Chapter 13: New Unforeseen Faces
Mortal Kombat World
In the Mortal Kombat world, things are not going well for the protectors of the realms. Realms invaded, bodies stolen. And a new unfortunate ally on Mileena's side in the Netherrealm. The Special Forces are now being contacted with these surprising events.
"A dragon?! A real fucking dragon?! How is it that one even exists in the first place?!" Flora shouted.
"We have believed that the dragons went extinct millennia ago when Onaga the Dragon King fell. Shao Kahn killed him, but not through kombat, but by poison. He knew that he could not be killed by normal means." Liu Kang said.
"There's gotta be a weakness. This ain't no movie, but how do we kill a dragon of that size?" Alex asked.
"I am afraid I do not know. This dragon, who goes by Adrelita. She claims to be his daughter locked beneath the Pyramid of Argus. Her egg must have been discovered sometime after the Battle of Armageddon." Liu Kang replied.
"Enough with the ancient enemies already, damn it. Kronika, Shinnok, Geras, Shao Kahn and Daegon and Havik. And now this. A dragon. They look cool on tv, but in real life, they sound scary of shit." Cassie said.
"But with that thing on the loose, how can we stop it if Lord Liu Kang can't? And the fact that she can control dead bodies and make zombies, just makes it worse." Anthony shivered and gets goosebumps.
"Our only chance right now is to stop dragon girl from gaining more and more dead bodies. But they're scattered everywhere. We can't be at many places at once. We gotta put Adrelita down hard, before we're all burned to fucking hell. There are Special Forces memorials all over the country." Alex pointed out.
"Indeed, Alex. Perhaps I can be of assistance." Liu Kang offered.
"Thanks, Liu Kang. There's a big one in Washington. I'll inform the president of this. Then we'll forge a plan to intercept them. We gotta keep Mileena and Adrelita from taking as many bodies as possible." Cassie nodded. Liu Kang nods back.
"Thank you. For now, be aware of the new threat we face. Because I could not defeat it. And chances are you might not stand a chance either, Alex." Liu Kang warned his friend.
"Let them try. While we stop them, we'll come up with something to deal with Adrelita." Alex cracks his knuckles and smirks.
In the Netherrealm, Mileena and her followers are more than pleased to see the progress of the dead bodies lying everywhere, inside and outside the fortress. Mileena, Havik and Adrelita walk around together, feeling very confident. Havik loves the horrifying faces on these deceased warriors. The way they've rotted over who knows how long.
Adrelita on the other hand is more happy with the numbers rather than the appearance. And that they have worked faster than she thought they would. Mileena smirks with something different.
"I have thrashed around with that fire god. He was no match for me. The way he showed blood on his face after I threw him down into the ground hard. It amazes me" Adrelita relays to Mileena. The new Kahnum laughs at what she was just old. Liu Kang was actually defeated for the first time since Shang Tsung.
"Well done, my new warrior! You are only beginning to unlock more of your strength as time progresses. Soon, you won't be able to flinch from anything, as dragons withstand pain." Mileena growls in happiness.
"A god's defeat is only mere entertainment. But the death of a god will be music to our ears. Not even they can stop Adrelita's great power." Havik said.
"Agreed, Havik." Mileena nodded. "But first, we need more. As many as possible. They have more allies, but we'll have more armies. Not even the realms combined will stop us."
"Shall I raise your necro army, my queen?" Adrelita bowed before Mileena Kahnum. Mileena thought for a moment before deciding.
"Not yet. Your powers must grow stronger first. Besides, you can control them with a thought. And make them obey your commands. I may have an idea of who should be your first test subject. But we must wait until the right time." Mileena smiles evilly before they both look at her in confusion.
General Cassie and her family have been informed of Adrelita as well as the clans and monks about Adrelita the Dragon. They all now fear that this could be almost just as bad as Blaze itself. With Adrelita's destructive capabilities and necromancy powers, this can cause trouble for all realms, as it could lead to a losing war.
