Chapter 30
Meanwhile, Delilah was in the ring, in a black sports bra and white and black shorts, sparring with Britt to gear up for her match that night against Riho, Nyla Rose, and Yuka Sakazaki. It was a fatal four-way match and she was looking forward to mixing it up with them. There were wrestlers here that weren't on the card, but wanted to be here in support of the company like Chris and Britt. She put Britt in a headlock and tossed her down on the mat with ease, both women enjoying sparring against each other. They also discussed what would happen in the match, different scenarios since there were two Japanese wrestlers in the fatal four-way, and Riho would be going over as the winner. Once again, Delilah was fine with it because she wanted to pay her dues in the company before going for the AEW women's championship, which would be hers someday.
Neither saw a very PISSED OFF Kenny headed down the ramp toward the ring.
Kenny was beyond pissed. The more he thought about it, the more screwed up it was. All her reasons for why it hadn't worked between them, her garbage about not doing repeats, was BULLSHIT. Nothing but pathetic excuses because she KNEW they were good together and she was afraid of just how good. That explained why she was basically slumming it with a clown like Jon Moxley. Delilah was using him as a way to deal with her own issues, her own fears, and the apparent timing, from what Sami told him about how and when she had 'moved' to Vegas basically, lined up from that night. His eyes narrowed in on HIS woman, his in-denial woman, coming to a stop at the end of the ramp.
"What the hell is Omega holding?"
"Huh?"
They were taking five for a break and Delilah turned to look at Kenny, who was standing right outside of the ring…with a bouquet of something in his hand. She looked closer and had to bite her tongue at the BARBED WIRE wrapped roses. Obviously, Jon was already playing mind games with Kenny and he looked super agitated, which would bode well for Jon in their upcoming feud.
"Those are…nice, Omega."
"Is that barbed wire wrapped roses?" Britt started laughing, not bothering to hide her amusement and shook her head. "Let me guess…"
"Oh, you know where they're from and WHO sent them."
"You really do have a demented boyfriend, don't you?"
Delilah grinned, her eyes sparkling with happiness and nodded. "Yeah, but I love him, so he gets a pass from me on the demented front. Between you and me, that barbed wire he used in his return video was very hot."
"I second that."
They were completely ignoring Kenny.
Kenny was NOT amused and, when they kept ignoring him, talking about how 'hot' that disgusting video Moxley had released after his 'prison time' with the WWE had been served, his blood was boiling. These broads were proof of a stereotype. Women didn't want the GOOD guy, the man that would respect her and treat her like a queen. They wanted the 'bad boy' who would abuse them, break their hearts…no. A second later, he had tossed the 'bouquet' into the ring with them, forcing them to back away from each other and stood at the side of the ring, hands on his hips, glaring at Delilah.
"What the fuck is wrong with your rabid dog, Lila?" He demanded angrily.
She raised a very slow dark brow down at Kenny, eyes narrowing and Britt actually backed away because she had SEEN that look flash in her friend's eyes once before. "I don't know what you're talking about, Omega." She kicked the bouquet right back at him, making it cut his wrist as he jumped back and smiled wickedly. "Blue is at home and he's not rabid at all. He's a sweetheart…well, okay, he's a sweetheart to me, but intruders or people he doesn't like…not so much."
Britt bit her lip again, knowing Delilah's temper had been stoked because Kenny coming down here was HIGHLY unprofessional, especially while they were sparring. "Omega, you better turn around and march your ass up that ramp right now while you still have balls left, pal." They would not hesitate to beat the hell out of him for misconduct. Women did not screw around in the wrestling industry these days – they were not damsels in distress anymore and could more than handle their own.
"Well said, champ."
"I thought so." Britt's eyes narrowed down at Kenny. "Or perhaps you'd like us to report you to the higherups for being an unprofessional cock?"
Now it was Delilah's turn to bite her lip.
"I'm sorry wanna-be, nobody was talking to you," Kenny informed Britt with a dismissive sneer. She was already laying down and taking it up the backside, dropping her title to Delilah so soon, without any real build-up. What a joke! "So, mind your cock suckers."
Britt was going to enjoy beating some manners into him, probably with that bouquet, which was no doubt Jon's idea of either intimidation or courting. Probably both. Moxley was insane. "So, when I do report him, technically, he tossed a weapon at us." Because she was going to pop him one first.
Kenny was ignoring her, popping the rose heads off the bouquet. He was going to cram the stems, thorns, and wire down Moxley's throat.
