Right now everyone who succeeded in the Entrance Exams are riding by boat to head to Duel Academy. Everyone is settling in, and eagerly chatting about there new lives as students of Duel Academy while Jaden himself is beyond excited over what he, and Yubel will do.
"You did a good job Jaden, but you need to be more careful about the time." Yubel pointed out. "You almost missed the exam."
"I know sorry about that." Jaden said over to her with a smile.
She rolled her eyes before pausing. "Looks like some of your classmates are heading this way."
Jaden looked over to see Syrus and Bastion walking to him.
"Hey guys." Jaden smiled over to them, "You both ready to be at Duel Academy?"
"I hope so, honestly I'm still kind of nervous." Syrus admitted before blinking and glancing at Yubel only to shake his head. "You were really amazing, you might even be the next King of Games."
"Well I am aiming to be the King of Games." Jaden grinned over to him, "Of course we're here to try doing that."
"True, and I don't intend on just sitting down and letting you get the title from under my nose." Bastion mentioned. "I'm already thinking up the formula to defeat you."
"Formula?" Jaden asked hearing that, "You mean a strategy?"
"In a sense, I believe that dueling can be broken down into scientific or mathematical formulas and strategies." Bastion explained. "Given enough time to study a duelist and their dueling style I can come up with the formula to defeat them. You included of course."
"Oh okay, I sorta get it but math's not much of a strong suite of mine." Jaden said now getting it before grinning, "Well I won't be pulling punches if we do duel." He offered a hand to Bastion.
"Likewise, I'm certain our match will be one to remember." Bastion smiled taking his hand.
Jaden grinned while unaware to them there being watched from the corner by a black haired boy wearing a blue blazer. Syrus blinked sensing a presence turning over, and saw nobody which Jaden asks him, "What's wrong Syrus?"
"I thought I saw someone." Syrus answered. "It's probably nerves."
"Yeah probably. It is a bit overwhelming we're actually gonna be students of Duel Academy just stepping forward to become the King of Games!" Jaden said pretty excited.
Syrus and Bastion nodded in agreement as in another part of the ship the black-haired boy was with two other boys in blue blazers.
"He's the one, he beat Dr. Crowler in one move… well two but he went first so he couldn't attack until his second turn." one of them told the black-haired boy.
"So that's him huh?" the black haired boy asked remembering Jaden, "It wouldn't matter since he'll know the hard way, the Chazz Princeton way." He gave a smirk at that.
The two other boys smirked at that. "Of course, nobody's better that you Chazz."
Chazz only smirked before hearing something, and shook his head, 'No... I need to be better then I ever was... It's why I left you behind...'
He felt a disappointed roar that faded as he glanced over to see Jaden smiling and laughing as he talked with Syrus and Bastion. Suddenly an announcement came on, "Attention students. We're about to dock please bring your stuff together."
"Well, let's all do our best at Duel Academy." Jaden smiled.
They both nodded as they head to there storage where there stuff is to get them.
"Everyone form two organized lines to receive your PDA, Blazer, and Academy Duel Disk." mentioned a man with sunglasses.
Everyone lined up given there equipment where Jaden, and Syrus received Red Blazers while Bastion gotten a yellow one. Once everyone had their blazers a screen turned on showing a bald man with a goatee smiling warmly. "Greetings students, I am Sheppard, the chancellor here at Duel Academy." He then added over to them. "And you, are the best and brightest young duelists in the world! Now please, get yourselves settled in at your assigned dorms! I think you'll find them quite comfortable, depending on how you rank, of course!"
Jaden blinked hearing that before grinning. "Looks like we're in the same rank Sy."
"Yeah." Syrus nodded at that before Bastion turned over to them.
"Well I'm a rank above you two so I hope we meet each other again soon." Bastion gave a short smile over to them.
"How is anyone ranked above you?" questioned a female voice as Jaden saw a woman wearing a dark red spandex suit with dark red flames forming in her hands. "You beat one of the highest ranked duelists at this entire school."
"I don't know... it could be fun." Jaden shrugged with a smile.
Burst Mistress frowned before disappearing in frustration.
"What is it?" Bastion asked seeing his look.
"Oh, nothing." Jaden smiled before grinning. "Well, we should look around right? Want to come with us?"
"I'm afraid I have to find my dorm. I wish you luck." Bastion said over with a smile.
"Ok, see you later." Jaden grinned before turning to Syrus. "Come on, let's take a look around Sy."
"Right." Syrus nodded as they walked together looking around the island before entering a arena.
"Whoa, this is a fancy looking field." Jaden smiled.
"Are we even allowed in here?" Syrus asked nervously.
"Well yeah we're students so this is our campus." Jaden assured with a smile.
"What are you Slifer rejects doing here?" questioned a voice as Jaden and Syrus turned to see a group of boys in blue blazers.
"Excuse me?" Jaden asked confused at the name.
"You heard me, this is our arena and Slifer Reds aren't allowed here." mentioned a boy in the blue blazer.
"Oh come on can't we just share? After all we're students here." Jaden said over.
Suddenly one boy widen his eyes, "Hey, that's the guy who beat Dr. Crowler!"
At that Chazz who was sitting stood up. "So you're the one I've heard so much about."
Jaden, and Syrus looked over as Syrus asked nervously, "Who are you?"
"Watch your mouth, that's Chazz Princeton the future King of Games you're looking at." one of the boys in the blue blazers snapped.
Jaden crossed his arms look amused. "Impossible."
"Oh, and how do you figure that?" Chazz questioned.
"Cause I'LL be the King of Games before you." Jaden grinned over to him.
"A Slifer as the King of Games, what a joke." smirked one of the boys in a blue blazer only for Chazz to frown. "Hold on, he might have a point. After all this Slifer somehow beat Crowler. Maybe he isn't all talk."
