If you see the first and the following chapters changed or new ones added, it's because I edited them. There won't be many changes, except that I noticed there were parts where I was rushing or not delving deeply into several aspects.

VOL 1 CHAP 1: From the Ashes Life Arises
Have you ever tried to piece together a broken piece of glass?
Even if the pieces fit, you can't put it back the way it was.
But if you're smart, you can still use the pieces to create other useful things. Maybe something wonderful, like a mosaic.
Well, the world broke like glass and everyone is trying to rebuild it as it was, but it will never fit together the same way again.

To the south of Capital Wasteland, where Washington D.C. once was, where there used to be the buildings of a great nation, only the echoes of a forgotten past remained. There was a wastelander with a metal-armored dog. The journey had taken two days, but he had finally arrived at the Citadel. He had received a message from the Brotherhood during an outing to Canterbury Commons that asked him to come, and you cannot refuse the Brotherhood. While the wastelander, clad in light green combat armor with a gas mask covering his face and a hood of the same color to provide shade, moved through the ruins of D.C., he remained alert to anything, be it human or mutant; if they responded with violence, he would give it back.
He would stop abruptly upon hearing a gunshot along with the warning growl of Meatball and would take cover behind a dead tree while the dog distracted the sniper. He focused his gaze on the hole that the .308 bullet caused and, following the trajectory, found the source. Someone was behind a window with a sniper rifle. Drawing his own sniper rifle, dubbed "Victory's Rifle" due to its faded American flag paint job, he aimed at the window and, holding his breath, saw the man in red mercenary clothing getting ready to shoot. But the wastelander shot first, hitting him in the neck. The man clutched his wound, trying to stop the bleeding, but he would slip and fall to the ground, landing on a mine that would explode shortly after.
The wastelander stayed in position for a second. However, the calm would dissipate when he saw a group of four men heading toward his position, shooting. The wastelander swapped his Victory's Rifle for a black assault rifle with the Chinese flag on the stock and some white words written on the side that said Xualong or "Black Dragon," along with a wider magazine and another strapped for quicker reloading; he started shooting back with precision. The group split up to avoid the 5.56 rounds from his weapon, hitting one in the leg and riddling him with bullets right there before reloading. One of them with an assault rifle started shooting while another threw a grenade. The wastelander only saw the grenade.
Inhale and Exhale.
He felt the chemical compounds entering his body as he activated VATS (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) and aimed at the grenade, exploding it in mid-air while knocking the three armed men to the ground. He switched back to Victory's Rifle and finished off the first with a shot to the head, the second in the chest, and the last attempted to flee, but the dog would bite his leg, preventing his escape, and the wastelander finished him with a shot to the head.
Once secure, he emerged from his hiding spot with his dog, which would release the lifeless body of the man, and went to the bodies to take the ammunition he needed for Xualong and headed to the base of his sniper attacker, which was surrounded by military-grade explosive mines and traps hidden with concrete pieces and wires connected to grenades that he disarmed, taking some grenades and mines for safety.
In the base, he saw that it was a drug lab of a dealer; the lifeless body next to the wall was an indicator. Next to him, there were several safes containing bottle caps and ammunition for other weapons he had and did not have. He took everything he could, from Med-X, Mentats, Psycho, and Jet to trade later. Before leaving, he checked the table where there was a chemistry set, where there was a reward sheet with a knife stabbed into it.

Wanted
Albert Johnson "The Lone Wanderer"
19 years
Caucasian male with light brown hair in a pompadour cut, eyes of the same color, and two scars on his face from a cut on his temple presumably from surgery and a cut on his left cheek down to his neck.
Wears Reilly's Rangers combat armor with a gas mask and a green hood.
He is presumed to be traveling with a Siberian Husky with one blue eye and another brown, wearing metal armor.
(There was a well-done drawing of his face beneath the mask along with one of his dog).
Reward for his head 5000 bottle caps.
