Hiccup Voice Over: Everyone needs a place in the world. Some people are born to theirs.
The scene shows Stoick on a fishing boat with Spitelout, Hoark, and other men. "Raise the mainsail! Turn her toward the starboard!" He barked out his orders to his men as he stood at the mast of the ship with his hands on his hips and his brow furrowed.
Some people discover their true destiny, while others don't yet know it.
The scene then changes to when Hiccup and Toothless first bonded. Hiccup places his hand on the dragon's snout, and then they're seen hugging and kissing one another, the mating mark visible to the world.
And then some people make a place for themselves.
The final scene goes back to the days when dragons raided the Isle of Berk and Vikings fought for their very survival. Gobber emerges with a wheelbarrow brimming with weapons. "Grab a weapon! No time to be choosy!" He sounds off as he is then seen leading a charge with his hook for an arm in the air, yelling a battle cry as a young Hiccup watches his superior from the safety of the forge.
Cut to the present, and we see two monstrous nightmares flying overhead as they patrol the Isle of Berk. "Everything is in order." The blue and purple creature grunts to his teammate as he gazes down at the calm Isle of Berk.
"We'll tell the Alpha and Queen and then sleep in our dens. We've been on guard all night." A creature with orange and yellow scales groaned as his brown eyes drooped, but he quickly shook his head to wake himself.
Suddenly, both dragons see Gobber hobbling to his shop. A few minutes later, they see puffs of smoke coming from the top of the human's den. "Isn't that where the queen spends time?" The orange dragon rumbles, pointing toward the blacksmith's shop with his snout.
"Yep, and he said that the human's name is Gobber, and he's like some official uncle to the queen." The blue dragon responds immediately upon hearing the sound of metal sharpening.
Hiccup VO: However, the world around them transforms, and the place they created vanishes.
A few hours later
The current dragon riders are seen in the new Dragon Academy, which is now finished, with only the equipment that needs to be completed and brought in. The six teens divide into two teams, with Hiccup leading the group at the front. Astrid and Fishlegs form one team, while Snotlout and the twins form another.
"Each dragon has unique abilities that set it apart from the flock and the world. Which dragon makes the best welding torch? Hiccup addressed the teams, his notebook in hand.
"It's obvious, the deadly Nadder." Astrid scoffs smugly as she whips her bangs out of her line of sight.
"Its magnesium flame burns with the heat of the sun!" Fishlegs adds.
Hiccup gives Stormfly and Eragon a side glance. "Is that true?" He asks in Dragonese.
"Indeed it is, my queen. Our flame rivals that of the fireworms." Stormfly remarks as she returns to grooming her lover, who purrs in response, and his eyelids close halfway.
"Correct! Point to team Astrid. The score is now 100 to 10." Hiccup announces. "Um Toothless, why is Stormfly grooming Eragon and why do they seem more loving than normal?" He asked through the bond.
"It's because they're beginning to feel the effects of the mating season. Spring is starting, and so is the nadder mating season." The dark dragon explains as he approaches his lover and licks the mating mark.
The night fury's lover moans a little at the feeling before he comes back to reality and hears the other teens insulting one another. "Ok, next question. What is the shot limit of a Hideous Zippleback? Team Snotlout." He points to his cousin and the Throston twins.
"This ought to be beneficial because I don't think between the three of them they can count that high." Astrid mocks as her blue eyes peer at the other team.
"Oh really? Well, we'll just see about that, Hofferson. Barf! Belch! Show them!" Ruffnut commands as she points at the Astrid and Fishlegs teams.
The male zippleback raises its head and unleashes six blasts towards Astrid and Fishlegs. However, before the blasts reach their target, a blue shield envelops the teens, prompting Hiccup to take a knee and pause until he is confident the blasting has ceased.
"And that, my fine lady, by the way, was six shots." Tuffnut points out with a finger like a scientist who has discovered something important.
Furious at the twins and driven by her competitive nature, Astrid glares at the other team. "Alright, it's our turn. What happens when you shoot fire at a friend of two Deadly Nadders?" She asks as she whistles at Stormfly and Eragon and points at Snotlout and the twins. The dragons puff out their spines and get ready to fire.
"Um, Astrid, I wouldn't do that." Fishlegs tries to interject, but Snotlout beats him to it.
"I've got a question. What happens when I sic Hookfang on you? The monstrous nightmare flames up and assumes a fighting stance. However, all the dragons calm down once a roar echoes.
"THAT'S ENOUGH! ALL OF YOU STAND DOWN!" Toothless commands the guard authoritatively as he gently nudges Hiccup to his side to stand.
All the dragons immediately bow as Stormfly and Eragon lower their spines.
"Sorry, my Alpha." Both nadders bow to the Night Fury.
"Forgive us, Alpha and Luna," Barf and Belch also apologize.
Unfortunately, Snotlout was still eager for a fight. "Prepare to face the monstrous nightmare," he introduced as he placed his hand on Hookfang's jaw, only for said dragon to suddenly rear up, set himself on fire even more, and burn his rider's buttocks. "AH! THAT'S THE THIRD TIME THIS WEEK! The younger Jorgenson screeched as he ran around the arena before jumping into a nearby tub that is used by dragons to drink from. "Aahhh…sweet relief. He sighs in relief.
"Huh, that's weird. Hookfang never flames up when Snotlout rides him." Hiccup tells his mate.
