(Hello everyone, Sonicfighter here with a new chapter of Mosley: A Different Path. In this chapter, we go 25 years where Mosley along with his family are treated as equals to humans. As always, I don't own Mosley. It belongs to its rightful owner)
Mosley: A Different Path
Chapter 2: Twenty-Five Years Later
25 years has passed since Mosley and his mother were bought by Dudley. Their new home is a three-story manor built from granite stone surrounded by several orchards and fields which produce apples, pears, beans, corn, carrots, radishes, tomatos, potatos, onions, wheats, oats, barley, lemons, squash, sod and even herbs for cooking and health products. The barn is well maintained and to Mosley and Annabelle's (the name of Mosley's mother) surprise, has other Thoriphants. 26 to be precise. They greeted Mosley and his mother warmly and said Dudley treated them with a great deal of respect. Unlike the other owners who viewed them as nothing more than animals, Dudley sees them as equals to humans. Instead of a whip, he uses words. If a Thoriphant is injured and cannot work, they are given several days off and are looked at by a doctor.
Dudley isn't the only one at the estate as he has people working for him, farmers, doctors, blacksmiths as well as carpenters and weavers. And there's also another different between Dudley and the other owners: he never sold any of his Thoriphants. To him, they are not property or even animals, but family and he cannot sell family. The reasons are because his parents, who opposed the practice of Thoriphant slavery, taught him that all live is sacred and freedom is the right of all sentient beings. It was due to these factors that Dudley hated the Thoriphant slave trade with a burning passion. Also instead of other owners, the Thoriphants don't live in barns, but rather in their own individual huts made from sandstone each 20 by 20 square foot. The huts also have heated tiles for added comfort during the Winter. The estate also have a bathhouse for Thoriphants to relax after a hard day's work and to chat.
During these last twenty-five years he lived there, Mosley is treated with love, kindness and respect. At night, Mosley along with several other young Thoriphants are told stories of mighty heroes from ancient times. And there's one other thing: Dudley is fascinated with the legend of the Uprights told by his father when he was a boy. In his spare time, he plays music, carve and even paint. All related to Thoriphants. However, this made Dudley look odd to the other people since he treated the Thoriphants like equals instead of the animals they are.
Mosley and his mother live a comfortable live. He even meets Bera who is a kind, headstrong and caring Thoriphant with olive green eyes. Like Mosley, she too was bought by Dudley from an auction and spared her from getting sold to a cruel owner.
In time, Mosley and Bera fell in love and eventually marry and have a son name Rue who is energetic like most kids are and is loved by all in the estate both human and Thoriphant. Though he gets himself into trouble as kids often do. He also made a few secret places around the estate. However, not all was good. A few years after Rue was born, Annabelle got sick. The doctors did all they could, but she dies one night in her sleep. She was buried along with the other Thoriphants who died tragically in a cemetery close to the estate. And there are times when traders come to buy the Thoriphants, but Dudley said that they are not for sale and sometimes use force to scare them away. But it wasn't all bad as one day Bera announced that Rue's going to be a brother, much to everyone's amazement.
The sun rises over the estate as Mosley was the first to wake up as he opens the door of his hut. He smiles and takes a deep breath, taking in the morning air as he sighs. He then walks over to his family who are sleeping on a large mat with blankets. Rue wakes up just as Mosley pours water into the bowl.
"Papa." Rue said to Mosley as he yawned.
After Bera wakes up and the three had breakfast, comprising of sliced apples, bread and pears, they walked over to the barn where farming tools and equipments are kept. Mosley hooks the plow on the harness. Rue jumps as he tries to hook the other side, much to Mosley and Bera's amusement he finally got it attached. Mosley then got himself hooked up to the harness as Mosley and Bera kissed.
"See you later." Bera said to his husband as he smiles and nod and walks out of the barn. Rue smiles as he watches his father walks along with the other Thoriphants as the rest of the estate walks up.
"Morning Mosley." A Thoriphant greets him. "Morning Joshua." He answered.
"Good morning, Mosley." A carpenter greets. "Morning, Smith."