But for now, all they can do is delay the Netherrealm and keep Adrelita's army from growing. Adrelita will only inevitably become more powerful. As Alex and Cassie head to Washington with their children, they lay out the plan to them while the night was shining on them.
"Alright, you guys. We got word that an army of demon monsters are headed to Washington, where the Special Forces' biggest memorial is being hijacked. We need to intercept them, capture them and hope we delay their new dragon friend Adrelita before Liu Kang can come up with a plan to stop her. We need to prevent as many casualties as possible." Cassie instructed before turning to her husband. "Wanna explain the plan?" Alex smiles and steps up.
"Okay, listen up. We need to box them in, so here's what we do. The Alpha and Bravo teams will sneak in through the secret entrances we've installed. They'll be on stealth. Sneak in and hide until General Cassie makes the call. And then, me, her, Commander Anthony and Specialist Flora will wait for the monstrrs to barge in like party animals. That's when we come in through all four corners. We trap them, they'll have nowhere to go. Anyone that even manages to escape, that's where the Gamma team comes in and arrests them. They won't be around to interfere with anymore missions. Remember, we do not improvise unless necessary. Understood?" Alex explained to everyone and they loaded their weapons. "Good. Let's get this done and dusted."
The jets move to their destination while cloaked. They know that they cannot afford to mess this up. Mateo surprised everyone by tricking them a year ago. Alex and Cassie were not going to let that happen ever again. This time, they're going to even the score.
Upon landing, each jet fires several mini drones into the air high enough so no one would see them. They all project a forcefield that prevents anyone from being seen upon entering. Like disappearing like a magic trick.
General Cassie ordered the Alpha and Omega teams to move in and find their hiding spots from the four corners. The entire building looks like a silver-white building with multiple pillars on all four sides and two doors on each side and many glass windows. Inside the building, it is a lot bigger than anyone would think.
The inside of the memorial is three times bigger than an average cemetery. Given that many soldiers were laid to rest here in Washington. All of them have statues that all match, except each soldier has their name carved beneath them, all laid to rest in covens. Both teams move in stealthily and hide until they're told otherwise.
"Okay. We're in position. Now to wait for the bastards to come in to do their usual dirty work. Time for a little payback for those sons of bitches." Cassie said.
The monsters of the Netherrealm and followers shout as they charge towards the memorial. They all have brave, confident looks on their faces, believing that this will be easy. But they tend to be overconfident as always. As they get closer, one big brute with three arms slams his fists down to the ground. Then, there were hot cracks within the ground right where the doors and windows were. The cracks become hot enough before they explode, and magma comes flying out like kids splashing water in a pool doing cannonballs.
The doors and windows melt almost instantly, allowing the monsters to invade the memorial. As they work to dig up the graves, they were suddenly ambushed by the Alpha and Omega teams. They set their weapons to tase and stun them on Cassie's orders to prevent casualties so Adrelita doesn't use her necromancy powers to revive them, the less she has, the better. Some of them try to escape, only to be met by Alex and his family. They use their weapons, and in the case of Alex and Flora, use their powers to stun them. Alex uses his lightning to electrocute many of them without actually killing them,
Within minutes, a quarter of the army have been obliterated to the point where they can't be revived. Some have successfully escaped, only for the Gamma team to ambush them and capture them as well. Things seem to be going off without a hitch.
The Cage family come in and start making their move onto the remainder of the army.
Alex fights them two on one. One demon swings its claws at him, only for him to block with his bo staff. He pushes it away before he slams it up to its chin, decaptitating it. A brute comes in and swings at Alex. Alex slams his hands to the ground and traps its feet in the ground with stone pillars. This allows Alex to jump and punch down onto his head with energy charged punches, and does the same to his face before sending him back with a strong energy kick to the chest, blowing a hole to it.
One monster tries to grab Alex's face, but he jumps back and throws two energy discs at it, slicing off its arms and legs before Alex stomps and flattens its head.