"Perhaps he's upset that Snotlout tried to engage him in a useless squabble. He doesn't appear to be in any distress, Elsking." Toothless rumbles with a slight chuckle at Hiccup's cousin's disaster.
The one-legged teen hums before going over to his cousin. "Is Hookfang ok? That just seems abnormal for him to flame up without a real threat around."
"Of course he is. He's just cranky because he did a little patrolling early this morning with the watch dragons you assigned to patrol last night." Snotlout gestured accusingly with his fingers.
Hiccup shakes his head at his cousin's remark and goes over to Hookfang, surrounded by the other dragons, minus Meatlug and Rocky, who are now walking into the arena with hatchlings on their backs and sound asleep. "Are you alright, Hookfang?" He asked his guard.
"Yes, my queen, Snotlout just took me by surprise when he touched my jaw." The red nightmare described what happened.
"Well, do let us know if something is going on." Toothless encourages as Hookfang nods.
"Hey Astrid, there's room in here for two." The younger Jorgenson flirts, only to find his face submerged. After a few minutes, the blonde shieldmaiden brings him up for air, and he gasps loudly and massively.
Hiccup watches the twins and Fishlegs gush over the baby gronckles, rolling or crawling around. He walks over with Toothless close beside him and observes all the babies. "They appear to be quite engaging to watch." His heart aches once more, and a persistent knot in his stomach pierces him like a dagger.
"Yes, they are my queen, but they're worth it." Rocky coos as Fishlegs geeks out, as he has done with each sighting of the babies.
Hiccup nods as he leaves the arena alone because Toothless warns Barf and Belch about using humans for target practice.
Meanwhile, Gobber is seen trying to sell his weapons at the plaza."Gather around! Come on, one and all! You may think these weapons are useless now that dragons live among us, but I disagree! You can use them for household utensils like a butter knife, a mace, or a handy flyswatter!" Gobber demonstrates this by smashing a table where a fly has landed.
The crowd shakes their heads in disappointment and begins to disperse as Hiccup looks on defeatedly.
"Well, this is a dark day, especially for you, Hiccup." Mildew mocked him as he wobbled toward the heir of Berk
"How do you figure that, Mildew?" The accused teen counters back, looking at Berk's disdain with a side glare.
"Well, because of you and your dragon, you put Gobber out of business for supplying weapons." Mildew replies, giving the heir of Berk a one-sided glance.
"We still need weapons to defend ourselves." Hiccup reminds the elder man.
"Eh, but with the dragons, didn't you say that they'll defend us? It's really quite a shame, isn't it? Gobber is your official uncle, and you chose a beast over family." "Such a waste." Mildew spits as he gets into Hiccup's personal space, causing the boy to panic slightly before he and his sheep walk away.
Hiccup looks back at his uncle and sees the defeated look on his teacher's face, and his eyelids droop in sadness. A pang in Hiccup's heart makes itself known. Suddenly, he is overcome by the sensation of his bond's pull and the warm breath on his back. "I apologize, I left without you, didn't I?" He asked nervously without looking back, already knowing who it was.
"Yes, you did, Hiccup, and you know the punishment." Toothless rumbles as he notices his mate's gaze and senses sadness through their bond. "Let's go to our den, and you'll get your punishment." The Night Fury gestures towards the chief's house.
The dragon's lover nods, and with one last glance at Gobber, he follows his lover.
The raven-colored leads his submissive to their nest and coos, grateful that Stoick isn't home. He observes his partner heading towards the icebox, where he removes some beef and prepares it for later cooking. "Let's go up to the nest." Toothless gestures as he leads Hiccup up the steps and closes the door. "Lie down and remove your tunic, pet." The devoted, dominant instructs without looking at his lover.
Hiccup tilts his head in confusion before complying. Suddenly, a black snout pushes him to lie on the stone slab. As soon as his back touches the furs, he feels his lover's tongue on his chest. "I thought you were going to punish me?" His question revealed his naivety as his eyebrows drew together, confused by the licking.
The ebony-colored creature pauses his licking. My saliva will cover you from head to toe.
The petite human draws his bottom lip into his mouth, knowing what Toothless's tongue does to him as he blushes red.
The onyx-colored dragon leans up and licks Hiccup's hair, making sure to get it nice and wet. Once he deems the hair soaked enough, he moves down to Hiccup's neck and tilts his neck a little to lick at the base of his mate's ear, causing a shiver to run up Hiccup's spine. Toothless moves back and forth, coating Hiccup's entire neck with saliva. "Toothless." The submissive mate pants softly as his eyes gaze on his Night Fury, feeling himself turned on by his mate's licks. However, as he looks down, he sees his body and covers his eyes, not wanting to see his pathetic excuse for flesh.
"Hiccup, move your hands from your eyes. I want you to watch as I cover you in dragon saliva." The loving dominant rumbles through the bond as he moves down his beloved's chest and covers his mate's entire flat chest in saliva.
The blushing human's pants become louder, and he does as he's told, though he focuses on Toothless and not his body as he feels the slow, torturous licks of his mate as his arousal intensifies as his cock begins to show as slight bulge in his pants.
When Toothless notices this, he uses his paw to pull down his lover's pants and underwear. Deep-seated instincts start to surface as he smells the ever-growing pheromone scent in the air. He licks his lips and slits his eyes slightly, but he continues the punishment.
