Author's note: It's been a bit of a rough week. First I was mentally too tired from work to write and a few days ago I became sick. Today I woke up with my shoulder hurting. Not a fun time health wise, which is also why I haven't been able to write much except for this thing. I'm hoping to finally have more updates ready next week, but in the meantime have the first part of this random idea I got.

Warnings: Sakura's pov; Alternate universe; supernatural; NOT FOR SAKURA FANS AT ALL; vampires; I mean it, not for Sakura fans at all!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. Kishimoto owns it.

I hope you'll like this random idea!

Part 1

There were two types of underworlds and the differentiation depended entirely on the sort of people inhabiting them. There was the seedy underworld, filled with all sorts of criminals: thieves, burglars, murderers … As gruesome as the deeds of those criminals could be, they were still human like the rest of the population. The same couldn't be said for the other type of underworld; the type only spoken about in hushed voices and wary whispers. The sort discussed in old books stuffed away in the deepest, dustiest corners of a shop or a library. The kind of world everyone avoided even more than the seedy criminal type.

Because the second type of underworld wasn't run by humans, but by monsters.

Not the figurative kind either. This underworld was one of chaos, of nightmares and horror. Creatures, the worst of the worst, derived straight from the deepest, darkest nightmares, populated this world and reigned over it in ways humans could only dream about. Most of the beings tended to keep to themselves, happy to simply await the moment a hapless human or another weaker creature showed up and came too close. Some didn't, though, forcing people living near those areas to be extremely careful when moving around in the dark.

Humans did their best to stay clear of those creatures – unless they needed something. Just because they were humans didn't mean they all preferred to stay out of the nightmarish underworld. Some were attracted to this world out of morbid interest, others had more – ulterior motives ranging from sexual ones to dark reasons, driven by greed, revenge, … Whatever the reason, there was always a supernatural creature that could fulfil this desire if somebody just looked long and hard enough. As much as this underworld repelled people, it also pulled them in and if one weren't careful, they could remain trapped there – whether because of dying or through another reason.

The same could be said for the regular seedy underworld, though, and that didn't stop people from embracing the criminal life either. The question was the same for both underworlds: how far was someone willing to go? Depending on the answer to that, a person could be swallowed up completely by the type of underworld they entered. Parents warned their children to stay away from both types, but naturally not every child heeded that warning.

Sakura was one of those children who had been cautioned by her parents time and again to never interact with any of the two underworlds, but certainly not the one populated by supernatural beings. Humans – criminal or not – were a known entity; supernatural creatures on the other hand weren't in spite of the efforts certain scientists went through in order to collect objective information.

Being the good, obedient daughter she was, Sakura had always listened to her parents – until love drove her to throw all caution in the wind after all.

For years she had been in love with the most handsome, charming, intelligent man in their village – if not the country or even the world! Uchiha Sasuke was his name and clearly beauty and charm ran in his family, given how beautiful the rest of his family members also was. One could even start to assume they weren't human precisely because of their sheer unnatural beauty, but they were fully human – yet still unobtainable. So many girls and even some boys had tried to gain Sasuke's attention, including Sakura multiple times, but he ignored each and every single one of them. At best they would get a polite "Not interested", at worst they would be subjected to Sasuke's caustic tongue.

Sakura had hoped that once they were adults and their studies were no longer a distraction, Sasuke might finally return her feelings, but no dice so far. No matter what she did, how she dressed, what she said, it never even elicited the slightest spark of interest in the love of her life. It was discouraging at times – okay, every time if she had to be honest; being rejected over and over again did do a serious number to her self-esteem – but she refused to give up on her love, no matter how often her family and friends insisted she should.

"It's been years, Billboard Brow," Ino sighed exasperatedly, sipping from her cocktail. The glittery eyeshadow she had chosen to wear tonight glittered like stars in the multicoloured lights of the club. "You really ought to cut your losses by now."

"Just because you've given up on him doesn't mean I will give up so easily," Sakura snipped, pursing her lips.

