I sit on a bench as I hear the clashing of swords not far from me. I hear people cheer every time the weapons clash. I let out a breath as I try to calm my nerves. After a few minutes I hear the announcer declare one side the winner as the people cheer for him.

Soon I hear the announcer "And now introducing our next two fighters. On one side we have Brock from Coco Village." Brock stands up and walks to the center of the arena.

He looks like a big muscular giant wearing very little armor except for leather pauldrons with the straps crossing over his chest as he brandishes his big threatening axe.

"On the other side we have Samuel from Lon Lon Village" I stand up as I walk to the center of the arena.

I check my armor as I tighten the straps hearing the metal clanging against each other before I roll my shoulders making sure that it is right but loose enough to move around. I draw my sword and hold it in front of me waiting for the announcer.

"You might as well give up now little boy" Brock grins at me challengingly. "Nobody will think too bad of you if you do."

I scoff at his challenge "And miss this fight? Not a chance" I grin back at him.

"Things are already getting heated up folks between our two fighters" says the announcer " Let's give them the countdown"

"3!" I look up to see everyone holding up three fingers.

"2!" I look back at my opponent and I see that he is gripping his axe tighter, getting ready for the fight.

"1!"I grip my sword as I get ready to run as soon as I can, hoping to beat his strength with my speed.

"Fight!" I hear the announcer and the audience yell.

I rush forward and slide into a baseball slide as I feel his axe swing over my head. I swing at his arm, noticing that my slash didn't do much except give him a small cut.

I grit my teeth in frustration as I continue to get closer barely hearing the announcer shouting that I drew first blood in this match as the crowd starts cheering. Brock brings his axe over his head and brings it down in my path.

I move out of the way as Brock grins and opens his mouth to say something "ARE YOU GOING TO SLEEP ALL DAY!?"

I quickly jump up and flail around a bit before I hit my face on something really hard as I feel the dream start to fade away.

"Oww" I say as I pick myself off of the hardwood floor. "Who say what?" I say tiredly still not fully awake.

"Shouldn't you be training or something? Some legendary hero you are" I hear as I turn towards the speaker.

"Well excuse me Princess. Not all of us have to be so busy."

Zelda looks down at me with a huff. She is wearing a sky blue summer dress with brown pants. Her golden hair, normally braided, hangs freely as the light streams in from the nearby window hitting her hair perfectly.

We stare at each other not saying a word until it is too much for me and my face twitches in amusement. My amusement sets off Zelda as we both start laughing.

"Come on Sam. You were supposed to take me to Castle Town today" Zelda whines in a joking manner using my nickname.

"You know sometimes I think you'd rather live in Castle Town rather than at the Castle Zel" I joke back using hers.

She groans as she crosses her arms and looks at me with a pout "You don't have to deal with all of those stuffy nobles and all their rules like why I have to eat bread with a knife and fork rather than my hands."

I laugh out loud at the image of Zelda with a snooty look on her face as she eats some bread with her hands as if taunting the nobles enters my mind.

"You are absolutely hilarious Zel. Let me get dressed and washed up and we can go" I tell her as I get to my feet, brushing myself off from the tumble.

"Fine" She says as she turns away and opens the door "Don't make me wait too long or I'll drag you out whether you are ready or not."

"Oh Princess" I look at her with a cocky smirk on my face. "I think you're still a few years too early to see my splendor."

Zelda rolls her eyes "Just hurry up you idiot." She says as she heads outside and closes the door.

I groan as I stretch my body, letting my tiredness fade away. I walk over to a basin filled with water as I splash my face, relishing in the coolness in the water as I look at my reflected face in the water.

I have wispy brown hair with green eyes like the grass in the plains. My reflection is so familiar I've almost forgotten that I woke up in this world with this new body.

I lift my head up as I remember that fateful day that everything in my life changed.

Flashback

My name is Samuel Johnson and I had just finished my work shift as I'm walking home in the cool night. I soon got lost in my thoughts as I hear the cars pass me, the tires spraying water from the rain earlier today.

Honestly my life wasn't the greatest. Always struggling academically I ended up in a basic job that pays somewhat well but always wanting me to strive for more, to live for more.

I sigh as I approach a street light "Man, what a day. Can't wait to play some Tears of the Kingdom, eat junk food and sit around for the next two days." I say tiredly with a bit of sarcasm

The walk light turns on as I make my way across the street "Sometimes I wish I didn't have to live this monotonous life. Eat, work, sleep. Eat, work, sleep. Off for two days trying to find something to do only to go back to work to start it all again."

A smile graces my face as I remember the Legend of Zelda games I've played.

Breath of the Wild, the exploration of the new Hyrule and all of its vast and challenging land, it's unique dungeons and rewards, and defeating Ganon, saving Zelda.

The prequel Age of Calamity showing you Hyrule 100 years ago and the battles that were fought in those days and the development of the characters in that new timeline.