Early Evening
On his Night Fury's back, Hiccup comes down the steps with a giddy grin on his freckled face. After the punishment was over and the human's entire body was caked with dragon slobber, the result ended with the blacker-than-coal dragon taking Hiccup right then and there as he buried himself deep within his more miniaturized lover. Hiccup noticed that during mating, his dominant seemed a bit more possessive than expected, but chalked it up to Toothless enjoying the sight of his submissive slobber-coated skin.
The dragon allows his beloved to get off his back once he makes it over the sink, where the meat is currently thawed out, then goes over and starts a fire to cook the meat. Hiccup smiles, brings the meat plate over, gently places it in a pan over the fire to cook, and rests against his lover's side. "You know Gobber made this for me?" The jewel of Berk gestures to his metal leg and says, "He taught me everything I needed to know about blacksmithing; that's how I was able to build your tail so quickly." Hiccup spoke as said tail came up and tapped under his chin, causing a giggle from Hiccup's mouth.
"He is a wonderful teacher. I also noticed that you were sad and often looked at your uncle sadly. Is something wrong with him?" The mighty dragon asked gently.
The chief's son looks at the meat with a far-off gaze. "Well, not physically, but Gobber made weapons for war. Whenever there was a raid or enemy attack, Gobber was the man you went to. But now that the war with dragons is over, Mildew believes that I destroyed Gobber's purpose in life."
Toothless growls a little at the old geezer's comments but leans down and licks his mate's cheek, "War is still going to happen, not with dragons but with humans. Not you specifically, but stories I remember hearing from older dragons in the nest that humans start wars over just about anything. And not even war; you need weapons to defend yourself; not all of the Vikings here are accepting of the dragons just yet, Hiccup."
Hiccup thinks about his dragon's words and nods, knowing that the people of Berk still need weapons to defend.
Suddenly, Stoick staggers into the house looking like he just wrestled a Gronkle and won. He sees his son and the Night Fury curled up together as Hiccup cooks dinner.
"Tough day of chiefing, Dad?" Hiccup asked as he gently used tongs to grab the cooked meat and placed it on the table for them to eat.
Stoick sighs as he rubs his head. He names off all the things he had to do throughout the day and how much time it took to complete each task. "Sometimes I wish there were two of me, " he comments as Hiccup brings his sire a mug of ale, and Stoick grabs one meat leg and begins to eat.
After grabbing his meat and allowing Toothless to inspect it, Hiccup begins to eat before he pauses and has an epiphany: "Dad, there are two of you."
The chief of Berk glares at his offspring, irritated, "Is that another crack about my weight?" He roars angrily, slamming his fist onto the table, causing Toothless to stop eating. He pulls Hiccup to him protectively, growling at the human chief for yelling at his submissive. The protected human places his hand on the dragon's snout. "It's ok, my love." He whispers to Toothless, who leans down and licks his mate's forehead. "No, I meant Gobber; he can be your counterpart. He's my unofficial uncle, and you consider him a brother, like Uncle Spitlout and Haork." Hiccup points out.
The older Haddock relaxes primarily not to enrage the growling Night Fury but also from his son's words, though he's cautious. "I don't know; Gobber's busy making all those dragon-killings." Stoick pauses when he hears a deep snarl from Toothless and sees Hiccup pale a little. "Never mind, we don't do that anymore, but we still need weapons."
"I can make weapons. Come on, Dad, give him a chance." Hiccup pleads.
Stoick concedes, "It might not be a terrible idea, and I could use a right hand in the village. Alright, tomorrow I'll give it a try. Now, let's continue eating."
Hiccup smiles and hugs his dominant mate tightly before crawling out from underneath Toothless and heading back to his seat, while Toothless continues to eat the two pieces of lamb that Hiccup cooked.

While Stoick reluctantly went to recruit Gobber to handle half of the tasks that the chief does, Hiccup and Toothless, after checking in on the dragons and Hiccup playing with the hatchlings despite his heartache, decide to head down to the beaches where Vikings are fishing and Nadders are trying to help, but the humans refuse.
"Ok, I want you to lead the group of nadders out to sea with nets and catch nets of fish." Hiccup explains to Astrid, who's riding Eragon, since Hiccup believed that the shieldmaiden needed to get comfortable with riding Eragon, since Nadder mating season was due to start and Stormfly would likely end up pregnant.
"Woah, woah, easy, Eragon." Astrid stutters with fearful eyes as the male Nadder is bigger than Stormfly; even his wingspan is longer than Stormfly's, and the muscles in his back are much more substantial.
"I'm trying to stay as leveled as possible. It's just the feeling of having a human on my back; I'm not entirely used to it." Eragon admitted.
"It's okay, Eragon. Remember that Astrid is a part of your flock, and you and she need to trust one another; otherwise, the trio of the three of you working together won't work." Toothless reminds him as he comes in for a landing and keeps Hiccup close to him as Eragon lands and Astrid dismounts.
"Aye, ye pests, go away!" Vikings yell as nadders swarm around and try to pick up the nets' help, but are met with frustrated vikings and oars to the face.
"STOP!" Hiccup shouted as he locked eyes with the oars and spoke the spell hamla, brotna, and the oars that hit the dragons burst into debris. "Please let the dragons help; they just want to ensure both you and they have enough fish."
"Bah! I've fished by myself for fifty years, and I'm not about to let some lizards come in and take a lifelong tradition." One of the older Vikings remarked bitterly.
