In the JLF hidden base of the Narita Mountain.
Days have passed as Kira continued his stay with the resistance group. The young man currently in the underground hangar where he along with Tohdoh, and the JLF's engineers are watching a customized and upgraded Burai Kai wielding a sword that has flames ignited around the blades which spins like a chainsaw.
"Revolving Blade Sword's speed stable and adjustments are complete." Kira said as he is working and checking on the Burai Kai and the weapon that it wields. The young man is working on the adjustments as the object was an experimental work that has not been completed therefore he has to work on it. "Asahina-san, please try it out for a few swings."
"roger." Asahina who is piloting the Burai Kai, replied as he moves a lever forward and this made the Burai Kai wield the Revolving Blade Sword with two hands before proceeding to do an upward swing before following it up with a downward one. The Knightmare then did several more swings as the movements were recorded and analyzed by Kira's PC that is showing all the data in 3D models.
"How is it?" Tohdoh asks Kira whose eyes were glued to the PC's screen and his fingers typing the keyboard as fast as he could. "Is it possible to complete the Revolving Blade Sword here?"
"yes. Or rather…" Kira types in more data into the PC which gets transferred into the Burai Kai's systems. The Knightmare doing several swings with the Revolving Blade Sword as it proceeded to do several combination of smooth maneuvers in matter of seconds. "I've completed it already."
The nearby engineer looks amazed as the Burai Kai did several swings of its sword before it proceeds to deactivate it while sheathing the weapon away in a traditional Japanese manner.
"It took our financer's producer about 5 months to create and program these Revolving Blade Swords and yet you finished them in mere seconds." Tohdoh said as he watches Asahina comes out of the Burai Kai's cockpit before turning to look at Kira who is still managing the data on the PC. "as expected, your technological expertise are to be feared."
"You're overestimating my abilities, Tohdoh-san." Kira said as his eyes looks at the data and the 3D relay of the Burai Kai's movement with the Revolving Blade Sword that he finished adjusting. "I'm just good with computers. That's all."
"even if you say that, you're being modest." Tohdoh stated after chuckling with a small smile. "our best engineers took weeks to completely tune the Burais for us and yet you finished in just half the time." He went and patted Kira's shoulder. "take pride in your abilities for they are what makes who you really are."
Kira looks at Tohdoh for a moment before he looks back to the PC and sighs with a smile.
"I guess so." Kira nodded before he looks at Asahina who came near. "Were there any dissatisfaction with the controls?"
"not at all." Asahina said with a smile. "The very simplicity of its movements is so fluid, it made me rethink if I was in a machine or I was one with a machine." He crosses his arms. "all in all, it's a great machine that has been fully upgraded to our needs."
"I see." Kira nodded with a smile before he looks back at the PC. "Then I shall do further adjustments with the other machines in due time."
"Yes, and in due time. I believe that it is time for a break." Tohdoh said before he checks his wristwatch. "It's almost lunch time." He then smiles to Kira. "Let's go and fill our stomachs first, then we'll see what we can do with the new Burai Kai."
"Sounds like a good plan to me." Asahina said after nodding. "Let's go and see what the kitchen staff has cooked up."
"But this will just take a second and…" Kira spoke but was quickly pulled away from the PC by Tohdoh and Asahina. "j-just a minute or two!"
"no, and we know that you'll forget to get lunch if we let you." Tohdoh stated while Asahina nodded, the two learned one thing about Kira and he can become quite immersed with the PC if left unattended.
Sometime later, Kira is found to be eating lunch together with Tohdoh and Asahina at a meal room where there's other JLF members eating as well. The young man having a traditional Japanese meal of teriyaki chicken, rice, miso soup, takuan, and green tea.
"Itaddakimasu." Kira gave a prayer of gratitude before he picks up his chopsticks and begins eating. He chewed on some rice with a piece of the teriyaki chicken and smiles when he tasted the delicious salty yet tad sweet flavor. "delicious."
"This Teriyaki. I think it's Chiba who made it." Asahina said with a smile before he took a quick glance at the kitchen area where he finds one of his comrades doing some cooking with other members. "looks like she polished her skills even further."
"Having such skills is beneficial once we've liberated Japan." Tohdoh stated before he took a sip of the miso soup and sighs. "when that time comes, it'd be best to lay down our swords and choose new paths to take."
"That's true." Kira said as he continued to eat while having small talk with Tohdoh and Asahina.
This is how it goes for the past few days during lunch time, Kira would always have lunch and dinner with either Tohdoh or any of the available Four Holy Swords member who would watch over him as he works on the JLF's electronic devices and Knightmares. Yet even though it is quite the peaceful time for him, there's also some times where he receives hardships as well.
"you want to install seatbelts to all the Burai we have?" Tohdoh asks Kira who nodded.
"I find it odd that Knightmares don't have seatbelts and pilots don't wear helmets." Kira replied. "wouldn't it be safer for the pilot to have helmets and seatbelts when the machine goes into high speed which results in pressure being placed upon the body?"
"well that's true, but all of Britannia and other nations minus the middle east; all have no seatbelts and no pilot wears any helmet." Asahina said while adjusting his glasses. "I guess they all thought of the pilots to just brace themselves when they would launch out with their Knightmares instead and keep their head steady."
"though, the thought of helmets and seatbelts in Knightmares would be beneficial for the pilot's safety." Tohdoh said as he thought about it before looking at Kira. "think it's easy to put them in?"
