Chapter 6

A week later, Delilah finally saw that lipstick message on her bathroom mirror and snapped a picture of it with her cell phone. Philadelphia was always nice to go to since they had friends there, more Sami than her, because of CZW. After the Impact tapings, they traveled overseas for a show for one of the Indie promotions they currently worked for, before flying back to Cincinnati for two days off. Delilah wiped the lipstick off her mirror and then went in her room, groaning since it STILL smelled faintly of Jon. Collapsing on her bed, she stared up at the ceiling and wondered where Jon would end up going now that he had been reborn as Jon Moxley again. Would he go to AEW, Impact, CZW, ROH…there were so many different organizations…hell, it wouldn't surprise her if he dipped his toe in all of them.

Jon was keeping that information to himself. However, the internet, at least the wrestling parts of it, had blown up, wondering what he would do next. Sometimes, he wasn't even sure, and it was kind of fun to just flirt with all the organizations out there without committing to one. Jon bet that was what marriage was like, as well as divorce. A person was stuck with one woman for life, that was IT, and god help them if they screwed up. Then…then came divorce papers, the freedom that followed, and there were SO many flavors, so the person wanted to sample them all. Sami wasn't blowing up his phone anymore, which was nice.

He had sent ONE text: Not cool Mox, which Jon took to mean about Delilah.

Mmm, Delilah. What was his silvery, anxious beauty up too? Was she back in the states?

Indeed, she was and currently at home, folding laundry and watching Game of Thrones, just trying to relax as much as possible. Some nights, it got lonely living by herself, but for the most part, Delilah loved it. She had nobody to answer to and could walk around naked if she wanted to, which she had done on occasion for the hell of it. Sami had stopped giving her the cold shoulder, after she convinced him, without a shadow of a doubt, she hadn't slept with Jon. That was why she refused to do it because she did not need to come in between Sami and Jon. And she also refused to lose her brother for one night of sex – not worth it, even if it was Jon Moxley.

What'cha doing? Jon was bored and since it was Delilah on his mind, he'd bother her for a bit.

Of course, there was always that chance she'd ignore him. Actually, that was the most likely scenario, Delilah had admitted she got nervous around him, so she'd probably block his number or something. There were only so many hours of sports he could watch and only so much gym time a man could log before he had to get a life.

Or a distraction.

Delilah was just getting ready for some intimate time when his text message came through, arching a slow brow. Did she give him her number? Then again, she hadn't changed her number since she'd gotten her first cell phone at age 15. Back then, Jon did have her number and she was shocked he'd kept it all these years. Interesting. There was no way she was telling him what she was about to do and would have to postpone her vibrator time, wondering if Jon knew, or could, video chat. Deciding to try it, Delilah pressed the button on her iPhone and waited for him to answer, surprised when he actually did.

"Wow, you actually figured out how to do this? I'm impressed." She said by way of greeting, sliding her fingers through her hair since it was down. "And to answer your question, I was getting ready for bed. What are YOU doing?"

"Look, I know I have done a GREAT job of cultivating this anti-tech, anti-social media thing, but…" Jon turned his cell, showing off his gaming computer setup, multiple screens for the win. It just occurred to his half named, lounging in boxers only ass, that she had a lot of assumptions about him, but she didn't really know him anymore. Hell, same could be said about him in regard to her. "It's early, I was going to play a game." Oh yeah, time difference, she was ahead of him by three hours. "I'm surprised you replied, doll. Miss me? Need cuddled?"

"Wait – wait – wait, Jon Moxley is a GAMER? Are you kidding me?" Delilah couldn't help laughing because he HAD given a great misconception that he was NOT a tech-savvy man. However, it looked like he had a pretty wicked setup and the fact this man was in JUST boxers…Delilah had to push that thought out of her mind instantly. Friend-zone – gotta keep him in the friend-zone, she thought, leaning back against her pillows. "Well since YOU'RE the one who reached out to me, I figured I'd see what you wanted."