Cassie dodges their swings as she rolls behind one and back kicks him in the lower back before she grabs his shoulders and knees his spine before shotting its brains out. She once more dodges more claw attacks and knees her chin, headbutts and punches it in the neck before throwing her down and firing three bullets at its head.
"You scratch my face, I leave bullet holes." Cassie mocked them.
Several minutes later, every last one of them was destroyed.
Alex and the family stay behind to make sure that no bodies were taken and that every last member is gone. They'll get back to base with Alex's powers. Despite the building being wrecked, their mission was a success.
"Well that wraps things up. I feel like we should celebrate once this is over." Flora smiled with confidence and rubs her hands together.
"Yeah. It'd be nice to see them gone for good. Goodbye and good riddance. Maybe bring Chang and Cyan along for the ride. Double date." Anthony said.
"Best idea we've had all day." Flora agrees.
As Alex steps forward, he turns on his aura and begins chanting his powers to create a portal, doing his best to concentrate. But then, he sees static right in front of him. Alex stops and wonders what is going on.
"Alex? Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Cassie asked.
"You guys saw that, right?" Alex asked.
"Yeah. You're trying to create a portal and you make static stuff instead. Didn't know you could do that." Anthony guessed.
"That… actually wasn't me." Alex corrected him. As soon as he said that, the same static appeared again, which this time, it was seen by everyone. "Okay. I know that wasn't me."
"But if you didn't do that, then who?" Cassie asked. But then, more static starts showing and there is noise, like something is fixing to explode. "Quick! Take cover!"
Everyone leaps behind some debris to protect themselves from whatever was about to come. Then a white flash happens and everyone covers their eyes and ears as they stay put from whatever was coming. Once the white flash stops, it slowly vanishes, the four look up to see what happened. They were expecting Mileena, Havik or Adrelita. But instead, there were people that they didn't recognize.
Three individuals laid there on the ground. None of the four recognized them. One of them was wearing a red and blue suit, a red cape, red boots and some sort of S symbol. Another had a lightning bolt on his chest and was dressed in all black and had a cape as well. And a woman with a sword, shield and lasso, wearing a crown, gauntlets, knee-high golden boots, red armor and a skirt, exposing her thighs. They three of them begin to wake up.
Alex secretly places a golden tablet down behind the debris he was hiding close to before he and his family step out to confront these new people.
"Ugh. What…. What the hell happened?" Superman asked as he helped Diana and Adam.
The three looked around to see where they were. This place is completely different than where they were last time. This was not Chilean Patagonia. Not anymore.
"This is not South America. This must be some sort of memorial service." Black Adam guessed.
"It is. All of these statues." Diana said as she approached them. "They look like military soldiers who have fallen in battle. Special Forces. But I am not familiar with that name."
The three hear some guns cock and reload. And they all turn to the Cage family, all four of them glaring at these three new people.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" Cassie demanded while pointing her pistols at them. Adam's hands light up with electricity and Diana was about to draw her sword. But Superman places a hand on her shoulder.
"Wait." Superman said to them. They stand down. "We are heroes of Earth. I am Superman. And this is Wonder Woman and Black Adam. We have founded the Regime. Created the One-Earth Government. Surely, for your age, you must know us from the news."
This only confused the family more. Never before have they heard of these guys or their government.
"We legit don't know you guys at all. We never seen you guys on tv or anything. And there's no One-Earth Government. Or this Regime or whatever you call it. How do we know you're telling the truth?" Alex asked them.
"Yeah. For all we know, you could be from the Netherrealm or something or if Mileena sent you here." Anthony said right before he covers his own mouth. He should not have said that. Flora facepalmed.
"Netherrealm? I am not familiar with that place. And I do not know who this Mileena is." Adam claimed.
"Well, somebody better start talking. What the hell is going on here? Where are you really from?" Alex begins threatening them. This gets the three angry.
"Are you threatening me, soldier?" Superman's eyes begin to glow red.
"What else? We fight to serve our country and home. And we're not scared of any of you. And by the way, those outfits look ridiculous on you two." Flora joked, making fun of Superman and Adam.
