AN: Alright, so, this one started out as Kara good at sports and went to Kara being in the military. My brain has been on the armed forces since that is what I want to do. Anyway, I do not know much about the ranks from the Seals since that's the service I used for Kara. Also, with my thoughts on Kara and Alex's bond being the strong bond that it is, Alex should gain a little bit of Kara's abilities, just not at the level of Kara of course.

Anything in here about the military, most of it is from my knowledge of it and my imagination. So some facts are exaggerated. I would recommend doing some research on what the US Naval Seals do on a daily basis.

Enjoy:)~Immortalshark

*Alex's POV*

It had been two weeks since Kara came to my family. For Christmas, I had wished for a sibling. Someone to take care of and play with. I had gotten one and Kara came into my life. She was such a cute little thing. I remember looking out my window to catch a glimpse of our new family member and saw the blonde. She had looked up in my direction.

Kara was quiet at first, not really talking to my parents. Two days after Superman had left her here, I found my mom and my dad trying to coax Kara out of her hiding spot in the basement. I remember kneeling in front of Kara and began to talk. Just softly and eventually, Kara had came out and had sat in my lap. That moment, began the bond that I cherished so much. No matter what was going on, she was always there. At the dumb science fairs, and all the rest, she was there with a big smile on her face.

Being the big nerd I am, I decided to help Kara out and find out what her limits are. So over the summer, I tested her resistance to heat and cold. If she could withstand the cold from all the natural cold, then could she stand her own freeze breath? Or heat vision? Through that, I helped Kara with her English, and she taught me Kryptonese. I helped her with English and History homework when my parents sent her to school with me, and then she helped me in math and science class.

I had taken Kara to my summer preseason for swimming, since swimming is a fall sport and so the preseason is in the summer. Kara was up in the stands, just watching us do our stretches and warm ups as well as our workouts. About a month into preseason, my coach called it club, but we all knew it was preseason, my coach had looked at Kara.

"Hey Kara." she said.

Kara looked up from her sketchbook, "yes?"

"Would you like to come try? Today is going to be a bit of a testing day. Finding out who our divers are and such." my coach said.

Kara had an excited look in her eye, "I would love to, but I don't have a swimsuit."

My coach just smiled, "That's alright, I've got extra."

Kara followed my coach and I stood outside waiting. Kara came out in a black speedo and her hair was up. Due to her Kryptonian genes, she was toned for her age. At first it was seeing if Kara knew how to swim. It turned out that she did. She joined us in our testing. Me being me, I was competitive and decided to race Kara in the 100m dash and the 200m dash for sprints in the water. In doing so, both of us had gotten high marks and my coach decided to put both of us in on the roster for the sprinters.

I found that Kara loved diving. She was doing flips and tricks off of the 5m and my coach was impressed. It was hard to impress her on the diving since that was her event.

"Kara. Go up to the 7m. I wanna see what you can do." my coach said.

Kara got out of the water and just nodded. She went up to the 7m board and did the same things. Just adding on more tricks. She had managed to do a quadruple flip off the 7. With that stunt, my coach moved her up to the very top. Kara performed well. She had even managed to land with minimal splashing.

Kara and I found out that she could withstand the pressure down in the deeper parts of the water. And so, Kara was our high diver. Good thing was that Kara had been moved up to my grade since she was bored in the math and science that she learned when she was like five years old.

We talked into the nights about everything. Things that happened in school, things that happened outside of school. Sure I had my other friends, but I found out that they really weren't after finding them picking on Kara. The girls on the swim team absolutely loved Kara and we all did our best at practices and at competitions. I knew that Kara was happy having something to distract her from everything that happened. I found that she had a knack for almost all the sports that we introduced to her so once she had control over her powers, and the little bracelet that emits the same effects of a red sun that Kara could control, Kara took off.

I took swimming, soccer, and track and field during the school year. Kara did a lot, she did cross country and swimming in the fall, basketball and wrestling in the winter, track and field as a multi-event athlete. For track and field, she did pole vault, javelin, and hurdles for field events and then the 100, 200, mile for running events. Of course, I was her biggest supporter as she was for me. As I was running, I could always hear her over everyone and I would somehow find it in me to run faster. When I was done, Kara was always there and helping me out.

We both did martial arts over the summer, mma to be exact since we would learn all sorts of different styles of martial arts. Because we were so active and smart, it translated to our work when we got there. Kara had been scouted by the Naval Academy and was one of the hot runners. I was at MIT and Kara was at the Academy. Whenever I could, I would go to her meets and games cheering for her. She always heard me as she ran faster with a beaming smile. She still had the bracelet and from what I could tell, her muscle had grown too. She was always toned ever since she came, but now it was more defined.