"Morning Mosley." Another Thoriphant greet. "Ready for another day?"
Mosley laughs. "You know it, Louis."
"Good morning, Mosley, how's the family?" A farmer said.
"They're fine, Jones." Mosley said.
Mosley stops near the front door of the manor as Dudley walks out wearing his work clothes and stretches his back a bit. He may have other people working for him, but that doesn't mean that he can't work like everybody else and not like the other rich folks who stay inside counting their money and order them around like servants. He also pays his workers and treated them fairly.
"Morning, Dudley." Mosley said with a smile.
"Morning Mosley. Ready to get to work?" Dudley said as Mosley nod.
Dudley grabs the handles of the plow as Mosley pulls it into position. Dudley lifts the plow as it plunges into the soil while Mosley keep walking. Throughout the day, the two plows 3 acres of land for farming. Meanwhile, Bera is being examined by a doctor.
"How's the little one doing?" The doctor said as she places her hands on Bera's pregnant belly.
"It's doing fine." Bera said with a smile.
The doctor smile back as she continues to feel her heavy stomach. "I can feel that this is going to be a strong child. Like it's papa. And it looks like it's due any time now."
"Thank you, Jenny." Bera said to the doctor now known as Jenny as she keeps smiling.
"I recommend that you take it easy for a while. You don't want to cause too much strain on your unborn child." Jenny suggested.
"I'll try." Bera said to Jenny.
Rue meanwhile, is playing with the other Thoriphant kids as they play with a ball.
"I got it!" Rue exclaimed as he caught the ball and passes it to his friends, Abby, Tailor, Becca, Jim and Oskar. The 6 have been friends even since they were born. Abby, a cream-colored Thoriphant with light blue yes is the brain of the group, Tailor, a tan-coloured Thoriphant with emerald green eyes is the smart one, Becca and Jim are twins with the same light brown color and hazel eyes and the nice ones, and finally Oskar, a light green Thoriphant with orange eyes is the goofball and Rue is the adventurist one.
The other Thoriphants are also hard at work, such as moving items from one place to the other, helping their human friends if they're hurt by placing them of their backs and moving them to an infirmary and even providing them with advice. As the day marches on, the estate soon has unexpected company in the form of Bemus and his cronies with the wagon pulled by Turpin, an old Thoriphant who believe in the tales of the Uprights. Some view him as a crazy old Thoriphant for believing in such a tale, but some like Dudley, Mosley, Bera, Rue and everyone in the estate believe him. The kids also love hearing his stories and call him 'uncle' since he is old and wise.
Shank and Ollie are arguing about something before Bemus stop them. "Don't make be turn this wagon over, now!"
"You're not a nice person." Ollie complained to his boss while crossing his arms.
Bemus chuckled as he sees Dudley taking a break with Mosley as the estate owner is eating an apple while giving Mosley a few. "Would you look at that." Bemus said to his assistants.
"How long as he been out here, Bemus?" Shank said to Bemus.
"Since he inherited the place from his parents." Bemus answered. This is true. Dudley his inherited the estate from his parents when he was 18 after they got sick. They died several days later shortly after he bought Mosley and Anabelle.
Dudley saw the wagon coming in and groan in annoyance. "Oh great. What do Bemus want this time?" He said in disgust while he threw away the apple core. Dudley and everyone in the estate hates Bemus not only for being a conman, but because of his business in the Thoriphant 'slave market' as Dudley calls it. Ever since Dudley bought Mosley and Annabelle, Bemus came to the estate on several occasions like selling seeds for planting. "Hope he got the seeds I asked for." Dudley said to himself.
Bemus stopped the wagon next to the estate as all activity comes to a stop and everyone, Thoriphant and human glare at Bemus while his minions set up shop.
"Gentlemen and Ladies, brats of all ages. It's Bemus' Traveling Medicine Show! Bringing you the finest liniments, ointments, elixirs and other health-related products." He finishes with a grin on his face, but no one say anything as they continue to give him heated glares. Bemus losses the smile.
"Tough crowd." He commented.