"Thank you-"
"However... was it skill or luck?" Chazz headed down smirking at Jaden, "Who is really suited as King of Games me, or you?"
"And you want an answer now?" Jaden asked hearing that with a grin.
"Of course, unless you're afraid." Chazz smirked only to pause as he noticed Yubel only to frown and shake his head. "So what do you say?"
"Bring it!" Jaden grinned before looking at Yubel, "You set?"
"I am, but… does he look familiar?" Yubel asked.
Jaden hearing that looked over to Chazz before he admitted, "Yeah he kind of does."
"What do you think you're doing?"
Hearing that they looked over seeing Alexis walking in looking displeased.
"Oh hey Alexis you here to see welcome my new friend?" Chazz asked her with a grin.
"No, I'm here to remind you about the welcome dinner your late too." Alexis pointed out to him crossing her arms.
"Oh yeah, almost forgot about that. We'll settle this later." he told Jaden.
With that they the Obelisk Blues walked off leaving Alexis with Jaden, and Syrus while the blue haired boy said to her, "Thanks for that, I wasn't sure if Jaden has a chance against him."
"I don't know, but you two should head back to your dorm for the Slifer welcoming dinner." Alexis mentioned before pausing as she glanced at Jaden before softly shaking her head as she walked off. 'We'll have to see that monster of his another time Venus.'
"Pardon me my liedge?" a dark warrior with a big shield asked Jaden, "Shouldn't we attend the welcome dinner?"
"Oh yeah, come on Sy." Jaden grinned. "I'm starving after the boat trip."
Syrus nodded before they headed off to the Slifer Dorm. Eventually they reached the dorm as Syrus's eyes widened.
"This is where we're supposed to live, it's an outhouse with a deck." he frowned.
"Hey it can work." Jaden shrugged with a smile, "It's cozy if nothing else."
"I guess..." Syrus frowned.
They walked up arriving in there room which is a bit small with a bunk bed of three beds.
"It's kind of dark in here." Syrus mentioned opening the blinds.
"Hey, those were closed for a reason!" a angry voice snapped.
Hearing that they looked only to see a large boy who looked like a koala as Syrus and Jaden screamed.
"Bear!" they cried together.
"Would you stop screaming!?" the koala like boy snapped already irriatated.
"Who... who are you?" Jaden asked him.
The boy's response was a rather rude one as he turned his back on them and laid his head comfortably in his pillow, confusing the two new roommates, and there friends, as he explained "You're new here. So, let's me tell you how things work around here."
"What things?" Jaden asked him.
The boy answered, "Duh! Like how the whole color thing works? That's more important than anything! You've got three different kinds of students here! Obelisk Blue students, Ra Yellow students, and Slifer Red students. Now, the Blues are the highest-ranked students; some kids are blue because of their grades, others through connections. The Yellows are second highest; mostly younger students with lots of potential. Then, there are us: The Red Wonders."
"Red Wonders, that sounds good." Jaden smiled.
However the boy pointed out, "As in, 'I wonder how flunkies like us ever got this far,' maybe. Yeah, sorry. But we're bottom of the barrel down here. Dueling duds. Oh, I'm Chumley Huffington by the way."
"Dueling duds." Syrus frowned hearing that.
"It's alright Sy, if we're starting at the bottom there's nowhere to go but up." Jaden smiled. He then checks the clock on the wall, "Now come on time for some grub."
Syrus nodded in agreement as they went down to the dorm's cafeteria. So they head down, and there tray consist of soup, a bowl of rice, and some sardines.
"Not exactly a gourmet meal." mentioned a male figure in a bright green bird outfit with wings.
"It still looks good." Without listening to headmaster's speech Jaden started to dig in.
"Jaden, everyone's staring at you." Yubel told him with a frown.
Seeing a shadow Jaden chuckled a little nervous from the smile the headmaster who is a glasses wearing brown haired man with a brown tabby cat behind, "Well, since some of us don't feel like waiting... Let's just eat."
"Sounds good." Jaden smiled at that.
So after the meal was when everyone is turning in for the night.
"Well... I have to say not a bad first day." Jaden admitted over to Yubel.
"No, but we need to talk about something." Yubel frowned.
Jaden turned over to her curiously, "Is something wrong Yubel?"
"I'm not sure, but you noticed didn't you?" she asked him. "There are several people already that seem to be able to see me. Some more than others but it's been a long time since you've dueled people who can see duel spirits."
Jaden cupped his chin before admitting, "Well there's that girl Alexis... she seemed to have notice something else from me."
"You felt it too then?" Terra Firma asked appearing. "There's something about her, but I can't place it."
"What do you mean?" Jaden asked curiously.
"There's something about her." Terra Firma explained. "Id suggest trying to duel her at some point."
"Syrus too, confidence aside he seems to be able to at least sense my presence." Yubel added.
Jaden nodded before his PDA started ringing.
"Huh, hello?" he asked picking it up.
The picture turned to static before what appeared was Chazz's smirking face. "Hey there Jaden, you think your so tough? Well why not we settle our earlier dispute at the arena right now?"
Jaden's eyes widened before he grinned. "Sounds good to me."
"You better be careful your majesty." the black armored shield warrior voiced over to him.
"I'll be alright." Jaden smiled. "Besides, I know I can always count on you guys and Yubel just like my Elemental HEROs."
"So we're next?" the dark suited woman asked with a smirk.
"Yup." Jaden nodded switching his decks before heading out to go meet up with Chazz for their duel.
With that Jaden with Syrus who notices headed off arriving at the arena.
"So you didn't chicken out." Chazz smirked over to Jaden.
"I don't run from a duel." Jaden mentioned. "So get set to get your game on Chazz."
Chazz merely smirked readying his Duel Disk. Jaden did the same. "You can go first."
They prepared their Duel Disks.

