AN: Hi y'all. In this one, Kara and Alex are teens. Kara is two years younger than Alex in this so Kara is thirteen and Alex is fifteen. Kara gets inspired to do something when watching Alex play a certain game. Oh boy is Eliza and Jeremiah in for a treat. ~Immortalshark
~FYI: Jeremiah is mentioned as is Eliza, but both are minor in this. Danvers Sister Duo Centric :)
*Eliza's POV*
The first week after Clark had dropped Kara off at our house, Kara had been quiet. She didn't really open up to Jeremiah or I much. She would still greet us though. It had been Alex who had gotten through to Kara.
After a little hiccup with Alex being annoyed, Alex had grown into the role of an older sister. Kara followed Alex everywhere.
At this point in life, Alex had been into the action type games, Assassin's Creed to be precise. Kara took a shield to the game and whenever Alex was playing, there was Kara sitting next to Alex just watching.
It wasn't until Alex and Kara started copying the moved from the game that I realized that Kara had control of her powers. Somehow Alex had been the one to help Kara and they found a way to control Kara's power output.
*Alex's POV*
I never knew that it would be this great to have a sister. After a short moment of jealousy, I realized that Kara needed a home and this was the best place for her.
We bonded and eventually attached at the hip. I taught her about Earth, she told about Krypton. I helped her with English, she helped with math and science. I had noticed that she had taken a shine to Assassin's Creed after she had come to see what I was doing one night.
"Alex? What are you doing?" Kara asked as she came over.
"Playing Assassin's Creed." I said as I made the character do a cool flip.
Kara had been completely stunned and had watched me play for hours. One day she came up with an idea.
"Lexie," Kara started.
I looked at her cause I knew that whatever she was going to say would be awesome.
"What do you think about trying some way to learn those moves and skills?" Kara said.
And thus began the learning of parkour and free running. As well as martial arts. Kara, being the literal genius she is, had created a band for herself that replicated the effects of a red sun, therefore rendering her powers useless. The band actually limited her powers and could control them. With it on, Kara could have all her powers, some of her powers, a specific power, or no powers at all.
And so we both learned the tricks, moves and skills of the game characters from Assassin's Creed. Among the learning, I also taught Kara how to surf so that was always fun during summer. Thankfully, we had a great spot to try out tricks and moves. It was also great that Kara was a crash pad. If I misjudged a distance or a drop, Kara would catch me. In fact, through parkouring and free running, we learned multiple skills. Such as rock climbing to improve our grip strength. When I had blown through a shoe due to a bit of a rough week, Kara came up with the idea of creating a shoe that would be light but perfect cushioning. So during school, Kara and I would pay attention to the polymers and materials that would work well in a shoe, light enough to not hinder the running but sturdy enough to support and embrace some of the impact.
Eventually, Kara found it and she measured my foot. She then made a pair for me and a pair for herself. We put it on and oh boy was it nice. It had great grip, great stability and best of all it was light. They had a similar style to cross country spikes but with more stability. In fact, Kara and I were three sport athletes. Both of us participated in our school's swim and dive team in the fall. In the winter, Kara did basketball while I did soccer. In the spring, we did Track and Field. Apart from all of that, we found ways to keep up with our parkour and free running skills, martial arts, and surfing. Kara and I were both smart enough to keep up with our homework and heck sometimes when Kara was bored she'd do my homework.
I found it amazing how our free running abilities transferred to our sports and vice versa. For cross country it increased our endurance and stamina so we could do lines longer and easier. I also found myself hopping over obstacles that most of the other runners ran around, wasting energy. Kara had followed as well. Thankfully we were always in a group together so we could do stuff like that. For Kara, the jumping ability was nice because she excelled in basketball. For me in soccer, it was easy to trip people up with footwork. During Track and Field, long jump was simply a test of precision landing, high jump was a way to get up a wall easier, javelin was just fun, hurdles was basically fences and sprints were fun.
