AN: Who knew that Kara could play pool? I would think that since Alex is so good at it, she would be able to teach Kara. All her denials about Kara being bad is a deflection on how good Kara really is, especially at pool and poker/blackjack or any other card game played at a pool table.

*Maggie's POV*

I had asked Alex if she wanted to be my partner in a pool competition but she said she had a mission to go on and recommended Kara instead. So I decided to find out if Little Danvers had some skill, which is why I was standing outside her door. I knocked.

"It's open!" Kara yelled from inside.

I opened it and locked it once I was in. Kara hugged me.

"Hi Maggie. What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Well, my precinct has an annual pool playing competition as well as some poker and Roulette. I asked Alex if she was able to come but she's got a mission to go on, so she suggested asking you." I said.

Kara chuckled, "Alright then Sawyer. I'll come with you."

"Great, wear something that would belong in the precinct though. It starts in a couple hours, so we could go grab something to eat and talk about what we are going to do." I said.

Kara nodded, "I gotta change then." she said.

She came out in a pair of black cargo pants, combat boots, a dark green shirt with a black motorcycle jacket on.

"Dang Little Danvers. You rock that look." I said.

"Thanks." Kara said, "It's not something I wear often, but if I want to blend in, I wear something that I know others can't even see me in."

She put a hat on and pulled her ponytail through. I smiled and we headed to Noonan's.

"Hey Maggie, tell me about this competition of yours." Kara said as we got our food.

"Alright, so it starts with pool. The winners get a pick of either roulette or poker. Then we do the other later." I told her.

"Is it traditional poker or is it a variation?" Kara asked.

"Traditional." I said.

Kara smirked, "We've got this in the bag." she said.

I was skeptical but I shrugged and took her to the precinct. The pool competition started and Kara and I were against someone who I was horrible against. My old partner, Connor. A creepy dude.

"Kara...I don't like the dude we're up against." I whispered knowing she heard me.

She glanced at him, "Don't worry about him Maggie. I've got you. Take a breath and imagine it's Winn alright. He's got an elbow problem." she said.

It proved to be true as he broke, but none of the balls went in. Kara went for the solids and sunk them one right after the other but missed fourth one she aimed for.

"Woah." I said, awed at her progress.

Kara grinned, then whispered, "Oh, that was just me giving him a chance. I can sink them all in one go. It's why I don't play during game nights at the bar."

Connor missed the 14 ball so it was Kara's turn. She then proceeded to sink the rest of the balls. We advanced and practically creamed the rest of them. Kara toned it down a bit though and it was time for roulette. Kara had a controlled smile, one that didn't give away happiness or any other reaction, just a controlled smile. As we played, I realized that Kara was hiding her gambling prowess all this time. When we got to poker, Kara just laughed.

"Hey Maggie, did Alex ever say why I don't play poker?" she whispered to me.

"No. Why? Something I should know?" I asked as this was one of the best annual pool party I've had yet.

"Good, all you have to do is just watch." Kara said.

I watched from the side as in the finale, the better of the two would go head to head with the others. I wanted to see what Kara had to offer and let her at it. I watched as the others seemingly forgot about Kara and wasted all their good cards. Then at the last second, the second where Connor looked like the last person, Kara made herself known.

"Ahem, are you forgetting someone?" Kara asked.

She had a smug smile on her face, one that I've seen on Lena's more than once. Kara whipped his ass as he folded. I was expecting Kara to fold as well considering her cards, but she didn't. When the Jack and Queen of spades was revealed next, Kara smirked. Connor folded once more to try and get a better hand. It failed as Kara put down the King and Ace. Earning herself the royal flush and consequently winning the pot.

"Holy shit! That was amazing Kara!" I said as I jumped at her, not caring that she was my wife's little sister.

Kara caught me as she took the winnings. "Well, now you know why I don't join in during game nights, or seemingly lose."

"And I thought Alex was the good one." I said jokingly.

Kara laughed as we made our way out, "She taught me the basics, but since I grew up with a similar game at home, I was used to it. Surprisingly, the games are similar enough that the tactics I used would have worked for that game as well."

I looked at her in awe. "Ohh, we've got to get you in the circuit." I said.

Kara had a gleam in her eye, as if she was amused, "Slight problem with that there Sawyer," she said.

"What, don't tell me you were in the circuit, I would have heard about you." I said gawking and uncaring about who saw me.

"Yep. I was. Of course I couldn't use my real name, so I went with Kalex Rande Vers." Kara said.
