"Breaking news: Watanabe Daisuke, hours of blissful togetherness with male lover"

There it was in plain Japanese. Underneath the title was a picture of the two of them from earlier that very same day taken a distance away. It was a picture of the two of them sitting at the café holding each other hands. Immediately after seeing the article Daisuke had done a search on all the pages his fans had created for him or ones that had been inspired by him. The article had spread faster than it should have. After receiving the phone call, he had abruptly called off the dinner plans and had dragged Mao back to the apartment building, using every back street and alley he could to avoid being seen. As soon as they had arrived back he had dove onto his laptop and immediately began searching the link his contact had sent him vial email.

Mao had stayed behind Daisuke reading the article as well before moving into his room and gathering only a few of the clothes that they had purchased earlier that day. He grabbed his wallet and cellphone and headed towards the door motioning for Roku to follow him, which he did.

Daisuke had been in shock, pure and utter shock. The phone call from earlier had been from his former co-star from ironically Mao's favorite movie of his. Keimiko had apparently been browsing and had come across the article. Immediately she had called him hoping to see if there was anyway they could fix it.

But the deed had been done. And now they had to figure out a way to fix it, the question was how. Daisuke was so focused on the computer screen that it wasn't until he heard the sound of the door open did he realize Mao was trying to leave. "Wait where are you going?"

Mao stopped by didn't turn around, "I'm sorry I'm the cause of this mess. If we hadn't met you wouldn't and I wouldn't-" He was taken by surprise when he felt his bags being torn from his hands and his entire body being pulled towards his roommates, "Watanabe-ku-

"No, please. It's Dai-chan, only Dai-chan." Daisuke held fast to the other boy, "Please don't leave. We'll figure something out, please-"

Mao wanted to struggle but knew he couldn't. Instead he returned the embrace sighing deeply, "Gomen nasai." Was all he whispered.

"This isn't your fault." Daisuke responded. Neither of them heard the door open and a chuckle echo the room.

"Well well well what do we have here? Apparently the article is true."

Daisuke jumped away fast but not too fast any harm came to Mao. He knew that voice anywhere, "Keimiko!"

Keimiko chuckled as she threw her arms around Daisuke's shoulders, "Good to see you again Nii-sama."

Daisuke returned the hug twirling the girl around happily, "You came!" He set her down gently.

"Of course I did you goofball. I told you I would help you figure out a way to fix this."

"And I'm eternally grateful." Daisuke responded, "Oh before I forget, Keimiko, I'd like you to meet my new roommate, Hamao Kyosuke, but he prefers to be called Mao. Mao this is my former co-star, Urasaki Keimiko. She played the role of my younger sister in your favorite movie of mine 'Kakko no Kokoro"

Keimiko looked at Mao who had been standing there wide-eyed. Seconds later she was almost squealing, "Dai-chan he's adorable! Can I keep him?"

Mao's already widened eyes grew larger than saucers, "Wha-"

"She's just teasing. Keimiko here has a weakness for cute things." Daisuke explained, "And I have to say I would be lying if I didn't agree with her."

Mao's cheeks darkened, "Dai-chan!"

"Hey I did tell you earlier when we were shopping you have the makings of being a model if you wanted." Daisuke responded only to be interrupted by a loud meow.

All three humans looked down to see Roku practically glaring up at them and Mao shook his head, "He's hungry. I know that meow."

Keimiko quirked an eyebrow but Daisuke only chuckled. "You can read his 'meows'?"

Mao nodded, "Yep, it's weird I know but well, it's hard to explain." He walked towards the kitchen and pulled out the catfood bag. Once again he motioned for Roku to 'give thanks' which the cat did much to Keimiko's surprise before he set the bowl down and also filled up the water bowl as well. He glanced at the clock, "I guess since I don't have to work today I might as well get some more studying in."

"Studying?"

Daisuke nodded, "Yep, young Mao here is going into be the best veterinarian in Japan."

"I just want to take care of animals." Mao responded quietly.

"And considering how much you've been studying I'm sure you'll do great." Daisuke praised him, "Speaking of that since you don't have to work, what are you plans for tonight then?"

"Well I figured I'd do what I said I was going to and keep studying." Mao answered.

"Hmm well as long as you get some sleep too. After your nightmare last night I think you could use a full nights rest, especially after what happened today." Daisuke pointed out, "Speaking of which, do you mind if I-" he nodded towards Keimiko.

Mao sighed before nodding, "If she's going to help us she might as well know everything." he glanced towards the kitchen, "Oh since we had to skip out on that dinner would you two mind if I cooked us up something?"

Daisuke shook his head, "Mao you already made breakfast this morning, it's my turn to cook."

"You and Keimiko discussing what were going to do about that picture is more important but I don't think any of us should try to do anything on empty stomachs." Mao responded, "Besides you two probably want to be alone to catch up anyway, I just don't want to be in the way."

Daisuke sighed in frustration, stood up and started walking towards Mao only to find himself tripping over the bag of clothes from earlier and falling forward.

