Chapter 14; A Viking and Pokemon for Hire
Before we start, I have to answer the question from Heartdrop21.
The question; What happened to Eric's friends, and are we going to see them again?
My answer; You see everyone at the Crystal Pond was transported to this world, but the blast separated them. I will have Eric find his lost friends and Pokemon again, but I am saving the reunion for later chapters.
Now onto the Story.
In the world, everyone has a place. Some are born into it, like Stoick was born to be a leader. Some discover theirs, like Hiccup when he bonded with Toothless. And some make a place for themselves, like Gobber who made weapons to fight dragons. But now the world has changed, and the need to fight dragons is over, and that means Gobber has no place in this world anymore.
At the Dragon Academy, Hiccup was testing the knowledge of the other Riders with a fun little game. "Every dragon has his own unique abilities that give it its special place in the world. Which dragon makes the best welding torch?" Hiccup said to the Rider, which were split into two teams. One team was Eric, Honorstream, Knight, Tera, Astrid, Stormfly, Spikeball, Fishlegs, Meatlug, and Sparky. The other teams were Snotlout, Hookfang, Hookblade, Ruffnut, Pinch, Tuffnut, Sting, and Barf and Belch. Astrid then said to Hiccup. "Oh, Deadly Nadder."
"It's magnesium flame burns with the heat of the sun." Fishlegs said and then Hiccup said as Flare added pointed to their score. "Correct. Point to Team Astrid. Score is now 100 to 10."
"And you started with 10." Astrid said to the other team. Tuffnut then said to Astrid's team. "Oh, yeah? Well, the game's not over. Wait, what team am I on?"
"Team Snotlout, the one with 10 points." Eric said and then Hiccup said. "Next question. What is the shot limit of a Hideous Zippleback, Team Snotlout?"
"I don't think they can even count that high." Astrid said before Eric said. "I don't think they can even count."
"Oh, really? Let's find out. Barf, Belch." Ruffnut said and Barf and Belch fired at Team Astrid. Barf and Belch fired all six shots at them, and Tuffnut said to Hiccup. "Looks like it's about three."
"Told you we could count that high." Ruffnut said to Team Astrid. Hiccup then said to Team Snotlout. "It's six. You were half-right. Five points."
"Yes! We're up to 30." Ruffnut said and their team high fived one another. Astrid then said to them. "All right, it's our turn. What happens when you shoot fire at the owner of a Deadly Nadder?" Astrid then commanded Stormfly to fire her quills at them, pinning them to the wall. "No fair. She didn't give us time to answer." Tuffnut said as their Pokemon tried to help them down. Once Snotlout was freed, he said as he walked up to Hookfang. "What happens when I sick Hookfang on you?"
"I'll retaliate with Honorstream." Eric said before Hiccup said. "Okay, guys, that's enough training. So we did some really good work here today."
"Prepare to face the Monstrous Nightmare!" Snotlout said before he touched Hookfang's jaw, to wake up Hookfang, who was sleeping. Hookfang then woke up and roared before he lit himself on fire. "That's the third time this week!" Snotlout said as he jumped off Hookfang and ran to the water trough for dragons and Pokemon. Once the fire was out, Snotlout said with a sigh. "Sweet relief."
"Hookfang never flames up when you are riding him. Is he okay?" Hiccup said to Snotlout. Astrid then said to Hiccup. "Maybe he just realized who his owner is."
"Yeah, heck even Hookblade doesn't even listen most of the time." Eric said and Hiccup agreed. Everyone then went to do their own things. Hiccup was walking through the town with Toothless, Flare, and Knack when he heard Gobber say. "Gather around. Come on, one and all." Hiccup, Toothless, Flare, and Knack went to Gobber shop, and there they saw that Gobber was trying to sell the dragon-killing weapons as everyday tools. Like axe's were now bread cutters, swords and toenails clippers and ear cleaners. As Coal brought out more weapons, Gobber said to everyone. "You may think these dragon-killing weapons have no more use, but think again." Gobber then pulled out a long sword and said. "This long sword is now a lovely butter knife." Gobber then used it on a piece of bread with butter, but the sword destroyed it and the plate. Once Gobber was done, he looked at the destroyed bread, and then said to everyone. "Moving on."