"But they want to help; we can show you," Astrid replies as she hops onto Eragon.
Getting the gist of the nadder rider's words, Hiccup nods and walks over to the flock of nadders, who land and bow to their queen. "You all want to help these humans, right?" He asked.
"I want fish to store up for when my mate has our hatchlings." A blue and orange male nadder piped up.
"And we understand that, but if you work together with the fishermen, then two problems can be solved." Toothless rumbles beside his mate.
"Look, I know this generation of Vikings is tough and stubborn, but if you show them that you both have the same goals, then maybe middle ground can be found." the Alpha's mate stammers while looking back and forth at the flock of Nadders in front of them, feeling nervous and worried.
The spiny-tailed dragons look at one another and nod as Eragon leads them to open waters.
Hiccup exhales deeply, then turns his attention back to the irritated boaters. "Alright, sail out to where the dragons are circling and throw your nets into the air."
"And why should we listen to you, saurgr?" Hiccup heard Dogsbreath's voice, saw the bulky young adult on the first boat with a deep scowl on his dirty face, and heard his mate's snarls beside him.
"Well, um, would you rather starve?" The leader of the dragons stutters nervously as the Vikings look at one another, and a few of them grunt and sail their boats out until they're underneath the circling nadders.
"Ok, Vikings nets!" Astrid commands, and five nets from each boat fly into the air. "Nadders, catch, and let's go fishing!" She commands Eragon to catch a net and swoop down into the water.
The other nadders follow, and soon the nets are brimming with fish. Eragon attempts to land on the ship, but his recollection of his dam's death aboard a Viking ship spooks him. This causes the male Nadder to become erratic in his flight.
"Oh no." Hiccup panics as he climbs onto Toothless's back and flies out to the scene.
"Spotty, come and take Eragon's cargo, and Eragon, go land on the shore!" The pitch-black Alpha commanded as his back fins glowed blue.
As Astrid clings desperately to Eragon's neck, a yellow nadder with green spots covering her body approaches and follows orders.
"Maybe I could try to calm him down by singing." Hiccup made the suggestion, but Toothless shook his head.
"No, there's only one way to calm him." The Alpha flaps his wings to position himself directly before the erratic Nadder. Then, the nubs on the top of Toothless's head glow blue. "Eragon." He spoke as he placed his paw on the nadder's soft spot and used it to apply pressure while the nadder stared at the glowing blue nubs. Suddenly, Eragon's eyes widened before closing.
"Astrid, jump over." Hiccup yelled, seeing that Eragon was going to fall.
The blonde-haired does as instructed, as a few Nadders grab a falling Eragon and place him on the shoreline. After the Vikings thank the dragons, they head back to the coastline, where Astrid quickly runs up to Eragon and sighs in relief as she hears breathing.
"What happened?" Hiccup asked as Toothless filled him in. "Oh, that's awful." He gasps.
"What is?" Astrid asks.
"When Eragon was a hatchling, he witnessed his mother being captured and pinned down to a boat as she was killed. He was only able to escape because of his father, who was also there." Hiccup tells the shieldmaiden.
"How awful. To see that at such a young age." Astrid whimpers with sad, filled eyes as she recalls herself killing dragons at a young age.
The fishermen helped by the nadders were still a bit reluctant to have dragons work with them, but thought it wouldn't be so bad every now and then.
"I'll take that as a win. By the way, Toothless also said where he touched is a Nadder's sweet spot. "Every dragon has a sweet spot," he added as he rested a hand on Eragon's snout.
"Woah, I never thought about that. How long will he be out?" Astrid asked.
"Eh, a few hours tops. I'm sure the other nadders can give you a ride back." Hiccup suggests as the flock nods. As he begins to take off, he hears a familiar voice.
"Hey, useless; I don't need a lizard to get work done." Dogsbreath smirked as he managed to net a whole catch.
Stoick's little runt rolled his eyes, and he and Toothless headed off to check on things in the village.
Later that evening, Hiccup is seen spreading some seasoning on some smoked fish that Toothless had cooked enough not to burn them, as Hiccup waits for the soup to be done. He then hears the door open and hears his father's heavy sigh. Hiccup grabs a mug and pours it full of ale. "Here you go, "faðir." Hiccup offers the cup to his father, who holds two ice blocks. "Wow. A headache that requires two blocks. I take it that Gobber's first day was unsuccessful.
"No, it wasn't." Stoick begins to complain about everything Gobber did wrong.
"Well, maybe tomorrow will be better." The boy suggested it hopefully.
"Oh, it will be because it won't involve Gobber." The elder Haddock decides.
"You can't just give up on him; we have to help him." Hiccup argues.
"Oh no, we don't have to do anything. You, on the other hand, will be busy tomorrow."
Hiccup gulps as Toothless growls.
Týsdagr
Hiccup had summoned the leading dragon riders and their dragons to the Academy to tell them what his father wanted.
"You're bringing Gobber here? Fishlegs cautiously asked.
"Look, I don't like it either, but maybe it'll work. Gobber has seen more dragons, so maybe he could share some of his experiences." The younger blacksmith laughed, trying to sound optimistic and encouraging.
Suddenly, the door opens, and Gobber hobbles in with a cart stacked with dragon-killing weapons.
"I'm back! Did you miss me?" The older blacksmith announced to all. The dragon eyed the weapons with explicit intimidation.