"just following some fine instructions would help make it a quick work." Kira replied. "I've already begun making designs for further improvements."
"if that's the case, how about the Raiko as well?" Asahina spoke out.
"Asahina." Tohdoh called out to his subordinate with a stern voice which made the glasses man look a bit apologetic.
"Raiko?" Kira muttered while looking confused to Tohdoh. "What's that?"
Tohdoh looks at Kira for a moment before he sighs while quickly rubbing two fingers to the bridge of his nose and then looks at the young man.
"the Raiko is the JLF's first ever created Coilgun weapon." Tohdoh stated as he explained the Raiko to Kira. "Built by combining four Glasgows or Burai units. It fires a type of canister shot: a high-velocity shell which releases two-dozen steel ball bearings that can tear through Knightmare Frames, as well as most other targets with ease."
"in simpler manner, it's a massive cannon." Asahina added in. "one shot and many enemy forces won't come out unscathed."
"I see…" Kira nodded in understanding before looking confused. "is this Raiko still being developed in the hangar? Or perhaps it is at Kyoto with the JLF's financer?"
"no, it's in the JLF." Tohdoh replied. "it's just…"
"It's just?" Kira spoke out.
"it's just something no Hāfu like you should even know about!" a loud voice is heard nearby as Kira and the others turned to look at another dining table where other JLF Members gathered around but the one who spoke is another Lieutenant Colonel ranked soldier like Tohdoh named Kusakabe Josui. "the mere thought of a half brat like you touching the Raiko just disgusts me!"
"Kusakabe! That is enough!" Tohdoh spoke out in a stern voice. "as much as your ideals is shared by many in the JLF, that is not the way to treat the young man who has been helping us in every step of the way to a future where Japan is liberated!"
"hmph! You think I want to be treating that brat like a real Japanese!?" Kusakabe exclaimed as he got off his seat and points a finger at Tohdoh. "you and your Four Holy Swords along with Gen. Katase may approve him but I and the rest of the JLF won't ever approve of him!" he then swung a hand to the side. "so what if he is good at fixing our electronic equipment and improving our Knightmares!? That's all he is good at!" he then points a finger at Kira. "with such skills, there's no telling if this brat is just some Britannian Lap dog who got promised with the Honorary Britannian title! He might be a spy waiting for the right moment to give out our base's location to those scums!"
"Enough!" a loud voice is heard shouting as everyone in the room turns towards the entrance where the JLF leader, Gen. Katase made an appearance. "This hall is for us to have a proper meal in order to be well fed and be strong! It is not a place for such debates!"
"Gen. Katase!?" Kusakabe looks surprised as he along with many other JLF members quickly stood up and saluted to their highly ranked leader. "apologies for the disturbance!"
"Josui, I find it very intolerable for you and the rest of our members to have such a stance to the young man." Gen. Katase spoke out as he took a few steps forward and then turned to face the Lieutenant Colonel while having a stern face. "it may be true that he is only half Japanese, but it doesn't give you the rights to discriminate him!" his stern face grew even more. "as of now, he is helping out effort with no questions whatsoever! This young man is without a doubt a great support for the JLF's future! Learn your boundaries, Josui!"
"but General Katase! He isn't even a true Japanese! Tohdoh found him in the forest and he might still be a spy!" Kusakabe retorted. "we can't fully trust him and!"
"you can't always accuse of someone to be a spy." Asahina spoke out in interjecting the conversation. The man adjusting his glasses. "Tohdoh-san along with I and the other Four Holy Swords are always watching over Kira at all times. we all see him just working for us and doing nothing else." He crossed his arms. "Sure, he reads books about every current situation in the world, but he doesn't do anything that is considered the works of an enemy spy."
"so unless you can give us all proof that he is an enemy spy, hold your accusations until the needed time and do not try to discriminate the young man again." Gen. Katase stated as he folded his arms behind his back and glares down on Kusakabe. "understood?"
Kusakabe looks frustrated for a moment before he saluted to Katase.
"understood…sir." Kusakabe said as Katase nodded before he turns and begins walking to the exit.
"as you all were!" Katase exclaimed as he left and allowed the tension of the room to leave with him.
As the General left, Kusakabe glares with irritation at Kira and the others before he clicks his tongue and turns to leave with his entourage.
"don't let him get to you." Asahina told Kira. "he and the others are just jealous of your skills and everything."
"It's alright." Kira said with a small smile. "I'm used to this."
"Don't bottle that feeling up in you." Tohdoh stated as he looks at Kira. "at times, it's alright to let it all out so that it won't affect your mind and soul." He then sighs. "Kusakabe and the others will turn around in their ideals one day. So let's just be strong and hope for that day to come."
"yes…I know." Kira nodded before seeing Chiba coming by while carrying a plate of Sakura Mochi.
"seems that these desserts arrival were a bit hindered because of Kusakabe." Chiba said as she set the plate to their table. "here you go."
"Sakura Mochi? How rare of you to make these…." Asahina said as he looked at the dish before to his female comrade. "What's the occasion?"
"The occasion is for welcoming young Kira here into the JLF." Chiba replied with a smile while presenting one Sakura Mochi for Kira. "it's a tad late but think of this as your welcoming meal to our forces."
"Thank you, Nagisa-san. But this is just…" Kira spoke out as he looks at the presented dish.
"I know that you feel that you shouldn't have our sympathies or anything, but guess what? you're a kind and smart young man." Chiba said while giving the rest of the Sakura Mochi to Tohdoh and Asahina. "you've helped our cause and therefore mean that you are a friend to us. That is all there is to it."