"Well, this is a dark day. A great dragon slayer peddling his weapons as kitchen utensils." Mildew said to Hiccup, and it annoyed Toothless, Flare, and Knack, but not Hiccup. Hiccup was too focused on Gobber, who said to the crowd as he pulled out a mace. "Up next, how about this– uh…" Then a fly started to buzz around him, and then Gobber said. "Handy fly swatter." Gobber then used the mace to hit the fly on his table. It destroyed the table, but not the fly. Gobber then said to everyone. "Also good for getting rid of unwanted tables." Gobber then threw Coal the mace, and said as he walked over to a catapult he had. "Now, for the lady of the house. When the hubby's off pillaging, and the BattleMon are not feeling too great, how are you going to protect yourself from home invaders? No problem when you have Big Bertha." Then Gobber tapped the catapult and it caused it to fire the rock into a hut. Then Gobber said as the crowd started to disperse. "Wait. There's more. Come back. You haven't seen everything yet! I haven't cleared out my dungeon yet!
"Oh, it's hard to watch. Especially for you, eh, Hiccup? The feelings of guilt must be tearing at your insides. I mean, you put him out of business with your little peace pact with dragons. You ruined his life." Mildew said to Hiccup as Gobber was cleaning up his weapons. "It's okay, Bertha. We'll find a place for ya." Gobber said to the catapult as Coal put it away. Mildew then left, and while Mildew was being a grade A jerk, he wasn't entirely wrong. Because of Hiccup, Gobber didn't have a place in the world anymore, and that feeling of guilt was starting to eat away at Hiccup.
Late that night, In Hiccup's house, Hiccup was sitting next to the fireplace with Toothless, Flare, and Knack. Toothless, Flare, and Knack noticed the sad look on Hiccup's face. Hiccup then said to them. "I'm fine guys, I just need to help him, like how he helped me. Why if it wasn't for Gobber, I wouldn't have everything I need to make Toothless tail. And he even made this for me?" Hiccup said as they all looked at his metal leg. The door then opened and Stoick and Sword Walker entered the house. Stoick took a seat on his chair and Sword Walker was getting Stoick something to drink. Hiccup then said to Stoick. "Tough day of chiefing, Dad?"
"We were all over the island. We married the svensson girl to the odegaard boy at dawn, then down to the fields where some kids were tipping over yaks, then back up to the newlyweds to settle a domestic dispute. I guess that honeymoon is over." Stoick said as Sword Walker gave him a drink. Stoick took it, and Sword Walker went to his spot and started to get some rest. After Stoick took a drink, he said to Hiccup. "Sometimes I wish there were more than me and Sword Walker." Hiccup then got an idea and said to Stoick. "There are more than you two!"
"Is that another crack about my weight?"
"No, I mean Gobber and Coal. They can be the other you."
"Gobber and Coal? Oh, they're way too busy making all those dragon-killing… Eh, well, used to be, until you… Which is great, except for Gobber and Coal."
"Exactly my point."
"You know, that's actually not such a bad idea. I could use some extra hands." Stoick said, and the following day Stoick and Sword Walker were joined by Gobber and Coal. "I greatly appreciate you two helping us out, Gobber, Coal." Stoick said to them, and Gobber said to Stoick. "I'm just glad I could find time in our busy schedule, Stoick."
"We've got a full day ahead of us. Here's your half." Stoick said as he pulled out a list and tore it in half. Stoick gave Gobber his half and Gobber said to Stoick. "Oh, this'll be interesting."
"Now remember, some of these situations are delicate. They require diplomacy."
"Oh, no problem. I'm great at… that."
"Really? You can speak to people with tact and sensitivity?"
"Oh, I thought it meant clubbing people on the head and asking questions later, but I can give your thing a shot." Gobber said as they split up. Then for the day, Gobber tried to help with Stoick's duty's, but he was making a mess of it. First, Gobber was introducing a new baby to the tribe, but Gobber didn't agree with the name after seeing the baby, so he gave the baby a male name, but the baby was a girl. The parents of the baby weren't happy, and to make matters worse Gobber gave the baby a mace as a teething toy. Next when Bucket and Mulch were fighting because of a sheep Mulch bought. So Gobber gave them weapons and left them to fight it out. And the last thing was when Gobber was fixing a boat. Now instead of using wood, he used metal patches to fix the boat. Now before Gobber released the boat, Stoick appeared with Sword Walker and all of the people Gobber made mad today. Coal, who was silently following Gobber the whole time, motioned Gobber to Stoick, who said to Gobber. "Gobber! What do you think you're doing?"