Hiccup cautiously approaches his uncle. "First of all, welcome. And second, why did you bring weapons with you?" He gestures to the weapons as he, too, eyes them warily.
"Well, I thought we could train the dragons in the Viking way, by threatening to kill them." Gobber suggests as he takes out a sword mixed with an axe and a mace. "It's how my father taught me and how Stoick's father taught all of us boys."
Toothless snarls at the weapons and Gobber as the other dragons become frightened and fly off. "Stupid human." He growls as he fires off a plasma blast and destroys the cart of weapons while Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, and the twins all rush after their dragons.
"Aye, Toothless, those were my favorite weapons!" Gobber exclaimed as Hiccup smacked himself in the face with the palm of his hand.
A few hours later, after Gobber decides to work in the shop, Hiccup and Toothless stay in the Academy and watch Meatlug and Rocky's hatchlings play.
"Quartz, don't eat Axton." The queen of dragons scolded the adorable baby Gronckle as Quartz nibbled on his brother's ear.
"Maybe he tastes like rocks, Elskede?" The black dragon teases as it earns a chuckle from its lover.
The Alpha's guard comes flying in, all exhausted and in their eyes with exhausted riders on their backs, as Meatlug and Rocky quickly come over and check on their hatchlings.
Hiccup notices the exhausted looks on the riders' faces. "What's wrong with you guys?"
Astrid looks down from Stormfly's back. "Ugh. We've been riding our dragons for hours; it took us forever to get them to come to us and calm them down after Gobber scared them.
"Is the crazy blacksmith gone?" Eragon asked nervously as his eyes darted over each area of the arena.
The auburn teen looks at his cousin and the other riders in confusion as he nods to the male Nadder. "I've ridden on Toothless for hours and never had a problem."
"Heh, that's because you're used to taking it in the" Snotlout started, but Hookfang bucked him off, and the black haired teen landed in another water trough.
"I swear he's going to learn respect for you, Luna, even if I use force to do it." The orange and red dragon threatens. Hiccup silently pleads, biting his lip, that the nightmare doesn't accomplish that.
"And don't you have a saddle on Toothless's back? I'm sure that's much more comfortable than riding bareback." As Belch collapses in exhaustion, Tuffnut points out the difference.
"Please don't let that crazy one-legged man kill us with those weapons!" Barf and Belch panicked.
"He won't, I promise." Hiccup assures the zipperback.
"It would be a good idea for our guard to have saddles as well. Maybe the rest of the villagers who have bonded with a dragon would want one as well." Toothless coos.
The night fury's mate nods, "I think I know the person for the job." He heads out of the Academy with Toothless in tow and runs into Gobber's shop, "sǫðull." Hiccup breathes out in one breath as Toothless nuzzles his mate's mating mark.
"Come again." Gobber inquired, looking at his apprentice.
"You can make saddles for the dragons." Hiccup elaborates on his thoughts.
Gobber thinks about it before agreeing, "You're right, I can, and you know what? I have so many ideas already."
"Well, if you need blueprints, I have Toothless's tail fin blueprints in the back." Hiccup begins to head towards the back, but his elder stops him.
"Hiccup, Hiccup, remember I taught you everything you know about blacksmithing, but I didn't teach you everything I know. I have been making useful inventions since you were in diapers. In fact, I made your diapers."
Hiccup sighs and rolls his eyes, realizing this is another one-sided conversation. But keep in mind, every dragon is different." He tries to explain, but the one-armed viking goes about his business.
"Let's take our leave, Schatje." Toothless ushers his mate out of the shop, but not before they hear Gobber singing a joyful and boisterous tune.
"You know, he doesn't sing that song unless he's actually pleased. I think I did a beneficial thing." With hope dancing in his green eyes, Hiccup informs his mate.
"Yes, you did, although you shouldn't have to find Gobber something to do." Toothless rumbles as he continues to hear the awful singing. "I much prefer your singing voice to that." He adds as Hiccup laughs.
"I'll give you a private concert." He teases as the Night Fury chuckles, and the mates head to their nest.
Óðinsdagr
Hiccup stands in the middle of the academy with Silent Sven and his Zipplebacks, named Yin and Yang.
"Ok, so when you want Yin to blow out gas, you gesture like this." The teen points to the right head and then pretends to blow gas out of his mouth.
Yin does the same except without using his paw, and gas comes out of his mouth.
"Then for Yang, you simply do this." Hiccup makes a hand gesture that looks as if he blew up something in his hand as Yang sparks, and a small explosion occurs when the attack hits the target.
Sven looks at the boy like he's lost his mind and rolls his eyes in annoyance.
"Well, um, it's the only option I can think of because they can't read your mind. You came up with their names, so that's a wonderful start."
"Yeah, but Yin and Yang, I don't know about those names, mutters Tuffnut blankly as he and his sister watch from atop Barf and Belch, their heads propped up on their hands.
Despite his belief that the chief's son's idea of dragons and vikings coexisting is ludicrous and unrealistic, Sven finds Hiccup's claim of falling in love with a dragon completely barbaric, even for a viking. Sven is at least grateful that Hiccup is patient and willing to help the silent Viking out. He nods and motions for his dragon to follow as he leaves the arena.
"Good day, Alpha, Queen." The Zippleback heads addressed Hiccup and Toothless as they passed by and followed their human companion.
"And I strike out at being a good teacher yet again." The inventive human sighs sadly in a bleak tone but moans slightly when he feels his mating mark being nuzzled.
