Chapter 1 – Food of New Beginnings

In a small corner of a business district of a city in Japan, nestled in a poor corner of the shopping district, you can circle around the multipurpose building where a popular bakery known for its confectionaries and cookies called the Flying Puppy was to find a small set of stairs. These stairs would lead to the building's basement and where one would see a decorated entrance with flowers and lamps, as well as a small framing sign resting next to the door with writing on it. Getting closer to the door, one would see a small, adorable decorative piece hanging off the upper center of the door. A small cartoonish calico cat positioned in front of a round plate with a sign dangling from its mouth and the words, "Western Restaurant Nekoya", boldly presented for all to see.

As the name suggested, this door was indeed the entrance to an eatery.

Despite its location, it had been successfully acquiring business for over six decades of constant service. And despite its name, this eatery was one that didn't just specialize in foods from the western continents such as burgers, steaks and the like. The original owner and chef had chosen to have this variety since if one were to look at a map of the world, Japan was the eastern-most location, so everything technically was western compared to them. Although, most that knew the man also knew that he didn't believe in limiting the choices a guest could make when it came to food.

"If the eating's good, it doesn't matter what food is made or where it's from."

Those were the words that that man, Daiki Yamagata, had left behind after passing away ten years ago. It is a belief that the current owner continues to carry on to this day. Now, the eatery itself was open to the public during the weekdays, with Sundays being a day for all the staff to relax and prepare themselves for the upcoming week. But if one were to give it thought, one would think, 'What about Saturday?' Surely there must be a reason why this eatery, which continues to get a very good amount of business, has a close sign handing off its door handle.

And in truth it was open.

But only to…

…a more unique customer demographic.

"Here you go. Teriyaki Chicken and some Seishu to drink with it. I hope you enjoy."

"Hm-hmm, now that's the good stuff. There's nothing quite like having Teriyaki Chicken paired with white rice. It's truly the best combination dish!"

"Watch that mouth of yours, Teriyaki!" An older, sagely man donning a white robe grunted as he looked over at the slightly younger man sitting next to him at the bar tables of the eatery. Watching as the black-haired man, who had a long ponytail coming down his back and wearing a grey outfit like those that samurais used to wear, for a few seconds before turning his attention back to his own meal in front of him. Reaching out to his large beer mug with his free hand, the older man took several gulps of his drink before continuing to talk. "Unlike the nonsense you're spouting, this Pork Loin Cutlet in front of me is clearly the winner when pairing with white rice."

"Now hold on! I can't listen to such heresy!"

Both the two men turned to look behind them to see a muscular man with wild white hair and thick beard, wearing what looked like an outfit one would wear if had made it themselves in the wilderness. This wild looking man was surprisingly eating his meal with decent manners, holding a spoon in his hand as opposed to the chopsticks the others were using. "Curry Rice is hands down the best! The truth is located right there in the name, Curry RICE. Obviously, it is best suited for rice."

Before anyone could say anything more, the sounds of two chairs being pushed back echoed in the eatery as a large figure rose from the two seats he was using as one. Unlike the previous three, this person did not possess a human appearance but was instead a tall, scar-covered, anthropomorphic lion with brown shorts and black sandals similar of that of a gladiator. With a claw raised in the air holding an empty bowl, the lion-man let out a roar while a few grains of rice were stuck to his mane, "I desire seconds! Another Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl! It is a dish that cannot exist without rice!"

The three humans watched as the lion-man's golden eyes flashed as he stared down at them, as if challenging them to deny his words.

Located at another table, a blue-scaled lizardman wearing tribal armor was enjoying his egg dish, an Omelette Rice to be specific, saying nothing as he chewed his food a little more before swallowing and briefly sticking his forked tongue out to relish in the taste a little longer. "… Delicious…"

"Haaaaa~" Back at the barstools, the samurai let out a sigh before drinking half of the saké in his glass in a few quick gulps, a hiccup escaping his lips as he narrowed his gaze at the older man sitting next to him and the others nearby. "I'm talking about what goes best with white rice. What you lot are talking about with your dishes are in a different category."

Shooting up from his seat, the wilderness man's body tensed as he stared down the samurai, "Are you trying to imply that curry rice doesn't contain white rice? Are you blind or something?!"

"Hey, Masters! I want another bowl! Make haste!" The lion man once again shouted, somehow getting even more rice on his mane.

"…" The lizardman, Gaganpo, said nothing as he took another portion of his omelette rice in his mouth once again, closing his eyes to appreciate the amazing food he was eating.

"Hehehe, pass over one of those teriyaki chickens. I'll give it a try and be your taste tester." The old man stated with mirth in his voice as he sneakily snagged one of the samurai's chickens with his chopsticks while the latter was finishing of his alcohol. In the seconds between the samurai noticing and slamming his glass down in annoyance, the old man had already plopped the teriyaki chicken in his mouth. "Hmm, not bad."

"Wha- How dare you!?"

Meanwhile, in the kitchen on the other side of the bar, the head chef was looking down at pork cutlet cooking he was cooking on the stove. He was a man in his mid-to-late thirties with a thin goatee and long dark hair that he kept in small round ponytail. He was wearing a classic white chef uniform without the hat, donning a black apron and red neckerchief. Not taking his eyes off the food as he was putting the final touches before it was ready to be plated, even while he could hear the silly argument going on between his customers.

"… Seems like things are getting a little heated. Think you can go out there and calm them down?"

"You know who must've fell asleep on the job… Geez, every week with these guys. Just keep an eye on the beef in the flour seasoning mix that I set on the counter. I'll be handling the customers' orders on the floor for a minute."

"Got it. Good luck."

With that reply, the sound of footsteps could be heard lightly echoing in the kitchen moving towards the walkway leading into the eating area.

"LET IT GO, Pork Loin Cutlet!"

"I will do no such thing!"

The samurai and old man glared at one another as they used their chopsticks to wrestle back and forth a second piece of chicken that the latter was attempting to nab off the samurai's plate. The black-haired man's eyebrow twitched angrily as he struggled to retrieve his food back from the surprisingly strong old man.

"Your buffoonery is wearing out my patience! Release my food this instant."

"Be reasonable Teriyaki," The old man smirked as he continued to pull at the chicken, not noticing as someone was walking up from behind. "How else am I to find out if your claim holds any merit, let alone confirm if it is an accurate statement?" Suddenly, the downs of metal clanking on his plate caught the white-robed man's attention, causing him to turn in time to see the wilderness man snatching one of the pork loin cutlets from his plate with the curry spoon. "Hey! Don't each my food! Give it back!"

