The day was slowly turning into the evening as the sun is setting on the horizon. Most of Orario's citizens are roaming the city but a small number are mostly normal citizens and not adventurers.
at the Underworld Castle, Bell can be found walking in one of the many hallways of the Home as he is looking around for his father.
"I wonder where dad is?" Bell muttered out as he had been waiting for his father to fetch him so that the two can go back to the Hestia Familia. he glanced to a window and sees the setting sun. "it's getting late."
"I can't believe that Zagreus wants to talk to that ungrateful bitch after what her Familia did!" Thalia's voice was heard as Bell turns towards a large door nearby where the Saint Kaiser's voice came from. "Does he have any idea what hardship that her Familia gave to Meteria all those years ago!?"
"we know where you are going with this, Thalia. But it is still the right thing to do." Ploutos' voice is heard replying to the Saint Kaiser as it sounds like nearly all the Kaisers are gathered within the room and are having an argument of some sort. "we all know that Zagreus has to keep his promise one way or another even if that tragedy had occurred or not."
"Aunt Thalia? Uncle Ploutos?" Bell muttered out as he keeps on hearing their voices in the conversation. He went near the door and just listens quietly to the loud talk that the Kaisers are having inside. "what are they talking about?"
Bell then takes a peek through the keyhole as he sees Melinoe, Polemos, Ploutos, Makaria, and Thalia gathered around together by the middle table.
"I know Meteria better than anyone, she is too kind!" Thalia exclaimed as she sat by the round table. 'if she is still here, she would forgive that bitch and her Familia no matter what!' she then slams a hand to the table. "I know for a fact that she had asked Zagreus to do the same and that is something I won't ever allow!" she then swings her Saint Cross and slams the bottom tip to the floor. "For crying out loud, she died because of them! Why the heck should those bastards be forgiven!?"
"It's because it's who she is." Makaria said as she sat on the armrest of a couch where Melinoe is sitting with her arms and legs crossed. "she doesn't want to forgive them just because she is kind, she wants to forgive them because she wants to forgive them. That's who Meteria is, remember?"
"we remember her nature very well, we love her like Family." Polemos said as he stands nearby with his arms crossed and his face showing a pissed off expression. "but do not forget that Meteria wasn't the only one who is a part of our Family! Alfia was also a member of our Family as well!"
"Polemos, what happened with Alfia can't be said the same as to what happened to Meteria." Ploutos said as he looks at the Arc Kaiser while standing near a fireplace. "I'm not saying that we shouldn't care about what had happened to her back then, I'm just saying that there must be a logical reason why she and Zald turned against Orario that time."
"What other reason is there!?" Polemos exclaimed while swinging a hand to the side and then raising a fist. "She and Zald wanted revenge! They wanted revenge against the maggots, worms, and bastards who dare trample on them like they were trash! I know I would've done the same if I was with them!"
"both of our Familias have helped in the protection of Orario for countless years." Thalia stated in. "just because they failed in their last quest, does that give a good reason for the bastards in this city to just banish them like they were trash? I think not!"
"we've been talking with Hephaestus and it happened because the citizens of the city were in fear of Evilus." Makaria said while waving a hand to the side and then placing it on her lap. "so basically most of it is that worthless organization's fault."
"most of it? most of it!?" Polemos spoke before he shouted in anger. "this is all that bitch's Familia fault, god damnit! it's because of her Helios died! It's because of her, Sotares left our family! It's because of her everyone we knew and loved are all gone! Dead! It was because of her I lost Alfia!" he gripped his fists hard before they get coated in electricity. "I was so close! So close in getting the cure! I was so close! But because of that bitch and those bastard traitors!" the Arc Kaiser's eyes began to glow red and let out discharges of static. "it's because of them I lost her!"
"we also lost many good and close friends, Polemos." Ploutos stated. "we are all in pain from losing them, but the one who is in more pain is Zagreus. You know that, right?"
"he is in pain, but he is keeping that pain to himself." Thalia said as she gets off her seat. "I bet he hasn't even told Bell about his little promise with that elf."
"a promise? What does Aunt Thalia mean by that?" Bell whispered as he looks very confused on what the conversation that the Kaisers are having.
"what do you think you're doing, Bell?" Melinoe's voice spoke out from behind Bell who squeaks in surprise before turning to see the Blade Kaiser suddenly standing behind him. "eavesdropping?"
