1 week later...
Slowly opening her heavy eyes Regina tried to get used to the bright lights around her. She didn't know how long she had been unconscious for but she knew by the look of things it had been long enough to be in a hospital. As her eyes began to adjust Regina could finally get a better look a the room she was in. Searching around Regina tried to find some evidence of what was going on. She was hooked up on a machine that seemed to measure her heart rate. Next to her bed, her clothes were neatly piled on a chair. She noticed a green rucksack that she knew belonged to Zelena which comforted her nervous a little. " Zelena here." Regina though as she tried to regain her strength.
Sitting up Regina was quickly met with a shock of pain which made her shriek in complete agony. Grabbing her side where the source of the pain came from Regina quickly took notice of the multiple bandages around her torso and her right arm. " What the hell happened to me?" Regina thought as she tried to piece together the past events that put her here. Her memories were a little cloudly as she tried to remember. The last thing she could remember was being back in her bar with Rumple. If she tried to remember anything after that point she was met with a brick wall.
Slowly pushing herself up Regina tried to bear the pain that was shooting through her back. Her whole body was aching and the muscles in her legs were sore. Moving her body just to sit up straight took all her energy. Taking a deep breaths Regina tried to calm herself down. She hadn't been in this amount of pain since she took Dr. Jekyll's serum and split from the evil Queen.
Hearing the door open, Regina was met with a very hysterical Zelena as she ran to her side. " OH MY GOSH, YOUR AWAKE!" Zelena said in a frenzy. Sitting on the hospital bed Zelena pulled her sister in for a hug but was quickly remained when Regina shrieked in pain. " Sorry!" Zelena said gently letting go of her sister. " I so happy you're awake." Tears began to run down Zelena's cheek uncontrollably. She couldn't contain the joy of seeing her sister wide awake and moving.
Overwhelmed Regina tried to understand her sister's hysterical behavior. She was acting like she had seen her in years. " Zelena how long was I asleep for?" Regina said hoarsely. Her throat was as dry as a desert which shocked Regina. She could just about talk let alone swallow. Everything just hurt.
" You've been asleep for a week ."
Regina's eyes grew wide with disbelief. She had been asleep for a whole week. Regina's mind was racing now as she tried to figure out what happened. " What happened.. I...I don't remember wh..what happened?" Regina stuttered.
" You don't remember?!" Zelena could tell her sister was beginning to stress out and the last thing she wanted was to send her sister's mental state off into a frenzy.
Regina wanted answers but before she could the door opened again and she was surprised who walked in.
"Samedi?" Regina whispered softly. She didn't expect to see him here but what took her back was how exhausted he looked. He looked like he hadn't slept in days and the light in his eyes looked so dull. However, his whole expression completely changed when he laid eyes on her. " REGINA!"
Just like Zelena, Baron dashed to his love's side but instead of pulling her in for a hug, Baron placed a kiss on her lips. The kiss expressed so much but it was quickly interrupted when Regina shrieked in pain. Pulling away from another sharp pain striking through her body Regina was still confused about what was going on.
" Careful Voodoo boy my sister is still in pain." Zelena scolded Samedi as he carefully let her go. Taking a look at Regina Samedi felt his worry lift from his shoulder." Thank God for your okay," Baron said as he gently helped his queen lay back into the bed.
" Can someone please explain to me how I ended up here in this hospital bed?" Regina said with confusion. Looking at the worried faces around her she was too much. She couldn't remember how she got these injuries or how she been asleep and not knowing was driving her crazy.
Samedi looked at Zelena with shock. " She really doesn't remember a thing." Which Zelena responded with a nod.
For a week Samedi had been in absolute hell. Seeing his Queen in such a state made his blood run cold and his heart to stop. He could still remember the horrific night he first saw her in the hospital, seeing his love covered in bruises and blood all over her precious body. He hadn't slept since and to be honest he didn't want to. Every night and day he waited for news of Regina waking up but as the week went on he became more worried that the damage that was done would be irreversible. At least not without magic which was limited here in this realm.
This was all his fault. He allowed the witch-killer to run riot and to do his bidding. Leading to Regina getting hurt. However, it wasn't long before he returned the favor. He wanted to make Rick pay and made sure he did. A day after Rick's arrest the young man was found dead in his cell room. He knew the police would suspicious of the sudden death but he didn't care he made sure the man suffered in the afterlife for eternally with his cruel friends on the other side. However, killing Rick didn't change the feeling that this was his fault.