Honestly? She's my favorite alien. At first, I had been starstruck by Superman, because he was a superhero and he saved people. Then Kara came and my favorite changed to her. Superman had basically dumped her with my family and then left. I didn't like how she came to us, but I was glad she did, because now I don't know how I lived without her. She's my little sister and we protected each other.

She was the one who inspired me to keep going even when it was hard. Especially in college, they were challenging my knowledge and I was struggling a little. Kara had been at the Academy now for a year and is now able to call for a much longer period of time. It was her calls that kept me from doing something I would regret. I was doing math homework and was trying to figure out this damned problem when my phone rang. I looked and of course, it was Kara.

"Hey you." I said as I picked it up.

"Hi." Kara said.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm in my free period right now. So I took the time to call ya and check in." Kara said.

I smiled, "I'm doing good, having trouble on this one problem, but no biggie."

We switched to face call and I showed her the problem. She solved it and helped me out. Once that happened, I asked her about life at the academy and she was enjoying it. She was at the top of her class and she didn't have to tone down her smarts. Of course, she still had to, but not as much as she used to. We talked until she had to go.

I ended up being recruited for the DEO right out of college. Kara couldn't come because the way her summer was laid out, but my mom did. I smiled softly but I really wanted Kara to come. I was waiting patiently for my name to be called up. I was lost in thought, so I didn't see a new person get added into the back of the line of teachers and staff. My name was called up and I headed out on stage. Then I walked down the line to shake hands with my professors. Then I got to the last person. I was shocked, there she was, there's my sister. I did not care that I had tears running down my face as I hugged her.

"Kara." I said.

"Hey Lexie. I made it." she said.

I smiled and just held her. We got home and she told me that she managed to get her summer flipped so that her month break was at the beginning instead of at the end. We spent the month catching up and playing together, of course all of the cuddles and snuggles. Eliza was happy that both of us were home. I found a job at a lab in National City, and Kara helped me move before she had to ship out to finish out her summer. I then found out that the 'job at a lab' was a job at the DEO. The director had recruited me and so began my career in the DEO. Kara was in her final year at the Academy when I was a year into the DEO. I had to be at her graduation, so I told Henshaw that I had to go. He let me and I was happy. I got a flight out to Annapolis and made it to her graduation.

She was the first one they called up. She spotted me and her eyes lit up in happiness. She kept her bearing until the very end and once they were dismissed, I found myself barreled into by a very happy Kryptonian. I held onto her and we both just enjoyed the feel of the other in our arms. Plus, Kara was only 20 so she could honestly retire and be 36 since her years at the Academy counts towards her retirement. Kara had graduated at the top of her class and had gotten first pick at what she wanted. She picked the SEALs and so she was off for training.

Over the years, Kara and I kept in contact and after sixteen years, and then counting her years at the academy, she retired from the SEALs as a top officer, a Vice Admiral or O9. Of course, when she retired she was only 36, so she could get another job. I was happy that because of the link I had with Kara, I gained some of her abilities, not to the level of her of course. It was easier to do physical activities after about a weeks worth of doing a specific activity, I was more resilient to injury, and my senses were enhanced slightly. An added bonus is that both of us looked like we age slowly, so I was 37 and I looked like I was in my twenties.

*Kara's POV*

I decided to see if I could get a job at CatCo just on a basic resume. Of course, my actual resume is more impressive, but I wanted to see how I would do without it. So I went for an assistant to Cat Grant. I went in to my interview and acted like I was sort of new at this. I met Cat Grant and wasn't intimidated by her standoffish attitude. It would take a lot more to intimidate me than her.

I went through the interview and got the job. You all know the rest of the deal. I spent the next two years as Cat's assistant. Of course, she was observant so she found out that I was a high ranked officer. I think she's fond of me since I could see the hints of a smirk on her face whenever I say something that's dry and witty to a person who deserves it. She did not hide it when I roasted Dirk Armstrong when he tried and failed to take over CatCo.

Then, Alex's plane decided to go down, and I caught it. You all know how that went, except I put it down on the edge of the bay. After a couple weeks of me doing some Supergirling and Cat Grant sending me knowing looks, I was brought into the DEO. I knew about the DEO due to my time in service so it wasn't a surprise. What was a little bit of a surprise was that Alex was an agent. I say a little bit but I understood her need to not say anything about it. Rao knows that I have many classified information that I can't tell anyone about.

It was two weeks in after I was brought into the DEO and after I took out the Klingon, Alex was going to 'train' me.

We were going to spar when I spotted the obstacle course.

"Hey Lexie." I said.

"Yea?" she said.

"Wanna race through that obstacle course for the fun of it? We haven't done any type of competitions since high school and I still have my generator." I said with a smirk.

She copied that smirk, "Is that even a question?"