"Why don't you practice following your own words and give me back my food!?"

The curry lover seemed to dismiss the words of the sagely man and the samurai and dipped the cutlet into the bits of curry that was still on his plate before devouring the food with a thoughtful expression as the two separate dishes blended on his tongue. A second later, his eyes snapped open, and a loud, pleased shout escaped his lips. "That's not half-bad!"

Unfortunately for the old man and the samurai, the other human's sudden noise ruined their concentration as loosened their chopsticks grips on the chicken, causing it to fall to the floor. The two, especially the samurai, watched in horror as the food made it descent down to the wooden floor under them and each prepared to draw their weapons… only for a white plate to come sliding across the ground and under their stools, bumping slightly against the table before stopping right under where the chicken was going to land and saving it.

"…"

"…"

"…"

"I think that's enough excitement for now, don't you think, gentlemen?" A young voice called out from the walkway leading into the kitchen, causing all eyes to turn to see a young man of twenty years old staring at all of them with a smile that held no amusement nor warmth in his azure-colored eyes. He has blonde spikey hair with a black headband tied around his forehead and wearing a short-sleeved chef uniform that was black from the chest and sleeves up while the rest was a dark orange, including the pants. "The two of us in the kitchen been hearing you lot getting a little too rowdy. Almost ruined some perfectly cooked food as well. I hope you lot remember that there is a strict no violence policy in this restaurant… So, you have two options. You can either cool your heads and enjoy the food we are making for you in peace, or you can get banned and neither of us will cook for any of you ever again."

His words affected the five male figures as they stared back at him in shock, before each of them quietly went back to their seats. Except for the lizardman, who had remained in his chair the entire time and watched everyone in silence as they sat back down before returning to the final portions of his meal. The young man's smile warmed up at this, before glancing at the old man and samurai, the ones who had caused the most noise but had returned to their chairs as well with their magic staff and sword respectively being put away. The old man bowed his head lightly, "I apologize for the commotion, Young Naruto. I think we can all agree to keep the peace while we eat, isn't that right?"

"Yes. It won't be a problem." The samurai replied as he nodded his head while picking up a slice of his teriyaki chicken. While it wasn't as audible as those two, the others in the eatery nodded in agreement.

The newly revealed Naruto nodded his head as he walked up to the two before bending down and picking up the plate holding the single piece of teriyaki chicken, placing it on the table on the other side of the samurai. "I'm glad to hear that, Old-man Artorius, Mr. Tatsugorou. But you old folks should be more careful, no need to waste decent food. It's a major crime, ya know!"

"Yes, you certainly have a point. Both the former Master and your brother certainly taught you right." A small smile formed on Tatsugorou as he picked up his bowl of rice, taking a quick glance through the opening separating the kitchen and bar table in front of him, where the back of the head chef and owner of Nekoya could be seen placing the rice in a bowl like the one the lion-man was holding. "The future of this establishment will be in safe hands when it comes time to pass the torch, eh, Master?"

"Haha, indeed. Although don't be getting rid of me just yet! I'm nowhere near close to reaching that point in my life and Naruto still has a lot to learn about the culinary world before that happens." The chef, Mako, replied with a grin as he finished pork cutlet into the bowl before sealing it with the lid.

Artorius brought a pork loin cutlet to his mouth with a nod of his head, taking a bite of his favorite meal before a pleased hum escaped his lips. "Hmm… Yes, I suppose it would be too soon for that to ever happen. The boy's meals are delicious, and he holds the potential, but he is still young."

"Yes, experience is the best teacher." The wilderness man eating his curry rice, Alphonse, added while crossing his muscular arms over his chest.

"Oi! Don't go acting like you old geezers don't enjoy the food I make you!"

"Maybe so, but even if the food is good, you do have your quirks when handling customers."

"Being able to make a customer feel welcome and at ease when they come here to eat is a good quality… and not commenting on their ages helps too. Especially if you talk to women."

"It does this old heart good to see you still holding that same spirit from when you were such a little thing."

"… Omelette rice… delicious."

A small pout formed on Naruto while he lightly glared around at older men in the restaurant, which only made them chuckle at the young man's actions.

"Okay, Okay. I think that's enough teasing my little brother while he's working." Master Mako had a small smirk on his face as he placed a blue and white bowl on the dividing platform window. "Naruto, Lionel's rice bowl is done. Bring it over to him and then I want you to get started on the beef stew once you finish up Gaganpo's to-go order. I've already got the ingredients cut and ready."

"Got it, bro." Naruto answered while reaching over the divider to take the bowl from his father before making his way over to Lionel, receiving a roar in appreciation before the lion-man started attacking the rice bowl with gusto.

Artorius chuckled as he took another gulp of his beer, "Despite our comments, I can see the boy has grown immensely since he came to this world all those years ago. Even picked up some of his Great-Grandmother's teachings and skills to manage those abilities of his. Excellent speed and accuracy when throwing that plate, as well as his flexibility when helping you out with the rushes."

"Yup, it's truly been a blessing having him help on Days of Satur. Though even then, it can be a little difficult with just the two of us." A small smirk formed on Mako's face as he watched his son say something to the lizardman, Gaganpo, who nodded his head as he continued eating his omelette rice dish… 'It's hard to believe that it's been almost fourteen years since Naruto came into my life.'

(Flashback)

"Okay, Mako, I don't think we'll get any more customers coming through the door tonight. Which is perfect since we've got to close early today. Start getting the cleanup ready and I'll make sure the supply room upstairs is secure for the weekend. Your grandmother is coming here before we head over to the hospital to meet up with your brother." An elderly chef in his mid-sixties with a large frame stated as he looked over at his grandson, a younger Mako who didn't have his goatee yet and has a small low ponytail sticking out from under his chef hat. "Heh. Hard to believe that I'm already going to be a Great-Grandfather at my age."

"Those two have been excited for this for a while," Mako replied while grabbing a clean utility basket and a fresh cloth from the storage cabinet. "He said they were going to have a girl, right?"

A low hum rumbled from Daiki Yamagata's throat as he finished cleaning another pot in the sink, "Probably gonna be a wild card like you both were when you boys were little."