"A-A-Aunt Melinoe!?" Bell stuttered out in shock before he begins pointing a finger at her and then to the door back and forth. "b-but you were… and then you are… I saw you in..and.."
"one of the most important rules that you need to always remember in this Home, Bell." Melinoe said as she place a hand to her nephew's head and ruffles his hair a bit. "the Kaisers always have eyes in every part of this castle."
"i-I'm sorry… I was just.." Bell spoke out before he gets his hair ruffled even more by Melinoe who smiles.
"it's alright," Melinoe stated. "we were just having some pep talk with one another. Nothing you need to worry about."
"b-but..Aunt Thalia said something about dad not telling me about a promise with an elf.." Bell said before Melinoe place a finger to his lips that made him look surprised. "ughm?!"
The Blade Kaiser looks at her nephew with a bit of a tense expression for a moment before she glance to the door once and then back to Bell. Melinoe took a deep breath and sighs as she pulls her finger back.
"sorry about this, Bell." Melinoe said as her words made her nephew look confused before he gasps once and then close his eyes while falling forward but was quickly caught by the red haired elf.
Melinoe looks at Bell before to the door as it swings open for the other Kaisers to come out.
"what the?" Ploutos said as he looks at Bell and then to Melinoe. "why is Bell here?"
"why indeed, Einstein." Makaria stated as she crosses her arms under her chest. "our little talk was too loud and attracted him."
"How much did he hear?" Thalia asked Melinoe who called two Skeletal Servants to come and carry Bell back to his room.
"hard to tell." Melinoe said as she crosses her arms and watches the two familiars taking Bell away. "had to erase a small portion of his memory to ensure that he doesn't remember anything that we talked about."
"You shouldn't even bother doing that." Polemos stated. "he needs to know now than later."
"it'd be better if he knows later, Polemos." Melinoe said. 'Bell plans to return back to the loli goddess Familia who he wants to forgive tonight.' She then looks at the Arc Kaiser. "he doesn't need to have another problem to think about."
"it's not a problem, it's something he has the right to know since he is Meteria's son, Sister Melinoe." Thalia retorted while tapping her staff to the floor once. "he has to learn about Alfia and he has to learn about that elf's relations to Zagreus."
"hey, Thalia. Things were extremely complicated back then." Makaria said while turning towards her sister. "you know that."
"She has a point." Ploutos said while crossing his arms. "what happened that day was intentionally done to ensure that Bell is safe and sound."
"it won't matter if he doesn't tell him soon." Polemos said while pointing a finger to the side of his head. 'we all know how Bell's personality works, he's like Meteria. He's too naïve and too gullible.' He lowers his hand and then crosses his arms together. "he'll definitely have a hard time living his life if he learns what had happened in the past too late."
"I know." Melinoe said after she sighs. "I know." she raise a hand and massages the bridge of her nose a few times before she turns to look to a nearby window and sees the sun setting and disappearing. "we just got to get Zagreus and persuade him to do it."
Meanwhile at the eastern part of Orario, members of the Loki Familia such as Alicia, Raul, Annakitty, and Gareth can be found walking at the street. The group in search of Riveria who they wish to get back to their Familia.
"any luck?" Aki asked Alicia who had gone to a nearby group of elves to ask information.
"no." Alicia replied with a frown. 'they haven't seen any sign of Riveria-sama in the area.' She then holds her left arm with her right hand. "I'm starting to get worried for her."
"she must really be wanting to leave the Familia.." Raul muttered out with a frown.
"but for what reason?" Aki asked with a frown. "I mean, she just revealed that Bell Cranel is Zagreus Kaiser's son and then she just wants to leave? Why?"
"no clue." Alicia replies while shaking her head.
"Gareth-san, you must know, right?" Raul asked the dwarf who has his arms crossed and his expression forming a big frown on his face. "Gareth-san?"
"this is all our fault..we didn't listen to her..we had given up hope too early." Gareth spoke before he sighs. "if we had been more patient that time…"
"Gareth-san?" Raul called out a bit louder as Gareth made a noise and turns to look at the High Novice. "are you alright, Gareth-san? you didn't reply when I called you three times."