Kira looks at Chiba for a moment before to the others who nodded with smiles on their faces.
Smiling back, Kira nodded in gratitude before holding up the Sakura Mochi and taking a bite.
"It's good." Kira said after tasting the dessert.
Though Kira's life in the JLF may seem harsh at times, knowing that he has good people as his friends is all he needed to keep on going in the current world.
Meanwhile at the Tokyo Settlement, by a cross road stop sign. There's Cagalli who is standing by the safety line as she with other passerby are waiting for the traffic light to change from red to green.
Cagalli is found to be wearing new attire as she had exchanged the clothes she salvaged from the Ghetto with a yellow shirt and long blue jeans, with the addition of a greenish yellow denim jacket and boots. The blonde is also wearing a digital wrist watch on her left arm and a small purse bag that she is holding with the bag of groceries and pizza box she is carrying with her.
Cagalli looks at the traffic light as it turns from red to green which allowed her and the bystanders to begin walking across the road. The blonde followed along with the crowd as she made a quick turn down the road and straight for the apartment complex near it.
Taking the elevator to the 5th floor, Cagalli went straight for room 505 that she entered after swiping the key card.
Inside is a two beds room with shower, closet, fridge, and small kitchen.
"I'm back, Athrun." Cagalli called out as she went and placed all of her baggage to the kitchen then begins to set them out on the nearby table one by one. "I've got all the groceries and the supplies you needed."
"thanks, Cagalli." Athrun's voice replied as he is found to be sitting by the TV which he had rigged up to become a PC screen for a DIY made computer with various parts. The navy haired teen is wearing a plain white shirt and sports jeans, and is currently working on some data that he is watching on the screen of the tv as there's information regarding the settlement's map area to its nearby settled military base. "I'm almost done with our entire biography data."
"have you settled on what we need?" Cagalli asks as she sets all the food into the fridge then came to Athrun while holding two bottles of soda and the pizza box. "did you make sure to give us fool proof IDs that will work better than the last one?"
"I know and this time I got better equipment to make the IDs." Athrun said as he types his fingers on a keyboard very fast while his eyes looks at a screen showing biography data that has photos of him and Cagalli. "just give me a minute to make this and…"
After travelling from the Ghetto and arriving to the settlement, Athrun and Cagalli had managed to enter after making forged IDs that they made with the help of the DIY scratch built hacking phone that they used when infiltrating the Britannia guards at the border gates. It took a while as they managed to get themselves entry into the settlement along with not raising any suspicions whatsoever.
Athrun and Cagalli have spent the last few days getting some money that they pick pocketed from some Britannian thugs and such as they collected enough to spend a few nights at their current inn.
Right now, Athrun is settling their forged IDs along with their background and finances as he is hacking into the entire Britannia network.
A data upload appears on the large screen as Athrun is directly inputting more data into it while Cagalli was eating a slice of pepperoni pizza in the background.
Reaching from 98% to 99% and finally 100%, the data upload was completed as Athrun then went to the hard drive board to eject two flash drives as one of them is given to Cagalli.
"my name will be Alex Dino and your name will be Sunny Fleur." Athrun said as Cagalli takes the flash drive which contains all their forged personal data and background information. "I'll get more of our IDs done later but this will do for now."
"Sunny Fleur, huh?" Cagalli spoke as she looks at the flash drive and then looks at Athrun a bit annoyed. "Why couldn't I just go with the name Roberta Robbs or Olivia Chanders like I suggested before? Why pick this girlish name?"
"There's not much of a choice considering those names are the names of existing people." Athrun said after sighing as he went and pressed a key on the keyboard which soon shows data information of two certain female individuals recorded in the Britannia residential system. "see?"
"Are you for real?" Cagalli asks a bit surprised to see that two of her made up names are real people names.
"anyway, there's also these for you and me to use." Athrun said as he went to a card port that ejected two debit bank cards which he holds up for Cagalli to see. "I've inserted our ID data into the bank but it's invisible to their systems and we can use as much money as we need." He then gave one of them to the blonde. "remember, don't use it for unnecessary thing. Just use it when you really need it, okay?"
"I know." Cagalli said as she takes the card before going to the kitchen to come back with a red and yellow wallet. "here, a wallet like you asked." She threw the red one to Athrun who catches it. "I also got your photo printed and a blank ID card from a forger so it'll be easier for you to make more of our forged IDs on it."
"thanks." Athrun checks the inside of the wallet as he finds the photo of him and a blank ID card. He then looks at Cagalli. "you weren't watched weirdly by anyone, right?"
"nope." Cagalli said as she inserts her bank card into her wallet and then goes for another slice of Pizza that she munches on. "though, rather than being watched weirdly. Everyone in the town was giving bad vibes with the Elevens who are around."
"Eleven?" Athrun asks while in the middle of opening his soda bottle's cap. "What's that?"
"It's the term that the Britannian named for the former people of Japan." Cagalli said as she sits down and munches on her pizza while having a very annoyed look. "it sickens me that the Britannians named the Japanese people as Eleven in according with how they changed the name of Japan as Area 11." She finishes her pizza and let out an annoyed noise. "Isn't that fantastic?! These guys believe that the whole world belongs to them and think that their superior just because their born Britannian!"
"I see…" Athrun said before taking a few gulps of his soda before he continues; "I wonder if they still kept their superiority belief once they learn about Coordinators."
