Chapter 7:Delayed Discussions & Dangerous Situations

Daisuke juggled the bags he was holding as he fished his keys out of his pocket. He was about to unlock the door but stopped and turned to look at Mao. "Why don't you try your key?"

After they had eaten Daisuke had insisted they stop somewhere to get a copy of the front door key for Mao to hold on to. No surprise the younger tried to argue claiming he didn't believe he'd be staying with Daisuke long enough to really need it. He finally caved when Daisuke explained he had planned on making an extra key anyway and there was no reason why Mao shouldn't hold onto it for the time being.

Mao reached into his pocket for the key and stepped forward. He slid the key into the lock and took a deep breath as he turned it. When the lock clicked he released a sigh of relief. "It worked."

Daisuke opened the door placed his share of the bags down quick so he could slide off his shoes and slip into his pair of slippers. He glanced over to see Mao doing the same. The two made their way into the living room setting the bags down with promises to take care of them later, both too exhausted to do much else. Daisuke spared a glance at his roommate, "Did you have anything you wanted to do before work?"

Mao had headed into the kitchen where they had decided to keep Roku's food and water bowl. He pulled out the kitty food bag and filled his pet's bowl and changed the water before heading back into the living room. "I actually hoped to get in a short nap. I don't have to be at work for another two hours or so." He sat down, "But I will have to get there a little early to explain to my boss what happened with my uniform."

"And I will be coming with you." Daisuke said as he took a set next to him. "After all I need to cover the cost for your new uniform and I have a meeting with my manager there anyway right after you start your shift."

"I remember." Mao said as he picked up all four of his bags and headed into his room. "I'll be back out in about an hour." He said before closing the door. He came back out again seconds later headed down the hall went into Daisuke's room and came back out holding Kyoki. "May I?"

"I told you last night he's your new sleeping partner." Daisuke said chuckling.

Mao held the bear tightly to him smiling, "Arigatou." With that he headed into his room again.

An hour came and went and during that time Daisuke had tried to figure out a way to update his blog but nothing seemed to come to mind. Finally deciding he would wait til later that night he looked towards Mao's' room just in time to see the door open. "Were you able to sleep at all?"

Mao shook his head. "I guess I'm worried about what happened earlier."

"Mao I told you everything will be fine." Daisuke said. "Now will we have enough time to walk or would you prefer to take the train." They had only walked towards the restaurant that first night so he couldn't remember how long it had taken them. Then again he hadn't been paying attention to the time anyway.

"If we leave now we'll have about twenty minutes to spare." Mao explained. He turned on his heel to look around, "Roku?"

Once again the cat amazed Daisuke as he came running out from his bedroom and up to Mao's open arms. "I have never seen a cat do that before."

"Well he and I are close. I wasn't lying when I said he was my best friend." Mao chuckled.

"Speaking of friends. Do you have any human ones?" Daisuke asked. "Anyone you would like to see sometime?"

"A few friends from high school but we lost track of each other. Besides I've been so focused on my studies and taking care of myself and Roku I didn't have time for them." Mao said looking guilty. "I let them know what was going on though before I started my job and they wished me luck. Other than that though I haven't really talked to anyone from my past." He stroked his cat's fur a few times and hugged him close before setting him down with one last pat.

"A clean slate?" Daisuke asked as he led his roommate towards the door where the two of them changed shoes.

"Yeah I guess you could say that." Mao responded as he finished putting on his shoes and checking his pocket for his copy of the front door key. He made plans to buy a keychain for it either before or after he went to take his exam the next day.

Almost as if he had read Mao's mind Daisuke reached for his own keys and pulled off one of the keychains, "Here you should put your key on this. I don't want you to lose it."

"It's so cute, thank you." Mao said as he proceeded to put the key on the ring before pocketing it and looking up. "That's kind of scary I was just thinking I should pick up a keychain for it."

Daisuke chuckled, "Well I guess it's true, great minds think alike." He took Mao's hand into his own. "Come on let's get going."

