Son of Amaterasu

Prologue

It's over. The fourth shinobi war had been won. The Allied forces were cheering as all the tailed beasts began to gather around Naruto, Sasuke, and the Sage of Six paths. The kage arrive, both living and undying, as the most legendary debriefing was being wrapped up. "…and then, after we sealed her away in that dimension, you all summoned us back." Naruto reports surprisingly calmly, and rather stoically. Ay nodded. "Very well."

Nodding as his forces began to close in, men and women of all the five great nations cheer as they arrive around the tailed beasts and kages. This halted when Minato called out, his frown prominent and concerning. "It's time, Naruto…"

Minato then looks to his successor, who was sharing his grim look that was slowly shifting to acceptance. "Tsunade."

Tsunade and Naruto both share weary looks, before sighing in unison, nodding with a reply. "Right."

As they moved forward, crossing the ashen and grey bedrock ground towards those returned from the dead and further away from the side of life as if a metaphor. Only a few knew that it was a literal one.

As they stopped among the returned, they both turned back to face the others and this was when they all began to glow in unison, Naruto and Tsunade along with them. This caused many eyes to widen in shock and a few in horror. Kakashi jerked forward, asking confusingly and bewildered at this change of pace. "Lady Tsunade, Naruto. What's going on?"

Naruto offered a tired, weary smile that was hollow and sorrowful as he explained. "My role as the child of prophecy is over. Peace is achieved and the deal completed."

As he scratched the back of his neck, confusion spread through the ranks of the alliance causing many to question. Child of prophecy? Did the Kami have a role in all this?

Tsunade spoke next, her form beginning to pale and cracks appearing. "Thus, the deal we had made with the shinigami and the celestial court is over. Our role done."

A sigh before she looked at Naruto, the two sharing a soft smile, before looking back at the silver haired Jonin, Tsunade ordered as only her role allowed. "Kakashi; I appoint you as my successor."

Her face was growing paler to a deathly complexion, another expression of despair briefly crossed her features until her grandfather's hand rested on her shoulder that drew her gaze to meet his soft smile and approving nod that radiated pride. Tsunade smile was filled with sorrow and regret as she then turned to her son of sorts, no. He was her son.

Naruto matched her gaze firmly, her expression reflected back at her on him, and he nodded with acceptance of this development. A silent conversation between them as their bodies continued to decay at a rapid pace.

It was his pink haired kunoichi who burst forward, panic and tears in equal measure as Sakura cried out. "How – how did this happen?"

Naruto spoke flatly, still breaking apart. "I died."

Gasps from the living, acceptance from the fellow dead returned.

Sakura looked like she had been physically hit by that statement. How did she not know? When did this happen? How long ago – she eventually managed to voice these. "When…?"

She sniffled, wiping her emerald eyes of tears gaining strength from the hand of her sensei on her shoulder. Sakura continued. "How did you…?"

Naruto offered a knowing smirk, glancing between his teammates before offering up those not in the know what they wanted to know. "I was hit by two assassination jutsu's, A-rank. The Chidori – to the chest, remember? Even my inate healing had it's limits."

Ignoring the shifting glare on the paling Uchiha, Naruto continued as Tsunade joined his side. "After I died in that…"

He took a breath, deep, dry, and ash filled, but none could overlook the regret it held. Naruto continued. "My bond with Tsunade-ka-chan allowed her to be pulled along to face the shinigami at my side."

Tsunade answering next, speaking seamlessly after him. "A deal was made."

Their forms lost colouration, the cracks leaving no surface unmarred as she continued. "I surrendered half my remaining life force. Used it to support us both."

Naruto took over the hokage, mother-figure, and one who sacrificed everything for him. "It was enough to get us to this point."

Tsunade retook the reigns, all eyes following to her. "So now that his destiny has been fulfilled, peace attained, and you are united."

She smiled softly, tears running down her cheeks. "We have to leave the rest to you all.

Both of them finally shed their failing shells, the other reanimated following their lead and now they were all in their spectres, ghostly forms. Naruto beams at them all, none missed the tears being shed by him as he sniffled. "I love you all, my precious friends. I'll miss you all."

"Naruto…" Kakashi whispered, as all the remaining Kage step forward and bow before the chakra ghost. Ay was the first to speak, bellowing. "Leave it too us, boy!"

Mei followed up, speaking briefly. "You gave up everything, defied even death, just to save us and bring peace. It will not be wasted."

Many nodding along with her decree, when the smallest, yet oldest, kage spoke next, Onoki grumbled. "I must admit – you have earned my respect. So stubborn that you even made death wait."

He broke into a grin, nodding as he saluted. "You will be honoured on our Stone of Heroes."

"Thanks, ji-san." Naruto spoke just as their spirits floated from their ashen bodies, his and Tsunade's bodies that fell limply to the side, both partially turned to dust and covered in ash. The two glanced around briefly, before Naruto replied. "We'll be going now…"

As he says that the other shinobi that died in the three day war all begin to appear as spirits all smiling and cheering, the eyes of all widened as they looked upon this development. Itachi was among them, and whispered to his brother, "Time to be the light."