At that a dark armored soldier wielding a sword rose up.

Jaden only grinned as Chazz and Alexis both saw Yubel smirk knowingly.
"Sorry Chazz, but that trap has to target my monster and thanks to Dark Fusion you can't target Inferno Wing this turn." Jaden revealed as flames engulfed the tendrils destroying them.
"What?" Chazz asked shocked while Reborn Zombie reappeared from Chthonian Polymer's effect failing while the card reset as Chazz growled in annoyance, "You knew I'd steal it?"
"No, but I can't summon Inferno Wing without using Dark Fusion." Jaden answered. "But I can attack Reborn Zombie with Inferno Wing!"
While Inferno Wing charged a large blue flame blast Alexis looked shocked from seeing Yubel, 'Who is that?' Inferno Wing fired the blast striking Reborn Zombie while Chazz grunt from the attack. (Chazz: 3500/Hand: 3)
"Hey! Chazz's Reborn Zombie's in Defense Position how did he take damage!?" one of the Obelisk Blue asked shocked seeing Chazz took damage.
"It's one of her sweet abilities. See if Inferno Wing attacks a monster in defense mode and her attack points are higher than your monster's defense points you take the difference as damage." Jaden explained. "Plus, when she destroys a monster in battle you take damage equal to your monster's original attack or defense points whichever one happens to be higher. Which means you lose life points equal to Reborn Zombie's 1600 defense points."
Inferno Wing summoned a blue flame wave which engulf Chazz who grunted before using his waves to get the flames away. (Chazz: 1900/Hand: 3)
"Now Blasted Shadow can attack Chthonian Soldier." Jaden called.
The second monster charged, and attacked Chthonian Soldier which caused more damage to Chazz. (Chazz: 1800/Hand: 3)
Suddenly Chthonian Soldier's sword flew over to Jaden.
"Huh?" he asked before grunting as it hit him.