"Doubt it. They'll freak out more than the Blue Cosmos." Cagalli replied before getting another pizza.
They had spent time making their forged identities, but they also spent time collecting all kinds of information of the place that they are currently inhabiting. The Britannian's history, their military prowess, and all manner of information that may prove vital for them.
"hey, should we try making a signal for us to like get with the others who may be in the same situation as us?" Cagalli asks Athrun who made a noise while in the middle of chewing a piece of pizza. "I mean like what we did with the Strike Rouge's communication system. Can we somehow broadcast another signal at another place?"
"We shouldn't do it." Athrun said after shaking his head before he looks at the PC's screen. "first is because The Britannian system monitors all types of signals that are foreign in their network. The Strike Rouge's signal channel is very foreign and advanced therefore they won't pick it up." He then went and pressed the enter button which made the screen show various data of the military camp located in the settlement. "if we made another signal using the less developed technology of theirs, they might pick it up and be on to us before we know it."
"so that means we can only send another signal if we are using the same tech, right?" Cagalli asks and Athrun nodded.
"Though it is our main option, we actually have another one." Athrun said before he looks and begins to press a few keys on the board that soon made a schematic of a signal wave that is pulsing on a set time. "I made a signal broadcaster that pulses a hidden signal every 10 second. It'll be visible to any radar but it's encrypted and can only be decoded using specific means."
"so the signal will be like what? Jibberish to anyone who doesn't know how to decode it?" Cagalli asks and Athrun nodded.
"I have to change its code every now and then to ensure that no one of Britannia can decode it, but…" Athrun spoke before he looks at Cagalli with a smile. "If anyone can decode this signal quickly and give us a reply, it means that we really are not alone."
Cagalli nodded as she looks optimist of the idea.
As the two were conversing, they heard glass tapping noises from the window which caught their attention.
"what was that?" Cagalli said while Athrun went and checked.
Athrun goes and pulled the curtains to the side then made a surprised noise to see Tori perching outside and trying to get in my knocking on the glass with its metal beak.
"Tori?" Athrun opened the window's lock and pulled it open before holding out his right hand for Tori to jump and perch on a finger. "where have you been?"
"Tori~!" Tori let out a cry before the little mechanical bird went and flew to Cagalli's shoulder.
"you little rascal, I wondered where'd you've been gone to ever since we entered the settlement." Cagalli said as Tori let out a cry before twisting its head side to side.
"I guess he was just going around to look at the new environment and all." Athrun said while closing the window and sees Tori flying around in the room before the mechanical bird flew and perched onto his right shoulder. "He's always been the free spirited type."
"didn't you make him that way?" Cagalli asks while picking up another pizza slice. "Kira told me that you made Tori and gave it to him, right?"
"I did, but I didn't make him this free spirited." Athrun said as he gently caresses Tori's head with a finger before the bird flew once again.
An hour later. After having pizza and soda for lunch, Cagalli went inside the bathroom to take a shower while Athrun is working on some of the Britannian Phones that he got for the two of them to use. A few were made as spares but he's working on them all at once.
Taking out the chips and then soldering in some cables here and there, the navy haired Coordinator tinkers with the phones one by one.
"hey, Athrun! Turn on the tv for the news, will ya?" Cagalli called out to the man in the bathroom. "When I was going out shopping, I heard news of this Britannia settlement's viceroy is planning to do something."
"this settlement's viceroy?" Athrun spoke before he went and picks up the tv remote which has a button he pressed to make it change from being a computer screen, into a normal tv screen that has a news channel being broadcasted live.
"we are now live with an announcement from Viceroy Clovis who has an announcement for all residents of Tokyo settlement." The news reporter spoke out before showing a podium and a blonde man wearing medieval noble like outfit and is getting flashes of cameras.
"greetings to all settlement of Tokyo. A good day to you all and a great blessing upon you." The Viceroy spoke out as he begins his announcement regarding terrorist attacks. "as of today, I had just heard regarding the incident upon the Tokyo settlement at the residential zone and…"
Athrun watched the news while Cagalli came out of the bathroom as she wore a white oversized shirt and blue shorts with the white towel around her neck.
"another news about terrorist attack, huh?" Cagalli said while drying her hair with the towel and standing near Athrun to get a better look at the news that shows photos of Britannian Militaries going around subduing Japanese or Eleven who are terrorists and resistance against their oppressors.
"no matter where we go, war will always be there." Athrun spoke before he sighs softly. "it's all the same back in our world."
"yeah, but I think this one is worse." Cagalli said as she pulls the towel off her neck and left it dangling in her grasp. "oppression? Slavery! This is far worse than what was going back in our world!" she swung a hand up and then to the side while turning to look at Athrun. "sure there's no war in space and all, but this is way worse! This level of oppression is something only medieval Europeans would do in the 1700s or so!"
"1400 to 1500, but I get your point." Athrun stated as he watched the news. "this level of oppression and misuse of military power shows that the Britannian are colonists, invaders, and even more." He then picks up the remote and then presses the off button to turn the TV screen black. "right now, there's still oppressing all the other countries till their empire rules the earth."
"not if we got anything to say about it!" Cagalli said while punching a fist into an open palm. "I'll get on my Strike Rouge and pummel them all down!"
"easy, Cagalli." Athrun said as he turns to look at the blonde. "as much as I support such notion to stop the Britannians, we can't let our emotions get the better of us." He then went and picks up the phones he had finished tinkering with. "right now, our main objective is to collect information and possibly find any of our comrades in our current whereabouts." He turns and gives one of the phones to Cagalli. "so until the time is right, we still need to lay low. Understand?"