"Bemus." Dudley said to the conman, not losing his scowl. "Did you bring the seeds I ordered last week?"
Bemus chuckled. "Yeah, but seeds don't buy the rent, slick, and times are hard." This was true. Due to poor weather conditions and bad harvest, people can't make a living and are forced to leave for better land. But Dudley manages to avoid suffering the same fate as the others thanks to his late parents digging an irrigation ditch from nearby river and also constructing a water tower.
"Now, if you give me half a minute here, I got to move some product." Bemus said as he examines Dudley. "My gracious, son. Look at you. You're covered in chigger bites."
"I bet they itch something awful!" Shank said laughing while he and Shank walks up to Dudley and holding a bottle of ointment in one hand behind his back.
"You scratch and scratch and scratch until it starts bleeding." Bemus said pretending to scratch at his face to prove a point, but Dudley wasn't buying it.
"Whatever can be done." Ollie said. But he forgot what to say next as he unfolds a piece of parchment. "' Is there no hope for the working man?'"
Shank then handed his boss the bottle as the conman continues. "That's why you need Bemus' Salve Ointment!" He said as he shows Dudley the bottle. Again, he didn't buy into this garbage since he knew better.
At the same time near the barn, Mosley removes his harness and greets the old Thoriphant. "Hey, Turpin. Haven't seen you in a while. How's your leg?"
"Hello, Mosley." Turpin said to Mosley. "It's a little stiff, but I'll manage."
"You sure?" Mosley asks. "You should have Darlene take a look."
"Thanks for the offer, but like I said, I'll manage." Turpin said, politely turning down the offer.
Bera and Rue came by to see Turpin.
"Papa, Papa!" The young Thoriphant said to his father, thinking he's done for the day. "Are you ready to go now? Are you ready to go now?"
Mosley shushes Rue while motioning his head at Bemus.
"Oops." Rue sheepishly said. "Sorry."
"Hello Rue." Turpin said with a chuckle.
"Hi Mr. Turpin." Rue greets. "Guess what me and my friends found yesterday."
Rue walks up to Turpin and whispers in his ear. "It's in a gullies. It's a cave."
"A what?" Turpin said.
"It's in a gullies. It's a cave." Rue repeated, a little louder as he explains. "There was this slide in there and we were like 'Whoa!', and we were sliding down and- "
"Rue, now's not the best time." Mosley interrupted, causing Rue to lose his smile.
"Come on Rue, Papa's working." Bera said to Rue.
"Slashing profits left and right! Somebody lock me up!" Bemus said, holding up a jail cell window. But again, Dudley wasn't interested as he gets right to the point. "Alright Bemus, you not trying to sell me seeds or your salve. What are you really here for?"
"Okay, okay." Bemus said as he put down the window and walks towards Rue as he holds him up by his tail, much to Mosley and Bera's shock and the others disgust. "He's why I'm here. This youngins ready to go the auction and he's big enough now, well, sort of big enough."
"No!" Dudley exclaimed, knowing what Bemus got in mind and what he's planning to do with Rue. "He's not for sale."
"Not for- "Bemus said before chuckling, thinking it's some kind of a joke as he let go of Rue as the young Thoriphant run back to his mother. "Oh, come on now. I'll make us a good profit."
"I said no! I told these many times before with the others. No Thoriphant is for sale and that's final!"
"Thats the thanks I let your being a friend." Bemus stated.
"We were never friends, Bemus." Dudley said to the conman.
"Rue, go inside." Bera whispered to her son, as he nods and went back to the hut as Bera follows.
"Unbelievable! You got to start thinking like a business man, Dudley. You know if I were you, I add Beggar's Field over there to your property." He said, pointing to a plot of land which is covered in roots and stones. "Plant something really quick and claim it for your own. Before too many folks move here from town."
Dudley looks at the empty plot and sighs. "To be honest, I don't know if I have the time."
Bemus laughs while placing a hand of his shoulder. "Time? You got nothing but time here!"
"That field's no good." Mosley said as he walks towards the group, seeing the empty field has no value for farming.
