled to see their Father and sensei had joined the fight.

"It is time the Rat King is dethroned." He told his son's firmly.

Hope flickered strongly in Leo's sapphire eyes, a look that his brother's echoed. "I knew you wouldn't let us down."

Sending a regretful glance towards his daughter, Splinter gripped his eldest son's arm a little tighter, and ordered one thing of him. "If I should lose control, you do what you have to do."

The boy's were shocked to hear his words, and uncomfortably looked towards the leader for his response.

Leo began to protest, but seeing his master's serious face, he nodded his understanding. "Hai, Sensei."

Mikey clutched the cooler box a little closer, and grinned evilly to himself. "Nothing's gonna happen, 'cause I got my supersecret weapon!" He then pat the box and held back a round of laugher. For this was by far, his greatest idea ever. "Yeah...!"

"Let's go!" Leo called, and the Ninjas moved out swiftly.

April managed to reach the floor, and noticed the lever was guarded by a giant sleeping rat. She sent a distressed glance upwards to Miwa and Casey, who were both watching her.

Sneaking through the shadows, the ninjas also started to descend downwards, until Leonardo was across from the Rat King.

He pulls out a scalpel he had hidden in his wrist wraps, and is about to throw it at the mutated man, when a sudden strong grip holds his hand in the air.

"Huh?" He pivots round to see his mind controlled father clamping down hard on his wrist.

The Rat King's maniacal laughter erupted from the room, having now noticed the infiltrating Hamatos through his rat's eyes.

Splinter blinked away the red for just a moment, seeing his son in his hold. "No!" He yelled, his voice strained as the pull returned, ten times stronger then it previously was. "Get out!!" He scrunched his eyes shut, and fought off the invading force in his mind.

"You're mine now, Splinter." The cold and heartless voice was clear in his mind, and overtook any and all of his thoughts. "Kill your children... One by one."

Breathing hard, Splinter reopened his eyes. But the warm amber was gone. Blood red eyes stared back at his turtle son, for he could no longer resist the pull.

Miwa could only gasp in horror as she saw her Father twist Leo's wrist and pin him down to the stone floor effortlessly. Before then drawing the scalpel towards her brother's throat.

Leo struggled, and gasped out breathes as the knife approached him, powerless to force his much stronger father off.

"Father! Stop!!" Miwa cried from her cage, rattling the bars helplessly.

Luckily for all, there was one last trick up one turtle's sleeve. "Forget that, Rat King!" Mikey bellowed across the room.

Before anyone could say or do anything else, Michelangelo flung the cooler box at the cloaked man, and ice cream Kitty sprung out ready for war. "Oh, yeah! Ice cream Kitty, away!"

Like a coordinated missile, she landed on her target perfectly. Having scared off his only source of sight, he was in the dark as the dessert feline fell onto him and began her vicious attack. She scratched and clawed at the blind man, furiously meowing as the man screamed in agony. Her claws, tearing through his skin like a sharpened knife to paper.

Distracted by the pain, the Rat King's trance slipped only slightly on Splinter, allowing him to pull himself back in control, and release his blue-clad son. Leaving only a bleeding cut on his neck.

The old rat glared hatefully at the screaming man, and his son's rally around him as they prepare to fight.

Donnie, though also ready to go, couldn't help but gawk at this new mutant. Then, his jaw opened in shock. "Is that April's cat?!" He yelled incredulously.

"Absolutely not!" Mikey exclaimed a little too fast, which made Donnie shot a hard look at him.

Like an arrow shot from a tense bow, Splinter shot through the air, aimed only at the mutated man on the other side of the room.

"Aah!" The Rat King grunted as he finally ripped the cat of of him, throwing her to the floor. As Aristotle returned to his side, he began to flee in haste, as Splinter was very rapidly making his way over.

The man got to a cage in the furthest part of the lair, and climbed inside, where he then pulled a lever and dropped into a dark elevator like shaft. "Destroy them!" His desperate cry echoed around the room, as Splinter threw himself down after him, using his claws to slow his fast descent.

