A Midsummer Night's Nightmare:
One day, in Orlando, Florida...
Diana as Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor, and Etta Ranch are in Etta's light green lined silver car. Etta Ranch is wearing a dark blue formal uniform and sunglasses.
Etta is driving her car. Wonder Woman and Steve are sitting in the back seats and holding hands.
With a smirk... Wonder Woman checks, "so... Steve... Are you ready for this mission?"
Steve lightly insists, "come on. It'll be easy as pie. It's play testing a video game. Besides... I'm happy to fight by your side any day, angel."
Wonder Woman says, "aw. Thank you, Steve." Steve adds, "you're welcome."
Steve brings up, "but... There's one thing I still don't get. Why would Maxwell Lord greenlight a video game around you? Doesn't he hate your guts?"
Wonder Woman thinks out loud, "Chimtech's video game branch Chimtech Go has been struggling to make good games. I know that because Donna Troy likes to play video games and to tell me news on video games. Sometimes we play video games together."
With Etta still looking at the road ahead of her while driving? She briefly and slightly turns to face both of them.
Etta elaborates, "well... Faint chuckle. Here's something Donna Troy might not know about. Chimtech Go was about to release the first video game in a video game series with a Superman rip-off called Maxi-Man. But... The introduction cutscene was leaked online. It was going to have a reality TV show setting with superpower gifts only going to wealthy people. God! Heavy sigh. Chimtech Go needs better characters in their games, or they will go down."
Steve goes, "ouch."
Wonder Woman remarks, "damn. Talk about maximum fail to see what most people want in a superhero story."
With a bittersweet smile... Etta elaborates, "exactly. And... On top of that? The worldwide success of Aphrodite's and The Muses of Nine's song We All Have It In Us To Love has led to a massive shift for companies to make more progressive movies, TV shows, action figures, and video games. We may not be fans of Chimtech or Maxwell Lord. But... If anyone can put out a good video game? It's you, Diana."
On the last part? Steve smirks wide.
With a wide smirk... Wonder Woman says, "thank you, Etta. It would be great if my own video game works out."
Etta figures, "yes. I may be here on a Cadmus mission to gather intel on any evil plans Maxwell Lord has. But, I hope your video game works out too."
Soon... They arrive at Chimtech Go's video game studio.
It has column styled pale green metal walls. The front entrance has above it a CD player styled mostly neon light blue billboard with "Chimtech Go!" written in paint dripping styled gold letters.
Wonder Woman and Steve get out of the car.
They head to the entrance. Maxwell Lord is there.
With a smile... Maxwell Lord greets, "Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor! Welcome to Chimtech Go. You have no idea how much I'm delighted you could come play test our latest video game."
Wonder Woman points out, "actually... You don't have to tell us. Laugh. We know already."
Maxwell Lord just annoyedly glares. Steve laughs.
Steve and Wonder Woman walk into the video game studio. Etta is already sneaking to the back of the video game studio.
Steve and Wonder Woman head down some dark red to light red hallways. They pass by gold rimmed Atramentum A.I. pictures of Chimtech Go's video games: From Justice League Ops: The Video Game to MultiVersus.
Steve and Wonder Woman head into the video game testing room.
Right in front of the room... There is a Atramentum A.I. picture of Wonder Woman in her spiritwear catching a falling roller coaster in midair to save plenty of people in the roller coaster.
She is also gliding down the people in the roller coaster to safety.
Steve and Wonder Woman put on some Chimtech VR headsets. They're mostly gold with red scuba styled VR visors.
Etta uses a mostly dark blue device with wires and a scanner to quickly decode the security code on the keypad for the door to the control room.
She gets into the security room...to find no one there.
Etta says, "hmm. This seems too easy."
A familiar voice taunts, "you have no idea yet how right you are."
Etta gasps. She looks wide eyed in shock.
Before she can react... A god lightning blast or goddess lightning blast is fired at her.
Etta falls unconscious.
In a certain VR game, back with Wonder Woman and Steve...