"Haha, oh come on, Gramps. I don't think the two of us were that bad." Mako denied as got to work on wiping down the tables in the dining area, silently thankful that the messier of customers that came on the Day of Satur had come earlier that day.

He lost track of how many times he had go extra hard to clean up liquor stains and grease from the fried foods left behind some of dwarves when they got to inebriated. But at the same time, it made him smile since it meant that they greatly enjoyed the food. Even if it was only because the magical world that their restaurant connected to was majorly underdeveloped when it came to the culinary arts that his world had gotten used to. It sometimes boggled his mind that they could cast all sorts of spells and fight monsters that he could only read about in storybooks, but something like a glass mug or combining certain ingredients blows their minds.

"You'd be surpr-"

*RING*

The sound of the Nekoya's doorbell ringing as it's wooden frame opened pulled Mako and his grandfather from continuing their conversation, followed by the sounds of rain and rumbling of thunder, making the two turn their heads towards the entrance to see a small figure standing at the doorway with the darkness of the rainy night air shadowing over it and momentarily preventing them from seeing who it was. A flash broke out from a bolt of lightning flashing in a distance, revealing to the two men that the small figure was in fact a young boy with blonde hair that was matted down from the rain and blue eyes. The child looked to be no older than six years old and was currently soaked to the bone from the heavy storm pouring down on the other side of the door behind him, with what seemed to be a destroyed building behind him.

Mako blinked in surprise at the unfamiliar face, having never seen a child this young enter Nekoya's doorway before, especially on their own without any parent or guardian accompanying them. Taking note to how hard the drenched boy was shaking, the younger chef took a slow step forward while the door magically shut itself as it did whenever someone passed through. Taking a small note to how the door seemed to have a noticeable blue hue for a few seconds before turning back to normal. "Hello there. I didn't think anyone-"

"AH!? I'm sorry!" The boy called out in fear as he took a step back, terror present in his teary, azure-blue eyes. "I didn't mean to come in! The rain was hurting me and something smelled good and I…"

"Hey, hey. It's okay. You're not in trouble or anything…" Mako raised his hands up in a calming manner, not moving any closer upon seeing how wary the child was. It was almost as if he expected the adult to attack him. There was also the state of how dirty his clothes were in addition to the level of drench from the rain. "Why don't you just take a deep breath kiddo. What's your name?"

"… Naruto… Naruto Uzumaki." The young boy, Naruto, closed his eyes and bowed his head, his tiny arms scrunching together as if he was expecting some kind of negative response from speaking his name. "Um… Where exactly am I?

"So, you said your name is Naruto? That a nice, strong name you've got." Daiki's voice called out, making the two turn their heads to see the old man walking up to them with a large towel in his hand and a small smile on his face. "As for where this is, I think that can wait. First, we should help you dry up. Don't want you to get sick from being all soaked to the bone like that."

A large growling noise echoed through the empty eatery with the noise's origin being Naruto's stomach.

The two chefs were silent for a few seconds as they watched Naruto bring his hands to his stomach with a soft whine, before Daiki let out a chuckle. "While we're at it, why don't we get you something to eat as well. Nothing beats a rainy evening like a hot meal after all. Mako, mind if I leave helping the boy out to you while I make him something to eat. We should have some time before your grandmother shows up."

"Oh, uh. Sure." Mako nodded in confirmation before taking the towel from his grandfather, watching as he made the turn to head into the kitchen to make something for Naruto… and speaking of. "Why don't we find you a table and get you dry."

"O-Okay…" Following behind the pony-tailed man, Naruto was directed to a seat at one of the center tables and was silently looking around the room in curiosity.

Soon the sounds of chopping and the stove turning on could be heard coming from the kitchen.

"Here's a towel for you. Are you fine with rubbing yourself down?" Mako asked while offering the large cloth to the boy, who remained quiet as he slowly took the towel and began wiping the water from his head. The older man was slightly surprised to see that as the towel was absorbing the water, Naruto's hair started to spike out on its own. 'Now that's a surprise. Most of the time, you don't see that kind of wild hair on someone naturally, not with someone as human looking like him. And besides those strange whisker-like markings on his cheeks, I don't see anything that would point to him being one of the races from the other world. Judging by his name, it's possible that he's from the Land of Sea or Land of Mountain, and yet, his tanned skin and looks are like those from the Land of Sand. But why would he be out in the rain by himself?'

"Hey, mister," The chef was pulled from his thoughts as Naruto called out to him, looking much drier thanks to the towel, which was currently wrapped around his shoulders. "Thanks for the towel. But, um… Where exactly is this place? I was trying to hide out in some abandoned buildings, but that door appeared out of nowhere! It wasn't even a part of the wall or anything!"

Placing a hand on his hip, Mako let out a chuckle and glanced towards the door. "Yeah, that tends to confuse everybody the first time around too. That door you entered through is what is known as a portal that connects this place to another world, the one you came from. This is an eatery that belongs to my grandfather, the older man that you saw earlier, called the Western Restaurant Nekoya. Though I suppose you can also call it by the other name that other customer tends to refer it, A Restaurant to Another World."

"So, the place is called Nekoya… after a cat?"

"Huh? I am surprised you know that. Not many people know the meaning of this world since there are so many different words to what we have." Mako blinked in mild surprise while looking down at Naruto, who rubbed the back of his head shyly

"… I heard someone from my village call this masked woman Neko once and I found out it means cat … I sorta have trouble with learning stuff, since I don't have anyone to help."

'No one, huh?' Mako thought to himself before once again taking in the boy's appearance. That helped put things into perspective. He was an orphan.

Looking around the room with childlike curiosity, Naruto took notice of the design of the eatery after relaxing a little. "I've never been in a place like this before. Sure, I've seen shops that have weird objects, but this place is so weird!" A thought seemed to cross the blonde child's mind before turning back top Mako, "Um, you said this was a place to eat, right? And that other guy said he was making food for me… but I don't have any money."

A loud laugh was heard coming from the pathway near the tables, where Naruto turned to see Daiki walking up from the blocked pathway with a tray in hand, where a bowl was at the center and steam coming off it. A small amount of drool formed out of the corner of Naruto's mouth as Daiki came closer with the dish. He didn't know what it was, but the smell coming from it was incredible. The youngest in the room could only star in anticipation as the bowl was placed in front of him, revealing a strange looking dish that had a large amount of broth with a strange ball of string inside of the liquid with slices of pork on top. There were other things in the soup as well such as some small green rings and a few brown rectangles, but the thing that caught his attention the most was the strange small, white circle in the center of the bowl with a dark pink spiral in it.