Once again, Kenny was wrong in his assumptions because Britt would be WINNING the match between them, when it happened, and retaining her title. Not that he knew that information because it wasn't his business. "Even IF I wasn't with Moxley, after the way you just spoke to my friend and YOUR coworker, your EQUAL, I might add, I would NOT be with you anyway, Kenny." Delilah snorted derisively, seeing the fire erupt in his eyes. "And I can't wait for MY man to shove that barbed wire down your fucking throat when the time comes."
"I hope he also crams some up your ass while he's at it!" Britt growled, both women shaking their heads. "If I'm a wanna-be, then you're nothing more than the Elite's bitch boy, asshole. Now turn your ass around and walk up that ramp and crawl back into the hole you came out of. We're not done with the ring yet."
"No, you are, I need-"
"Omega boy, so glad you got my gift!"
Britt glanced at Delilah before looking towards that very sickly amused, somewhat dark rasping voice. Moxley was walking out from between the guardrails and the ramp, his icy blues both deadly and gleaming with malice.
Jon's face fell into something mocking being 'hurt', eyes locking on that rose-free bouquet. "Rude much? It took me three minutes to pick out those roses for you."
Jon. Was. Crazy!
Yes, he was and had overheard the last bit of what Britt said, about crawling back into a hole. "So, ladies," He glanced at them, one brow quirking. "Is he giving you a hard time?"
"Besides insulting one of my best friends, who could hand him his ass in this ring easily?"
"And throwing barbed wire flowers at us during our break?"
"No, not really, he's being more of a nuisance…"
"A nuisance asshole, more like it."
"Yeah, that." Delilah conceded with a grin, wrapping her arm around Britt's shoulders and kissed her head. "We were out of here minding our own business and sparring when he decided to come down to demand what my – what did he call him, Britt? Refresh my memory."
"Rabid dog."
"Yeah, that." Delilah smiled sweetly at Kenny, her eyes nothing more than hard milk chocolate staring at him before glancing back at Jon. "So, what is your problem? Care to enlighten the asshole, Moxley?"
"I'M a rabid dog?" Jon's blue eyes widened innocently, though his jaw had a visible twitch, annoyance seeping through him. Kenny's response to the flowers was to come out and HARASS Delilah? That was not only a totally dick, chicken shit move, but…what the hell?! "I send you flowers and you give them to her?"
"You're really dating this lunatic?!" Kenny asked exasperatedly, looking at Delilah like she was now crazy too. Moxley wasn't even taking this seriously!
Jon was slowly moving into position, the amused façade melting into something else entirely.
"Not that it's any of YOUR business, but yes I am, Omega. And I have nothing to do with the two of you, so you coming down here harassing me about what he did to you…why don't you take it up with the man himself instead of hounding HIS woman?" Delilah demanded, folding her arms tightly in front of her chest while Jon looked downright DEADLY and she did not blame him.
"Well said." Britt would always support Delilah; the women were best friends and had been for a long time coming up through the Indies.
"Thanks."
"Not to mention, he's very unprofessional to disrupt us from working on our match."
"Good point."
"Thanks."
"Screw you snatches!" Kenny turned to go and literally walked right into Jon's outstretched fist. Jon didn't even have to swing, he had just held out his arm and Kenny waltzed right into it. "YOU SON OF A BITCH!" He roared, backing away and cupping his nose.
"I didn't do it." Jon remarked without batting an eyelash, glancing over at Delilah and winked. "I'll make sure he leaves you two alone."
"You mother-!"
"Is there a problem here?" Cody demanded, coming down the ramp, looking a little frazzled.
This was hectic, but in a good way. He didn't need these two cocking it up. Delilah really didn't want her relationship to be the cause for Jon going off on Kenny, even though he hadn't thrown the punch. Kenny had walked into that fist. She didn't want to defend Jon for fear of their personal life getting in the way of professional.
"We were just leaving the ring, Cody."
"Yeah, we don't know what's going on. We were just sparring when they came out here and started arguing." Britt could lie with the best of them and slid out of the ring alongside Delilah, both women having each other's backs. "Thanks for the ring time."
Not looking in Jon's direction, Delilah made her way up the ramp with Britt while Cody dealt with Jon and Kenny, who was cussing violently. Jon didn't know if he was offended or amused that Britt had tossed him under the bus with an outright lie. Or that Delilah had gone along with it, albeit silently. He let Kenny bury himself with all that cussing, hooking his fingers through the belt loops of his cargo pants he changed into and just stood there.