"Mosley, no." Turpin try to warn, but is too late.
"Excuse me." Mosley said, interrupting Bemus as he, Dudley, Shank and Ollie look at the Thoriphant as he clears his throat.
"Sorry, I don't mean to interrupt, but there's a reason why nobody ever planted in that field. It's full of roots and stones."
Nobody said anything for a few seconds before Bemus and his men start laughing. "What this? Have you start taking advice from your animals now?"
"Are you certain, Mosley?" Dudley said, causing the three to stop laughing.
"Yes. I'm certain."
"He's right." Jones said as he walks up to the group. "Check it myself the other day. Nothing grows over there, not even grass."
Dudley nodded at Mosley and turn to Bemus. "Well, look like you have your answer." His voice then turns serious and glare at him. "And by the way Bemus, what you and those like you call Mosley and the others 'animals', I call family. If you got a problem with that, I suggest you and your goons take that wagon and get off of my land."
Dudley walks away, leaving a shock Bemus. He cannot believe what his ears are hearing. A human taking advice from a Thoriphant. Turpin is equally surprised. Normally, a Thoriphant would get beaten for suggesting any ideas. Still, the old Thoriphant smiles.
"Okay everyone, back to work." Dudley said, urging the others to go back to work as he pat Mosley on his back.
"Good job, Mosley." Mosley smiles as Dudley smiled back.
Later that very night, Bemus and his men left as promised as Dudley and the other workers as well as the Thoriphants gathered around the fireplace for fun after a hard day's work as they chat, eat and laughs.
Mosley along with Rue and Bera are among them as they smile as they enjoy the company.
Suddenly, Bera quietly gasped as she feels the baby kicking.
"Mosley, the calf's kicking." She whispered. Mosley look and see the calf moving in Bera's belly. "Wow." He said in amazement. "He's active, isn't he?"
"He? Could be a she." Bera said.
"Could be, but I got a feeling." Mosley said.
"A feeling huh?" Bera tese as she playfully roll her eyes. "Alright, but it didn't work out for you the last time."
"It didn't? I thought I said a boy last time."
"No, you said a girl." Bera said while chuckling.
"Aye Mosley, you did say that." One worker said to Mosley.
"I did." Mosley said with a chuckle as he and Bera watch Rue playing with his friends. "Well, we got a boy alright." He said as Bera chuckles.
Mosley then yawns as he decides to call it a night, but not before Rue and his friends runs up to him.
"Mr. Mosley, are you ready to go?" Addy said to Mosley.
"Come on, Papa let's go!" Rue said to his father.
"Go? Go where?" Mosley asked the children.
"Our new hiding place in the gullies. Come on!" Jim said as Oskar nodded.
"Maybe another day, kids. It's late and I'm tired." Mosley said to them.
"Mosley, you ought to see this." Bera said to Mosley.
"See what?" Mosley asked.
"Their hiding place." Bera answered.
"What, now?" Mosley said puzzled as his wife nod. "Why?"
"It's because from what the kids told us, there's something...different about what they found." One Thoriphant said.
"Different, how?" Mosley asked, not following what they're saying.
"Mr. Mosley, do you know what we do if we have hands?" Becca said with a smile. This question make Mosley look at the young Thoriphant if she had grown a second head. "What did you say?"
"If we have hands." Becca repeated.
"Yeah, do you know what we'll do if we have them?" Tailor asked.
"Hands?" Mosley asked confused.
"Yes hands." Rue said to his dad. "Like Dudley and the others have them?"
"Kids, what are you all talking about?" Mosley said to the young Thoriphants, not understanding what they're saying.
"Mosley, we should check it out." Dudley said to his friend as he gets up after eating. "And from what the little ones describe, I'm interested to see this hiding place myself."
"Yes, you should see it." Bera urge her husband. Mosley thought about it for a moment. If what Rue and the others is true, then this hiding spot may have something that'll interest him. With a nod, Rue and his friends cheers as they begin to walk out while Mosley follows with Dudley next to him, but not before Dudley told everyone to call it a night.