Seeing the boy stare down at the dish is awe, Daki felt a smirk form over his face and crossed his arms. "Don't go worrying about that. This one won't cost you a thing. A nice hot bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen is just what you need to warm up after being in the cold rain!"

"I'm surprised you had time to make the broth so quickly. Did you just go with a quick recipe?"

"That's right. Luckily we still had some tonkotsu broth ingredients still out from earlier dishes, but I can guarantee it'll be delicious."

"… Still a little strange that we're a Western style restaurant and yet we have so many Eastern-style recipes on the menu."

"Eh. We're on the most eastern part of the map, so technically, everything is on the western side of the map."

"Tonkotsu Ramen, huh? It looks so weird but at the same time it smells so good…" Naruto could feel his face warm up from just looking down at the bowl of steaming soup, before looking up at the two older men with sparkling eyes. "And I can really have all to myself?!"

"Of course! A growing boy like you needs to eat a lot to grow up big and strong! Just be careful not to burn your mouth and eat slowly, it's hot since it was just made." Daiki warned as he and Mako watched Naruto grab a pair of chopsticks that were set up next to the bowl and a glass of water, only for his tiny hand to stop when he saw the chirirenge spoon that was also there. He could see the slight confusion on Naruto's face as his blue eyes shifted between the two different utensils and the ramen, probably trying to figure out what he was supposed to use. "If you want, I can show you the best way to enjoy that meal to the fullest."

"Really? Yes, please! Thanks a lot, gramps!"

As it turned out, unknown to any of them at the time, the Yamagata family ended up gaining two new family members that night.

(Flashback Ends)

By the time that Daiki's wife and Mako's grandmother, Koyomi Yamagata, had arrived for them to head to the hospital, Naruto had just finished his bowl of ramen. Actually, the boy ended up satisfied with his fourth bowl of ramen. The woman had seemed to be a little on guard when she had first seen Naruto sitting at one of the tables when she arrived, briefly staring between his face and his stomach, before greeting the boy with a small smile on her face and took note of how on guard Naruto was when he had first saw her before her husband had introduced the two to each other.

Time quickly passed as Koyomi and Naruto had a light conversation while the two chefs finished cleaning up the kitchen and restaurant, and soon it came time for Naruto to leave… only for the three adults to be surprised that when Naruto, who had been strongly hesitant to leave and only relaxed when he found out he could come back in a week, attempted to open the Nekoya door to head back to the other world only for them to see the familiar staircase leading to the outside of their restaurant.

The family had an eventful week as they tried to figure out what had happened to Naruto's route back to where he had entered from, with the blonde six-year-old staying with the elderly couple the entire time. He had been completely blown away by how different everything looked from the world he had known, though the real shock was for Daiki and his family when Naruto seemed to already have a decent knowledge of some of the technological devices that they used in their world. There had also been some confusion when Naruto tried to explain where he was from, which was apparently a hidden village of Shinobi called Konohagakure located in a place called the Land of Fire, but none of them had heard of such a place before.

Koyomi, who revealed that she was originally from the other world and had been a part of a group called the Four Heroes when she went by the name Yomi, had confirmed that there was no such place that existed back when she lived there, no was there one now based on what she was told by old friends that she talked to whenever they visited Nekoya.

It had taken a few weeks of investigation and several Days of Satur for them to conclude that Naruto was somehow from an entirely different world from the two that were connected by the Nekoya Restaurant. Yomi had been mildly surprised when she heard this but had been quick to believe that it was possible. After all, if she had ended up being transported from one world to another almost seventy-five years ago, then it was entirely possible for there to be more worlds out there. Though it did confuse her on how the Nekoya door connected to this third world momentarily went it was only supposed to link the ones she had a connection with. However, that was only a small matter now to think about, the only thing that was their priority now was the six-year-old child that had nowhere to go.

Fortunately, Daiki had a solution in mind and welcomed Naruto into the family. He and Yomi officially adopted Naruto as their grandchild, making Mako his older brother. Every day was interesting as Naruto slowly, but surely, integrated into the lifestyle of this new world, as well as helping his new grandfather and brother whenever the Day of Satur came around. Soon, the days turned into months and then years, with Naruto Yamagata reaching the age of twenty-one and joining his older brother in running Nekoya as his Sous Chef and partner.

*RING*

""Thank you very much for stopping by!"" Both brothers called out to the final customer they had served as they exited the restaurant back to their world.

"Sorry that you have to be the one to keep being the one to make this dish every time, Naruto." Mako apologized with a chuckle as he sliced the kernels off several freshly pulled sweet bicolor corns, placing the cobs off to the side before putting the kernels on a baking sheet. "I don't know what it is about some of our customers, but somehow certain ones always prefers it when you are the one preparing their food, especially that one and her beef stew."

"Hehehe, don't worry about it. I'm happy to hear that there are at least a few customers that prefer my cooking to yours. It also helps that she is the final customer of the day and doesn't show up until after everyone else has already left. It give me plenty of time to prepare it." Naruto replied with a grin as he worked on two separate pots on the secondary stove, stirring the contents of the larger pot as he spoke. Being satisfied with the progression of the beef stew he had been working on for almost four hours now, the blonde shifted his attention to the slightly smaller pot and lifted the lid, greeted with a decent puff of steam hitting his face as soon as he lifted the metal seal. "Awesome! It looks like both are coming along nicely. Now to give it a little taste…"

Mako watched in amusement as his little brother poured some of the stew broth in a little sauce dish to taste his concoction, bringing it to his lips and paused after taking a sip. "So, what's the verdict?"

"… Not bad, maybe a little pink salt in the larger one?" Naruto mused as he reached over to a small bamboo container and grabbed a pinch of the fine pink condiment between his fingers before sprinkling it into the beef stew.

" So much effort put into pleasing that woman. You'd better not be forgetting my dinner, Naruto!" A deep voice spoke up from in the corner of room, causing the two men to turn their heads to see a red-orange colored fox with black fur around its eyes that stretch up to its ears, relaxing in a large green doggy bed with a white porcelain bowl next to it. The fox was roughly the size of a Great Dane and was lazily glaring back at the two men, "I refuse to allow an overgrown lizard to receive her meal before I do."

