Part 9: Final Limit

Gundam Astraea II roared through the night sky, its GN Drives flaring with radiant energy. The eldritch abomination clinging to the tower unleashed a chorus of guttural shrieks, its writhing tentacles flailing as if to consume the very air around it. Despite the monstrous size disparity, Ave held his ground, piloting Astraea II with a deftness born from countless battles.

"Haru, brace yourself," Ave warned as he pushed the controls forward. Astraea II's thrusters ignited, propelling the Gundam in a dazzling arc toward the creature.

Ave's grip tightened around the controls, and a determined gleam flickered in his eyes. His mind raced through countless battle simulations and real-life encounters. Each move needed to be precise, every evasive manoeuvre timed perfectly. "Stay calm," he reminded himself. "Astraea II's response time is fast, but this thing's faster." Sweat beaded on his forehead, but he kept his focus razor-sharp.

Einhard, still seated on his lap, maintained a firm grip on the console, her heterochromatic eyes narrowing with fierce determination. Through Asteion's linked systems, she channelled her mana, amplifying Astraea II's performance far beyond its intended design parameters. The entire cockpit thrummed with energy.

Her heart raced as she watched Ave manoeuvre Astraea II with breathtaking precision, evading tendrils that lashed out like serpents. Each motion spoke of discipline and courage honed through countless battles. She found herself momentarily mesmerized.

"Ave-kun's amazing," she thought, her chest swelling with admiration as she watched him deftly navigate Astraea II through the chaos. "He's pushing Astraea II to its limits without breaking a sweat. No wonder he's a Gundam Meister." Her gaze softened, warmth blossoming in her chest. "He's incredible—and so selfless. Even when everything feels impossible, Ave-kun always finds a way. I... I need to be strong too, for him, for both of us."

Ave's jaw clenched as he threaded Astraea II through the onslaught. "This thing is reading my moves faster than I expected," he thought grimly. "But if Haru's amplifying the system, I can push Astraea even harder."

"Haru, status check?" Ave's voice cut through her thoughts, steady but urgent.

"Performance at 135 percent," she reported, her voice steady despite the chaos. "Tio's monitoring core stability, but we'll need to watch the heat levels."

Asteion meowed affirmatively from its perch, its eyes glowing as it synchronized with Astraea II's systems.

"Got it," Ave acknowledged. He tightened his grip on the controls. "Time to end this."

Below, the group of AMP officers watched in stunned awe as the unidentified giant robot clashed with the eldritch monstrosity. Sparks and energy bursts lit up the night, casting eerie shadows across the corrupted tower. Conversations sparked among the officers, disbelief mingling with awe.

"Is that... some kind of advanced military tech?" one officer murmured, eyes wide with shock.

"There's no record of a giant like that in our defense systems," another added, gripping her weapon tightly. "What is it doing here? Is it really fighting for us?"

The shrine maiden narrowed her eyes, her voice calm yet resolute. "Whatever it is, it's our ally right now." She glanced at the purifying seals glowing at the tower's base. "And we need to trust it."

One officer, still staring at the colossal machine's fluid movements, muttered, "This is unbelievable... like something out of a dream or a nightmare."

The shrine maiden's lips curved into a faint smile. "Sometimes, hope comes from the most unexpected places." Her gaze returned to the towering eldritch beast. "Let's make sure we're ready to support it."

She then stepped forward, her expression resolute. With a fluid motion, she pulled out several talismans and flung them at the base of the tower. The paper seals glowed with purifying light, creating a rippling wave of energy that momentarily distracted the abomination.

"Haru, now!" Ave urged.

Einhard's eyes gleamed with determination. "Tio says this is our chance! Attack now, Ave-kun!" Her pulse quickened, heart pounding as she watched Ave in complete synchronization with Astraea II. For a fleeting moment, hope surged within her, driving away the shadows of despair.

Ave didn't hesitate. Astraea II's GN Sword gleamed with deadly intent as he initiated his signature move—the Starburst Stream.

The Gundam became a blur of motion, executing sixteen precise, devastating slashes in rapid succession. Each strike cleaved through the abomination's writhing tentacles and grotesque body parts, sending chunks of corrupted flesh tumbling into the abyss below.

For a brief, exhilarating moment, it seemed they had triumphed. The eldritch monstrosity shuddered, its form destabilizing as dark ichor spewed from its wounds.

"Did we get it?" Einhard whispered, hope flickering in her chest.

But that hope was short-lived.

The creature let out a deafening roar that reverberated through the atmosphere. The very air seemed to vibrate with malevolence. Asteion meowed urgently, its eyes wide with warning.

"Tio says something bad is coming," Einhard translated, her voice tense.

From the bleak sky above, hundreds of demonic winged humanoid creatures descended like a storm of nightmares. Their grotesque forms tore through the AMP defenders below, scattering the brave officers like leaves in a tempest.

Ave's heart clenched at the sight. "We can't let this turn into another massacre," he thought fiercely. "I won't let it happen."