She had no idea why she had even agreed to go out with Ino tonight. Her friend had claimed she had needed the distraction after being rejected once again, but she didn't need to be distracted! She needed Sasuke to return her feelings and as far as she could see, he wasn't in the club to make such a scenario happen.

"Yes, and I found an amazing guy for myself," Ino retorted, clucking her tongue, not reacting to Sakura's snappish tone. "And you would be able to find somebody too if you would let yourself get over Sasuke-kun."

"The only man I need is Sasuke-kun; I don't need somebody else because there is nobody else that will match how amazing he is," Sakura said annoyed, tightening her grip around her glass. "I'm not going to settle for less!"

Not like you did was the unspoken thought Sakura swallowed just in time. Ino must have picked up on it, however, because blue eyes narrowed.

"Sakura, you got specifically hired at his family's company to try to get closer to him and you're still failing at that," she said sharply. "You're my best friend and I want you to be happy, but it's time to get your head out of your arse and give up on somebody who will obviously never love you back!"

With that, she abandoned her glass and pushed herself away from the bar, disappearing into the thrum of people dancing. Sakura scoffed, scowling at the empty glass Ino had left behind. What did she even know? She had given up on Sasuke years ago, which while that made things easier for Sakura because Ino definitely wasn't ugly, it also meant that she wasn't in any position to lecture Sakura about love. What could she lord over Sakura when she was the one who had given up so easily on her feelings for Sasuke, all because the latter had rejected her a couple of times? Her love could never have been that strong to start with if she had been willing to give up so quickly.

Why had Sakura even expected that Ino would help her out? For several years now she had been trying to convince Sakura to give up on Sasuke instead of helping her capture his attention in the right way. What Sakura needed was not a lecture, but advice or some kind of help that would finally have Sasuke actually seeing her instead of always looking through or past her. What she needed was a way to make –

"Hey, you keep that shit down!"

The bartender's snappish warning had Sakura looking up in surprise and she inhaled sharply in surprise when she realised he was addressing a female vampire. She didn't need to be any kind of scientist to know what kind of creature this woman was. Her slit pupils and the hint of her fangs protruding from underneath her upper lip gave her away, if her extraordinary beauty wasn't enough of a clue. When she smirked, she revealed even more of her pearly white sharp teeth.

Out of all the supernatural creatures lurking around in the world, vampires were the ones most likely to mingle around with humans. It made sense of course: humans were basically their food source, but as long as they didn't go mad and murder people, they were – tolerated wasn't even the right word, but they weren't instantly caught or killed on the spot at least. Mainly because humankind tended to have quite the fascination for the beautiful, immortal night creatures.

"My, my, already accusing me when I'm not doing anything," the vampire giggled, looking away from the man she had been talking to.

The second she looked away, the man seemed to wake up from a daze, shaking his head rapidly before he paled and rushed away from the bar.

"Humans have used drugs for centuries and you think we won't notice the kind of drug you wanted to use?" the bartender sneered. "You either behave and keep that allure shit to yourself or - "

"Or what?" she asked tauntingly.

He raised an eyebrow and pointed at a sign behind the bar which read, "Drugs, human or non-human, are prohibited in this establishment. When caught police will be called or special lights will flood the place". The 'special lights' mention was rather vague, but everybody knew it referred to the ultrabright lights most public buildings were equipped with nowadays. The light could rival the strength of the sun and was specifically designed to turn vampires to dust instantly.

The vampire glared at the bartender, her eyes flashing a dangerous red, but after a foul hissing, she slunk away, disappearing into the shadows.

Actually seeing a vampire with her own eyes for the first time was extraordinary, but Sakura was focused entirely on something else. The allure. Something every vampire could use and was the reason why so many humans were willing to accompany a vampire. The bartender had compared it to a drug and he might not be that far off with the description. The allure was apparently used to attract humans and keep them in a trance, obeying the vampire's every desire. Some scientists thought the victim still had some free will left, others firmly believed that anybody falling under the thrall would want nothing else but the vampire who used it on them. Most vampires used it to attract food sources apparently, but there had also been reports of vampires using it to bind the humans they had become interested in. How truthful those reports were, nobody was really certain because it wasn't as if vampires allowed strange people to actually study them.