"ah? Ah! R-right!" Gareth said with a few head nods before he looks down with a sigh. "sorry, it's just that… with what has been going on…"
"it must've been tough, right?" Aki asked. "I mean, you, captain, and Riveria all lived through the days back then when the Kaisers were reigning Orario, right? It must've been hell of a tough to live under their tyranny."
"it wasn't tough at all." Gareth said while shaking his head. 'truth to be told, back when the Kaisers were still around 15 years ago. They ruled over Orario in peace and tranquility.' He then sighs again. "the only reason why they are now becoming such tyrants is because of our Familia betraying their trust."
"just because of what had happened in the past, they are taking it out on us right now?" said Raul with a rather surprised and baffled face. "that's just unfair!"
"whether it is fair or not, the Kaisers seek vengeance for what we had done." Gareth said as he scratches his beard a few times before crossing his arms. "or rather….the Kaisers seek vengeance for their lost loved ones.."
"what do you mean by that?" Aki asked.
"ah! Riveria-sama!" Alicia suddenly gasped out as everyone turns towards her pointing at the street with a surprised face.
Gareth and the others look at where Alicia is pointing and they soon spotted Riveria sitting by a table at a café.
"thank the gods we found her!" Aki said with a smile. "let's go and get her!"
"yes!" Alicia nods with a smile as she and the others were about to go to Riveria but they were stopped by Gareth. "wha? Gareth-san?"
"stop." Said the Elgram. "do you not see who she is currently with?"
Everyone looks at him a bit confused before they look at Riveria and soon had surprised faces to see that she was sitting across from Zagreus whose face is revealed to them.
"i-isn't that..!?" Raul stuttered out.
"h-he really does look like Bell Cranel.." Aki spoke out in shock. "or rather… Bell Cranel looks like him."
"w-why is Riveria-sama with him?" Alicia said as she looks at the scene before to Gareth.
"stay where you are." Gareth stated. "we cannot be seen near them."
Gareth and the others began to move away to an alley and then peeks their heads out to watch the high elf with the Kaiser.
With Riveria, the high elf sat silently as she looks extremely sad while looking down to her hands on her lap. Her fingers grasped the skirt part of her attire as she just clenches it.
"he…" Riveria spoke out in a whispering sad yet shaking voice. 'that child really is your child, isn't he? Bell Cranel… he's your son, isn't he?' she clasped her skirt even more. "he's Meteria's child, isn't he?"
Riveria weeps her tears and Zagreus just watches with an emotionless expression on his face. The half elf Kaiser brought the high elf to Mirana's café as he wanted to have a talk with her and that talk involved revealing that Bell is really his son.
"yes. He is." Zagreus replied stoically. "he is my son."
For a moment, Riveria just keeps on looking at her reflection in her tea before she begins to tear up.
"I'm sorry….if I had known…" Riveria whispered out. "if I had been stronger.."
"nothing would've changed." Zagreus spoke out as Riveria made a noise and looks surprised at the Kaiser who held his cup of tea near his lips while having his eyes closed. the half elf took a quick sip before he opens his eyes slowly while putting his cup down on the table. "Whether or not you had realized that Bell Cranel is my son later or earlier, it won't change what history has written in stone." He slowly opens his eyes and they were glowing. "his mother suffered because of what your Familia did. No amount of apologies would suffice in compensating his loss."
Riveria's eyes widen for a moment before she frowns sadly and looks down while tears spill down her eyes.
"I'm sorry… i.." Riveria whispered out in a sad voice. "I tried so hard to convince them, but… I just couldn't stop them… I was… I was too weak…"
"Were you so weak to not ask help with using your high standing?" Zagreus asked before hardening his gaze a bit. "or were you so prideful to not do so?"
Riveria's body tensed up as her tears began to stream down her eyes even more.
"the members of my Familia sacrificed everything to ensure that Orario is safe from harm's way." Zagreus said as he slowly closed his eyes while crossing his arms on his chest. 'we left Orario to fight that monster to keep our city safe, we sacrificed blood, sweat, tears, and even our very lives to fight it so that Orario could be safe, we trusted your Familia to protect this city in our absence, but instead… you went and betrayed us.' He slowly opens his eyes a sliver and showed the sadness within them. "do you have any idea on the betrayal and sadness you inflicted upon us the moment we learned of your Familia's actions? Do you have any idea how much pain you inflicted upon us and our lost loved ones? Do you have any idea….how you broke my heart?"
