Lucina sat in silence on the ride back to Ylisstol. Grima could be killed, but it would cost Robin's life to do so. The princess damned fate for being so cruel to her yet again. Robin had promised Chrom that he'd let the prince deal the final blow to seal Grima away, but Lucina knew her husband better. He'd made up his mind the moment he heard he could rid the world of the fell dragon for good. Lucina wanted to stop him, to demand that he remain back in Ylisstol and let the world figure out how to stop Grima again in 1000 years from now, but she knew Robin would find a way to ensure he was there to say the beast. All the blunette could do was hope the tactician changed his mind in the journey to come, in the meantime she decided to spend every last moment she could with her beloved Robin.
Lucina wanted to make these last few days the most special ones Robin would ever have, but to do that would tip him off that she knew what he was planning and she didn't want him to torture himself over knowing she was preparing to lose him, so the princess let the days pass like any others they shared together. The couple sparred, ate, talked, and slept together. Lucina would look at her husband with sorrow whenever he found himself preoccupied, usually when reading. She thought of all the precious moments they had spent together; getting to know one another, meeting their own future daughter, and when Robin asked her to spend the rest of her life with him to name a few. Lucina lost count of how often tears would well up in her eyes. Robin would catch her every now and then and asked what was wrong, to which she blamed Grima's resurrection as the cause. Her tactician would hold her and promise that everything would be ok but Lucina knew that wouldn't be the case.
The last day before their ascent to Origin Peak was very quiet. There was no sense of tension in the air, no aura of finality upon them, it felt very unceremonious for Lucina's last full day with the man she loved more than anything else. The two of them merely sat together in their quarters on the ship that crossed the sea to their destination. Lucina stroked Robin's hair while he rubbed her back. Lucina wished that this day would last forever, that Robin would just be selfish for once in his life and stay with them, anything that would let her spend the rest of her life with him, but she knew such thoughts were simply wishful thinking. That night when they settled in for bed Lucina hugged her husband extra tight as they drifted off to sleep, and she swore that just before her eyes fell heavy and the last fragments of consciousness receded for the night that he was holding her just as tightly.