If Sakura had the allure, she wouldn't have any trouble attracting Sasuke's attention, she was certain. As little as there was known about the vampire's allure, everybody agreed that it was incredibly powerful, stronger than any type of drugs humans could come up with. If she could use the allure, all she would have to do was look Sasuke in his eyes and then he would be completely hers.

For the first time in her life, she found herself morosely wishing that she was a vampire instead of a regular human being. As restricted as a vampire's diet was, they could still move around in society, were incredibly beautiful and powerful and could use their allure to attract whoever they wanted. If only she could do the same …

She barely remembered to text Ino that she was leaving before walking out of the club, clutching her jacket tightly around her while her heart pounded wildly, filling her ears with the loud pounding noise.

If only she had the allure …

It was stupid. It was dangerous. Life threatening even. Beyond idiotic. Every negative emotion you could think of and it applied to Sakura's situation currently.

She was taking an incredible risk, she acknowledged as she made her way along the winding road before slipping into a specific alley on her right. Tonight would either mark the beginning of her new life or it would end up with her dead. She hoped it wouldn't be the latter, but she couldn't let this opportunity slip through her fingers.

Nobody knew where she was. Far from a smart choice, but she couldn't allow anybody to know where she was going. If her parents knew, if any of her friends knew, they would first declare her insane and then might actually try to get her locked up. It was insane, what she wanted to do, she knew that very well. But what other options did she have? She had tried for so many years to gain Sasuke's attention and she had failed every single time. She had no idea anymore what else she could do. Changing her hairstyle hadn't done anything; wearing different clothes hadn't elicited even a second glance. Nothing she said, nothing she did, nothing she tried had ever led to the life she had been envisioning for years.

She could have that life soon, though. It only required a serious risk, her own life at stake, but she was willing to take that risk. Unlike Ino, she didn't give up so easily on love. How could she claim to love Sasuke if she would give up on him without trying everything to gain his attention? And she had tried everything – she had believed initially. But there was one thing left that she hadn't attempted yet. One thing that would actually lead to their love blossoming fully.

Sakura found her in the back of an abandoned factory, just like her source on the forum had told her. She breathed out quietly in relief at seeing the back of the woman, beyond happy that her source hadn't been joking around when he had given the information. It had taken her quite some time to find a reliable forum, let alone somebody willing to actually divulge trustworthy info, but persistence clearly did a lot.

The other woman turned around when Sakura walked closer; her red hair glistening in the moonlight pouring through the cracked roof. Equally red eyes glittered with interest and amusement when Sakura halted in front of her. The woman was dressed in a simple black tank top and a mini skirt and for all intents and purposes came cross human – save for the fangs peeking out when she smiled.

"Well, hello there, didn't expect food to show up tonight," she chuckled; her husky voice making Sakura's spine stiffen in response.

"Not food," Sakura rejected instantly, sounding braver than she felt. "I want to become one of you."

The vampire quirked an eyebrow, cocking her hip to the right while she crossed her arms underneath her generous bosom. "Now why would somebody like you want to become someone like me, hm?" she asked curiously.

"There's a man I - " Sakura began to explain, but the vampire snickered, slashing her hand through the air. Somewhere outside, an owl hooted almost anxiously.

"Of course there is," she purred and stalked closer to Sakura, circling around her.

Sakura kept her back ramrod straight, refusing to cower even with the subtle scent of blood clinging to the red haired woman.

"You humans always want two things only: immortality or another human," she murmured; her eyes fixated on Sakura as she slowly walked around her, like a lion stalking its prey. "Greed and selfishness, that's what you're made out of, every single one of you."

Sakura clenched her jaw, annoyance flickering up at being lectured by a goddamn vampire of all beings, but she forced herself to remain calm. The last thing she needed was to enervate the vampire in actually attacking her.

"I was told you could help me," she stated primly.

The red haired woman stopped walking, pausing right in front of her. "I can. The question is, are you sure you want to? Your whole life will change if you do this."

"That's exactly what I want," Sakura said decisively. "So are you going to help me or not?"