Mao only nodded as he followed Daisuke out the door. The two of them headed down the same direction as the night before. The walk once again was done in a comfortable silence with the occasional passerby or car horn honking. "So I hope your meeting goes well."

Daisuke had been pondering on the bad feeling he had mentioned earlier that day so he was snapped out of his thoughts when Mao addressed him. "Oh, yes I do as well. Although I'm going to have to speak to Tanaku-kun about his behavior towards you the other night."

Mao opened his mouth to protest about that but closed it seconds later. He was learning slowly but surely not to argue with the older man. Moments later the restaurant came in view. "As I promised 20 minutes to spare."

Daisuke nodded looking at the time on his cell phone, "So you did. That should give us enough time to explain the situation to your boss." He led Mao into the restaurant.

Sukoshi was at the front speaking to another server when he looked up to see the two young men walk in. His eyes narrowed into slits when they landed on the younger, "Hamao-san, you're late." He eyed the boy's attire, "And why aren't you in your uniform? If you expect to be able to support yourself and pay for the coverage of the tea cups you shattered the other day I suggest you actually try."

Mao looked at Sukoshi confused, "Late? That can't be, you have me scheduled to come in at 6pm it's only 5:45."

Sukoshi flipped through the schedule book he had been holding about to prove the younger wrong but stopped when he realized what was spoken was true. "Fine, but that still doesn't explain why you do not have your uniform."

Mao opened his mouth to explain but was stopped when he felt an arm around his wrist and felt himself being pulled towards the back. He glanced over his shoulder at Daisuke who was giving him a confused look to which he shrugged in return. As he turned the corner he felt himself being pinned against the wall and a hand was clamped over his mouth before he could yelp out in surprise.

"One sound and you'll regret it." Sukoshi hissed as he pushed the younger boy to the ground straddling his waist and putting his entire weight on the boy to keep him from escaping. He then moved his hand to unbutton several of the buttons on Mao's shirt before moving his hand into the opening and moving his finger of Mao's nipple. He used his foot to close the door not noticing he didn't fully latch.

Feeling the contact Mao gasped in shock and he stayed frozen for several moments. Fear had started to fill him him. He couldn't move even if he wanted to even when he felt his other nipple being flicked and a leg moving between his own trying to force them apart. The fear spread even further when that same leg began moving upwards and the hand in his shirt moved out and grasped one of his hands forcefully moving it towards something hard.

When Mao came to enough sense to try to jerk his hand away he felt the hand clamped on his mouth move down to his neck in a vice grip. He immediately gasped for breath as his windpipe was pinched.

Sukoshi had let go of Mao's hand long enough to unzip his pants and had grabbed it again before Mao could move it out of his reach and forced him to grasp his now hardened member. He kept his own hand clamped on Mao's making him stroke it.

But as soon as he moved his own hand away Mao did as well. The hand around his neck tightened even more, "You'll do what I say." Sukoshi hissed as he hastily unbuttoned and unzipped Mao's jeans. He lived his own hips up long enough to pull them down along with the boy's boxers. A look of disappointment appeared on the restaurant owner's face, "I see this will be more difficult then I thought." He looked at Mao, "No matter, I'll take you either way."

Hearing that snapped Mao out of his fear and shock and he took in what breath he could and screamed at the top of his longs, DAI-CHAN!" another choking breath, "DAI-CHAN HELP ME!"

His cries were cut off by a loud slap. "You little bastard I told you one word and you would regret it!" Sukoshi jeered.

The hand that had been around his neck had been the one he had used to slap him and Mao took the risk and yelled again, "DAI-CHAN HELP PLEASE!"

Both of them turned when the door to the storage room opened and Daisuke stood there for several seconds before stepping in quick and throwing Sukoshi off the trembling ebony haired boy.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

The strength of the throw had caused Sukoshi to crash into a pile of boxes. "Who the hell-"

But Daisuke didn't let him finish as he had reached back and punched the restaurant owner right in the face. A red anger was now coursing through him and he looked down in disgust when he realized something sticking out of the other mans' pants. Ooh it was tempting it was so tempting but he would never stoop that low. "How dare you touch him."