Sasuke went wide eyed at that, but Naruto bellowed out, waving as he began to float off towards the pure lands. "Live peacefully and we'll be waiting for you guys on the other side."

He snapped to his oldest friend, brother in all but chakra, and called out. "Oh, and Kurama! Live free… for both of us."

No one dared comment at the fact that the tailed beast was teary eyed, tears running down its muzzle, and Kurama chuckled. "You bet, kit. Rest well. We'll take over from here."

Every tailed beast bowed their heads, and tails, as the departed leave for the pure lands. Naruto flew alongside his dad on his left, Tsunade on his right, the first two Hokages alongside her. Naruto smiled and the last words the living heard from him were. "Hey dad, how's mum going to take this?"

It was on this day, the tenth of October, exactly seventeen years after the Kyuubi incident in the leaf, that would forever be known as the day of peace within the Elemental Nations. The day the Child of Prophecy was born, then died, then cheated even death to break the cycle of hatred and herald the age of peace for the rest of the shinobi age.

"Truly an honourable shinobi." Ay commented as he led a bow, his shinobi providing an honour guard for the hastily gathering crowd. Mei then steps forward, ordering promptly. "We shall escort him home!"

The entire force, regardless of station, saluted as Kakashi and Sasuke lift Naruto's body upon a medical stretcher, with the heartbroken Shizune and tear filled Sakura taking Tsunade's, all walking through the channel of shinobi and samurai alike.

Mifune, the leader of Iron Country and head samurai spoke with a grave undertone of respect and honour. "Let us honour them with an escort home."

None of his samurai wasted a breath before they move to honour guard positions. It would take a full day and a half before both the last Senju and last Uzumaki were laid to rest back home, among their family.

Chapter One; Rebirth

Celestial Domain

Naruto awoke within a bedroom of unknown origin. The breeze was gentle, the sun warm as he sat up somewhat confused as the oriental furnishings were familiar yet alien at the same time. The room was clean and tidy and fully made from wood with a large window out to what could only be a paradise.

As he sat up from his white silk sheets, he was immediately made aware that he was no longer in his normal orange jumpsuit but rather a simple white shirt and pants. Swinging around his bare feet meet the soft warm wooden panels, and just as he stands there was a knock on the door that prompts him to answer it.

Upon pulling it open, he was surprised to see Tsunade there, who smiles as she spoke. "Ah, your awake now too."

To which he nods to, Naruto asking. "Where are we, baa-chan?"

A tick mark on her forehead, as she growls. "Oi. I thought…"

Tsunade was cut off by his abrupt hug that silenced her. It took a few moments before she returned it, with all the warmth she could muster as his whispered words hit her. "Thank you for everything, ka-chan."

A blooming warmth from those words in her chest allowed a gentle. "It's alright sochi."

"Ahem." Both blondes look over to see a beautiful woman looking to be in her late teens with black hair in a hime cut, and black eyes that seems to captivatingly elevate her appearance somehow. Wearing a very stylish white kimono with black embroidery that holds numerous coloured jewels upon it, but they were discreet enough to look regal instead of tactless.

It seemed to hug her perfectly proportional appearance, yet the grey Haori also drew their eyes briefly, before landing on her. Tsunade was the one to answer, not breaking her hold on Naruto, eyes loaded with caution and suspicion. "Who are you and where are we?"

The woman smiled and nodded, expecting these questions, and answered. "My name is Amaterasu, Tsunade Senju."

She then looked to the blond male, who's eyes were razor sharp as he looked upon her, even now he desired to protect his mother-figure she mused as she spoke up. "And Naruto Uzumaki. We have brought you here to Takamagahara as we may be in need of your help, so to speak."

Tsunade spoke up first, still as cautious as before. "You did not answer our questions. We are supposed to be heading to the pure lands. Not this…"

Amaterasu raised her dainty hand and the Senju paused, allowing the ravenette to speak up. "Yes. The shinigami has personally escorted your friends and family to the pure lands. They are safe however, you two are a different matter."

Both shinobi tensed at that, taking it as a threat, but the goddess of the sun smiled softly as she gestured to the sudden table and chairs that neither Leaf shinobi swore was there a moment ago. That's when they finally blinked. The whole area had changed.

Takamagahara: Amaterasu's Office

Amaterasu strolled through the office from the door the two shinobi were now standing in front of, and she waves them over towards the set of sofas on the side of the room. Naruto looks to Tsunade, who looks back and sees that he is following her lead for a change. If only he was this obedient when they were still alive.

Sighing, she nods, and pulls Naruto along with her as she follows to the sofa's and drops down beside their apparent host, directly opposite her with her boy at her side, Tsunade spoke again. "So, care to explain everything?"

Amaterasu nodded as she poured the three cups of green tea, and placing the pot aside then taking up her own cup and looking between the two of her guests and began. "Long story short…"

She stared directly at Naruto now, and continued blankly. "Naruto Uzumaki. You were not supposed to die at that Valley of End."

That caused both shinobi of the Leaf to blink owlishly at that, allowing Amaterasu to continue. "We do not know what happened to change the outcome, though it is still being investigated, but at worst you were only meant to be heavily wounded and returned to your home village by your sensei, down but alive."