The wastelander took the wanted paper to look for them later. Once secure, he continued moving, seeing in the distance the Citadel that used to be the Pentagon offices. He would pass by some paladins who greeted him; he simply nodded in response until he reached the main door, passed by the guards, and entered inside.
Inside the Citadel, where the courtyard was now the training area, he greeted one of the paladins who was training recruits.
He headed to Circle A, where he entered to go to the council where they were waiting for him. Before entering, he removed his hood and mask out of respect and entered where they were, including Sarah Lyons, the new Elder since Elder Lyons passed away not two months prior due to age, along with the Elder council.
"Paladin Johnson, it is a pleasure that you have finally arrived," spoke one of the elders in a red robe.
"I tried to arrive early, but I had an encounter with mercenaries," the wastelander spoke as he took a seat.
"And to think that simply ending the Talon Company would be enough," said an elder with a long white beard.
"Now that we are here, we can begin," Sarah said, making the chatter cease and everyone sit down. "In our reports, we have received some not-so-good news." Everyone opened the folder in front of them to inspect the information.
"Yesterday, a group of training recruits reported seeing several Vertibirds from the Enclave flying south. They followed them to an old building called Dunwich, and they managed to hear that they were studying 'mystical arts.'" The wastelander saw how some elders rolled their eyes at what was said. And he wouldn't blame them; the last time he was there involved that book. "You may not believe that part, but we know something is being plotted there. Paladin Johnson, I want you and your Corsairs to investigate and capture the scientists to extract more information, look for anything of interest, and if the soldiers attack, you have authorization to eliminate. If you complete it, send a message via your Pip-Boy."
"Alright," said the wastelander, already knowing the location of his old group. "I'll leave tomorrow; I just need to resupply."
"Request accepted," said an elder. "Paladin Johnson will depart at dawn. You may be dismissed."
The wastelander nodded and would stand up from the seat to go to the locker room to change his armor and take a shower.
After five minutes, he would come out to see himself in a somewhat broken mirror, but enough to see his face and... he didn't recognize himself. His face was tanned from the explorations, but he had large dark circles under his eyes from nights without sleep, maximizing three hours, whether from his watch shifts or the dreams. His hair was unkempt along with a beard similar to his father's, and his two scars marked on his face: One caused by a Ripper and the other from his lobotomy in Point Lookout. If his self from Vault 101 saw him, he would be scared of him. He also noticed the scars on his body from: bullets, cuts, bites from wild animals, burns of all kinds, and he could feel the mark of the slasher's claws on his back.
The wastelander took a knife along with some soap to start shaving. With a clean face, he put on gray military pants and a light green shirt. Before going to bed, he went to the dining room to eat something; he had dinner with only noodles with Brahmin meat, Tatos, and purified water.
He took his things to the armory to have them maintained for his weapons and armor.
With a full stomach, he stayed by a window to look at the wasteland. He took out a pack of cigarettes and lit one to smoke a bit. He hated this habit, but after so many things, he sometimes needed it; usually, he only smokes two to feel relaxed.
"Feeling tense?" The wastelander turned to see Sarah without her power armor and wearing Elder's clothes.
"I needed a break; it's hard for me to feel safe anywhere," he replied.
"I understand; do you have another?" She handed him her pack so that she could take one along with the bullet-shaped lighter inside the box to light it. "The wasteland is changing; agriculture is flourishing along with wildlife, and settlements are growing. I heard that Megaton and Vault 101 have joined." While handing the pack back to the wastelander.
"Yeah, I heard that." The wastelander heard that as he stored the pack, hoping things went well for them; he wasn't that interested in seeing his ex-friend Amata since the dispute they had during the rebellion in the vault.
While they smoked in silence, they looked at the night in the wasteland until finishing their cigarette. He was going to leave, but Sarah placed her hand on his shoulder. "When you finish this, stay here. The recruits are interested in hearing the legendary Lone Wanderer and maybe... trying to have a quiet dinner with me."