"You humans are so amusing," the vampire chuckled right before –

Her fangs flashed and buried themselves into Sakura's neck, tearing a shocked gasp out of her. At first there was a stinging sensation when those fangs pierced straight through her skin but it wasn't so awful. Right as Sakura started to wonder why some people on that forum had claimed that changing was a horrifying experience, a breathy chuckle reached her ears and –

Everything started to burn.

The change from human to vampire had been beyond horrific, beyond anything describable. One moment it had felt like Sakura had been set on fire, being burnt alive, the next moment she hadn't been able to breathe at all, gasping and choking as she desperately had grasped her throat. Then back to the fire, to tar filling her lungs and mouth and nose, more flames, more excruciating pain until she could no longer tell whether she was up or down, moving or immobile, dead or alive.

Waking up the day after never felt so refreshing before. Every sound, every scent, every sensation – it was all multiplied. She felt healthier, stronger, faster. She felt beautiful.

The red haired vampire hadn't stayed around, leaving Sakura to writhe around on the factor floor in agony. Sakura spent a moment feeling pissed about that. Shouldn't that damn vampire have stayed around to at least explain a couple of things? Sure, she had done her own research, but still!

Then her tongue flicked across the sharp tips of her newly formed fangs and a sudden burst of thirst had her staggering, barely catching herself on time against the wall. Her nails caught against the concrete and she watched wide-eyed how her nails left five deep gouges behind in the wall; pieces of concrete falling onto the ground.

She was so strong now.

She swallowed, but doing so felt like there were a thousand needles stabbing her throat and she grimaced, rubbing her throat. She would have to find something to eat first, something to quench the thirst but after that …

Her new fangs flashed in the weak daylight when she grinned excitedly. Her life with Sasuke was finally going to begin!

She had planned it out carefully. She kept her head down during her work, not wanting anybody to notice the change in her pupils. People – mostly men – still threw her more glances than usual, though, and that had her almost bursting with smugness when she realised they were staring because she was too beautiful. Turning into a vampire had been an agonising experience, but fuck if it didn't came with a lot of benefits!

The most important benefit, however, was –

Upon seeing Sasuke making his way to the elevator, finally ready to return home, she quickly snatched her purse from her desk and followed him, ready for another attempt at asking him out. This time, however, everything would be different because this time he would agree to go out with her. After all, how could he say no to her when she was like this?

"Sasuke-kun!" she called out sweetly, preparing to envelop him in her allure.

She had practiced with it during the previous weekend, needing to figure out how it worked and by the end of the weekend – and several dazed looking men – she felt confident in her newly acquired skill. She had hated wasting her allure on all those losers, but she had needed to make sure that it would work on the one she actually wanted.

"Hm?" Sasuke turned around, regarding her mildly. "You're still here?"

"Had to stay longer to finish a project," she replied flippantly and looked him fully in the eyes, releasing her allure in one concentrated blast.

It enveloped Sasuke perfectly, making him blink; his eyes gaining a distant sheen.

Yes, success!

"Say, Sasuke-kun, I was wondering if you're interested in going out for diner with me tonight?" she smiled flirtingly, leaning forwards.

He opened his mouth and she held her breath, almost delirious now that she was this close to finally getting her love to respond to her. It had been a horrifying ordeal, changing into a vampire, but tonight it would prove to be worth it when Sasuke would agree to –

"Not interested, sorry."

Like a bucket of ice cold water had been thrown over her. Sakura stood there frozen, watching Sasuke turn around again, dismissing her easily as he entered the elevator without even looking back once.

Rejecting her once more as if she hadn't enveloped him completely in her allure, as if she hadn't used all the power behind that blast of allure to attract him to her. A vampire's allure never failed. Never.

So why had it failed now?

AN2: So any interest in the second part? Any guesses why her allure isn't working? :) The next part will definitely NOT BE FOR SAKURA FANS, let's be clear about that.

Please leave your thoughts behind in a review; should you spot any mistakes, please point them out to me.

I hope to see you all back in the next chapter! Please stay safe and take care of yourselves!