"Don't be such a grouch, Kurama, you know your American-Style Spicy Barbeque Ribs are baking in the oven," Naruto retorted with a deadpanned stare. "For a creature said to be 'a powerful catra-based entity and does not require food or sustenance in the same way a physical being does', you certainly like to eat more than any dog I've seen."

"What was that, you little brat! I am the greatest of the Tailed Beasts, the Nine-Tailed Fox, Kurama! Don't you dare compare me to those meager house-pets that this world possesses!" Kurama growled as he rose up from his cushiony throne, revealing nine tails sticking out from his rear. "It's because of you and those magic-users that I'm stuck in this tiny form after you stripped me of almost all of my power! Back in my original body, I could cause tsunamis without a thought, destroy mountains with a swing of a single tail… and for the last time, it's called CHAKRA!"

Shrugging his shoulders at Kurama's words, Naruto raised his ladle to point at the nine-tailed fox. "Doesn't matter, since all that power we had turned itself into energy for me to use. And hey, you were the one who wanted to be free of that cage inside of me and agreed to the deal. We'd let you out to stretch your legs, and in exchange, you'd protect this place from any extremely violent customers. Not my fault that forming a Familiar Contract between us ended up costing so much of your power that you shrunk down."

"Tch!" The fox snapped his head to the side with an angry pout, knowing that it was true despite not wanting to admit it. He got most of his freedom back, but was only able to hold ten percent of his true power unless Naruto allowed him access to the rest, "Just make sure the sauce is extra spicy."

Raising his hands in a placating manner while stepping in between the two, Mako let out an amused chuckle. "Now, now, you two. We're all family here, so let's take a breath. Kurama, we're almost done with things here for the night and your ribs are cooking as we speak. Give it twenty or so minutes. I'll even make some of those Red-Beaned Daifuku Mochi that you enjoy with it if you just wait a little longer… if you and Naruto agree to share them."

"…"

"…"

"… I don't see any issue with that arrangement."

Knowing the look that his brother was sending him, Naruto nodded his head with a sigh. "Yeah, that's not a problem with me either." Turning his head back to the two pots of beef stew on the stove, the blonde took a quick glance at the clock that read a little passed nine. 'She should be walking through the door in about twenty minutes. Plenty of time for everything to finish up… I don't get why Kurama calls her an overgrown lizard… Especially since…'

A red iris with a golden slitted pupil shifted as it stared down at field of gold located on a range of volcanic peaks, where the glimpse of something brown and rectangular was seen resting in the center, "Is it finally time?"

The creature this eye belonged to descending from the cloudy night sky above to land in her nest, where the combination of the small strips of manga and its light reflecting off the thousands of golden treasures collected through the hundreds of millennia shined through the night to reveal the creature to be a titanic red dragon. A low rumble escaped from the dragon's throat as it landed in the piles of gold used as its nest, but it's eyes focused on perhaps one of its greatest treasures in it's possession, a lone door with the Nekoya sign hanging from it.

"Aaaaah… Finally, there it is."

"My Queen." The dragon turned its gaze to see their servant, a fire demon with an appearance that had similarities to a dragonkin and wearing an outfit similar to those she had been butlers wear, bowing to her. "I see that the door has returned. Would it be presumptuous to assume you require your usual attire?"

"That is correct. I am going to be dining out tonight." Flames erupted from the dragon and completely enveloped its form, before the fire and dragon's massive form began to shrink moments later until it dispersed to reveal a human figure in its place… a female human figure… a naked female human figure. The large dragon had swapped her scaly appearance to a beautiful, voluptuous woman with tanned skin, long wavy hair reaching below her thighs that was as red as her beautiful eyes and two large horns growing out of her head, "Bring over my dress. The one with the high collar this time."

But this did not seem to bother the demon butler in the slightest, lowering his head lightly further in acknowledgement of her orders, "At once. As you command, my Queen."

Leaving Red Queen to herself as the demon went off to retrieve the specified dress, and some matching heels, the woman rested her body against a large pile of gold coins that was directly in front of the Nekoya door. A slight shiver of delight went through her body as she felt her heated treasures press against her bare magically created human skin, and yet it did nothing to quell the desire building up in her. 'Just how shameful is this. Over 100,000 years old and I can't bear the wait of only a few moments… And yet, I must honor the contract I made to the two masters of Nekoya, my treasure.' Crossing one of her flawless legs over the other as she continued to stare at the door in front of her. Teasing her. Tempting her. 'Indeed, to dine alongside me, one of the Six Great Dragons would be considered an honor. And yet at the same time, it would make things incredibly uncomfortable for the other diners.'

Concentrating her magic into her eyes, Red peered through the door as if it wasn't blocking her vision to see what the situation inside of Nekoya looked like. It wouldn't do for her to arrive prematurely because of some stranglers, especially after what happened the last time. A soft laugh escaped at the memory, though her attention was quickly grabbed as she watched Naruto appear from around the corner, followed by that irksome kitsune, with a large plate in hand that had a large slab of meat on it. It seemed that she was going to have to share the dining space tonight.

'Oh?' One of the dragon-turned-woman's eyebrows quirked at the sight of Naruto's head perking up and glancing towards the door upon placing the plate down for his Familiar, whose sat himself at one of the dining chairs and morphed his paws into hands to grasp the dish in front of him. 'It would seem the younger master has been improving his magical awareness… How interesting~"

"My Queen. Your dress is ready for you." Her servant called out to her with said dress in hand.

Perfect timing.

"Wonderful," Red practically glided over to her servant and allowed him to assist her with putting the outfit on. It was silly to think that such outfits gave her trouble at times, and yet her butler's large hands maneuvered so delicately and skillfully as to not harm the dress. With a few adjustments done to the back of her revealing, and form-fitted dress, she felt her hair fall back into place and took in her appearance to double check if anything was amiss. "Tell me. These are those heels are slightly different from my usual. Are these those stilettos you acquired a few weeks ago correct? The ones that became popular amongst nobles in recent years."

The horned demon behind her nodded his head, "Yes. I have heard that they assist greatly with posture and can be much smooth to walk in. Women have even commented on how confident their presence appear and how they help flaunt their legs. Not that you need any help, my Queen."

"Very true. I'll be heading off now." Red stated as she picked up a large empty pot that was resting next to the Nekoya door while her servant bowed his head with an arm placed across his chest.