The wastelander looked at her and let out a tired sigh; he admitted he liked the idea, but something held him back. "I wish I could, Sarah, but I can't. I feel insecure, even being here in the safest place in the wasteland," he said to leave her alone and go to sleep. While Sarah just looked on tired from dealing with him.

Before departing, he put on his Reilly's Rangers armor along with the helmet and hood that were clean and arranged, in addition to adding a reinforced leather jacket as a second layer which consisted of the Tunnel Snakes jacket with one sleeveless and with shoulder pads and a forged metal bracelet from the Pit along with belts and pockets from his vault suit with some jeans and a dirty white shirt. He went to his personal locker to know what weapons to take and store in his Pip-Boy connected to the backpack he had. He took a combat shotgun, Victory's Rifle, his Xualong assault rifle, his old slightly scratched .10 pistol, with a silencer, the Ripper Jack: a gray Ripper that was tougher than a normal Ripper, binoculars, a hunting knife, a few fragmentation grenades, and mines along with medicine and supplies. Once ready, he would put them in his backpack to look for his comrades.
[-]
Albert arrived at Rivet City to enter the Timid Bar where he saw the first comrade talking to some people. Butch Deloria was still wearing his leather jacket, but he had added some upgrades, like a belt of ammunition on his hips and legs and shoulder pads from leather armor.
"Butch," the wastelander spoke to his old friend.
Butch turned to see who it was and would be excited to see him. "Hey, hey! If it isn't the hero of the wasteland. Give this boy a Belle beer, Belle."
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," Belle said annoyed while serving a beer at the bar. The wastelander took it and lifted his mask a bit to take a sip and left it on the table.
"So, what's new?" He asked while taking his own beer.
"Surviving," said the wastelander; Butch chuckled a bit. "Are you free, buddy, for a trip to the wasteland?"
"You know I am, buddy," he said.
"Alright, get ready because the Brotherhood asked us to visit an old friend." He nodded to finish his drink in one go and went to his room. After five minutes, he had a backpack ready with an SMG on his hip, his knife, and an assault rifle.
"Ready to go?" He said adjusting his backpack. The wastelander and he left to look for the rest.
They recruited Harkness in the same place, Charon, Sydney, Fawkes in the Underworld, Sergeant RL-3, Cross in the Citadel, Jericho, along with Clover in Megaton.
[-]
Albert saw the Dunwich building which was surrounded by several Enclave soldiers monitoring the surroundings. He felt chills returning there. He hated that place with all his being.
"How many do you count?" Sydney asked on the ground with his reservist rifle.
"I count a total of ten along with three turrets, five in the front and another five in the back. I don't know how many are inside, but the stealth option is off the table," said the wastelander.
"Kid, with your experience, what can you tell us about that building?" Jericho asked impatiently, eager to fire his weapon.
"In a nutshell, it's not normal in there. There's some sort of ghost in there."
"Ghosts don't exist," Harkness said as he inspected his weapon.
"What's the plan?" Cross asked doing the same thing.
After checking, they would descend the hill to see the group. The Gears were one, as they were named by the Brotherhood after the battle for the purifier. The group had undergone upgrades since their journey: Jericho wore metal armor with a Talon Company boss helmet and was the new Top Dog of Evergreen Mills with his reformed raiders, Charon continued with his reinforced leather armor along with the terrible shotgun and Blackhaw revolver, Cross maintained his power armor while acting as a mediator between the outcasts and the Brotherhood. Cross wore mercenary clothes revealing his abdomen and no longer bore the explosive collar, Harkness continued with his Rivet City security armor, Sydney used combat armor with his reservist rifle painted green and had some leaves for camouflage and his ultra SMG. Meatball had heavy metal armor while Fawkes wore a metal chest plate and a helmet made of the same material as a super mutant's armor. The only one that underwent no changes was Sergeant RL-3.