As the cage clatters to the floor, the Rat King leaves and runs through a tight corridor, which leads to a opened up tunnel passage.

Inside, a mutated rat awaits him, and he climbs onto it's back and wastes no time in hitting the giant beast to move. "Go, Caligula! Hyah!"

The creature squeals, and begins to dart down the passage. But as Aristotle turns on the Rat King's shoulder, he squeaks in surprise to see that Splinter was in pursuit.

Running on all fours to keep up, Splinter growled at the retreating man. "You run like a coward when not in control!"

"Who said I'm not in control?" The man retorted, his cloak hiding his wicked grin as he yells, "Attack!"

From all the pipes, corridors and passageways, a tsunami of rats came crashing after them, wave after wave.

Splinter could only spare a look behind him, before having to speed up. Otherwise, he would be overwhelmed by the approaching rodents.

"Smell the cheese..." Mikey encouraged one of the giant rats closer, holding a block of untouched cheese within his palm. Just as the rat opened it's mouth for a bite, it was met with a face full of fist instead. "Hyah! Smell the cheese!" Mikey yelled, and for some reason, the creature didn't learn, and kept coming back for the cheese. Which earnt it yet another punch. "Hyah! Come on, smell it!"

While Mikey repeatedly beat up the dumb rodent, Leo tried to slash at another rat coming for him. But it turned and whipped his katana straight from his hand.

He instead growled and forcefully punched the rodent round the face, before shoving it backwards with all his might.

"Leo!" Called Raph as he hurried to his brother's aid, together they managed to throw the oversized rat down a few stories, and it even took a couple others with it to the ground below.

As they crashed down to the floor, and onto an unsuspecting rat near a certain lever, April ran over, and pulled free a couple of cages.

Loud clanks were heard as two cages slammed to the floor. And April hurried over with a fire extinguisher, which she used to beat the locks in.

Miwa kicked hers down instantly, and sent a nod of appreciation to her redhead friend. "Bout time." She smirked, before making her way to the fight before she missed out.

However, as she reached the third floor, she paused near the drop the Rat King and her father had disappeared down. She spared only a glance to her brother's tackling the rats, before running for the exit.

"Yes!" Casey cried as he ran into the door of his cage, shoulder first, "Finally free!-"

"April!!" Irma's very much conscious self burst through the closing door and knocked Casey to the ground. She then practically fell at April's feet and began rambling with wide eyes. "How did you find us? Did you follow the trail of rat droppings? It has a unique aroma of-"

"Not now, Irma!" Both April and Casey yelled, which shut Irma's ranting up instantly.

With a deep voice, Casey pulled free a hockey stick and made for another lever. "Let's free the others and get out of here!"

April then turnt to Irma who was watching the giant rats twitching beside her, and snapped at her to get her moving. "Irma, give me a hand with their cages!"

The gothic girl nods her understanding and runs off. While Casey and April pull levers and start freeing the last of the humans, while also pointing them to the way out, Irma manages to find an old console in a corner.

She looks over the many buttons and presses one, hoping to drop the remaining cages. However, a whirring hum came to life and the massive fans stationed around the room began starting up again.

"Oops." Irma says nonchalantly, but seeing as all the rest of the cages drop, she shrugs and hurries on over to the redhead again.

The humans break free of their cages once Casey smashes in the locks, and they scream for their lives, "Run! We're free!! Get out of here! Yes!!" They follow after Irma, who leads them to the exit April instructed her to go too.

Meanwhile, up above, Donatello was in the middle of taking down one of the rats. He spun his bō staff into it's face, which knocked it down over the edge, but as he did this, two more jumped down from above, cornering him.

He holds off one of them, which keeps biting and trying to rip away his bō, but the other one full on rams into him head first. The teen loses his footing, and trips over the edge, screaming as he falls head first into a giant fan.

However, the blade never meets him, and instead takes a few inches of hair from his head. He sends a shocked look upwards to see Mikey's chain wrapped around his boot, pulling him up to safety.

"Got you, D!" Mikey calls, helping his brother up as Leo and Raph fight back the rats behind him. "Ooh! Nice haircut!"