Wonder Woman and Steve are playing as Amazons on Themiscrya. They're fighting lion-scorpion hybrids and gargoyle-cheetah hybrids with blue spirit energy blades.
They're taking down most of them...when they heard a familiar voice.
Video game Circe darkly states, "like the wind? The wild can never be tamed. We just get colder, impatient, and more dangerous. You should have destroyed me when you had the chance, Wonder Woman."
Goddess wind gusts are pulling Wonder Woman and Steve toward her growing bigger goddess claws.
Wonder Woman tries to get her golden lasso around video game Circe.
But... She suddenly finds her and Steve's arms and legs frozen.
Getting teary eyed... Wonder Woman realizes, "you're not Circe! ~ By the gods... What is going on?! Hard sniffle. Get me out of here!"
She and Steve quickly take off the VR helmets.
But... They find themselves in separate cells of glass in the testing room.
Goddess Cheetah remarks, "oh, there's going to be a game around you. Hard laugh. You just aren't going to like the twist ending. A slash of revenge never felt so good!"
She, Amphitrite, and Silver Banshee darkly grin. They all have appeared in front of Wonder Woman and Steve.
Wonder Woman angrily uses her spirit energy blade to break through the glass of her cell.
Steve Trevor angrily fires some laser fast fire from his light gun pointer to crack the glass in his cell. He charge jump tumbles through the weakened glass.
But... Silver Banshee fires sonic screams from her mouth...and surprisingly from her hands.
Wonder Woman and Steve are clutching their heads and crying out in mental overload. Etta's unconscious body is seen by a left open door to the control room.
Silver Banshee cruelly taunts, "ohh. Poor babies. My new friend Cheetah gave me goddess powers. Hard laugh. And, you didn't see it coming that Maxwell Lord wasn't really here today. It was me, wonder girly."
Steve is falling unconscious.
Wonder Woman's ears are ringing like mad. But, she is still conscious.
Wonder Woman figures, "there were never really plans from Chimtech for a Wonder Woman video game. Were there?"
Amphitrite reveals, "oh, there were plans from Chimtech for a video game around you. But... Me and my new friends sunk them...to the bottom of the ocean of your betrayal! !"
Wonder Woman tensely brings up, "I tried to talk you out of doing the wrong thing. But, you were still trying to bring back Poseidon along with the dangers of undoing his last wish for no Rhinegold to exist! I did what I had to to save the world and...! !"
Amphitrite mutters, "Poseidon is a better god than you think! ! You really didn't think I'd get back at you for ruining my plans to bring back Poseidon? Now you're going to see what it's like to have your life and everyone you care for all washed away! !"
Wonder Woman calls out, "no. I didn't wash my life away. You did it to yourself! !"
Getting teary eyed... Amphitrite cries out, "enough! ! !"
She fires several water blasts at Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman jump flips and side steps past the incoming water blasts.
Goddess Silver Banshee goes, "not this time, girlie! !"
She and goddess Cheetah angrily charge at Wonder Woman with goddess blades.
Wonder Woman uses her golden lasso and her spirit energy blade to try to deflect all the slashes from their goddess blades.
But... Amphitrite makes a geyser appear under Wonder Woman's feet by surprise.
Wonder Woman is sent flying hard against the ceiling.
She cries out, "no! ! !"
She crash lands to the floor along with raining down debris. She falls unconscious.
A mortal hour later, in a pocket dimension...
Wonder Woman, Steve, and Etta are waking up. They're slowly getting to their feet.
Wonder Woman wonders, "Etta? Steve? Where are we?"
Etta observes, "it looks like we're out...in the woods."
It's night out here. They see castle towers, trees with wailing ghost women, and ghost cows and horses.
Steve and Wonder Woman ask in concern, "what's wrong?"
Etta recalls, "castle towers, trees with ghost women... It all reminds me of a play titled Into the Woods."
Wonder Woman somewhat awkward checks, "ok...ay. Did this play have a happy ending?"