When Zelena and Samedi explain what happened Regina could bring herself to speak. Processing what happened was a lot of information to take in but looking at Zelena and Samedi Regina was thankful they were both here with her. She was glad her sister didn't suffer too many injuries and was thankful she found her just in time before things got worst. However, as for Samedi, she was just happy he was here supporting her through this. It was kind of awkward since she officially ended their relationship to focus on saving her son. Although looking at how worried he was and how gently he was with her she was really glad to see his face. His voice gave her comfort and his touch was relaxing to her body. Her mind still told her to keep her distance but right now her heart needed him.
It wasn't long before Zelena left the lovebirds alone in the room together. Sitting on the bed by her feet Samedi couldn't help but stare at his love as she slept. She was still in pain and her face had some scaring but Samedi still thought she was breathtaking. She was such a strong woman and Samedi could tell she would be on the road to recovery in no time.
His relationship with Regina was over but seeing his queen in this condiction put his whole life on standstill. Regina was his everything and seeing her like this broke his dark heart to pieces. He didn't care that they were broken up he had to see her. He had to support her no matter what. For most of his life, he had been separated from her and he wasn't going to let this situation take her from him forever. Looking at her Samedi knew Regina was confused to see him there by her side but to be honest, nothing was going to keep him away without him knowing for sure she was okay. Yet here she was in front of him. Alive and well.
" You're staring Samedi," Regina grumbled to him. " If you keep staring at me like that I will have a nurse throw you out for interrupting my beauty sleep." Regina smiled to herself which in turn made Samedi smile. He should have known she was still awake but he couldn't help the guilt still riddling around his mind.
" Even exhausted you're still giving out orders," Samedi said as he took her soft hand into his. Opening her eyes Regina watched Samedi battle with something within him. She could see it in his dark brown eyes. Regina couldn't lie to herself that she missed his warm touch and holding his hand made her want to pull him closer to snuggle. However, she also knew he had made up his mind. He wanted the dagger over their relationship and Regina didn't want to be apart of the chaos that he was unleashing around town. Like she said before she needed to put her family first.
" Regina I'm so sorry...this is all my fault." Not looking at Regina Samedi's grip slightly tighten around her hand. " I'm the reason why you're in this mess."
Pulling her hand away from him Regina looked at Samedi with disbelief. " Please don't tell me Weaver was right?! You let loose the Witch-killer."
" Regina you don't I understand I was trying-" Regina however didn't want to hear it. She knew why Samedi did what he did which was why she ended their relationship in the first place. The dagger.
" Let me guess you wanted to take out Gothel's group of witches so you could be one step closer to get your hands on the dagger. Although you had no idea the killer aka Nick had my family on his hit list!" Regina said sternly. She was still was exhausted and the anger wasn't helping with her aches and pains. Not wanting to raise her voice or to deal with this right now, Regina took a deep breath. " Samedi I think you should leave."
Samedi could feel the coldness of his love's voice as she spoke. He didn't mean to hurt her or her family. He just thought he could have it all. He wanted justice for his mother and a future with Regina but life doesn't work out as you want. Not wanting to cause more pain Samedi stood up from the bed to leave. Before he left he leaned in kiss her hand but Regina was quick enough to pull back. " Leave now."
Samedi could hear the tremble in her voice now. He had hurt the one person he worked so hard to protect. Picking up his things Samedi made his way to the door but before he left Samedi turned around one last time to look at her. He could see she was fighting back tears as she didn't dare to look at him. All he wanted to do was hug her and show her how sorry he was but Regina wasn't ready to hear it and maybe never will. " Goodnight Regina," Samedi said softly. Closing the door behind him Regina let her tears finally fall.
She loved him like crazy but all that did was cause more pain in her life. Maybe Zelena and Weaver were right all along about the Shadow-Man. Sobbing into her pillow she let out as much frustration as she could until her body couldn't take it anymore. Once again she felt alone but worst of all betrayed by the man she loved.
Sorry for not updating this story sooner. I've been having a lot of issues and a serious case of writer's block. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and don't forget to comment on what you thought :-) xxx
