Chapter 31
Kenny was also pissed she was dating someone else besides him, thinking they would pick up where they left off since he was in the same company as her again. He thought Delilah would bow to him and they'd run roughshod over AEW together. That was not the case at all…because of Jon Moxley. He blamed Cody for signing that lunatic into the company in the first place! A WWE reject rookie – that was all Moxley was and he was going to prove just how worthless the idiot was tonight after the match with Joey Janella. Kenny had some tricks up his own sleeve – they didn't call him The Cleaner for nothing. If Jon brought his barbed wire, Kenny would bring his own weapon and they would see who prevailed when all was said and done.
It was a good thing their product was rated TV-14.
Considering the WWE reject rookie had a 'good', long run with that garbage company, Kenny was delusional. Jon went to hunt down his woman after finishing up with Cody, the barbed wire, rose-free bouquet of thorny stems in his taped hand. He still had plans for these bad boys. "Looking good, darlin'." He whistled when he spotted her, eyeballing the way she had her silver hair done. Looking gorgeous, actually, and he didn't fault Kenny for not wanting to let her go.
Too bad the man had lost her a long time ago and she was officially off the market. In ALL ways.
"Thanks." She grinned at him, holding her hand up in a one-minute gesture while her lips were finished.
It was the finishing touch to her makeup, her silver hair in all kinds of braids before ending in a tail at the nape of her neck to flow down her back. Her Daenerys look was on point for tonight's show and her wrestling attire was silver and black, looking like dragon scales. She absolutely loved it; AEW really did have the best seamstresses and they had come up with the perfect concept for her.
"I hope you're not mad at…mmm…" Jon had cut her off with a passionate kiss as soon as they were in his dressing room, away from prying eyes and ears, her arms instantly encircling his neck. Luckily, her makeup was water and smear-proof. "Well, that answers any concerns I had."
"What the hell would I be mad about, doll?" He asked curiously, loving her sexy Mother of Dragons look. She was a big Game of Thrones fan and had gotten him into the show. They had binge-watched the hell out of the prior seasons just to get him all caught up. "If you mean dickhead, I'm not mad at you. I'm annoyed with him. Coming to harass you over something I did doesn't set well with me, it's a chickenshit thing of him to do." Also, Omega still had the hots for Delilah and that was a big no-no.
"I'm just wondering how he found out about us. We haven't been on social media or anything…"
Did Sami call Kenny? Surely not, she immediately dismissed that idea because Sami could not stand Kenny. Then again, he had said he'd rather see her with Kenny than Jon…was it possible? She didn't want to think about this right now and caressed Jon's face with the back of her hand, seeing the barely contained rage in his eyes.
"It doesn't matter if we're discovered, but I'd rather one of US says it instead of someone else running their mouth, that's all." Delilah brushed her lips softly against his. "I love YOU, I'm with YOU, and he'll get over it. I know he just came to me because he's trying to make me see the 'light'," She did the finger quotations, rolling her eyes. "About you and it's not going to work. I've known you far longer than him; I know the type of person you are and your 'crazy' ways. Just ignore his antics outside of the ring and take care of business where it counts most. He's trying to get under your skin by involving me and, hopefully, Cody nips that in the ass. Otherwise, I'll have a talk with Brandi about it."
"Well, considering I'm pulling 'antics' outside of the ring, I guess I'll have to overlook SOME things." Not when it came to her, though. It was one thing to go back and forth and keep it between just them, another thing entirely to involve her. Jon, sighing dramatically, pulled out his cell and logged into his barely used Twitter account, taking a few seconds to remember his password. "There." It'd wind up spread across other platforms once his fan media guy seen it; business would be handled and now the world knew she was off the market and so was he.
"I FUCKING KNEW IT!" Came Chris's overly loudmouth from a closed dressing room.
It was a picture of her, Jon, and Blue outside of the house in Vegas, both crouched to be level with the dog. Their heads were pressed together gently, resting, with smiles on their faces and Jon had a hat on tilted to the side. It was a rare picture of him smiling since he normally didn't or made stupid faces. It was right before they had taken Blue on a walk, just before sunset, something they did frequently while home. Delilah took his phone to see what he posted and felt something in her heart warm her from the inside out, her light brown eyes looking back up at him. Was he sure about this? Jon was NOT a social media person, so for him to do this was stepping WAY out of his comfort zone. He didn't bother typing anything under the picture or captioning it, just putting that picture out there sent the message he wanted.