"Fine. If you won't tell us the truth, then we'll make you. Take all of them down, but do not kill the leaders… yet." Superman ordered.
Superman and Wonder Woman attack Alex and Cassie whole Black Adam attacks the twins. Adam shoots lightning at the twins, to his surprise, they were able to avoid any electrocution. As he flies in to punch one of them, Anthony does his shadow kick and kicks Black a Adam right in the chest, sending him back. Adam was surprised by Anthony's mysterious power. Regardless, he fired more lightning at him, only for Flora to once again step in the way. She absorbs the lightning without effort and smirks at him to mock him.
"Impressive powers. Not like anything I have seen. Superior to that of Blue Beetle and Firestorm. Where did you obtain this power?" Adam asked.
"Family history. Or maybe luck. Maybe both," Flora joked.
"Let us see who is stronger." Adam said before he fights them two on one.
Anthony and Flora both attack him with their weapons, only for Adam to block them with his hands before kicking Flora away and grabbing Anthony by his throat and throwing him. While his back was turned, he was suddenly zapped by lightning. He turns around and sees that Flora was responsible for it. He was surprised that the attack actually hurt him. Flora smirks and fired an energy beam at him, but he blocks it with a lightning shield in front of his hands. He slides backwards and yet keeps his footing. But he was not prepared when Anthony delivers a shadow kick to the back followed by a backflip kick.
Before the twins could attack any further, Black Adam flies up, causing the twins to accidentally punch each other across the face. They're surprised to see someone like him could fly. Like a superhero from comic books.
"Mere children. You call yourselves soldiers? People such as you are no match for the powers of Shazam." Black Adam claimed. Hearing the word Shazam made Flora snicker, thinking how silly the name is.
Anthony gives her a quick glare, and she sees this and immediately stops laughing.
The fight continues, but Adam dives in and throws a few electrical punches at Anthony. Despite his green armor, the pain still hurts as he is also kneed in the chest fore he charges up a palm strike to the chest, sending Anthony back and defeating him. Flora jumps to punch him, but he grabs her wrist, throws her to her brother and zaps her with lightning, shocking her and knocking her down, beating her as well.
Alex and Cassie continue to fight Superman and Wonder Woman. They're a lot tougher than they think. The general and colonel both get thrown backwards. But they were not gonna go down without a fight. They both nod to each other as they charge forward. They suddenly changed positions and Cassie jumps and delivers a shadow punch to Superman's face while Alex fires lightning at Diana, which she avoids. But Alex summons a stone pillar from the ground, sending Wonder Woman flying before she gets hit by fire. They both actually felt pain from their attacks.
"Not bad. You're not just some basic commander after all." Superman gestures to his jaw. "Your powers look like they're magic based. Not like any we've seen before. Just who are you guys anyway?"
"You're the ones who came here first dressed as weird retro tv show heroes. So why don't you guys tell us first?" Cassie demanded.
"I don't take orders from soldiers. I don't care if you're a general. So I suggest you stand down, or else." Superman threatened.
"If they won't tell us, we will make them." Wonder Woman said as she gestured to her lasso.
Wonder Woman attacks Alex once more while Cassie fights Superman. Diana swings her sword at Alex, which he blocks with his Bo staff. But Diana sees an opening and kicks Alex's right shin, cracking it before kicking his face and bashing him with her shield. Cassie jumps and tries to do a flying shadow kick, only for Superman to throw a punch down onto her head, sending her down to the ground. He picks her up and throws her into Alex, knocking them together.
Before the couple could get back up, Diana wraps her lasso of truth around the two and it glows golden. The two try to break free, but to no avail. They quickly get a burning sensation.
"The lasso of truth overpowers your will to tell the truth, even any of your deepest darkest secrets. Tell me who you are." Wonder Woman commanded.
Alex and Cassie try their best to fight it off and break free, but this rope they're trapped in is very strong, as it is indestructible.