"No, he's just like the rest of these ungrateful humans. You did great, my love." The black-as-ink dragon corrects.
Hiccup shrugs, not fully believing his dominant's words, but he instead leans into the touch and even falls into his mate's waiting paws as Toothless becomes a bit more possessive and licks more of Hiccup's bare flesh. He sits in his mate's paws on the ground, ignoring the twin's questions as he becomes engrossed in his lover's touch until someone clears their throat.
"Do you mind not doing that in public? You don't see others flaunting their relationship, even this relationship is unusual by Viking standards." Astrid sneers with her signature glare and pout.
"And why would I hide my relationship with Toothless when I'm proud of it and also who my mate is?" Hiccup responded, observing the shield maiden smoldering with anger and a hint of jealousy in her icy blue glare.
Suddenly, Gobber walks into the old arena with his wagon barrel full of saddles with heavy and small weapons, as all the dragons tense up and prepare to take off yet again. "I assure you it would be effortless for old Gobber to construct five saddles. Here we are." He pulls the sheet off to reveal the heavily equipped saddles.
While the other riders ooh and ahh over the saddles, Hiccup and Toothless look at them skeptically and worry. "Wow, Gobber. This is certainly not what I imagined." The dragon whisperer speaks with a bit of shock.
Missing the message in his godson's words, Gobber laughs, "How could it be? I'm Gobber! Nobody knows what it's like to live here." He taps his helmet.
Snotlout grabs one of the bigger saddles. "Hey, I wonder what this thing does?" He pushes a button, and a flame shoots out of the blower.
"Really? A flamethrower for Snotlout?" Hiccup deadpans at Gobber.
"Hehe, you didn't see that one coming, did you?" Gobber chuckles.
"Um, no, because dragons come with a flamethrower built in." Hiccup remarks.
The twins strap their saddles to Barf and Belch, load the catapults with stones, and launch them. They strike Barf and Belch on the back of the head and knock them out completely.
" Uh, catapults for the twins? Not such a beneficial idea." Hiccup mutters as he goes over and begins to heal the two-headed dragon while Toothless growls at the twins and Gobber.
Both Meatlug and Rocky wear saddles with hammers, while the Gronckles with Fishlegs on Meatlug's back struggle to fly in the air, barely able to hover.
"You can do it, girl! Think light." The younger Ingerman cheers on, but Meatlug also collapses under the weight as Rocky does.
"I think one of the spikes on this hammer is puncturing my side." The female gronkle cries.
"Far too many weapons." The male tries but fails to get off the ground once again.
"Oh, come on! You can't tell me my saddle is heavier than Fishlegs!" Gobber declared with disappointment.
"My mom says I'm just husky." Fishlegs replies with watery eyes, clearly saddened by Gobber's choice of words.
Astrid sores around the old arena atop Stormfly with her new saddle. "This saddle's pretty good." She smiles, enjoying having something sturdy to hold on to during the flight.
"How do I look, Eragon?" Stormfly asked, showcasing her blue scales and new saddle.
"Absolutely divine, my beauty." The male nadder responds as he becomes lost in the image of his lovely mate.
"Wait 'till you try the horn!" Gobber shouted with a gleeful smile.
Astrid blew on the horn hanging off the saddle, growing until it was as big as Stormfly. It blew a loud honk into the Nadder's ear, causing her to be startled. Hiccup, who forms a shield around his cousin, saves her as her tail pricks up and her spine shoots straight at Snotlout.
"Hey, keep your spikes to yourself!" The nightmare rider points at Astrid, who glares at the younger Jorgenson so harshly that it paralyzes him with fear.
"Are you alright, Stormfly?" Hiccup asked the Nadder, petting her snout in comfort.
"Yes, my queen, I was just startled, that's all." The blue and yellow dragon assures the young Hiccup.
Hiccup accepts the answer but quickly diverts his attention as he hears his dominant snarling at Snotlout and Gobber, who try and fail to place a saddle on Hookfang. The nightmare thrashes around and growls deeply at his rider and the blacksmith as he grabs the saddle in his maw, only to roar, throw it into the wall, and leave the arena enraged. "Um, Snotlout, are you sure Hookfang is okay?" Hiccup asks his cousin with a face full of concern.
"Of course he is. He just doesn't like the saddle that Gobber made him; it's too tight and doesn't represent who Hookfang really is as the fierce dragon he is." Snotlout scoffs.
"Okay." Hiccup sighs and turns to Gobber.
But Gobber interrupts his godson. "Don't worry; I already have so many improvement ideas." He slaps his godson on the back hard, causing the petite human to fall to the ground and kiss the floor of the arena.
Toothless quickly forgets about ensuring the royal guard is alright and swiftly goes to his submissive while glaring at the older blacksmith's retreating form. "There is no way in Helium he is making adjustments for my saddle or any other dragon in our flock." He declares with a low growl.
Hiccup nods in agreement and stands up, only to duck down again. Snotlout accidentally triggers the flamethrower on Hookfang's saddle, and the flame nearly takes Hiccup's hair off. He gasps as he sees the teen dodging Astrid's strikes with her fist.
Toothless, however, isn't so docile about the incident and decides to personally teach Snotlout a lesson about actions and consequences as he pins Snotlout down and shows his razor-sharp teeth as he snarls in the teen's face.