"And just when I thought you couldn't surprise me anymore, Jon." Now wasn't the time to call him anything else as she handed his phone back before pulling him down for a searing, toe-curling kiss.
"Oh my god!" Chris was out of his room, cell in hand and he snapped a picture of the pair. He knew better than to post it on social media; that was grounds for the 'young buck' to stomp his backside and Chris knew he would definitely give Jon a run for his money. However, at the end of it, he'd be the one on the ground. "I KNEW it…"
"How would you know jackshit?" Jon muttered against Delilah's lips, his hands now on her pert backside, pressing her into him. Chris had terrible timing. Good friend, bad timing.
"Because you're not moody and you came in with her."
How did that mean ANYTHING?
"And Double or Nothing, seen you two out tearing up Vegas." Chris had been in a cab, on his way back to his hotel room.
"Oh, did you now?" Delilah smirked against Jon's lips, talking against them like he did her and kissed him one more time before reluctantly pulling away. "And just what were we doing?"
"Well, you WERE next to a wedding chapel, but there was also a casino there and other shit too." Chris had NO idea what mouth mistake he just made.
"Vegas is full of them, that's not surprising. I really don't…remember much of that night, actually. Long Island Iced Teas are the devil, by the way."
Chris laughed, pulling her into a one-armed hug and nodded. "Yes, yes they are. EvenIknow not to go near those damn things and I'm a Rockstar, baby!"
"With a huge ego."
"HEY, Moxley, you wanna throw down?" Chris didn't mean anything by it, grinning.
"Now THAT I would pay to see." Delilah kissed Chris's cheek and winked at Jon before going over to grab a bottled water out of his personal cooler.
Jon wasn't worried about Chris's mouth because Vegas was LOADED with chapels. Those things made a killing off of spur of the moment weddings as well as people finding the cliché amusing and doing it there. "Yeah, you'd pay to see me bury this poor old man? That's rude, Del. Chrissy here has a million kids."
"Three, and not old."
"You wear a fedora…and scarves." And now apparently a sewn on 'cod piece' over his leather pants, that was just beyond disturbing. Chris was battling middle age or something with a lot of…flair, that was for sure.
"Persona…" Not all of them lived it. He was a shorts and tank top or t-shirt kind of guy when he was off the road and at home. "Shut up." He began laughing, shaking his head.
While they bantered, Delilah started thinking back to their time in Vegas, when all of this really began to happen between her and Jon. Chapels…casinos…why did mentioning that bother her? There was this feeling she couldn't describe inside of her, like a niggle of information she was forgetting. Now here Jon was, posting and splattering their relationship all over social media for the world to see, including her brother. Sami…the one person who had been there for her throughout her entire wrestling career, her life, and he hated her because of the man she was with. A man Delilah swore she'd never be with because she refused to be another notch on his belt. And not only that, but she was in love with him and there was no turning back from that or changing it. She had given her heart to him the same night she lost her brother…again, no changing it.
Anything.
There it was again – that damn word.
Delilah had spent years judging him for stuff based on his past. The notch on his bedpost, the type of woman he was into, and then bundled that all up with her devotion to her brother and some misguided sense of not interfering with a bro code. Sami himself had lost his temper over them and told her to go back to Kenny, who was 'safe'. Sami was a moron. Jon loved his woman, but sometimes, he wanted to strangle her. Maybe he would. The next time he could convince her to down some Long Island Iced Teas, he'd fuck her from behind and see if she was into anal kinky sex. It'd be a win-win. He'd get his little fantasy of choking her out and she'd probably cum in buckets. It'd be great!
That would NOT be happening for a very long time.
Delilah was staying far away from those damn drinks that messed up her memory. "Almost time for my match." She pulled Jon against her by the arm and leaned up, brushing her lips softly against his, smiling when he tried deepening it. "Ah-ah, later. Go kick some ass."
