Title: At Long Last - A Wedding Bells Alternate
Category: Who's the Boss
Summary: What happens when you mix too much wine and a secret love?
Rating:NC-17, NSFW, M
Spoilers: Wedding Bells
Disclaimer: I don't own these characters.

This story contains content for mature audiences only - please be warned. If people want, I can try to mark the sections so you can skip those parts if you prefer not to read them but still want the rest of the story. If enough people ask I can try!

This story is complete (I think) but it has multiple chapters. I'll upload them as fast as I can. I kept them to 1200-1500 words for the most part because I think that's manageable to read without having to binge the whole thing!

Did you ever write something and read it later and think you could have done a better job and wish you could have a do-over? I sometimes think that with this story. Anyway, posting as it, maybe someday I'll revisit it.

I wrote most of these a long time ago. I apologize for any mistakes, but I will try to edit as I go!

I'm moving my Who's the Boss fics from various other sites to here. Feedback welcome - good or bad - and appreciated :) Enjoy.

20.

The next day Tony tells everyone at breakfast that he's got something special planned after dinner and they must all be there.

"It's Saturday night!" Sam complains.

"Yeah, some of us have plans," Mona chimes in.

"Well, they'll have to wait. I've got something I wanna say and you all have to be there to hear it."

"Angela… what's that on your finger?"

Everyone looks, and Angela covers her hand with the other. She looks to Tony.

"Okay! Okay, okay. Look, Angela and I… Angela and I, we've decided to get married."

"What!" comes a chorus of voices. The excited and shocked words from everyone come at once in a jumble.

"Hold it, hold it!" Tony says, to quiet them down. "Yes. We're getting married."

"When? How? Why…?" Mona asks.

"Mother!"

"Why, well, because we're in love, that's why. And when… well, I don't know when. But soon. It's gonna be real soon. Maybe… maybe Valentine's Day."

"Valentine's Day? Dad, that's in a couple of weeks…."

"What's a couple of weeks! Come on, that's plenty of time!"

"Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute," Mona says. "Are you…." She looks at both of them very carefully. "Angela, can I speak to you in the other room for a moment." Mona stands up and walks into the living room. Angela looks at Tony before getting up and following.

Mona turns to her and looks her up and down. "You're pregnant."

"Mother…."

"Well? Are you?"

Angela sighs. "Yes, I am."

"What? Angela, how did this happen? No, I know how it happens, but… it happened with Tony?"

"Yes."

"When?"

"Um…."

"More than once? How many times? When did you find time? Why didn't I know?"

"It's… it's very complicated mother…."

"It's not that complicated. Sit down and tell me everything."

"It just… happened. We didn't plan it."

"Of course not. When did this happen?"

"Um, well, you know Wendy Whitner's party for Paul and Isabelle? It happened in October."

"That long ago? And you didn't say anything?"

"We weren't planning on doing it again. We weren't planning on doing anything, actually."

"Twice? That's it?"

"Well, no, not exactly. The last time was around Christmas."

"Three times. You've only done it three times? What's the problem? Is he not good? Are you not good?"

"Mother! My god. No, we were supposed to be slowly exploring a relationship. This baby thing was a surprise, and… I don't know mother, are we rushing into this? We impulsively slept together, we said we wouldn't decide anything about our relationship, that we would go slow, and suddenly now that I'm pregnant we're going to get married. What if he's doing this out of some sense of duty or -"

"Angela! Angela, stop. Do you love Tony?"

Angela knows she has to tell the truth. "Yes. I do."

"And I know he loves you. Anyone can see it, Angela. Be happy. Enjoy this. I'm happy."

"Are you?"

"I'm very happy! Another grandchild on the way, the chef of the house isn't going anywhere, what more can I ask for? I'm very happy for you, dear." Mona reaches out to hug her, and an emotional Angela begins to cry.

"I'm happy too," she manages.

"Oh, Angela, quit crying. When are you going to tell the children?"

"We were supposed to talk about all of this over dinner. Not the baby part yet, but at least the marriage part."

"They will be ecstatic! They've always wanted you two to get married! Oh, Angela, this is the fantastic news! I am still too young to be a grandmother, but I suppose it's too late for all of that now. Alright, I'm going to celebrate."

"Where are you going?"

"To make plans for tonight. This grandmother isn't going to sit at home knitting!"

Angela shakes her head as Mona leaves. She sits back on the couch, looking at her engagement ring. So much change in just a few months. Was it moving too fast?

She doesn't have time to think about it because Tony and the kids burst in from the kitchen.

"Kids, leave Angela alone…."

"Angela, can I help you pick your dress?" Sam asks.

"Mom, will Tony be my dad?"

"He'll be your step-dad, dummy. Just like Angela will be my step-mom," Sam smiles.

"I'm glad," Jonathan says, "Tony will never leave us now."

"I'm not going nowhere, buddy!" Tony says.

Angela smiles. At least the children are happy. Tony sits beside her on the couch.

"Everything okay?" he asks Angela, quietly.

"Yeah. Mother just had… questions."

"Did she guess…?"

"Yeah," Angela confirms.

"And?"

"She's very happy."

"Good," Tony grins. "Me too. So, kids, whaddya think? A wedding here, in the living room? It's too cold to have it outside. Or we can go to a courthouse, just us, the family, and have a big dinner celebration later. Or, I don't know, we can go somewhere sunny, like a beautiful beach in Hawaii or something."

"We're not flying to Hawaii," Angela says.

"Okay, so Hawaii is out."

"Why not a big wedding," Sam says, "with a lot of bridesmaids and flowers and a big white dress and doves…."

"Doves?" Angela laughs.

"Yeah, I saw it on tv, we can release white doves…. It'll be so romantic!"

"What do you think, Jonathan?" Tony asks.

"I don't know about doves, but if you get married outside there will be a lot of creatures there."

Tony and Angela laugh. "I don't know about doves or other creatures," Angela says. "Maybe we can get married here. We can keep it small, maybe 20 or 30 people. We can cater a little lunch after."

"If that's what you want, you got it," Tony says, looking at her like he'll give her the world if she asks. Angela feels her heart flutter. "What do you say, kids?"

"Are you sure we can't go to the everglades in Florida?" Jonathan asks.

"I'm sure," Angela says quickly.

"Can I help you plan it?" Sam asks, excitedly.

"Sure," Angela says.

They chatter excitedly and Angela relaxes against Tony. With this much happiness, how can this be wrong?