Etta gulps nervously.
Etta asks, "have you heard the phrase "but the rest of them lived happily ever after"?"
Wonder Woman reflects, "yeah: In a Broadway play of Peter Pan. And, it wasn't very encouraging then either."
Steve adds, "yeah. I agree."
Suddenly... They hear sonic screams, water waves, and lion roars coming closer.
Etta apologizes, "I'm sorry. I can better explain later...when we're not running for our lives!"
Wonder Woman realizes, "yeah. Point taken. Let's go! !"
The three of them break into a run.
Around then...
Circe asks in concern, "you sure we not fighting Wonder Woman? Me and Devastator Woman best friends with her. We do not want to hurt her."
Devastator Woman solemnly adds, "yeah."
Amphitrite blatantly lies, "don't worry, girls. The Wonder Woman, Steve, and Etta you'll see are just actors."
Steve told Circe they should stop the Sirens from bringing back Poseidon. Steve and Wonder Woman didn't tell Circe the Sirens were part of Amphitrite's plan to bring back Poseidon.
With a devious grin... Amphitrite continues, "you'll get a whole new kind of play date you'll never forget. It'll be fun. You were almost villains of Wonder Woman once upon a time. Now you'll get to play fight as villains on camera for my latest movie."
Circe and Devastator Woman cluelessly smile. They and Amphitrite are standing by some trees in the woods.
Amphitrite states, "after the very mixed reception for my movie Aquaman and Wonder Woman... I decided to start over and make a movie around the Wonder Woman we know from our world. It is going to be condensing the first year of her adventures into a epic tale: Ending with Wonder Woman fighting Aresia in her castle tower in these woods to rescue her mother Hippolyta."
Devastator Woman all too lightly goes, "ooh! I like a good fight." Circe all too lightly adds, "me too!"
Amphitrite laughs hard some.
Amphitrite continues, "good. You girls will love your first acting gigs. This power play... Oh! I'm sorry. I mean movie."
Devastator Woman concludes, "oh good! But... Amphy... What is condensing?"
Amphitrite frustratedly sighs into her hand.
Circe cluelessly reflects, "you sure we not in condensation land, Amphitrite? You look like you sweating a lot."
Amphitrite quickly looks up. She annoyedly glares.
Amphitrite remarks, "oh, for crying out... I'm made of watery spirit! I never sweat."
Circe makes a nervous face. She adds, "we sorry."
With a slight smile... Amphitrite just says, "it's okay."
Devastator Woman somewhat nervously concludes, "but... Lots of water drops. You sure you not need more water?"
Amphitrite irritatedly insists, "forget the water drops! !"
She heavily sighs. Devastator Woman tries hard not to laugh.
Amphitrite plans out, "please girls... Focus on your acting! When I call for you? Go and play fight with my Wonder Woman actor in the coming movie scene. Okay?"
Circe and Devastator Woman are quick to nod. They both say yes.
Amphitrite makes a thumbs up gesture to Goddess Cheetah and Goddess Silver Banshee. The three of them laugh all too lightly to themselves.
Not long after...
Amphitrite Goddess Silver Banshee fire sonic screams and goddess water blasts at Wonder Woman, Steve, and Etta. Goddess Cheetah sends lions with thorns all over after Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman, Steve, and Etta run past the sonic screams and goddess water blasts.
But... One of the thorned lions tackles Steve.
Steve is holding his light gun pointer in both arms to shield himself from some thorns. The thorned lion is trying to bite at him.
Steve calls out, "Diana? I can't hold him off for long! !"
Wonder Woman roars back at the thorned lions. But, they don't back down.
Wonder Woman frustratedly sighs.
She uses her golden lasso to hurl one of the thorned lion into the other like a pinball.
The thorned lions crash land into a nearby lake. They start to fight each other instead.
Goddess Cheetah taunts, "that lasso always bugged me. Well, wonder girl... Laugh. Let's bring the bigger bugs out to play."