And now Tears of the Kingdom, the newest game. Showing Ganondorf and the truth of Hyrule's beginning and more importantly, the Zonai. It was a theory, rarely talked about, that came true.

After only getting about halfway through the game I was excited to see what else was available in this new world with all of its new mechanics.

I was so lost in thought I made it back to my apartment. I grab my keys out of my pocket and unlock the door as I step inside my apartment.

My apartment is very modest with a few pieces of furniture and some pictures of me. I kick my shoes off at the door as I take my jacket and place it on the hook.

"Alright let's get ready for the night." I say yawning loudly.

I make my way over to the fridge and grab some leftover meat stew. After turning on the microwave I get started booting up the Switch console and opening the game.

Soon I'm battling enemies, exploring the land, completing quests and both cheering in victory or cursing in defeat.

As I struggle to keep my eyes open, I let out a yawn and soon my body relaxes, lulling me to sleep from the sounds of the game. The last thing I hear is a draconic roar as I drift off to sleep.

3rd Person POV

As Samuel lay asleep in bed, the Switch screen flashed once, then a second time before flashing a third time light shining all over the room.

Soon a young woman's voice echoes through the room saying "Please help us."

An older woman's voice soon follows, saying "Come, my champion."

Soon the light recedes before the game shuts down, turning off for the night in the empty apartment.

Samuel POV

Location ?

I don't know how long I had slept but I soon woke up and I moved to check my watch to see how long I slept only to find it gone.

Realizing this I start to notice other strange things. The air smells clean with grass underneath me. I groan as I sit up and start to slowly open my eyes.

I'm surrounded by trees with daylight gleaming through the leaves all around me. "What in the" I groan out as I try to wake up and piece together what is going on.

"I know I'm not drunk or high cause I don't do either." I stand up and look around. It looks like I'm definitely in a forest but not one I've ever seen. The grass is too high and there's lots of shrubbery and trees.

"Well no point in standing here. Might as well try to find something." With no obvious direction I pick one and just start walking.

After wandering around in what feels like circles I finally hear a noise. It was a snort followed by some guttural noises. Cautiously I walk towards the sound as it gets louder and peek around a tree as my eyes pop out of my skull and my brain shuts off at what I'm seeing.

"What the…"

I recognized the creature before me. It was red with a pig snout and bat like ears with a sharp piece of bone coming out of its head. It had a skull necklace with a loincloth as it's only piece of clothing. I could see two others just like it all grouped around the campfire burning in front of them.

One of them was holding a wooden club in its hand while it jumped in some manner while the other two sat by the fire, their weapons laid leaning on a nearby log.

"Bokoblins? That's impossible. But that would mean…" I whisper to myself as I try to restart my brain into operating with survival instincts starting to kick in.

I slowly back away, getting a good distance until I hear the dreadful noise underneath my feet.

Snap

I hear a twig snap under my feet as the Bokoblins look over and see me, our eyes lock before my body fills up with dread and most of all, Fear.

I start running, not caring about noise anymore, as I hear guttural cries behind me. I have no idea how long I ran or even how long it was as it felt like an eternity but I soon heard the Bokoblins starting to catch up.

Having no weapons or even training I can't do anything but run. "Somebody help me" I cry desperately hoping someone, anyone, can help me.

I trip over a tree root as I skid across the ground, my body burning with pain as I see light ahead of me. Pushing myself off the ground I use all of my energy trying to run towards that light.

I almost make it before I hear the cry of the Bokoblins behind me. I turn to see only to see its club in motion which I instinctively use my left arm to block my body.

The wooden club smashes into my left arm, shockwaves of pain and agony like I've never experienced shoot through my body as I'm flung into the light and I crash on the ground, the sun shining brightly above me.

The Bokoblin cries in victory as another Bokoblin jumps and swings its club in a downward swing, promising pain and death. I use my right arm to brace myself, as I look under my arm seeing it get closer and closer, as I slowly accept my painful death.

Suddenly an arrow hits it dead in the side of the head, its club falling out of its dying hands. The other Bokoblins stare in confusion at their partners death before they cry out in rage

"Slay them all!" I hear loudly as I look to my left, seeing three people on horseback wearing gray knightly armor.

I see two of them peel off the third urging their horses towards the Bokoblins as the Bokoblins cry out in fear racing back towards the forest. One of the knights nocks an arrow, killing the second one as the third makes it back into the forest.

The third knight trots his horse close to me as I see him dismount. I can see gold around the edges of his armor probably indicating a high rank. My adrenaline starts to disappear as pain washes over my body as I try to keep my eyes open.

The knight kneels next to me and says "You're safe now" in a deep baritone voice as I feel the darkness claim me.

A/N The flashback is going to continue into the next chapter. This whole thing may stretch a few chapters but when I'm done I will put down a "End Flashback" bring us back to this chapter to continue