*RING*

"I have arrived, Masters." Red called out as she entered through the magical door, her actions catching the attention of the two chefs and the kitsune, who let out a huff before going back to his meal.

Naruto was the first one to greet the woman with a smile, "Welcome back. I hope you have had a pleasant week. Am I too assume you wish for your usual?"

Laughter escape from her lips as she placed the empty pot she was holding down, "As if you need to ask. I request the same meal every time. That's why I assume you have already prepared it based on that delicious aroma. I'll start off with one bowl of beef stew." With that said, the red-haired woman sat herself down at one of the tables next to Kurama's. "I trust you were the one who cooked it."

"Of course, just like you always request. I'll have your beef stew out and ready for you in a bit." Naruto replied with a short bow before making his way into the kitchen… leaving Red and Kurama to themselves.

Glancing over as the kitsune, who was enthusiastically devouring his ribs, the dragon woman's eyes narrowed slightly at the sight. "I see your table manners haven't improved at all, fox."

"Hmph. As if I care what you think, lizard." Kurama said nothing else as he refused to look at the red-headed woman. He already had the pleasure of dealing with enough annoying red-heads to last him a lifetime back in his original world, the last thing he wanted was to interact with one that was one of the supposed 'goddesses' of the Other World while he was enjoying his meal.

The two sat in partial silence, since Red refused to call Kurama's loud chewing quiet, as the former waited for her meal to be served. Luckily, she didn't have to wait long as Naruto came walking back with one bowl in hand and her utensils in another. Placed the dish in front of her, Red was pleased to see the sight of her beef stew taking center stage of the bowl with the tender beef decorated at various locations, coupled with a few slices of onions, a peeled potato resting off to the side, and cooked carrots cuts. There was also a lone floret of broccoli used for the garnish and a white creamy sauce decorated over the tender meat.

"Thanks for your patience. I present your Beef Stew." Naruto said formally as he smiled down at the woman, "Please, let me know if you need anything else."

With that said, Naruto soon retreated into the back and left their final customer of the night to enjoy her meal. Red took in a soft inhale as the steam coming out of the bowl, her enhanced sense of smell picking up on the beef's delicious smell and each one of the spices being used to enhance both the broth and ingredients used make this mouthwatering dish. "Truly, the aroma alone can give one glimpses into the heavens above! And the temptation to finish it all immediately… but I must be patient and savor this jewel."

'Such a drama queen." Kurama rolled his eyes as his teeth ripped off another long strip of pork off the bone. Seriously, who got so gaga over foo-a loud, pleased groan escaped as he tasted the spicy combination of the special barbecue sauce and juiciness of the rib's fattiness explode in flavor with another bite.

Ignoring the kitsune next to her, Red dipped her spoon into the broth of the stew and watched as it quickly filled the utensil before bringing it to her lips. Pausing for a moment to brace herself, the woman brought the spoon to her lips and tipped the broth into her waiting mouth. It took her a moment to truly savor just this one spoonful as the extravagant taste tickled her tongue. Before long a heavenly sigh escaped her lips.

"Haaaaa… Delicious."

With those words spoken and her first taste complete, Red continued to enjoy the beef stew with more gusto. Spoonful after spoonful, she quickly yet gracefully devoured the meal and went after every corner of the bowl's contents. Between the vegetables, the broth and the tender beef, she didn't know which part was the best component of the dish. Sure, the beef played a key role in how broth's flavor took shape, but the same could be said for how the vegetables balanced out the taste of the beef to give a sensation palate to the tongue, or the spices being used to tickle the senses and the potatoes absorbing the broth into itself brought on another amazing flavor… and then, there was the additional ingredient that she enjoyed. Something that unlike the original Master and the older of the two current Masters were unable to do that Naruto could, even with their exceptional talents.

'The potency of his magical energy brings out even more to this dish, which is incredible for one so young.' Red thought to herself as she chewed on a decent piece of beef with it being so tender that it practically cut itself as soon as her teeth made contact.

It wasn't a notion most would be aware of, especially with how underdeveloped the Other World was in the culinary arts, but Red learned that apparently it was possible to enrich a meal by infuse magical power into while cooking. Only those that were creatures of magical origin and one that could practice the magical arts were capable of such a thing, though not many would even know such a thing could even be done at all. But that was the unique thing about Naruto, since he was the only one she knew of in both worlds that could do such a thing, but apparently his magical level was so large that he was unconsciously imbuing the food he worked with magical power. It wasn't anything massive, just the slightest touch of it mixing into the dishes but it was still enough that she could feel it tingle against her own reserves and made her favorite meal even more enjoyable. She had no doubt that if Naruto properly learned how to use this unique power, he could even create dishes that could heal wounds or enhance the abilities of those that ate it.

"… Ha…" The dragon was disappointingly pulled from her thoughts as she stared down at the now empty bowl in front of her, barely even any broth left to fill one last spoon. But that was to be expected, even if she took her time and ate for almost a good hour thanks to being able to reheat her own food with fire magic. "… That is just how it is for now. Masters! I would like more of the same. You know what I mean, correct?"

"Of course. Naruto and I have the next batch all set up for you whenever you're ready." Mako called out to her from the kitchen, to which she nodded her head before rising from chair.

Without barely a glance at the relaxed Kurama gnawing on the bare rib bones, Red made her way around the walkway and into the kitchen where the brothers were waiting for her with the large pot of beef stew. The woman took out two gold coins out and placed them in Mako's open hand. Her payment for the bowl she ate and the large pot she would use as take-out to last her the week until the next Day of Satur. But as she made her way to the stove where her new pot was resting, she noticed a much smaller container wrapped up alongside it.

"What is this?"

"Oh, that is a little something I made earlier." Naruto admitted while rubbing the back of his head with a sheepish grin, "I noticed the last time that you had someone waiting for you on the other side when you were leaving. I hope it's not too presumptuous of me, but I had gotten the feeling he might've gotten hungry waiting for you. So, I made him some Gyūdon to enjoy this time. Don't worry about cost, it's a gift from me."

"… I see. That is very kind of you, Young Master. I am sure he will enjoy it." Placing the container on top of her take-out pot, Red had no issues lifting both up and silently made her way towards the exit with both men a few steps her. Mako quickened his pace a little to open the door for her, allowing her an easy passage out. "Farewell to the both of you. I shall return on the next Day of Satur."

"I certainly look forward to it." Mako responded, politely bowing his head in farewell as the woman walked past him.