"I'm….. I'm Cassie… Cage…. General of the Special Forces! And this is….. my husband Alex. And our children. Anthony….. and Flora." Cassie forcibly told them.
"Where is your current base? How do you not know us?" Wonder Woman asked.
"We….. live in…. Michigan… and we never heard of you on any news at all." Alex tells them.
"How about Bruce Wayne? Are you allies with him?" Wonder Woman accused them.
"We don't know who that is either." Cassie answered.
Diana is rather confused herself, as she knows that everyone around the world knows the Justice League and their secret identities. It was all over the news. And yet something doesn't seem right.
"They don't recognize us yet they're telling the truth." Diana said. "The lasso never failed."
"This can only mean one thing. We're in a different world alright. But not the one I intended to go to." Superman realized.
"Then their use to us have been served." Adam suggested.
"Yes. We find this Earth's president. Kill them all." Superman ordered.
"Kal, wait. These two are children. And these are their parents. I'm not sure if it's a wise idea to do that." Diana protested.
"Wherever we are, we can't have any witnesses. Because for all we know, they could be here too. Superman tells her.
Diana felt something in her heart. To her, while killing anyone that defies them is one thing, but murdering children in front of their parents even if they're in the military doesn't feel right to her. Adam on the other hand doesn't mind at all.
Black Adam places his hands in front of him and starts creating an electrical sphere to execute the four of them. Flora and Anthony barely manage to get back up and run to their parents.
"Guys. Get out of here! That's an order!" Cassie tells them.
"We're not leaving you, mom! We're staying with you!" Anthony said.
Before Black Adam could attack, he is hit backwards by a fire strike to the chest. He slides backwards and gets back up. He glares at who did that. And that person was Fire God Liu Kang.
"Stand down! All of you!" Liu Kang shouted.
"And who are you to command us?" Superman asked.
"I am Liu Kang. God of fire and thunder. Protector of the realms. The Keeper of Time. Successor to Raiden. You threaten my friends and Earthrealm. Cease your hostilities. I will not ask a second time." Fire God Liu Kang demanded.
"You're a protector? Don't make me laugh. If you are one, then you would've done what I did. I recommend that you step aside. We have business to attend to." Superman threatened.
Liu Kang does not listen. Instead, he gets into a fighting pose and both of his hands glow with fire. He gestures for someone to come at him. Kal-El nods to Black Adam. Adam flies forward with lightning in his hands. Black Adam flies in and does an electrical punch, but the fire god parries it and punches his chest, does three kicks to his chin, chest and face before doing a fire kick to his forehead and knocking him back. Adam gets and fires lightning from a distance, only for Liu Kang to teleport behind him, does two fiery punches to his back, teleports again, kicks his left ribs twice and uppercuts his stomach and sends him upwards with lightning and he hits the ceiling and he falls down, defeated.
Wonder Woman releases her lasso around Alex and Cassie and throws it at Liu Kang. His arm is wrapped, but he yanks her to him, grabs her by her neck, shocks her before zapping more lightning at her, sending her into a wall.
Superman surprises Liu Kang with heat vision, making him slide backwards. He spins and kicks a fireball in the air, which Superman avoids and flies close to him and slams both fists into his chest, sending him into a wall. But Liu Kang electrocuted Superman, knees him in his chest before doing a palm strike to his chest, sending him back. He shoots more fire while Superman uses his ice breath to try to freeze it. They're both evenly matched until they stop. Liu Kang snaps his fingers and Superman is blasted from behind by lighting, sending him to the fire god. He proceeds to do the dragon kick and a fiery backflip kick, sending Superman down.
The three of them slowly but surely get back up. These guys don't seem like they take losses very well. Superman cracks his neck as he gets up. With Alex and his family getting up, it was now five on three.
"Not bad, Fire god. Not bad." Superman complimented. "But I can do better than that, don't think you're walking away without any broken bones."
