Mizuki lay in a puddle of her own blood, twitching and spasming. Her gray eyes rolled into the back of her head, as bile dribbled down her lips onto the floorboards. Aether clutched her to his chest and cried out, "MIZUKI!"
She sputtered, "So … much … stress…How? How can one person be so utterly riddled with trauma?! How?!"
"I'm sorry," said Furina. "I tried to warn you it wasn't a good idea to eat my nightmares."
Aether propped Mizuki up in his lap, wiping away the blood from her mouth. She took a deep breath. Slowly, color returned to her cheeks.
"My dear, Furina," she said shakily, "I think… I'll have to take your nightmares on, little by little from now on. We'll keep going. Please just… give me a minute to recover from my blood loss."
Mizuki sighed. "500 more years' worth of nightmares. I'll never make it…"