"Just checking another item off the list." Gobber said as he released the boat into the water. The moment the boat reached the water, it sank. "And adding an item for later." Gobber said before adding "Recover sunken ship" to his list. Gobber then said to Stoick. "Same time tomorrow?" Stoick was mad, and that night once he got home, Sword Walker gave him a two block of ice. Hiccup saw this and said as Sword Walker was getting Stoick a drink. "Wow, a two-block headache. You know, Dad, I think you're being a wee bit rough on Gobber and Coal. It was their first day. Tomorrow will be way better."
"Oh, it will be for us because it won't involve Gobber or Coal."
"What do you mean?"
"I tried to fit a square peg in a round hole, and it sank a ship and named a baby girl "Magnus". Now, I'm not saying she didn't look like a Magnus, but try telling that to her parents."
"I can't believe you let him go. We've got to help him."
"We" don't have to do anything. You, on the other hand, are going to be very busy finding a job for Gobber and Coal." Stoick said and Hiccup thought long and hard about it, but only came up with one idea.
"Let me get these straight. You are sad that Gobber and Coal have lost their place in the world, and after your first idea didn't work. You thought the next best thing was to have them come back here?" Eric said the following afternoon as all of the Dragon Riders were in the Dragon Academy when Hiccup told them his idea. Hiccup then said to them. "He's gonna be great. Nobody knows dragons like Old Gobber. He has spent a lifetime, you know, studying them. If we can tap into that, we'll all become better Dragon Trainers."
"We're back! Did you miss us?" Gobber said as he, Coal and a cart full of weapons entered the arena. While Toothless and Honorstream were ok, the other dragons got a little scared. Everyone noticed the scared dragons, and Hiccup said to Gobber as the others clam their dragons down. "First of all, uh, welcome. Uh, and second, uh, tiny question. Why, uh, did you bring your, you know…"
"Killing things? I thought maybe we could train them… By threatening to kill them. That's how my Daddy taught me to swim." Gobber said as he pulled out one of his bigger weapons. The dragons heard him, and then Gobber said after smashing the ground with a big ball and chain. "School's in session!" All of the dragons, minus Toothless and Honerstream then ran out of the exit and flew away at great speed. Gobber then said as everyone watched the dragons fly away. "Eh, I didn't like school either."
"Gobber, that's enough you can go home for the day. Hiccup, you and I need to talk. Everyone else goes after your dragons." Eric said and everyone left. Once they were gone, Eric said to Hiccup. "Hiccup, I know you are trying to help Gobber, and you want him to help us, but we can't have him teaching if his idea of teaching is trying to kill them and us."
"Yeah, I know. I just don't know what to do with him and Coal."
"You know if I have trouble with a problem and can't think of a way to solve it. Then let's think about something less, like my Pokeball problem."
"Wait, Gobber can build those, we just need to think of the right materials." Hiccup said before taking an empty Pokeball from Eric. Hiccup then took a seat on the floor with Toothless, Flare, and Knack joined him. Hours later, the Dragon Riders had returned and the moment they got off the dragons, they started to stretch. Hiccup then got up and said. "What's wrong with you guys?"
"Ugh, we've been riding our dragons for four hours. It took forever to chase them down after Gobber scared them away." Astrid said to Hiccup, and Hiccup said to her. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that." Then they heard the sound of the twins kicking one another. Hiccup then said to them. "Do you guys always have to fight?"
"It's okay, I asked her to do that." Tuffnut said before Eric said. "Why?"
"We're just trying to get the feeling back." Tuffnut said before Ruffnut said. "You gonna return the favor, or what?"
"Huh? I've flown for hours on Toothless, and I've never had a problem." Hiccup said before Eric said. "It's the same with me and Honorstream."
"That's because you two have a saddle." Astrid said and that gave Hiccup an idea. A little later, Hiccup had drawn up some ideas for saddles and the blueprints for the Pokeballs and gave them to Gobber. Gobber took them and after Hiccup showed how the Pokeball worked, Gobber said. "Make saddles for dragons, and objects to help carry a large number of BattleMon's? I love it! I've got so many ideas. And while I'll take the list to make this "BattleBalls" I won't need the rest." Gobber ripped off the list from the blueprints, and then dropped the rest of Hiccup's drawings. Hiccup picked up his papers and said. "I'm glad you're excited, but I still think there are some things in my designs you could use. I mean, you did teach me everything I know."
"Exactly. That's why you should let Gobber do what Gobber does best. I've been making saddles since you were in diapers. In fact, I made your diapers."
"I know you know what you're doing, but keep in mind, every dragon is different. So, you need to adjust the—"
"Hiccup."
"But—"
"Hiccup."