Both Keimiko and Mao moved towards the auburn-haired actor but Mao was quicker as he somehow managed to catch Daisuke before he hit the ground. The silence around them was thick for several seconds before Keimiko walked over, "Dai-chan are you okay?"

Daisuke couldn't move for several moments. Finally he came to his senses and with Mao's help was on his feet again, "Yeah I think so." He bent down and picked up the bag of clothes, "This reminds me," he turned to Mao, "Where exactly were you planning on going if I had let you leave?"

"I didn't plan anything at that moment. I just figured you wanted me gone since I-" Mao trailed off, "I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for." Daisuke assured him, "Now, I want you to take these to your room where they belong then I guess if you insist you may cook dinner tonight. But tomorrow I'm cooking breakfast and dinner if we don't eat out."

Mao smiled warmly, "Thank you Dai-chan." With that he did as he was told and headed into his room before returning minutes later and headed for the kitchen, "I'll let you two know when it's ready."

Daisuke chuckled as he led Keimiko out onto his patio, "Thank you again for coming. I honestly don't know what I would have done if you hadn't."

Keimiko smiled, "Hey you are one of my best friends. I'm just glad I was able to warn you about the article before the press found you and hounded you about it."

"Yeah." Daisuke turned his head towards the kitchen, "I'm mainly worried about Mao he is still just a kid. He has so much else to worry about though. I mean I've only known him for about 3 days and the things I've seen him have to go through." He shook his head, "No one should have to endure any of that."

"What are you talking about?" Keimiko asked.

"Well when I first met him he had actually fainted from exhaustion. I took him back here and I guess nurse him back to health in a certain sense. I found out that he had been pushing himself past his limits to study and work as much as he can so he can support himself. He believes that if he gets even one answer wrong on anything he'll be kicked out of school. So after we finish eating if you are still here when he starts studying don't be surprised if it looks like he's in a bubble because once those books and notes are open he's lost to me." Daisuke responded.

Keimiko nodded in understanding before running he fingers through her own auburn hair, "You asked him earlier if it was okay if you told me something, what is it?"

"Oh that, well actually it's two things. The first is the reason Mao is staying with me in the first place." Daisuke started, "You see Mao's apartment had been robbed and he has no other place to go."

"Oh so that's why you asked him where he planned on going earlier." Keimiko said as she turned to lean against the railing. "Speaking of that have you heard anything?"

Daisuke shook his head, "No, but the police are to contact me should they need to question Mao or myself about it."

"Why would they need to question you?" Keimiko asked uncertainly.

"Because I was with him the night before and day of the robbery." Daisuke answered before explaining what had happened. "As far as I could tell Mao doesn't have any enemies so we think it was just a common variety robbery, Mao was just unlucky. But his apartment can't be touched until the investigation is completed. And to be honest I hope it never is."

"Why would you say that?"

"Because once he's allowed to return to his apartment, Mao insists on going back home right away." Daisuke answered softly.

Keimiko's eyes widened for a moment before they softened immediately afterward, "You do care for him don't you?"

Daisuke said nothing in return only glancing over his should to see Mao happily cooking and humming, "Someone tried to hurt him."

"What?!"

"The other thing I had to ask him permission to tell you. Earlier Mao's former boss attacked him." Daisuke's voice was quiet.

"Attacked him how?"

"In a way no one should be. If I hadn't gotten there in time he would have, and Mao would have-" Daisuke's legs nearly gave out, but Keimiko caught him and steadied him.

"But you did stop him right?" Keimiko asked.

"Yeah I did he had Mao's jeans-" Daisuke trailed off.

"You don't have to say anymore Dai-chan." Keimiko placed and on his forearm. "Come on we better get inside. I hear it's supposed to rain tonight."

"Rain?" Mao asked as he peeked his head out of the kitchen, "Oh goodie, I love rain."

Daisuke and Keimiko exchanged glances unsure if the younger by was serious or if his words were dripping with sarcasm. Shrugging they headed into to the apartment just as the downpour made it's appearance. "So how's dinner coming along?"

"Just finished. I hope you don't mind something simple." Mao said as he began to set the table.

"Not at all, a meal is a meal to me." Keimiko said as she gave thanks for the food.

The three ate dinner in silence all the while trying to figure a way out of the current predicament. Daisuke had never had a scandal against him like this so he wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to get out of it.

The silence around them was interrupted by Mao clearing his throat, "Ano, I might have an idea but it would be a long shot. If I remember correctly Keimiko-san you don't have any siblings but you do have cousins right?"

"Yes that's right, why do you ask?"

"Well, what if-" Mao began but then trailed off, "No nevermind it wouldn't work."

"Mao what is it? Neither of us can think of anything so it has to be better than nothing." Daisuke pointed out.

"Okay, well no one in the media knows who I am and Keimiko no one knows any of your cousins right?" Mao asked.

"I don't believe so, no." Keimiko answered.