It was my senior year of high school and Kara's sophomore year when we found out about American Ninja Warrior. The only problem about the course was the warped wall but that was nothing. So Kara and I decided to try out the junior courses and just have some fun. We actually decided to race and we were neck and neck. Kara hit the button a second before I did and we smiled. It was fun because it was a different way to apply our skills.
Thankfully for me, my skills transferred to my work at the DEO. It actually made the obstacles so much easier and just all around fun. When Kara had become Supergirl and we were working together at last, we would have races at the obstacle course.
"Hey Supergirl." I called to my sister.
"Yes?" she turned.
"Care for a race on the old obstacle course?" I asked as I pointed at the course that was currently being used by the recruits.
Kara's eyes brightened as she skimmed over the layout, "Let's go show those recruits how it's done shall we?"
I smirked at her and we made our way over. Thank God that today was a quiet day so this was possible. Vasquez had been overseeing today's training and saw us coming.
*Vasquez's POV*
I was getting very annoyed at these recruits. Heck, some of them couldn't even make it half way through! Some were scared of the drops in the course, some were scared of the climbing, and heck some of them were even scared of jumping a wall.
"Agent Vasquez."
I turned to see Agent Danvers and Supergirl coming towards me.
"Attention on deck!" I yelled.
Every single one of the recruits stopped what they were doing. Agent Danvers greeted them all before turning to me.
"Vas, Supergirl and I were going to race each other through this course. Perhaps we can show them how the course is truly meant to be run." Danvers said.
"Of course. Please do." I said.
I had the recruits come by me to watch the race. Supergirl had changed into a pair of DEO pants and kept her suit top. I started them and watched as they both went at it. The very first ladder they scaled was tall and they just dropped from the very top. Next was a pair of uneven bars that you had to go over the tall one and under the short one. Then through some mini hurdles, crawl through a sand pit with wire over the top so they couldn't stand up. Then it was on to spaced out single steps that was only for one foot each. Then it was a pair of bars that you had to get over. Then it was a balance beam and onto a bigger wall, one that someone had to use their legs to get them to the top and the arms to get them over. Then it was a group of high and low bars, the high ones you had to go over and the low ones you had to crawl under. Then it was a plank of wood that you had to get over the top of. Then you had a climb of increasing height steps that if you didn't go fast you wouldn't make it. Next was a weird wall followed by a small wall. Then there was a ditch where you had to go into and climb out. It was followed by another ladder, a big wall, a gap, and four walls. At the end of it, there was a cargo net climb to a platform where you'd have to make your way down in the safest way possible or jump into a pool of water that was about twenty feet deep.
I watched in amazement as both Supergirl and Agent Danvers made their way through the course. Both were really fast and Agent Danvers finished just a second before Supergirl. They had big smiles on their faces as they rough housed just slightly.
"And that recruits is how it's done." Agent Danvers said.
With that she walked off with Supergirl in tow.
*Alex's POV*
That was so much fun! Kara and I haven't raced in a while and so we took the opportunity. Kara now has to get me food from that one cart in Chicago even though she had planned on it anyway. I know, I know, I was falling back into old habits with Kara. However, with her here, I can get even more stuff done. She helped me with lab type stuff and identifying aliens, pathogens and other stuff. Honestly, I feel as if I work better with Kara at my side. I could do it on my own but with Kara it gets done faster. Both of us can do the same things. It was a silent agreement between the both of us when we first started learning parkour. We both should know how to do something, if one of us got it first we made sure the other got it as well. It translated to our studies as well. Except of course, Kara was genetically made to do math, science, and strategic abilities. I couldn't even try to compete with her brain and that was fine. I helped her with history and Earth tactics.
I will admit that I have pulled off some strategies that Kara told me about and they work well. If I had some heavy lifting to do, Kara would be there to help with that. Like I can remember asking for an Allen wrench to pull open a defused bomb but she just came over and popped the top. Now her brain skills are fun and all, but we can't really show them off when she's in just Kara mode. Her eating skills however are another story.
AN: Up next is Kara and Alex's adventures with eating competitions.