Cagalli looks a bit frustrated for a moment before she nodded and takes the phone.
"I got it." Cagalli said.
"good." Athrun nodded before he checks the time and sees that it's already 15:23. "we better get going." He went and picks up a black jacket and blue jeans that are on one of the beds then turns to look at Cagalli. "we're going meet with that weapons broker in 20 more minutes. Let's go before the guy decided that we're not good customers and all."
"got it." Cagalli said before she went back into the bathroom after picking up some clothes for her to use.
In another part of the Tokyo Settlement. It's a busier area of the Britannian Settlement as this area has more citizens than any other settlement in the nearest distance.
Currently at a local clothing store, Yzak and Shiho are found exiting the door that has a ringing doorbell attachment. Both getting goodbyes by the storeowner as they had just bought boxes filled with student clothing.
"That's the last one." Yzak said as he sighs tiredly while taking off a backpack he is wearing and getting the box inserted inside of it. Shiho does the same with hers but her backpack is more of a gym bag.
"all that is left are the transfer papers to Ashford Academy." Shiho said and Yzak nodded.
The two then begins walking down the road as they have intruded and blended into the society after infiltrating the system in making them a part of the residential list.
After getting in, they had taken refuge at a hotel with some funds that they obtained via hacking into several bank's digital funds. They managed to not draw any suspicions from any of the residents as they just did everything good with their spy infiltration mission.
Some time later, at a hotel. Yzak and Shiho entered the room as both had made the room a temporary headquarter that is filled with many items from the newest PC available to the newest phones too. They also had some food and water supplies that they bought in order for there to be not many needs to leave the place too many times.
"Our transfer papers should be done by the day with the help of that contact we've got in the black market." Yzak said as he went to a couch where he drops his bag then begins to rummage a nearby sack bag that he had dozens of clothing inside before he looks at Shiho who is settling all her belongings neatly to a bed. "Hey, Shiho. Did you already managed our fake ID data to our Phones and also gave the number to our contact as well?"
"yes, I have." Shiho nodded before she pointed to the table by the TV which has several types of Phones prepared. "I've put them there."
Yzak went and picks one as he then takes out a SIM card from his pocket and inserted into the SIM slot of the Phone. He turned the device on and started to check several of its applications.
"phone calls, live news receiver, several basic phone functions, and…" Yzak mumbled in checking the phone's functions while Shiho is in the middle of settling all their school outfits, and necessities to another table.
"I believe this is everything." Shiho said before she turns to see Yzak coming while checking on a phone in his left hand while holding another in his right hand which he soon gives to her. "thank you."
"make sure to use a one time phone call for each unknown number our contact would use." Yzak said. "the guy is willing to help us as long as we pay him, but he has his rules that we have to follow."
"yes, I understand." Shiho nodded before checking her phone for a moment and then looks at Yzak. "How is the transaction for the rented warehouse, Yzak-san?"
"still undergoing the whole transaction check up." Yzak said as he is walking around and then sat down on a chair so that he could get a better read on a contact of his that is selling him a warehouse for them to use. "this guy is all good in providing what we need, but all sketchy with the money needed."
"perhaps we should try to find a new contact instead?" Shiho asks.
"no, it's better if we stick with this one." Yzak said as he is typing a message on his phone. "as much as this guy got some sick greed with him, he sticks with his word and always give what his clients want." He pressed the send button and delivers the message to the contact. "what we got to do is just give him what we wants before thinking otherwise."
"if that is what you insists." Shiho said after sighing before she went and picks up the tv remote then sits down. "I'll be using the TV."
"do what you want." Yzak said while occupied with his phone.
Shiho presses the ON button and the TV screen lit up to show a live news broadcast of an ongoing terrorist attack at the Nagasaki Ghetto where Britannian forces have been deployed to subdue and kill the terrorists who are all Japanese.
"Breaking News! The Nagasaki's infamous Sword of Amaterasu terrorist group are currently being apprehended as their leader; Shirosaki Kujo has been captured by Britannian Forces!" the news anchor reported as Shiho and Yzak looks and sees the live recording of Britannian Forces firing their weapons at fleeing terrorists. "currently, the members of the terrorist group are being apprehended as we speak and with time they will be neutralized…"
"this is terrible." Shiho said as she watched the news. "do the Britannians think that they are in the right to do such things? Considering that they were the ones who invaded Japan and believed that the terrorists are merely terrorists?"
"mere fools." Yzak stated before he begins to recheck his phone's applications.
Time passes, we turn our attention back to the JLF as Kira is found walking in the hallway with Urabe. The young man and the Holy Sword Member carrying boxes filled with broken electronic equipment.
"another day, another shipment of broken electronics that you got to fix." Urabe said with a small smile to Kira who sighs a bit tiredly as he looks in the boxes' content to see how broken the electronics are.
"just when I asked you all to use them nicely and everything." Kira sighs tiredly as he had quite enough of fixing broken electronic devices.
As the two chatted while going straight for the room designated as Kira's workshop, the two encountered Chiba and Asahina who came straight for the two.
"Kira, good. We've found you with Urabe." Chiba said as the two stopped Kira and Urabe in their tracks.
"what's wrong?" Kira asks, confused. "is there something broken again?"
"no, it's different." Asahina said after shaking his head. "we need you two to drop whatever stuff you are doing and come with us to meet with Gen. Katase."