"But I just think—"
"Hiccup. I may have taught you everything you know, but I haven't taught you everything I know." Gobber said as he got ready to work. Hiccup chose to let it go and returned later that night with Toothless, Flare, and Knack, but they stopped outside when they heard Gobber singing. "I've got my axe, and I've got my mace. And I love my wife with the ugly face. I'm a Viking through and through."
"You know, he doesn't sing that song unless he's actually very happy. I think we did a good thing." Hiccup said to Toothless, Flare, and Knack before they left. The following day, at the Dragon Academy. Gobber had his saddles covered with a tarp, along with a small crate. "All right, this is an exciting day for all of us. Gobber has been working hard to–" Hiccup said to them, but was interrupted by Gobber, who said to them. "I think they might want to hear from the artist himself. I've made a lot of saddles in my day. Horse, donkey, and now dragons. But these saddles are special. They're like my children. That is, if you strapped your child to a flaming reptile and rode it. And these BattleBalls as I call them will help us transport BattleMons. So without further ado…" Coal then removed the tarp and everything he made had weapons with it. Eric then picked up a sword that had a Hisuian-like Pokeball as the guard hilt, and Eric said to Gobber. "And how does this work?"
"Like this." Gobber said as he pulled out a single hand mace that had a Pokeball in the center. Gobber then touched Coal with the mace and it opened up, pulling Coal inside. It shocked three times before it flashed, letting everyone know that Coal was caught. Gobber then motioned the mace to release Coal. Hiccup then said to Gobber. "Uh, Gobber… This is certainly not what I imagined."
"How could it be? I'm Gobber. Nobody knows what it's like to live here."
"Is that why you put a flamethrower in this saddle?" Eric said as he, Knight and Tera went to one of the saddles. This saddle had a dust blower with a barrel of oil and a lit flame. Eric used the dust blower and it created a flamethrower effect. Gobber then said to them. "Didn't see that one coming, did you?"
"Uh, no. Not for dragons. They come with one built in, actually." Hiccup said and then Gobber said. "I know, but can you ever really have too much firepower?"
"Ok, but why did you make the saddle for the twin's have catapults?" Eric said as the twins' saddle came with catapults and rocks. When the twin's used it, the rock hit the back of Barf and Belch heads, knocking them down. "Yeah, catapults for the twins? Not such a good idea."
"And why did you give Meatlug four very big and very heavy maces?" Eric said to Gobber as Meatlug's saddle was like how Eric described it, and it was so heavy that Meatlug couldn't take off with Fishlegs and Sparky. Gobber then said to Eric. "Oh come on! You can't tell me my saddle is heavier than Fishlegs."
"My Mom says I'm just husky." Fishlegs said to everyone. Then Snotlout put the flamethrower saddle on Hookfang. But Hookfang didn't like it and shook it off. "Come on, Hookfang. What's wrong with you?" Snotlout said to Hookfang, before Hookfang moved away from him. Snotlout then said to the others. "That's it. Someone's trading with me."
"Yeah, sure. I'll trade my perfect dragon for an angry oven." Tuffnut said before Astrid placed the last saddle on Stormfly and flew around with it for a while. "This saddle's actually pretty good. And I like this BattleBall." Astrid said as she placed the last saddle on Stormfly and used a Pokeball that was on the back of a battle ax. Astrid then let Spikeball out of the ax, and Gobber said to her. "Wait till you try the horn." Astrid then used the small horn that was part of the saddle, but the moment she blew into it, the horn unfolded into a bigger horn and made a very loud sound. Stormfly was so scared by the sound that she fired her quills at Snotlout. Snotlout was pinned to the wall and said again. "Really? Again?"
"So anyway, I think we're really gonna need to make a few–" Hiccup said to Gobber, but stopped when Gobber said. "Changes. I'm way ahead of you. I've got so many ideas. It's getting crowded up here." Gobber said before he and Coal left. Then Eric gave Hiccup a broom and said. "You made this mess, you cleaned it up." Everyone then left and Hiccup was cleaning up Gobber's mess. Toothless, Flare, and Knack stayed. As the sun started to set Stoick arrived and said. "My Odin. This place looked better when we were killing dragons here. Oh this is nice." Stoick pulled out the great battle axes that had the Pokeball at the end of the handle. Hiccup stopped cleaning and said to Stoick, pulling out Knack's Pokeball. "That a weapon version of Eric's Pokeballs that Gobber made into a weapon that he called a BattleBall."
"And what does a Pokeball do?"