"What just happened?"
Chazz despite in a disadvantage smirked to him, "Surprised? When a monster destroys Chthonian Soldier you take the damage with me!"
Jaden's eyes widened. "That's a pretty sweet ability Chazz, I'll just set one more card and end my turn. Oh, and you can target Inferno Wing now, Dark Fusion only protects my monster for one turn."

Jaden just smiled. "Wait, a... now I know I've seen you before."
"What?" Chazz looks up to him confused.
"When I was younger, I saw you compete in tournaments and do really well... but, I don't remember you playing cards like those." Jaden mentioned. "What happened to your dragons?"
Chazz's eyes widen hearing that while Syrus blinked confused, "Wait you know him Jaden?"
"Not personally, and it took a while but the name sounded familiar." Jaden nodded. "I definitely remember watching him duel when I was younger... he was a great duelist."
"This Slacker seen Chazz?" one of the Obelisks asked surprised.
"Well it was a known tournament so of course he would but dragons?" the second asked confused, "Chazz never used any dragons. Well... except for one."
"Yeah, I know." the first Obelisk agreed.
"What do you mean by dragons though?" Syrus asked Jaden.
"Chazz played a deck of really awesome dragon monsters." Jaden answered. "I wish I could remember the three he always brought out to win, but they were amazing cards... I don't know what's going on but that's the Chazz I want to duel before I become King of Games."
"That Chazz is dead." they looked over to see who's head lowered to where shadow covers his eyes, "I abandoned that old me."
"What, but why?" Jaden questioned hearing that.
"I buried that Deck so I can be at the top of my game. It would hold me back if I stay true to form so I will advance to King of Games with a new start... and now here, starting with you, I will be the King of Games." Chazz looked up with a glare. "I will be better then I ever was without that Deck!"
Jaden's eyes widened in shock.
"Jaden..." Yubel started only for him to nod.
"Yeah, I feel the same way." Jaden agreed. "Chazz, you had a bond with those cards and you just buried them? That's just wrong, and I'll prove how the bond with your cards means a lot more by taking you down in this duel with my own partner."
"You think you can BEAT the new Chazz!? Try saying that after this!" Chazz takes a card calling, "Monster Reborn come!"

A flame portal appeared before what emerged was a large black plated armored dragon with large bat wings having silver linings having a large red orb in it's chest, a long tail shaped as a spear, and smaller wings on it's lower back roaring loud.

Jaden's eyes widened. "I use the effect of Evil HERO Dark Shield in my hand, I summon him in defense position and negate your attack!" The same shield warrior appeared blocking the flame tackle.