She has appear a swarm of tree sized cheetah bees. They're firing a storm of jet black thorns from their wings. Their super strong cheetah tails are hurling the spiraling thorns faster at Etta and Wonder Woman.
Etta murmurs in shock, "oh...my god! !"
Etta barely jumps out of the way of several thorns in a row. Steve helps her back to her feet.
Wonder Woman tries to hold off several incoming thorns with her Amazon wristbands and her dark blue spirit energy blade.
But... Two of the thorns hit her.
She is groaning hard. She is clutching her side.
Wonder Woman realizes, "we can't take them all out here. Hard groan. Go! ! Go! !"
She, Etta, and Steve run further into the woods. Amphitrite, Goddess Cheetah, and Goddess Silver Banshee laugh hard.
Wonder Woman throws her tiara at several of Amphitrite's incoming watery bolas to deflect them into some incoming thorns. Wonder Woman catches her tiara.
Wonder Woman, Etta, and Steve get to a villain themed amusement park.
There's a castle tower with a sign that says "Silver Banshee's Tower of Terror" in lightning bolt like silver letters. There's a cave styled funhouse with a thunderstorm styled sign that says "Poseidon's House of Waterfalls" in watery letters. There's Amphitrite's Log Ride with a sign in watery letters.
There's a mostly very dark green restaurant with cheetah and bear statues all over the place. The sign for the restaurant says "Goddess Cheetah's Jungle Grill" in green lined black letters. The sign also shows Goddess Cheetah slashing flaming claws at piles of mostly thick gray meat.
There's the mostly red and light green Ares's Beanstalks and Axes Roller Coaster. Several giants with Ares styled battle wear, giant red axes, and big tempers stand around the ride looking for a fight.
There's a battle arena styled bakery and gift shop with a sign that says "Aresia's Cauldron" in red and yellow ribboned letters. The sign also shows Aresia dressed as Little Red Riding Hood while mixing a potion in a cauldron.
Steve mutters, "you got to be kidding me!"
Wonder Woman states, "sadly no, Steve. I wish I was. Come on!"
She leads Steve and Etta into Aresia's Cauldron. She takes eight honey scented bath bombs hanging over a wall.
With a slight grin... Wonder Woman plans out, "you two hide here. I know how to stop these bees."
Steve nods.
Etta figures, "I hope you're right, Diana. Those bees are super nasty."
Wonder Woman interestingly heads for the roller coaster.
Wonder Woman taunts, "hey Cheetah! It's me you and your bees want. Right? Come and get me! !"
With a dark grin... Goddess Cheetah sends the swarm of cheetah bees after her.
And... Wonder Woman throws the bath bombs at the feet of the confused giants.
The giants and the cheetah bees are soon fighting each other.
Wonder Woman quickly throws some levers by the roller coaster.
Goddess Cheetah is angrily charging at her.
But... The roller coaster speeds off the tracks and crashes into Goddess Cheetah.
Goddess Cheetah groans hard. Her image fluctuates.
She quickly regenerates. But, Wonder Woman is already out of sight.
Goddess Cheetah angrily chirrs and roars.
Soon... Goddess Cheetah, Goddess Silver Banshee, and Amphitrite are flying around the amusement park to look for Steve and Etta.
By then... Wonder Woman is back in Aresia's Cauldron.
Wonder Woman tells Etta and Steve she successfully took care of the cheetah bees.
Etta suggests, "I'm glad that part is over. And... I had a few minutes to bring out a tool of my own. Cadmus doesn't even know I put it together. Faint chuckle. I hid it in the last place a crazy goddess would look."
She shows a spirit energy silver made lasso to Wonder Woman.
Etta has been wearing a light blue undershirt. Her Cadmus business suit is on the floor all torn up.
Wonder Woman somewhat lightly figures, "that's amazing! Great job, Etta."
Etta says, "thank you, Diana." Wonder Woman adds, "you're welcome."
The three of them smile wide.