"What?" Donnie asks, feeling his now ear length hair, but the shock of his new appearance is nothing compared to the new mutant currently grooming itself next to Mikey.

"We're gonna talk about that later!" Donnie warns him, and pulls himself the rest of the way upwards, shaking his head as Mikey sheepishly chuckles at ice cream Kitty.

Deep beneath New York City, in the darkest, most unreachable part of the sewers, there is a long forgotten cityscape.

Abandoned and broken down buildings, left in ruins in a dark abyss. The fall into it's depths is said to last for hours. Meaning your own voice would give out before you even met the bottom.

It's origins is a mystery the world has yet to solve, and for almost all, it's entire existence is near myth or nonexistent. The only thing that is known of it, is it's name.

The Undercity.

Somehow, the Rat King had found this forgotten place, and used it as a secondary base. So it was here, he ran for safety.

The pale man, using Aristotle as his eyes, hopped across pillars, archs and brick structures with ease, knowing the place well. But not far behind, Splinter also followed, not losing sight of the man.

The Rat King then summoned a bridge of rats to fall from one of the higher buildings above, using them to get across. He then dispersed them, and left Splinter with no way to climb up.

But he would not be so easily deterred. The ninja master gave a running start and leapt for the building, digging in claws to the bricks and scaling the ruin to get to his foe.

"Fall!"

Splinter was only just able to look up in time, to see a wall of rats fall towards him. They tried knocking him down with them, but as he held firm, they started to bite and claw at him until his grip slackened.

As he fell, he managed to grab hold of a rusted pipe, and steady his body and mind. "No." He gritted between his teeth, and pulled himself up the pipe, and back to the brick wall. "I will not let you escape this time!"

The Hamato ninjas continued to push back against the giant rats, while Casey and April got the last of the cages.

The very last humans broke free, and following the redhead's instructions, fled the lair. "Hurry! Everyone, run! We'll lock the door!"

Just as they all made it out, one of the giant rats slipped down from above, snarling at April. It lunged, ready to attack, but Donnie was faster.

He dropped in front of it and whacked it backwards before jabbing at it's head, knocking it into a nearby wall, where the bricks above tumbled down on top of it.

With the rodent down, he turned to April to make sure she was fine, "You guys get everyone to safety." He called, preparing to take off again. "We got this covered."

"You always do." April says with a smile, pecking his cheek, "Nice cut by the way!" She calls before running after the retreating humans. Smirking at his flushed cheeks.

In the sewers, April manages to catch up to Irma and Casey, who are helping people climb up the manhole ladder.

Just as the last man went up, Casey let out a sigh of relief, "I'll be fine if I live the rest of my life without seeing another-"

Just as he says this, one last oversized rat comes snarling round the corner, cutting off the manhole cover to the three teens.

"Rat!" Casey hoarsed out the word. But as the wrinkled faced beast stood with it's orange teeth bared, chittering at them. Something inside the boy turned his fear, into anger.

The Rat let out a bellowing squeal, and scraped it's claws along the tunnel floor.

"I've had about enough of you!" Casey grunted out, and slipped his hands free of his hockey gloves.

When the rat charged, it was met head on with Casey's fist. The creature didn't even flinch before it dropped over unconscious.

The two girls stared in shock, before Irma sent April a questioning look. But the redhead just sheepishly shrugged back.

Back in the lair, the last of the mutant rats were being dealt with by the ninjas.

All except Michelangelo, who was now backed into a corner by a towering rat, growling, and intent on making him his dinner.

"Easy, Mr. Rat!" Mikey whined, but the beast just pressed forwards.

The youngest mutant let out a scream as the rat charged him, but a yowl from the air made him look upwards.

"Meoww!!"

Ice cream Kitty flew in from the sky, like a neapolitan coloured superhero, and landed on the rats snout.

She started to flail her tiny noodley arms against the muzzle of the beast, scratching it, and saving Mikey in the process.

The Rat however, was unfazed, and simply just grabbed her and shoved her in his mouth. But as he tried to shallow, the cat attacked his tongue, leaving tiny cuts and marks, which made the rat squeal and spit her out.

