"I guess I didn't want to see Ted all scared and freaked out anymore," said Alvin. "I thought it was going to be funny, but he proved me wrong with the tears."
"Totally understandable," said Dr. Broderick. "I think you did the right thing. Now, tell me how you and Dave are doing."
Alvin sighed sadly. "It's falling apart. But I want to fix it. Dave means a lot to me. He took me and my brothers in when our mom, Vinny, couldn't find the time to take care of us. And he also... gave me this."
Alvin takes off his trademark red ballcap.
"This is why my cap means a lot to me..." he said. "Because Dave gave it to me. It showed how much he cared for me and my brothers."
"Dave plays an important part of your life, doesn't he?"
"Yeah," said Alvin. "Not because he always screams my name, like you hear in our works, but he's... like a dad. He helps us writes songs, our music careers, our life, everything. I just don't know what happened."
"When did you think the falling out began?" asked Dr. Broderick.
"Well... Maybe when we were working on our recent album," said Alvin. "It was the most difficult album we'd ever worked on."
"Did you always fight during the sessions?"
"No. Thankfully. Actually, there was a great memory I had with Dave when we were working on the album. He was trying to write a song, but was feeling down for some reason, I don't know what. Then, I came in the room, I was eating a muffin Ted made that night, it was a pumpkin muffin. I decided to help cheer up Dave and help write his song. And that's how we wrote our lead single to the album, 'Gotta Believe in Pumpkins'. It was written by me and Dave together, that's why I like this song so much. The stuff about my room being a filthy mess was true, by the way. As of now, not perfect, but working on it being clean."
"I've heard that track," said Dr. Broderick. "That's amazing how you and Dave bonded over that song."
"We really did. And by the way, the choir in the track, both of our ideas."
"Even better."
"He also wrote 'I Ain't No Dang Cartoon' for me," said Alvin. "We're gonna do a music video for that next month. It's sort of a silly song we did to end the album. He did a good job on that."
"Interesting. When's the music video coming out?"
"January '93. A few of my fans felt bad for me in the album. They thought I lost everything I had and suffered. For the record, the thing about Brittany and me breaking up was done for the album. We're still together. If only the press would understand that."
"I see."
"Back to me and Dave... Will our relationship get any better?"
"I'm sure they will. I think you need to give it some time, but I know you still love Dave."
"You bet, I do."
"Well, that's all the time we have now."
"Thanks, Doctor Broderick. Same time next week?"
"Yep."
"See you then."
LATER
"Hi, guys," said Alvin, entering the bedroom.
"How'd it go?" asked Simon.
"Fine," said Alvin, going over to his desk and starting in on his homework.
"Woah," said Theodore. "You're actually doing your homework?"
"I just feel a little down today," said Alvin. "I don't feel like doing anything else. Besides, I'm grounded."
"You're still feeling off about your relationship with Dave right now?" asked Simon.
"Yeah," said Alvin. "I still love Dave, really. I just can't understand why we're fighting a lot."
"Hmm..." Simon thought. He's thinking up an idea.
What could Simon be thinking about? Find out soon. Thanks for reading. Stay tuned for more. Happy Easter.