"Over here!" Oskar called. "Okay, we're coming." Mosley said. Just then, a group of fireflies flew in front of the kids.
"Lightning bugs! Great! You're back! Now we won't get lost in the darkness." Rue said as they follow the fireflies into the forest.
"Hey, hold on kids. Slow down." Mosley said to the children. "Yeah, you should allow us to keep up." Dudley also said.
The group continue to venture deeper into the forest as Rue sings a little song about fireflies.
"Hey Rue, does your mom know how far away you're- "Mosley try to ask before his son and the others run after the fireflies. "And he's gone." Mosley said as Dudley chuckled. "He's kind of like you when you were his age, Mosley." The Thoriphant chuckles. "Yeah. I remember one time then we were playing Hide and Seek when I found a really good hiding spot." Mosley laughs at the memory. "Oh man, was my mom worried."
Dudley laughs as well. "Yeah. It took us all day to find you." He said as the two friends laughs as they continue following the kids.
After what seems like hours, they follow the fireflies and the kids through a patch of grass.
"It's down here guys!" Becca said.
"Okay kids. We're coming. Just give us a minute to caught up." Mosley said.
Rue, Becca, Oskar, Tailor, Abby and Jim stop near a ledge where they see the fireflies close to it as Mosley and Dudley walks next to them.
"Hey, Papa!" Rue shouts before realizing he's close to him as Mosley rolls his eyes. "Hey Papa." He said as he rubs his father's side.
"Okay kids, where's this place you've talked about?" Dudley asked kindly.
"Yes, this is further out than I planned." Mosley said. "Come on, Mosley, where's your scene of adventure?" Dudley asked.
To answer Dudley's question, the children run up to the ledge. Without warning, they jump off the ledge and fell into a hole.
"KIDS!" Mosley and Dudley shouted in horror as they rushed to the edge.
"Rue!" Mosley called into the hole.
"Oskar! Becca! Abby! Jim! Tailor! Are you okay down there?" Dudley also called.
"We're fine, Dudley!" Jim called, much to their relief. "Come down papa, it's fun!" Rue also called.
"Kids, stay where you are!" Mosley said. "We'll, we'll..." The Thoriphant try to say but stop when a firefly flew next to his and Dudley's face as it flew up and out of sight.
Suddenly, the ledge the two are standing on collapse from their weight as they fell into the hole. What fell like forever, which in reality 15 seconds, Mosley and Dudley landed on the ground. Dudley grunts in pain as he gets up. "Mosley, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. A little sore, but I'll live." Mosley said as he gets on his feet as they get a good view of their surroundings. It was a large cave stretching 20 feet up with several roots hanging from the ceiling. It's so dark, Dudley can barely see his hands in front of his face. He cursed himself for not bringing a torch.
The two saw the kids who are looking at the same group of fireflies they've been following as they flew up to what appears to be titles on the wall, then, more fireflies came and illuminated the entire cavern revealing a large mural showing a group of Thoriphants. Unlike the ones back in the estate, these are standing on two legs and wearing clothes.
The sight of it made Mosley and Dudley gasped in surprise. To Dudley, as mentioned before, he heard tales of these kind of Thoriphants, but to see them for real, or at least what's on the wall is a much different story.
"Whoa." Mosley and Dudley said in awe.
"What is this place?" Mosley asked the kids.
"It's our new hiding place, papa." Rue said as he and his friends walk next to the two adults and look at the artwork.
"And somebody even drew on the walls." Jim said.
"Yes, their Thoriphants like us, but they have hands." Abby also said.
Mosley continue to look at the old artwork. "They walk upright. Their backs are not bent." He said, describing the Thoriphants in the artwork.
"And they have hands." Rue said.
"They're so tall." Mosley marveled. "And they have hands."
"Look, that one's playing a flute." Abby said.
"And that one's smoking a pipe." Tailor also said.
Dudley walks toward the artwork and place his hand along it. "Kids, do you realize what this is?" He asked.
"A big drawing?" Oskar guessed.