While his dominant mate deals with his cousin, Hiccup goes over to Barf and Belch as he uses his healing power to see that the wound is healing on the inside and no permanent damage will happen. "Apply an ice block to this area tonight, and they will return to their previous state in the morning."
The twins nod as they hold Barf and Belch's heads in their arms, looking at the dragon with sober faces, full of remorse.
Hiccup looks over at his lover and sees him towering over a cowering Snotlout, growling loudly and pretending to strike at the teen but only hitting the air. The point is made as clear as day: "Ok, love, I think you made your point; can we go? I'm getting hungry." Hiccup suggests gesturing to his slim stomach and rubbing it.
The black-as-night nods and snarls once more at Snotlout, who cringes and covers himself with his arms as Toothless allows Hiccup onto his back, and the Night Fury heads out of the old arena, but he asks the dominant dragon to stop.
"I'll remake the saddles, and we can try them out possibly next week for now; just bear with riding bareback." Hiccup proclaimed as he and Toothless walked out of the arena and to the Great Hall.
Great Hall
"I really need to install a fish pantry or something here. It's ridiculous to trudge all the way to the docks and grab a basket full of fish and drag it all the way to the Great Hall." Hiccup complains as he cuts his chicken leg after Toothless inspected it.
"Easy, Hiccup, Vikings still need to get used to dragons being in the Great Hall." Toothless gestures to a few Vikings at a corner table. The dragon can hear the Berkians gossiping about child-dragon relations and how the village is deteriorating.
Hiccup huffs and continues to eat, but soon he sees his father walking towards him, his demeanor one of shock and confusion.
"My Odin! The arena looked better when we were killing dragons!" Stoick exclaimed as he sat down at the table with his son.
Said son shrugged and kept eating. " Yeah, we got 'Gobbered.'
Stoick chuckled. "Well, you know Gobber. He means well; he just doesn't always do well. What steps do you plan to take regarding him? He asked his son.
"I'm going to redo the saddles to fit each of the riders' dragons and teach them how to care for the saddles." Hiccup explained.
The chief hears the disdain in his son's voice and sighs, "Look; Gobber's like family—" Stoick starts, but Hiccup stops him.
"Yeah, I know he is! That's why I can't say anything to him." Hiccup vents in frustration as Toothless pauses his eating, hearing the undertone of anger in his mate's voice.
Ignoring the anger coming from Hiccup, The leader of Berk continues looking directly at his son's glowering face, " No, son, that's why you have to. It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to Gobber."
Hiccup stands up and places his hands on the table, his eyes blazing with anger, his food forgotten. "Why do I have to say something to him?! You didn't! You just handed him over to me!"
Unfazed by his son's outburst, Stoick simply continues. "That's what the chief does; he delegates. Look, I'm going to be candid with you, son. I gave you the Academy because it's the best thing for Berk. Now you have to do what's best for the Academy. And I'm sorry, son, but what's best is very rarely what's easy."
Now it was Toothless's turn to get angry. "That's not how a leader delegates. Just because someone would rather not do what's right doesn't mean you push it off on someone else. When you're in charge, you have to deal with difficult choices, even if they involve family. He growls and proceeds to grab Hiccup and take him out of the Great Hall, leaving a perplexed and shouting Stoick behind. Once far enough away, Toothless places Hiccup on the ground. "Your father doesn't know how to delegate." He rumbles as he lies on his side and lifts a wing for Hiccup to lie under, which the human does.
"I mean, I understand Gobber is family and he's trying, but it puts the dragon and the other riders in danger. And as for my dad, he's a good chief but feels like he and only he can do the big, important jobs. Other tasks, such as managing conflicts with other Vikings, are not his responsibility. Hiccup comments as he relaxes against his lover's side.
Suddenly, the mates heard a noise, and Toothless tensed up, covering Hiccup with his wing.
"Easy Toothless, I approached to talk to Hiccup". Gobber whispered.
Hiccup lifts the wing and sees his godfather with new saddle designs. "Oh, this will be difficult," he thought. He thought.
"See, I figured the saddles from before were a bit too much, so I designed fancier ones and even made one for Toothless." Look at what it can do." The one-armed Viking showed off his designs, but Hiccup held his hands up.
"Gobber, listen, I appreciate your efforts, but um, I think your skills are needed elsewhere and not making saddles." Hiccup said quickly. 'Oh, the pain hurts so much.' His thoughts inform him.
Gobber's face dissolves into confusion to realize, "I know I messed up today. Given my extensive experience in weaponry, I assumed saddles would be an obvious choice. I guess I was wrong." The blacksmith's voice is depressing, and he begins to walk away, seeing lingering tears in his eyes as his head slouches and his shoulders sag.
"Gobber, I, I." Hiccup tries to speak, but his uncle stops him.
"No, no, it's ok, Hiccup. I believe my time has passed." He continues to walk until he's out of sight, leaving Hiccup feeling guilty.
"Well, that was awful. I don't know what could be worse than that." Hiccup sighs, but then he and Toothless notice flames spouting from the village. They also see a worn-out Snotlout running up the hill, out of breath with fear in his eyes.
I never thought. I'd say this… But Hiccup… HELP!" He shouts in panic.
The three of them run to the village and see Hookfang thrashing around and behaving erratically, spewing fire everywhere. He also shakes his head and rubs his face on the ground.
"Everyone, back away! The dragon has lost its control! It's not safe here!" As Hiccup casts spells and shields around the Berkians, Stoick declares that the situation is unsafe.