"i-I'm..i'm sorry… i.." Riveria cried out softly as her tears were dripping endlessly onto her lap. "i… i-I'm so sorry…."
Zagreus watches and listens to her cries as the Kaiser didn't show any signs of concern for it. he merely closed his eyes and held his cup of tea near his lips before drinking it down to the last drop.
"I can't forgive you or your Familia for the betrayal, Riveria. Betraying the trust of the Kaiser Familia is an action with the penalty of death. as the leader, I cannot change this rule." Zagreus said as he placed his cup on the table before slowly getting off his seat. 'But I will overlook it and forgive you along with your Familia just this once' Riveria made a small surprise gasp of noise as she slowly looks up towards the Kaiser who now stands by his seat while looking down at the high elf. "do not misunderstand me. I am not doing this because of what the two of us were back then…" he then looks away while his helmet reforms upon his head and his eyes flash under the visor. "I am forgiving you all because it is one of Meteria's last wishes." The Bloody Kaiser turns his head as his glowing red left eye glances back at the Nine Hells. "she had forgiven you and your familia years ago and therefore I am inclined to do the same as the father of her child." He then looks back forward. "and as her former lover."
Riveria's eyes widened before they shake and quiver in sadness while her teas begin to well up. The high elf tilts her head down as she begins to whimper and sob sadly.
Zagreus hears her sad sobs and whimpers as the Kaiser turns his head slightly to the side in order to take a quick glance before looking back forward.
"Return to your Familia, Riveria." Zagreus said as he placed down several valis to the table in payment for the tea before he went and walked pass her. "And forget about our past together."
Riveria just cries and sobs in sadness alone while Zagreus just walks and gets farther and farther away from her.
Zagreus walks down the street before he went and stopped near an alley where he turns his head to see nothing but crates and garbage.
"go and take her back to your Home." Zagreus said before he turns his head to look forward. "also… keep her safe for me."
The Kaiser then walks away as he left the area and the alley's entrance where Gareth and the others instantly came out of their hiding.
"h-he knew we were here?" Aki asked with a surprised face.
"Did he see us?" Raul muttered out.
"he must have, how do you think he knew that we were hiding in here?" Alicia said before she and the others sees Gareth coming out of the alley and looking at the direction where Zagreus went to.
The Elgram sees the street now empty as the Kaiser is now gone from sight, he then turns towards Mirana's café and towards Riveria.
The high elf continues to cry and sob in tears that endlessly drip down her cheeks. Riveria just cries before she temporarily stops when she felt a hand to her shoulder, she turns and sees Gareth who has a sad frown on his face.
"I'm…" Gareth spoke out before he sighs and looks down. "I'm so sorry for not following your decision that time."
Riveria looks at Gareth before her tears begin to well up and the high elf went back to crying with her hands to her face.
Gareth frowns sadly at Riveria as he looks down while gently patting her shoulder a few times.
Raul and the others come nearby as the three look a bit worried about the crying high elf.
The group comes near as they begin to talk softly to Riveria, asking her if she is alright and everything.
While they were doing so, Zagreus's shadow can be seen on a rooftop as the Kaiser is currently watching the group. His cape flutters and shakes from passing by the wind and his eyes glow under the visor of his helmet.
The Bloody Kaiser stands in silence before he turns his head to the side as Meteria's spirit appears floating beside him. She speaks out to him but the white spirit having a sad voice as she held Zagreus' hand and shakes her head.
"this was the only path I could take." Zagreus said as he looks at Riveria who is being consoled by Alicia and Aki at the moment. 'I am the leader of the Kaiser Familia, and I cannot be too selfish in my actions.' He tilts his head down. "the least that I can do for her… is to let her keep those items for her safety." He then turns to look at Meteria. "..Just that."
Meteria looks at Zagreus for a moment before she looks down and then hugs him.
Zagreus places a hand on the white spirit's back as he caresses her a few times before she lets go and disappears. The Kaiser looks at where she disappeared before he turns his head slightly towards the Loki Familia's members and sees them helping Riveria up and beginning to walk away from the area.
"I really…." Zagreus whispers. "I really wished that things had gone differently for the both of us, Riveria."
