During a cloudy afternoon in the forest near Yokai Academy, Tsukune was busy with training with Mizore by throwing icy kunais against some wooden targets. It passed various days from their mortal battle against Kuyou and his decision to protect the school from evil monsters, so all of her injuries completely healed.
Since he received a special knife from the principal that could see a yokai's power, he asked his girlfriend to help him with ameliorating his ability in throwing knives after the lessons. She gladly complied with his request, smiling when he managed to hit another target perfectly.

Moka greeted the couple as well once she saw them, asking him embarassed if she could drink some of his blood. Mizore frowned, avoiding to complain and he let the vampire have a little of his blood.
'I'd prefer if everyone else doesn't stare at us during this.', he thought, sweatdropping. It was true that the yukionna was his girlfriend, still he promised Moka to give her some of his blood long time ago. So what they were doing wasn't anything of new.
"Ah! How dare you! You're giving him a hickey in public while I can't even hug him!", exclaimed Kurumu once she arrived.
"Y-you're wrong! I'm just drinking his blood!", retorted the pinkette, red as a tomato.
"Tsukune's mine!", exclaimed the snowgirl, clinging onto his arm possessively and generating some cold air.
"Girls, calm down please. Good morning by the way, Kurumu.", he said instead, trying to defuse the discussion. It had the opposite effect though, as the bluenette smiled for being greeted and clung onto him too, annoying Mizore more.
The other students, along Ginei, laughed in front of the situation to his chagrin. Despite he and the yukionna were an official couple, he still attracted quite the attention of other girls. In fact, the mermaids of the swimming club, who watched the scene, wanted to hug him as well.
Anyways, he and his friends entered in the school building then and reached their class for the first lesson with Nekonome-sensei. Maybe he wasn't a good student when he began his life in the new school, but in comparison to before, he ameliorated and was able to take notes better during the explanation.
Moka was still the best with top grades in their class, still he was better than Kurumu that continued to be kinda lazy when it came to studying. He was also glad that they were still friends after he rejected her due to his feelings for Mizore, since she, along several other people, was important to him.
They were even his drive to not hesitate to fight other yokais again if they dared to attack them, as he had the sealing knife hidden in his shirt to use it in any occasion. He hadn't tested its power yet, but he trusted what the principal told him.
When the morning lessons ended, he went to the canteen with the girls to have lunch together, sweatdropping because his beloved wanted to feed him sweetly. "I can eat on my own."
"Then could I get fed instead?", she asked him with puppy eyes. That expression striked his heart for how adorable she was, so he complied despite his evident blush.
"Hey, that's not fair! I want to be fed too mouu!"
"This is my privilege as his girlfriend fufu.", was the smugly reply of Mizore to the succubus, who got a tick mark. Moka sweatdropped and tried to stop them while he gave a spoon of rice to the snow woman.
In another part of the school, precisely in a room with just a light, there were 3 guys sitting around some desks. "Do you think we can take control of the academy now that the Safety Committee got destroyed?", asked one of them with spiky hair and earrings.
"I'm not sure. That Aono Tsukune killed two of the enforcers without using his monster form…And Akashiya Moka is scary.", answered another one with long green hair and without his necktie.
"Pfft, I heard that she gets weaker if she comes into contact with water. That yukionna is who makes me more worried obsessed as she is with that guy.", said the third with a mocking tone.
He then began to explain them a plan that he had in mind. Something that he was certain would help to get rid of Tsukune and his friends, allowing them to take control of the school ad they desired.
Unbeknownst to them, there was a person outside of the room that happened to listen to everything they said, whose expression was already pretty angry. That person was the captain of the swimming club, Tamao Ichinose, who couldn't believe that there were still wicked yokais in the academy.
'I can't let them hurt Tsukune-sama and his friends. I have to warn him.', she thought, grimacing at remembering what she tried to do to him in the past. She and the other mermaids were horrible for using their club to drain life force from men, but after he forgave them despite everything, they had decided to change.
They taught new members how to swim properly and even if he had Mizore as his girlfriend, they were still his fans. Especially after he risked his own life to save everyone from the committee that terrorized them.
She was aware of Moka's weakness because she exploited it too in their fight, which was why she would help her and Tsukune to fight together the other mermaids. They didn't want to stay still and watch like when he fought Kuyou because he was an important friend for them. He was who changed into better people like he did with Kurumu and others, after all.
Maybe he was way different now because his ruthless attitude when it came to killing enemies, still she could feel that he didn't lose his kind heart. In fact, he was currently following the afternoon lessons while smiling back each time his eyes met Mizore's ones.
Their interactions didn't pass unobserved by their classmates, since the succubus was biting her nail in total jealousy. If the snow woman were to hear the plan of those evil monsters, she wouldn't hesitate to attack them immediately even alone.
No one had to dare to hurt her beloved Tsukune because after all the attacks he received, she wasn't going to be merciful with anyone. The same went for him because he would use the sealing knife against everyone that tried to harm him or innocent people. And chapter 17 is here, everyone! Well, it seems that Tsukune took the role of protector quite seriously, since he's already dedicated to training together with his girlfriend. As I wrote in earlier chapters, I planned to make him a different type of monster in comparison to the manga.
He's seen as a hero by almost everyone and the love between him and Mizore stays always strong, but it looks like there are still some evil yokais as the principal suspected that want to harm the boy and his friends. Tamao heard everything though and she will warn him of course, so stay tuned to see how the future fight will go.