"Something going on?" Urabe asks before he looks a bit serious. "did the Britannians come and found us?!"
"no, it's a bit of an inner problem than an outside one." Chiba said. "you'll understand once you get to the meeting room."
Kira and Urabe looks confused as they glanced at one another and then back at Chiba and Asahina.
In the JLF's Meeting room, Gen. Katase is having a meeting with Tohdoh and Kusakabe along with a number of the JLF members.
The atmosphere of the meeting is tense as it seems to be conflicted between Tohdoh and Kusakabe who sat facing one another while Gen. Katase sat in the middle, seemingly to be the referee of some sort
As this silent but tense meeting occurs, Senba Ryoga; another member of the Four Holy Swords is found to be watching the confrontation from the sidelines and just a few feet from Tohdoh's position. The old man looks upon the scene before he made a noise and turns to look to the nearby doorway that slides open for Chiba to come in first before being followed by Kira and the others.
"good, you have come." Gen. Katase spoke out as everyone turns to see Kira and others. "come and sit down."
"What's going on?" Kira asks as he came and sat down near Tohdoh as Chiba and the others followed suit with Senba joining too. "is there a problem in the base?"
"no, it's not that." Tohdoh stated with a glance a Kira. "it's just.."
"enough with the stalling, Tohdoh!" Kusakabe exclaimed as he sat in a bit of a thuggish way while staring at his fellow ranked officer. "get on with it and end this!"
Tohdoh looks at Kusakabe for a moment before he closed his eyes and sighed then looks at Kira.
"there's been some….dissatisfaction with the Burai units that you've upgraded and customized." Tohdoh stated in explanation. He then waved out a hand to Gen. Katase and then to Chiba and the others before to himself. "most or perhaps all other members of the JLF besides Gen. Katase along with myself and the others have those dissatisfaction."
"What are they dissatisfied about?" Kira asks confused while blinking his eyes twice. "I've already upgraded their operating systems, boosted their performances, and…"
"you think just because you've "Upgraded" the Burais, do you think it means that it is something to be impressed about!?" Kusakabe exclaimed before scoffing. "like hell you could do all of that! You little Hāfu!"
"Kusakabe! Hold your tongue!" Gen. Katase exclaimed with a glare at his subordinate. "this meeting is to discuss about the Burai units! Not your personal view on others!"
"Personal view!? This is the entire JLF's views, Gen. Katase!" Kusakabe retorted while swinging a hand to the side before pointing a finger at Kira. "you all trust this Hāfu with many of our electronic equipment! Trusting him with our own weaponry as well! Don't you see how this just reflects on the possibility of him being a spy using this whole innocent individual as a cover up!?"
"You say that he got this spy thing as a cover up, even though we've always been watching over him?" Urabe asks while crossing his arms on his chest.
"not only us but the surveillance team should be able to have an eye on our young friend to prove that he is not a spy?" Chiba added in.
"I had believed that we already went over with this whole spy gig?" Asahina spoke out as he gave a raised eyebrow of a look at Kusakabe before he smirks a bit. "or are you going to stick with it till you are proven right?"
"why you little!" Kusakabe looks furious at Asahina before Gen. Katase did one loud cough to get everyone to be quiet.
"That is far enough from both sides!" Gen. Katase exclaimed before he looks at each side one by one. "Personal views or group views or anyone's views doesn't matter." He then crosses his arms and closed his eyes. "The main point is that our young recruit has done nothing wrong and that Kusakabe and the rest should learn to accept the fact that we need his help."
"like hell do we really need his help!" Kusakabe exclaimed. "we Japanese have done everything in our power to go against the Britannians! We worked hard and spilled lots of blood, sweat, and tears to get our Burais and also create the Raiko!" he then points a finger at Kira again. "we will never accept the likes of a Hāfu into our ranks!"
Hearing this, Tohdoh merely sighed once with his eyes closed before he turns to face Gen. Katase.
"This is going nowhere, General." Tohdoh stated and Katase nodded.
"it appears that we have to end this in the old fashion way." Gen. Katase spoke before he turns to look at Kusakabe. "if you are still against having the young man in our base, do propose a way to end this scuffle. We are at war and we have not much time to be used for such banter."
"if that's what you want, then fine." Kusakabe said before he looks at Kira and points a finger at him while standing up. "if you wish for me to be silent, then prove your worth!"
"How?" Kira asks.
"by a duel." Kusakabe said with a small grin. "You against someone of our side. You will pilot your upgraded Burai Kai while our side pilots the Burai Units that we've worked hard to perfect." His grin then turns into a smirk. "we do need to test it out for combat, right? After all, what's the use of such a weapon if it becomes one death trap instead."
Hearing this proposal, JLF members with Kusakabe let out their agreeing voices while Gen. Katase along with Tohdoh and the others didn't look pleased.
"He's going this far just discredit the kid?" Urabe said and Senba nodded.
"His arrogance will be his own downfall." Asahina said while adjusting his glasses.
"or his victory." Chiba stated with a glance to his glasses wearing comrade. "sure that our young friend is a master in electronics and such, but what about piloting a Knightmare?" she then looks at Kira who faces Kusakabe who is letting out mockery lines at him. "I'm worried that he might not be able to face whoever he is going to face in this duel."
"I see…" Asahina said with a nod.
"so!? What's it going to be!?" Kusakabe exclaimed. "are you going to accept the duel or are you too afraid, you Hāfu!?"