Tsunade's grip on Naruto's hand tightened, and her replied in kind as he recalls his original death with his head hanging down. It was a tough pill to swallow, hearing that even kami is upset at his untimely demise. Amaterasu did not stop. "Regardless…"

The goddess looked to Tsunade, who stiffened under her gaze, Amaterasu states. "Then, you come along Tsunade Senju. Sacrificing everything for your little brother figure turned son-figure. Just so the world at large can attain a peace neither of you would be able to enjoy. Truly, a soul so pure, so full of love, and scarred by pains of yesteryear, does not deserve the fate of residing within the domain of Shinigami."

Tsunade swallowed hard. She had prepared herself mentally for years for this yet, is this moment of truth turning into her salvation. Hesitant as one might imagine, she asks without daring to hope. "Does that… does that mean…?"

Amaterasu nodded with a smile. "Yes, Tsunade Senju. I have pardoned your punishment for calling upon the death gods power. It did not take much convincing for shinigami to hand you both over in fact."

Both look bewildered by that fact, though the woman opposite them continued. "You saved him from lengthy hearings and decades of paperwork with that stunt. I doubt you'd actually reach his domain as the Shinigami was likely going to, accidentally 'forget' you in the pure lands as thanks."

Tsunade swallowed her rising hope, and asked. "But… why?"

Amaterasu smiled again, sipping her tea calmly, before answering. "You both sacrificed everything, your pasts, your friends, your lives, your loves, and even your future family…"

Looking at Naruto pointedly that caused his breath to hitch. He would have had a family in the future. Amaterasu began again. "All for a land that will move on without you. For the people neither of you will ever meet. Truly, your strength of heart is as radiant as any hero I have ever come across."

Looking to Tsunade next, continuing, "Tsunade. You're unconditional love and support for Naruto is what enabled all of this. Your choice to give up everything to give him a chance to live out his life at your side. Truly. I, the goddess of the Sun, am forced to acknowledge your unimaginable strength of will. A will you have clearly passed on to him."

Both shinobi bow their heads, "Thank you for the kind words, Lady Amaterasu…"

Amaterasu beamed at them a smile that seemed to light the room, when they looked up she continued. "Now then, onto the serious talk."

Placing her tea down on the low table separating both parties, her face growing stern and the two shinobi sit up straighter. "There is naturally a reason why I secured you both from Lord Shinigami. I am in need of your services Naruto. Your heart of gold, and unbreakable resolve is something I have need of. I have brought Tsunade here as a sign of good faith but after this, she will be going to join the others in the pure lands. This I swear."

Both blondes nod to that, it was to be expected, but remain silent as Amaterasu continued to explain. "This realm is not the same as the one you both came from and my people here are in a dangerous position right now. As a goddess, I can see that clearly, but ultimately I am not powerful enough to affect this status quo. Not directly at least."

Tsunade caught on immediately, replying. "You wish to use him as your champion. A powerful new hero to protect your people, right?"

There was no point in denying the allegations, so Amaterasu just nodded. "Indeed. As you have more than proven your strength of heart, your character is without question, and have both the Shinigami and my approval. My court have accepted my decision and judgment on that fact so we are all in agreement of your role among our people."

Naruto finally speaks up, asking. "Do I not get a choice in this? I was hoping to meet my parents in the pure lands you know."

Amaterasu smiled briefly, before clicking her fingers and two ghostly busts appear on the table facing the seventeen-year-old. Both his and Tsunade's eyes widen at them both, allowing them to speak. "Naruto. If you are hearing this, then Lady Amaterasu is explaining the situation to you right now…"

Naruto looks to his fellow blonde floating above the table, muttering. "Dad…"

Minato's bust continued, as it was a recording. "I know you wanted to come here and meet your mother, but I think you should really take up her offer and enjoy a full life this time. We are not going anywhere, my son. We will be watching over you as always. Stay safe and do us proud."

He smiled that smile Naruto recalled from their brief encounter during Pein's attack. The teen smiled back before looking to the redhead who spoke up immediately. "Sochi! Minnie-kun has told me about everything and I have never been so proud of you. I know you wanted to come and meet me here but I agree with your father. You never did get to know a full life, nor did you give me any grand-babies to spoil! So now, for both us and your own sake…"

Kushina's smile softened and was loaded with love felt despite being only a recording, as she spoke. "Take the deal. Sochi. We will be watching over you from here and know without a doubt that our legacy is in the right hands. Live on, sochi. Enjoy everyday and keep moving forward. I love you, Naruto."

Naruto was in tears again, hearing his parents give him this messages and he can feel their love and support for him even now. Tsunade brought him into a hug again, and he cried into her chest again. They did not hate him from not following them so soon, but wanted him to have a chance to live a full life again.

Amaterasu just sipped on her tea again, allowing her new champion time to grieve and come to accept this new chance she has laid before him. The first step has been taken.

After things calmed down again, Naruto met Tsunade's gaze which was soft and understanding then they turned to the goddess who had finished refilling the cups and returned to her seat. Taking another sip, Amaterasu returns her gaze on the duo, leg folded as she spoke casually. "With this, I can assume that you agree to this last mission, so to speak?"

