This is not particularly plot-driven, it's just fluff to help get my S/R mojo back, a whole lotta setup and Steph introspection (something she is not famous for) for not that many paragraphs of payoff.

I wrote this on the 12th anniversary of my own cornea transplant surgery, to honor the kind person who donated their corneas at death that I might see: I'd be functionally blind otherwise.