"Not just any drawing. It's a mural." Dudley said.
"Isn't a mural a kind of art? Becca asked.
"Yes, that's correct." Dudley said as he looks at the painting. "And from the state of the painting, I think it's over 1000 years old."
"1000 years?" The kids said in surprise.
"Give or take." Dudley suggested.
"Kids, how far does this go?" Mosley asked.
"Come on, we'll show you." Rue said as he and his friends move deeper into the cave as Mosley and Dudley follows with the fireflies lighting the area.
As the group continue to walk, they saw more murals of Thoriphants, all of them upright. There's one depicting a harvest with Thoriphants picking fruits from trees and vines and cutting wheat using scythes and sickles. Another mural shows a crowd bowing to a Thoriphant sitting on a throne with a crown on its head.
They soon stop in front of an archway with a drawing of a tree with a sword within it on top of the doorway. Mosley look at the drawing before looking into the dark hall in front of him.
"Have you gone this far in?" Mosley ask Rue.
"No, this was as far as we go." Rue said to his papa.
"Yes, not even the fireflies can go with us." Becca said.
"Maybe to warn you about not to venture further or something." Dudley guessed as he looks at the drawings.
"Do you think they're real or did somebody make them up?" Rue asked.
"I highly doubt these are man-made, Rue. Even if these murals are made by the most skilled artists." Dudley said. "What do you think, Mosley?" But Mosley didn't answer as he continue to look at the archway as if in a trace. "Mosley?" Dudley asked again, but he didn't answer as he thought back to when he first heard the story.
Young Mosley look at a series of drawings on the wooden walls of a barn with his mother and the other Thoriphants. He is curious to what they are as Turpin walks up to the young Thoriphant.
"Hello Mosley. I see you've been looking at my drawings again." He said as he chuckles and sights as he look at his drawings. "I used to be better at it. The fewer teeth I have, the harder it is to hold the chalk."
"What are they Mr. Turpin?" Young Mosley asked.
"They are what we use to be." Turpin said as he tells the story. "Once the Thoriphants were a single, great race. Some fled to the North to escape the evil of men." He said with one drawing of a group of Thoriphants moving left into a city in the mountains.
"While others were left behind. We are the descendants of those who remained. And overtime, under the oppression of man, we changed. Hands were of no use. Only strong backs, bent for labor." Turpin said with another drawing on the right showing the Thoriphant being enslaved by humans as they lose their ability to stand upright and use their hands overtime.
"But why haven't they come for us?" Young Mosley asked. If the Thoriphants who fled know of their brothers and sisters being slaves, why haven't they help a long time ago?
"They don't know we're here." Turpin answered. "They thought they were the last Thoriphants in the world. But some believe one day they will come back." The old Thoriphant show a drawing of an upright Thoriphant helping their enslaved brethren. "Marching through the fields to rescue us. 10 feet tall with massive hands."
Young Mosley is amazed by the story and believe that it to be true. But such hope was quickly short-lived when the barn door opens, causing Mosley, Turpin, Anabelle and the other Thoriphants to look and see not only Warfield, but also several slavers.
"Time to work you miserable animals." One slaver said as he cracks him whip, ordering them to get to work as they walk out of the barn, leaving a scared Mosley.
End Flashback
Mosley thought back to that day and shook his head in disbelief. True, Dudley and others like him are not like the humans who viewed him or his family as no more than animals, but the idea of upright Thoriphants sounds like a child's story.
"No. They're not real. It's just a cruel thing to hope for." Mosley said, much to Dudley and the other's shock.
"But Mosley, do you honestly think that any Thoriphant you know is capable of making something like this?" Dudley asked his longtime friend.
"Well, no but- "
"Mosley, I know you've been through a lot before we meet all those years ago, but just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they are real. "Dudley continues. "Besides, even if these Thoriphants does exist." He said, motioning the murals on the walls. "That means that there may be a change to find them."
"You sure?" Mosley said doubtfully. "We've been enslaved for centuries, yet they still didn't come to help us."
"That's probably became isolated from the outside world over the centuries." Dudley said.