Sukoshi sat up nursing his nose, which was now gushing with blood. "That little bastard owes me more than his wages could ever begin to cover for."

Mao by this time had moved to the corner shaking like a leaf, "Wh-what are you talking about?"

"The dishes you've broken since I hired you including those teacups from the other day. And things have gone missing too." Sukoshi accused hotly, "I know you took them."

Daisuke looked between the two of them astonished. "When did these items go missing?"

"Five or six days ago. Last Wednesday or Thursday" Sukoshi said as if it wasn't important. "It doesn't matter, what matters is that little worthless brat needs to pay for them."

Mao's eyes widened, "I don't know what you're talking about! I wasn't working five or six days ago. I had that assembly you let me take off for at school! I wasn't even here those two days!"

Daisuke moved over and gathered the now trembling boy into his arms picking him up bridal style. "It's okay he can't hurt you."

"Don't be so sure about that. He still works for me." Sukoshi sneered.

"Not anymore he doesn't." Daisuke glared at the other man. "And this restaurant will no longer be in business once I'm done with-

"Dai-chan no. He's not worth the trouble." Mao protested softly.

"But Mao are you sure? He could have really hurt you." Daisuke pointed out.

"I know but you already have enough on your plate I don't want you to add more to it." Mao said softly his voice surprisingly calm considering what had just happened. But he couldn't stop shaking.

Daisuke sighed now understanding what the boy was getting at. "Mao this is serious. Who's to say he won't try this again on another boy?" he turned and glared at Sukoshi again, "I wouldn't put it past this bastard."

Sukoshi returned the glare all the while holding a handkerchief at his nose so the glare was only halfhearted.

Mao looked at his former boss, "I'm never coming back here again, and if you so much as come within five feet of me I will report what happened here and I have an eye witness."

"So what? No one will believe you over me." Sukoshi spat as he stood up storming towards the other two.

Daisuke set Mao down in time to grab Sukoshi by the arm and twisted behind his back in a death grip, "I'm not a violent person I never have been. But if you so much as even look in that boy's direction I will not hesitate to make an exception." He tightened his grip even more and dropped his voice to a menacing tone, "And believe me you don't' want me to do that." He let go of Sukoshi's arm pushing him hard causing him to fall to the ground.

Daisuke turned to Mao who was still trembling like a leave caught in a gust of wind, "Come on, I'm calling my manager and we are going to a different restaurant." He motioned to the young boy to come closer to him if he wanted.

"But what will you tell him as an excuse?" Mao asked softly and walked over before feeling his knees give out.

Daisuke was quick to catch him before he hit the ground and carried him out of the room throwing one last glare at Sukoshi for good measure, "Leave that to me. But one thing is for sure, I am not letting you out of my sight again."

Mao only nodded too frightened and shook up to argue for any reason this time. Once they had left the restaurant building they were greeted by none other than Daisuke's manager.

"Ah Watanabe-san, on time for once I see?" Tanaku's eyes widened then narrowed into slits seconds later, "What is he doing here?"

Daisuke held back a groan, "He will be accompanying me from now on. He is my new assistant."

Tanaku didn't bother to hide his glare, "I see and I assume you expect I will allow him to sit in the meeting?"

"Yes, I do." Daisuke answered, "And speaking of which, I want you to contact Morishiku-san and Takemoto-san. Tell them I refuse to meet at this restaurant and any future meetings they wish to have with me must take place at a different location."

"May I know the reason why?" Tanaku asked, "I'm sure they will want to know."

Daisuke looked at Mao who in turn nodded slowly. The auburn haired actor turned back to look at Tanaku, "The owner is not worthy of our presence especially after he has falsely accused Mao for several occasions and events." He took Mao's hand into his own to give him some reassurance, "If they wish to meet here tell them I will be refusing the role in the drama."

Both Tanaku and Mao looked at Daisuke in surprise.

"Dai-chan no!"

"You would ruin your chance at an opportunity like this?" Tanaku demanded more then asked, "What are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking of my well being and the well being of my friend here." Daisuke responded.