"I'm bored, Del," Jon dropped back onto his couch, sprawling comfortably since nobody was around to see if any of his bits and pieces poked out. "And since you're the only female friend I got that is actively avoiding getting in my pants…which, by the way, is rude..." As if he'd tell her the legitimate reason, that she had gotten his attention with her running hot and then cold, her anxiousness and then the teasing? Not to mention that wicked dry humor, and everything in between? "Also, Sami isn't talking to me right now; I think our honeymoon phase is over."

Now Delilah felt a little guilty upon hearing that, wishing Sami would just let sleeping dogs lie. "He thinks we fucked when you stayed the night here. I told him we didn't – I didn't tell him what you did, but he knows you didn't sleep on the couch and I won't tell him what really happened." She frowned, rubbing the back of her neck, which was stiff since she'd taken quite a few beatings this week to enhance storylines and whatnot. "He'll come around; he gave me the cold shoulder all week until today when we came back home. I'll talk to him and try to convince him you didn't fuck his sister and you two will be fine again in no time."

"Don't you dare." Jon ordered flatly. "He's a guy, and if you do that, he's going to think I went bitching and whining to you," Which he had not, he had cracked a one liner joke is all. "Or he really is gonna think we did more than cuddle." Even through the cell's screen, he could see her beautiful eyes narrow. "Which I promise you, we did not, I was very well behaved." Not to mention, if she had woken up with him doing anything besides snuggling into her, she would have sliced his balls off, fried them over easy, and fed them to him. "He'll get over it."

"Fine, I'll let you deal with it then." Delilah would not get involved with the issues Sami and Jon had, even though they revolved around her. "He seems to think since he thinks of you as family, I should do the same. And no offense, but I've never saw you as family to me, Jon." Then she would feel like she was committing incest at all the naughty, dirty thoughts about him. "Just because Sami thinks of people as family doesn't mean I have to automatically follow. He's an idiot for thinking that way." Change of subject. "What game are you playing?"

"Uh, you'll laugh."

His mind was taking a few moments to catch up since she had said she never saw him as family. So what DID Delilah see him as? Obviously, she was trying to shelve the view that he was a handsome, sexual male…who could probably screw that stick right out of her. Hmm, what if he was just one of 'Sami's friends'? That would suck, just another guy she had to deal with, thanks to her brother.

"Pillars of Eternity II, it's a roleplaying game." With a lot of reading involved, it was new, came out in 2018, but it was also meant to be 'old school'.

"I enjoy RPGs, so I'll have to check that out one of these days." When she wasn't super busy traveling and wrestling, that is.

Delilah didn't see that happening anytime soon and it seemed Jon was enjoying his 'off' time before he fully made his return back to the Indies as Jon Moxley. She definitely saw him as more than just Sami's friend and would never admit that out loud. She didn't know what he was and was afraid traversing down that road.

"It's taken me forever." He admitted, but that had been because he had been traveling for 'work', losing matches and getting dumped on. Now that he had some 'free' time while he sorted out what was what and tormented his fans with that return video and rumors, Jon could actually take the time to read everything. Text game mixed with the graphical and all that other fun new stuff; it was the best of both worlds. He was such a child.

"Well, that's what happens when you're a professional wrestler, sweetie. Hardly have time to wipe our asses when we're on the road."

Delilah did not know how wrestlers such as Xavier Woods managed to run a YouTube gaming channel when he was a fulltime WWE Superstar. That schedule was HELL on EARTH! Still, the man managed to play video games, comment and post about them. She didn't understand how he managed to find the time to do it and probably never would.

"I'm retirrreddd…or on leave, however you want to put it. I got plenty of time to get at least…halfway through this shit, I'm a slow reader." Jon drawled, getting up off the couch to go back to his setup, now in the mood to play. "You play games, doll? I know of some good co-ops." He had his cell aimed down, showcasing his bare feet and then right back up, glancing down to make sure everything was tucked. Hell, maybe he could reel her in with some friendly, long distance activities; she had to be more relaxed when he WASN'T in proximity. Such a strange woman. "When are you coming to Vegas again?"