"Kusakabe! This has gone enough! Tohdoh exclaimed. "I've been patient with you ever since the day I found the young Kira and you've only been…" as he was making a retaliation against Kusakabe, Kira stood up and faced the other Lieutenant General with a composed face. "wha?"
"Very well." Kira said. "I'll accept this duel."
Hearing his reply made everyone surprised, even Kusakabe himself was surprised by Kira's response.
"hey, hey. Is he for real?" Urabe asks looking surprised at Kira.
"either he is certain of his victory or is just foolish." Senba added in.
"Kira, are you certain that you wish to do this?" Asahina asks in a surprised tone. "I know that you are a technological expert and all, but this is…"
"I understand, Asahina-san." Kira said with a smile. "but don't worry, riding a Knightmare is much more easier than a Mobile Suit."
"a Mobile…Suit?" Asahina spoke confused while Kira turns and faced Kusakabe.
"where shall we take this Duel to?" Kira asks. "and also, could I fight against six pilots instead of one?"
"you're rather confident when speaking of that, aren't you?" Kusakabe said before scoffing. "if you have a death wish, then have at it!"
"You should stop him, Tohdoh-san." Chiba spoke out to Tohdoh. "he's going to get himself in a world of hurt, or worse. He's going to get himself killed!"
"I know, but I'm going to let things go through as it is." Tohdoh said while crossing his arms. "let Kira duel against our base's best pilots."
"you can't be serious, Tohdoh-san!" Asahina exclaimed before he looks at Gen. Katase. "you should stop this madness, General! One against six is just crazy!"
"indeed." Katase nodded before he looks at Tohdoh. "however, seeing how Tohdoh has no worry whatsoever makes me believe that the young lad will be alright." He then crossed his arms on his chest and closed his eyes. "I have no claims to stop this duel at all."
"will this be really alright?" Urabe asks Tohdoh. "this is a literal six against one match and I don't think the others will be going easy on Kira."
"he'll be fine." Tohdoh said as he looks back at Kira who is facing Kusakabe and discussing with him about the rules of the duel. 'now I will be able to see it. The prowess that lies dormant in this young man. The possible skills that he has in him on the day I found him."
Sometime later, and somewhere upon the Narita Mountain. At a spacious training area, Gen. Katase along with Tohdoh and Kusakabe sat upon a stage and looks upon a barren dirt field as they and almost all JLF members watched as seven Burai units come entering. One coming from the right side and six on the left side.
The duel has begun as Kira is piloting the single Burai Kai and facing the six Burai units. The young man in the back cockpit as he wore his EFSF pilot suit on with the helmet while having x crossed seatbelts strapped around him.
"Energy Filler at limited default power, Yggdrasil Driver engaged." Kira spoke out as he is checking the Knightmare's systems one by one. "Landspinner Propulsion System has no error in system, no errors in the Cockpit Ejection System, Factsphere Sensor are online. Weapon systems online and on standby."
"all your weapons are on safety mode and your ammo are all paintballs, alright?" Asahina's voice is heard from the communication's line as he along with Urabe are somewhat Kira's support team for the duel. "they won't destroy your unit but they can cause some big damage to the frame along with you as well."
"yes, I understand." Kira nodded.
"you sure about this?" Urabe asks. "Not to brag or anything but six of those pilots are some of our best that we Four Holy Swords had personally trained. You really think you can win against them?"
"yes, I can." Kira replied as his Burai Kai deployed its Factsphere Sensor for a second before it got into a stance while readying its Assault Rifle. "do not worry."
As Kira's unit got ready, so did his enemy sparring partners that were all aiming their Burais' Assault Rifles at him.
"this will be the day he rue his own life for being so smug." Kusakabe said with a grin while Tohdoh remained silent and watched the field.
Gen. Katase looks at the field and the two sides before he raises his right hand up.
"get ready!" Katase exclaimed before he swung down his hand. "BEGIN!"
In an instant, the six Burai units started firing their Assault Rifles as rains of paintball bullets came flying straight for Kira's Burai Kai.
"let's go." Kira said before his Burai Kai's two eyes flash green and the Knightmare deployed its Landspinner that has its wheels rapidly spin.
Wheeling out dust, Kira's Burai Kai zooms around and dodged the rains of paintballs coming at him in a zig zag then swirl formation.
"It's fast!" one pilot of the Burais exclaimed as the other units tried to shoot down Kira's unit that zooms around so fast and dodged it all. "How is it doing that!?"
"impressive." Gen. Katase spoke out while caressing his chin. "I've heard that he upgraded its speed, but seeing it first hand…"
"indeed." Tohdoh nodded with a smile as he watched Kira's Burai Kai doing zig zags and now running around the six Burai Units. "very impressive, indeed."
Other JLF members watched this from wherever they are as they are all impressed with how the Burai Kai performed. However, Kusakabe was the only one not impressed.
"damn Hāfu!" Kusakabe growls before he swung out a hand. "what are you all doing!? Perform the Six Flying Fox formation! Take that Hāfu down!"
"yes!" the six Burais' pilots responded as they all spread out.
Kira watches the Burai units formation as he sees that two proceeded to come straight at him while deploying their Wrist-Mounted Quad before proceeding to deliver swinging punches at the Burai Kai that quickly dodged by sliding down from their attacks.
Just as Kira thought he was in the clear, three more Burai units appeared and rushed in before firing their Slash Harkens that all flies straight for the Burai Kai that quickly did a quick jump into the air to dodge the incoming wired projectiles.