"Well, what if I was your cousin, whom was meeting with Dai-chan because you introduced us since I'm in need of a part time job and you Dai-chan are in need of an assistant. Also, I'm your messenger between the two of you since you have started a relationship."

"Relationship you mean as in dating?" Keimiko asked.

"Of course, that's perfect!" Daisuke exclaimed. "It's got to work!"

"But Dai-chan you told me you go both ways are you sure you want to be 'dating' me?" Keimiko pointed out.

"Kemiko the article says that I'm gay, I'm not I'm bi. But also I want to protect Mao. I dragged him into this when he shouldn't have been in the first place." Daisuke said.

"Things are a little iffy and confusing but I think this plan might work. You two have been close so who's to say a romantic relationship wouldn't' be possible right?" Mao asked.

"He's got a point there I suppose. I will say if I didn't see you as just an older brother on set and off, I wouldn't mind dating you." Keimiko said in a teasing voice.

Daisuke blushed, "Okay, so I guess tomorrow Keimiko and I will talk to the press and explain everything, including our relationship."

"Wait does that mean I have to kiss you?" Keimiko asked in mock horror.

"How do you think I feel?" Daisuke retorted playfully.

Mao looked at the two of them and laughed, "You two are such amazing actors I know you can pull it off. And think about it, you'll only have to stay together until all of this blows over, or…" he trailed off, "At least until you get me out your hair."

Daisuke's smile faded, "You stop that right now Hamao Kyosuke."

Mao froze. No one had called him but his full family name in that tone before and it scared him.

"I said what I meant earlier today. I want you to stay with me and work with me. I'm not letting you go without a job and don't even think about paying me back." Daisuke spoke in a firm tone.

"But Dai-chan I already planned on job hunting after my exam the day after tomorrow." Mao pointed out.

"Nonsense, I plan on taking you and Keimiko to that promised place I told you about the other day." Daisuke said. "It will fuel the fire of our plan. Keimiko and I will be on a date of sorts and you'll be tagging along 'in case I need you for something, and also Keimiko won't want to go without her favorite 'cousin' right?"

Keimiko nodded, "Of course."

Mao opened his mouth to argue but knew it was a moot point. Instead he finished his portion of the dinner he prepared before clearing his dishes and putting them into the sink. "I'm going to go to my room to study for a few hours. Let me know when you've finished eating, I'll take care of the-"

"Don't even think about it." Daisuke held his hand up, "You cooked breakfast and dinner I am doing the dishes."

Mao only nodded knowing even attempting to argue would again be pointless. He headed into his room took a seat at the provided desk and began pouring over his notes for the exam.

Keimiko looked at the boy's closed door sadly, "Poor thing."

"Don't pity him. I found out right away that's the last thing he wants." Daisuke warned. "He's determined to do everything on his own. He I know for a fact he feels like a burden to me when on the contrary he's quite the opposite."

"You needed him to come into your life." Kemiko pointed out softly.

Daisuke said nothing in return only sighing as he cleared the table and set about working on the dishes. He offered his 'girlfriend' a smile when Keimiko walked over to assist him. "Considering how heavy the rain appears to be you are more than welcome to stay the night."

Keimiko smiled, "I think I'll take you up on that offer." she turned her head, "Oh by the way, did you mean what you said earlier about taking him somewhere?"

"Yes I did. I want to take him to a few places we shot Kakko no Kokoro."

"Why?"

"Well apparently that's his favorite movie that I've starred in. He said it was my best performance. So I want to show him where we filmed." Daisuke explained, "To be honest I don't think he's really gotten to travel anywhere. So after his exam this will hopefully be quite a treat."

"Ah, that makes sense." Keimiko said in understanding. "Well let's finish these up and pop in a movie before bed like old times."

"Sound like a plan." Daisuke agreed.

"Oh I want to check on Mao first though." Keimiko said as she dried the last dish and set it up in the cupboard. She headed towards Mao's room and softly knocked on the door before slowly opening it. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the site before her, "Psst Dai-chan come here quickly!" she whispered.

Daisuke briskly walked over to see what the fuss was about and knew exactly why Keimiko wanted him to see it. "Where's my camera?" He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone before snapping a picture of what was in front of him.

Mao had placed Kyoki right next to his desk. He must have fallen asleep and in doing so had somehow flopped over in his sleep using the enormous teddy bear as a pillow. How the boy hadn't fallen completely off the chair altogether was a mystery in itself.

The two looked at the picture happily before Daisuke walked over and carefully lifted Mao into his arms and placed him onto his bed. Once he was sure the boy was comfortable he placed the teddy bear on the bed next to him and motioned for Keimiko to step aside.

As soon as she did Roku bounded across the carpet and onto his master's bed curling up next to Mao purring contently. Keimiko smiled warmly before sighing as she looked at Daisuke who was looking down on the softly sleeping boy. She knew what the look was in her former co-stars eyes.

Whether he knew it or not Watanabe Daisuke was in love.