"This." Hiccup said before returning Flare to his Pokeball, then summoned him back out. Stoick did the same with Sword Walker. After Sword Walker was caught, Stoick let Sword Walker out and then said to Hiccup. "This will help us with bringing BattleMon on missions."
"Yeah, and for these places. We sort of got Gobbered."
"Well, you know Gobber. He means well. He just doesn't always do well. So what are you gonna do about him?"
"I'm gonna clean up his messes, redo his work with the saddles, and add a way to take off the Pokeball from the weapon."
"Look, Gobber's like family."
"Yeah, I know he is. That's why I can't say anything to him."
"No, son, that's why you have to. It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to Gobber."
"Why do I have to say something to him? You didn't. You just passed him off to me."
"That's what the chief does. He delegates. Look, I gave you this academy because it's the best thing for Berk. Now, you have to do what's best for the academy. And I'm sorry, son, but what's best is very rarely what's easy."
"Ok, I'll talk to Gobber."
"Good, but what about him?" Stoick said, pointing to Snotlout, who was still pinned on the wall and was sleeping. Hiccup then said to Stoick. "Leave him. He's going for a record."
"Enough said." Stoick said before they all left the academy. That night, Hiccup, Toothless, Flare, and Knack had arrived at Gobber shop. "Hey, you never know, guys. Maybe Gobber finally looked at my plans and is actually making the saddles and Pokeballs better." Hiccup said to Toothless, Flare, and Knack before a small explosion came from Gobber's shop. "Or not." Hiccup said before he, and he alone, entered Gobber's shop. Once Hiccup was inside, Gobber pointed a crossbow at Hiccup, and Hiccup said, raising his hands. "Don't shoot!"
"I would never shoot you, Hiccup. Unless I absolutely had to."
"Yeah. Still, if you could please put the crossbow down, I know I'd feel better." Hiccup said and Gobber put down the crossbow. Gobber then said to Hiccup. "You know, about the weapons? Maybe the catapults were a bit much for some of the dragons. So I've gone a different way. I've gotten rid of the two big ones."
"Gobber, that's great,"
"And replaced them with six little ones!" Gobber said, showing Hiccup a catapult no bigger than a spoon. Hiccup then said to Gobber. "Yeah, um… Gobber, we need to talk. Uh, I think it might be time for you to take a little break."
"In case you hadn't noticed, the only time a Viking takes a break is to die."
"Maybe "break" is the wrong word. What I mean is I'm not sure things are working out."
"Well, get back to me when you're sure."
"Okay, I'm sure. *sigh* Gobber, I'm gonna need to take you off the saddle and Pokeball projects." Hiccup said and that caused Gobber to stop working. After a moment, Gobber said to Hiccup. "Are you getting rid of me, Hiccup? Now I see why you had me put down the crossbow."
"That was just the saddles and the Pokeballs. We'll find something else for you."
"I don't need your pity. I've lost an arm and a leg. I think I'll survive losing a job."
"I'm really sorry, Gobber." Hiccup said before he left, and Coal confort Gobber. Once Hiccup was outside, he said to Toothless, Flare, and Knack. "Well, that was awful. I don't know what could be worse than that." Then a dragoned roared. They all turned to the sound and saw a fire breath attack and people running. "Okay, looks like I'm about to find out." Hiccup said before Snotlout and Hookblade appeared. Snotlout then said to Hiccup. "I never… thought… I'd say this… But, Hiccup… Help!"
"What is going on?"
"It's Hookfang, he's out of control."
"What!? How did that happen?" Hiccup said as they all ran to where Hookfang was. As they were running, Snotlout said to Hiccup. "I don't know what happened. I was just rubbing his head. He usually loves that, but this time, he went crazy. My dragon hates me." When they reached the plaza where Hookfang was raging out, they saw that Honorstream was trying to keep Hookfang from destroying stuff and Knight was putting out the fires. "Everybody, back away! The dragon's out of control, it's not safe here!" Stoick said to everyone, before Eric saw them and said. "Hiccup, I've already tired you're usually trick with Hookfang, but it didn't work. Any other ideas?"
"How about some food?" Hiccup said as he grabbed some fish from a basket. Hookfang calmed down and sniffed the fish. Hiccup threw it to Hookfang, and Hookfang caught it. But the moment he started to eat the fish, he spit it out and started to rampage again. As Toothless covered Hiccup's retreat, Stoick said to everyone. "We've got to bring this dragon under control.