"See you the next time. I hope you both enjoy the meals." Naruto called out just as his brother was releasing his hold on the door and moved to grab the empty pot she had left at the exit earlier with the sound of the door fully closing, Naruto lifted the pot with one hand. "Man. I swear, I can never believe my eyes whenever I see all those piles of gold she has decorating the place. Do you think such a thing are comfy to sleep with?"

"I doubt that would be the case for us. But dragons are another story after all. Now come on, we've got a few more things we've got to do before calling it a night."

(Red Queen's Nest)

"Welcome back, My Queen." The dragon's butler greeted her as she emerged from the Nekoya, the door magically vanishing behind her as she walked forward with the large pot of beef stew in her hands. "I trust you enjoyed yourself."

"Naturally. As always, it was a pleasurable experience." Red replied as she placed the large pot down and placed the contained-on top of it onto the floor.

The demon quickly noticed this as he watched his master pull off her dress with a flourish, taking the dress and shoes from her while making sure to not crinkle the outfit. "My, Queen, did you request something new for yourself this time around?"

"Actually, that is a gift to you from one of the Masters of Nekoya. He asked me to deliver this to you, a Gyūdon, I think he called it." Flames once again covered her body as she spoke, returning to her dragon form and maneuvered herself around to face her servant and the large pot. "I trust that you will accept his offering without issue. Think of it as a reward for your dedication."

"Of course. It is an honor to receive such a gift. You have my humblest of gratitude." The demon took a step back from the red dragon as she drew closer to the pot, being sure to grab the container Naruto made for him as he retreated and left the goddess to her meal.

Watching her servant depart, Red was quick to lightly knock off the lid of the pot and stared down at the much larger portion that Naruto had made for her. "And now, to enjoy even more of this meal."

(Time Skip)

Night quickly ended and morning soon came to both Naruto and Mako as they woke up to the breaking dawn of Sunday's sunlight shining through the curtains of their bedrooms that the two used just after the Day of Satur, located two floors above the restaurant that was accessible by elevator, and took the light as signals to the two that it was time to get up. Luckily, since it was a Sunday, they didn't have to worry about rushing to head down… well, one of them wasn't in much of a rush.

Naruto let out a loud yawn as he waited for his brother to hit the elevator button to take them down, his eyes barely staying open as he was laying on top of a standing Kurama as if he was walking, talking bed. "Oh man, why do we have to wake up at 4 am on a Sunday. Today is our day off. Can't we sleep in a bit before we work on prepping and stuff?"

"I get what your saying, but it shouldn't take us long. Let get some breakfast in us first… The corn pottage I was making last night should be ready to eat now…" While he didn't try and show it, Mako was equally as tired as Naruto, rubbing the crust out of his eyes as the elevator door finally opened. "And look at it this way, the sooner we finish up, the sooner we can do something more entertaining in the city."

"Finally… I saw on the tv that one of those springtime festivals is happening in the next city over. I want to go stretch my legs and walk around." Kurama stated as he followed Mako into the elevator with Naruto still resting on his back, not looking bothered at all by the extra weight. He was about to say something else when a strange scent passed his nose, "Huh? That's strange."

"Is something wrong, Kurama?" Mako asked as he pressed the button that would take them to the restaurant floor.

"I'm picking up the scent of a someone else down below in the kitchen area." Kurama revealed as he nudged Naruto awake with the back of his head, to which the blonde batted the kitsune in response before getting off his back. "It doesn't seem like they are moving around from wherever they are… From the feel of it, I think they're a demon."

Scratching the back of his head, Naruto could feel the sleepy cobwebs in his brain dissipate and his head thinking more clearly. "A demon, huh? Grams did say that some from the Other World would try and force themselves over to our side without warning. I wonder when they passed through the door." Feeling the light rumble of the elevator reaching the desired floor, the three were greeted by the usual darkness of the unoccupied facility. "Just be careful, Mako. If you see any movement, let me or Kurama know, and we'll take care of it."

"Don't go jumping the gun too fast. Let's see if we can resolve this peacefully first. It wouldn't do to have any damages done to the eatery." The older brother replied as he walked into the kitchen with Naruto and the Familiar a few steps behind. Luckily, it didn't long for them to find the one who had managed to somehow find their way into Nekoya as they glanced around the kitchen's island table and found the demon immediately. "What the-?

"Uh… Is this… the demon?"

"Hmmm… Not what I was expecting."

Each of them stunned at the sight of a golden-blonde haired girl fast asleep on the floor, curled up in front of the stove where Mako had left the corn pottage to simmer through the night. Unlike the images that the three had in their heads of what the demon would look like, the girl resting on the tile floor seemed to be the most human-looking one that they had ever seen. From what they could gather from her appearance, she looked like she was in her early twenties and was wearing a red and white outfit with long sleeves and a large red hat on top of her head, which the two men could help but notice how beaten up and patched-together her clothes were. She didn't appear to have any extra appendages or features that came with being a demon. Honestly, if it weren't for Kurama's nose, they'd thought she was a normal human girl.

As if she could sense she was being watched, the girl slowly opened her eyes. Her bright green eyes glowed a little through the dark room while she stared back at the three above her with a glazed-over expression from just waking up. Lifting her body up, the girl had a blank look on her face for a few seconds before recognition started to flash in her eyes, "Huh? Where am I?" Shifting her head back and forth as she tried to process the room caused the hat on top of her head to start tipping off the side of her head, flashing a brief hint of something brown underneath. The girl almost instinctively reached up to secure her hat, the girl's focus locked on the two men in front of her. "I'm very sorry. I let myself in without asking!"

The two of them said nothing while Mako's gaze drifted to the opened pot he had left on the stove, where all the corn pottage he had made the night before was gone with a used ladle resting inside of it. His actions made the girl follow his gaze and saw the empty pot… that she… completely ate earlier after wandering in.

"I'm so sorry for that too!" The demon girl apologized again while bowing deeply, causing her hat to once again fall off, only this time she didn't catch it in time revealing a pair of very noticeable goat horns on the top of her head. "Oh, no!"

"Hey, hey, don't worry so much. Just take a breath, okay?" Naruto called out in a calm, placating manner as he knelt and picked up the hat for the girl, before holding it out for her. "You don't have to worry about hiding your horns here, this is a safe place."

Seeing that his brother's words seemed to confuse the girl, Mako decided to take charge of the conversation. "He's right, you're not in trouble. Why don't you just start off with a name first and we can take it from there."