Naruto nodded mutely, face holding his determination, and the goddess of the sun smiled at him, Amaterasu speaking softly. "Great. Though I say mission, your presence alone will be greatly increase the chances of my people surviving the upcoming storms. So I will be satisfied even if you just live your life happily. Though, I will occasionally ask for tasks to be completed and the like. Nothing too stressful, I assure you."

Naruto smiled softly. "I will do my best."

Amaterasu nodded with a smile, lowering her cup. "I do not doubt that. After all, my son should be the strength to light the way for all, no?"

Both Tsunade and Naruto blinked blankly at that, looking to one another before looking back at the woman who looked highly amused. Naruto asked after a prominent pause, speaking hesitantly. "Umm… Lady Amaterasu. I think I misheard you. Can you repeat that? I thought I heard you say your son?"

Amaterasu looked amused, folding her arms and swapping over her legs before responding. "You did not miss hear me, Naruto Omikami – son of Amaterasu Omikami."

She then pointed at him in his current state, continuing. "Or did you forget you died and right now you both are nothing but mere soul forms I am sustaining at current. You lack a physical body which is required to live out a full life."

That caused widened eyes from both said Soul formed individuals, who admittedly did not even contemplate that possibility, turning to each other and not seeing anything that would indicate their current status but it now seemed obvious.

When they left their mortal shells, Naruto's had partially turned to ash whereas Tsunade's shrivelled and dried up as if dying of old age. Sighing, Naruto face palmed, pulling his hands down his face as he mumbled. "I forgot about that…"

Tsunade folded her arms under her bust, leaning back against the sofa's rest, stating. "Jeez. How many mothers are you going to get, huh, sochi?"

Naruto chuckled nervously, as he lifted his hanging head, before looking to his mother/sister figure, saying. "I will be sure to do you all proud, Ka-san. I promise."

Tsunade cracked a grin, looking back at him, replying. "You already have, Naruto. This time, I guess it's your new one's turn, huh?"

Looking to said woman, Naruto nodded, slightly hesitant at this point and asks. "So, Lady Amaterasu. How are you planning to do this, exactly?"

Amaterasu waved him off, swallowing her tea, before answering. "Things are already in place. The last part on your end is saying your goodbyes. You will see each other again after your life among the mortals end but until such a time comes forth. This will be the end of your journey together."

She stands up and pats down her kimono, smiling at the duo and finishes with. "I'll give you some privacy. Just knock on the door when you are ready to proceed."

After closing the door, Amaterasu let's out a heavy sigh after her encounter with her future son and his current mother figure. It was clear how much the duo loved each other. A true bond that had defied even Shinigami's will and the purity that not even the heroes of old could contend with. This was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.

In the two days since the arrival of both Naruto and Tsunade, Amaterasu had been busy setting up everything for every conceivable outcome. First she had to convince the Shinigami which, as she told them, was surprisingly easy due to his own conflicting feelings about the whole affair.

Then she talked to and discussed this with his original parents and explained her reasoning. This took a bit of time but ultimately, they had agreed to it and made those recordings for their son. A son they'd have to wait a bit longer to see but it was to save another world. A small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.

The hardest part was the integration of Naruto's soul into an actual body. Due to his experience with the Kyuubi, she had hoped she'd be able to merge him into a kitsune body and enable him to maximise his previously gathered experience with chakra to be of instant use.

Amaterasu kisses her teeth at her own diminished power in this modern era. In her prime it would have taken some effort but not out of her power to do so. Now though, even if she stored all her power and strength over the next fifty years it'll only just barely be enough. That's more time than they have so the final option is a demigod of sorts but more god than demi, and using part of the kitsune template.

Thus, her son comment. She'll raise him here in Takamagahara and fully develop their bond as mother and son, train him in his new abilities to aid in the fights to come, before sending him down to protect the Youkai. He will have to retrain his own skills too as he will have chakra too, no where near as much as he once had access to but it should be enough to make him a threat to anyone who crosses him.

Susanoo, Hachiman, and Tsukuyomi, will ensure that will be the case for their new nephew.

If everything goes to plan, then Yasaka will have all the support she'll need to lead the Youkai through the turbulent times ahead. The added benefit being able to finally get her own child and the following grandbabies to spoil rotten in a few decades. That should be so much fun.

Amaterasu realises she must have been daydreaming as the knock on the door knocked her back into the here and now, away from the absolutely adorable little raven furred kitsune, and she pulled the doors apart to see both shinobi smiling at her with clear signs of redness around their eyes. She bowed profusely for their sacrifice, before stating. "You have my sincerest thanks for being the strength we need in our time of need. No words will ever truly convey my gratitude for your sacrifice."

Naruto just smiled softly, squeezing Tsunade's hand one final time, as he replied. "You can count on me, dattabayo."

Takamagahara; Amaterasu's Private Chambers

Several months later…

Susanoo knocks on the door to his sisters room, and the muffled voice rang out. "Enter…"

Pushing in the room, he finds the room packed with people all huddled together to get a glimpse of the newest addition to the family. The bulk of a deity approached as the others parted to allow him access to his sister who looked more than a little tired whilst clutching the bundle of dark silk to her chest.