"Don't worry, I can do this." Hiccup said to Stoick before Toothless and Honorstream attacked Hookfang. "Toothless! Honorstream!" Hiccup and Eric said at the same time, keeping their dragons from seriously hurting Hookfang. But Hookfang was still attacking everything. Stoick then said to Hiccup. "I'm sorry Hiccup, but I've seen enough. We tried it your way."
"Where are you going?" Eric said as Stoick and Sword Walker left the area. They had gone to Gobber's shop, and Stoick said to Gobber. "Gobber, we need you!"
"No, you don't. Nobody needs me." Gobber said before Coal caught his attention. Gobber then said as he started to cry. "You might need me Coal, but no one else."
"Are you crying?" Stoick said to Gobber, and Gobber said to Stoick. "Of course not. I'm just chopping onions."
"There are no onions."
"Not anymore. Look what I use to chop them with." Gobber said, showing the mace attachments on his hand. Stoick then said to Gobber. "There's a dragon in the plaza that's out of control."
"Then why don't you call Hiccup?"
"No, Gobber. We need you." Stoick said and Gobber understood what Stoick was asking of him. Back at the plaza, Toothless and Honorstream were able to keep Hookfang from destroying things, but he was still showing signs of aggression. Hiccup then said to everyone. "Come on, guys, hurry up, think. What haven't we tried?"
"Gobber." Snotlout said as Hookblade turned him around and they were the first to saw Gobber, who was carrying a very big load of weapons, Coal, Stoick, and Sword Walker. The others turned around and Gobber said to them. "Stand back. I came here to do what I do best."
"He's gonna kill my dragon." Snotlout said before Hiccup said. "No, he's not."
"Uh, yeah, he is." Tuffnut said before Ruffnut said. "You don't use that stuff to butter toast."
"Well, I mean, we would but you don't." Tuffnut said before Eirc said. "Not helping." Hiccup then said to Stoick. "Dad, you can't be serious. Hookfang is Snotlout's dragon."
"I'm sorry, Hiccup. But sometimes you have to fall back on the old ways." Gobber said to Hiccup, and then Hiccup said to Gobber. "But he's a good dragon. There's probably just something wrong with him. We have to try to help him."
"Yeah, plus we can just kill every dragon that is having a bad day." Eric said as he walked up to them. Stoick then said to them. "A bad day for a dragon can be a disaster for us. That's not a risk I'm willing to take. Gobber." Gobber then stepped forward and threw bola at Hookfang's wings and feet. That kept Hookfang from leaving. Coal then blocked the rest of Hookfang's fire. "Ha. You're all out of fire." Gobber said before pulling out a sword. As Gobber got closer to Hookfang, Hiccup stopped him and said. "I can't let you do this."
"There's no choice. It has to be done." Gobber said before Hookfang roared at them, and Hiccup and Gobber saw what was causing Hookfang's pain. Gobber then said to Hiccup. "Do you see that?"
"I do." Hiccup said before he stepped out of the way of Gobber. "Time to put this beast out of its misery." Gobber said before putting his sword away. Hookfang then used his ability to set himself on fire to free himself from the bolas. Gobber and Coal then got ready to fight, and Astrid said to Hiccup. "Hiccup, what are you doing?"
"Yeah, they are going to kill Hookfang!" Eric said and then Hiccup said. "Just trusted them." As Gobber switched his hands, Coal charged at Hookfang, knocking him down. Coal then opened Hookfang's mouth and Gobber used some pliers to remove the source of Hookfang's pain. Hookfang then shock them both off just as Gobber had removed the source of Hookfang's pain. Once Hookfang noticed that the pain was gone, he started to calm down. Snotlout then said to Gobber as he and Coal got up. "Oh, you didn't kill him!"
"For a toothache? What kind of lunatic are you?" Gobber said, showing everyone that Hookfang was in pain from a bad tooth. Hookfang then played with Snotlout and Hookblade. Snotlout didn't want everyone to see him being soft, and stopped playing around. As everyone left, Hiccup said to Gobber. "Thank you, Gobber. A bad tooth. I can't believe I didn't think of that."
"That's because you're not Gobber. I've forgotten more about dragons than most men will ever know. Well, better go put the girls away." Gobber said as he started to leave. "Gobber! Not so fast." Hiccup said as he had an idea on what Gobber could do now. Over the next few days, Gobber's shop got a bit of remodeling. Now instead of being a blacksmith shop, Vikings could also buy Pokeballs or BattleBalls, they can also have Gobber check their dragon's teeth. This made Gobber the one and only dragon dentist in the world. This was his new place and he loved it.
