Chapter 1: Soldier of a New World...

Vice City, 1984. Fort Baxter Air Base.

The military van's engine hummed steadily as it passed the gate of Fort Baxter. The sun had barely risen, casting long shadows over the concrete structures and steel fences. The air carried the scent of sea salt mixed with diesel, a reminder that Vice City was a place of both beauty and corruption.

Inside the van, Naruto Uzumaki sat silently, dressed in military greens, boots polished to a shine, and his iconic blond hair slightly tamed under a cap. His face was expressionless, but his mind was racing.

This isn't Konoha anymore… not even close.

It had been six months since he mysteriously woke up in this world—one where chakra didn't exist, where people rode machines instead of summoning jutsu. Yet here he was, serving in the U.S. Army, under the alias Victor Vance, trying to make a living to support his sick younger brother Lance.

The van slowed and came to a stop. The sliding door was yanked open, and Naruto stepped down into the base. Immediately, he spotted the sleazy, grinning face of Sergeant Jerry Martinez—a man reeking of sweat, ego, and something darker.

"Vic! I mean, Naruto!" Jerry greeted, slapping him hard on the shoulder. "Welcome to the party, amigo! This is Fort Baxter, your new home away from home."

Naruto narrowed his eyes slightly. "Just tell me what needs to be done."

Jerry raised his hands mockingly. "Relax, killer. You're just in time for a little favor I need. Real low-risk stuff."

Naruto followed Martinez across the base to the docks, where a small patrol boat waited. The sun gleamed off the water as Martinez handed him a small key and a location slip.

"Down near the airport docks. There's a package I need you to retrieve. Don't ask what's in it, just grab it and stash it in your den afterward."

Naruto's fingers tightened around the key. He knew smuggling was off the books. But Jerry had been keeping his younger brother Lance on military medical support, and that leverage was enough.

"No questions," Naruto muttered, stepping onto the boat.

Viceport Docks - Near Escobar International

The ride was quiet, the boat skipping across the blue surface like a kunai thrown low and fast. Naruto kept his eyes scanning the shoreline, more out of habit than necessity.

When he arrived, he docked carefully and walked toward a discreet marker behind a stacked shipping container. Hidden beneath a tarp was a small crate—locked, but clearly not empty. As he lifted it, he felt the telltale clink of glass vials. He had smuggled worse in the shinobi world. Still, something about it made his gut churn.

As he made his way back to the boat, his new pager buzzed. He picked it up and read the message:

FROM: MARTINEZ

"Job done? Good. Stash the stuff in your den. Don't screw this up, hero."

Naruto scoffed. "Tch. Hero, huh? Not anymore."

Vice City Mainland – Naruto's Apartment (Den)

The sun was setting now, casting an orange hue over the city. Naruto pulled the boat up behind the derelict apartments he was temporarily housed in. From the outside, the place looked like it had survived a war—cracked windows, rusted railings, and the smell of mold and rot in the hallways.

He climbed the stairs to his one-room den. A mattress on the floor, a half-broken TV, and a desk with nothing but a lamp. In the corner, a picture of Lance—his only family in this world—taped to the wall.

Naruto placed the package in a hidden spot under the floorboards, then sat on the bed, staring at the flickering bulb overhead.

Flashback – 3 Months Earlier

Naruto remembered the first time he met Jerry Martinez. The sergeant had taken a liking to Naruto's calm but intense demeanor.

"You're not like the others, Vance. You've seen things, huh?" Jerry had said.

Naruto didn't answer. He never spoke of the world he came from. Of the Nine Tails, or Konoha, or Sakura, Sasuke, or Kakashi. Not anymore.

Jerry had laughed. "Strong, silent type. I like it. You do your jobs for me, I'll keep your brother breathing. That fair?"

Naruto had nodded. It wasn't fair. But it was necessary.

Present Day...

Back in the present, Naruto stood by the window, watching the neon lights begin to dance in the Vice City night. He felt like a shadow here—hiding behind the name Victor Vance, taking orders from corrupt officers, walking the thin line between survival and submission.

His pager buzzed again.

FROM: MARTINEZ

"Nice work today. Come see me tomorrow. Got a real treat for you."

Naruto sighed. He had the skills of a shinobi and the soul of a warrior, but now he was just a pawn in a dirty game. The world had changed around him, but the fight… the fight never stopped.

He looked out into the city, and for a moment, the fire returned to his eyes.

If I have to play by this world's rules… fine. But when I rise, I'll rise above all of you.