"Well, Mox, did you punch him?"
"Nope."
"Bullshit, I turned and hit your fist!"
Jon raised a brow. "You hit my fist…say it again and think about it."
"You need to fire him, he's a joke and he doesn't take any of this seriously! He's sending me flowers!"
"Most people would be flattered…"
"Wrapped in barbed wire?"
"Personal touches are what make a gift, Omega."
Britt and Delilah had zero fucks to give, covering their own backsides and both knew Cody would deal with Jon and Kenny accordingly. Kenny needed to move on and forget about Delilah. That was in the man's best interest because she had found who she wanted to be with, her other half that completed her. She was not a fan or believer of soulmates, but if she was, Jon had to be hers, regardless of what Sami thought. Glancing back over her shoulder at the three men, she winked at Jon and mouthed 'sorry' on her way to the back with Britt to finish getting ready for their match. Hopefully, he forgave her for feigning innocence in front of Cody since Kenny did come down to the ring because of her.
Jon nodded once, his gaze shifting back to Cody, who was trying not to dress them down, letting Delilah know he understood. It was obvious Kenny had come down to start an argument with her, which meant he probably knew about them dating. What a tool! What kind of man went after the woman because another guy had done something? Cowardly little pigs, that kind of man, and Omega was a cowardly little pig. Jon was so looking forward to gutting this swine. By the time Cody was done, Jon was bored out of his mind and Omega looked ready to have a coronary. Cody was dressing up as a businessman and putting on a good show of being a 'gentleman', but he was anything BUT.
Apparently, he had decided now was a good time to start reminding people of that.
As far as Delilah was concerned, she wanted NOTHING to do with Kenny. It was amusing to listen to Cody berate one of his own since Kenny was part of the Elite Club, which used to be the Bullet Club. However, Cody had a show to run, a company, and with that came the unfortunate task to put people in their places. Jon wouldn't listen to a word the boss said, she knew that much and he would do whatever he felt necessary in the ring to send a message. If Kenny was smart, he would leave her alone from here on out, but something told Delilah he wouldn't. She regretted ever having any kind of relationship with Kenny in the first place, especially now that she knew what kind of man he was. Jon was far from a saint, BUT at least he handled his issues with the people directly responsible instead of going to their loved ones like a coward. She looked forward to watching Kenny eat every word he spouted about Jon on tonight's show and went to get her makeup and hair done.
"Man, just…did you?" Cody asked once Kenny had stormed off, no doubt with a chaffed backside, but business had to come before anything else, at least until they got their feet off the ground this fall. If Omega couldn't understand that than he was dumber than a box of rocks. When Jon nodded, he brought a hand up over his face, trying not to laugh but his shaking shoulders were a dead giveaway. "Roses and barbed wire? There is something very wrong with you, Mox."
"It was a very thoughtful, romantic gift." Jon deadpanned as they walked towards the back.
"Yeah, I bet. So, what DID happen?"
"I don't know, I think he came out and was bothering the girls."
Cody sighed, remembering Kenny and Delilah brief fling they had together for a couple months before they left to go over to Japan. She had ended things with him abruptly and…Cody didn't blame her. He was pretty sure Brandi told her to end things because she had no idea how long they would be overseas. Honestly, it was for the best because trying to maintain a relationship, overseas at that, was damn near impossible. That was why Brandi went everywhere with Cody because she refused to let their marriage falter and Delilah refused to go to Japan, not when she was making headway in the states in the Indies. They were in two very separate times in their lives and Kenny expected Delilah to drop everything to follow him wherever he went. Cody had tried telling the man that was not how she worked; Delilah was VERY independent and did things her way in her own time, just like her brother.
"Did you happen to catch anything he said to them?" Cody wasn't surprised when Moxley shook his head and scrubbed a hand down his face. "I'll talk to him. He shouldn't be harassing or bothering others when they are in the ring working." That was a huge safety hazard.
"I'm guessing it had to do with the roses."
"Wait, you think he took his issues with you out on them?"
"Del, more to the point, Britt was just there in the crossfire."
"What a chickenshit." Cody gave Jon a sideways look. "I know telling you what to do is likely to go in one ear and out the other, but try keeping your shit to the ring, including love gifts." He was going to have to kibosh this issue; there was no way Kenny should be dragging Delilah into his beef with Jon. Cody had KNOWN this was going to turn south as soon as he said 'rookie' to Jon, about what Kenny had called him.