"he's done!" Kusakabe exclaimed with a big grin as this is because Kira's Burai Kai is in the air and is targeted by the last Burai Unit that is preparing to snipe it down. "shoot him!"
The Burai Unit readied its Assault Rifle before firing several shots at the Burai Kai.
"oh no!" Chiba gasps as she along with Senba looks shocked at the possible shot down.
Kira sees the incoming paintballs as he did a turn of a rod and then pushed a pedal forward which made the Burai Kai turn and twists its body and limbs which made the bullets pass by it.
"wha!?" Kusakabe looks surprised. "it could dodge the bullets in the air!?"
"What amazing control!" Katase said in surprise while Tohdoh smirks a bit as he watched the Burai Kai land then made a run away from the other Burai Units that were firing at it.
'seems that Kira is more talented that I had personally judged him to be.' Tohdoh thought as he sees the Burai Kai sliding and dodging any close attacks from the other Burai Units. 'however, I can tell that he is holding back for some reason. I wonder why…'
Kira gets the Burai Kai to spin to the side and made a Burai unit move pass it then gets shot with paintballs from it. The young man taking out one unit before he got his Knightmare to move around then started firing back at his foes.
"you're not bad with that!" Asahina said via the comms. "you got an experienced piloting a Knightmare before?"
"you could say that." Kira replied as the Burai Kai jumped over a Burai Unit that tried to hit it but the Glasglow Knockoff was kicked down by the young pilot's Knightmare. "though I'm more accustomed to more bigger machines."
"What's more bigger than a Knightmare?" Urabe asks out of curiosity.
The Burai Kai moves around then went to do a big jump to land behind the remaining Four Burai Units that it quickly decommissioned by firing its Assault Rifle at their back cockpits.
"That's the end!" Gen. Katase exclaimed as he raised his right hand up. "all Burai Units are taken out! It's the Burai Kai's victory!"
Some chatters are then spread amongst the JLF members as they couldn't believe that one Knightmare unit could take down six others with such ease.
"I believe that you don't have any more complaints of the Burai Kais' performances, right Kusakabe?" Gen. Katase asks Kusakabe who looks very frustrated as he gripped and tugged a part of his pants before slowly nodding his head.
The Burai Kai came near the stage as it then goes down on one knee then opens its back cockpit for Kira to make an appearance.
"Magnificent!" Chiba called out as she along with Senba, Asahina, and Urabe made an appearance as they came by. "not only its speed, but its precision, power, and everything! You've really outdone yourself in upgrading the Burai!"
"with these babies being mass produced, we'll be able to take on the Britannians once and for all!" Urabe said while looking pumped.
"we've acquired a fine weapon, indeed!" Senba added in.
"we can finally take the next step in liberating and reclaiming Japan." Asahina said with a smile as he looks at Gen. Katase who watched Kusakabe leave in frustration then turns to look at him. "looks like our decision and your decision to have Kira with us was fruitful, huh?"
"indeed." Gen. Katase nodded with a smile as he then looks at the Burai Kai. "we can finally take up arms and show the world that Japan's spirit still burns strong!"
"not yet." Tohdoh spoke out as everyone sees the man taking a few steps forward and looks at the Burai Kai from up close. "Though the Burai Kai has become a blade of Japan, it has not truly been sharpened for battle." He then looks at Kira. "are all the other Burai Kai units that you've upgraded, fitted to be the same as this one?"
"yes, they are." Kira nodded. "What of it?"
"we'll be needing more practice with it, if the Burai Kai is to become Japan's sword." Tohdoh said with a smile while everyone else looks confused at him.
10 minutes later, two Burai Kai units stood upon the field as it is now Kira against Tohdoh for some reason.
"um….Tohdoh-san, is this really necessary?" Kira asks via his Knightmare's external speakers.
"it is." Tohdoh replied as his Burai Kai proceeded to wield its Revolving Blade Sword that gets activated. "as much as the Knightmares are powerful and all, it is useless if the pilots are not accustomed to them." The Knightmare goes into a two handed stance with its weapon and faced its foe then rushes straight for it. "therefore, this spar is needed!"
"I think you have an ulterior motive for it though!?" Kira exclaimed as his Burai Kai quickly dodged Tohdoh's Knightmare units' attack then wields its own Revolving Blade Sword that clashed against the other mech.
The second spar begins as Kira and Tohdoh's Burai Kai units proceeds to rush around and continuously clash their Revolving Blade Swords repeatedly in causing fire sparks to fly around everywhere.
While this spar goes on and is watched by JLF members, Gen. Katase along with the Four Holy Swords watched and see how the battle goes from up close.
"it's been a while since I've seen Tohdoh-san going so strong in a sparring match." Asahina said with a smile as he watched Tohdoh's Burai Kai clashing its weapon's blade against Kira's Burai Kai's weapon then pushes it back then proceeds to go for another strike. "it's like he was planning on doing so after the first one."
"Perhaps he was planning on doing so in the first place." Chiba said and Senba nodded.
"Although a bit unplanned and a surprise from us, this gives us a good chance to train with the Burai Kai and get accustomed to them." Urabe stated with a smile while crossing his arms on his chest.
"indeed." Gen. Katase nodded as he watched the two Burai Kais rushed around then clashed their blades when they rushed in and went pass one another. "to refine the blade, one must clashed its mettle." The old general then smiles. "The time of Japan's return will surely come sooner than we believe."
They all watched the spar as Kira and Tohdoh's Knightmare units rushed in and clashed their blades for the umpteenth time.