Despite everything, Amaterasu had the biggest smile on her face. Her hair was a matted mess and she still had sweat on her face but none of that mattered as within her arms and currently staring back up at her was her own personal champion.

She had no idea simply following the mortal way of things would give her these feelings of affections towards her son but was greatful that she had listened to Kushina in this aspect. Sure, the morning sickness will not be missed, the random food runs and confusing cravings were memorable, and the lethargy was problematic, but looking down into those shimmering black eyes that match hers looking back with all the innocents in the world.

It just felt worth it.

As Susanoo kneeled down beside her, she did not look away from her baby as he asks. "Sister, what are you naming him?"

Spoke so softly, not even the wind could cross the words, though the baby looked to him none the less and even the god of storms found himself lost in those pools of black looking back at him. Amaterasu whispered back to the boy. "His name is Naruto. It is what I promised them to use."

Upon hearing the name, the baby looked back to his new mother and reached for her. She offered a finger and he gripped it while smiling. The room collectively gasped at the cuteness of it all.

Amaterasu though just smiled, she will raise him well and ensure his childhood will be infinitely better than his last one.

Susanoo though just grinned, liking the name that he can associate with himself, speaking softly. "Naruto, huh…? Nice name. Let it be known that on this day, the birth of a new child of Amaterasu has been born."

Takamagahara; Imperial Garden

Four years later…

Amaterasu can be found in the garden with Naruto, both laughing and giggling another beautiful day away in the land of the Shinto gods. Susanoo was watching from the side. Futsunushi arrived in the garden and stopped by the the storm gods side, and speaking lowly. "Seems that Ama-tan is fully embracing her mother role this time, huh?"

Susanoo nodded silently, saying nothing and remained his stoic guardian over his sister and nephew as they enjoyed another mother-son day. Naruto giggled as his new mother tickled him. Then before long the two moved off for their picnic.

As Amaterasu laid out the food, Naruto suddenly froze and all three gods in attendance felt his awakening. Blinking once. Twice. With the third blink, Naruto looked down at himself flexing his small hands then fingers before looking at his feet and repeating the action.

His confusion was evident before looking forward then up at the woman kneeling before him with a soft smile. Then Naruto recognising the woman and speaking. "Okāsama…"

He paused unsure why he said that instead of, "Lady Amaterasu… but…"

Amaterasu smile widened, nodding as she softly took his significantly smaller hands, and noticed her brother was watching like a hawk. She spoke softly and motherly. "Welcome back, Naruto."

He locked eyes with her but still looked slightly confused, so Amaterasu continued. "It has been almost five years since we last spoke. I have reincarnated you by giving birth to you so you truly are my son and giving you a body you will feel as your own as it is your own."

Nodding slowly, Naruto slowly comes to understand this change in circumstances as his new memories begin to merge with his old and things become clearer to him. After blinking several times he breaks into a familiar smile and hugs his mother, tightly and filled with love and affection. She hears him say muffled against her kimono. "Thank you, Okāsama. Thank you."

She hugged him back with all the warmth and affection she could muster, glad he had accepted her actions to bringing him into this world properly. There are a few things left to inform him about going forward but they can wait. Amaterasu whispered back as she smiled. "You're welcome."

Takamagahara; Imperial Training Ground

Six years later…

Naruto, aged ten, pants and wheezes from his place in a crater from an attack from Hachiman, the deity himself watched the boy in amusement, before calling out. "Get up, boy. You still have archery practice after this."

Huffing, Naruto did so, pulling up his sword and glaring at the god who was standing calmly with a small white dove perched on his finger, and the young godlette muttered. "Couldn't even make you move a step."

Hachiman chuckled lowly, before flicking his finger and the dove flew off to perch nearby, looking at his young student in mirth. "You are a little too young to think of achieving that, Naruto-boy. You may be a reincarnation of a hero from a world of powerful mortals, but this world is an entirely different place filled with great powers that will seek to exploit even us. Never forget that."

Naruto continued to grumble beneath his breath, much to the man's amusement as he watches the young man sheath his practice katana and move towards the side where his practice archery gear sat.

Reaching the table of equipment, Naruto retrieves the head band first, to tie back his rather thick luscious raven hair that reached his shoulder blades. He wanted to cut them but his mother loved this look and he did not have the heart to deny her anything. Plus his favourite uncle would constantly tell him how manly it made him whenever they went out together for fishing and the like.

It wasn't much but he loved every minute of time he spent with his family this time around, from his doting mother Amaterasu, his stern but very gentle uncle Susanoo, and this hard ass known as Hachiman. Though, Futsunushi is weird and mother never lets him spend any one-on-one time with him, he is still cool.

With his quiver secured, braces on both arms, and bow in arm, Naruto makes his way back to the starting circle on the ground and Hachiman circles him slowly while inspecting his stance. After a single circuit, Hachiman orders sternly. "Draw."

Naruto takes an arrow and draws in one smooth, practiced motion as trained to do. Hachiman continues to observe for any faults but continued to order. "Release."