Tanaku opened his mouth to protest again but shut it and pulled out his cell phone. After several moments he turned to face the boys. "Okay the new location will be in an a half hour at Natsuhibachi."

Daisuke knew the restaurant and actually favored it, "Fine." He turned to Mao, "Would you like to go home and rest or-" He didn't want to leave Mao alone at all but wasn't sure if the younger boy would be willing to go with them.

Mao almost shook his head rapidly but stopped himself, "If I may I would like to stay with you." He said softly.

Daisuke only nodded before turning to Tanaku, "He's coming with us."

Tanaku led the two boys towards his car, "Very well." He motioned for the youngest to get in the back seat all the while glaring at him making sure he knew that he wasn't welcome in his eyes.

Mao noticed the glare but said nothing in return. He was too busy trying to figure out how he was going to find another job and keep up with his studies and exams. Not to mention paying Daisuke back. He already owed way too much. If he fell any more in debt with the handsome actor he wouldn't be able to get back out again.

He kept his eyes focused on his hands where they sat on his lap slightly quivering due to the fact he was still shook up after what he had just been through. When they reached the restaurant they saw the two men from the other night stepping out of their own vehicle.

"Tanaku-san, I do hope you know we aren't at all pleased with this change of events." Takemoto said as he noticed Mao standing behind Daisuke and his expression turned into an all out glare. "What may I ask is that doing here?"

Mao's eyes widened and he started to step back but was stopped when he felt Daisuke take his hand, "Dai-chan?"

Daisuke gave Mao a reassuring squeeze, "It's okay." He turned to look at the two businessmen then his own agent, "I can clearly see no reason to hold this meeting. I am no longer interested in performing in the drama nor working with either of you in the future."

Tanaku's eyes grew wide, "What?! Watanabe-san you dare refuse such an opportunity as this? This could make your career skyrocket."

"When have I ever claimed I wanted extreme popularity over night?" Daisuke argued in return, "You just keep pinning everything you want on to me and I am telling you right now to stop." He knew he was taking a risk but he knew he had to do this.

Tanaku opened his mouth to protest but closed it again knowing his client was right. "Very well, you are right. I suppose you could do with a few days off as well."

Daisuke nodded then turned to Takmoto and Morishiku. "Had you not insulted my friend and openly apologized I would have been more than happy to take up the role. But seeing as how if I did sign on with you I'd be working with two men who appear to be extremely selfish. And with all due respect I prefer to work with others who know the meaning of the word respect."

Morishiku was busy glaring at Mao, "You honestly think that boy is more important this the role of a lifetime?'

Mao quietly cleared his throat, "It's not the role itself that matters it's the actor who portrays the role."

The other four men turned to look at the youngest when he spoke. "You know he's right." Tanaku pointed out.

Takemoto folded his arms in front of his chest, "Yes, I suppose he is right." He turned to look at Mao then Daisuke, "If we apologize to this young man would you reconsider?"

"You owe him an apology anyway." Daisuke pointed out. "But I might reconsider if you give me time to think it over, and discuss it more with Tanaku-kun."

"How much time would you like?" Morishiku asked.

"I'd say give me three days. I'll have my decision by then." Daisuke said. "Now if you don't mind."

Takemoto and Morishiku both looked at Mao before bowing slightly, "We apologize for insulting you."

Mao kept himself from looking down, "Um, thank you."

"Now that, that is out of the way might we all have some dinner?" Tanaku suggested.

Daisuke looked his agent then shrugged. "I suppose just a meal and no discussion should be fine." He was about to lead Mao into the restaurant but stopped when his phone rang with a ringtone he hadn't heard in weeks, 'Oh excuse me a moment." He pulled his phone from his pocket, "Hai?" He went silent for a few seconds before his eyes went wide, "What?!"

A/N: Oh man I wonder who is plotting my death right now. But just remember if you kill me you wont' find out what happens! Also has anyone figured out the pattern in the chapter's yet? If you get the answer right, I will write any type of one shot that you request with a few minor exceptions, which I will explain in the next chapter. And speaking of the next chapter 3 reviews = chapter 8!