"When was the last time he ate anything?" Hiccup asked his cousin.
"Not for days." Snotlout admits in a weeping tone.
"Hookfang, tell me what is causing you such distress." Toothless asks about the nightmare as he tries to get closer.
"It hurts! It fucking hurts!" The nightmare roared aggressively.
"I just don't understand. I was just petting his head; he usually loves that, but then he started acting like this. "My dragon hates me." Snotlout whimpers with a trembling lip and a crestfallen look.
"No, something is wrong with him; the question is what." Hiccup remarked as he, too, asked Hookfang what was going on, along with a fish in hand. "Hey, it's okay. Are you hungry? Here I have some fish." Hiccup spoke calmly and placed his hand on Hookfang's snout.
"My Queen." Hookfang whimpers until Hiccup moves along his jaw, and then the dragon roars in agony and begins to unleash fire.
"Hiccup run!" Astrid screeches as Toothless comes and grabs Hiccup and growls at Hookfang.
"Toothless, no!" Hiccup tries to calm his mate down.
"He attacked you." The Night Fury growled with slitted eyes.
"I know, but something's not right. It's not hunger; otherwise, he would have eaten the fish," Hiccup says. "I have a plan." He looks over and sees Sid in the crowd. "Sid, I need you to go get Gobber." Hiccup hollered.
"What, are you kidding me? I'm not doing anything for you, runt." Sid scoffed, only to come face-to-face with a snarling nightfury. "Okay, after reconsidering, I'll proceed." He quickly runs to the blacksmith shop. "Gobber, we need you."
"No, you don't. No one needs me." Gobber's voice quivers.
"There's an out-of-control dragon in the plaza." Sid continues, panicking at what Toothless will do if he doesn't bring the blacksmith.
"So why don't you call Hiccup!" The depressed Viking exclaimed, still not turning to face the young adult.
"He says he has a plan but needs your help." Sid pressures once again. He notices that the blacksmith continues to ignore the situation. You know, Hiccup will always be useless to me, and most of the villagers agree, but I trust you. You fought dragons and defended Berk and have seen more combat than I'll ever see; you are the perfect man for the job." Sid praises.
Gobber fights the urge to slay the young man for bad-mouthing his godson but holds it in as he looks up at his weapons with a side glance.
Odis, Sven, and Hoark throw nets at Hookfang and hammer them down, but he burns them to a crisp.
"Please make it stop; it hurts so bad!" Hookfang below.
"There may be only one way to deal with this. I'm sorry, son, but we must kill the dragon." Stoick observes Hookfang from his hiding place, accompanied by his son and the other riders. Toothless tries to find a way to calm Hookfang down without using his Alpha voice or harming his friend more.
"NO! Both Hiccup and Snotlout yelled in anguish. Someone shouted for Gobber to watch out as the heavy Viking stepped into the battle.
"Throw ropes all around him and hold him down tightly." As the most potent Vikings swiftly threw ropes over Hookfang's form and even tied down his maw, Gobber gave the command.
"Gobber, no, please don't kill him!" Hiccup runs out to meet Gobber.
At that moment, Hookfang broke the ropes over his maw, and he opened it wide as a nasty breath breathed over Hiccup and Gobber, and several nasty teeth were shown.
"You see those?" Gobber asked as Hiccup nodded, and both of them covered their noses in disgust as the wave of horrible, sickly breath came out of the nightmare's maw.
"That's it. That's the source of his pain. TOOTHLESS! PIN HIM!" Hiccup yells at his dominance.
The Night Fury nods and pins the Nightmare down by its neck. "THIS IS FOR YOUR GOOD!" The dangerous dragon snarls in his Alpha voice as Hookfang struggles hard.
Gobber pries the nightmare's mouth open with ropes as he hammers them down, exposing the rotting teeth. "NOW HICCUP!" He yells as the struggling nightmare begins to break the rope.
Hiccup closes his eyes, opens his mouth, and begins singing softly, silvery.
Fylg minni leið.

Hookfang and everyone else calm down as Gobber shakes off his sleepiness and uses his hook to pull out the teeth. Meanwhile, while singing, Hiccup uses healing spells to heal any infected areas.
Suddenly, Hookfang's demeanor changes, and he's as calm as a dragon on dragon nip. "I'm free from the pain. Oh, thank you, Luna, Alpha, and simple blacksmith.". He offers gratitude to all, but only Hiccup and Toothless can understand.
"Woah, all of those were in his mouth?" Ruffnut asks, holding up one of the rotten teeth.
"Yep." Gobber inquired as he began to walk away while Snotlout, without anyone knowing, secretly hugged Hookfang, his gestures could be heard as the dragon purred.
Suddenly, Hiccup gets an idea, "Wait, Gobber, I think you just discovered your new job."
A few days later
"Alright, who's next!" Gobber hollered as a Viking brought her terrible terror up so that Gobber could examine its teeth.
"A dragon dentist. Never had a human look at a dragon's teeth before." Toothless coos as he nuzzles his mate's cheek.
"Yep. Now if we could just get one for humans, then we are set. I care for mine, but some of these vikings need work." Hiccup beams as a Viking passes by the mates, and he smiles at them, showing brown teeth, causing them to grimace in horror. They turn back and see Gobber smiling brighter than before and singing a Berkian song as he brushes the terror's teeth, a bounce in his voice and step as he fulfills his new purpose.