"I don't plan on holding back." Liu Kang declared. Alex was about to step forward and attack, but he quickly stops when he sees something red get tossed into the middle of the building,
"Watch out!" Alex yelled and everyone covers their eyes as there was a red flash explosion. Within seconds, the flash clears and nobody was hurt.
"What the hell was that?" Flora asked.
"A red Sun grenade." Diana realized.
"A what now? Red Sun? Are you even from earth?" Flora asked.
"Only one person is responsible for that. That means—"
"That we're here too." Another voice said.
Everyone looks up and they see five other people come jumping down from the roof. A man dressed up as a bat, a man with a T on his face with tons of drones, a clown girl, a blue beetle humanoid and finally another one like Superman except it's his cousin Supergirl.
"Bruce. Figured you'd survive the transport here." Clark glares at him.
"Coincidence? Maybe more? Who knows. But I suggest you stand down while you can. You're outnumbered and you're weak without your powers until daylight." Batman warns him.
"I never surrender to anyone. And these guys here have the answers we seek. So you should be with me instead of against me." Superman said,
"And yet beating them to death will get the information out? Not on my watch." Batman said.
"Good thing we found you just in time thanks to my super hearing. Didn't take us long." Supergirl steps up.
Liu Kang and the others are confused on who these people are. Never before in any timelines have they seen these guys before dressed as superheroes. Yet something about a few of these guys seem familiar to Liu Kang. But why?
"I overheard your entire conversation with my friends, courtesy of Alex leaving his communications tablet behind cover. Perhaps we could come to assistance." Liu Kang offered.
They all look at each other, each trying to figure out what to do. Alex and Liu Kang can't help but wonder who these new people are. Superman has the same feeling, but he cares more about getting back home and reigniting his plans. And he glares at Bruce and Kara.
"Whatever the issue is, I'll find it on my own." Superman said. Diana and Adam step up, both agreeing with him.
"Kal-El. We don't know where we are. These guys can help us. Please, let go of your aggressiveness. We can be together as one again." Kara pleaded with him, to no avail.
"Tempting. But as much as I would team with you, Kara. But with him, never, not again." Superman declared. He remembered when Batman swung that knife made out of gold Kryptonite at him, which weakened him.
"We are outmatched, we cannot fight them all." Adam said.
"You're right. And with my powers weakened, let's retreat. Now." Superman zooms off into the air, with Diana and Adam following close behind him.
Anthony couldn't help but whistle at how fast they just left. He's never seen anyone fly that fast. No one has.
"Damn. Never seen anything like it. This is all new to me." Anthony said, a bit impressed with them despite them trying to kill the family earlier.
"This is new to all of us, young Anthony." Liu Kang said before he turns to these other visitors. "I am Lord Liu Kang. God of fire and thunder. Protector of the realms. And who are you may I ask?"
"I'm Batman." He introduced himself.
"Classic line." Harley whispered, making Kara snicker.
"Batman? What? Cool, but never heard of you guys before. You guys look best in those costumes. Top notch." Flora smiled at how nice they look, including Batman. She can't help but awe at his voice.
"Well, technically, mine is more than a costume, Heh Heh. Long story." Blue Beetle chuckled nervously.
"Yeah. Those other guys thought we knew them but we didn't recognize them. Not on tv, or on social media, nothing. And they claimed to be a protector of earth, but given that guy being a dick head, I doubted it." Cassie steps up.
"It's best that we take our conversation elsewhere more privately. We don't need to attract anymore attention." Alex suggested.
"I agree. Do you have any bases we could hide out?" Batman asked the fire god.
Liu Kang nods and waves his hands in the air and everyone is zapped with lightning. Everyone vanishes within seconds back to the base. Meanwhile Superman can't help but wonder what is going on.
"What do we do now?" Diana asked,
"Find somewhere safe until morning. I'll be at my strongest once the sun is up. Then we'll go from there." Superman tells her as they fly into the night sky.
Note: Sorry if things seem off. But here, Alex and Cassie may be capable of fending them off. They were thrown off by how powerful they are. This is where the crossover begins. I hope you liked the fight scenes.