"Even so, it's still a cruel thing to hope for." Mosley said to Dudley.
Dudley was about to argue back, but no words came out of his mouth. He sights and look at the archway.
"Maybe your right, maybe your wrong Mosley." Dudley said. Mosley sight as he shook his head. "Come on. Let's go home." He said to the kids as they all nod. "So, how can we let out of here? Go back the way we came?"
"There's actually an incline we can use to climb back up." Rue said.
"If that's true, why didn't we take that instead of jumping off the ledge?" Dudley asked.
"Well, that way was faster." Oskar admitted.
After getting out of the cave and going back home as well as taking a nice hot bath, Rue said goodnight to his friends as Rue lay down on a pillow and Mosley put a blanket over him.
"Good night, Rue." Mosley said to his son.
"Papa, you know what I do would, if I have hands?" The young thoriphant ask before closing his eyes.
"No, what would you do?" Mosley said, but Rue was already fast asleep.
Bera walks to her husband. "Well, did you see it?" She spoke.
Mosley wanted to say yes, but quickly dismissed the thought from his head. "It's just a cave, Bera."
"It's not just a cave Mosley, it's proof. Proof that the Uprights really do exist. They could be out there somewhere, that cave could lead us to them." Bera said to Mosley.
"The Uprights are just a fairytale." Mosley protest.
"But don't you at least want to know how far that can go?" Bera asked.
Mosley was about to say no, but like with Dudley in the cave, no words came out of his mouth. Even though he just said that the Uprights are a myth, he was curious to know how deep that cave goes.
"In all honesty Bera, yes. I do want to know how far that cave can go." He said before he whispered "And didn't we agree not to tell the kids any stories about the Uprights?"
"I didn't tell them, they found it in on their own." Bera whispered.
"Even so, there are humans out there who want to sell them away. Look, I know that Dudley and the rest of them have treated us fairly, but how long you think that'll last?" Mosley asked his wife.
"As long as he has to." Bera said. "And besides, you do know that they aren't the only ones. There are others like them out there who's against the practice of using Thoriphants as slaves."
"Yes, I know that, but there outnumbered by the slavers." Mosley said before sighting. He knew for a fact that those who protest against Thoriphant slavery stood no chance against those who practice slavery.
Seeing Mosley like this, Bera asked him a question. "Mosley, do you know what I would do if I heard about the Uprights?"
Mosley sigh in annoyance, but decide to humor her. "What would you do?"
"I would go find them." Bera answered firmly.
"You would go?" Mosley asked, a bit surprised by Bera's answer.
"Yes, I would. I would run and run and not stop until I found them." Bera said.
"Really? Despite your…condition?" Mosley said as he looks at Bera's pregnant belly.
"Yes." Bera said as she nods. "Even with this calf growing inside me, I would find them."
Now Mosley was surprised. Now only for Bera's decision about finding the Uprights, but would do it despite her pregnancy. But even so, he still has doubts.
"I'll think about it, Bera." Mosley said as he decides to call it a night as he walks to his bed.
Bera later joins her husband as she lays down next to her with a smile. She then feels something rubbing her belly as she looks to see Rue using her pregnant belly as a pillow. She smiles at her son as she too drift sleep. Thought the three Thoriphants may not know it, but soon their lives are about to change forever.
(That's a wrap for this chapter. As we just saw, Mosley now have a family with a beautiful wife and son, with a second child on the way, though the three are not the only Thoriphants since there are other Thoriphants living on the estate. Unlike Simon from the canon movie, Dudley never treat his Thoriphants like animals and instead treated them as equals to humans as they are given their own induvial huts as well as listening to their advice. I find it dumb that the humans in the movie never once thought about how wrong slavery is, which is why I decide to have several people go against the practice of Thoriphant slavery. To quote the immortal Peter Cullen 'Freedom is the rights of all Sentient Beings'. In the next chapter, Mosley and Dudley go into town to do errands, but soon get in trouble. What that trouble is, you'll soon see. As usual, don't forget to read and review. Until the next chapter, TTFN.)
