"And done," my hands are colorful, stained from the markers as I made Mother a picture of the three us to cheer her up and make her happy again. Whisking my paper from the desk, I walk down the hall to Mother's room.
I knock softly, not wanting to wake her if she is sleeping. Knock, then wait and listen. No sound comes from within, not even a small scuffle. I knock again. Still nothing. Quietly, I open the door and enter the room.
Mother's gone. She's gone and I don't know where she went, the bed made up as if Mother will be back any moment. My picture flutters to the floor, my heart racing.
Breathe, Adrien. Breathe. Father will know where she is.
"Where's Mother?" I barge into Father's office, not caring for once if I'm interrupting. "Gone," Father says simply. No emotions slip through the cracks. My legs wobble, and I walk further into the room.
"No, no, she can't be gone. Tell me where she is." This is just a bad dream, it has to be. Father glares at me as I single tear rolls down my cheek. "I don't have to tell you anything."
I sink to my knees, begging. Father glares. "Adrien, go to your room." I can't disobey, even if my whole being fights for it. "Yes, Father."
Rising to my feet, I catch a quick glance on the screen, seeing what looks like two superheroes staring back at me.
Will anyone save me? I find my way to my room, curling on the bed into a ball, not wanting to come out. Little do I know, soon I will be the black-clad superhero on Father's screen, soon I shall be Cat Noir.