So we headed over to the obstacle course and after one of the cadets ran through it, Alex and I went. It was basically a learning point for the recruits. I had fun rounding up aliens that were giving my city some problems. What was not fun was practically having to fight my aunt. I had to bring her in for questioning and I found out that my mother had used me to bring her out of hiding just to arrest her. I also found out that Astra wasn't the one to do anything, it was Non. I spent the time that Astra was in our custody, just talking and we shared our perspectives on Krypton. I managed to get through to my Aunt. She and those loyal to her gave up on their pursuit on trying to fix humanity through force, but through other means, such as showing them how to use hedrons and technology that helped Earth.

Non and I faced off in a challenge and I beat him. He surrendered and so we locked him in one of the nicer cells. The one's that held aliens that were dangerous to others. Actually, most of the aliens in that section didn't have any malintent, they were just in there for the safety of humans since they produce something that is harmful to the human race.

It was when General Lane tried to take command at the DEO when I pulled rank. I was at the DEO in my Kara Danvers persona when it happened. Lucy was the director at the DEO since J'onn was revealed. Lucy looked uncomfortable.

"General, I believe that you do not have the authority to bring your men in here. These agents are doing their jobs." I said in a tone that left little room for argument.

He sneered at me, "And what authority over me do you think you have as a lowly assistant?"

One of his men looked at me and then his eyes widened in recognition. I saw him stiffen. I stalked up to the General.

"I believe as an Officer I have authority over any enlisted people." I said.

He still didn't get it, "Really? You? An officer?"

The man that recognized me covered his mouth with his hand and coughed. I assume he was holding in a laugh.

"You there, Rogers." I said addressing him.

"Yes ma'am." he said as he popped to attention.

"Would you be so kind to tell your General who I am as it seems that you recognize me." I said.

"Aye ma'am. You are Vice Admiral K. Danvers. The first woman to be an officer of the Navy Seals and a very fast riser in ranks ma'am. You earned your rank by working hard at the tasks given and through your smarts and tactics. One of the youngest to retire from the service." he said.

"Thank you Rogers." I said.

He looked back at General Lane who looked like he was sucking on a lemon. I pressed a button and my dress uniform appeared. General Lane made a noise, he scoffed.

"Retired? Yeah right. You're what, twenty?" he said.

"I may look like I'm in my twenties General, but in fact, I'm in my mid thirties. I graduated high school early when I was sixteen, got scouted by the Naval Academy for my outstanding performances in my sports, and for my grades. I went into the Naval Academy and decided to go through the Seal option. I did and I made it." I said.

"I call bull." he said.

I raised an eyebrow before pulling out my certifications, one is my commission, several are saying that I ranked up, and then the final one that was signed by the president for my retirement and if needed, I would come out of retirement if then need me to.

His eyes widened in shock and disbelief. He immediately shot to attention.

"Apologies ma'am." he said.

I glared at him, "Now, you're prejudiced mind probably said that all aliens are dangerous, that aliens are invading your country. But what you don't understand because you are blinded by your fear of aliens that those aliens are refugees, fleeing from war torn homes where if they returned they would be slaughtered. Or they have no home to return to because their home no longer exists. Most aliens that act up are usually acting up because they need to survive somehow and they will go to any means to get what they need. Now, some aliens just like to fight and cause trouble regardles and those are the aliens that should be locked up."

"Why? Why protect them? Isn't your duty to this country first?" he said.

I saw Lucy look down.

"No." I said and turned to his men. "Fall IN!"

They fell in and then I addressed them.

"Can one of you tell me who or what you are fighting for?" I asked.

Rogers was the one to answer, "I fight to make this country safe so that my little sister can continue with her dreams with no fear because she knows her big brother is going to do his best to protect her and others."

The others answered similarly.

"Wonderful. At rest." I commanded.

General Lane looked angry, "My duty, my oath, was to protect this country. Aliens coming into this country are not allowed."

I glared at him, "Lane, as a father, your duty is to show your children what it means to be a father, what a good man is supposed to be. Your duty to your country is important, but if you lose sight of what you are fighting for then why are you fighting? You lose your motivation to keep fighting because you get stuck."

He eventually left with his men. Once he was gone, Lucy looked at me.

"Kara?" she said.

"Yes Lucy?" I said.

"You are my favorite alien right now." she said.

I smiled at her and we bonded. General Lane took sometime and thought about what he was doing and had a change of heart. He was making an effort to change and be a better father for Lucy and Lois. Both women were skeptical of course but eventually they got onto a decent relationship. It wasn't a super close one, but he was at least still contacting them to check in.

J'onn was reinstated as director and the rest we all know.

AN: What do you think of General Lane having a change of heart? Good? Bad? The sports one is coming. I had an idea from watching Brute Showdown where its a two day competition between four women/men from four different specialties, weight lifting, powerlifting, crossfit, and bodybuilding. If y'all like that idea, then let me know which specialty you think Kara should be and if you can think of a couple other specialties that would make it more interesting, such as callisthenics.