Zagreus watches Riveria leave with Gareth and the others before he turns around while waving his cape to the side and just disappears in a black blurring flash.
Meanwhile at an unknown dark place, the Goddess Freyja is found sitting on a chair as she has a displeased frowning expression on her face while looking down at a few books on a table.
Soon, Hedin and Hogni appear from the shadow as the two elven royalties came near their goddess and then bowed.
"Freyja-sama, we have come with a report about Ottar and the Gulliver Brother's actions." Said Hedin.
"have they captured Riveria Ljos Alf as I have planned?" Freyja stated as she turns and looks at her two children with glowing pink eyes.
"n-no, Freyja-sama…" Hogni spoke out as he sounded nervous. "The Arc Kaiser and the Blade Kaiser had come and completely took them all down in an instant."
Freyja hears the reply and instantly gritted her teeth then swings her hand on the table, making the books on it get thrown to the floor.
"every single time!" Freyja exclaimed in anger as she slams her hands on the table and grips her finger on the wooden surface. 'those Kaisers! I had this city in the palm of my hands and that boy was slowly but surely going to be mine! all mine!' her eyes glows even pinker as she sees the sight of the black yet blazing armored demon with the glowing red and blue eyes appearing before her. "those Kaisers! Those annoying Kaisers!"
Hedin and Hogni looks nervous at their goddess because this is the first time in a few years of their lives in her Familia, have they ever seen her looking so angry and frustrated.
"you always get in my way of everything!" Freyja growled out in anger. 'always! Always!' she grips her fingers harder on the table because, in her sight, she sees the blazing armored demon transforming into the blazing black woman with glowing red eyes that grew and disappears before the demon returned along with the other blazing entities that stood in between her sights on Bell. "Hades! Kaisers!"
Hours of time soon passes as the sun is now gone and the moon with the stars in the night sky appeared. Orario is mostly quiet and serene as there is not much noise coming from the citizens.
At the Underworld Castle, Bell is found asleep on his bed in his room as he just snores lightly while inside his dreams.
The young man ventures in his dreams before he made a small grunt and began to squint his eyes a few times before opening them. Bell wakes up as he looks in a confused daze.
"where?" Bell muttered out as he place a hand to his head and rubs it a few times. "what was i?"
"you fell asleep." Zagreus' voice came as Bell turns to see his father standing near the window of the room, the Kaiser is looking at the moon before turning around to look at his son. "I just came in to get you but found you asleep instead."
"eh?" Bell said as he looks around for a moment before he scratches the back of his head. "I must've slept on the bed when I was waiting.."
"I believe so." Zagreus replied before he glanced at the night sky outside. "anyway, it's already very late. I suggest we go to your Familia on the next day."
"ah… it's already this late?" Bell asked as Zagreus nods in response before he sees the young man having a frown.
"what's wrong?" the man asked his son.
"I just….i'm just a bit nervous that's all." Bell said as he looks down to his lap. "I shouted at everyone and then.."
"that is nothing to be sorry about." Zagreus stated in while crossing his arms on his chest. 'they kept a secret and didn't trust you at all. that is something worth to be angered upon.' He then looks to the night sky once again. "if you have hesitation about your decision, then it'd be best if we don't go to the Hestia Familia tomorrow." The Kaiser turns to the side and shrugs his shoulders. "In my defense, those who had betrayed one's trust does not deserve forgiveness." He then hardens his gaze a bit. "even those we loved in our hearts."
"no….i want to forgive them, dad." Bell said as Zagreus turns to look at him. 'I am a bit hesitant to meet them, but I want to meet them so that I can patch things up.' He looks down and grasped his pants a bit. "I don't want to keep being angry at them, I just want things to go back like it used to be, and i…" he raised a hand and scratches his cheeks a few times. "I just got a feeling that I should forgive them and give them a second chance."
"for what reason do you wish to forgive and give them a second chance?" Zagreus said.
"I don't know… I just got a feeling that I should do so." Bell replied after shaking his head once. "and for some reason….i feel like it would be what mom would do.."
Zagreus looks at Bell for a moment before he glance to his side and sees Meteria's spirit appearing beside him. the female spirit floats behind her son as she looks at him before to the Kaiser who she nodded once to and then disappeared a second later.