"Sydney will destroy three turrets, Fawkes will scatter them, and we will push against the Enclave; once inside, we will be at the front. NOBODY splits up, and we'll move down to the bottom of the place. Understood?"
The group nodded. "Alright, one last check of your weapons, and we move."
Everyone did along with armor-piercing rounds to ensure better impacts against the power armor. Jericho with a Chinese assault rifle, Clover with her Kneecapper and Jingwei's sword, Charon with the terrible shotgun in perfect condition and clean along with the Blackhaw revolver, Cross with his laser rifle and super sledge, Butch with an assault rifle, an SMG, and the pocket knife, RL-3 with his base functions, Fawkes with the super sledge and his laser minigun, Sydney with his reservist rifle and ultra SMG, and Harkness with his plasma rifle and a laser pistol. All had their ammunition and repair gear along with grenades and explosive mines.
Once ready, Sydney got into position while the rest moved behind a rock. The wastelander, using his binoculars, flashed to signal that they were ready. Sydney adjusted the sight, aimed at the first turret, and shot, destroying it. This caused the Enclave soldiers to become alert to see how the remaining turrets were destroyed, and then one of them fell to the ground dead while the rest of the gears came out of hiding to shoot.
"Brotherhood!" one of the soldiers in power armor said while taking cover behind safety. Cross threw three grenades, causing them to scatter. Giving Fawkes the opportunity to use his minigun against them while the rest shot back. Charon crouched behind a rock and jumped out to use his revolver, shooting the lenses of the armor, taking out two while drawing his shotgun for support. Jericho and Clover fired at three behind a rock. Meatball ran towards them to take the rifle from their hands giving Jericho the chance to shoot them in the head, he only needed a full magazine to finish them off. Clover whistled for Meatball to flee while throwing an impulse grenade causing damage to the internal components of the armor and Harkness using his synth vision, delivered precise shots to the weaker areas of the armor against the two. The wastelander ran towards one to use his pistol to make them focus on him. While aiming at him, he dashed to the other side, exposing the fusion core for Butch to shoot at, causing it to explode. The wastelander nodded and continued advancing.
Cross downed one with his super sledge while impacting against his head, RL-3 shot plasma melting the chest of one, allowing the wastelander to shoot at him. Fawkes handled the last one, leaving him with numerous holes in his body.
"Clear!" Charon shouted to calm everyone down. Sydney left his hiding spot to join them.
"Load your weapons, and let's go in." Following the order, they would enter inside.
[-]
Inside, everyone agreed that the place was outside the usual wasteland environment. For those entering for the first time, the atmosphere was very heavy, not helped by the things the Enclave put in here to make it more comfortable; nor did it help that it was empty; no robots, no scientists. Nothing.
It was as if they had left the place without rushing. The wastelander led them down until they reached the columns, but they noticed something strange that had been constructed.
It was a machine connected to the columns fed by fusion cores, and what looked like mini Tesla coils but were crystals.
"This doesn't look like it was made before the war," Harkness said, looking at the machine.
"Look at this!" Clover said, pulling out more crystals, but different colors; the most striking were the samples: Green grass, living tree bark, and fruits and vegetables that they had never seen before.
"I will send a message to the Brotherhood to send troops to investigate," the wastelander said using his Pip-Boy to send the message. He inspected the console and decided to activate it. The columns emitted a green electricity that reached the machine, and the crystals activated, causing the machine to light up in blue.
"Shall we go in?" Butch asked, uncertain.
The wastelander before leaving sent another message to the Brotherhood.
"We will enter to explore a strange machine connected to some columns; we will try to connect from the other side for further instructions.
Sincerely, Paladin Albert Johnson."
"Let's go in." The group followed him as he was the first to enter along with the rest. If they had checked carefully, one of the research papers said, "Caution random jump, side effects depending on the user."