Burst Mistress fired flames which struck Chazz as he grunted. (Chazz: 1000/Hand: 1) Chazz glared, "Whatever! Emperor Dragon use your second attack on that Blast Shadow!" Emperor Dragon turned to flames again on Blast Shadow.
Jaden grunted as the flames destroyed his only monster in attack mode.

"I set 1 card down, and end my turn!" Chazz ended his turn, "And you know you can only win with a Fusion Monster! Try it, and I'll use Chthonian Polymer to take it!"

Jaden drew his card and closed his eyes. "I sacrifice Burst Mistress and Shadow Wing in order to summon Yubel!" The two vanished before what appeared was Yubel who has crossed arms with a smirk.

"What is that?" Syrus asked shocked seeing Yubel, "I never seen her before."
"Neither have I..." Alexis trailed off admitting before thinking, 'That's the same monster I just saw... but what's Jaden planning to do with her?'
That's when Syrus paused, he had seen something kind of like Yubel but he couldn't really make it out... it was like a shadow near Jaden.
"It's your move Chazz." Jaden mentioned.

Chazz 4th Turn:
Chazz although really confused from Jaden summon something with no attack points didn't stop with a growl, "Fine lose if you want!" He drew but didn't look at what he drawn, "Emperor Dragon attack her now!"
Emperor Dragon's eyes glowed before enveloped in a flame jet charging down at Yubel.
"I activate Yubel's special ability." Jaden revealed. "She can't be destroyed in battle and I don't take any damage, instead when you attack Yubel you take damage equal to your monster's attack points. Nightmare Pain!"
"What!?"
Yubel smirked as she got hit but thorned vines appeared around Chazz swirling striking him with her ability as he looked on in shock before getting on both knees.

Jaden wins!
"No way!" one of the Obelisks said shocked.
"Chazz lost!" the other called in shock.
"You can't just abandon your partners Chazz, you'll never be the King of Games that way." Jaden mentioned as he smiled at Yubel as she faded. "Next time, I want to duel the Chazz I saw years ago."
Chazz looked up at this from this but with a different expression. No he has the same expression that Jaden saw him have before. Seeing that Jaden smiled just as Alexis's eyes widened hearing footsteps.
"Ah! We better leave security's coming!" Alexis called to them.
"Huh but why? Aren't we students here?" Jaden asked confused.
"Duels off hours are prohibited. I kept that so we won't have any distractions." Chazz explained standing up, "Next time we duel won't have this one. You'll be against the Chazz you know before." With that said he moves to get out.
Jaden blinked before smiling. "I'm looking forward to it."
With that he ran out with Syrus and Alexis just before the security arrived.
Chazz was still in thought after he left. So he left behind the two Obelisks with him walking off. Soon he arrived at a spot beside a tree where what looks like a dug spot had been covered a while ago as he knelled down placing his hand on it, "You guys... Someone reminded me who I was... I'm sorry I lost my way... but now we're fighting together for now on."
He heard an understanding roar as the silhouette of a dragon appeared above him and wrapped its wings around his body.
Chazz gave a short smile before after grabbing a small shovel started to dig into the ditch. Soon after a bit he sees something, and reached in pulling out a Deck Box that's white with a golden pattern over it while having a diamond configuration at the back of 4 gems Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, and Emerald.
Closing his eyes he took the deck box before heading back to the Obelisk Dorm with a smile on his face before it faded into a look of determined confidence. While walking he looks into the Deck Box pulling out a card as he read the name, "Light and Darkness Dragon..."
The card seemed to glow as the same silhouette appeared above him. Chazz looked up. "I'm sorry about leaving..."
The silhouette roared in understanding as two more appeared and nodded in understanding, one white and the other black. Chazz smiled looking at the card, and Deck.
Ulrich362: Well, it looks like Jaden got through to Chazz... though what dragons was he talking about?

Ulrich362: True, I guess we'll have to find out soon. Though with that said next up will be a cameo from a minor character and maybe an interesting duel?