Naruto released the arrow and it travelled the full length of a hundred metres and landed off centre by seven centimetres to the right of bullseye. It was a good shot for one so young but Hachiman wasn't having any of it, and growled. "Again! Draw!"

Wordlessly, Naruto draw his arrow and prepared by taking aim and his uncle circled him and inspected his form that was not wrong but felt off too. "Release!"

Takamagahara; Imperial Private Beach

Two years later…

Susanoo had led his nephew through the grounds of the imperial fortress, the now twelve year old had certainly grown, but maybe a bit too serious under Hachiman's reign as tutor. Naruto carries himself sternly and is far quieter than when he was a small boy but the subtle glances around the overhangs clearly showed he was by far more aware of his surroundings.

Credit needs to be given to those who earned it, Hachiman said he'd train the boy and he has clearly laid a solid foundation for his growth and opened his eyes to see where his enemies may be coming from. Now, it was his turn to show what the elements could do with magic and chakra under his command.

Reaching the area holding an, by intent and purposes, artificial lake and beach, the looming bulk of a man known as Susanoo, turns back to face his newest nephew and spoke up. "Now then, Naruto-boy. It is time for your magic training."

It was slight. Oh so very slight, but that calm stoic mask Naruto had adopted cracked just a little causing the god of storms to grin with a nod. "Yes. This here will be where we practice your hidden talents in the art of elemental manipulation. As my Ane-ue youngest, you are likely to have inherited her heavenly flames. However, as she had used your previous incarnation as a base, I suspect you will have some degree of control over the winds and water which are both in my domain of expertise."

Naruto had been nodding along respectfully as he has been meaning to see if he still had access to his wind styles Rasenshuriken, as he could still use his shadow clones. He grinned briefly recalling the first time his mother had come across one of his shadow clones.

Her shock and stumble was a refreshing break from the doting, fussy, and sometimes overbearing attitude his mother has. Do not get Naruto wrong, he absolutely loves his mother and everything she is giving him for this childhood of his. But he is a shinobi. Reincarnated at that. He may have acted a little childish when he first awoke but he was essentially a seventeen-year-old war veteran turned into a four-year-old demi-god.

He needs to stretch his legs a bit every now and then. His training with uncle Hachiman was brutal but fruitful. If Kakashi had trained him half as hard as his uncle did, the chunin exams would have been a breeze. That reminds him of Tenten. She'd be so jealous if she found out he can use any weapon, from the basic pikes, to spears, to javelins. From peeling knives, to daggers, to short weapons, and Katana's all the way up to their Ode variants. He's handled weapons of myths and legends, to the common peasant equipment. Hachiman had it all.

He tuned back in when his uncle showed off the swirling vortex lifting from the water up into his palm resting a good thirty centimetres above the surface of the lake. Susanoo explains. "This exercise will not be easy. It will determine just how much wind and water you can control and their ratios. The more water you have, the higher the water sprout will reach. The further down the swirling winds fall, the greater your control of wind is."

Naruto nodded as he approached the bank and kneeled down beside his uncle, who had removed his hand but still maintain the water sprout casually. Show off. Placing his own hand above the water Naruto tried to mimic the feeling he had while making the rasengan as that too swirled and spiralled like the sprout did. Should be the same right.

The wind did indeed begin to gather but not as a tornado like planned but as a very loose ball and no where near fast enough to make the water react. Susanoo watched in keen interest, wanting to see if his nephew could master this technique but soon grew concerned when he felt a power similar to his elder sister building up within the boy.

Before he call out an slight flare of fire from Naruto's hand abruptly ignited in the winds and an explosion occurred the next moment and Naruto was thrown back into the sandy beach.

After the smoke cleared, Naruto was face down in the sand and twitching with smoke coming from his hand. It was then his uncle burst out laughing, genuine, side splitting laughter.

The boy himself slowly lifted himself out of the small crater spitting out the sand from his mouth before rolling over to stare up at the golden sky. Hearing his uncle busting a gut out of eyeshot was irritating as he had worked hard to break those pranking habits of his, his mother was most definitely not the forgiving type after the first few he managed to pull off on his uncles and aunts.

The laughter came to an abrupt halt, which brought Naruto out of his misery and thoughts as said mother had appeared and scooped him up and inspecting him for injuries. Amaterasu, upon seeing her son was in one piece, his dark blue kimono only slightly singed, turned on her idiot little brother with a glare so fierce, Naruto swore the entire area's tempature rose several dozen degrees.

Speaking sweetly, way too sweet to be natural in Naruto's honest opinion, Amaterasu asked. "Oh, little brother. My I ask what exactly is so funny about my baby boy being injured like that under your care?"

Susanoo was sweating bullets under that motherly glare of riotous feminine fury currently being levelled upon him by his ever elegant older sister. He knew there was no right answer. Though what irked him the most was his nephew grinning that foolish grin at his mother's back and it was then Susanoo knew he had planned this all along.

Well played, Nephew. Well played.

Takamagahara; Amaterasu's office

With the sun setting, and anger at his uncle for his recklessness, Amaterasu had brought Naruto into her office so she can keep an eye on him while he goes through flame control exercises as she completes her paperwork. The exercise was simple. Create and hold a stable yellow flame on his finger at five centimetres high. Every thirty seconds he must increase its size to ten for five seconds before returning it to five centimetres. It must not flicker at all.

