AN: What if Kara revealed to Lena her Kryptonian smarts by accidentally coming into Lena's office fiddling with a Kryptonian puzzle. Which leads Lena to question Kara, a Chess game, and...education? In this one shot, Lena knows Kara is Supergirl.

On with the story….~ Immortalshark

*Lena's POV*

I knew I had to do an interview on the recent events, on what I thought of Lex's plan to try to take over the world. So I chose the only person who I would give that interview to, Kara. I specifically made it so that it was either Kara or no interview at all. Then a few minutes later, Kara came in, of course with a bag of food as well. Once it was just us, her face split into a smile.

"Hi Lena." she said.

"Kara." I said chuckling as she seemed to bounce over.

See, we had been dating for five going on six months now. No one knew and surprisingly, Kara had kept it quiet. In return for quarterly interviews, Kara helped me with some of my personal projects. I thought it couldn't get better than having Kara as a friend, but it did when she was my girlfriend. She helped with harder math problems that I couldn't solve, I taught her how to ride a motorcycle and how it's built. Every now and then, Kara would be working on something other than her reports. I looked to see symbols.

"Kara, what are you doing?" I asked.

"A puzzle. One that I love doing." Kara said.

"What kind of puzzle?" I asked.

"It's sort of like a Rubix cube just more complicated since you have to touch a series of buttons and press a few and twisting, turning, and sometimes-depending on the puzzle- pulling. A nice touch is you can place a reward in the middle of it if you built it right." Kara said.

I thought about the rubix cube in my drawer that I've been trying to unscramble.

"Can you solve a Rubix cube?" I asked.

Kara nodded and I went to get mine. I handed it to her and she looked at it. Then she began twisting and turning and a few seconds later, it was solved.

"What puzzles do you like Kara?" I asked since I too liked puzzles.

"Oh a bunch. I love strategy games too." Kara replied, "I love playing checkers and Chess after finding they were similar to my own favorite games from my home world."

"You play chess?" I asked.

Kara nodded, "I destroy Kal at it."

"Care to play?" I asked.

Kara was giddy, "Yes! I haven't played against someone in a while."

I got the chess board, "Black or white?"

"White."

I moved it so that Black was on my side and white was on Kara's.

"You first Lee." Kara said.

The game started and I moved. I didn't realize we had been playing for hours. We were down to just a few pieces each and Kara switched up her strategy to one I didn't recognize. Four moves later, she checkmated my king. I had lost. I was stunned. No one had beaten me. Even Lex couldn't beat me.

"How...what….how'd you do that?" I asked completely lost at how Kara did that.

Kara laughed, "I found that a couple strategies from a similar game on Krypton worked in Chess. The strategy I used last was one of them."

I was amused and awed, "How'd you learn?"

Kara gained a distant look, "I learned from the best. Aside from being the youngest person to be accepted into the Science Guild and a lawyer in the Rulings of Krypton, I learned strategy and other military like stuff from my Aunt. My Aunt Astra was one of the highest ranked Generals before she followed Non's plan. She taught me how to fight, how to strategize, how to stay quiet and learn from watching, how to study my surroundings. We would play strategic games and she would let me set it up. Then she would comment on if it would work or not and improve it slightly. It got to the point where I would beat her."

I was stunned, "You mentioned being the youngest to be accepted into the Science Guild. Were the Science Guilds like Universities? What were you going to study? It seems so...out of charactert." I asked, wanting to know. I knew a little from Lex's research on Superman but it was just the surface of the planet.

Kara sat up proudly and her whole posture takes on a regale edge that I have never seen before, "Being a member of the science guild might be analogous to a university if it was MIT and by attending, you mean working as a top level academic."

"What?!" I was shocked. I had no idea it was that intensive.

Kara, if possible, becomes even more smug, "I was performing advanced theoretical maths and bioengineering at a level consummate with my Uncle Jor-El, one of the Science Guild's greatest minds. I also worked in genetics and mechanical engineering."

"If you were so good at math, why did you take up journalism? Why not stick to something you were obviously good at?" I asked curious as to why she went a different route.

"Well, it was something new. Plus by the time I got to Earth, I already had multiple PHDs and Masters and Doctorates in several subjects. Physics, Bioengineering, Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Physics, Theoretical Maths and Mechanical Engineering are just a few. Heck, I could probably confuse Eliza with Bioengineering and she has six PHDs in the subject and the topics in Bioengineering." Kara said.

"What was the education like?" I managed to get out despite my shock.

Kara's smile took on a sad tone, "Education was different on Krypton. The codex designed me to be a scientist like my father and uncle as well as a lawyer. Sort of like a juggernaut. I learned and excelled at all subjects but my main focus was science based so my education was almost exclusively science based and everything else. The codex calculated that Krypton would fail in the near future and needed someone to carry on it's legacy and memory, so I was born. Kryptonian education isn't like here on Earth. It is done in pods by computers. Each individual student has a curriculum designed to them and it moves at a pace which suits their ability. I was a very fast learner. I spent nine years seven hours a day being taught about all the topics I mentioned. I had one hour of assigned fitness class per day and on hour of minor studies to help make us more rounded. I did art since that was the only thing I didn't have to learn. I still paint and sketch a bit here on Earth."

I never really considered how education was done on Krypton. I knew it was technologically more advanced than Earth, but never to that extent.

"You understand theoretical maths and bioengineering?" I ask. I thought Kara couldn't get much better but now?! Ooh don't even try me.

Kara smiles, "yes. My project for proof of ability was solving something Earth science calls the Kissing Numbers Problem. My solution solved the problem to the fifth dimension for the first time. I exceeded the earlier work of the great Kryptonian mathematician Pir-On. My test for the Military Guild was arranging a strategy that would get none killed from the allies, get the hostages out safely with little to no confrontation, and completely crippling the enemy so that they wouldn't have the resources to fight back. I did and they made me a General."

My mind went blank. Oh boy did this explain the knowing looks Kara gave me whenever I went on my tirades of complaining about useless people and how no one understood how to get a stinky little microchip to do what they wanted. Kara being a freaking genius just opened a whole bunch of questions. Me being me, I got Kara to help out on some projects and I shared the income that came in from a product that Kara had helped with. Now...don't even get me started on motorcycles.

AN: Next one is how Kara makes herself a motorcycle and a couple other technological gadgets that no one knows about...except maybe her wonderful smart Luthor friend Lena.