"Um, my name? It's Aletta." She introduced herself while accepting her hat back from the other blonde that was smiling at her while the other had a calm, almost stoic look as he seemed to process the situation. There was also the strange, furred creature sitting behind the two. Aletta felt her body stiffen at how it had a bored look on its face, and yet its red eyes seemed to peer straight into her soul.

This whole scenario was so weird!

One moment, she was trying to fight off the cold and her hunger while trying to spend the night on some hay she found in the ruins of an old house, being too hungry to even sleep it off, and the next she followed this incredible smell that led her to this strange door that was shining underneath the moonlight's glow. Curiosity and hunger led her to open the door, not expecting to see a completely new room on the other side where the smell seemed to grow even stronger. The strange designs of the place and how she ended up there only made the situation weirder for her, up to the point were she thought it was a dream! That belief led her to continue her exploration where she found the pot filled with the unknown night sauce and the origin of the wonderful aroma. A single sip she had bombarded her with flavors she didn't know existed and her empty stomach demanded more until she had finished every devouring everything inside of the pot.

"I see. So, you thought my restaurant was a dream, huh?" The goatee man interrupted her thoughts while gesturing to the empty pot on the stove. "And you ended up eating so much that you exhausted yourself."

"Huh?! How did you know that?" Aletta exclaimed as she took a step back in fear.

A snort escaped from Kurama, "You were monologuing your entire situation about how you got her after you said your name. We didn't even need to ask."

"W-Was I really? I'm so sorry!" The poor demon girl's cheeks flushed from embarrassment at the kitsune's words. "Wait a minute… did that beast just talk?! It looks like a fox!"

"Oh, yeah, that's Kurama. He's my Familiar and a friend. Don't worry about his tone, he's always a grumpy-pants with attitude." Naruto dismissed with his hands on his hips as his gaze went up and down Aletta's form, ignoring the annoyed look Kurama was sending his way.

"A Familiar? I think I've heard of those before… aren't they magical creatures that are bound to sorcerers?"

Naruto crossed his arms over his chest as he turned to look over at Kurama in the corner of his eye, "That's kind of right. They are powerful magical companions that you form a pact with as long as certain conditions are met. But anyway, let's get back to our previous topic. You were saying something about sleeping in some old house ruins. I hope you don't mind me asking, but is it because of you're a demon?"

"T-That's right. I moved to the lower part of the Royal Capital over a year ago to find a living in a human city, which unfortunately is limited since my physical and magical abilities are those of an ordinary girl. I did find some decent work at an inn with a room I could sleep in, but one day the humans saw my horns and figured out I was a demon." Aletta explained as she recalled the horrible looks she got when the humans and her former boss found out what she was. "I ended up getting fired and have been struggling with finding any type of work, but most of what I find only last me a day at most. The money doesn't even help cover enough for food, let alone a proper place to sleep."

"Interesting… So that's your situation, huh?" Mako spoke up after listening to her story in silence for the most part, before turning around and walking towards the large fridge.

"Once again, I'm sorry! I'm really, truly sorry!" Aletta apologized one again to the two, only to see Naruto responding with an understanding smile.

Mako waved off the girl's concerns as he opened the fridge to see what was inside. "Don't be too concerned about it. I'm not to heartbroken about you eating the corn pottage, though it was something that my brother and I were going to eat for breakfast since we didn't eat much last night. Oh well, it doesn't matter, I'm so famished right now that I think it wouldn't have filled me up anyway. You said your name was Aletta, right?" The older man asked as he leaned back from the fridge with a large cabbage in hand.

"Ah, yes, sir."

"Well then, Aletta, would you like to join the three of us for breakfast before you leave?" Leaning back into the fridge, Mako grabbed a few eggs and uncooked bacon. "Naruto, my hands are getting full. Can you grab the rest of the vegetables and the butter?"

"Sure." Nodding his head, the blonde maneuvered around his brother to have access to the fridge and was quick to retrieve the requested items before closing the fridge door with his back as he faces Aletta, "You should stick around for a meal. Mako is probably only going to be making a staff meal, so we won't charge you anything for it. Besides, it'd be nice to have another face around to share good food with. It tastes a lot better in my opinion."

'Honestly,' Kurama silently thought to himself with a sigh. The Tailed Beast had a feeling it would turn out this way, since it was a common occurrence when someone new entered Nekoya. 'These two have such bleeding hearts. It's almost sickening… But, I can't say that I don't prefer this to that blasted Shinobi world.' And if he got his own decent portion, Kurama wasn't gonna complain.

Aletta was having a hard time finding the words to decline the two after what they said. Both men didn't seem to have any issues at all with her being there despite her lineage and were even happy to offer her a free breakfast alongside them. "I-If you both really don't mind, then I'll stay. And thank you very much."

"No problem at all. I should have it done in a minute." Mako replied while he and Naruto placed the ingredients on the table, before hitting the switch that turned on the lights in the kitchen. "While I work on this, however, why don't you show Aletta to the employee washroom so she can wash up."

"Wash up?" The lone female in the room repeated before bringing one of her hair bangs to her nose, a little worried she was giving off an odor or worst. "I don't smell bad, do I?"

"Don't worry, he doesn't mean anything bad by it. It's just a custom here to wash one's face and hands to refresh the body and mind, since it helps enjoy your meal better." Naruto explained with a laugh, remembering the times that his grandparents had driven all those rules and customs into his head. "Besides, I think you'll want to feel refreshed and have a stuffed belly when we offer you a job to work here."

"Yeah. I suppose that makes sense."

"… WAIT, WHAT?!"

A/N: And that marks the end of the first chapter. This story idea has been on my mind for a long time after seeing the Restaurant to Another World anime for the first time. I know it might not be a popular anime to have a crossover with, but I wanted to create it since it would be the first one ever, I think. Naruto traveled through the door of Western Restaurant Nekoya, found a family of his own and is on his way to becoming a talented chef recognized by both worlds. I apologize if it seemed that he wasn't at the forefront of this story, but that is just how this chapter went. I've had a few ideas on if there is going to be a pairing or not, and hopefully I come to a decision on how I want it to go as the story progresses. If any of you have suggestions, let me know and give a good reason why. I will say that if I follow through on making a pairing, that Princess Adelheid will NOT be one of the possible girls since I like her love story with Shareef.