Naruto was so focused on it, he missed the soft smile from his mother who had been watching discreetly from her desk as he sat on the sofa's he had sat on as a simple soul.

Amaterasu would openly admit to any who asked her, but raising Naruto has been nothing but a delight. He never gave her any serious problems. Sure, she had to curb that pranking habit early on but had been warned ahead of time about it by Minato and Hiruzen. She didn't break it just curb it so the Imperial fort would survive his wrath.

He will likely need it going forward when he has enemies to direct it against so she dared not take it from him fully. His kitsune side will like soon emerge from it's dormancy when he fully understands his magic and unlocks the power he has been subconsciously suppressing out of habit.

Amaterasu frowns at that briefly. In his mind, Naruto is treating his kitsune side like how he treated his former tenant and suppressing it. Understandable to a degree, but a mental block they have to address sooner rather than later.

Perhaps Tsukuyomi could work on that. No. She is his mother and she will tackle his problems herself. It will be another mother-son bonding session. Another foundation for their relationship. As Amaterasu watches on as her son's flame waver slightly then saw as his focus was redoubled and stabilised it.

A smile grew as she watched him light up in pride.

She caught herself catching her own prideful smile cycles the flame back down without it flickering a single moment. Amaterasu gets up from her seat and walks over to her son who has just finished off another two cycles. Sitting beside him, naturally drawing Naruto's attention, Amaterasu asked gently. "Naruto-chan, you know you can talk to me, yes?"

Naruto raised a brow, nodding calmly before looking back at the now flickering flame again. His mother remained silent for a moment before clarifying herself as Amaterasu continued. "Why are you not using your kitsune powers?"

The flame abruptly bloomed high and wide but the leader of the Shinto pantheon smothered her son's slip up, captured and contained to prevent a mess developing. She did it so flawlessly, it seemed to be an afterthought as she continued to gaze upon her youngest.

Naruto gulped. He did not suspect that his mother had caught his hesitation on the subject. How the hell was he going to get out of this. He did not have time to contemplate as Amaterasu's mother sense warned her about the incoming lie and spoke up. "Naruto."

The tone use drew his attention without conscious thought, his gaze meeting her stern and unwavering motherly stare. Naruto gulped again and managed to stutter out. "I… um… Okāsama. I… well…"

Breathing through her nose, face softening, Amaterasu replied maintaining her soft voice. "Naruto-chan, I am your mother now. You do not need to hide anything from me. I literally gave birth to you after combining your soul with templates I selected for you. My blood flows in your veins, my likeness is yours, and you will be, and forever be, my son for now and always will be. I love you my son, and nothing will change that."

Hesitantly, Naruto began to speak to the low table ahead of him, unable to meet his mothers gaze as he spoke. "I am comfortable… being like everyone else. I am not different. Just another person of the family. My family. Our family."

He sniffled, which is when Amaterasu realised what it was he was not saying. Her eyes widen before she pulled her son into a hug so motherly, so wholesome, Naruto will never forget just how much this moment would this moment would effect him throughout time. This hug would save him in his darkest times.

By the time Amaterasu pulled back, Naruto had been wiping his tears again but this time she saw his raven furred ears and five long tails, but what caught her attention the most was his, what she could only describe as, fiery blue eyes that were so vivid, Amaterasu found her breath hitched and stuck in her throat.

Taking hold of her son by his shoulders, kneeling down before him Amaterasu spoke calmly despite wanting to squeal to the golden skies about her son's cuteness. "You are my son, regardless of what you look like. Your uncles and aunts love you. You are a member of this family regardless of anything else. Okay?"

Sniffling, Naruto nodded and cracked a small smile before nodding again, whispering. "Okay, Okāsama."

Amaterasu smiled softly as she nodded, idly noticing the swaying tails at his back which was playing havoc on her sense of sensibility though thankfully, Naruto continued. "I umm… have something else…"

She nodded firmly, ordering. "Show me…"

He smiled as he cupped his hands together, palms up and dark navy blue flames suddenly rise up and begin to circle around into an orb with such fine control that it surprised the goddess of the sun, who could tell just how utterly divine these flames were. Divine and burning incredibly hot.

Definitely on par with a few of the dragons she knows of with the added power of her Devine element passed on to him. Yet, Amaterasu found herself lost in the purity and calmness within these flames. It as like they were dancing in Naruto's palm as innocent as he was and not seeking to destroy anything but rather enjoy themselves having finally been let out to the surface.

Presented before her, Amaterasu is certain that the reason her son was having so much trouble with his magic, elemental control, and training was due to him partially focusing on suppressing these flames and his extra human features. With that in mind, she looks up at her son who looked nervously back at her and asks him. "Naruto-chan. Can you do that exercise again? I want to see something."

Nodding, Naruto's extra features retreat only for his mother to raise her hand and he paused. Amaterasu spoke softly. "Don't hide them. Leave them out. Trust me okay?"