The disgusting flavoured feline was gross enough that the rat hurriedly scurried away up a couple of floors, where he unfortunately met face to face with Raphael. Who smirked and charged at him.

"Ice cream Kitty!" Mikey gasped with a tear in his eye, he ran over and scooped up the half melted cat, cradling her in his arms. "You're my hero!" He cried, before licking her cheek, "And you taste so good!"

Leo and Donatello jumped down to his level, and watched as one last rat fell from above, followed soon by Raphael.

"I think that's all the rats." Raph huffed, dusting off his hands with a satisfied grin.

Leo scanned the area with an uneasy look, one his brother's noticed, "But what about Sensei and Miwa?"

The still silence of the Undercity filled the abyss. The only noise was the occasional footfalls and grunts as the two mutants leapt about the place.

At the top of an abandoned structure, the Rat King found himself cornered. There were no more ledges, other then the one behind Splinter, and the rat wasn't exactly going to let him leave anytime soon.

Using Aristotle's eyes, the Rat King was able to dodge to the left and avoid Splinter's punch, which shook the very place itself when it landed.

The old rat went at him again, and again, but each time the Rat King was able to slide past him, and move away. Until Splinter went in for a two fingered jab to the gut, one that had worked last time to put the man unconscious.

But the man learned his lesson, and moved beside him, where he then sent a punch right into Splinter's ribs.

At the entrance of the Undercity, Miwa had managed to find, she saw her Father far in the distance fighting his foe. But just as he was about to deal a final blow, the man knocked him down. "Father!" She yelled, and tried to figure out a way over to him.

Splinter fell to his knees, clutching his chest with heavy breaths.

Lingering above him like death itself in that dark cloak, the Rat King smirked at the ninja master. "That's right. Bow before your Master, rat." He sneered, "There's nothing you can do that I can't see coming."

Splinter's ears flickered as he heard soft grunts, and from the corner of his eye, he saw his daughter making her way over the pillars. She looked up, and meet his eyes, a warm amber that reflected his own.

Splinter gripped his paws into fists, and took in a calming breath, pushing that pulling feeling down, until the only thing on his mind, was his daughter. His sons. His family.

"So... you still think you are in control of the situation?" He asked slyly, before shooting his palm forwards and knocking the white rat off of the man's shoulder.

"Aristotle!" The man screamed in horror, watching from the rodents eyes as he was plunged into the darkness of the abyss.

The white rat only shrieked for a short while, before it's scream was silenced by the darkness.

"You'll pay for that!" The pale man spat in hatred, a dangerous look in his sneer. "I can still see through your eyes-" He stops himself immediately as he notices Splinter holding onto his bandages.

"What?" He mutters in shock, feeling the wraps over his eyes missing.

Splinter began to bring the fabric to his eyes, "How about now?" As he said this, the man desperately ran for him.

But just as he reached out his boney hand, he too, was now lost in a dark void. "Gah!?" He screamed, and thrashed about, swiping and snatching at the air. But the connection was broken.

"Control is an illusion." Splinter's voice floated from around him.

But as the Rat King struck out where Splinter stood, he was met with air, and a tail sweeping his feet out from below him.

The man screamed, and panicked, "Where!" He gasped out, pulling himself up and wandering around the void. "Are you?!"

"It can be even more blinding than the inability to see." Splinter spoke from in front of the man, calmly. "It can..."

The Rat King tried to strike him once more, but the momentum of his own punch sent him a few too many steps forwards, and Splinter, had moved to the side.

Victor Falco stepped out, and found the floor beneath him had vanished. The silence was broken as a ear piecing scream shook the cavern, and the man fell into the abyss below. His screams continued, and didn't stop. It only faded into none existence as he plummeted below to his death.

"Send you over the edge."

Hamato Yoshi removed his blindfold to see his daughter stood a pillar away, she had witnessed her father overcome his enemy, and beamed proudly at him.

The mutant rat smiled at his child, and threw away his blindfold. No longer did he feel the pull into the darkness. Only his own maroon aura held firm in his mind.

"Goodbye, my King."