Steve kind of lightly remarks, "hey! What about me? Don't I get a cool toy?"
Sounding amused... Wonder Woman observes, "all right. You can borrow my spirit energy blade. It can also fire spirit energy arrows."
Wonder Woman hands him her spirit energy blade gauntlet.
Steve goes, "thanks!"
Wonder Woman concludes, 'now... We just need a good place to make our stand."
Steve suggests sneaking up on the three goddesses from high up the beanstalks in Ares's Beanstalks and Axes Roller Coaster. Etta suggests going to Poseidon's House Of Waterfalls to get Amphitrite easily distracted with her own reflection. Wonder Woman goes with Etta's idea.
Wonder Woman leads Steve and Etta to Poseidon's House of Waterfalls. Goddess Cheetah and her two goddess friends are soon fly charging after them.
Goddess Cheetah taunts, "newsflash, Amazon princess. Me and Silver Banshee made this land for our playground of the fittest. You and your two human friends can't defeat all of us. What are you going to do? Throw a magic mirror at us and hope we all go away?" Wonder Woman kind of cryptically says, "not exactly."
Amphitrite pauses at a waterfall to admire Poseidon's reflection.
Just then... Etta gets her spirit energy silver lasso around Amphitrite.
She hurls Amphitrite hard...right through a watery wall of her own design.
Wonder Woman and Goddess Cheetah are wrestling over Wonder Woman's goddess lasso and exchanging fists.
Steve is firing spirit energy arrows at Goddess Silver Banshee. Goddess Silver Banshee fires sonic screams. But, they both keep dodging.
Amphitrite groans hard. She is falling unconscious.
But... In that mortal second... She calls out, "Circe... It's show time!"
Etta mutters, "what the hell?!" Wonder Woman mutters, "what in Hades...?!"
Devastator Woman all too lightly sings, "destruction, destruction everywhere! Not a drop missed. Water in the ground, water in the sky..."
She and Circe fire goddess wind gusts and goddess water blasts down upon Wonder Woman, Steve, and Etta. All three of them crash land to the ground.
They're groaning hard and coughing hard. They're barely getting up.
Silver Banshee declares, "scream all you want. Hard laugh! Not even Superman is going to hear you and your little friends scream! !"
She fires sonic blasts at Wonder Woman. She dives into a waterfall for cover.
Goddess Cheetah darkly remarks, "well, mister... Aren't you so brave? "Too bad" you're all cold water and got no brains! !"
She fires goddess water blasts right at Steve's head. He's struggling to breathe.
Teary eyed... Etta cries out, "no! ! !"
Etta angrily tackles Goddess Cheetah with her spirit energy silver lasso around her hands. Steve is coughing up a lot of cold water while catching himself from falling with both of his arms.
And... Etta is knocked unconscious from behind by Goddess Silver Banshee.
Teary eyed... Wonder Woman cries out, "Etta! ! ! No! ! !"
Circe is goddess restoring Amphitrite with a wave of her goddess hands. Devastator Woman fires goddess lightning at Wonder Woman.
With no time to reach both Steve and Etta? Wonder Woman carries Steve's body out of Poseidon's House of Waterfalls.
She can hear all five goddesses laughing. Tears are falling from her face.
Wonder Woman leaves her silver energy blade gauntlet in the activated log ride in Amphitrite's Log Ride to lead Amphitrite and her goddess friends on a wild goose chase.
Wonder Woman and Steve go into the big elevator in Silver Banshee's Tower of Terror. They're taking it up to the top floor.
They're sitting on the elevator floor. They solemnly look at each other.
Wonder Woman confesses, "Steve Trevor... Hard sniffle. I thought I could always save my Earth. I led a league of Wonder Women to save all universes from Chaos. But... Hard sniffle. How can we still be heroes if we can't even get Devastator Woman to stand down or listen?! I've always been able to talk her down. I've always been...! !"
She starts to break down crying. Steve hugs her tight.