'he wishes to forgive instead of hating like you do….' Zagreus closed his eyes and sighs a bit before he turns around to face the window then looks outside once again. '…but I guess I should've expected this since he is your child and all.' the Kaiser soon let out a small sigh and then turns to look at Bell. 'I just hope that this is the right path.'
"very well." Zagreus stated. "if you still wish to come to the Hestia Familia's Home tomorrow, I will allow it and accompany you. I have some things to rule out to them as well."
"alright." Bell nods with a smile. "thanks, dad."
Zagreus nods before he turns and looks to the window
"it's getting late, rest again." Zagreus said as he walks away from the window and towards the door where he stands near while looking at Bell. "if you are hungry or in need of anything, you can ask help from the Skeletal servants stationed outside of your room, understand?"
"yes." Bell nodded. "good night, dad."
Zagreus nods back before he pushes the door open and exited the room then close it. the Kaiser now stands in the hallway where the other Kaisers were standing around and awaited him.
"so? Did he act strangely?" Makaria asked Zagreus who had snapped his fingers once in creating glowing white magic runes to appear all around Bell's door.
"he doesn't remember the conversation that you had with one another." Zagreus replied before he looks sternly at Melinoe. "do not try to try to alter his memories without my permission and of your own volitation. You had nearly wiped all his memory of today and would've led to trouble if I had not reversed it in time."
"I'll keep that in mind the next time he eavesdropped on a private conversation." Melinoe said while crossing her arms under her chest. She then raised an eyebrow. "so? he doesn't remember what we all talked about that time, right?"
"he doesn't." Zagreus said while crossing his arms. "but he still wishes to return to the Hestia Familia no matter what. he wishes to forgive them for their actions."
"they betrayed and hurt him, yet he still wants to forgive them.." Ploutos said before he looks down and sighs while shrugging his shoulders. "but I guess it should've been obvious since he's Meteria's child and all."
"indeed." Thalia stated with a nod before she turns towards Zagreus. "but I believe that this is a bad choice. Bell is far safer with us than with those people at the Hestia Familia."
"we have more than one reason as to not trust them after all." Polemos stated added in crossing his arms and hardening his gaze a bit. "they're nothing but danger magnets considering all of their background and current standing."
"no kidding." Melinoe said while crossing her arms. 'a Renard who is highly sought after by many for their Spiritual power, a Crozzo who creates powerful magic swords and is hated by all elves, a pallum who had nearly killed Bell in a trap, a far eastern girl who did nothing but let a pass parade on him, and lastly a Goddess who dare be selfish to him.' she uncrossed her arms and place them on her waist. "I'd say we just get rid of them just for existing."
"if we did that, Bell will be suspicious whether or not we tried something on them." Makaria said while shaking her head. 'I've once checked on Bell and found out that he has resistance to our powers.' She then turns towards Zagreus. "especially towards yours, Zagreus."
"you think that Bell would remember them if we wipe his memories clean of those maggots?" Polemos asked.
"it's a possibility." Makaria nodded. "and that possibility is caused by the awakening of the Liaris Freese within him."
"with how long it has been awakened, it was just a matter of time for it to grow stronger than it had been intended to do so, huh?" Ploutos said while rubbing two fingers on his chin. He then glanced at Zagreus. "you think there's a way to seal that skill and make it go dormant again?"
"no, there isn't." Zagreus said. 'I created that skill to regress Bell's sickness and to allow him to grow strong and healthily.' He then close his eyes. "the only reason why it had become stronger, is because of who he is."
"like father like son, is it?" Thalia said while waving her staff to the side and tapping its bottom to the floor once.
"What are we supposed to do then?" Melinoe asked while waving a hand to the side. 'We can't trust the Hestia Familia to protect Bell and we can't too much rely on Hephaestus for help.' she then placed her hands on her waist. "we need a plan to ensure that Bell will always be safe whether or not we are around."
The Kaisers looked at one another before they all focused on Zagreus who has a hand raised and his chin cupped in between his thumb and index finger.
"Ploutos, you remember that blue haired woman from the Ganesha Familia" Zagreus said as he glanced towards the Iron God Kaiser. "that Shakti Varma named one, right?"
"Yeah, I remember her." Ploutos said while placing his hands on his waist and raising an eyebrow. "what about her?"
"I want you and Makaria to temporarily take command of the Ganesha Familia for two weeks on the next day.