"I don't know yet. Sami hasn't made the decision if he wants to go to AEW. I want to go and try out the promotion, see what it's about." She was also friends with Brandi Rhodes, Cody Rhodes' wife. They had a couple matches together in NXT and then Brandi was instantly moved to be a backstage interviewer. Then, she was moved to the main roster as a ring announcer. The woman could wrestle, but for some reason, WWE didn't see her as one and she knew it broke Brandi's heart. "If I do, I may have to leave oVe…" Truth be told, Brandi had sent over a contract via email and all Delilah had to do was sign it and send it back in a PDF file. She had already read over the entire thing, twice, just to make sure no funny business was going on. "And yeah, I like games, mostly RPGs and I do like the Far Cry series. Blowing shit up and killing cultists is fun." Delilah laughed at the look on Jon's face and shrugged, chewing her bottom lip lightly.

She liked Far Cry, that was insane. Who the hell WAS this woman when he was there? Where the hell had she been? Boundaries, she liked boundaries, but here she was, practically DARING him to cross them. Boundaries were rules meant to be broken. Jon liked breaking rules, he was good at it.

"Want some unsolicited advice? Sure you do. Don't base your career around Sami and what he's doing, doll. AEW has potential to blow up in a big way and that's a once in a lifetime shot, you know? If they make it, if everything works out like Rhodes and Khan are hoping…well," Jon inhaled through his grit teeth, getting pleasure out of the mere idea that WWE would have competition. "Yeah, don't let what you want slip away, you'll fucking hate yourself for it." That was experience advice right there.

Sami was comfortable with oVe in Impact and other Indie organizations, but if she signed with AEW, she couldn't work for Impact. It was a legitimate wrestling organization that would be on television, just like WWE, with major stars like Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, the Young Bucks…it was already getting a TON of hype online through social media and they hadn't even had a show yet!

His words resonated with her –Don't let what you want slip away, you'll fucking hate yourself for itand Delilah knew, at that moment, that second, what she wanted to do. "Then I'm coming to Vegas on the 25thand I'm going to wrestle for AEW. They already sent me a contract and I just have to sign and send it back to them. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but…you've helped me make the decision, Moxley. Who knew you were philosophical?"

"I'm not." He grunted, using a weird looking pop socket to prop his cell up on, so she could see him and vice versa while he was seated in his comfortable gaming recliner chair, already booting up his gaming PC. "I've been there before though. If you're not sure, ask Rhodes if you can freelance. He's not going to lock you down the way WWE does." Technically, they were all independent contractors, which was a nice thing for the WWE. Superstars were responsible for their health and everything, but subject to WWE rules and stipulations, and they could be STUCK not working at ALL until the original agreement was expired.

Freelancing wasn't a bad idea, actually. "I'll have to ask Brandi about that. She's the one taking care of the contracts and whatnot, but I know she'll ask Cody if it can be added to my contract."

Signing too soon wouldn't be a smart thing to do, not until Delilah had all her ducks in a row. Why was this man torturing her? He was in boxers, playing a PC game and she could see those delicious abs of his. It made her mouth water and warmth spread throughout her body, though she hid it all well.

"Should I let you go so you can get on with your gaming?"

"I am quite capable of multitasking, doll, it's one of my finer traits." Jon looked directly at the screen and winked, a lot of dirty innuendoes in just that one sentence and he had laced his tone with something wicked and sultry. "They offered me a big, big sum, but I don't know about signing shit until I know they're not going to flop." Because they'd had to buy their spot on TV because right now there was a lot of hype, but nothing to guarantee they would deliver on it.

She rolled her eyes at that innuendo and felt her panties instantly dampen, shifting on her bed to get more comfortable. "Behave, Jon." That beautiful chest of his looked absolutely edible and all Delilah wanted to do was glide her tongue on it, biting back a groan. "I read 6 million they offered you for one year. That's insane considering not even your ex-Shield boys, Seth and Roman, make that much combined in a year with WWE." That was hilarious, actually. "I guess AEW knows a real star when they see one." They had offered her quite the sum as well since she had made a name for herself in the Indies and with oVe. "You could do the freelance route too, you know. Take your own advice, Moxley."
