He feels a change in the atmosphere. As someone closely attuned to nature, he could identify these changes, easily.

So he walks purposely towards his house, into his room, where he finds two people.

He sees someone sleeping soundly in his bed, watched by a dear, old friend.

"What does a god need to visit at a strange hour, bringing an unfamiliar...guest?" He asks.

He watches as Gale, in his human wizard form, stroke the sleeping stranger's hair gently.

Gale smiles a little. "You were the only one I could think of. The only one he wouldn't think to look for and ask. Not right away, at least."

Halsin looks at the figure on the bed. While she looked different, something about her felt familiar. Like a song whose melody he knew, but whose words he had forgotten.

In the end, there was only one person it could be.

"It was time." Halsin answered. "I believed it would come. I will take care of things, from here. Living inthe middle of nowhere, helps, I think."

"Exactly." Gale replied. "And if she decides to be a druid once more, then who better to teach her?"

"Indeed. But why not turn her into a god like yourself? It would have permanently placed her outside his reach." He asked.

Gale thought for a long moment. Finally, he answered.

"I think part of me wanted her to choose me, just as I am. Or rather, just as I was. I want her to grow. And to make a conscious choice. And I know that with you, she would be taken care of and cherished. You love her, but you will allow her to grow freely, without expectations."

"I don't trust myself to be that generous." he added, quietly. "There's a greedy part of me that decided to do this, so I could take her from him. a part of me, I'm afraid, who understands all too well, why he did what he did."

Halsin sits beside Gale, and puts an arm around his shoulders.

"I understand", he says. "I don't think any of us approved. But what could we do? It was her choice. We would be no better if we took it from her, like he did, at the end. As her friend. As the ones who love her, the only thing we can do is watch over her, support her choices, and help her, when she asks."

Halsin looks at you, now recognizing you, despite your physical appearance. A steely glint settles in his gaze.

"But now that the choice has been made, it is our duty to defend it. To protect it."

"Thank you, old friend." Gale says quietly. As he disappears into fine mist.