Einhard's breath caught in her throat as she watched the chaos unfold. Her pulse quickened as despair crept into her thoughts. "No... Not again." Her hands clenched into fists. "We have to help them, Ave-kun!"

She made a move to unbuckle herself, ready to leap into the fray, but Ave's arm shot out, holding her firmly in place.

"No, Haru," he said firmly, his voice edged with desperation. "You can't just jump down there!"

Tears of frustration welled in her eyes. "But they need us! We can't just sit here and watch!"

"I know," Ave said, his voice softening. "But if we lose you, who's going to guide me through this fight? We need to stay together."

Einhard bit her lip, her heart torn between the desire to protect and the need to trust Ave's judgment. She could feel his genuine concern, his desire to keep her safe even in this madness. Reluctantly, she nodded. "Okay. But we have to do something."

"We will," Ave promised, his resolve unwavering. "We always do."

As the demonic horde wreaked havoc below, a sudden flash of light drew their attention. One of the female AMP officers, a fierce-looking woman with long, dark blue hair, stepped forward. Her eyes blazed with defiance as she raised her hand.

A ripple of energy surged through the air as a sentient, eight-foot-long alien-looking sword materialized in her grasp. The weapon pulsed with a strange, otherworldly energy.

Show the name of holy spirits of Sol and Mars, Soral and Baltzabel! Give the power of gold and steel to my sword! I am under Gaea's feet!

Without hesitation, the woman leaped toward the eldritch abomination, her voice ringing out with unyielding determination.

"Your time is up, Lucifer Hawk!"

Einhard's breath hitched. "Ave-kun, did she just—?"

"Yeah," Ave confirmed, awe creeping into his voice. "She's taking the fight to it."

As the sword-wielding officer soared through the air, her blade gleaming like a beacon of hope, Einhard and Ave knew that this battle was far from over. The eldritch monstrosity roared, black tendrils twisting and flailing in rage as they sought to crush their defiant foes.

Einhard's breath caught as she watched the officer move with lethal grace. Her strikes were precise, each swing of the strange blade cutting through the monstrous flesh with flashes of otherworldly energy. "She's incredible," Einhard thought in awe. "Where did she get that sword? And who is she really?"

Ave's fingers tightened around the controls of Astraea II. "If she's giving us an opening, we can't waste it," he thought grimly. He pushed the thrusters to maximum, the GN Drives roaring as the Gundam soared higher. "Haru, we need to synchronize Asteion's mana flow with the GN Sword. Can you handle it?"

Einhard snapped out of her amazement. "On it! Tio, full mana sync!"

The cat-like entity meowed sharply, its eyes glowing as streams of shimmering energy flowed through Astraea II's systems. The cockpit thrummed with power, and Einhard felt a surge of connection to the machine.

"Mana flow and GN Particles' output stabilized," she confirmed, her voice steady. "You're good to go, Ave-kun."

Ave's gaze hardened. "Then let's finish this together."

Below, the AMP officers watched in stunned disbelief. The sight of their comrade wielding an impossible weapon, alongside a towering Gundam, was surreal beyond words.

"Is this even real?" one officer muttered, his voice trembling.

"If it isn't, I don't want to wake up," another said, gripping her rifle tightly.

The shrine maiden, her expression serene but resolute, stepped forward. "This is our chance. Focus on supporting them. The purification seals are holding, but we need to keep the corruption contained."

The officers nodded, determination replacing their shock as they moved to reinforce the barriers.

Back in the sky, Astraea II closed the distance to the eldritch abomination. The GN Sword gleamed with a fierce light, now infused with Asteion's mana. Ave's voice was steady, filled with unshakable resolve.

"Haru, this is it. Starburst Stream: Full Burst Mode."

Einhard's heart raced. "Go, Ave-kun! Give it everything!"

The Gundam became a blur of light and motion, executing a dazzling series of slashes that carved through the abomination's grotesque form. Each strike left trails of shimmering mana and GN Particles, destabilizing the creature further. Below, the AMP officers and the sword-wielding woman watched in awe as Astraea II unleashed its full power.

With one final, devastating slash, the creature let out a deafening wail, its form collapsing in on itself. Black ichor evaporated into the air, leaving only a fading shadow of malevolent energy.

Silence hung in the air, broken only by the crackle of residual energy.

Einhard let out a shaky breath. "Did we... did we win?"

Ave's voice was calm but firm. "For now. But stay sharp. There might be more surprises."

The sword-wielding officer landed gracefully beside them, her blade shimmering before dissolving into particles of light. She turned to face Astraea II, her expression unreadable.

"Thank you for the assist," Ave said, his voice carrying through the comms.

The woman nodded, her gaze steady. "We all have our roles to play. This isn't over yet. Be ready for what's coming next."

Einhard shivered at the ominous warning but squared her shoulders. "We'll be ready. Right, Ave-kun?"

Ave's lips curved into a determined smile. "Always."