Teary eyed... Steve reflects, "Diana... Listen to me. Hard sniffle. If you stop believing most anyone can be a hero... Then you turn your back on yourself: Because you are one of the greatest heroes I know."
With a faint smirk... Wonder Woman kind of lightly challenges, "only one of them?"
Steve reasons, "you've proven time and time again some villains can change for the better. I've been a big fan of Superman and Black Canary since I was five."
Wonder Woman adds, "nice. I didn't know you like Black Canary."
Steve concludes, "thank you. I still like her. But... The truth is I'd much rather be dating you, Diana."
Wonder Woman lightly goes, "aw! That is so sweet."
With a smile... Steve tries to assure, "you're welcome angel. And... We may not even be really fighting Circe and Devastator Woman."
Wonder Woman realizes, "that is very true. I have fought Doctor Psycho and gods before. That means there's still hope to bring back Etta Ranch. I... Heavy sigh. I needed to not lose sight of that. Thank you."
Steve adds, "you're welcome."
The teariness in both of their eyes starts to dry up.
Wonder Woman wonders, "Steve? I'm curious. Do you have any theories of who we're really fighting?"
With some mixed feelings... Steve supposes, "I have one. If Ares can sneak in and out of Tartarus without being seen by Zeus? He could have broken out Hades and Persephone and given them their full powers back in exchange for trying to take us out."
Wonder Woman figures, "wow. I... I didn't even think of that. You could be right. And... My golden lasso is the best way to tell for sure if they're Hades and Persephone."
Steve confirms, "that sounds like a plan. Are you ready to go back into the fight, Diana?"
With a wide smirk... Wonder Woman sarcastically comments, "just try and stop me."
Steve chuckles. They pull away some.
The elevator reaches the top of the tower. The elevator door opens.
And... Aphrodite and Harbinger are both standing on the top.
Harbinger divulges, "there is more going on. Circe and Devastator Woman were tricked into fighting you by Amphitrite. She told them they could get new fun by acting as villains for her newest movie that'll never come. I got Aphrodite to come help fix this really awkward mess for you. Amphitrite would never do that."
Steve and Wonder Woman awkwardly smile at that.
Wonder Woman says, "I believe you both. Thank you so much for coming."
She hugs Harbinger and Aphrodite close. They hug her back.
With wide smiles... Aphrodite and Harbinger say, "you're welcome."
Aphrodite offers, "we're in goddess minutes now. How would you like to fix this?"
Wonder Woman tells Aphrodite to wait a minute. Wonder Woman and Steve talk some.
With a wide grin... Wonder Woman suggests, "well... How about taking a page out of A Midsummer Night's Dream?"
Aphrodite goes, "ohh, that's a wonderful idea! It's done."
Goddess Silver Banshee, Goddess Cheetah, and Amphitrite are about to angrily charge for Wonder Woman and Steve.
But... With a goddess thought?
Aphrodite reality warps the whole dimension. Everyone except her and Harbinger are falling asleep.
Aphrodite curses Goddess Cheetah, Goddess Silver Banshee, and Amphitrite with being reduced to mortal hybrids and left stranded in their own dimension.
The next day, in Etta Ranch's house...
Devastator Woman and Circe wake up on Etta's couch. Steve, Wonder Woman as Diana, a now conscious Etta, Harbinger, and Aphrodite are gathered around them.
They tell Devastator Woman and Circe that their fight last night was all just a weird acting dream.
Everyone bittersweetly smiles.
Then... Diana admits to Devastator Woman and Circe, "however... Your dream reminds me of something important to tell you both. I wasn't sure you'd be ready to know the whole truth about Amphitrite. But... In light of your weird dream? Moderate sigh. I think you're ready now to know."
Diana is finally telling them Amphitrite's full plan to bring back Poseidon from New Atlantis.
And... In a cutaway?
Some computers at the headquarters for Wayne Enterprises show a Wonder Woman video game in development: With some video game test footage of Wonder Woman's and Steve's first fight with Aresia.