This was a pay-per-view event and they both had to be on their A game. Ratings were good for AEW so far since its inception, but good wasn't the same as great. She wanted to be as great as WWE and she knew Jon felt the same way. Walking out of the dressing room, Delilah jogged to gorilla position and once her music hit, it was game time.
"Would you believe Delilah is with the Purveyor of Violence, Jon Moxley? I couldn't believe it when I saw it just an hour ago on his Twitter account!"
"Hard to believe, Excalibur, and this is a big night for Delilah. If she wins this fatal four-way match, it will catapult her to the next level in the women's division and put her in line for an AEW women's championship title shot, no doubt! Moxley though…"
"How 'bout we focus on the match instead of gossipin' or speculatin' 'bout her love life, gentlemen?" Good Ol' JR, Jim Ross, suggested with a shake of his head, his eyes on the monitor watching Delilah make her entrance with a fierceness not very many women in today's sport had.
Kenny thought she was winning tonight, but Delilah had to earn her way to the top and refused to take the title right out the gate. Britt was a fantastic champion and deserved to hold the title longer, but that didn't mean the women wouldn't put on one hell of a match tonight. Britt would be watching from the back with a big smile on her face, proud of the women's division and how it was shaping up in AEW so far.
There was a reason Jon kept things to himself and kept up the 'I'm a tech moron' façade, just so he could avoid the public scrutiny and all that. He was good with having a private life staying confidential, so that picture would be the only thing anyone got from him. Jon was watching the match from backstage, chewing a bit obnoxiously on a large stalk of celery he had taken from Chris's locker room. He also had stolen the 'bubbly', that was in the bottom of his bag for later, waiting for Chris to realize it was gone, snickering slightly. All that silver hair, he whistled around his mouthful of celery, knowing damn well that he was the last thing on Delilah's mind right now; she was all business and it showed.
Everything else had to be shoved to the back burner, including these memories, this feeling, that kept popping up out of nowhere. No, her main focus was on Riho, Nyla Rose, and Yuka Sakazaki, wanting to make the women look as good as possible as well as herself. They'd had countless matches together in the Indies, they knew each other and their styles very well and had amazing chemistry. From the moment the bell rang, they took each other to the absolute limit, each woman showcasing what they could do in the ring. Nyla Rose came out looking like a monster heel and Delilah, Riho, and Yuka were the fighters that refused to die, refused to give up. In the end,Riho slapped her finisher on Yuka in the center of the ring and she tapped out before Delilah or Nyla could make the save. Delilah had a slight bloody nose, thanks to one of Nyla's elbows nailing her halfway through the match.
Even though she lost, she didn't eat the pinfall, so that still made Delilah come out looking strong and a contender for the women's title. Delilah rolled out of the ring a few minutes later, gathering her wits, and held her fist up to the crowd, who gave her a standing ovation for a hell of a match against the other three women. One day. One day, they would be standing and cheering for her as she held the AEW women's championship. Tilting her head back, Delilah made it through the curtain and was instantly given a towel by a stagehand, thanking them while pressing it to her nose.
It wasn't broken, thankfully.
From behind Moxley, Omega snorted and shook his head when the other man turned around. His eyes narrowed in on the fresh piece of celery Jon procured from…he had no idea and didn't want to know. "And here I thought they were going to cater to her right out the gate, glad to see the other rookies put her in her place."
There Omega went with that rookie garbage again. "You know, Ty-dumb," Jon was well aware the purposeful way he spoke, which was eccentric as hell, had an effect on people. "I'm starting to think you don't, uh, like me."
"I don't. I think you're an overhyped, out-of-control, luna-" Kenny shut the hell up just in time to avoid getting prechewed celery in his open mouth.
Delilah spotted that and shook her head, heading right past the men to the trainer's room. Nyla was apologizing up and down for that stiff elbow and Delilah kept shrugging it off, not bothered by it in the slightest. "We're not in this business to do ballet, sweetie. It's fine, it happens, and it just added more to the match." Adding blood to a match, even if it was an accident, made it look more gritty and violent, which the fans loved.