Gulping again, Naruto nodded and his tails and ears reappeared, and nervously, he lifted a single finger and immediately the same dark blue flame erupted steadily on his finger, no sway or distortion. Perfectly formed and glowing brightly. He was surprised at how effortless this was.

Amaterasu grinned, oh this was more like it. Her boy wasn't holding back, no longer pulling his punches. She blinked at that, recalling what Minato had told her. Even when facing down the primordial of the elemental Nations, Naruto subconsciously pulled his punches. She should have known. Attacked this earlier. A lot more training would have been cleared a lot faster.

Standing up, as elegantly as always, Amaterasu looks down on her boy with a sweet smile, but dangerous glint in her eyes that made Naruto infinitely nervous. She spoke swiftly. "After such a display, Naru-chan, I think I must take over your training personally. It is only right for a mother to train her son, no?"

Naruto had never heard words so threatening before in any lifetime.

Takamagahara; Imperial Private Beach

Stepping back out of reach of the thrust, Naruto slashes down with his katana, forcing his mother to leap back twirling with a flame laced slash that traveled forcing the now fourteen-year-old to leap airborne and retaliate with an overhead, flipping downward slash that caused a similar flaming slash of pure dark blue flames to strike out.

The goddess of the sun chuckled at her son's mimicking of her own attack as she side steps the glassing gash of the sand that instantly boils the water behind her. Lazily, she rises her blade and blocks her son's sword slashes that were impressive for most, but for Amaterasu it wasn't even a challenge.

Naruto was sweating bullets, he can't loose this spar. Stepping back, flames erupting from his entire being like an eruption he gathers them along the length of his sword and again goes for a heavy horizontal thrust. The resulting fireblast would have decimated the Himalayas but his mother just swatted it away like a child throwing a temper tantrum.

Amaterasu grinned, almost cackling as she stares down her son s both ignore the near hydrogen like explosion in the distance and the ground rumbling beneath their feet. She asks her clearly panicking son. "Oh? Are you so desperate to not accompany me to the ball you would result to such methods?"

Naruto growled as his six tail tips glow a vibrant blue as he holds up his hand above his head, his tails flowing up and aiding in the stabilisation of his chakra enhanced magic attack, a recreation of his most used technique, as he declares. "Flame art: Rasenova!"

The ball of dark flames explodes from his raised hand, tails, and smouldering spinning hook like blades erupting from it. The air grows arid, dry, and sizzling at its creation. He glared at his mother, hoping this would be enough to at least buy him time to think of something else to slow down her advance. He'd be damned having to dress up proper again. Not after last year.

Taking a single step forward, Naruto uses his full might to throw the super-heavy ball of condensed blazing chakra and magic at his mother in a blue like laser that shattered, shredded, and scorched the ground it flew over.

Amaterasu would never tell her son how proud she is of his progress over the last two years under her tutelage. It may get to his head after all. The fact that he had successfully managed to merge his old attacks with his current skill set, and has most the strength of his old self back at such a young age is most impressive.

As she watched this attack of her boy get closer, Amaterasu ponders her response. She is proud of him, no doubt, however she knows he can reach greater heights. As he is now, he'd give any Youkai beside Yasaka a run for their money. The Satan's will be wary of him, the same with most angels, and other demigods will likely envy him for his strength.

So many options. Maybe she'll make a show of putting some effort into defending against it to push him harder to come up with something unexpected? That makes sense. Yes. She'll take it head on and make it look like she had to put some effort into defending herself against his ultimate attack.

The spinning ball of superheated death made contact with Amaterasu's magic barrier with a surprising amount of power. Not enough to worry her, but enough to earn a raised brow. The battle between the attack and defence continued for a good twenty seconds before the attack faltered and destabilised then erupting in an explosion that rivalled Nagasaki.

The entire heavenly realm felt that shockwave.

Naruto however narrowed his eyes, his mother is not that weak. Creating a pair of shadow clones, the three dart off in different directions in an attempt to throw off her counter attack. An attack that he was sure to come. It came as expected. A blaze that engulfed all four Naruto's.

With a powerful wave of flames washed over the area leaving no surface unmarred by its passing leaving the goddess stood pristine and untouched, looking out across the glassed ground that glowed from her counterattack.

All went silent for a moment.

Amateurasu glanced all around, pretending not to notice the shift in the earth at her back. It wasn't long before she snapped out her hand and bonked the recently appeared son. "Got you."

Naruto was stunned for all of five seconds before he pouted. "Not fair, Okāsama."

She giggled bringing him into a hug, he did not fight her and just went with her whims. Then he will have to deal with this problem of joining the formal event tonight.

A/N: Another Oneshot. Only Objective really was Naruto's revival as Amaterasu's son. This morning, It was going to be both Tsunade and Naruto, but couldn't think of a way of doing it. If I do later, then maybe I will. Like Naruto Son of Amateurasu and Tsuande, daughter of Sasunoo or something. Later.

Yes, I wrote this in one sitting. Kinda. I had the death scene already, though i did update it and expand on it but the rest was a single days work. Don't really have a plan for this beyond that. Heck, want to stop before when Yasaka first meets Naruto, mid rescue. But, writers fevor is a thing. Ran out of ideas after they returned. So, I'm going back to work.
